The multiverse is not a straight line, nor is
it a web. It is a fragile, infinitely complex tapestry of glass, woven together
by the sheer willpower of reality. Each pane of glass reflects a different
existence, a different choice, a different hero. The borders between these
panes are absolute. They are silent, unyielding, and meant to remain closed
forever.
But silence cannot last when the shadows
themselves begin to starve.
Deep in the spaces between realities—in the
cosmic void known only to anomalies and gods—something ancient and unfathomably
hollow woke up. It had no name, for names belong to things that exist. It was a
localized absence of reality. A parasite of the dimensional fabric. But if the
cosmos were to scream a warning to the fragile worlds resting on its surface,
it would call this entity The Shattered King.
It did not want conquest. It did not want
power. It wanted to feed. And to feed, it required the rarest delicacies in the
multiverse: concentrated, unique nodes of power. Singularities of destiny.
It cast its dark, fractal tendrils outward,
feeling for the vibrations of power.
In one reality, it tasted a lineage of pure,
cultivated willpower passed down through generations—a starburst of green
energy.
In another, it tasted a concentrated nexus of
negative human emotion, refined into a lethal martial art by a boy housing a
demon.
In a third, it tasted a spider’s silk, woven
with bio-electricity and the rebellious, rhythmic heartbeat of an anomaly who
defined his own destiny.
The Shattered King hungered for all three. And
so, it began to pull.
Location: Musutafu, Japan
The air tasted of ash and pulverized concrete.
Izuku Midoriya—Pro Hero name: Deku—slammed
into the asphalt, his emerald-green boots carving deep, jagged trenches into
the road as he fought against his own momentum. Smoke billowed around him,
thick and acrid, as debris rained down from the sky.
Danger Sense.
The quirk flared at the base of his skull, a
sharp, electric needle of warning. Izuku didn't even have to look. He dropped
his center of gravity, activating Fa Jin and One For All: Full Cowl at
forty-five percent. Green lightning crackled across his skin, illuminating the
dust cloud around him like a chaotic strobe light. He pushed off his back foot,
vanishing from the spot a millisecond before a massive pillar of
telekinetically condensed asphalt smashed into the ground where he had just
been standing.
"You can't dodge forever, hero!" a
voice shrieked from the smog.
The villain, a heavily mutated man calling
himself 'Tectonic', hovered a few meters above the ground, his arms glowing
with a sickly yellow aura. His Quirk allowed him to liquefy and manipulate
urban terrain, turning the streets of Musutafu into a deadly ocean of flying
debris.
Izuku exhaled, a measured breath to calm his
racing heart. He’s overextending, Izuku thought, his mind racing through
calculations at terrifying speeds. His control over the debris is slipping. The
fragments are smaller now, and his attack intervals are exactly 1.4 seconds
apart. He’s running out of stamina. If I use Smokescreen to blind his line of
sight, and Blackwhip to restrict his arms...
"Don't ignore me!" Tectonic roared,
swinging both hands forward. A barrage of jagged concrete spikes shot toward
Izuku like missiles.
"I'm not!" Izuku yelled back. He
didn't retreat. Instead, a thick, purple gas erupted from his body—the Quirk of
the Sixth user, Smokescreen. The gas instantly engulfed the street, swallowing
the concrete missiles and completely obscuring Izuku from view.
Tectonic panicked, blasting the smoke
randomly. "Where are you?!"
Above you.
Izuku shot out of the smoke cloud, launching
himself into the air using a burst of kinetic energy. Tectonic looked up, his
eyes widening in terror at the sight of the boy bathed in emerald lightning.
Black, tendril-like whips erupted from Izuku's forearms, snapping through the
air with the speed of a striking viper. The Blackwhip wrapped tightly around
Tectonic's wrists, pinning his arms to his sides and neutralizing his Quirk.
"Texas..." Izuku pulled himself
toward the villain using the whips, drawing his right fist back. The power of
generations surged through his veins. He could feel the ghosts of the past
users watching, lending him their strength. The weight of his mentor, All
Might, rested heavily but comfortably on his shoulders. "...SMASH!"
The punch didn't even physically connect. The
sheer air pressure of Izuku's fist stopped inches from Tectonic's chest,
generating a massive shockwave that knocked the wind out of the villain
instantly. Tectonic’s eyes rolled back into his head, and he went limp,
dropping toward the ground. Izuku gently lowered him to the street with
Blackwhip, securing him for the police.
Izuku landed softly, panting lightly. The
green lightning faded from his skin. He wiped a streak of soot from his
freckled cheek. "Area secured," he muttered to his comms.
"Villain apprehended. No civilian casualties."
"Copy that, Deku," Uravity’s voice
crackled through the earpiece. "Great work as always. We're on cleanup
duty on Sector 4. Take a breather."
Izuku smiled weakly. A breather sounded nice.
He looked up at the sky, a clear, brilliant blue afternoon. He was just a
teenager, yet the fate of hero society rested squarely on his shoulders. He
didn't mind the weight—he had asked for it, fought for it, bled for it. But
there were days when he wondered how much more the world could ask of him.
Suddenly, Danger Sense spiked.
It wasn't a needle this time. It was a
sledgehammer.
Izuku fell to his knees, clutching his head as
an agonizing, blinding pain ripped through his skull. He cried out, squeezing
his eyes shut. It felt as though the entire world was screaming in agony.
"Deku? Deku, what's wrong?!"
Uravity's voice panicked in his ear. "Are you hurt?!"
"No... it's..." Izuku gasped for
air, forcing his eyes open.
He looked up at the brilliant blue sky. It was
no longer blue.
A massive, jagged black crack had appeared across
the heavens, as if the sky were a painted ceiling that had just been fractured
by a baseball. The crack spiderwebbed outward, stretching across the horizon in
seconds. The edges of the rift glowed with a terrifying, sickly magenta light,
and behind the cracks, there was no space, no stars. Only a swirling, chaotic
vortex of shadows that seemed to pulse with a heartbeat.
The ground beneath Izuku began to rumble. The
gravity around him warped, defying the laws of physics. Loose chunks of
asphalt, streetlights, and abandoned cars began to float upward, drawn toward
the shattered sky.
What is this? A Quirk? No... this is too
massive. This is...
"Uraraka!" Izuku yelled into his
comms, grabbing onto a fire hydrant as his own boots began to lift off the ground.
"Evacuate everyone! Get away from the open sky! The atmosphere is—"
Static. The comms were dead.
The rift in the sky widened, tearing open with
a sound like tearing metal. A tendril of pure, abyssal shadow whipped down from
the tear. It didn't aim for the buildings. It didn't aim for the unconscious
villain. It aimed directly at Izuku.
Before he could activate One For All to dodge,
the tendril wrapped around his waist. It was freezing cold, draining the warmth
from his body instantly.
"No!" Izuku screamed, firing
Blackwhip to anchor himself to the street. The black tendrils gripped the
pavement, but the pavement itself was pulled up, shattering into dust under the
sheer gravitational pull of the sky-rift.
Izuku Midoriya was ripped from his world,
swallowed by the vortex of magenta and black, as the sky of Musutafu shattered
like glass behind him.
Location: Tokyo, Japan
It was raining in Shibuya, though the rain
couldn't wash away the stench of blood, ozone, and rotting meat.
Yuji Itadori stood in the center of an
abandoned intersection, his uniform soaked to the bone, his pink hair plastered
to his forehead. He breathed heavily, the misty air escaping his lips in ragged
white puffs. His knuckles were raw, bruised purple, and bleeding. He didn't
feel the pain. He didn't let himself feel it anymore. Pain meant you were
alive, and Yuji wasn't entirely sure he deserved to be.
I am a cog, he repeated the mantra in his
head, staring at the monster before him. I am a cog. My job is to exorcise
Curses. I don't need a reason. I don't need a future. I just need to kill them.
The monster in front of him was a Grade 2
Cursed Spirit, born from the collective fear and anxiety of Tokyo's overworked
salarymen—a fear of being crushed by the corporate ladder. It looked like a
grotesque amalgamation of briefcases, severed limbs, and a massive, grinning
face made of neckties. It towered three stories high, its multiple arms
thrashing wildly as it screeched a sound like screeching subway brakes.
"You're late," the Curse gurgled, a
disjointed human voice echoing from its many mouths. "The deadline... the
deadline is here!"
"Shut up," Yuji muttered.
He planted his feet, shifting his stance. A
volatile, dark blue energy began to crackle around his fists. Cursed Energy. It
was the physical manifestation of negative emotion, and Yuji had plenty of that
to spare. Guilt over Sukuna's rampage. Grief over Nobara, over Nanami, over
everyone who had died because he wasn't strong enough. He channeled all of it
into his right fist.
The Curse lunged, swinging a massive, jagged
arm made of jagged metal and bone down toward Yuji.
Yuji didn't flinch. He didn't even blink. He
stepped inside the creature's guard with terrifying speed, his physical prowess
far exceeding that of a normal human even without Cursed Energy. He dodged the
swing by a fraction of an inch, the wind pressure tearing a gash across his
cheek.
He drove his glowing right fist directly into
the Curse's grotesque, grinning face.
Impact.
The physical blow connected first, shattering
the teeth and bone. A microsecond later, the Cursed Energy flowed in,
detonating with a delayed, concussive blast. Divergent Fist. The double-impact
sent a shockwave rippling through the Curse's body. The monster shrieked in
agony, its form rippling as the Cursed Energy tore it apart from the inside.
"Die," Yuji whispered, his eyes devoid
of light.
He spun, delivering a devastating roundhouse
kick to the creature's core. The air warped around his foot. A spark of black
lightning flashed—a spatial distortion born of perfectly applied Cursed Energy.
Black Flash.
The deafening boom echoed through the empty
streets of Shibuya. The Grade 2 Curse didn't just die; it was annihilated,
reduced to raining purple ash and dissipating malice.
Yuji stood in the falling ash, lowering his
leg. He let out a long breath, staring at his hands. Another curse dead.
Another drop in an endless ocean of suffering. It didn't make him feel better.
It just made him feel empty.
"Good work, Itadori," Megumi
Fushiguro’s voice called out from the shadows of an alleyway. Megumi stepped
into the rain, his hands in his pockets, his expression as unreadable as ever.
"That's three tonight. We should head back to the barrier. Maki is
waiting."
Yuji nodded slowly, turning toward his friend.
"Yeah. Let's go."
But as Yuji took a step, the world... skipped.
That was the only way Yuji could describe it.
The sound of the rain vanished. The ash froze in mid-air. The neon signs of
Shibuya flickered wildly, shifting through colors that didn't exist in nature.
"Fushiguro?" Yuji asked, his
instincts flaring. Cursed Energy spiked, but it wasn't coming from a Curse. It
was coming from everywhere.
"Itadori, look up," Megumi said, his
voice laced with rare, naked panic.
Yuji looked up. The clouds above Tokyo were
boiling. They weren't gray anymore; they were bleeding a fluorescent, digital
purple. And then, the sky broke apart. Massive, jagged fissures tore through
the heavens, revealing an absolute void of swirling, glitching darkness.
"Domain Expansion?" Yuji yelled over
the sudden, deafening roar of wind. "Who's doing this?!"
"No! This isn't a Domain!" Megumi
shouted, summoning his Divine Dogs as the ground beneath them began to
violently shake. "The Cursed Energy... it's not human! It feels like...
nothing!"
A shadow fell over Shibuya. It wasn't a cloud.
It was a massive, tendril-like appendage reaching down from the shattered sky.
It moved with blinding speed, bypassing the buildings, bypassing Megumi, and
slamming directly into the street in front of Yuji.
The shockwave knocked Megumi backward. Yuji
crossed his arms, bracing against the gale-force winds. He stared into the
shadow. It felt like looking into the maw of a starving beast. It felt like
staring at the concept of non-existence.
The shadow lunged.
Yuji poured every ounce of his Cursed Energy
into his fists, screaming as he swung a desperate, full-power punch at the
tendril. "Get away from me!"
His fist connected. But there was no impact.
His arm passed right through the shadow.
The tendril wrapped around Yuji's chest,
instantly paralyzing him. The cold was absolute; it froze the Cursed Energy in
his veins. Yuji gasped, his feet lifting off the pavement.
"Itadori!" Megumi lunged forward,
throwing his hands out to summon a shikigami.
"Fushiguro! Stay back!" Yuji
ordered, struggling against the grip. But it was useless.
With a violent yank, the shadow pulled Yuji
upward, accelerating at terrifying speed. The city of Tokyo became a blur
beneath him. He was dragged into the purple, glitching rift in the sky, and as
he passed the threshold of his reality, everything went to black.
Location: Brooklyn, New York, Earth-1610
“...so tell me what you really want, 'cause
I've been on a mission...”
The bass pounded through Miles Morales'
headphones, perfectly syncing with the rhythm of his heartbeat. He loved this
song. He loved this city. And most importantly, he loved being Spider-Man.
High above the neon-drenched streets of
Brooklyn, Miles was in his element. He was in a full dive, plummeting headfirst
down the side of a massive glass skyscraper. The wind roared past his ears,
fighting a losing battle against the music blaring in his headset. His sleek,
black-and-red suit caught the city lights, making him look like a shooting star
against the urban backdrop.
At the last possible second, just as the
pavement threatened to introduce itself to his face, Miles flipped. He shot a
web from his left wrist, attaching it to a streetlamp, and swung smoothly in a
high, sweeping arc over the evening traffic.
"WOOHOO!" Miles cheered, completely
ignoring the fact that his homework was due in twelve hours and he hadn't even
started it.
Spider-Sense tingling.
It wasn't a warning of imminent doom. It was a
gentle nudge, a buzz at the back of his neck that told him where to look. Miles
twisted mid-air, spotting a heavily armored van tearing down Flatbush Avenue,
aggressively swerving through traffic. Four NYPD cruisers were hot on its tail,
sirens blaring.
"Looks like the Alchemax boys are doing
some unauthorized tech relocation," Miles muttered to himself, tapping his
mask to switch his comms to the police frequency. "Don't worry, officers.
Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is on the clock."
Miles let go of his web, launching himself
over a yellow cab. He shot a webline to the corner of a building, using the
momentum to slingshot himself directly above the speeding armored van.
He dropped onto the roof of the van with a
heavy metallic THUD.
Inside, the driver cursed, swerving wildly to
try and shake him off. Miles easily kept his balance, his fingers and toes
sticking to the metal via static adhesion. He crawled to the back doors of the
van.
"Knock, knock!" Miles yelled,
leaning upside down and peering through the reinforced glass window. Inside,
three heavily armed thugs in tactical gear stared back at him in shock. They
were guarding several crates glowing with unstable, purple dimensional energy.
One of the thugs raised a high-tech laser
rifle and fired directly at the glass.
Miles simply let go. He dropped toward the
asphalt as a red laser beam melted through the doors right where his head had
been. Before his feet could touch the ground, he fired two webs, latching onto
the rear bumper of the van. He skied on his shoes behind the speeding vehicle
for a few seconds, letting the music in his headphones hit the chorus.
"Alright, playtime's over," Miles
said.
He yanked himself forward, flying back up to
the doors. He channeled his bio-electricity. Blue and yellow sparks danced
across his knuckles, crackling with volatile energy. He slammed his fists into
the metal doors.
Venom Strike.
The bio-electric charge surged through the
vehicle's chassis. It bypassed the armor, frying the engine block and
overloading the van's electrical systems. The engine sputtered, popped, and
died instantly. The van screeched to a halt, smoking heavily.
Miles backflipped off the van, landing
perfectly on a streetlight overhead as the police cruisers surrounded the
vehicle. The thugs stumbled out of the back, coughing on smoke, instantly
raising their hands as the cops drew their weapons.
"Another flawless victory for the
Brooklyn Spider-Man," Miles narrated to himself, striking a cool pose on
the streetlight. He was about to swing away, maybe grab a Jamaican beef patty
on the way back to his dorm.
Then, his Spider-Sense went off.
It didn't buzz. It screamed.
It was a violent, agonizing screech inside his
head, louder and more painful than when he had first encountered the Spot. It
felt like thousands of spiders were biting the inside of his skull. Miles
gasped, clutching his head, and nearly fell off the streetlight.
The music in his headphones distorted, warping
into a horrific, demonic screech before shorting out completely. The vibrant
colors of Brooklyn—the neon pinks, the taxi yellows, the sky blues—began to
bleed. Literally bleed.
The geometry of the world began to glitch. A
billboard advertising soda suddenly shattered into pixelated hexagons. The
police cars below shifted violently, turning into 1920s jalopies, then
futuristic hover-cars, before turning back. The cops and the thugs froze, their
bodies phasing in and out of reality like a broken VHS tape.
"What... what is happening?!" Miles
panicked, his breathing shallow. "Is this the multiverse collapsing? Is
Miguel here?!"
Miles looked up.
The sky above Brooklyn didn't shatter like
glass. It dissolved. A massive, gaping hole of anti-matter opened up above the
city skyline. It was a void of absolute, terrifying nothingness, framed by
glitching, multi-colored static.
From the void, a shadow descended.
It was impossible to perceive correctly. It
looked like a storm cloud, but it moved like a living organism. The shadow
lashed out, moving with the erratic, unpredictable motion of a glitch. It
didn't cast a shadow; it absorbed the light around it.
Miles' Spider-Sense roared, demanding he move.
Miles reacted on pure instinct. He activated
his camouflage, turning entirely invisible, and leaped backward off the
streetlight, firing a web to swing away.
But the shadow didn't rely on sight. It was
hunting for his essence. The unique, anomalous web of destiny that tied Miles
Morales to the multiverse.
The tendril whipped through the air,
intercepting Miles mid-swing. It struck him directly in the chest.
Miles uncloaked violently, the breath knocked
out of his lungs. The shadow wrapped around him, cold and heavy, pulling him
upward.
"Gwen!" Miles screamed, hoping,
praying she was somewhere out there, watching his universe. "Peter!
Anyone!"
He channeled every ounce of venom blast he
had, his entire body glowing like a miniature blue sun. He detonated the
bio-electricity outward, trying to fry the shadow holding him.
The shadow simply absorbed the energy, feeding
on it.
Miles was pulled higher, faster, the skyline
of New York becoming a distant, glitching memory. He was dragged into the void,
the cold nothingness swallowing him whole as the sky of his reality sealed
itself shut behind him.
Space and time did not exist in the rift.
For Izuku Midoriya, it was an agonizing
sensory overload. He felt like he was being stretched across a billion miles,
his consciousness fracturing as he was dragged through realities where he was a
villain, where he was quirkless, where he was dead. The voices of the past One
For All users screamed in his head, a chorus of panic and confusion.
For Yuji Itadori, it was a suffocating
pressure. It felt like being trapped at the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the
weight of a million Curses pressing down on his chest. He saw flashes of
realities he didn't understand—worlds without Cursed Energy, worlds where human
emotion was weaponized, worlds of ash and flame.
For Miles Morales, it was a terrifying
unraveling. His Spider-Sense was overwhelmed, firing so rapidly that he could
feel the vibrations of every universe simultaneously. He saw a web—a literal,
glowing web—snapping, the threads dissolving into dust as the shadow dragged
him further away from his node.
The Shattered King did not care for their
pain. It was a fisherman reeling in its catch. It had secured the three
anchors. The Quirk of Hope. The Energy of Despair. The Anomaly of Destiny.
With a final, violent yank, the shadow dragged
all three of them out of the cosmic slipstream, throwing them down into the
center of a forgotten, dead pocket dimension.
The impact was brutal.
Izuku hit the ground hard, tumbling head over
heels across a surface that felt suspiciously like cold, smooth tile. He
skidded to a halt, groaning, his body aching as if he had just used a
hundred-percent smash without preparation.
Yuji crashed down a second later, landing on
his feet but immediately buckling under his own momentum. He slammed a hand
into the ground, dragging his fingers across the earth to slow himself, leaving
deep claw marks in the dirt.
Miles fell from the sky with a yell, crashing through
what looked like the rotting remains of a Japanese Torii gate, and slammed into
a pile of rubble. He lay there for a moment, seeing stars.
Silence descended on the void.
Slowly, painfully, the three heroes began to
move.
Izuku pushed himself up on trembling arms. His
analytical mind immediately kicked into overdrive, suppressing the panic of
being abducted. Assess the situation. Assess the environment. Assess the
threats.
He looked around. The sky was not a sky. It
was a swirling nebula of gray and silver clouds, casting a dull, twilight
illumination over the landscape. But the landscape itself was the most
terrifying part. It was a graveyard of realities.
Izuku was standing on a large, floating island
suspended in a void. The ground beneath him was a patchwork quilt of different
worlds. To his left was a pristine, tiled floor that looked like a high school
hallway. To his right, a chunk of cracked asphalt with yellow taxi cab doors
embedded in it. In the distance, a ruined, ancient temple merged seamlessly
with a modern, neon-lit subway station.
Where am I? Izuku thought, his breathing
picking up. A villain's Quirk? A teleportation trap? No... the scale of this...
the villain from before... the rift...
He heard the crunch of debris.
Izuku snapped his head up. About thirty feet
away, standing up from a crouched position, was a boy with spiky pink hair. He
wore a strange, dark blue uniform with red accents, his hands wrapped in raw,
bleeding knuckles.
Yuji stood up to his full height, his eyes
cold and dangerous. His Cursed Energy was already pooling around his fists, a
dark, volatile aura that made the hair on Izuku’s arms stand up.
Danger Sense spiked slightly. Not an
overwhelming threat, but a warning. This person was dangerous.
Yuji stared at the green-haired boy in the
strange costume. The boy had metal soles on his shoes, long black gloves, and a
metal respirator around his neck. Yuji's mind, molded by the brutal logic of
Jujutsu Sorcery, jumped to the only conclusion that made sense in a world this
warped.
A cursed spirit, Yuji thought, his jaw
clenching. Or a curse user. A Domain Expansion... this has to be a Domain. I
got swallowed by a massive Curse, and now I'm in its innate domain. And that
guy is either the caster or a pawn.
"Hey," Yuji called out, his voice
rough and echoing in the desolate silence. "Where's the exit? Drop the
Domain, and I won't have to break every bone in your body."
Izuku blinked, taken aback by the hostility.
He analyzed the boy’s words. Domain? Break my bones? He thinks I did this?
"W-Wait!" Izuku raised his hands in
a placating gesture, though he instinctively kept his weight on the balls of
his feet, ready to dodge. "I didn't do this! I was attacked by something—a
rift in the sky. I'm a Pro Hero... well, a hero-in-training. Are you a
civilian? Were you dragged in too?"
Yuji narrowed his eyes. The cursed spirit was
talking. And lying. "A hero? You think I'm an idiot? I felt the energy
that pulled me in. It was pure evil. I don't know what kind of game this is,
but I'm not playing."
Yuji bent his knees, the asphalt beneath him
cracking under the pressure of his enhanced physical strength. He was fast.
Dangerously fast. Izuku realized a fight was imminent.
"I'm telling the truth!" Izuku
yelled, his own green lightning beginning to spark around his body as One For
All hummed to life. "I don't want to fight you! But if you attack me, I
will defend myself!"
"Try it," Yuji growled.
Before either of them could launch forward, a
voice echoed from above them.
"Okay, time out! Pause! Ref, blow the
whistle!"
Both Izuku and Yuji froze, looking upward.
Crouched upside down on a floating, rusted
steel girder above them, was a figure in a skin-tight black and red suit.
Large, expressive white eyes on the mask blinked down at them.
Miles Morales let go of the girder, doing a
perfect backflip, and landed right between Izuku and Yuji. He raised his hands,
shooting web-lines to his left and right, tethering them to the ground as a
show of agility, though neither Izuku nor Yuji understood what the white string
was.
"Alright, let's turn the dial down from
an eleven to, like, a four," Miles said, his voice modulated slightly by
his mask. He looked at Izuku. "You. Broccoli hair. Your outfit screams
'cosplay convention', but that lightning stuff looks real. Are you an
anomaly?"
He turned to Yuji. "And you. Pinky. You
look like you just walked out of a UFC fight in a private school uniform. Why
are your hands glowing dark blue? Is that dark matter? Negative tachyons?
Seriously, which one of you broke the multiverse, because I have an essay due
tomorrow and Miguel O'Hara is going to literally eat me alive if I'm
late."
Izuku stared at the spider-themed boy.
Multiverse? Anomaly? What is he talking about? Is his Quirk some kind of string
generation? He sticks to walls... like a spider? "M-Multiverse?"
Izuku stammered. "I don't... I don't know what you mean. I'm Deku."
"Deku?" Miles repeated, crossing his
arms. "Sounds like a Pokémon."
Yuji watched the exchange, his patience
entirely depleted. The spider-guy didn't feel like a Curse. He felt... weird.
Like he didn't belong in reality at all. But he was annoying. And the
green-haired kid was still glowing.
"I don't care what you two are,"
Yuji said, stepping forward, his Cursed Energy flaring violently, kicking up
dust around his feet. "I need to get back to Shibuya. If neither of you is
going to tell me how to get out of this Domain, I'm going to beat the answers
out of you."
Miles sighed, dropping into a low, defensive
spider-crouch. Blue and yellow bio-electricity began to crackle wildly around
his fists, illuminating his black suit. "Bro, I just said let's calm down.
If you want to throw hands, fine. But I'm warning you, I pack a serious
punch."
Izuku’s eyes darted between the two of them.
The pink-haired boy was emitting an aura of pure, terrifying malice, yet his
eyes held a profound sadness. The spider-boy was generating an electrical
charge that Danger Sense flagged as highly volatile, yet his posture was
defensive, not aggressive.
They weren't villains. Izuku knew villains.
These two... they were like him. They were terrified, confused, and cornered.
But Izuku also knew that cornered animals
bite.
"Wait, please!" Izuku pleaded,
ramping One For All up to twenty percent. The wind whipped around him, his
green lightning illuminating the dark, floating island. "We don't need to
do this!"
Yuji lunged.
He moved faster than the eye could track,
clearing the fifteen feet between him and Miles in a fraction of a second. He
threw a devastating right hook, aiming not to kill, but to incapacitate the
spider-guy.
Miles' Spider-Sense screamed. He ducked,
moving with liquid agility, the sheer wind pressure of Yuji's punch blowing the
rubble behind Miles into dust. "Whoa! Okay, we're doing this!"
Miles planted a hand on the ground, sweeping
his leg to trip Yuji, while simultaneously firing a venom-blast-charged web
directly at Izuku to keep the green-haired boy out of the fray.
Izuku saw the glowing web coming. He
sidestepped, the web sailing past him and detonating against a piece of
floating debris with a loud CRACK. Izuku gritted his teeth. They aren't
listening. I have to restrain them both before they kill each other!
Black whips erupted from Izuku's back, six
tendrils lashing out like dark serpents.
The three teenagers clashed in the center of
the broken, multiversal void.
Green lightning. Blue bio-electricity. Dark
cursed energy.
The energies collided, creating a massive,
localized shockwave that rippled across the dimensional graveyard. They were
three boys from three different worlds, each carrying the weight of a legacy,
each bearing the scars of a war they were too young to fight.
They didn't know it yet, but they were the
only things standing between the multiverse and total annihilation.
High above them, hidden in the swirling clouds
of gray and silver, the Shattered King watched. And it smiled.
The void was a graveyard of shattered
realities, a desolate expanse where fragments of different worlds floated like
debris in a cosmic ocean. In the center of this dimensional wreckage, on a
jagged platform comprised of an overturned New York subway car, a ruined
Japanese temple, and a slab of pristine hero-academy asphalt, three boys
collided in a storm of misunderstanding and raw power.
Izuku Midoriya, Miles Morales, and Yuji
Itadori were not enemies. But when you are ripped from your home, drowning in
the adrenaline of a fight for your life, anyone standing in front of you looks
like a threat.
Green. Blue. Black.
The colors violently clashed in the twilight
air, sending a concussive shockwave rippling through the floating island.
Yuji pressed his assault first. His mind,
conditioned by the brutal, merciless warfare of the Jujutsu world, calculated
that the spider-themed boy was a ranged fighter, while the green-haired boy
with the black tendrils was a mid-to-close-range threat. To a sorcerer,
hesitation meant death.
"I don't have time for this!" Yuji
roared. He pivoted on his heel, the ground cratering beneath his dark blue
sneakers. He ignored the green-haired boy for a fraction of a second, launching
himself directly at Miles.
Miles' Spider-Sense flared, a sharp, ringing
buzz at the base of his skull. "Whoa! Chill, man, chill!" he yelped,
backflipping off the crushed hood of a yellow taxi cab just as Yuji’s fist
slammed into the metal where his head had been a millisecond prior.
The impact was deafening. The taxi didn't just
dent; it folded entirely in half, the reinforced steel crumpling like wet
tissue paper under the sheer force of Yuji’s strike. A burst of volatile, dark
Cursed Energy exploded outward from the point of impact, sending shrapnel
flying into the air.
Miles landed on the side of a floating brick
wall, his fingers sticking effortlessly to the masonry. His large white mask
lenses widened in shock. "Okay, so you're like, super strong. Cool. Love
that for you. But have you tried therapy instead of punching cars?!"
Miles raised his wrists, his web-shooters
clicking. THWIP! THWIP!
Two streams of synthetic webbing shot forward,
twisting in the air. Yuji didn't try to dodge. He raised his forearms, letting
the webs strike him. They stuck to his forearms like liquid cement, hardening
instantly.
"Gotcha," Miles smirked beneath his
mask. He braced his feet against the wall and pulled hard, intending to yank
the pink-haired brawler off balance.
But Yuji didn't budge. He looked at the white
webbing covering his wrists, then looked up at Miles with cold, dead eyes.
"Annoying."
Instead of being pulled, Yuji pulled back.
With a vicious grunt, he yanked his arms backward. The sheer, terrifying
physical strength of the vessel of Sukuna overpowered Miles instantly. Miles
was ripped straight off the brick wall, flying through the air toward Yuji like
a human yo-yo.
"Wait, wait, physics check!" Miles
yelled, flailing as he was reeled in.
Yuji pulled his right fist back, dark Cursed
Energy pooling around his knuckles, humming with the promise of a Divergent
Fist. He aimed directly for the falling Spider-Man's chest.
Danger Sense.
Izuku’s mind processed the battlefield in a
microsecond.
Spider-guy is lightweight, relies on agility
and capture tape. Pink-haired guy possesses monumental physical strength,
equivalent to All Might at maybe twenty percent, plus an unknown dark energy
aura. If that punch lands, spider-guy’s ribs will shatter.
Izuku didn't think. His body moved on its own.
"One For All: Full Cowl! Thirty
Percent!"
Green lightning erupted from Izuku’s skin,
illuminating the void like a flare. The concrete beneath him spider-webbed as
he activated Fa Jin, releasing stored kinetic energy into his legs. He moved so
fast he broke the sound barrier, resulting in a localized sonic boom that
kicked up a massive cloud of dust.
Just as Yuji threw his punch at the airborne
Miles, Izuku materialized between them.
"Blackwhip!" Izuku commanded.
Six thick, black, crackling tendrils erupted
from Izuku’s arms. Two of them wrapped securely around Miles’ waist, halting
his forward momentum and yanking him safely out of the strike zone. The other
four tendrils shot forward to intercept Yuji’s fist.
Yuji’s knuckles collided with the crisscrossed
barrier of Blackwhip.
The impact generated a massive shockwave.
Izuku gritted his teeth, his boots sliding back two feet across the asphalt as
the force of the blow traveled up the tendrils and into his arms. Heavy! Izuku
thought, his eyes widening. It’s not just a physical impact. There’s a
secondary shockwave of energy following the punch!
The delayed burst of Yuji’s Divergent Fist
detonated against Blackwhip, shattering two of the tendrils into dissipating
smoke.
"Get out of my way!" Yuji snarled,
rearing his left leg back for a devastating roundhouse kick aimed at Izuku's
head.
"I'm trying to save both of you!"
Izuku yelled back. He ducked under the kick, feeling the wind pressure slice
off a few strands of his curly green hair. He released Miles, dropping the
spider-hero onto a pile of rubble safely away from the melee, and refocused
entirely on Yuji.
Yuji was relentless. He threw a flurry of
punches and kicks, his Cursed Energy flaring violently. Every strike was
precise, lethal, and carried the weight of a boy who had fought for his life a
hundred times over.
Izuku didn't fight back. He parried. He
blocked. He dodged. He used his analytical mind to map out Yuji’s rhythm.
One-two, left hook, sweep. He’s a martial artist. No wild swings. He fights
like... like an underground hero.
"Stop!" Izuku pleaded, catching
Yuji’s wrist. The sheer force bruised his palm even through his reinforced
gloves. "We aren't enemies! We were all brought here against our
will!"
"Shut up, Curse!" Yuji yelled,
twisting his wrist and throwing a brutal headbutt.
Izuku leaned back just in time, but the
distraction was enough for Yuji to break free. Yuji leaped into the air,
bringing both fists down in a hammer strike.
Suddenly, the environment itself intervened.
The floating island shuddered violently.
Another cosmic quake rippled through the dimension. The massive, ruined
Japanese temple behind them groaned, its structural integrity failing. A
gigantic, stone pillar—weighing at least ten tons—snapped off its base and
began to plummet directly toward where Yuji was landing.
Yuji’s eyes widened. He was in mid-air. He
couldn't dodge. He braced himself, preparing to take the crushing weight,
hoping his Cursed Energy reinforcement would be enough to keep him alive.
He didn't have to.
"Look out!"
Izuku pushed off the ground, a blur of green
lightning. He didn't attack Yuji. Instead, he tackled the pink-haired boy out
of the air, wrapping his arms around him.
"Detroit..." Izuku twisted his body,
aiming his right leg upward at the falling pillar. "...SMASH!"
A massive burst of air pressure erupted from
Izuku's kick. The ten-ton stone pillar didn't just stop; it pulverized into a
shower of harmless gravel and dust, blown away by the sheer force of the
shockwave.
Izuku and Yuji crashed onto the ground,
rolling several times before coming to a halt. Izuku was on top, breathing
heavily, his green lightning flickering and dying down.
Yuji lay on his back, staring up at the
green-haired boy. His Cursed Energy sputtered and faded. The hostility in his
eyes was replaced by profound confusion.
He saved me, Yuji thought. Curses don't save
people. Curses don't bleed.
He looked at Izuku’s cheek, where a piece of
flying gravel had left a small, bleeding scratch. Red blood. Human blood.
"Are you... are you okay?" Izuku
asked, his voice shaking slightly as he pushed himself up off Yuji, offering a
gloved hand.
Yuji didn't take the hand immediately. He sat
up, his shoulders slumping as the adrenaline began to leave his system.
"You're... human."
"I told you I was," Izuku said, a tired
but gentle smile breaking through his anxiety.
"Hey! Are we done playing Super Smash
Bros?!"
Both boys turned. Miles Morales was walking
toward them, having dropped down from the rubble. He tapped the side of his
mask, and with a soft whirring sound, the red-and-black fabric retracted around
his neck, revealing the face of a teenage boy. He looked no older than Izuku or
Yuji, his brown skin lightly slicked with sweat, his expression a mix of
exasperation and relief.
"Because I gotta tell you, my
danger-tingle is giving me a massive headache, and I'm really not in the mood
to fight an anime protagonist and a guy who punches cars," Miles said,
putting his hands on his hips.
Izuku blinked, his mouth dropping open. He immediately
deactivated his iron soles and pulled his metal respirator down from his face.
"You're... you're just a kid."
"I am fifteen, bro. I'm practically an
adult," Miles scoffed, though the tremor in his hands betrayed his
bravado. He looked at Yuji. "What about you, pinky? You done trying to
turn my ribs into a xylophone?"
Yuji slowly stood up, dusting off his Tokyo
Jujutsu High uniform. He looked at Izuku, then at Miles. The realization washed
over him like a cold bucket of water. They weren't Curses. They weren't
malicious sorcerers. They were just... teenagers. Like him. Thrust into a
nightmare they didn't understand.
"Sorry," Yuji said, his voice
surprisingly soft, rough with exhaustion. "I thought you were Curses.
Monsters from my world. They... they use domains. Pocket dimensions. I thought
this was a trap."
"Not a trap," Izuku said, shaking
his head. "I was in Musutafu. A villain was attacking, and then the sky
just... broke. A shadow grabbed me."
"Brooklyn," Miles chimed in,
pointing a thumb at his chest. "I was stopping an Alchemax heist. Sky
turned into a glitching black hole, and this giant, shadowy tentacle monster
yanked me into the multiverse. Again." He sighed heavily. "I hate
Tuesdays."
"Tokyo," Yuji added quietly.
"Same thing. The sky shattered."
Izuku’s eyes widened. He reached toward his
utility belt, instinctively looking for his hero notebook, but realized he had
dropped it during his patrol. Instead, he started muttering, pacing back and
forth, his thumb on his chin.
"Three different locations. Different
countries, assuming we're from the same Earth, but the spider-themed hero
mentioned a multiverse, which implies we are from alternate realities. That
aligns with the structural variations in the debris around us. The sky shattering
phenomenon was identical for all of us. A shadow entity. It targeted us
specifically. Why? What do we have in common? We all possess superhuman
abilities, but in my world, eighty percent of the population does. Why me? Why
them?"
Miles stared at Izuku, watching the boy mutter
at lightspeed. "Uh... is he okay? Does he need a reboot?"
"I think he's just thinking out
loud," Yuji said, watching Izuku with a slight, amused smile. It was the
first time Yuji had smiled in weeks. The green-haired boy reminded him a bit of
Megumi when he got too deep into his own head.
"I-I'm sorry!" Izuku snapped out of
it, flushing bright red and waving his hands frantically. "It's a bad
habit! I tend to over-analyze Quirks and situations. Oh! I haven't even
introduced myself properly!"
Izuku stood up straight, puffing his chest out
slightly, and bowed at a perfect ninety-degree angle. "I am Izuku
Midoriya! Hero Name: Deku! I am a first-year student in the Hero Course at U.A.
High School!"
Miles raised an eyebrow, a grin spreading
across his face. "Hero course? Bro, you go to school to wear spandex?
That's actually sick. I'm Miles. Miles Morales. But in my dimension, I'm the
one and only Spider-Man." He shot a finger gun at Izuku.
Yuji shoved his hands into his pockets,
looking down at his bruised knuckles. "Yuji Itadori. I'm a Jujutsu
Sorcerer. Or... I guess I'm supposed to be." He looked up at the strange,
swirling silver sky. "I don't have a hero name. I just exorcise Curses."
Deku, Miles, and Yuji. Three boys from three
universes, standing in the ruins of the multiverse.
The silence that followed was comfortable, the
tension of the battle finally dissipating. But the peace was not meant to last.
The silver and gray clouds above them suddenly
violently churned. The ambient gravity of the floating island shifted, making
the boys stumble.
Danger Sense and Spider-Sense flared
simultaneously. Izuku and Miles both clutched their heads, wincing.
"Something's coming," Miles warned,
his mask sliding back over his face in a blink, his lenses narrowing.
"Get behind me," Yuji said, stepping
forward, his fists igniting with Cursed Energy once again. Izuku powered up
Full Cowl, green lightning dancing across his arms.
From the center of the swirling nebula above,
a pillar of pure, refracted light descended. It did not strike the ground like
lightning, but gently cascaded down like a waterfall of shattered glass. When
the light hit the ground, it began to coalesce, forming a towering, ethereal
figure.
It was humanoid, but made entirely of
floating, shifting panes of stained glass. It had no face, only a glowing orb
of warm, golden light where its head should be. It radiated an aura of immense,
ancient sadness. It did not feel evil to Yuji, nor did it trigger Izuku or
Miles' danger senses. It just felt... dying.
"Peace, children of the
Convergence," the entity spoke. Its voice was not a sound, but a vibration
that resonated directly in their minds. It sounded like a choir of a billion
voices whispering at once. "I mean you no harm. I have not the strength
left to harm a fly, even if I wished it."
"Who are you?" Izuku asked, stepping
forward, keeping his guard up but lowering his fists. "Where are we?"
"I am the Weaver," the glass entity
replied, its form shifting, a few panes of glass falling from its body and
dissolving into dust before they hit the ground. "Or, I was. I was the
guardian of the borders. The custodian of the panes that keep the infinite
realities separated. And you... you are in the Null Space. The graveyard of
worlds that have been consumed."
"Consumed?" Miles repeated, his
voice tight. "Consumed by what? That giant shadow thing that grabbed
us?"
"Yes. The Shattered King," The
Weaver’s voice trembled, a deep, resonant hum of fear. "It is a parasite
of the multiverse. It was born in the darkness between realities, feeding on
the runoff energy of destroyed universes. But it grew greedy. It no longer waits
for worlds to die. It is actively killing them."
The Weaver raised a hand made of floating
glass shards. An image materialized in the air between them, like a
three-dimensional holographic projection.
It showed three distinct glowing orbs. One glowed
a brilliant, emerald green. One pulsed with a complex, web-like pattern of blue
and red. The third throbbed with a dark, volatile crimson and black energy.
"To destroy a universe, the King must
anchor itself to it," The Weaver explained. "It seeks out
singularities. Nexuses of unique, condensed power. It has driven three
'Convergence Anchors' into your respective realities, using them as siphons to
drain the life force of your worlds."
"Wait," Izuku’s breath hitched. He
stared at the green orb in the projection. He recognized that energy. It felt
exactly like the embers of power inside him. "That green light... is
that..."
"Yes, Izuku Midoriya," The Weaver
said. "The first Anchor has attached itself to the legacy of One For All.
The culmination of generations of heroic willpower."
Miles stared at the blue and red web.
"And mine? It attached to the Web of Destiny? Because I'm an
anomaly?"
"Because you are a nexus, Miles Morales.
You are a Spider-Man who defines his own fate. The King feasts on the paradox
of your existence."
Yuji didn't have to ask. He stared at the dark
red orb. "It took my world's Cursed Energy. All the negative
emotion."
"Indeed, Yuji Itadori," The Weaver
confirmed, its light dimming slightly. "The Anchors are not just machines.
They are living, parasitic seeds. They have bonded with the greatest threats in
your respective worlds, creating mutated monstrosities to protect the Anchors
while they siphon your reality's energy. If these Anchors are not destroyed
within a matter of days..."
The holographic projection shifted. The three
beautiful, glowing orbs suddenly turned black, shriveled, and burst into
nothingness.
"Your universes will collapse. Everyone
you know, everything you love, will be erased from the tapestry of existence.
Not destroyed. Erased. As if they never were."
A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the
three boys.
Izuku thought of his mother, waiting for him
at home. He thought of All Might, of Uraraka, Todoroki, Bakugo, and Eri.
Erased.
Miles thought of his parents. His mom's warm
hugs, his dad's stern but loving voice. He thought of Gwen, of Peter B. Parker,
of Brooklyn. Erased.
Yuji thought of Megumi and Maki. He thought of
Gojo, sealed away. He thought of the promise he made to his grandfather to save
people and die surrounded by loved ones. Erased.
"So how do we kill this King guy?"
Yuji asked. His voice wasn't scared. It was icy. It was the voice of a boy who
had already lost too much and refused to lose an inch more.
"The King is currently intangible,
resting in the space between your worlds while it feeds," The Weaver
explained. "You cannot fight it directly. You must sever its food supply.
You must travel to each of your realities, locate the Convergence Anchor, and
destroy it. Only when all three Anchors are shattered will the King be forced
to manifest physically, vulnerable and weakened."
"Okay, so we just pop into our worlds,
smash the glowing thingy, and save the day," Miles said, pacing, his hands
rubbing the back of his neck. "Classic superhero stuff. But how do we get
back? Miguel took my dimension-traveling watch."
"I have brought you here using the last
of my strength," The Weaver said, its glass body beginning to aggressively
splinter and crack. "I will use my dying essence to weave a tether between
the three of you. As long as you remain united, you can travel the pathways I
open. But heed my warning..."
The Weaver leaned forward, its warm golden
light fixing on the three boys.
"The monsters guarding the Anchors are
beyond anything you have faced alone. They are infused with multiversal energy.
If you try to fight your own battles solo, you will perish. Your powers, your
destinies, your souls... they must intertwine. You must become a triad."
The golden orb in the center of the Weaver’s
head suddenly shattered like a lightbulb.
A wave of warm, golden energy washed over
Izuku, Miles, and Yuji. It didn't hurt. It felt like a comforting embrace. On
the back of Izuku’s right hand, Miles’ left hand, and Yuji’s chest, a small,
glowing symbol appeared—a triangle made of three interconnected circles.
"The tether is forged," The Weaver’s
voice was now a fading whisper on the wind. "Behind me, three rifts
remain. Choose your path. Save your worlds, Successors. The tapestry rests in
your hands."
With a sound like a wind chime in a hurricane,
the Weaver of Panes shattered entirely, dissolving into a shower of golden dust
that faded into the void.
Left in its wake, hovering a few inches above
the floating island, were three swirling portals. One glowed with a sickening,
toxic purple light. One pulsed with a chaotic, glitching red and blue. The
third radiated a dark, blood-red aura.
For a long time, no one spoke.
The weight of the universe—three universes,
actually—had just been dropped squarely onto the shoulders of three teenagers.
Miles walked over to a piece of broken
concrete, sat down heavily, and let his head fall into his hands. "Man.
And I thought dealing with the Spot was stressful. This is... this is a lot.
Whole universes getting erased? I don't even know if I'm ready for AP Physics,
let alone multiversal custodianship."
Izuku slowly walked over and sat down a few
feet away from Miles. He stared at his gloved hands, watching his fingers
tremble. He clenched them into fists.
"We can do this," Izuku said, his
voice quiet but laced with an unyielding iron.
Yuji remained standing, staring at the three
portals. He crossed his arms. "The glass guy said the monsters guarding
these things are strong. Multiversal strong. We don't even know what we're
walking into."
"Then we make a plan," Izuku said,
looking up, the heroic fire returning to his emerald eyes. He pointed to his
head. "We need to understand each other's capabilities. If we have to
fight as a team, we can't afford friendly fire like earlier. We need synergy."
Miles lifted his head, a small smile creeping
onto his face. "Synergy. Nice corporate buzzword, Deku. Okay, I'll bite.
Let's do a resume rundown. I'm Spider-Man. I got bit by a radioactive spider
from another dimension."
Yuji blinked. "A spider bit you, and now
you have superpowers?"
"Yeah. Super strength, agility, I can
stick to walls. I have this thing called a Spider-Sense that warns me when
danger is coming. Oh, and I can turn completely invisible," Miles ticked
off his fingers. "And I can generate bio-electricity from my body. I call
it a Venom Blast."
Izuku’s eyes were practically sparkling. He
was frantically muttering, committing every detail to his encyclopedic memory.
"Invisibility and bio-electricity? That's incredible! The stealth
applications combined with an area-of-effect stun attack make you a perfect
vanguard and tactician. Does the electricity conduct through your
webbing?"
"Uh, yeah, actually. It does," Miles
chuckled, slightly overwhelmed by Izuku’s intense fanboy energy. "What
about you, green bean? What's your deal? You mentioned Quirks earlier."
"Right!" Izuku nodded. "In my
world, most people are born with superpowers called Quirks. Mine is called One
For All. It's a stockpiling power passed down from generation to generation. It
grants me immense physical strength, speed, and durability."
"Passed down?" Yuji asked, turning
away from the portals to look at Izuku. "Like a cursed object? You ate
something?"
Izuku flushed, remembering eating All Might's
hair. "Uh, something like that. But One For All also contains the Quirks
of the past users. I can generate Blackwhip—those tendrils you saw—from my arms
to capture enemies or swing from buildings. I can create a smokescreen, I can
store kinetic energy for explosive bursts of speed, and I have a Danger Sense
similar to your Spider-Sense, Miles."
"Okay, so you're the heavy hitter with
utility," Miles nodded appreciatively. "Swiss army knife of heroism.
Respect. What about you, Yuji? What's a Jujutsu Sorcerer?"
The mood instantly shifted. The air around
Yuji grew heavy, the faint smile vanishing from his face.
Yuji walked over and leaned against the ruined
subway car, looking down at his bruised hands. "My world is... different
from yours. We don't have Quirks. We have Cursed Energy. It leaks out of
ordinary people when they feel negative emotions—fear, anger, grief. When too
much of it pools in one place, it creates Cursed Spirits. Monsters."
Izuku and Miles listened in rapt silence,
sensing the deep, agonizing trauma in Yuji’s voice.
"Sorcerers use their own Cursed Energy to
fight them," Yuji continued, his voice monotone. "I'm a
close-quarters fighter. I don't have fancy webs or tendrils. I just channel
Cursed Energy into my strikes to exorcise them. If I hit hard enough, and my
concentration is perfect, I can create a spatial distortion called a Black
Flash. It exponentially increases the impact of my hit."
"That's amazing, Yuji," Izuku said
earnestly. "You protect people from their own nightmares."
"I try," Yuji whispered, looking
away. "But... my world is messed up. A while ago, I ate a real cursed
object. A finger belonging to the King of Curses, Sukuna. He lives inside me
now." Yuji tapped his chest. "I'm his vessel. He's evil. Pure evil.
And because of him... because of me... a lot of people have died. People I
loved."
Izuku felt a pang in his chest. He saw the
look in Yuji’s eyes. It was the same look Izuku had seen in his own mirror
during the Dark Hero arc, when he had abandoned his friends to hunt Shigaraki
alone, convinced his mere presence was a danger to everyone he cared about.
Miles felt it too. He recognized the crushing
weight of guilt. The guilt of Uncle Aaron dying in his arms. The guilt of
knowing that being a hero often meant the people around you paid the price.
Miles stood up, walking over to Yuji. He
didn't offer pity. He offered solidarity. He held out his fist.
"In my world," Miles said softly,
"Spider-Man always loses someone. It's like... a twisted rule of the
universe. I lost my uncle. It tore me apart. But we don't fight because we're
perfect, man. We fight so no one else has to feel that kind of loss."
Yuji stared at Miles’ fist.
Izuku stood up and walked over, placing his
hand gently on Yuji’s shoulder. "Before I got my Quirk, I was quirkless. I
was completely powerless. I know what it feels like to think you're a burden,
Yuji. But you aren't a vessel to me. You're a hero. You saved me from that
falling pillar."
Yuji looked at the two boys. Izuku’s earnest,
emerald eyes, filled with unrelenting hope. Miles’ steady, empathetic gaze,
filled with understanding.
For the first time since the Shibuya incident
began, Yuji felt a spark of something other than despair. He felt the warmth of
camaraderie. These boys didn't know his sins, but they understood his pain. And
they didn't care. They just wanted to help.
Slowly, Yuji raised his bruised hand and
bumped his fist against Miles’.
"Okay," Yuji said, exhaling a long
breath. "Okay. Let's do this."
"That's what I'm talking about!"
Miles grinned, turning back to Izuku. "Alright, Captain Deku, what's the
play? Which portal we hitting first?"
Izuku stepped up to the three swirling rifts.
He closed his eyes, focusing on the Danger Sense buzzing at the base of his
skull.
The purple portal to his world felt chaotic,
but stable.
The glitching portal to Miles’ world felt
erratic, humming with a slow-building pressure.
But the blood-red portal to Yuji’s world... it
felt like an open wound. It was screaming in agony.
Izuku opened his eyes and pointed to the red
portal. "There. Yuji's world. The anchor there feels the most aggressive.
If we don't stop it soon, the Cursed Energy will accelerate the collapse."
Yuji nodded, his expression hardening into
stone. "We're going to Shibuya. It's a warzone right now. Curses
everywhere. The Anchor probably merged with something nasty. Stay close to me,
and whatever you do, do not let a Curse touch you if it has a domain."
"Understood," Izuku said, pulling
his respirator back up over his mouth, his eyes narrowing in focus.
Miles pulled his mask down, the white lenses
snapping into place. "Alright, boys. Let's go save the multiverse. Triad
of Successors, moving out."
Yuji stepped forward first, staring into the
blood-red rift that led back to his nightmare. He didn't feel the crushing
dread he had felt an hour ago. He wasn't walking in alone.
Without looking back, Yuji stepped into the
portal. Izuku and Miles followed instantly, side by side, leaping into the
unknown.
The void fell silent once more as the red
portal snapped shut behind them, leaving only two rifts, waiting for the heroes
to return.
The tether woven by the dying Weaver of Panes
felt less like a bridge and more like a rip in the fabric of a dream.
As Izuku, Miles, and Yuji stepped through the
blood-red portal, they didn't walk; they plummeted. The sensation was violently
disorienting, a high-speed freefall through a kaleidoscope of jagged red and
black fractals. Izuku squeezed his eyes shut, his stomach lurching as the
pressure inside his skull spiked. Beside him, he could hear Miles let out a
breathless, static-laced yell.
The only thing anchoring them to existence was
the faint, warm, golden glow burning on Izuku’s hand, Miles’ hand, and Yuji’s
chest. The triad symbol pulsed in time with their synchronized heartbeats.
Then, the freefall ended with a sickening
crunch.
They slammed onto solid ground. Izuku hit the
pavement gracefully, a quick burst of One For All at five percent allowing him
to tuck and roll, absorbing the kinetic energy. Miles wasn't so lucky, tumbling
over a mound of debris and landing unceremoniously in a puddle of murky water.
Yuji landed perfectly on his feet, his knees bending silently to absorb the
shock, a ghost returning to his haunt.
"Ugh, I swallowed dimension juice,"
Miles groaned, pushing himself up onto his hands and knees and spitting out a
mouthful of foul-tasting rainwater. "Rating that interdimensional Uber a
solid one star."
Izuku stood up, dusting off his green hero
costume, and immediately began his standard post-landing protocol. Assess the
environment. Locate civilians. Identify hazards.
He looked around. And then, Izuku Midoriya
froze.
The analytical engine in his brain, usually
capable of processing a dozen variables a second, ground to a terrifying halt.
He had seen destruction before. He had seen
the aftermath of Tomura Shigaraki’s decay wave in Jaku City. He had seen Kamino
Ward leveled by All For One. But this... this was a fundamentally different
breed of devastation.
They were standing in the middle of a massive
metropolitan intersection. Above them, the sky was a bruised, diseased purple,
weeping a torrential, freezing rain. Surrounding them were skyscrapers that had
been hollowed out, their steel skeletons twisted and melted like wax. Giant,
perfectly spherical craters, hundreds of meters wide, had been carved out of
the city blocks, leaving nothing but smooth, pulverized dust in their wake.
But it wasn't the structural damage that
paralyzed Izuku. It was the atmosphere.
The air was so thick, so impossibly heavy, it
felt like breathing underwater. It smelled of copper, ozone, and rotting meat.
Every surface—the shattered asphalt, the overturned cars, the shattered glass
of storefronts—was painted with a gruesome smear of crimson and black.
This wasn't a battlefield. This was a
slaughterhouse.
"Oh, man..." Miles whispered, his
voice trembling. He stood up, his white lenses widening as he looked around.
The vibrant, neon aesthetic of his Brooklyn was entirely absent. The world here
was muted, leached of all color except for the pervasive, sickening red.
"Yuji... is this..."
"Yeah," Yuji said. His voice was
entirely devoid of emotion. It was hollow, echoing against the ruined
buildings. "Welcome to Shibuya."
Izuku’s breathing grew shallow. His eyes
darted around, searching for the flashing lights of ambulances, the bright
costumes of Pro Heroes, the barricades of the police force. There was nothing.
Just an oppressive, suffocating silence.
"Where are the rescue teams?" Izuku
asked, his voice cracking, stepping forward frantically. "Yuji, where are
the shelters? The paramedics? We need to establish a perimeter and start
looking for survivors in the rubble! I can use Blackwhip to lift the heavier debris,
and Miles, you can—"
"Deku. Stop," Yuji interrupted.
Izuku stopped, turning to look at the
pink-haired boy. Yuji was staring at a massive, bloody handprint smeared across
the side of a crushed city bus.
"There's no one to rescue," Yuji
said softly. "The civilians are gone. The ones that didn't run... they
were transfigured. Or eaten. Or caught in Sukuna's domain." Yuji’s hands
balled into tight fists, his knuckles turning white. "There are no heroes
here to save the day, Deku. It's just us."
Miles stepped closer to Izuku, wrapping his
arms around himself to ward off the freezing rain. "Bro, I don't mean to
be disrespectful, but your world is a literal horror movie. It feels like the
air itself is trying to kill me."
"That's the Cursed Energy," Yuji
explained, his eyes scanning the dark alleyways and ruined storefronts.
"After the Shibuya incident, Tokyo became a breeding ground. Millions of
people generating fear and despair. It pools here. It creates Cursed Spirits.
And with the Convergence Anchor here..."
Yuji pointed toward the center of the
district, where the towering Shibuya 109 building—now bisected and
crumbling—stood. Above it, swirling in the sky, was a massive, localized vortex
of dark crimson energy. It looked like a bleeding eye in the heavens.
"The Anchor is drawing them in like moths
to a flame," Yuji finished.
"Then that's our target," Izuku
said. He forced his panic down, locking it in a mental box. He couldn't afford
to break down. A hero smiles to reassure the people, All Might had taught him.
But there was no one here to smile for. Izuku adjusted his metal respirator,
his emerald eyes hardening into a fierce glare. "We push to that building,
locate the Anchor, and destroy it."
Zzzzt.
Miles suddenly gasped, his hands flying to the
sides of his head. He staggered back, his mask lenses narrowing into thin,
sharp slits.
"Miles?" Izuku reached out.
"My head," Miles hissed through his
teeth. "My Spider-Sense... it's going absolutely crazy. It's like static
screaming in my ears. But it's not coming from one place."
Izuku’s own Danger Sense flared to life. It
wasn't the sharp needle of a directed attack. It was a dull, agonizing throb, a
pressure wrapping around his entire skull.
"They know we're here," Yuji said,
dropping into a low martial arts stance, the dark blue aura of Cursed Energy
instantly igniting around his fists.
From the shadows of the alleyways, from the
craters, from the broken windows of the skyscrapers, they emerged.
Izuku’s breath hitched in his throat. He had
fought the Nomu—genetically engineered monsters made from corpses. But the
things crawling out of the woodwork of Shibuya defied all biological logic.
There were creatures with bloated, pale bodies
and dozens of tiny, human-like hands for legs. There were floating, bulbous
heads with hollowed-out eyes, weeping black sludge. There were misshapen,
multi-limbed beasts that chattered their teeth in a sickening, rhythmic
percussion.
Grade 3 and Grade 4 Curses. Hundreds of them.
Drawn by the fresh, vibrant life force of Izuku and Miles, and the hated,
familiar scent of Yuji Itadori.
"Okay," Miles swallowed hard,
popping his knuckles, blue and yellow sparks of bio-electricity flaring to life
across his suit. "I take back what I said about Tuesdays. I really hate
Tuesdays."
"Don't let them touch you!" Yuji
yelled over the sudden cacophony of monstrous screeches. "They carry
curses, diseases, and some can warp your soul! Stay mobile!"
The horde of Curses surged forward like a
tidal wave of rotting flesh and nightmare logic.
Izuku moved first. "One For All: Full
Cowl! Twenty Percent!"
He rocketed forward, a streak of emerald
lightning cutting through the gray rain. A massive, toad-like Curse with a
tongue made of barbed wire lunged at him. Izuku didn't flinch. He ducked under
the tongue, planted his hands on the flooded asphalt, and executed a flawless,
spinning breakdance kick.
"St. Louis Smash!"
His metal-soled boot collided with the Curse’s
jaw. The air pressure alone generated a shockwave that blew the rainwater
backward. The Curse’s head twisted at a horrific angle, its neck snapping with
a sound like a breaking tree branch, and it was sent hurtling into a nearby
brick wall.
But to Izuku's horror, the Curse didn't stay
down. Its neck simply twisted back into place with a sickening squelch, and it
began to crawl toward him again.
"They don't go down from blunt force
trauma!" Yuji shouted, blurring past Izuku.
Yuji intercepted the toad-Curse. He didn't use
a named attack. He didn't need to. He simply drove a Cursed-Energy-laced fist
directly into the creature's chest. The dark blue energy flared violently,
sinking into the Curse's body. A fraction of a second later, the delayed impact
of the Divergent Fist detonated.
The Curse expanded like a balloon and exploded
into a shower of purple ash and dissipating negative energy.
Izuku stared, horrified. "You... you
killed it!"
"It's not alive, Deku!" Yuji yelled back,
spinning to backhand a floating, shrieking head. "They're just
manifestations of negative emotion! You have to obliterate them, or they'll
just keep regenerating! Your physical attacks will only stall them!"
"He's right, man!" Miles shouted
from above.
Miles was in his element, entirely airborne.
He swung from a streetlamp, launching himself into the air. A cluster of
flying, bat-like Curses swarmed him.
But Miles had an advantage no Jujutsu Sorcerer
ever had. His Spider-Sense, tuned to the multiversal web of destiny, was
picking up the Cursed Energy as pure, unadulterated "danger." Every
time a Curse generated the intent to attack, Miles felt it a full second before
they moved.
He moved with liquid grace, twisting,
flipping, and contorting his body in mid-air, dodging razor-sharp claws and
toxic spit by mere millimeters.
"You guys are so ugly! Seriously, who is
your character designer?!" Miles taunted. He fired two web lines, sticking
to the faces of two Curses, and yanked them together, smashing their heads into
each other.
"Eat this! Venom Blast!"
Miles channeled his bio-electricity through
the web lines. A massive surge of blue and yellow lightning traveled down the
synthetic webbing and struck the Curses. The bio-electricity, acting as a raw,
positive, energetic force, violently clashed with the negative Cursed Energy.
The resulting reaction was explosive. The Curses shrieked as their bodies were
fried from the inside out, turning to ash.
"Whoa!" Miles landed on the side of
a building, looking at his hands. "Okay, so my Venom Blast works on them!
Good to know!"
"Deku! Use your powers to control the
crowd! Set them up, we'll knock them down!" Yuji ordered, taking on the
role of the seasoned veteran in this nightmare.
Izuku’s tactical mind immediately snapped into
focus. He pushed aside his aversion to lethal force—these weren't villains;
these were unthinking natural disasters.
"Copy that!" Izuku shouted. He
jumped backward, landing on the roof of a crushed car. He activated the Quirk
of the Sixth User. "Smokescreen!"
A massive, dense cloud of purple smoke erupted
from Izuku's body, instantly covering the intersection and blinding the horde
of Curses. The monsters shrieked in confusion, thrashing blindly.
"Miles! Above!" Izuku yelled, firing
six strands of Blackwhip into the smoke. He used Danger Sense to locate the
Curses within the cloud, wrapping the tendrils around the waists and limbs of a
dozen monsters.
With a roar of effort, Izuku activated Fa Jin,
releasing stored kinetic energy, and violently yanked his arms upward. He
ripped a dozen Curses out of the smoke, launching them high into the air.
"I got 'em!" Miles leaped off the
building, turning completely invisible mid-air. He fell right into the center
of the airborne Curses, reappearing as he unleashed a massive, radial burst of
bio-electricity. "Mega Venom Blast!"
A dome of brilliant blue lightning illuminated
the dark skies of Shibuya, instantly incinerating the suspended Curses in a
blinding flash.
Down on the ground, Yuji used the cover of
Izuku's smoke to move like a ghost. He darted between the remaining Curses, his
fists and feet glowing with dark energy. Every strike was perfectly placed,
brutally efficient. He didn't waste a single movement. Punch, exorcise. Kick,
exorcise.
Within three minutes, the intersection was
silent once more, save for the patter of the freezing rain. The horde of Grade
3 and 4 Curses had been reduced to nothing but purple ash washing away in the
gutters.
Izuku deactivated Full Cowl, panting softly.
He looked at Yuji, who was shaking the ash off his hands with a practiced, numb
indifference. Izuku felt a deep ache in his chest. Yuji was his age. He
shouldn't be so used to slaughter.
Miles dropped down from a web-line, landing
lightly next to them. He pulled his mask up halfway to wipe the sweat from his
chin. "Okay. Teamwork makes the dream work. That was a solid 8/10 combo,
boys."
"That was just the fodder," Yuji
said, looking toward the Shibuya 109 building. The crimson vortex above it was
spinning faster now. "The Anchor is reacting to our energy. It knows we're
coming. We need to move before it sends something worse."
"Right," Izuku nodded, his
expression grim. "Let's stick to the rooftops. Less chance of getting
ambushed, and we can maintain a visual on the target."
The trio moved silently across the ruined
skyline of Shibuya. Miles used his webbing to swing between the shattered
skyscrapers, while Izuku carried Yuji, using Blackwhip and bursts of Full Cowl
to bound across the massive gaps.
As they drew closer to the center of the
district, the environment began to change.
It wasn't a gradual shift. It was an abrupt,
horrifying transition.
Izuku landed on the roof of a department store
about two blocks away from the 109 building and immediately dropped to his
knees, gasping for air.
"Deku! What's wrong?!" Yuji asked,
dropping beside him.
Miles landed a second later, stumbling and
clutching his chest. "Bro... what is... I can't breathe. The air feels
like... like lead."
"We crossed the boundary," Yuji
grimaced, his own Cursed Energy flaring instinctively to protect his body.
"It's an innate domain. The monster guarding the Anchor is emitting a
barrier of pure, concentrated despair."
Izuku squeezed his eyes shut. It wasn't just
physical pressure. It was psychological. The moment they had crossed the
invisible line, a wave of crushing, paralyzing depression had slammed into
Izuku's mind.
He suddenly heard a voice.
You’re just a Quirkless nobody, Deku. You
can't save anyone.
It was Bakugo's voice, from middle school.
Then, it shifted. It was Sir Nighteye, bleeding out on the hospital bed. I'm
sorry, Midoriya. The future... it's dark.
Izuku gripped his head, tears welling in his
eyes. The weight of his responsibilities—the legacy of One For All, the
expectation to be the next Symbol of Peace, the terrified faces of the
civilians he couldn't reach in time during the war—it all rushed to the
surface, magnified a thousand times. I'm not strong enough. I'm going to fail
them. I'm going to fail everyone.
Beside him, Miles was curled into a ball on
the rooftop, his breathing erratic.
You're a mistake, Miles, a deep, distorted
voice echoed in his head. The voice of Miguel O'Hara. You don't belong here.
You're just a kid playing dress-up. Uncle Aaron died because of you. And Gwen
is going to die because of you.
Miles clawed at his mask, trying to tear it
off, a sob catching in his throat. "Stop... stop it, please..."
Yuji stood between them. He felt the despair,
too. He heard Sukuna laughing in his ear. He saw the bodies of the people in
Shibuya, bisected by Malevolent Shrine. He saw Nanami, half of his body burned
away, looking at him. You've got it from here.
But Yuji Itadori was already broken. You
cannot shatter a glass that has already been ground into dust.
Yuji bit down on his lip hard enough to draw
blood. The sharp physical pain cut through the psychological fog. He dropped to
his knees, grabbing Izuku by the shoulder and Miles by the arm.
"Listen to me!" Yuji shouted,
shaking them violently. "It's not real! It's a Cursed Technique! It's
feeding on your doubts! You have to push it back!"
Izuku looked up, his green eyes clouded with
tears. "Yuji... I can't... I have to save them... but I'm just one
person..."
"You're not one person anymore!"
Yuji roared. "Look at your hand!"
Izuku blinked, looking down at his right hand.
The golden symbol of the triad—the three connected circles—was glowing brightly
through his glove.
Miles saw it too, glowing on the back of his
left hand.
The warmth of the Weaver's tether flared to
life. As it glowed, the oppressive voices in their heads began to recede,
pushed back by the combined willpower of the three heroes. Izuku felt Miles’
stubborn resilience. Miles felt Izuku’s unyielding hope. And they both felt
Yuji’s absolute, unwavering resolve to keep moving forward, no matter the cost.
Izuku gasped, taking a massive gulp of air as
the psychological weight lifted. He wiped his eyes, his breathing stabilizing.
"I'm... I'm okay," Izuku whispered,
sitting up. "Thank you, Yuji."
Miles pulled his mask back down, slapping his
own cheeks. "Man. That was dark. We need to smash this Anchor, stat,
before I need ten years of therapy."
"We're close," Yuji said, standing
up and pointing down toward the street below.
They walked to the edge of the roof and looked
down into the massive plaza surrounding the Shibuya 109 building.
The street was gone. In its place was a
massive, fleshy crater, pulsing like a heartbeat. At the very center of the
crater, floating a few feet off the ground, was the Convergence Anchor. It was
a jagged, crystalline shard the size of a car, glowing with an intense, bloody
light.
But it wasn't unguarded.
Wrapped around the Anchor, fused to it, was a
monster that made the previous Curses look like children's toys.
It was a chimera of Special Grade Curses. It
had the massive, muscular torso of a humanoid giant, but its skin was a sickly,
translucent white, revealing a network of pulsing black veins beneath. Instead
of a head, a massive, blooming flower made of human hands and screaming mouths
rested on its shoulders. It had six arms, each ending in a different weapon
grown from bone and Cursed Energy—a massive cleaver, a spiked mace, a scythe.
As they watched, the monster reached out,
grabbed a wandering Grade 2 Curse, and shoved the screaming creature into the
flower-mouth on its shoulders, consuming it to fuel the Anchor.
"Analysis," Izuku whispered, his
eyes narrowing, his mind completely focused. The hero was back. "It's
huge, which means it likely has high durability, but potentially lower
mobility. It has six arms, meaning engaging it in close-quarters combat from a
single vector is suicide. The Anchor is embedded in its chest cavity. We have
to breach the armor to reach it."
"It's absorbing lesser Curses to heal and
power up," Yuji added, his eyes locked on the beast. "It's a Cursed
Womb adaptation. If we don't kill it fast, it will keep regenerating."
"So we hit it fast, hit it hard, from all
sides," Miles said, his bio-electricity crackling. "I'll take the
high ground. Draw its attention. You two go for the kneecaps."
"Agreed," Izuku said. "Yuji,
you have the highest striking power against these things. I'll use Blackwhip to
bind its arms, open up its guard, and you deliver the killing blow to the
Anchor."
"Got it," Yuji said. He cracked his
neck, the dark blue aura flaring around his body like a raging fire.
The triad leaped from the roof, descending
into the fleshy crater of the Domain.
The monster sensed them instantly. The flower
of hands on its shoulders snapped toward them, and a dozen mouths shrieked in
unison, a sound that threatened to shatter their eardrums.
"Spread out!" Izuku commanded.
Miles fired a web, swinging aggressively to
the left, latching onto a ruined billboard. Izuku activated Full Cowl,
rocketing to the right, green lightning carving a trench in the fleshy ground.
Yuji charged straight down the middle, a bullet of pure kinetic and Cursed
Energy.
The monster reacted with terrifying speed,
proving Izuku's initial assessment of its mobility wrong. It swung its massive
bone-cleaver in a wide, horizontal arc toward Yuji.
"Too slow!" Yuji ducked under the
blade, the wind pressure tearing a gash across his shoulder. He planted his
foot, launching himself upward toward the monster's chest. "Divergent
Fist!"
Yuji slammed his glowing fist into the
monster's ribcage. The double-impact detonated. A massive chunk of the beast's
translucent white armor shattered, revealing the glowing red Convergence Anchor
beneath.
But the monster didn't stagger. It simply
twisted its torso, bringing its spiked mace down toward Yuji in a crushing
blow.
THWIP! THWIP!
Two thick strands of webbing shot out,
adhering to the monster's mace arm. Miles, anchored to the billboard, strained
with all his might, his muscles bulging beneath his suit. "Not today,
ugly!"
Miles yanked backward, altering the trajectory
of the mace just enough. It slammed into the ground inches from Yuji, kicking
up a shower of debris.
"Blackwhip!" Izuku yelled from the
monster's flank.
Black tendrils shot out, wrapping tightly
around the monster's scythe arm and two of its empty, clawed hands. Izuku
grounded himself, his metal soles digging deep into the crater. "I've got
its right side!"
"My turn!" Miles leaped off the
billboard, swinging directly over the monster's head. "Hey! Catch!"
Miles dropped two web-grenades into the center
of the flower-mouth. The webs exploded, filling the screaming mouths with
hardened, conductive synthetic fluid. Miles landed on the beast's shoulder,
pressed his hands into the webbing, and unleashed a massive Venom Blast
directly into its central nervous system.
The monster convulsed violently, shrieking
through the webbing as the bio-electricity fried its synapses.
"Yuji! Now!" Izuku screamed,
straining as the monster thrashed against his Blackwhip.
Yuji was already moving. He leaped onto the
shaft of the embedded mace, using it as a springboard. He launched himself
directly at the exposed chest cavity, aiming straight for the glowing red
Anchor.
He pulled his right fist back. His
concentration narrowed to an absolute singularity. The world around him faded
into slow motion. He didn't hear the monster's shrieks. He didn't hear Izuku's
strain or Miles' electricity. He only saw the target.
The Cursed Energy in his body converged with
perfect, microscopic precision. The space around his fist began to warp and
distort.
Black Flash.
Yuji’s fist slammed into the Convergence
Anchor.
The impact triggered a spatial distortion, a
blinding flash of black and red lightning that lit up the entirety of Shibuya.
The concussive boom was so loud it shattered the remaining glass in every
building within a mile radius.
The force of the blow was catastrophic. The
shockwave ripped through the monster's body, tearing its remaining limbs off
and obliterating its torso. The beast let out one final, gurgling cry before it
was entirely atomized, turning into a massive cloud of purple ash.
Yuji fell through the air, landing heavily on
his feet as the ash rained down around him.
The Anchor, however, was not destroyed.
The jagged red crystal hit the ground with a
heavy thud, spider-webbed with massive cracks from Yuji's Black Flash, but
still intact. It pulsed violently, a dying, erratic heartbeat, trying
desperately to repair itself.
"It's still active!" Izuku yelled,
releasing his Blackwhip and sprinting toward the crystal. "It needs a
combined strike! Yuji's energy alone isn't enough to shatter the multiversal
casing!"
Miles swung down, landing next to the crystal.
"Then we hit it together! Right now!"
"On my mark!" Izuku commanded,
sliding into position on the left side of the Anchor. He powered up One For All
to forty-five percent. "Miles, right side! Yuji, center!"
Miles raised his hands, charging his Venom
Blast to maximum capacity, his suit glowing incredibly bright.
Yuji stood in the center, drawing out every
last drop of Cursed Energy in his reserves, readying another Divergent Fist.
"Three!" Izuku yelled.
"Two!" Miles echoed.
"One!" Yuji roared.
"SMASH!" Izuku drove his boot into
the crystal.
"VENOM BLAST!" Miles slammed both
palms into the crystal.
"DIE!" Yuji drove his fist directly
into the cracks he had created.
Green kinetic energy, blue bio-electricity,
and dark cursed energy collided perfectly in the center of the Convergence
Anchor. For a split second, the energies fought each other, before harmonizing
into a brilliant, blinding white light.
With the sound of a million panes of glass
shattering at once, the Convergence Anchor exploded.
The blast wave knocked all three boys
backward, sending them sprawling into the dirt.
Izuku groaned, sitting up and rubbing his
head. He looked toward the center of the crater.
The crystal was gone. In its place, a small,
swirling red portal—the tether back to the void—had opened.
Izuku looked up. The massive crimson vortex
that had been plaguing the sky above Shibuya was dissipating. The bruised,
purple clouds were breaking apart, and for the first time since the boys had
arrived, a sliver of pale moonlight broke through, casting a gentle glow over
the ruined city.
The oppressive, suffocating domain of despair
vanished entirely. The air felt clean again. Cold, but clean.
Miles lay on his back, starfishing in the
dirt, breathing heavily. "We did it. One down. I am officially putting
this on my college application."
Yuji stood up slowly. He looked around at the
ruined city. It was still destroyed. The people were still gone. But the
oppressive malice that had hung over Shibuya like a shroud was gone. The Anchor
wasn't feeding on his world anymore.
For a moment, Yuji felt a weight lift from his
shoulders. It didn't fix his trauma, but it was a victory. And he hadn't done
it alone.
Izuku walked over and offered Yuji a hand.
Yuji looked at it, then took it, letting the green-haired boy pull him up.
"Your world is safe from the King,
Yuji," Izuku said, offering a warm, genuine smile. "We did
good."
Yuji looked at Izuku, then over at Miles, who
was groaning as he peeled himself off the ground.
"Yeah," Yuji said, a faint smile
touching his lips. "We did good. But we still have two more to go."
"Right," Izuku nodded, his
expression turning serious. He looked at the red portal. "The tether is
waiting. My world, or Miles'?"
"Let's go to yours, Deku," Miles
said, walking over and brushing the dirt off his suit. "I want to see what
a world full of registered, legally-employed superheroes looks like. Sounds
like a logistical nightmare, honestly."
"It's... complicated," Izuku
admitted, scratching the back of his neck. "But I think you'll like
it."
Yuji turned toward the portal. He took one
last look at his ruined city, bathed in the pale moonlight. He would be back.
He had a duty to finish here. But right now, his new friends needed him.
"Lead the way, Captain Deku," Yuji
said.
United by the glowing tether on their skin,
the Triad of Successors stepped into the portal, leaving the graveyard of Tokyo
behind, ready to face the world of heroes.
