Men are not created equal.
This was the harsh, undeniable truth of the
world that Izuku Midoriya learned at the tender age of four. In a society where
eighty percent of the global population possessed some kind of uncanny,
superhuman ability known as a "Quirk," the disparity between the
strong and the weak was established early on. Some children were born with the
ability to levitate a pencil; others were born with the power to level entire
city blocks with a flick of their wrist.
But there was another truth that Izuku would
come to learn, a truth older than humanity itself, carved into the fossilized
bedrock of the Earth: In every ecosystem, there is an apex.
The playground was bathed in the warm, golden
light of a late spring afternoon. The air smelled of woodchips, ozone, and the
faint, burnt-sugar scent of nitroglycerin. Beneath the shade of a large oak
tree, a boy was crying on the ground, clutching his bruised knee. Standing over
him, a cruel smirk playing on his childish lips, was Katsuki Bakugo. Small,
crackling explosions popped in the palms of his hands like firecrackers, a
brilliant and violent manifestation of his newly awakened Quirk. Two other boys
stood behind Katsuki, snickering like scavenging hyenas trailing behind a lion.
"You're in my way," Katsuki sneered,
stepping closer to the weeping boy. "If you don't want to get hurt, you
shouldn't be so weak."
Before Katsuki could unleash another spark, a
small figure stepped between the explosive blonde and his victim.
It was Izuku. He was trembling, his small
fists clenched so tightly at his sides that his knuckles were white. He was
terrified of Katsuki’s explosions, terrified of the pain, but something deeper,
something ancient and undeniable, was screaming at him from the very marrow of
his bones.
Protect.
"That's enough, Kacchan!" Izuku
yelled, his voice cracking but resolute. He threw his arms out wide, shielding
the injured boy behind him. "Can't you see he's crying? If you keep going,
I... I'll stop you myself!"
Katsuki paused, his crimson eyes narrowing in disbelief.
Then, a dark, mocking grin split his face. "You? Stop me? Don't make me
laugh, Izuku. You don't even have a Quirk yet. You're just a weakling. A
Deku."
Katsuki lunged forward, his right hand pulled
back, the center of his palm glowing with violent orange heat. "I'll show
you what happens when you stand up to the best!"
Izuku squeezed his eyes shut, raising his arms
to brace for the burning impact. But in that split second, something within the
deepest, most dormant strands of his DNA snapped awake. It was not a gentle
awakening. It felt as though a volcano had erupted within his chest. A torrent
of liquid fire surged through his veins, hotter and more intense than anything
Katsuki could ever produce. Izuku's heartbeat slowed, then hammered with a
thundering, rhythmic boom that seemed to shake the very earth beneath his
sneakers.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
Katsuki’s fist descended. But it never
connected.
A sound echoed across the playground—a sound
that did not belong in the modern world. It was a guttural, bone-rattling hiss
that rapidly escalated into a deafening, earth-shattering roar. It was a sound
that commanded absolute, paralyzing terror.
Katsuki froze, his explosions fizzling out
instantly. His crimson eyes went wide, the pupils shrinking to pinpricks as all
the color drained from his face. The two lackeys behind him fell to their
knees, whimpering in sudden, inexplicable panic. Even the birds in the oak tree
scattered in a frenzy of frantic wings.
Izuku opened his eyes. The world looked
different. Sharper. He could see the individual beads of sweat on Katsuki's
forehead, hear the frantic, rabbit-like fluttering of his heart. And his
arms... they felt heavy.
He looked down. His soft, pale skin was gone,
replaced from the mid-bicep down by thick, overlapping plates of dark emerald
scales. His fingers had elongated, the joints hardening into thick, calloused
flesh, while his fingernails had grown into five-inch, razor-sharp, ebony
talons that gleamed menacingly in the sunlight.
But that was not what had paralyzed Katsuki.
Looming directly behind Izuku, towering over
the playground equipment, was a massive, spectral projection. It was made of shifting,
translucent green energy, resembling fossilized bones and ghostly muscle. It
was a skull. A colossal, terrifying skull with jaws lined with jagged, serrated
teeth the size of railroad spikes. The spectral Tyrannosaurus Rex snapped its
jaws with a phantom sound of crushing bone, its glowing, hollow eyes locked
entirely on Katsuki.
Izuku didn't understand what was happening to
him, but as he stared at Katsuki, he didn't feel fear anymore. He felt an
overwhelming sense of dominance. A wild, untamed instinct flared in his mind.
Challenge the alpha? The instinct whispered.
Crush the threat.
Izuku took a single step forward, his newly
clawed foot sinking deeply into the woodchips. The spectral T-Rex shadowed his
movement, lowering its massive snout.
"Stay away from my pack," Izuku
growled. His voice was no longer that of a four-year-old boy; it was layered
with a deep, resonant rumble that vibrated through the air.
Katsuki didn't say a word. The bravado, the
arrogance, the pride of his explosion Quirk—it was all completely suffocated by
a primal, evolutionary fear that screamed at him to run or die. The blonde boy
stumbled backward, tripped over his own feet, and scrambled away as fast as he
could, his cronies right behind him, crying for their mothers.
Izuku stood there for a moment, chest heaving.
The emerald scales on his arms began to recede, sinking back beneath his skin
until his arms were normal once more. The spectral T-Rex faded into green mist,
blowing away in the wind. Izuku’s legs gave out, and he collapsed onto his
knees, gasping for air.
He turned around to look at the boy he had
protected. The boy was staring at him, not with the terror Katsuki had shown,
but with profound awe.
"Y-You saved me," the boy whispered.
Izuku blinked, the wild instincts fading,
replaced by the gentle heart of a young boy who only wanted to be a hero. A
bright, sunny smile broke across his face. "Are you okay?"
That day, the doctors coined a new name for
the registry. They called his Quirk "Jurassic Sovereign."
It was a staggering, one-in-a-billion genetic
lottery. According to the specialists at the Musutafu Central Hospital, Izuku
possessed a Mutant/Emitter hybrid Quirk of unprecedented complexity. Not only
did his body house the dormant DNA blueprints of hundreds of prehistoric apex
predators, allowing him to partially or completely transform his body into a
multitude of dinosaurs, but he also emitted what the scientists dubbed an
"Alpha Aura." It was an invisible, passive psychic wavelength that
instilled instinctual submission and primal dread in adversaries, while
simultaneously radiating a sense of absolute security and loyalty to those
Izuku subconsciously deemed his "pack." Furthermore, his Emitter
classification came from his ability to summon the spectral, fossilized
constructs of these ancient beasts to fight alongside him.
His mother, Inko, had wept tears of joy and
terror. Joy that her son was blessed with a Quirk that could rival the number
one hero, All Might. Terror at the sheer, devastating nature of what her boy
could become.
Ten years passed.
Aldera Junior High was an ordinary school, but
Classroom 3-A was anything but ordinary. It was an ecosystem, and every student
in it knew their place in the food chain.
"Since you're all third-years, it's time
for you to think seriously about your futures!" the homeroom teacher
announced, standing at the front of the class with a thick stack of career
aptitude papers. "I'll pass out these handouts for your future plans now,
but..." He suddenly threw the stack of papers into the air, letting them
scatter like confetti. "You're all pretty much planning to go into the
hero course, right?!"
The classroom erupted in cheers. Students
activated their Quirks, showing off elongated fingers, rock-like skin, and
small jets of water.
"Yes, yes, you all have wonderful
Quirks," the teacher chuckled, trying to settle them down. "But
remember, using your Quirks on school grounds is strictly forbidden."
"Sensei! Don't lump me in with these
background characters!"
The loud, arrogant voice cut through the
noise. Katsuki Bakugo leaned back in his chair, his feet kicked up on his desk.
He smirked, letting a few sparks crackle in his palms. "They'll be lucky
to end up as sidekicks to some busted D-lister. I'm the real deal."
The class erupted in offended murmurs, but no
one actively challenged him. Bakugo's Explosion Quirk was devastating, and he
had the combat prowess to back it up.
"Ah, Bakugo, you're aiming for U.A. High,
aren't you?" the teacher noted, looking at his clipboard.
A collective gasp swept through the room.
"U.A.? The national school? The acceptance rate is insanely low!"
"That's exactly why it's the only place
fit for me!" Bakugo stood up, slamming his hands on his desk. "I aced
the mock exams! I'm the only one at this school who has the raw power to even
stand a chance! I'm going to surpass All Might himself and become the top hero!
My name will be inscribed on the list of the highest earners—"
"Actually, Midoriya is also applying for
U.A."
The teacher's voice casually interrupted
Bakugo's rant.
Instantly, the entire classroom went dead
silent. The atmosphere shifted. It wasn't the mocking, derisive silence of a
class preparing to bully a weakling. It was the tense, suffocating silence of
an audience watching a predator enter a clearing.
All eyes slowly turned to the back of the
classroom.
Izuku Midoriya sat quietly by the window. At
fourteen years old, he had grown into a formidable presence. He wasn't overly
bulky, but beneath his middle school uniform, his physique was lean, dense, and
heavily muscled, the result of carrying heavy, dormant mutant genes and years of
rigorous physical training to control his shifting body mass. His wild, unruly
green hair shadowed his face, but his eyes were bright, intelligent, and
currently focused entirely on the notebook in front of him: Hero Analysis for
the Future No. 13 - Biomechanics of Quirk Usage.
Sensing the silence, Izuku paused his writing.
He slowly looked up. For a fraction of a second, his pupils constricted into
vertical, reptilian slits before dilating back to round human shapes. A faint,
almost imperceptible wave of pressure washed over the room—the Alpha Aura.
Several students instinctively straightened their postures or looked away,
suddenly feeling very small.
Bakugo didn't look away. The blonde boy's jaw
tightened, a vein pulsing on his forehead.
The dynamic between Katsuki Bakugo and Izuku
Midoriya was famous throughout Aldera. They were not friends, but they were no
longer the bully and the victim. They were bitter, unrelenting rivals. Bakugo
was driven by an obsessive, burning need to prove that his modern, flashy
explosions were superior to Izuku's ancient, prehistoric might. He resented
Izuku. He resented the fear he had felt that day on the playground, and he
spent every waking moment trying to erase it. Izuku, on the other hand, viewed
Bakugo with a mix of respect and mild exasperation. Bakugo was strong,
undoubtedly, but Izuku's instincts constantly reminded him that he was the
apex. It was a delicate balance of power.
"Got a problem, Kacchan?" Izuku
asked, his voice calm, deep, and steady. He didn't raise his voice, but it
carried effortlessly across the silent room.
Bakugo's hands popped with louder, more
aggressive explosions. He marched down the aisle, stopping right at Izuku's
desk. The heat radiating from Bakugo was intense, but Izuku didn't flinch. He
just calmly closed his notebook.
"Don't think you're better than me,
Lizard," Bakugo snarled, leaning down so they were eye-to-eye. "Just
because you can turn into some oversized fossil doesn't mean you have what it
takes. U.A. is about real combat. Not standing around looking scary."
Izuku met Bakugo's furious crimson gaze.
Slowly, Izuku's right hand rested on his desk. The skin on his knuckles briefly
rippled, shifting into dark green, hardened scales before smoothing back into
human skin. The wood of the desk creaked ominously beneath his grip.
"I don't think I'm better than you,
Kacchan," Izuku replied evenly, his tone completely devoid of fear.
"Your Quirk is amazing. You're going to make an incredible pro.
But..." Izuku's eyes flashed, the emerald irises glowing with an inner,
primal fire. "I'm not going to lose to you. Not now. Not at U.A."
The tension was thick enough to cut with a
knife. For a moment, it looked as though Bakugo was going to ignite the desk.
But then, the blonde scoffed, turning away and shoving his hands into his
pockets.
"We'll see, Deku. The entrance exam will
prove who's at the top of the food chain."
Izuku watched him walk away. He didn't smile,
nor did he scowl. He merely picked up his pen, flipped his notebook open, and
resumed writing.
The food chain, Izuku thought. Kacchan still
doesn't get it. The food chain isn't a ladder you climb. It's a circle. And
right now... my blood is telling me the circle is about to break.
The afternoon sun was beginning to dip below
the skyline as Izuku walked home. His path took him through the underpass of
the Tatooin Shopping District. He was entirely lost in his thoughts, muttering
to himself as he reviewed the latest hero debut.
"Mt. Lady's gigantification is
impressive, but her center of gravity is too high. A sweeping attack at the
ankles could destabilize her entirely. If I were to engage a giant-type
villain, shifting my leg mass into a Brachiosaurus base would give me the
torque needed to uproot them, while a Triceratops cranium shift would provide
the perfect battering ram..."
Izuku stopped walking.
His muttering ceased. The hairs on the back of
his neck stood on end.
Before he heard the sirens, before he saw the
smoke, his body knew. His Quirk, "Jurassic Sovereign," provided him
with heavily enhanced sensory perception, a leftover trait from predators that
tracked their prey across continents.
The wind shifted, blowing through the
underpass. Izuku inhaled deeply, his nostrils flaring.
Smoke. Burning plastic. Sewers.
And beneath it all, a sharp, familiar, acrid
scent. Nitroglycerin.
Kacchan.
A spike of adrenaline hit Izuku's system like
a freight train. His heart began that slow, rhythmic, thundering boom. Thump.
Thump. Thump.
Pack in danger.
The primal instinct bypassed his logical
brain. Izuku didn't think about hero licenses or vigilante laws. His legs moved
before his mind could formulate a plan. He bolted out of the underpass, his
sneakers pounding the pavement with explosive force. As he ran, his legs subtly
mutated; his calf muscles bulged, the bone structure shifting internally,
elongating into the powerful, digitigrade legs of a Deinonychus—a raptor. His
speed doubled, then tripled. He became a blur of green motion, weaving through
the crowded sidewalks, leaving a trail of startled pedestrians in his wake.
He rounded the corner into the main shopping
district and slid to a halt. The air was thick with black smoke. A massive
crowd had gathered behind a hastily erected police barricade.
Izuku pushed his way through the onlookers,
his Alpha Aura passively parting the sea of people as they instinctively moved
out of his way. He reached the front and took in the scene.
It was an inferno. Several storefronts were
ablaze, the flames licking hungrily at the sky. In the center of the
destruction, in an alleyway choked with fire, was a towering mass of putrid,
dark green sludge. The villain was massive, its fluid body shifting and
bubbling, entirely immune to the physical debris crashing around it.
And trapped within the center of the sludge,
struggling frantically, was Katsuki Bakugo. The blonde boy was suffocating, his
eyes wide with a mixture of rage and genuine terror. He was firing off
explosions in a desperate panic, but it was only feeding the fires and doing
nothing to dislodge the liquid villain.
Izuku scanned the perimeter. The pro heroes
were there. Death Arms, Kamui Woods, Mt. Lady, and a few others.
"I can't get a grip on him!" Death
Arms shouted, punching his fists together in frustration. "He's completely
fluid!"
"My wood will just catch fire in this
heat!" Kamui Woods gritted his teeth. "I can't get close!"
"I need at least two lanes of clearance
for my Quirk!" Mt. Lady groaned. "I'm completely useless in this
narrow alley!"
Izuku felt a low, guttural growl vibrating in
his chest. Useless. The so-called heroes were just standing there, watching his
pack member slowly drown in mud. They were analyzing the situation, waiting for
a hero with a more suitable Quirk to arrive. They were thinking logically.
But Izuku wasn't thinking. He was reacting.
Bakugo's eyes met Izuku's through the smoke.
In that brief, agonizing second, Izuku didn't see the arrogant rival who
constantly challenged him. He saw the kid from the playground. He saw someone
asking for help.
Protect.
Izuku moved.
"Hey! Kid, get back here!" Death
Arms roared as Izuku slipped beneath the police tape and dashed straight into
the blazing alleyway.
The heat was blistering, but Izuku didn't feel
it. As he sprinted toward the towering villain, he tapped into the deepest
reserves of his Quirk. He didn't need a full transformation—that would be too
destructive, too large for the alleyway. He needed precision. He needed
lethality.
"Partial Manifestation," Izuku
breathed, his voice deepening into a resonant, monstrous rumble.
CRACK.
The sound of his bones shifting and expanding
echoed like gunfire over the roar of the flames. From his elbows to his fingertips,
his arms erupted into massive, heavily armored gauntlets of gray, bony plating.
Thick, defensive spikes jutted out from his forearms—the impenetrable armor of
an Ankylosaurus. His hands grew massive, his fingers fusing and shifting until
they tipped with six-inch, scythe-like, obsidian talons—the killing weapons of
a Velociraptor.
The Sludge Villain noticed the boy charging at
him. A massive, muddy eye swiveled down. "Another brat? You want to die
too?!" The villain lashed out, swinging a thick, tree-trunk-sized tendril
of solidifying sludge directly at Izuku's head.
"Kid, dodge!" a hero screamed from
the sidelines.
Izuku didn't dodge. He planted his feet,
brought his heavily armored left arm up, and braced for impact.
CLANG!
The sludge tendril hit Izuku's Ankylosaurus
armor with the force of a wrecking ball. The ground beneath Izuku's feet
shattered, creating a spiderweb of cracked asphalt, but the boy didn't budge an
inch. The armor easily absorbed the kinetic shock.
The villain's eyes widened. "What
the—?!"
Izuku dropped his guard and looked up, his
slitted, glowing green eyes locking onto the villain. He opened his mouth, and
a sound tore from his throat that silenced the roaring flames, silenced the
crowd, and silenced the heroes.
It was a full-throated, prehistoric roar. It
carried the psychic weight of the Alpha Aura at maximum output.
A concussive wave of sheer, terrifying
pressure washed over the alleyway. The Sludge Villain physically flinched, the
liquid making up his body violently shuddering as primal fear overwhelmed his
nervous system. For one crucial, paralyzing second, the villain's grip on
Bakugo loosened.
That was all Izuku needed.
With a burst of speed generated by his
still-mutated raptor legs, Izuku leapt into the air. He soared over the flames,
bringing his right arm back. His Velociraptor talons gleamed in the firelight.
"Let him GO!" Izuku roared.
He plunged his talons directly into the
thickest part of the sludge, aiming away from Bakugo but deep into the
villain's mass. The claws acted like hooks. With a massive, feral heave,
utilizing the incredible muscular density of his mutant arms, Izuku ripped his
arms outward.
The sludge tore like wet tissue paper.
Bakugo spilled out of the villain's viscous
grip, gasping for air and coughing up mud. Before he could hit the ground,
Izuku grabbed him by the collar of his uniform with his armored hand and
forcefully tossed him backward, sending Bakugo sliding safely out of the
immediate danger zone and toward the astonished pro heroes.
"You little bastard!" the Sludge
Villain shrieked, recovering from the psychic shock. Enraged at losing his
meat-shield, the villain condensed his fluid, forming hundreds of sharp,
whipping tendrils. "I'll turn you into paste!"
The tendrils descended on Izuku like a storm
of spears.
Izuku landed heavily on the asphalt. He didn't
have time to retreat. He crossed his massive, Ankylosaurus-armored arms over
his head and face, dropping to a knee and bracing himself.
The onslaught was brutal. The sludge tendrils
hammered against his armored scales with relentless fury. Bang! Bang! Bang! The
force was immense, slowly pushing Izuku backward, his sneakers carving trenches
into the road. His armor held, unyielding and unbreakable, but the sheer
kinetic force was bruising the human flesh beneath the transformation.
I can't hold out forever, Izuku gritted his
teeth, his arms trembling under the barrage. If I shift to a larger,
carnivorous form to bite him, I'll risk bringing the buildings down on Kacchan
and the heroes. I need an opening!
From the sidelines, Bakugo pushed himself onto
his hands and knees, staring at Izuku taking the brunt of the villain's attack.
"Deku... you idiot..." Bakugo coughed, his pride stinging even worse
than his throat.
Suddenly, the air pressure in the alleyway
changed entirely.
Izuku felt it before he saw it. A massive,
towering presence stepped past the police barricade. It wasn't an ancient,
primal presence like Izuku's. It was a presence of pure, unadulterated justice.
A beacon of radiant heat and absolute power.
"I am pathetic," a deep, booming
voice echoed over the sound of the flames.
The Sludge Villain froze, his tendrils halting
in mid-air. Izuku lowered his armored arms, his reptilian eyes widening in
shock.
Standing there, steam radiating from his
impossibly muscular physique, was the Symbol of Peace. All Might.
"I told you the traits that make a great
champion," All Might said, his face shadowed by a scowl of intense
self-reproach, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. He looked directly
at Izuku. "But I didn't live up to my own ideals! Pros are always risking
their lives!"
All Might moved faster than the eye could
track. In a single bound, he bypassed Izuku, closing the distance to the Sludge
Villain.
"Detroit..." All Might pulled his
right arm back. The air around his fist began to compress, violently spiraling
into a localized tornado. "...SMASH!"
He threw the punch.
He didn't even make physical contact with the
villain. The sheer, catastrophic wind pressure generated by the strike acted
like a solid wall of force. The Sludge Villain was instantly blown apart, scattered
into a million microscopic droplets against the walls of the alley. The
shockwave continued upward, blasting the roaring flames out like birthday
candles and violently dispersing the thick black smoke into the upper
atmosphere.
Izuku dug his talons into the asphalt to keep
himself from being blown away by the gale-force winds.
When the dust settled, silence reigned over
the shopping district. The fires were gone. The villain was defeated. And then,
as if the heavens themselves were responding to the sheer power of the punch,
the clouds gathered, and a gentle rain began to fall.
All Might had changed the weather.
The crowd erupted into deafening cheers. Izuku
slowly stood up, breathing heavily. The scales and armor on his arms hissed as
they dissolved, shrinking back into his skin, leaving his arms raw, red, and
exhausted. His raptor legs shifted back to normal, and he stumbled slightly,
the adrenaline crash hitting him hard.
He looked at All Might. The towering hero was
standing victorious, accepting the cheers of the crowd, but from the corner of
his eye, All Might was watching Izuku. There was a look in the Symbol of
Peace's eyes that Izuku couldn't quite decipher. It wasn't anger. It was
profound realization.
The aftermath was a chaotic blur of police
officers, paramedics, and pro heroes.
The Sludge Villain was carefully collected in
empty soda bottles and handed over to the authorities. Bakugo was surrounded by
the pro heroes, who were profusely praising his endurance and the power of his
explosions, noting how long he had managed to hold out against the villain.
Izuku, on the other hand, was currently
getting an earful.
"What were you thinking?!" Death
Arms scolded, looming over Izuku with a stern glare. "There was absolutely
no reason for you to put yourself in danger like that! Your Quirk is powerful,
kid, but you're untrained! You could have been killed, or worse, gotten in our
way!"
Kamui Woods nodded in agreement. "We had
the situation under control. We were just waiting for a hero with a suitable
Quirk to arrive. Vigilantism is strictly forbidden."
Izuku stood in silence, his head bowed. He
didn't argue. He knew they were right legally, but his heart—and his
instincts—refused to accept their logic. Under control? Kacchan was dying.
"Hey. Lizard."
Izuku looked up. Bakugo had shoved his way
past the pro heroes and was standing in front of him. The blonde boy looked
battered, his uniform singed and covered in dirt, but his crimson eyes burned
with a fierce, complicated intensity.
"Listen here, Deku," Bakugo growled,
his fists clenched at his sides. "I didn't ask for your help. I didn't
need your help. I had that sludge freak right where I wanted him. Don't you
dare think you saved me. Don't think for a second you're looking down on
me!"
Izuku met his gaze calmly. The primal instincts
were dormant now. He just saw his childhood rival. "I know, Kacchan,"
Izuku said softly. "But you looked like you were asking for help."
Bakugo's breath hitched. He bared his teeth,
looking as though he wanted to punch Izuku, or scream, or both. Instead, he
just spun on his heel and stomped away. "Just you wait! U.A. is mine, you
hear me?! You're just a stepping stone!"
Izuku watched him go, a small, weary smile
touching his lips. Some things never change.
After giving his statement to the police,
Izuku was finally allowed to leave. The sun had completely set, and the
streetlights cast long, yellow shadows over the quiet suburban streets as he
walked home. His body ached. The rapid shifting of bone density and muscle mass
took a heavy toll on his caloric reserves. He felt as though he could eat a
whole cow.
He looked at his hands, clenching and
unclenching them.
I acted on instinct today. If I want to be a
hero, a real hero, I need to control the beast. I can't just be a monster that
tears things apart to protect its pack. I have to be a symbol. Like All Might.
"I AM HERE!"
Izuku jumped nearly out of his skin, whirling
around.
Sliding out from a side alley, moving with
speeds that defied physics, was All Might. The massive hero struck his
signature pose, hands on his hips, his booming laugh echoing down the empty
street. "HAHAHA! Young man, I have been searching for you!"
Izuku's jaw dropped. "All Might?! What
are you doing here? How did you get away from the reporters?!"
"Hah! Shaking off reporters is child's
play for the Symbol of Peace!" All Might boasted. But suddenly, the hero's
massive frame shuddered. He coughed violently, a spray of blood erupting from
his mouth.
"Ah!" Izuku panicked, taking a step
forward.
Before Izuku's bewildered eyes, the towering,
invincible figure of All Might rapidly deflated in a massive cloud of steam.
When the vapor cleared, the man standing there was unrecognizable. He was
gaunt, skeletal, his clothes hanging off his impossibly thin frame like drapes
on a coat rack. His eyes were deeply sunken, shadowed, glowing with a dim,
haunting blue light.
Izuku staggered back, his Quirk instinctively
flaring, ready to defend against an imposter. "W-Who are you?! What
happened to All Might?!"
"I assure you, young man, I am All
Might," the skeletal man sighed, wiping a trail of blood from his chin. He
pulled up his oversized t-shirt, revealing a massive, horrific scar that
covered the entire left side of his chest—a twisted, purple crater of ruined
flesh. "Five years ago, I received this injury in a fight with a certain
villain. Half my respiratory system was destroyed. I've lost my stomach. My
time as a hero... my limit... is about three hours a day."
Izuku stared in horror. The invincible god of
heroes... was dying.
"I'm showing you this because I need you
to understand the weight of what I am about to say," All Might continued,
letting his shirt drop. He looked at Izuku, his sunken eyes piercing right
through the boy. "Today, in that alleyway, the pro heroes stood and
watched. Even I, the Symbol of Peace, stood by and watched, too afraid of my
own limits to act."
All Might took a step forward. "But you
didn't. You, with your incredible, terrifying power, threw yourself into the
fire to save a boy who hates you. You didn't do it for glory. You didn't do it
because the law told you to." All Might smiled, a genuine, warm expression
that transcended his skeletal face. "You acted because your soul—and your
instincts—demanded that you protect your own."
Izuku felt a lump form in his throat. The
reprimands of the other heroes had stung, but hearing this from All Might... it
shattered his emotional walls. Tears pricked at the corners of his eyes.
"Your Quirk, young man... it is primal.
It is violent," All Might said softly. "But the heart that wields it
is pure. You possess the spirit of a true king. A sovereign who bleeds for his
people."
All Might stood up straight, the wind rustling
his baggy clothes. "Izuku Midoriya. You are worthy to inherit my
power."
Izuku blinked, the tears momentarily stopping
in sheer confusion. "...Inherit? What do you mean, inherit your power?
Quirks are genetic. You can't just pass them on."
All Might chuckled. "True, for
ninety-nine percent of the world. But my Quirk is different. It is a sacred
torch, passed down through the generations, accumulating power with each
bearer." He held out his hand, his palm open. "The true name of my
power is... One For All."
One For All. The words rang in Izuku's ears
like a myth.
"I have been searching for a
successor," All Might continued, his voice taking on a heavy, reverent
tone. "Someone with the strength to bear the burden, and the heart to use
it righteously. Today, you proved that you have both. I want you to take my power,
young Midoriya. I want you to become the next Symbol of Peace."
Izuku's mind reeled. He looked at his own
hands—hands that could mutate into the lethal claws of ancient predators, hands
that commanded fear and submission. He had always wanted to be a hero, to protect
people. But he also knew the darkness that lurked in his DNA, the feral, bloody
instincts of the apex beasts that slept in his blood.
Could he handle it? Could a prehistoric beast
carry the torch of absolute justice?
He thought of Kacchan, drowning in the sludge.
He thought of the crying boy on the playground ten years ago.
Protect the pack.
If he had One For All... he would never be too
weak to protect them again. With All Might's power running through his mutated
veins, he wouldn't just be an apex predator. He would be an unstoppable force
of nature.
Izuku looked up at All Might. The tears were
gone, replaced by a fierce, burning resolve. His emerald eyes flashed, the
pupils briefly slitting into reptilian vertical lines before settling back into
a human shape.
"I accept," Izuku said, his voice
deep and unwavering. "I will take your power, All Might."
All Might smiled broadly, the skeletal visage
suddenly looking incredibly heroic. "Excellent! No hesitation! A true
king's response!" He threw his head back and laughed. "But do not
think this will be easy, young Midoriya! Your body is already strong from
managing your mutant genes, but combining your primal physiology with the
sheer, catastrophic force of One For All will require intense training! If you
cannot control the beast within, my power will tear you apart!"
All Might pointed a bony finger at Izuku.
"Starting tomorrow, I am going to put you through hell! We have ten months
until the U.A. entrance exam. We are going to forge your body, your mind, and
your instincts into the ultimate weapon of justice!"
"Yes, sir!" Izuku bowed deeply.
As Izuku walked the rest of the way home, the
night air felt different. It felt charged, electric with possibility. He could
hear the distant sounds of the city, the hum of cars, the rustle of the wind
through the trees. But beneath it all, deep within the ancient, genetic memory
of his blood, he heard something else.
The spirits of the prehistoric kings—the
towering Tyrannosaurus, the armored Ankylosaurus, the lethal Raptor—were
stirring. They could feel the approaching storm. They could feel the spark of
One For All igniting within their host.
Izuku Midoriya looked up at the stars. The
King of Dinosaurs was awake. And the world was about to hear him roar.
The stench of Dagobah Municipal Beach Park was
a legendary blight on the otherwise pristine coastline of Musutafu. For years,
the ocean currents had treated this stretch of sand as a dumping ground,
depositing a mountain range of rusted refrigerators, waterlogged tires,
decaying washing machines, and the skeletal remains of forgotten vehicles. The
air was thick with the scent of oxidized iron, rotting kelp, and stagnant
water. It was a monument to societal neglect.
To fourteen-year-old Izuku Midoriya, it was
the perfect hunting ground.
"The American Dream Plan!" All
Might’s booming voice echoed across the dunes, his skeletal form completely
overshadowed by the massive stack of papers he was holding. He enthusiastically
thrust a ten-month training regimen toward Izuku. "A meticulously
calculated roadmap to forge your body, your mind, and your prehistoric soul
into a vessel capable of holding One For All!"
Izuku stood amidst a canyon of garbage,
dressed in a worn-out tracksuit, his notebook open in his hands. He looked over
the incredibly detailed schedule. It charted everything from his caloric intake—which
was astronomically high to compensate for his Quirk’s biomass manipulation—to
specific hours dedicated to sleep and meditation.
"This is amazing, All Might," Izuku
muttered, his eyes darting rapidly across the page. "You’ve even factored
in the recovery time for my localized osteogenesis—the bone-growth phases of my
shifts. But... why a beach?"
All Might planted his hands on his hips.
"A hero is not just someone who fights villains, young Midoriya! A true
hero serves the community. This beach has been a stain on the city for a
decade. By the time the U.A. entrance exam arrives in ten months, you are going
to restore the horizon! You will clean this entire beach, using both your human
strength and the power of your Quirk!"
Izuku looked at the towering mountains of
scrap metal. A normal teenager would have despaired. But Izuku felt the ancient
blood in his veins thrum with anticipation. It was a challenge. And an apex
predator never backed down from a challenge.
"There is a crucial reason we are doing
this, Izuku," All Might continued, his tone shifting from boisterous to
profoundly serious. The skeletal hero stepped closer, his sunken blue eyes
locking onto Izuku’s. "Your Quirk, 'Jurassic Sovereign,' is already
incredibly powerful. You possess a baseline physical strength far exceeding a
normal human just by carrying those dormant mutant genes. But One For All is
different. It is the crystallized, stockpiled power of eight generations of
heroes. It is raw, unadulterated kinetic energy and sheer willpower."
All Might pointed a bony finger at Izuku's
chest. "When you trigger a transformation, your brain floods with the
instincts of the beast. Territoriality. Aggression. The drive to hunt and
dominate. If you introduce the infinite power of One For All into that state
without absolute mental discipline... the beast will take over."
A cold chill ran down Izuku's spine. "The
beast?"
"You could trigger an Apex Rampage,"
All Might warned gravely. "One For All acts as an amplifier. It won't just
amplify your physical dinosaur forms; it will amplify your primal instincts.
You could lose your human consciousness entirely, becoming an unstoppable
monster fueled by eight generations of power. We are not just training your
muscles here, young Midoriya. We are training your mind. You must learn to tame
the beast, and master the flame of One For All, weaving them together
perfectly."
Izuku slowly closed his notebook. He looked at
his hands. He could feel it—the low, simmering heat of a hundred ancient
carnivores sleeping in his DNA, waiting to be unleashed. He clenched his fists,
his eyes hardening with determination. "I understand. I won't lose
control. I'm going to be a hero who saves people with a smile, just like
you."
All Might smiled, a warm, proud expression.
"Then let us begin!"
The first three months were a grueling lesson
in stamina and biomass management.
Izuku’s Quirk allowed him to alter his
cellular structure, drawing on the genetic blueprints of prehistoric life.
However, creating mass required energy. To move a rusted pickup truck
half-buried in the sand, human strength wasn't enough, and a partial
raptor-shift lacked the sheer hauling power.
Izuku stood before the truck, taking a deep
breath. "Partial Manifestation: Apatosaurus Core."
The transformation was visceral. The sound of
wet, shifting flesh and cracking bone echoed across the beach. Izuku’s spine
elongated violently, tearing through the back of his specially modified
tracksuit. A massive, heavily muscled tail, covered in thick, elephantine
gray-green scales, erupted from his tailbone. The sheer weight of the appendage
forced Izuku to drop to his hands and knees, his leg muscles bulging as they
adapted to anchor the immense new center of gravity.
The tail was over fifteen feet long, as thick
as a redwood trunk at the base, tapering into a whip-like end.
With a guttural grunt, Izuku swung his hips.
The massive Apatosaurus tail swept across the sand like a wrecking ball,
slamming into the rusted pickup truck. CRUNCH! The metal groaned and buckled,
and the three-ton vehicle was effortlessly swept out of its sandy grave,
tumbling end-over-end until it crashed into a designated clearing pile.
"Excellent!" All Might cheered from
atop a nearby refrigerator, holding a stopwatch. "Your kinetic output is
phenomenal! But look at your breathing! You're burning through your glycogen
stores too fast!"
Izuku collapsed onto his stomach, the massive
tail dissolving into green mist and retreating back into his spine. He gasped
for air, his body trembling. Maintaining the localized mass of a giant sauropod
took a devastating toll on his human cardiovascular system. He reached into a
cooler beside him and practically inhaled three high-protein energy bars.
"The beast... is heavy," Izuku
panted, wiping sweat from his forehead.
"That is exactly why you must strengthen
your human vessel!" All Might coached. "The stronger your human heart
and lungs, the longer you can sustain the colossal forms! Again!"
Months four through seven shifted focus from
raw power to precision and aerial maneuverability.
There were certain items on the beach—like
waterlogged mattresses and jagged sheets of corrugated iron—that couldn't be
easily pushed or dragged. They had to be airlifted.
Standing on the edge of a trash-mountain,
Izuku closed his eyes. Focus. Hollow bones. Aerodynamic musculature.
"Partial Manifestation: Pteranodon."
From his shoulder blades, massive, leathery
wings burst forth, spanning an incredible twenty feet across. Unlike the heavy,
armored scales of his terrestrial forms, these wings were a mottled, dusty
brown, stretched taut over elongated, fossil-like finger bones.
Izuku leapt off the trash pile. The wind
caught his massive wings, and with a powerful, downward thrust, he took to the
sky. The aerodynamic lift was incredible, but the strain on his pectoral
muscles and upper back was excruciating. He swooped low over the beach, his
human arms reaching down to grab a cluster of heavy, chained tires.
He flapped violently, his teeth gritted as he
fought gravity. Don't give in to the strain. Control the wings. Become the sky.
He managed to haul the tires over to a waiting
dump truck All Might had rented, dropping them in with a loud clatter before
landing gracefully on the hood, his wings folding tightly against his back
before dissolving.
"Your control over your partial shifts is
becoming second nature," All Might praised, handing Izuku a water bottle.
"You no longer pause to initiate the mutation. It flows from you like
breathing."
"It's getting easier," Izuku
admitted, looking at his hands. "When I first started, the instincts would
fight me. The Pteranodon wanted to fly out to sea and hunt fish. The
Apatosaurus wanted to graze. I had to force them to do human tasks. But now...
it’s like we’re communicating. They know we’re training for something
bigger."
"The Alpha has established dominance over
his pack," All Might noted sagely. "But the true test remains. One
For All."
By the ninth month, the beach was nearly
unrecognizable. The towering mountains of trash had been reduced to a few
scattered piles. And Izuku Midoriya had completely transformed.
He was no longer just a boy with dormant
potential. At fifteen years old, Izuku’s physique was carved from marble. His
shoulders were broad, his arms corded with dense, incredibly tough muscle
fibers designed to withstand the rapid expansion and contraction of his Quirk.
His green eyes held a constant, sharp intensity, a predator's focus that never
truly slept.
On the dawn of the entrance exam, exactly ten
months after their training began, All Might arrived at Dagobah Beach in his
muscle form, expecting to help Izuku finish the last pile.
He stopped in his tracks, his jaw dropping.
The beach was pristine. The golden sand
stretched out endlessly, kissed by the gentle, rolling waves of the morning
tide. The horizon, long obscured by rusted metal, was wide open, painting the
sky in breathtaking hues of pink and orange.
Standing at the edge of the water, facing the
rising sun, was Izuku. He was shirtless, his body glistening with sweat in the
cool morning air.
He didn't cheer. He didn't jump for joy.
Instead, Izuku threw his head back, his chest expanding massively.
ROOOOOAAAAAARRRRR!
It was a sound that shook the very atmosphere,
a thunderous, triumphant roar of an apex predator claiming its territory. The
sound carried out over the ocean, rippling the water's surface. It was a roar
of absolute victory.
All Might felt a shiver run down his spine,
not of fear, but of profound awe. He walked forward, his heavy footsteps
crunching in the clean sand. "You finished it. Every last piece."
Izuku turned around, panting softly, a massive
grin breaking across his face. The intimidating aura vanished, replaced by the
bright, pure smile of a hero. "I did it, All Might! I cleared the
beach!"
"You didn't just clear it, young
Midoriya," All Might said, his voice thick with emotion. "You
conquered it. You have prepared the vessel. Your body and your spirit are
ready."
All Might reached up and plucked a single
strand of brilliant blonde hair from his head. He held it out between his
fingers, the morning sun catching it like a thread of gold.
"This is it, Izuku Midoriya. The
culmination of your blood, sweat, and scales. It is time to inherit my
power."
Izuku’s breath hitched. He stared at the hair,
the weight of a century of heroes pressing down on his shoulders. He reached
out, his hand trembling slightly, not from fear, but from the sheer gravity of
the moment.
"Now," All Might said, his
expression completely deadpan. "Eat this."
Izuku blinked, the dramatic tension shattering
like glass. "…Huh?"
"Eat it!" All Might insisted,
thrusting the hair toward Izuku’s face. "To inherit the Quirk, you must
ingest some of my DNA! It doesn't matter what it is, but a hair is the most
sanitary option. Hurry up, we don't have time! The exam starts in three hours
and it takes a couple of hours to digest and integrate into your nervous
system!"
Izuku groaned, taking the hair and examining
it with a look of profound disgust. "This is... not how I pictured this
moment."
With a deep breath, he tossed the hair into
his mouth and swallowed hard, suppressing a gag. He stood there for a moment,
waiting for the heavens to open, for lightning to strike, or for his muscles to
explode with infinite power.
Nothing happened.
"It takes time to process," All
Might laughed, returning to his skeletal form with a burst of steam. "Go
home, take a shower, and get to U.A.! Today, you show the world the birth of
the Dinosaur King!"
U.A. High School was a fortress of glass and
steel, an architectural marvel shaped like an immense 'H'. The pathway leading
to the main gates was swarming with thousands of hopeful students, all buzzing
with nervous energy.
Izuku walked through the towering archway, his
hands shoved deep into the pockets of his middle school uniform. He kept his
head down, actively suppressing his "Alpha Aura." If he let it flare,
he would paralyze half the courtyard. Still, even suppressed, he moved with a
quiet, undeniable presence. The crowd subconsciously parted for him, a ripple
of instinctual avoidance allowing him to walk completely unimpeded.
"Out of my way, extras!"
A familiar, explosive voice shattered the
morning calm. Izuku glanced over his shoulder. Katsuki Bakugo was stomping up
the path, his face twisted into a permanent scowl. The blonde boy saw Izuku and
paused, his crimson eyes narrowing.
Over the last ten months, Bakugo had noticed
the change in Izuku. The 'Lizard' hadn't just gotten bigger; his entire
demeanor had shifted. The quiet confidence was maddening to Bakugo.
"Don't think you can stand in my way
today, Deku," Bakugo snarled, walking past him and deliberately bumping
his shoulder against Izuku’s.
Izuku didn't even budge. It was like Bakugo
had walked into a solid brick wall.
"Good luck to you too, Kacchan,"
Izuku replied evenly, continuing his walk.
As Izuku looked up at the towering U.A.
building, a sudden wave of nausea hit him. His stomach churned violently, a
strange, crackling heat blooming in his chest. The hair. It’s digesting. The
power... it's waking up.
Distracted by the sudden internal heat,
Izuku’s foot caught the edge of a raised paving stone. His balance, usually
perfect, failed him. He pitched forward, bracing for the inevitable faceplant
onto the concrete.
Suddenly, the gravity around him vanished.
Izuku floated entirely weightless, suspended
inches above the ground. He flailed his arms slightly, utterly bewildered,
before a gentle pair of hands grabbed his shoulders and righted him.
"Are you okay?" a cheerful, bright
voice asked.
Izuku’s feet touched the ground. He turned
around to see a girl with short, bobbed brown hair and large, warm hazel eyes.
She was smiling brightly, her fingertips pressed together.
"Sorry for using my Quirk on you without
asking," she laughed, a slight blush dusting her cheeks. "But it
would be bad luck if you fell right before the exam, right?"
Izuku stared at her. His internal predator
instincts—the ones constantly analyzing threats and weaknesses—were completely
silent. She didn't trigger his territorial aggression, nor did she seem
affected by the lingering traces of his terrifying aura. She just looked at him
with pure, unadulterated kindness.
"I... uh..." Izuku, for all his
physical prowess and ancient power, was still a fifteen-year-old boy who rarely
spoke to girls. A furious blush erupted across his face. "Y-Yeah! I mean,
no! It's okay! Thank you! I mean, good luck to you!" he stammered, bowing
awkwardly.
The girl giggled. "I'm Ochaco Uraraka!
Let's both do our best!" With a wave, she jogged off toward the
auditorium.
Izuku stood frozen, his heart doing a
completely different kind of hammering than his usual primal drumbeat. I talked
to a girl! Well, she talked to me, but it counts!
The orientation auditorium was vast and dimly
lit, packed with hundreds of students. At the front, the Voice Hero: Present
Mic stood at a DJ booth, explaining the rules of the practical exam with
explosive enthusiasm.
"The rules are simple, listeners! You'll
be dropped into a replica cityscape! There are three types of faux villains out
there, worth one, two, and three points respectively! Use your Quirks, tear
them apart, and rack up the high score! But beware... there's a fourth type of
villain. The Zero Pointer! An obstacle designed to rampage! If you see it,
don't fight it! Run away!"
Izuku sat beside Bakugo, furiously taking
notes in his worn journal. Three point variants. Different treads and armaments
likely. The Zero Pointer is an obstacle, meaning engaging it yields no benefit.
The objective is efficiency and speed. I need to cover ground quickly.
Suddenly, a tall boy with glasses and rigid
posture stood up, pointing aggressively at Izuku. "You! The one with the unruly
hair! You've been muttering this entire time! It's distracting! If you're not
taking this seriously, leave U.A. at once!"
The auditorium went silent. Several students
snickered.
Izuku looked up from his notebook. He didn't
apologize. He didn't cower. Instead, his green eyes locked onto the
bespectacled boy. Slowly, deliberately, Izuku let a fraction of his Alpha Aura
slip out.
The air pressure in the immediate vicinity
dropped. A cold, ancient chill swept over the rows of seats.
The tall boy froze mid-point. His breath
hitched, a sudden, inexplicable sweat breaking out on his forehead. Every
instinct in his body screamed at him that he had just challenged a sleeping
dragon. He slowly, rigidly sat back down, swallowing hard, entirely incapable
of speaking another word.
Bakugo, sitting next to Izuku, scoffed
quietly. "Show-off."
"Just establishing the pecking order,
Kacchan," Izuku whispered back, closing his notebook.
Battle Center B was a sprawling,
hyper-realistic replica of a modern city district. Massive gates held back a
horde of anxious examinees. Among them, Uraraka was taking deep breaths, and
the tall boy with glasses was doing rigid stretching exercises.
Izuku stood at the very front of the pack, his
eyes locked on the towering metal doors. He took a deep breath, feeling the
crackling, electric heat of One For All churning in the pit of his stomach. It
felt like a miniature sun, wildly spinning, begging to be unleashed.
Not yet, Izuku thought, placing a mental lock
on the foreign power. All Might said I need absolute control. I haven't tested
OFA with my shifts yet. I'll stick to what I know for the points.
"Right, let's start!" Present Mic's
voice blasted from hidden speakers. "There are no countdowns in real battles!
Run, run, run!"
Before the other students even registered the
command, Izuku moved.
He didn't just run; he exploded forward. As he
sprinted through the opening gates, his Quirk activated. It wasn't a physical
shift. It was the Emitter aspect of "Jurassic Sovereign."
"Hunt." Izuku commanded softly.
The air around him suddenly rippled with
neon-green light. From the ether, spectral, fossilized bones began to
materialize, snapping together with the sound of grinding stone. Skulls, ribs,
and wicked, sickle-shaped toe claws formed out of translucent, glowing energy.
In a matter of seconds, Izuku was flanked by a
pack of six spectral Velociraptors. They were the size of large wolves,
entirely made of glowing green bones and ethereal, ghostly muscle. They hissed,
a terrifying, raspy sound that echoed off the fake city walls, their hollow eye
sockets burning with ancient malice.
"Split," Izuku ordered, his mind
linking seamlessly with the hive-mind of the pack.
The spectral raptors shrieked and scattered,
darting down alleys and scaling buildings with terrifying agility.
Izuku took the main street. Almost
immediately, three 1-Pointer robots rolled out from a side street, their red
optic sensors locking onto him. "Target acquired!" they beeped in
unison.
Izuku didn't break his stride. He lunged
forward. "Partial Shift: Therizinosaurus."
His forearms bulged, snapping into thick,
reptilian scales, while his fingers extended into three-foot-long, impossibly
sharp bone-scythes. He ducked beneath a barrage of rubber bullets from the
first robot, sweeping his scythe-claws upward. The hardened steel of the robot
tore like wet paper, the machine cleanly bisected from crotch to cranium.
He spun, his leg morphing into the heavy,
clubbed tail of an Ankylosaurus. He delivered a brutal roundhouse kick to the
second robot, the bony club shattering the machine's chassis and sending it
crashing into a building.
Meanwhile, high above, a 3-Pointer was
preparing to fire a missile from a rooftop. Suddenly, two spectral raptors
materialized from the shadows. They didn't have physical mass, but their
ethereal jaws possessed terrifying kinetic force. They latched onto the robot's
cannons, their glowing green jaws biting straight through the metal wiring,
short-circuiting the machine before tearing its head off.
"Three points, six points, nine
points..." Izuku muttered, his mind perfectly processing the sensory input
from his hunting pack.
Back at the gates, the other students finally
poured into the city. They stopped dead in their tracks, staring in utter
disbelief. The street was already a graveyard of sparking, demolished robots.
"What... what is that guy?!" a
student gasped, watching Izuku sprint up the side of a building, completely
shifted into a raptor-like bipedal form, tearing a 2-Pointer to shreds before
leaping to the next rooftop.
"He's a monster!"
High above the fake city, in a darkened
observation room, the faculty of U.A. watched the monitors in stunned silence.
"We have quite a crop this year," a
small, white animal in a suit—Principal Nezu—said, taking a sip of tea.
"But Examinee 7111 is certainly drawing the eye."
"Izuku Midoriya," a tired-looking
man wrapped in bandages, Shota Aizawa, muttered, staring at the screen.
"Quirk: Jurassic Sovereign. Mutant/Emitter hybrid. His file says he can
fully transform, but he's only using partial, localized shifts to maximize
speed while minimizing collateral damage. His situational awareness is
terrifying. He's using those energy-constructs to scout blind spots and
eliminate isolated targets. It's not just raw power; it's absolute tactical
dominance."
All Might stood in the back of the room in his
muscle form, his chest swelling with pride. Look at you, young Midoriya. You
are an army of one.
"He's racked up sixty-five points in four
minutes," the heroine Midnight purred, licking her lips. "Such a wild,
ferocious fighting style. It sends shivers down my spine."
"He's a predator in an environment of
prey," Nezu noted, setting his teacup down. "But a hero's true worth
isn't measured by how they hunt. It's measured by how they react when the odds
are overwhelmingly against them."
Nezu pressed a large, red button on his
console. "Let's test their true mettle. Release the Zero Pointer."
Izuku was standing on top of a crushed
3-Pointer, his breathing steady, his scythe-claws retracting into normal human
hands. He had seventy-two points. It was more than enough to pass. He mentally
recalled his spectral raptors; they dissipated into green mist, the energy
returning to his body.
Suddenly, the ground beneath his feet
violently shuddered.
It wasn't a minor tremor. It was an
earthquake. The towering fake buildings at the end of the main street suddenly
exploded outward, glass and concrete raining down in a devastating shower.
From the dust cloud, a shadow emerged. It
blotted out the sun.
Izuku stared upward, his pupils constricting
into slits. The Zero Pointer wasn't just a robot; it was a mechanical titan. It
stood well over a hundred feet tall, a colossal, tread-driven behemoth of green
steel and red, glowing optics. It raised a fist the size of a small house and
slammed it into the street, completely obliterating a city block.
"Run! It's the Zero Pointer!"
The panicked screams of the examinees filled
the air. The confident heroes-in-training completely broke rank, turning and
fleeing in absolute terror. Even the tall boy with glasses was sprinting away,
his face pale.
Izuku felt the primal urge to retreat. His
tactical mind told him there was no point in fighting it. It was too big, too
heavily armored. Running was the logical, evolutionary response to a superior
threat. He turned his back to the robot, preparing to shift his legs for a
rapid escape.
"Oww... my leg..."
The voice was faint, barely audible over the
grinding treads of the mechanical titan. But Izuku’s enhanced auditory senses
picked it up instantly.
He stopped. He turned his head.
Through the dust, pinned beneath a massive
slab of concrete from a destroyed building, was the girl from the entrance.
Uraraka. She was desperately trying to push the debris off her trapped leg,
looking up in sheer horror as the Zero Pointer slowly advanced toward her,
completely oblivious to the ant in its path.
Pack in danger.
The primal instinct flared, overriding
everything else. But this time, it wasn't just the beast. It was the heart of a
hero.
Izuku didn't run away. He turned around and
planted his feet, facing the colossal machine.
He closed his eyes. He reached deep within
himself, past the DNA of the raptors, past the heavy bones of the sauropods,
down to the absolute bottom of his soul, where the spark of One For All was
waiting.
All Might said to be careful. To control the
beast. But right now... to save her... I need the monster.
"One For All," Izuku whispered.
He ripped the mental lock away.
The reaction was instantaneous and
apocalyptic. A shockwave of pure, immense power blasted outward from Izuku’s
body, shattering the windows of the remaining buildings. Brilliant, crackling
arcs of emerald-green lightning erupted around him, whipping the air into a
frenzy. The heat was unbearable, a blinding, stockpiled sun detonating within his
mortal frame.
But Izuku didn't just channel the power into
his human body. He fed it directly into his Quirk.
GIVE ME MASS! GIVE ME POWER!
"FULL MANIFESTATION!" Izuku roared,
his voice distorting into a demonic, earth-shattering bellow. "TYRANNOSAURUS
REX!"
The mutation was violent and immediate.
Izuku’s human body exploded in a surge of expanding biomass, fueled by the
infinite kinetic energy of One For All. Dark green, armor-plated scales erupted
over his skin. His skull elongated, his jaw unhinging and expanding, filling
with rows of serrated teeth the size of greatswords. His spine arched, bursting
with thick, corded muscle as a massive tail whipped out behind him.
He grew. Ten feet. Twenty feet. Forty feet
tall.
He didn't just become a T-Rex. He became a
Kaiju. His dinosaur form was supercharged, glowing with pulsing veins of One
For All's green energy. Emerald lightning constantly arced across his scales,
and thick, scorching steam poured from his gaping jaws with every exhalation.
In the observation room, Aizawa dropped his
clipboard. Midnight gasped, covering her mouth. All Might gripped the railing,
his knuckles white.
"My god..." Nezu whispered.
Down in the city, the fleeing students
stopped, turning around in horror and awe as a second titan rose to meet the
first.
The Zero Pointer’s optics locked onto the
glowing, forty-foot dinosaur blocking its path. "Obstacle detected.
Eradicating." The giant robot raised its massive fist and brought it down
in a devastating punch aimed right at Izuku’s skull.
Izuku didn't flinch. His eyes, burning like
miniature green suns, tracked the fist.
With speed that a creature of his size had
absolutely no right to possess—the speed of One For All—Izuku lunged forward. He
opened his massive jaws and snapped them shut directly over the Zero Pointer’s
descending fist.
CRUNCH!
The sound of the robot's heavily armored fist
being crushed between Izuku's jaws echoed across the entire facility. The Zero
Pointer's arm violently sparked, gears grinding to a halt as millions of pounds
of bite force, amplified by eight generations of raw power, effortlessly
crumpled the steel.
The robot tried to pull back, but Izuku
planted his massive, clawed feet into the asphalt, ripping deep trenches into
the street.
Protect her! Destroy the threat!
Izuku released the fist, stepping into the
robot's guard. He twisted his massive torso, channeling 100% of the One For All
energy coursing through his body directly into his tail. The appendage glowed
so brightly it looked like a solid beam of green light.
With a roar that shattered the remaining
intact glass in a two-mile radius, Izuku delivered a catastrophic tail whip
directly to the Zero Pointer’s midsection.
"JURASSIC... SMASH!"
The impact was like a nuclear detonation. A
massive shockwave of displaced air blasted outward, flattening streetlamps and
blowing away the dust cloud. The kinetic force of the blow hit the robot's
chassis with such devastating power that the entire lower half of the Zero
Pointer instantly caved in.
The machine was literally lifted off its
treads, its torso bent backward at a grotesque, ninety-degree angle.
But Izuku wasn't done. The predator instinct
demanded absolute termination.
Using the momentum of the tail whip, Izuku
spun back around, his powerful legs launching his forty-foot, multi-ton frame
into the air. He soared up to the Zero Pointer’s head level. He opened his jaws
wide, the green lightning coalescing in his throat like a dragon about to breathe
fire.
He clamped his jaws entirely around the
robot’s head.
With a brutal, violent wrench of his neck
muscles, Izuku ripped the Zero Pointer's head clean off its shoulders in a
shower of sparks, hydraulic fluid, and torn wiring.
The headless, mangled titan stood frozen for a
split second before gravity took over. It crashed backward, hitting the street
with a seismic boom, utterly and completely destroyed.
Izuku landed heavily on top of the robot's
chest cavity. He tossed the severed mechanical head to the side, letting it
roll down the street. He raised his massive, blood-curdling snout to the sky,
green lightning still crackling wildly around him.
He let out a final, deafening roar, a sound
that etched itself into the memories of every single person who heard it. The
undisputed king had arrived.
"T-TIME'S UP!" Present Mic's voice
crackled over the intercom, sounding visibly shaken.
Izuku’s roar cut off.
Suddenly, the green lightning vanished. The
sheer, unfathomable recoil of channeling 100% of One For All through a rapidly
expanded, mutated cellular structure hit him all at once. Every single muscle
fiber in his body screamed in agony.
The massive T-Rex form violently destabilized.
The flesh boiled into green mist, dissolving rapidly as Izuku shrank back down
to his human form.
He was in mid-air, having been standing on the
chest of the towering robot. Stripped of his beast form, his human body was
entirely broken. Both of his legs and his right arm were shattered, a gruesome
purple hue coloring the skin—the physical blowback of One For All.
He plummeted toward the earth, entirely
unconscious.
I... I did it... I kept the beast in check...
Izuku thought, his mind fading to black as the wind rushed past his ears. I
saved her...
Before he could hit the concrete, a sharp slap
stung across his face.
Suddenly, his descent slowed. He drifted
gently toward the ground, weightless.
Uraraka, having managed to pull herself free
while the robot was distracted, stood on one leg, panting heavily, her hand
outstretched. She had managed to slap his cheek just in time. She gently guided
his floating, broken body down to the asphalt before pressing her fingers
together.
"Release," she whispered, collapsing
to her knees in exhaustion.
Izuku hit the ground softly, completely out
cold, but a faint, peaceful smile rested on his battered face.
The rest of the examinees slowly gathered
around, keeping a wide, fearful berth. They looked at the destroyed, towering
Zero Pointer, and then at the frail, broken boy lying in the street.
"He... he took that thing out with his
bare teeth..." one student whispered, entirely pale.
"He's insane."
"No," the tall boy with glasses
murmured, adjusting his spectacles, a look of profound respect washing over his
face as he looked at Izuku. "He saw what we didn't. He saw a fellow
student in danger, and he laid his life—and his humanity—on the line to save
her. He is more of a hero than any of us."
Through the crowd, an old, diminutive woman
with a syringe walking cane shuffled forward. Recovery Girl. She looked at
Izuku's utterly mangled limbs, sighing deeply.
"Just like that idiot Toshinori,"
she grumbled, leaning down and planting a kiss on Izuku's forehead.
"Reckless, destructive, and completely selfless."
Izuku’s broken bones slowly began to knit back
together, his breathing evening out as Recovery Girl's healing Quirk took
effect.
High above, in the observation room, the
faculty remained silent. All Might placed a hand over his heart, a tear of pure
pride slipping down his cheek.
The exam was over. The scores would be
tallied. But there was no doubt in anyone's mind. U.A. High had just witnessed
the awakening of a legend. The beast had been unleashed, the flame had been
ignited, and the King of Dinosaurs was coming to claim his throne.
The acceptance letter had come in a
holographic projection, delivered by the Symbol of Peace himself.
Sitting at his desk in his bedroom, Izuku
Midoriya had watched the projection of All Might with a heart that hammered a
rhythmic, heavy beat against his ribs. The score had been unprecedented.
Sixty-five villain points, and a staggering sixty rescue points for
obliterating the Zero Pointer to save Ochaco Uraraka. A grand total of one
hundred and twenty-five points. It was the highest entrance exam score in the
history of U.A. High School, shattering the previous record held by All Might.
But Izuku hadn't felt like a record-breaker
during the weeks leading up to his first day. He had felt like a scientist
trying to defuse a live bomb inside his own chest.
The integration of One For All into his
biology had changed him fundamentally. Before, his Quirk, Jurassic Sovereign,
had been a localized ecosystem of dormant prehistoric DNA that he could awaken
at will. Now, that ecosystem had been flooded with the infinite, crackling
energy of a raging sun. The sheer kinetic backlash of using 100% of that power
against the Zero Pointer had nearly crippled him, shattering his human limbs
despite the massive, Kaiju-sized T-Rex frame he had manifested.
He had spent the remainder of his spring break
training intensely in the remote woods of Musutafu, far away from civilians. He
couldn't afford to be a glass cannon. He was an apex predator; breaking his own
bones to secure a kill was an evolutionary failure.
Through relentless, painful trial and error,
Izuku had made a breakthrough. He discovered that if he visualized One For All
not as an explosion, but as a steady, flowing river of heat—distributing the
power evenly throughout his entire nervous system—he could cap the energy
output. He called it Full Cowl. By maintaining the output at exactly five
percent, his naturally dense, mutant-gene-enhanced human musculature could
withstand the strain without tearing. Furthermore, if he combined that five
percent with his partial dinosaur shifts, the amplified physical density of his
prehistoric scales and bones allowed him to handle the kinetic recoil
seamlessly.
He had tamed the flame. Now, it was time to
bring the beast to school.
The morning of his first day at U.A. High was
crisp and clear. Izuku stood before the massive, towering archway of the
school, dressed in his pristine gray and green uniform. His red sneakers tapped
against the concrete as he adjusted his heavy backpack.
"Izuku!"
He turned around. His mother, Inko Midoriya,
was standing a few paces behind him, dabbing at her eyes with a handkerchief.
"You look so handsome, sweetie. I'm just... so proud of you."
Izuku’s intense, predatory gaze softened
instantly. The fierce alpha aura that naturally clung to him dissipated,
replaced by the gentle warmth of a son who loved his mother deeply. He walked
back and wrapped his arms around her, hugging her tightly. "Thanks, Mom.
I'll make you proud. I promise."
"I know you will," Inko sniffled,
patting his cheek. "Now go. Don't be late!"
With a final wave, Izuku turned and walked
through the gates. As he crossed the threshold, his posture subtly shifted. His
shoulders broadened. His spine straightened perfectly. He took a deep, slow
breath, tasting the air. The scent of hundreds of different teenagers, varying
Quirks, and the ozone hum of the school's security systems flooded his enhanced
olfactory senses.
He was entering a new territory. A new
ecosystem.
He navigated the sprawling, labyrinthine
corridors of U.A., following the signs until he found a door so comically large
it looked like it belonged on a bank vault. Painted in bold red letters across
the front was 1-A.
From the other side of the door, Izuku could
already hear shouting.
"Take your feet off of that desk this
instant! It is highly disrespectful to our upperclassmen and the craftsmen who
made it!"
"Hah?! What did you just say to me,
Four-Eyes? What middle school are you from, you extra?!"
Izuku recognized the voices immediately. Tenya
Iida, the tall boy with glasses from the entrance exam, and Katsuki Bakugo.
Izuku sighed softly. Some things truly never changed.
He reached out and placed his hand on the
massive door handle. He didn't just open it; he slid it back with a firm, fluid
motion.
Clack.
The heavy door slid open. Izuku stepped into
the doorway.
The effect was instantaneous and absolute.
Izuku didn't say a word. He didn't flex his
muscles or bare his teeth. He merely let his passive Alpha Aura roll into the
room like a heavy, invisible fog. It was a psychic wavelength of pure,
instinctual dominance.
The shouting abruptly died. Iida, who had been
aggressively chopping the air with his hand, froze mid-chop. Bakugo, who had
been leaning back in his chair with his feet on the desk, suddenly stiffened,
his feet dropping to the floor with a dull thud.
The other students in the room—a boy with
half-white, half-red hair, a girl with pink skin and horns, a boy with a
bird-like head—all stopped their conversations. Every single eye in the
classroom snapped toward the doorway.
The silence was suffocating. It was the tense,
heavy quiet of a jungle when a predator enters the clearing. The air pressure
felt noticeably lower. A few students subconsciously shifted in their seats,
their bodies urged by millions of years of evolution to submit or freeze.
Izuku stepped fully into the room, his
brilliant green eyes sweeping over his new classmates. The pupils briefly
constricted into vertical slits, taking in the micro-expressions, the scents,
the heart rates of everyone present, before dilating back to normal.
Twenty students. High Quirk viability. Good.
Iida was the first to break the silence. The
tall boy swallowed hard, pushing past his instinctual apprehension, and marched
toward Izuku with rigid, mechanical steps.
"You!" Iida announced, stopping a
respectable distance away. He bowed perfectly at a ninety-degree angle. "I
am Tenya Iida from Soumei Junior High! I must apologize to you! During the
entrance exam orientation, I completely misjudged your character. You realized
there was a practical application to the exam—the rescue points—while I was
blindly following the rules. You are not only immensely powerful, but you
possess the true heart of a hero. I submit that you are the superior
student!"
Izuku blinked, slightly taken aback by the
sheer intensity of the apology. He raised a hand, rubbing the back of his neck,
the heavy alpha aura lightening to a warm, protective presence. "It's
okay, Iida-kun. I didn't know about the rescue points either, to be honest. I
just saw someone in danger and moved. I'm Izuku Midoriya. It's nice to meet you
properly."
"Deku."
The low, dangerous growl came from the back of
the room. Katsuki Bakugo was staring holes into Izuku. The blonde boy's hands
were twitching, small sparks popping against his palms. Bakugo's pride was a
fragile, volatile thing, and the fact that his body had instinctually reacted
to Izuku's entrance infuriated him beyond measure.
"Kacchan," Izuku acknowledged,
nodding respectfully but not yielding an inch of ground.
"Don't look at me like that, you
overgrown lizard," Bakugo snarled, though he didn't stand up. "You
think you're top shit because of that stunt with the Zero Pointer? This is U.A.
That raw power crap won't carry you forever."
"I know," Izuku replied evenly, his
voice a calm, deep rumble that carried across the quiet room. "That's why
we're here to learn."
Before Bakugo could snap back, a cheerful
voice broke the tension from the hallway behind Izuku.
"Oh! It's you! The dinosaur boy!"
Izuku turned to see Ochaco Uraraka beaming at
him. She stepped into the classroom, completely unaffected by the lingering
heavy atmosphere. "I'm so glad you made it! Your punch against that giant
robot was incredible! The way your jaws just CRUNCHED that metal... it was so
scary but so cool!" She mimed a biting motion with her hands, giggling.
Izuku felt the heat rush to his cheeks again.
The apex predator suddenly felt very much like a flustered fifteen-year-old.
"A-Ah, thank you, Uraraka-san! I'm glad you're okay. Your Quirk was
amazing too!"
"If you're just here to make friends, you
can pack up your things and leave."
The voice didn't come from a student. It came
from the floor.
Izuku’s head snapped down. His primal
instincts flared violently. He hadn't heard anyone approach. He hadn't smelled
anyone. To bypass an apex predator's sensory net was near impossible.
Lying on the floor in a bright yellow sleeping
bag was a haggard-looking man with long, unkempt black hair and a scarf wrapped
around his neck. He looked like a giant caterpillar.
The man unzipped the sleeping bag and stood
up, pulling a juice pouch from his pocket and taking a slow sip. He looked over
the class with half-lidded, utterly exhausted eyes. But when his gaze landed on
Izuku, the exhaustion vanished for a fraction of a second, replaced by a
razor-sharp, calculating intensity.
Predator, Izuku's instincts whispered. Not a
brawler. A silent, stealth-based killer. A venomous snake hiding in the grass.
"It took you lot eight seconds to quiet
down," the man sighed, stepping out of the sleeping bag. "Time is
limited. You kids are not rational enough."
He walked to the front podium, his posture
slouching. "I'm Shota Aizawa. I'll be your homeroom teacher."
The class collectively gasped. Homeroom
teacher?! He looks like a homeless man!
Aizawa reached into his sleeping bag and
pulled out a stack of blue and white gym uniforms. "Right. Let's get
straight to it. Put these on and head out to the P.E. grounds."
The locker room was filled with the chatter of
boys introducing themselves, but as Izuku took off his shirt to change into the
P.E. uniform, the conversation died out once more.
"Whoa, Midoriya," a boy with red,
spiky hair named Eijiro Kirishima said, his jaw dropping. "You are built
like a brick house, man! Look at those scars!"
Izuku looked down at his own torso. His
physique was incredibly dense, his muscles corded and defined like a gymnast's,
but carrying significantly more mass. Running up his right arm and across his
chest were jagged, lightning-shaped, silvery scars—the physical remnants of
channeling 100% of One For All during the entrance exam.
"Man, what kind of training did you
do?" asked a boy with blonde hair and a black lightning bolt streak, Denki
Kaminari.
"I... moved a lot of heavy trash,"
Izuku answered honestly, slipping the U.A. gym shirt over his head. It was
tight across his shoulders. He didn't mention the grueling process of
forcefully ripping his own cellular structure apart and putting it back
together every day to master his transformations.
When the class gathered on the dirt field
under the bright morning sun, Aizawa stood before them, a tablet in his hand.
"A Quirk Apprehension Test?!" the
class shouted in unison.
"What about the entrance ceremony? The
orientation?" Uraraka asked, looking concerned.
"If you're going to become a hero, you
don't have time for such leisurely events," Aizawa said dryly, turning his
back to them. "U.A.'s selling point is how unrestricted its school
traditions are. That's also how the teachers run their classes. You kids have
been doing these standard fitness tests since junior high, right? Physical
tests where you weren't allowed to use your Quirks. The country still uses
averages taken from results devoid of Quirks. It's not rational."
Aizawa turned his gaze to Bakugo.
"Bakugo, you finished first in the practical exam. In junior high, what
was your best result for the softball throw?"
Bakugo crossed his arms, smirking.
"Sixty-seven meters."
"Right. Try doing it with your
Quirk." Aizawa tossed a baseball to Bakugo and pointed to a white circle
painted on the dirt. "You can do whatever you want as long as you stay in
the circle. Hurry up. Give it all you've got."
Bakugo stepped into the circle, rolling his
shoulders. A vicious, feral grin spread across his face. I'll show them. I'll
show that damn Lizard exactly who holds the top spot.
He stretched his right arm back. Sparks began
to crackle violently in his palm, heating the air. He stepped forward, putting
his entire body weight into the throw.
"DIE!" Bakugo roared, detonating a
massive explosion directly behind the ball as it left his hand.
The blast wave washed over the class, kicking
up dust. The ball shot into the sky like a rocket, leaving a trail of black
smoke in its wake until it disappeared into the clouds.
Aizawa looked at his tablet. It beeped. He
turned the screen around to show the class. "Know your own maximum first.
That is the most rational way to form the foundation of a hero."
The screen read: 705.2m.
"Seven hundred and five meters?! Are you
kidding me?!" Kaminari yelled, clutching his head.
"We can use our Quirks as much as we
want! This looks like fun!" a girl with pink skin, Mina Ashido, cheered.
Aizawa's eyes narrowed. The tired, lazy
demeanor vanished, replaced by a dark, terrifying intensity. The air around him
seemed to chill.
"Fun? You have three years to become
heroes. Are you going to have an attitude like that the whole time?"
Aizawa smiled, a cruel, mirthless expression. "Alright. Whoever comes in
last place in all eight tests will be judged to have no potential and will be
punished with expulsion."
The entire class erupted in panic.
"Expulsion?! On the first day?!" Uraraka cried out. "That's not
fair!"
"Natural disasters, massive accidents,
and selfish villains. Calamities whose time or place cannot be predicted,"
Aizawa countered coldly. "Japan is covered with unfairness. Heroes are the
ones who reverse those situations. If you wanted to go talk with your friends
at Mickey D's after school, too bad. For the next three years, U.A. will
inflict hardship after hardship on you. Go Plus Ultra. Overcome it with all
you've got."
Izuku didn't panic. He didn't shout about
fairness. He stood completely still, his eyes locked onto Aizawa.
He means it, Izuku's instincts told him. In
the wild, the weak are culled. The slow are eaten. This isn't a school; it's a
proving ground. He's trying to weed out the prey.
Izuku's blood began to run hot. The rhythm of
his heartbeat slowed and intensified. Thump. Thump. Thump. He wasn't prey. He
was the king. And he was going to show this underground hero exactly why.
Test 1: 50-Meter Dash
The class lined up in pairs at the starting
line. Izuku watched carefully as Iida used his engine calves to blaze across
the track in 3.04 seconds. He watched a girl named Tsuyu Asui use her frog-like
anatomy to cross in 5.58 seconds.
He analyzed every movement, every
biomechanical advantage. He was compiling a massive mental database of his new
"pack."
"Midoriya and Bakugo. You're up."
Izuku stepped up to the starting line. Bakugo
stood next to him, his hands popping with tiny, impatient explosions.
"Don't hold back, Deku," Bakugo
hissed, his crimson eyes burning. "If you don't use that freakish power of
yours, I'll kill you."
Izuku didn't look at him. He stared down the
fifty-meter track. He could easily use Full Cowl, but 5% wouldn't outspeed an
explosion-propelled Bakugo over such a short distance. He needed raw,
anatomical mechanics.
"I'm not going to hold back,
Kacchan," Izuku murmured.
"Runners, on your marks..." the
robotic camera drone announced.
Izuku took a deep breath. He sent a mental
command to his lower body. Partial Manifestation: Gallimimus.
It was an entirely internal shift, devoid of
scales or claws, strictly altering muscle fiber and bone structure. Beneath the
fabric of his gym pants, Izuku's femurs elongated slightly, his calf muscles
bulging and hardening into the ultra-dense, fast-twitch muscle fibers of an
ostrich-like dinosaur built entirely for terminal velocity. The shift took less
than half a second.
"Get set..."
Izuku lowered into a sprinter's stance.
BANG.
The starting gun fired.
Bakugo launched himself forward, firing a
massive dual-explosion behind him, propelling his body through the air like a
human missile.
Izuku pushed off his back foot. The earth
beneath his sneaker literally cratered, dirt exploding outward from the sheer
kinetic force of his leg muscles. He didn't run; he bounded.
But midway through his first stride, a sudden,
bizarre sensation washed over him. The dense, powerful Gallimimus muscle fibers
in his legs instantly unraveled, snapping back to normal human biology in a
fraction of a second.
Izuku’s balance faltered. He was moving far
too fast for human legs to catch him. He pitched forward, about to eat dirt.
My Quirk? It deactivated?
In a split second, Izuku's combat instincts
took over. His Quirk was gone, but his base human body—forged by ten months of
hellish physical labor on Dagobah Beach and enhanced by the passive density of
carrying dormant mutant genes—was still a machine. He tucked his shoulder,
turning what would have been a disastrous fall into a rapid forward somersault.
He hit the ground, rolled cleanly, planted his human feet, and sprinted the
rest of the way, crossing the finish line in a dead sprint.
"4.13 seconds," the drone announced
for Bakugo.
"5.42 seconds," the drone announced
for Izuku.
Izuku slowed to a halt, breathing heavily. He
looked down at his legs. They were normal. He turned his head and looked back
at the starting line.
Aizawa was standing there. His long black
scarf was floating wildly around his neck, defying gravity. His hair was
standing on end, and his eyes were glowing a piercing, bloody red.
He erased it, Izuku realized, his eyes
widening. His Quirk allows him to nullify other Quirks just by looking at them.
Aizawa blinked. His hair fell flat, and his
eyes returned to their normal, exhausted black. The underground hero stared at
Izuku, a profound sense of shock hidden beneath his deadpan expression.
He adapted, Aizawa thought, his mind racing. I
erased his mutant shift mid-stride. A normal student heavily reliant on a
speed-enhancing Quirk would have collapsed and broken an ankle. But Midoriya
possesses a baseline physical strength and kinesthetic awareness that is
frankly absurd. 5.42 seconds without a Quirk? The kid is a physical powerhouse
even when his power is turned off. His instincts are terrifyingly honed.
Bakugo marched up to Izuku, grabbing him by
the collar of his gym shirt. "What the hell was that, Deku?! You stumbled!
You call that not holding back?!"
Izuku gently but firmly grasped Bakugo's
wrist. Without breaking eye contact, Izuku squeezed. The sheer, baseline human
grip strength Izuku possessed was enough to make Bakugo's bones creak. Bakugo
winced, forcefully pulling his hand away.
"I didn't stumble, Kacchan," Izuku
said quietly, glancing at Aizawa. "My Quirk was shut off."
Bakugo looked at the teacher, his eyes
narrowing as he realized what had happened. He scoffed, turning away.
Test 2: Grip Strength
The students were handed digital dynamometers.
Izuku stood in the back of the group. He
looked at the small machine. If he squeezed it normally, he would likely hit
around 90-100 kg, far above a normal teenager due to his training. But Aizawa
wanted maximums.
"Partial Manifestation," Izuku
whispered.
His right hand rippled. Thick, dark emerald
scales pushed through his skin. His fingers thickened, the knuckles turning
gray and rock-like as his hand transformed into the heavily armored, crushing
appendage of an Allosaurus.
He wrapped his clawed hand around the machine
and squeezed.
The metal groaned in protest. The digital
numbers flickered wildly before maxing out and turning to static. With a sharp
CRACK, the dynamometer completely shattered in his grip, the plastic casing
raining to the ground.
Beside him, a massive, multi-armed student
named Mezo Shoji looked over, holding his own dynamometer that read 540 kg.
Shoji looked at Izuku's shattered machine, then at his scaly, clawed hand, and
silently nodded in respect. Izuku nodded back.
Test 3: Standing Long Jump
Izuku didn't use speed this time. He used
pure, explosive leverage. He shifted his legs into the digitigrade,
heavy-tendon structure of a Utahraptor. He crouched low, his newly formed
raptor legs coiling like massive springs.
When he jumped, he didn't just clear the
sandbox. He soared entirely over it, landing gracefully on the grass a dozen
meters beyond the landing zone, leaving deep claw marks in the earth.
Aizawa watched it all, silently recording the
scores. He's not just using one dinosaur form, the teacher noted mentally. He's
dissecting his own DNA, isolating specific evolutionary traits—armor, speed,
leverage—and applying them flawlessly to the task at hand. His Quirk control is
masterful. But... there's something else. A tension in him. He's holding
something back.
Test 5: The Softball Throw
This was the deciding factor. The class had
gathered back around the painted white circle.
Izuku stood on the periphery, watching as
Uraraka stepped up. She touched the ball, removing its gravity, and threw it.
It sailed into the sky forever.
"Infinity?!" the class gasped as
Aizawa showed the screen.
"That's insane!" Kaminari cheered.
Izuku looked at his own hands. The minor tests
had been easy. He could rely on his prehistoric genetics to secure high scores
without straining his body. But the softball throw was different. It required
explosive kinetic output to match the likes of Bakugo's 700 meters or Uraraka's
infinity.
If he threw it as a human, he would get a
decent score. But that wasn't going Plus Ultra. That wasn't asserting his
dominance as the Alpha.
I need to use One For All, Izuku decided. I
need to test Full Cowl in a controlled environment. But a human arm throwing a
baseball with 5% of All Might's power might still tear ligaments if I lack the
proper throwing mechanics. I need a stronger vessel.
"Midoriya. You're up," Aizawa called
out, his tone flat.
Izuku walked into the circle. He took the
baseball from Aizawa's hand.
The class watched intently. They had seen his
speed and his grip strength, but they wanted to see the raw power that had
supposedly annihilated the Zero Pointer.
Aizawa narrowed his eyes, his finger hovering
over the rim of his goggles. Let's see what you really are, Midoriya. Are you
just a brawler with a flashy mutant Quirk, or do you have the rational control
to be a pro? If you break your arm here like a reckless child, I will expel
you.
Izuku stood in the center of the circle,
facing the open field. He closed his eyes.
First, the vessel.
He breathed in deeply, visualizing the apex
predator of the ancient rivers. A beast built to grapple with massive,
thrashing prey.
"Partial Manifestation:
Spinosaurus."
The shift was louder and more aggressive than
his previous ones. His right shoulder bulged violently, tearing the right
sleeve of his gym uniform to shreds. Thick, heavy, crocodile-like scutes
erupted along his collarbone and traveled down his arm. The limb expanded
massively, becoming twice the size of his normal arm, corded with impossibly
dense, heavy muscle. His hand morphed into three massive, heavily clawed
fingers, built for crushing and throwing immense weight.
The class collectively gasped, stepping back
as the sheer intimidating presence of the massive, monstrous arm flared.
Now... the flame.
Izuku gripped the baseball in his massive,
scaly claws. He reached into his core, finding that burning sun, and tapped it.
He didn't open the floodgates like he did at the entrance exam. He opened a
valve.
Five percent. Full Cowl.
With a sound like tearing ozone, vibrant,
crackling emerald lightning erupted across his body. The green electricity
danced wildly over the dark green scales of his Spinosaurus arm, illuminating
the field with an eerie, beautiful glow.
Bakugo's eyes widened, his jaw dropping
slightly. What the hell is that?! He didn't have that lightning before!
Aizawa's breath hitched. He didn't erase the
Quirk. He was entirely mesmerized by the sheer, condensed power radiating from
the boy. It wasn't reckless. It was perfectly, terrifyingly contained.
Izuku pulled his massive, lightning-wreathed
arm back. The heavy muscles coiled tight, the ancient Spinosaurus DNA perfectly
synergizing with the stockpiled kinetic energy of One For All.
He stepped forward, planting his left foot,
and whipped his arm forward with everything he had.
BOOOOOOM!
The air itself shattered. A visible, circular
shockwave—a sonic boom—exploded outward from Izuku's hand the moment he
released the ball. A localized gale-force wind swept over the class, blowing
hair back and forcing several students to shield their eyes from the flying
dust.
The baseball didn't arc. It vanished. It tore
through the sky like a bullet, leaving a visible tunnel of displaced air in its
wake.
Izuku stood perfectly still in the circle, his
massive arm outstretched. The green lightning slowly faded, fizzling out into
the atmosphere. The heavy, crocodile-like scales receded, the massive muscles
condensing and shifting back until his arm was completely human once more.
He flexed his human fingers. No pain. No
broken bones. The Spinosaurus mass had perfectly absorbed the kinetic recoil of
One For All.
The silence on the field was absolute.
Aizawa stared at his tablet. The screen was
blinking, trying to calculate the sheer distance. Finally, it chimed.
Aizawa slowly turned the screen around, his
face completely devoid of its usual lazy expression. He looked at Izuku with a
mixture of profound shock and deep, abiding respect.
The screen read: 1,214.3m.
"One... one thousand..." Kaminari
stammered, his brain short-circuiting.
"Over a kilometer?!" Ashido
shrieked.
"He beat Bakugo's score by almost
double..." Kirishima whispered, staring at Izuku as if he were a god.
Bakugo was frozen. His mind couldn't process
the number. He had trained his entire life, pushed his explosion Quirk to its
absolute limit, and this... this Deku had just casually thrown a ball out of
the physical zipcode without even breaking a sweat.
"Hey, Deku!" Bakugo suddenly
exploded, raw fury overriding his rational thought. He launched himself
forward, explosions popping in his palms. "Tell me what that power is!
What was that lightning?! Tell me right now, you bastard!"
Before Bakugo could take three steps, a thick,
gray cloth wrapped around his torso, binding his arms tight. He was yanked
backward, struggling fruitlessly against the capture weapon.
"What the... this cloth is stiff!"
Bakugo grunted.
"It's a carbon-fiber woven capture
weapon," Aizawa said coldly, his red eyes glaring at Bakugo, his hair
floating. "Stand down, Bakugo. Or I will expel you right here and
now."
Bakugo ceased struggling, gritting his teeth
in pure, unadulterated frustration. Aizawa blinked, his Quirk deactivating, and
the cloth unwrapped, retreating into his scarf.
Aizawa looked past Bakugo, his gaze locking
onto Izuku.
Izuku hadn't flinched when Bakugo charged. He
hadn't raised his hands to defend himself. He had merely stood there, his eyes
calm, radiating an absolute certainty that if Bakugo had reached him, the
blonde boy would have lost.
He's not arrogant, Aizawa realized, a rare,
microscopic smirk touching the corner of his lips. He's just utterly secure in
his place at the top. He's the apex. He possesses power that rivals All Might,
yet he has the cold, calculating restraint of an underground pro.
Aizawa pocketed his tablet. "Moving on.
Next test."
Izuku smiled lightly, giving a small,
reassuring nod to Uraraka, who was cheering for his score, before walking back
to join the group.
The sun was beginning to set over U.A. High,
casting a golden hue over the P.E. grounds. The final test had concluded, and
the class stood exhausted in front of Aizawa.
"I'll quickly project the results,"
Aizawa said, pressing a button on his tablet. A large hologram appeared in the
air. "The total is simply the marks you got from each test. It's a waste
of time to explain verbally, so just look for yourself."
Izuku scanned the list.
1. Izuku Midoriya
2. Shoto Todoroki
3. Katsuki Bakugo
4. Tenya Iida
5. Momo Yaoyorozu
Izuku felt a quiet sense of satisfaction. He
had proven his physical dominance across the board. He glanced down to the
bottom of the list. Twentieth place was a boy with purple hair consisting of
sticky balls named Minoru Mineta. The boy was currently weeping uncontrollably
on the ground, accepting his doom.
"By the way, I was lying about the
expulsion," Aizawa said, his voice entirely flat.
The entire class froze.
Aizawa smiled, a terrifyingly large, unnerving
grin. "It was a rational deception to draw out the upper limits of your
Quirks."
"WHAAAAAT?!" the class screamed in
unison.
"Of course it was a lie," a tall
girl with black hair in a ponytail, Momo Yaoyorozu, sighed, shaking her head.
"It should have been obvious if you just thought it through."
Izuku didn't say anything, but he met Aizawa's
eyes. A silent communication passed between them.
You weren't lying, Izuku's gaze said. You were
ready to cut anyone who didn't fight for survival.
You're sharper than you look, kid, Aizawa's
eyes replied.
"With that, we're done," Aizawa
said, turning and walking away, slipping back into his yellow sleeping bag as
he moved. "There are handouts with the syllabus and such in the classroom.
When you get back, look them over."
As the teacher shuffled away, the class
breathed a collective sigh of relief.
"Man, that was nerve-wracking!"
Kirishima laughed, walking over and slapping Izuku on the back. "Midoriya,
right? You were insane out there! That throw was the most manly thing I've ever
seen!"
"Agreed," Iida said, marching over,
adjusting his glasses. "Your control over your Quirk is phenomenal. I have
much to learn from you!"
"That lightning was so sparkly!"
Ashido added, bounding over.
Within seconds, Izuku was surrounded by his
classmates. They were no longer intimidated by his aura; they were drawn to it.
The primal fear had shifted into profound respect. He was strong, he was
composed, and he was undeniably the anchor of the group.
Bakugo stood on the outskirts, watching the
crowd gather around Izuku. The blonde boy's hands were clenched into tight,
trembling fists. He didn't say a word. He just turned and walked back toward
the school building, his mind consumed by a dark, burning obsession to tear the
King from his throne.
Izuku noticed Bakugo leaving, but he didn't
follow. He stood amidst his new classmates, laughing awkwardly as Kaminari
tried to arm-wrestle him and lost instantly.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Izuku
looked around at the faces of Class 1-A. They were a diverse, chaotic group of
personalities and powers. But as he felt the ancient blood humming in his
veins, and the warm spark of One For All resting securely in his chest, he knew
one thing for certain.
This was his pack now. And the Alpha would
protect them against whatever darkness the world had to offer.
