What If Deku Had a Mythical Hydra Quirk with Regenerative Abilities

The late summer air was thick, suffocating, and vibrated with the relentless drone of cicadas. It was the kind of heat that made the world shimmer like a mirage, distorting the edges of reality. For four-year-old Izuku Midoriya, reality was about to distort in a way he would never, ever forget.

The playground, usually a sanctuary of woodchips, monkey bars, and innocent games of Heroes and Villains, had become a battleground.

Izuku stood trembling, his small, red sneakers planted firmly in the dust. His arms were spread wide in a protective T-pose, though his knees knocked together with such force he felt he might collapse. Behind him cowered another little boy, weeping, clutching a bruised shoulder. In front of him stood Katsuki Bakugo, flanked by his usual lackeys.

Katsuki’s crimson eyes were narrowed, alight with the arrogant fire of a child who had recently discovered he held the power of a god in his palms. His Quirk, Explosion, had manifested only a few weeks prior, and it had fundamentally shifted the hierarchy of their small, sunlit world.

"Kacchan, you're being mean!" Izuku’s voice pitched high, cracking with terror, but he refused to step aside. Tears pricked the corners of his large, emerald eyes. "Can't you see he's crying? If you keep going, I-I'll stop you myself!"

Katsuki paused, a cruel, sharp grin splitting his face. He smacked his palms together. A sharp CRACK echoed through the park, accompanied by a spark of blinding light and the acrid stench of burnt sugar and sulfur.

"You?" Katsuki scoffed, taking a step forward. The two boys behind him snickered. "You don't even have a Quirk yet, Deku. You're just a Quirkless nobody. What are you gonna do?"

Izuku didn't know. He just knew that All Might wouldn't back down. All Might would smile, plant his feet, and save the day. So, Izuku tried to smile. It came out as a pathetic, wobbly grimace.

That grimace enraged Katsuki. It looked like mockery. It looked like defiance.

"Get out of my way, Deku!" Katsuki roared, lunging forward. He didn't mean to do serious harm—he was only four, after all, and his grasp on his own destructive power was tenuous at best. He just wanted to scare Izuku, to push him away with a blast of heat.

But as Katsuki swung his right arm forward, a sudden surge of adrenaline spiked his sweat glands. The explosion that tore from his palm was three times larger than anything he had produced before.

The blast hit Izuku squarely on his left forearm, which he had thrown up in a desperate, reflexive attempt to shield his face.

The sound that followed wasn't a heroic shout. It was a scream. A high, reedy, agonizing scream that tore from Izuku’s throat as the concussive force and blistering heat ripped through his skin. The force threw the small boy backward, sending him tumbling into the dust.

Silence slammed down on the playground. The cicadas seemed to stop chirping. Katsuki froze, his eyes wide, the smoke curling from his trembling palm. The other children gasped, taking frightened steps back.

Izuku lay on the ground, curled into a tight ball, clutching his left arm. The sleeve of his All Might t-shirt was incinerated. Beneath the charred fabric, his forearm was a ruined, blackened mess of third-degree burns and blistered flesh. The pain was beyond anything the child's mind could comprehend; it was a blinding, all-consuming white fire that drowned out the world.

"D-Deku..." Katsuki stammered, the cruel bravado evaporating, replaced by the sudden, terrifying realization of what he had done. "I... I didn't..."

Then, the screaming stopped.

It didn't fade away into whimpers. It stopped instantaneously, cut off as if a switch had been flipped.

Izuku slowly uncurled. His breathing was ragged, heavy, and sounded unnaturally deep for a four-year-old. He didn't look at Katsuki. He was staring down at his ruined arm.

Thump. Thump.

A sickening, wet sound began to emanate from the boy. It sounded like tearing meat, coupled with the grinding of stones.

Katsuki took a step back, his breath catching in his throat. "Deku...?"

Before the terrified eyes of the children, the charred, blackened skin on Izuku’s arm began to split open. But there was no blood. Instead, beneath the ruined flesh, something vibrant and green was moving. In a violent, grotesque molting process, the dead skin sloughed off in large, ashen flakes.

Underneath, Izuku’s arm was no longer human.

It was slightly larger, corded with dense, alien muscle, and completely covered in overlapping, iridescent emerald scales. They caught the afternoon sunlight, gleaming with a hard, diamond-like resilience.

But that wasn't the end.

Izuku let out a sudden, strangled gasp, arching his back as his shirt tore. From the back of his left shoulder, the flesh bubbled and burst outward in a shower of dark, verdant light. A mass of bone, muscle, and scale rapidly elongated, twisting and writhing in the air until it solidified.

Looming over Izuku’s small, trembling frame was a head.

It was serpentine, massive, and spectral in its horrific beauty. Its jaws were lined with rows of needle-sharp, translucent fangs. Hooded, slit-pupiled eyes that glowed with a toxic, radioactive yellow light snapped open.

It was a Hydra.

The beast's head swayed on its long, scaly neck, towering a full three feet above Izuku. It let out a sound that chilled Katsuki to the very marrow of his bones—a deep, resonant, rattling hiss that vibrated in the air like a warning from a predator at the top of the food chain.

Izuku, still kneeling in the dirt, looked up. His own emerald eyes were wide, dilated, mirroring the reptilian gaze of the monstrous appendage growing from his shoulder.

The Hydra head snapped its gaze to Katsuki. Its jaws unhinged, revealing a glowing green throat, and a single drop of liquid fell from its fangs. It hit the dirt, and the earth immediately hissed, melting away into bubbling slag. Acid.

Katsuki couldn't move. The primal, instinctual part of his brain—the part inherited from ancestors who hid in caves from monsters in the dark—was screaming at him. Predator. Danger. Run. Run. RUN.

Tears welled in Katsuki’s eyes. His legs gave out, and he fell backward onto his rear. "M-Monster..." he whimpered, crab-walking backward as fast as his trembling limbs would allow, before finally scrambling to his feet and sprinting away, screaming for his mother. The other children had already fled in sheer terror.

Left alone in the playground, the monstrous serpent head slowly swiveled, looking down at the small boy it was attached to.

Izuku looked at his scaly arm, perfectly healed, utterly untouched by the fire. He looked up at the terrifying, fanged beast protruding from his shoulder. The beast blinked its yellow eyes. Izuku blinked back.

Then, the adrenaline crashed. An overwhelming, ravenous emptiness hollowed out Izuku’s stomach. The world tilted sideways, the Hydra head dissolved into a mist of green light, and the scales on his arm retracted beneath his skin. Izuku collapsed into the dirt, unconscious, his small body utterly depleted by the miraculous, monstrous healing.

"The classification is Mutant, heavily leaning into Transformation, with a secondary Emitter-like biological expulsion," Dr. Garaki explained, adjusting his round glasses. He tapped the glowing X-rays pinned to the lightboard. "In short, Mrs. Midoriya, your son has manifested a Quirk of unprecedented complexity. I’ve tentatively registered it in the database as 'Mythical Hydra'."

Inko Midoriya sat in the hard plastic chair of the clinic, wringing her hands together so tightly her knuckles were white. She looked toward the examination table.

Izuku sat there, his legs dangling over the edge. In his hands, he held a massive, double-patty hamburger, which he was tearing into with a ferocious, animalistic hunger. He had already consumed three bento boxes, a large bowl of ramen, and half a loaf of bread. The nurses kept bringing food, and he kept devouring it.

"I... I don't understand," Inko stammered, tears shining in her eyes. "My Quirk is just small object attraction. My husband breathes minor fire. Where did... where did a giant snake come from? And the scales? And the healing?"

"Quirk genetics are a lottery, Mrs. Midoriya," the doctor said, though a strange, fascinated gleam danced in his eyes. "Sometimes, minor traits from distant ancestors compound into a 'Singularity' mutation. Your husband's fire resistance and your own telekinetic manipulation of matter have seemingly fused into a biological marvel."

Dr. Garaki pointed to the X-ray of Izuku's shoulder. "The boy possesses Hyper-Regeneration. When subjected to trauma, his cells enter a state of aggressive hyper-division. He doesn't just heal; he overwrites the damage. And, as a defense mechanism, the excess bio-mass generated by this rapid cell division manifests as these 'Hydra' appendages."

"Is it dangerous?" Inko whispered, terrified of the answer.

"To others? Extremely. The entity that manifested can spit a highly corrosive acid, and based on his bloodwork, he also possesses a latent paralytic venom. But to Izuku himself? The danger is metabolic." The doctor crossed his arms. "Regeneration violates the law of conservation of mass unless fueled. It requires an astronomical amount of calories. If he sustains a massive injury and his body is forced to regenerate without sufficient caloric reserves... his body will consume its own fat, then muscle, and then his organs, to fuel the healing. He could starve to death in seconds."

Inko covered her mouth, a sob escaping her throat.

Izuku stopped chewing. He looked at his mother, a smudge of ketchup on his cheek. "Mommy? Are you crying because of me? Because I'm a monster?"

The word broke Inko's heart. She rushed to the examination table, throwing her arms around her son, burying her face in his wild green hair. "No, baby, no. You're not a monster. You're my beautiful boy. You're my Izuku."

But as Izuku hugged his mother back, he looked at his left arm. The skin was smooth, unblemished peach. But beneath the surface, he could feel it. The cold, coiled presence of the beast. Waiting. Sleeping.

He knew what he had seen in Kacchan's eyes. It wasn't awe. It wasn't respect.

It was pure, unadulterated terror.

Ten years passed.

The halls of Aldera Junior High were a noisy, chaotic ecosystem, but they always parted like the Red Sea when Izuku Midoriya walked through them.

Izuku, now fourteen, walked with his head down, his shoulders hunched, trying to make his frame appear as small as possible. He wore his black school uniform slightly too large, attempting to hide the broad, heavily muscled physique he had developed. His body, constantly burning calories and subtly fortifying itself against the strain of his Quirk, was built like a heavyweight fighter's. Yet, his posture was that of a kicked puppy.

"There he is," a girl whispered by the lockers, leaning into her friend. "Don't look at him."

"I heard he ate a stray cat once," a boy muttered, safely hidden behind a textbook. "My brother goes to school with Bakugo. Bakugo says Midoriya is basically a villain waiting to happen."

Izuku gripped the straps of his bright yellow backpack tighter. He heard them. He always heard them. His senses were sharper than a normal human's—he could smell the fear on them, a bitter, sour tang that permeated the hallway.

He didn't eat cats. He ate energy bars. He carried a dozen of them in his pockets at all times.

He made it to his desk at the back of the classroom and slid into his seat. He pulled out a charred, slightly battered notebook titled Hero Analysis for the Future No. 13. He opened it to a page detailing the Pro Hero Kamui Woods, immersing himself in the comforting logic of Quirk mechanics and rescue strategies.

A shadow fell over his desk.

Izuku didn't look up, but the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end. The faint, sweet smell of nitroglycerin stung his nostrils.

Katsuki Bakugo stood by his desk, glaring down at him. Katsuki had grown into a fierce, sharp-featured teenager, exuding an aura of explosive confidence. He was the king of the school, destined for U.A. High, destined for greatness.

But when Katsuki looked at Izuku, the scowl on his face was tight, defensive. There was no casual cruelty in his posture, no shoving, no small explosions to intimidate. Katsuki kept a very deliberate three-foot radius between himself and Izuku.

"Move your foot, Deku," Katsuki growled, his voice low.

Izuku realized the toe of his red sneaker was slightly protruding into the aisle. He quickly pulled it back beneath his desk. "S-Sorry, Kacchan."

Katsuki didn't say anything else. He marched to his seat at the front of the class, his back rigid.

Their dynamic was the stuff of legend at Aldera. Everyone knew Bakugo hated Midoriya. But everyone also knew that Bakugo, the most violent, explosive kid in the district, had never once laid a finger on Midoriya since they were four years old.

The other students assumed Bakugo simply found Midoriya too disgusting to touch. Izuku knew the truth. Katsuki wasn't disgusted. He was cautious. Like a man walking past a sleeping bear, you don't poke it with a stick. You just hope it doesn't wake up.

Class began. The teacher, a balding man with a monotonous voice, started slapping a stack of papers against his podium.

"Since you're all third years, it's time for you to think seriously about your futures," the teacher announced. "I'll pass out handouts for your future plans, but... you're all pretty much planning to go into the hero course, right?"

The classroom erupted in cheers, students showing off their Quirks—elongated fingers, minor water jets, glowing eyes.

"Yes, yes, you all have wonderful Quirks!" the teacher laughed. "But remember, using your powers in school is against the rules."

"Sensei! Don't lump me in with these losers!" Katsuki's voice cut through the noise. He leaned back in his chair, his feet resting on his desk, an arrogant smirk on his face. "They'll be lucky to end up as sidekicks to some busted D-lister. I'm the real deal."

The class erupted in angry protests.

"Oh, if I remember correctly, you're aiming for U.A. High, aren't you, Bakugo?" the teacher asked, adjusting his glasses.

The class fell silent. U.A. High School. The national average for acceptance was incredibly low. It was the breeding ground for legends.

"That's exactly why you guys are just extras!" Katsuki boasted, jumping onto his desk. "I aced the mock test! I'm the only one at this school who has a chance! I'll surpass All Might and become the top hero!"

"Oh, Midoriya wants to go to U.A., too, right?" the teacher added absentmindedly, looking at his clipboard.

The silence that followed was heavy, suffocating, and dripping with tension.

Every head turned slowly toward the back of the room. Izuku froze, his pen hovering over his notebook. He shrank down, wishing the floor would open up and swallow him whole.

Nobody laughed. If a Quirkless kid had applied to U.A., they would have laughed themselves sick. But Izuku wasn't Quirkless. He was terrifying.

"Midoriya?" one brave student whispered. "To U.A.? But his Quirk... it's a villain's Quirk. It's totally demonic."

"Could you imagine him on a rescue mission? The victims would die of a heart attack just looking at him."

"I heard his Quirk melts people."

Izuku stared at his desk, his jaw clenched so tight his teeth ached. He didn't say a word. He just stared at the drawing of Kamui Woods.

I'm not a villain, he screamed in his own mind. I want to save people. I want to save people with a smile, just like All Might. Why doesn't anyone believe me?

Katsuki remained silent. He just glared at Izuku, a complex mixture of anger, resentment, and deep-seated apprehension brewing in his crimson eyes. He didn't blow up Izuku's notebook. He didn't threaten him. He just clicked his tongue and sat back down.

When the final bell rang, Izuku was the first one out the door. He couldn't stand the stifling atmosphere of the classroom a second longer. He practically sprinted down the hallway, bursting through the front doors of the school into the cool afternoon air.

He needed to walk. He needed to clear his head.

His path home took him away from the busy streets, winding through a quiet, shaded underpass beneath the city's railway system. It was dark, smelling vaguely of damp concrete and old rain.

Izuku walked slowly, unwrapping a high-calorie protein bar and taking a bite. The peanut butter tasted like ash in his mouth.

Is it pointless? he thought, looking down at his large, calloused hands. Can a monster be a hero? The heroes on TV are bright, and flashy, and inspiring. When people look at me, they just see a nightmare. Aizawa, the Erasure Hero, fights from the shadows... maybe I could be an Underground Hero? But even then...

A strange gurgling sound echoed through the tunnel, snapping Izuku out of his thoughts.

He stopped. The hair on his arms stood on end. His sharpened senses picked up a foul, putrid scent—like raw sewage mixed with rotting meat.

He turned around slowly.

Oozing out from a manhole cover a few yards away was a massive, shifting mountain of dark green, viscous sludge. It bubbled and hissed, coalescing into a towering, gelatinous form. Two massive, bulbous eyes opened within the muck, followed by a jagged maw filled with crooked, rotten teeth.

"Well, well..." a wet, garbled voice echoed from the sludge. "A medium-sized meat-suit. You look nice and sturdy, kid. You'll make a perfect disguise."

Izuku’s eyes widened. A villain. A real villain.

His heart slammed against his ribs. He dropped his notebook. His mind, usually so quick to analyze and strategize, went completely blank with panic. He turned to run, his red sneakers squeaking on the concrete.

"Oh no you don't!" the Sludge Villain roared.

A massive tendril of thick, suffocating mud shot forward with blinding speed, wrapping around Izuku's ankles. With a violent jerk, Izuku was pulled off his feet, slamming hard onto his stomach. Before he could even cry out, the sludge washed over him like a tidal wave.

It was freezing, slimy, and reeked of death. The villain's mass forced its way up Izuku's body, wrapping around his arms, pinning them to his sides, and then surged up his neck.

"Don't fight it, kid," the villain rasped, his face forming mere inches from Izuku's. "It'll only hurt for about 45 seconds. Then, it'll all be over. Thanks for being a hero to me!"

The sludge forced its way into Izuku's nose and mouth.

Izuku gagged, choking on the foul taste of sewer water and mud. His lungs burned. He thrashed wildly, his enhanced muscles straining against the liquid restraints, but it was like trying to punch a river. The more he struggled, the deeper the sludge forced itself into his throat.

I can't breathe...

Black spots danced at the edges of his vision. The terror was absolute. He was going to die here, in a dark tunnel, alone, suffocated by a monster. He reached out a hand, his fingers clawing uselessly at the sludge covering his face.

Mom... All Might... somebody... help me...

His lungs screamed for oxygen. The pain in his chest was unbearable. He was dying.

And then, deep within the cellular structure of Izuku Midoriya's body, a threshold was crossed.

The Quirk 'Mythical Hydra' was not just a tool. It was a biological adaptation designed for one singular, overriding purpose: Survival at all costs.

When the host organism was pushed to the brink of death, the Quirk did not wait for permission. The beast awoke.

Izuku's eyes snapped open. The emerald irises were gone, completely swallowed by a piercing, radioactive yellow. His pupils contracted into razor-thin slits. A guttural, inhuman sound tore from his chest, vibrating through the sludge—a sound that was half-roar, half-hiss.

The Sludge Villain paused, his liquid eyes widening in confusion. "What the... what's with this heat?"

Beneath the villain's mass, Izuku's body temperature skyrocketed. His skin turned violently red, practically boiling the moisture around him.

And then, his back exploded.

It wasn't a metaphor. The skin and muscle of his upper back tore open with sickening violence. The Sludge Villain screamed in shock as two colossal, thick columns of emerald scales and rippling muscle erupted outward, tearing right through his gelatinous body.

The two appendages shot toward the ceiling of the underpass, elongating rapidly, crushing the concrete above them. They thickened, twisting like massive pythons, before whipping downward.

At the end of the scaly columns were two monstrous, draconic heads. They were easily the size of small cars, covered in jagged, crown-like horns, their jaws dripping with a viscous, glowing green fluid.

The Sludge Villain recoiled, releasing his grip on Izuku's face in sheer, unadulterated terror. "What... what the hell are you?!"

Izuku gasped for air, coughing violently, vomiting up dark sludge. He fell to his hands and knees. He wasn't in control. The primal, survival-driven aspect of his Quirk was in the driver's seat.

The two Hydra heads didn't hesitate. They lunged.

One head clamped its massive, fanged jaws around a large portion of the villain's liquid body. The villain shrieked as the needle-sharp teeth tore through him. He tried to reform, but the Hydra's fangs secreted a paralytic venom. Wherever the teeth bit down, the sludge instantly hardened, turning gray and brittle, effectively killing the villain's mobility in that section.

The second head reared back, its throat glowing with a terrible, bright yellow light. With a deafening hiss, it spat a torrent of highly concentrated, corrosive acid.

The acid struck the villain's right side. The sludge immediately boiled, giving off plumes of putrid, toxic steam as the liquid was vaporized into nothingness.

"GAAAAAH! STOP! STOP IT!" the villain shrieked in agony, abandoning any attempt to steal Izuku's body. He was just trying to survive now. He scrambled backward, trying to squeeze himself into the cracks of the concrete, desperate to escape the dual-headed nightmare that was tearing him apart.

Izuku, still on his hands and knees, gripped his head, screaming. "Stop! Stop! Don't kill him!" he choked out, his human consciousness desperately trying to wrestle control back from his instincts.

The Hydra heads paused, hovering over the cowering villain, hissing angrily, acid dripping from their jaws and sizzling on the pavement. They were reluctant to yield, but Izuku's willpower, forged by years of enduring isolation and maintaining his heroic heart, slowly forced them into submission.

Suddenly, a massive, booming voice echoed from the entrance of the tunnel, cutting through the steam and the hissing.

"DO NOT FEAR, YOUNG MAN! FOR I AM...!"

A colossal figure dashed into the tunnel with a shockwave of wind that cleared the toxic steam in an instant. He wore a simple white t-shirt and cargo pants, but his sheer presence, the mountain of muscle, and the unmistakable tufts of blonde hair were recognized globally.

All Might froze mid-stride.

The Symbol of Peace had been tracking the Sludge Villain all afternoon. He had expected to find a civilian in distress. He had his fist cocked back, ready to unleash a Texas Smash to scatter the villain and save the day.

Instead, he stopped, his permanent, booming smile faltering for just a fraction of a second.

The scene before him was straight out of a mythological horror story.

The villain, a known and dangerous criminal, was cowering in the corner, a large portion of his body melted away by acid, another portion petrified by venom. The villain was quite literally crying.

Standing in the center of the tunnel was a teenage boy in a shredded school uniform. And erupting from the boy's back, hovering defensively in the air, were two terrifying, colossal serpents. As All Might stepped forward, the two heads snapped their attention to him, baring their fangs and hissing a lethal warning, recognizing him as a new, massive threat.

All Might's blue eyes widened. He had fought monsters before. He had fought villains with horrifying mutations. But the sheer aura of primal, ancient violence emanating from this boy was staggering.

"I... I..." Izuku choked, his voice cracking. He looked up at his lifelong idol. The yellow faded from his eyes, returning to their normal, tear-filled emerald green.

The fight was over. The adrenaline vanished. And with it, the horrific caloric toll came due.

Izuku felt a ravenous, agonizing hollow open in his stomach, so painful it felt like a physical blade. The two massive Hydra heads let out a mournful wail before suddenly dissolving into a burst of green, glowing dust.

The horrific wounds on Izuku's back, where the heads had torn through his flesh, violently sealed themselves shut in a blur of rapidly dividing cells, steam rising from his skin. The healing consumed whatever energy he had left.

Izuku's knees gave out. He collapsed face-first onto the concrete, weeping hysterically.

"I'm sorry," Izuku sobbed, curling into a ball, refusing to look at his hero. "I'm sorry, I couldn't stop it. I'm a monster. I'm sorry."

All Might stood perfectly still for a moment, the wind howling through the tunnel around him. He looked at the petrified villain, the melted concrete, the raw, destructive power this child had unleashed.

Any normal hero might have called for backup. They might have handcuffed the boy, assuming he was a villain whose Quirk had gone out of control.

But Toshinori Yagi didn't look at the acid or the scales. He looked at the boy. He saw a child who had just been suffocated, who had unleashed a god-like power, and whose first instinct upon gaining control was to apologize and weep.

All Might’s face softened. The heroic, booming smile faded into something far more gentle, far more human. He walked forward, his heavy boots crunching on the ruined concrete.

He didn't hesitate. He didn't show an ounce of fear.

All Might knelt down next to the sobbing teenager and placed a massive, warm hand on Izuku's trembling shoulder.

Izuku flinched, expecting to be struck, expecting to be arrested.

"Young man," All Might's voice was quiet, rumbling deep in his chest. "Look at me."

Izuku slowly raised his head. His face was streaked with tears, dirt, and sludge. He looked into All Might's eyes, bracing himself for the disgust, for the inevitable rejection.

"You were scared," All Might said gently. "You were dying. Your body did what it had to do to survive. Do you understand?"

"B-But I almost killed him," Izuku cried, pointing a trembling finger at the villain, who was currently trying to scrape himself together. "A hero doesn't... a hero doesn't melt people! My Quirk... it's evil!"

All Might’s grip on Izuku's shoulder tightened slightly, reassuring and firm.

"There is no such thing as an evil Quirk, young man," All Might said, his voice ringing with absolute, unshakable conviction. "Powers are merely tools. Fire can cook a meal, or it can burn down a house. A blade can save a life in a surgeon's hand, or end one in a murderer's. What matters is the heart of the one wielding it."

Izuku stared at him, the tears freezing on his cheeks. No one. No one in his entire life had ever said that to him.

All Might looked at the devastation around them, his sharp tactical mind analyzing the situation. The boy possessed a Quirk of cataclysmic proportions. A Quirk driven by instinct and violence. If left unchecked, if isolated and feared by society, this boy could easily be driven down a dark path. He could become a tragedy.

But as All Might looked into Izuku's emerald eyes, he didn't see a villain. He saw a pure, desperate desire to be good. He saw a spirit that had been crushed by the world, yet still refused to turn to darkness.

All Might made a decision. It wasn't the decision he had woken up planning to make today. He was looking for a successor to One For All, a quirkless vessel to carry the torch. This boy was the absolute opposite of quirkless. He was a living force of nature.

But All Might was a hero. And right now, a boy needed saving.

"What is your name, young man?" All Might asked, standing up to his full, towering height, offering a hand down to Izuku.

"M-Midoriya," Izuku stammered, hesitantly reaching up. "Izuku Midoriya."

All Might pulled him to his feet with ease.

"Listen to me, Young Midoriya," All Might said, his smile returning, bright and resolute. "Your power is terrifying. It is dangerous. It is wild. But you... you are not a monster."

Izuku’s breath hitched. A fresh wave of tears welled in his eyes, but this time, they weren't tears of fear.

"It is the heart that makes a hero," All Might continued, striking a heroic pose, pointing a finger at Izuku's chest. "And you have the heart of a hero! I can see it! But a hero must be a master of himself. If you let the beast control you, you will fail. But if you learn to control the beast... if you can bridle that power and use it to protect the innocent... you will become a hero like no other."

Izuku couldn't breathe. The words he had waited his entire life to hear, the validation he had craved through ten years of isolation and fear, were being spoken to him by his ultimate idol.

"Y-You really think so?" Izuku choked out, dropping to his knees, burying his face in his hands. "You think I can be a hero?"

"I do not just think it, I know it!" All Might boomed, his voice echoing out of the tunnel. "But you have a long, difficult road ahead of you, Young Midoriya. You must forge a will of iron to tame the Hydra within! Will you let me guide you? Will you let me train you to become a hero?!"

Izuku looked up, the setting sun catching the edge of the tunnel, illuminating All Might like a god descended from the heavens.

Izuku didn't just want to be a hero anymore. He had to be. For himself, for his mother, and now, to prove this man right. He wiped his tears with a soot-stained sleeve, a new, fiery determination igniting in his eyes.

"Yes!" Izuku shouted, his voice echoing off the concrete walls. "Yes, I will!"

Deep within Izuku, the coiled, monstrous presence of the Hydra stirred, not with rage, but with a quiet, resonant purr. The monster had found a master. And the fanboy had found a mentor.

The legend of the Immortal Hero was about to begin.

The alarm clock did not stand a chance. At precisely 5:00 AM, a heavy, calloused hand shot out from beneath the All Might-themed comforter and silenced the ringing with a resounding CRACK. Izuku Midoriya sat up in the pre-dawn darkness, rubbing his face. He didn't just feel awake; his metabolism was already roaring like a furnace, demanding fuel.

He moved to the kitchen with the practiced, heavy steps of a heavyweight boxer. Waiting for him on the counter, prepared lovingly by his mother the night before, was breakfast. It was not a normal breakfast. There were two whole roasted chickens, a mountain of white rice, three dozen scrambled eggs, and a gallon of high-protein milk.

Izuku ate with a mechanical, ravenous efficiency. He had to.

Ten months had passed since the incident in the underpass. Ten months of grueling, secret training with All Might at Dagobah Municipal Beach. But All Might hadn't just trained Izuku's body; he had trained his mind. He had taught Izuku how to communicate with the terrifying biological entity that lived in his cellular structure.

“The Hydra is not a separate being, Young Midoriya,” All Might had told him one crisp morning as Izuku dragged a rusted pickup truck across the sand. “It is your survival instinct made manifest. It reacts to fear, anger, and pain. To control it, you must control your own heart. You must become the master of your own fear.”

It hadn't been easy. The first few months, manifesting even a single serpentine head resulted in wild, destructive thrashing. But slowly, through meditation, immense physical conditioning, and an absurd caloric intake to prevent his body from cannibalizing itself, Izuku learned to bridle the beast.

He finished the last piece of chicken, tossing the bone into the trash. He flexed his left hand. For a fleeting second, the peach skin of his forearm rippled, shifting into hard, iridescent emerald scales, before shifting back. Complete control.

Today was the U.A. Entrance Exam.

The towering H-shaped glass structure of U.A. High School loomed against the crisp morning sky, casting long shadows over the thousands of hopeful applicants streaming through its gates.

Izuku walked through the courtyard, feeling the familiar, prickling sensation of eyes on him. He had grown significantly over the last ten months. Standing at a solid five-foot-nine, his chest and shoulders were broad, packed with dense muscle necessary to anchor the massive physical forces his Quirk generated. His wild, dark green hair shadowed his eyes, and his jawline was sharp.

He didn't look like a typical middle schooler. He looked intimidating. He looked dangerous.

"Whoa, look at that guy," a boy with a minor mutation Quirk whispered to his friend, pointing discreetly.

"Is he a pro already? He looks like a villain," the friend whispered back, shrinking away.

Izuku sighed, pulling the straps of his backpack tighter. He was used to the whispers. He kept his head down, trying to emanate as much harmless energy as possible. It was difficult when your resting aura screamed apex predator.

"Out of my way, Deku."

The gruff, abrasive voice sent a familiar spike of tension down Izuku's spine. Katsuki Bakugo walked past him, his hands shoved deep into his pockets, his posture slouching but aggressive. Bakugo didn't look at Izuku. He kept that same, deliberate distance he had maintained for ten years.

"G-Good morning, Kacchan," Izuku offered quietly.

Bakugo just clicked his tongue and kept walking. It was a victory, in a way. No explosions. No threats. Just an uncomfortable truce forged by mutual, underlying apprehension.

Izuku took a step forward, distracted by Bakugo's departure, and his red sneaker caught the edge of an uneven paving stone. He stumbled, his immense weight pitching forward. Before he could brace for the concrete, a sudden weightlessness overtook him. He was floating.

"Are you okay?"

Izuku righted himself in mid-air, his feet touching gently back down to the ground. He turned to see a girl with round cheeks, warm brown eyes, and a bob cut. She had her hands clasped together, a bright, genuine smile on her face.

"It's my Quirk, Zero Gravity," she explained, releasing the technique. "Sorry I used it without asking, but it would be bad luck if you fell right before the exam, right?"

Izuku stared at her. His sharpened senses picked up no fear, no apprehension, no sour scent of anxiety. She was just... nice. His brain, so accustomed to analyzing threats and managing his own terrifying image, short-circuited.

"I... uh... th-thank you!" Izuku stammered, his cheeks burning red. In his flustered state, a small patch of green scales instinctively bloomed on his neck—a nervous tic.

The girl noticed the scales, her eyes widening slightly, but her smile didn't falter. "Whoa, cool! Are you a reptile type? I'm Ochaco Uraraka. Good luck today!"

Before Izuku could form a coherent sentence, she waved and jogged toward the auditorium. Izuku stood there, dumbfounded. She didn't run away. She said it was cool. A small, genuine smile touched his lips.

Inside the massive auditorium, the Voice Hero: Present Mic explained the rules of the practical exam. It was a standard villain-takedown scenario using automated robots across a massive simulated city. Points were awarded based on the difficulty of the robots.

As Izuku furiously scribbled notes in his battered notebook, muttering possible tactical applications for his acid and venom against metal chassis, a tall, imposing boy with glasses and engines in his calves stood up.

"Excuse me!" the boy shouted, pointing directly at Izuku. "You, the boy with the wild hair! Your constant muttering and your dark, intimidating aura are highly distracting! If you are here to treat this as a joke, or to intimidate your fellow examinees, you should leave immediately!"

The entire auditorium turned to look at Izuku. The whispers started again. Izuku shrank down in his seat, his face burning, burying his face in his hands. I wasn't trying to be intimidating, he thought miserably. I was just doing math.

The towering gates of Test Area Ground Beta slowly groaned open. A sprawling, hyper-realistic replica of a modern city lay beyond.

Dozens of examinees stood at the starting line, stretching, psyching themselves up. Izuku stood at the very front, his eyes locked on the empty streets. He was wearing his dark green tracksuit. He took a deep breath, feeling the air fill his expanded lungs. He closed his eyes and reached inward, feeling the coiled, sleeping mass of bio-energy resting at the base of his spine.

Wake up, Izuku commanded it. But follow my lead.

"START!" Present Mic's voice boomed over the speakers.

Most of the examinees hesitated, waiting for a countdown. Izuku did not. He bolted forward like a sprinter off the blocks, his powerful legs eating up the pavement.

"Hey, what are you waiting for?!" Present Mic yelled. "There are no countdowns in real battles! Run, run, RUN!"

As Izuku rounded the first corner, a massive, one-wheeled robot—a 1-Pointer—rolled out of an alleyway, its red optical sensor locking onto him. "Target acquired."

Izuku didn't slow down. He let out a sharp exhale.

The transformation was instantaneous, violent, and awe-inspiring. The fabric on the back of his tracksuit tore open. In a blinding flash of emerald light and a sound like snapping timber, thick, overlapping scales violently pushed through his skin. From his shoulder blades, two massive, sinewy necks erupted outward, growing to a length of eight feet in a fraction of a second.

At the ends of the necks were the heads of the Mythical Hydra. They were terrifying, crowned with jagged horns, their slit-pupiled, glowing yellow eyes locking onto the robot.

The examinees who had just rounded the corner stopped dead in their tracks, screaming in shock at the monstrous display.

Izuku didn't lose control. His own human eyes remained clear and focused. He pointed at the 1-Pointer.

One of the Hydra heads struck with the speed of a striking cobra. Its jaws unhinged, clamping over the robot's entire upper chassis. With a sickening crunch of metal, the Hydra’s immense jaw pressure shattered the robot's armor, instantly destroying it.

Before the robot even hit the ground, a 2-Pointer resembling a mechanical scorpion scuttled out of a storefront.

Izuku didn't break stride. He commanded the second head. The serpent's throat glowed a toxic yellow. It opened its maw and unleashed a pressurized stream of glowing green acid. The liquid hit the 2-Pointer's optical sensors and joints. The metal hissed violently, bubbling and melting into a puddle of useless slag within two seconds.

Three points, Izuku calculated, leaping over the melting wreckage.

High above, in a darkened observation room, the faculty of U.A. watched the monitors.

"Well, well, that's a terrifying sight," the R-Rated Hero, Midnight, murmured, a shiver running down her spine as she watched Izuku's screen. "A mutation that aggressive... it's almost demonic."

"It's highly efficient," Snipe noted, adjusting his mask. "He's not just swinging those things around wildly. Look at his eyes. He's commanding them with surgical precision."

In the corner, a dark-haired man wrapped in what looked like a yellow sleeping bag scoffed. Shota Aizawa, the Erasure Hero, narrowed his bloodshot eyes at the screen. "Flashy. Destructive. But it relies entirely on overwhelming force. Quirks like that breed arrogance. Let's see how he handles something he can't just bite."

Back in the simulated city, Izuku was a one-man natural disaster. He had manifested four heads now—two from his shoulders, two from his lower back. He moved like a conductor of an orchestra of violence. One head crushed, another melted, a third spat paralytic venom into exhaust ports to short-circuit internal wiring, and the fourth acted as a defensive shield, swatting away rubber bullets fired by 3-Pointers.

He was at 65 points. But he could feel the drain. The immense caloric cost of maintaining the biological mass of four massive appendages was staggering. His stomach was hollow, aching. He needed to finish this soon.

Suddenly, the ground shook.

It wasn't a minor tremor. The buildings swayed, glass shattering in the windows. From the center of the city, a shadow fell over the streets.

The Zero-Pointer. It was a behemoth, a colossal machine the size of a skyscraper, crushing everything in its path.

"Less than two minutes left!" Present Mic announced.

Panic erupted among the examinees. The sheer scale of the Zero-Pointer triggered their fight-or-flight responses. The streets were filled with screaming teenagers running in the opposite direction.

Izuku retracted three of his Hydra heads to conserve energy, keeping only one manifested over his right shoulder. He turned to run, following the tactical logic. There were no points to be gained here.

"Ow! Someone, help!"

Izuku froze. His enhanced hearing picked up the faint, desperate cry over the grinding of massive gears. He looked back.

A hundred yards away, directly in the path of the colossal robot's tread, was the girl with the bob cut. Uraraka. A massive chunk of rubble had fallen from a building, pinning her leg to the ground. She was frantically trying to push it off, tears streaming down her face as the shadow of the Zero-Pointer fell over her.

Nobody else stopped. They were all running for their lives.

Izuku didn't think. The analytical part of his brain shut down. The heroic heart that All Might had recognized took complete control.

He dug his red sneakers into the pavement, shattering the concrete beneath him, and launched himself backward, sprinting towards the mechanical titan.

I can't destroy it, his brain calculated rapidly as he ran. It's too massive. Even if I acid-melt the armor, the structural weight will just collapse on top of her. I need to disable its mobility!

Izuku reached the rubble. Uraraka looked up at him, her eyes wide with terror and disbelief. "Y-You came back?"

"I've got you!" Izuku yelled over the deafening roar of the machine.

He didn't try to move the rubble yet. He stepped in front of her, facing the oncoming, house-sized tread of the Zero-Pointer. He widened his stance, calling upon every ounce of power he had left.

I need volume. I need heat.

The single Hydra head over his shoulder expanded, its neck thickening, its scales turning from emerald to a burning, radioactive yellow. It unhinged its jaws impossibly wide.

Izuku screamed, forcing his bio-energy to the absolute limit.

A torrential river of boiling, highly concentrated acid erupted from the Hydra's maw, slamming directly into the base of the Zero-Pointer's main tread apparatus. The volume was astounding. The acid didn't just melt the metal; it flash-boiled it. The massive titanium gears and rubber treads hissed, popping and dissolving into a waterfall of molten slag.

With its primary drive system suddenly liquefied, the laws of physics took over. The colossal machine let out a deafening metallic groan. Its forward momentum shifted, and the entire Zero-Pointer pitched sideways, crashing into a row of simulated buildings away from the street, missing Izuku and Uraraka by mere feet.

The concussive force of the fall threw up a massive cloud of dust and debris.

Izuku gasped, dropping to his knees. The Hydra head dissolved into dust. He was starving. He felt like his stomach was digesting his own ribs.

But he wasn't done. He turned back to Uraraka. He gripped the massive piece of concrete pinning her leg. With a roar of exertion, his arms bulging with latent physical strength, he heaved the rubble off her.

"Are you okay?" he panted, offering his hand.

Uraraka was staring past him, her face completely pale. "Look out!"

Izuku looked up just in time. The collapse of the Zero-Pointer had destabilized the facade of the building next to them. A massive, jagged steel girder was falling right toward Uraraka.

Izuku moved on pure instinct. He shoved her violently out of the way, throwing his own body into the path of the falling steel.

CRUNCH.

The sound was sickening. The steel girder slammed into Izuku's right leg, pinning him to the ground. The sheer weight and force of the impact instantly shattered his tibia and fibula, grinding the bones to powder.

Izuku let out an agonizing, blood-curdling scream. The pain was blinding, a white-hot spike that pierced his very soul.

In the observation room, Present Mic jumped up. "We need Recovery Girl out there now! That boy's leg is completely crushed!"

"Wait," Aizawa said, his eyes glued to the monitor, his voice uncharacteristically intense. "Watch."

Down in the dust-filled street, Uraraka scrambled to her feet, horrified. "No! Oh my god, your leg!"

Izuku was hyperventilating, his hands clawing at the concrete. The pain was trying to pull him into unconsciousness. But the Quirk... the Hydra... it did not allow its host to remain broken.

Consume. Repair. SURVIVE.

"GAAAAAAAH!" Izuku roared, throwing his head back.

The process was not beautiful. It was terrifying. The skin around the crushed area of his leg suddenly turned pitch black, necrotic, and sloughed off. Beneath it, the blood and ruined muscle began to aggressively boil.

Uraraka watched in horror and awe as bright green, glowing tendrils of bio-energy shot across the wound. The crushed shards of bone were violently expelled from his skin, hitting the pavement with bloody clicks. Instantly, new, pristine white bone grew at an impossible speed to replace it, bridging the gap. Muscle fibers knit together like a high-speed loom, binding the bone. Finally, overlapping emerald scales washed over the new flesh, hardening before retracting beneath smooth, peach skin.

The entire process took six seconds.

Izuku lay on his back, panting heavily, his eyes rolled back slightly. The caloric debt was astronomical. He felt like he had been starved for a month.

Slowly, shakily, he pushed the steel girder off his newly constructed leg with a perfectly functioning foot. He stood up, trembling, but putting his full weight on a limb that had been powder mere moments ago.

"TIME'S UP!" the buzzer blared.

Izuku looked at Uraraka, gave a weak, thumbs-up, and then promptly passed out, collapsing face-first into the street.

A week later, Izuku stood outside a massive door labeled "1-A". In his hand, he held a holographic acceptance letter from All Might. He hadn't just passed; he had placed third overall, earning 65 villain points and a staggering 60 rescue points.

He was going to be a hero.

He took a deep breath, adjusting the collar of his U.A. uniform, and slid the door open.

The chatter in the room instantly died.

Twenty pairs of eyes turned to look at him. The atmosphere shifted from excited anticipation to sudden, heavy tension. Izuku’s monstrous reputation had preceded him.

"It's him," a short boy with purple balls on his head squeaked, hiding behind a desk. "The guy who melted the 2-Pointers."

A boy with blonde hair and a black lightning bolt streak swallowed hard. "He looks like he eats people."

Katsuki Bakugo sat in the corner, his feet on his desk. When Izuku walked in, Bakugo’s eyes narrowed, and he slowly, deliberately took his feet down, sitting up straight. The subtle shift in posture wasn't lost on the rest of the class. If Bakugo, the most aggressive guy in the room, was taking this guy seriously, they all should.

The tall boy with glasses, Iida, marched up to Izuku. "I am Tenya Iida! I misjudged you at the auditorium! You realized there was a hidden rescue metric in the exam, didn't you? Your fearsome appearance masks a truly heroic intellect!"

"I... uh, I didn't know about the metric," Izuku admitted quietly, rubbing the back of his neck, his cheeks flushing. "I just saw someone in trouble."

"Deku!"

Izuku looked past Iida to see Uraraka bounding toward him, her face alight with excitement. "You made it! I knew you would! Your quirk is so amazing! The way you healed your leg... it was scary, but it was so cool!"

The tension in the room broke slightly. If the cute, bubbly girl thought the monster was okay, maybe he wasn't going to eat them.

"If you're just here to make friends, you can pack up your things and leave."

The voice was tired, dry, and came from the floor.

The class jumped as a man in a yellow sleeping bag rolled through the doorway. He unzipped the bag and stood up, revealing a disheveled man with dark hair, bags under his eyes, and a gray scarf wrapped around his neck.

"I'm your homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa. It took you eight seconds to quiet down. Time is a limited resource. You kids aren't rational enough." Aizawa reached into his sleeping bag and pulled out a blue and white gym uniform. "Put these on and head out to the P.E. grounds."

The sun beat down on the dirt field as Class 1-A stood in their gym uniforms.

"A Quirk Apprehension Test?!" the class echoed in unison.

"What about the entrance ceremony? The orientation?" Uraraka asked.

"If you're going to become a hero, you don't have time for such leisurely events," Aizawa said, his back to them. "U.A.'s selling point is how unrestricted its school traditions are. That's also how the teachers run their classes."

Aizawa turned around, holding a softball. "You kids have been doing these tests since junior high, but without your Quirks. The country still uses averages taken from results devoid of Quirks. It's not rational. Bakugo, you finished first in the practical exam, right?"

Bakugo scowled but nodded.

"In junior high, what was your best result for the softball throw?"

"Sixty-seven meters," Bakugo grunted.

"Try doing it with your Quirk." Aizawa tossed him the ball.

Bakugo stepped into the circle. He stretched his arms, a feral grin spreading across his face. He wound up, and as he threw the ball, he unleashed a massive explosion from his palm. "DIE!"

The ball rocketed into the sky, leaving a trail of smoke. Aizawa held up a device. 705.2 meters.

The class erupted in excitement. "Over 700 meters! That's awesome!" "We can use our Quirks as much as we want! This looks fun!"

Aizawa's eyes darkened. "Fun? You have three years to become heroes. Will you have an attitude like that the whole time?" Aizawa smiled, but it was a terrifying, chilling expression. "Alright. Whoever comes in last place in all eight tests will be judged to have no potential, and will be punished with expulsion."

The class gasped in horror. Izuku swallowed hard, his mind racing. Expulsion on the first day?

"Welcome to U.A.'s Hero Course," Aizawa said, pushing his hair back. "Midoriya. You're up next."

Izuku blinked, surprised. Usually, they went in alphabetical order. He felt the eyes of his classmates bore into his back as he walked to the pitching circle.

He took the ball from Aizawa. The sphere felt small in his large, calloused hand.

"Midoriya," Aizawa said softly, so only Izuku could hear. "I watched your exam. Your regeneration is phenomenal. Your destructive power is immense."

"Thank you, sir," Izuku said nervously.

"Don't thank me," Aizawa’s eyes narrowed. "Because right now, you are a liability."

Izuku flinched.

"You rely entirely on overwhelming force and your ability to take a hit," Aizawa continued coldly. "Your healing is a crutch. What happens when a villain wraps you in carbon-steel wire and drops you in the ocean? You'll regenerate your lungs every time you drown, over and over, until you starve to death. Your healing makes you a durable punching bag. If you just rely on outlasting your opponent, you will fail, and you will die."

Izuku stared at him. The words hit him like a physical blow, because Aizawa was absolutely right. If he only relied on the Hydra's brute strength and his own healing, he was nothing but a meat shield.

Suddenly, Aizawa's hair stood on end. His scarf levitated around his neck, and his dark eyes burned red.

Izuku felt a strange, cold sensation wash over him. The latent, coiled energy of the Hydra at the base of his spine vanished. His Quirk was gone.

"I've erased your Quirk," Aizawa stated. "Throw the ball. Let's see what the 'monster' can do without his fangs."

Izuku looked at the ball. He could throw it with his natural, trained strength. With ten months of All Might's training, he could probably hit fifty or sixty meters. But that wouldn't prove anything. That would just prove he was strong.

He needed to prove he was rational. He needed to prove he wasn't just a beast.

Izuku closed his eyes. He analyzed the mechanics of a throw. It was about leverage, centrifugal force, and the transfer of kinetic energy from the core to the extremity. How could he use the Hydra for technique rather than destruction?

Izuku opened his eyes and looked at Aizawa. "Sensei. I understand."

Aizawa blinked. The boy didn't look angry. He looked intensely focused. Aizawa released his Quirk. His hair fell flat.

Instantly, the warmth of the Hydra flooded back into Izuku's veins. But he didn't let it run wild. He didn't sprout massive, terrifying heads from his back. He commanded it with surgical precision.

Izuku rolled up his right sleeve.

"Watch out, he's gonna turn into that giant snake thing!" Mineta screamed, covering his head.

But Izuku didn't. Instead, the skin of his right arm rippled. From his shoulder, two thin, incredibly dense, whip-like serpentine tails erupted. They weren't heads; they were muscular, scaly appendages, no thicker than a rope, but woven from the hyper-dense muscle fibers of his Quirk.

The two tails rapidly wound themselves down Izuku's arm, spiraling around his bicep, his forearm, and finally weaving through his fingers, wrapping securely around the softball.

The class watched in stunned silence. He had essentially built a biological exoskeleton, a muscular sling, around his throwing arm.

Izuku stepped to the edge of the circle. He didn't just throw the ball; he spun. He used his immense physical weight to generate a terrifying amount of torque, pivoting on his heel. As he released the ball, the two serpentine tails snapped forward like a colossal bullwhip, transferring all that rotational kinetic energy directly into the sphere.

The crack of the release sounded like a cannon shot. The air pressure displaced by the snap kicked up a cloud of dust around the circle.

The ball vanished into the stratosphere, leaving a visible shockwave in its wake.

Izuku stood in the circle, panting slightly. The scaly tails unspooled from his arm, dissolving into green mist before re-entering his skin. He hadn't caused any collateral damage. He hadn't lost control. He had used his Quirk as a precision tool.

He turned to Aizawa, his emerald eyes burning with quiet determination. "Sensei. I'm not just a meat shield."

Aizawa looked at his device. The numbers glowed in the sunlight.

712.4 meters.

Aizawa let out a low huff of breath. The terrifying smile returned to his face, but this time, it held a glint of genuine approval. "Rational."

The class erupted.

"Seven hundred and twelve meters?!" Kaminari yelled. "He beat Bakugo without even using the giant heads!"

"He used it like a sling!" Iida analyzed, chopping his hand through the air. "Incredible bio-mechanical application!"

Bakugo stood rigid, his crimson eyes wide, staring at the dust settling around Izuku. He was shaking, his fists clenched so tight his knuckles were white. Deku hadn't just gotten a Quirk. He had mastered it. He was thinking. He was adapting.

The rest of the tests proceeded. And in every single one, Izuku proved he was a thinker.

In the 50-meter dash, he didn't run. He manifested two small Hydra heads facing backward over his shoulders, commanding them to spit a concussive burst of harmless, pressurized air (a variation of the venom sac mechanism) to propel himself forward like a rocket, crossing the finish line in 3.1 seconds.

In the grip strength test, he wrapped a small, highly condensed serpent coil around his own forearm, utilizing the snake's natural constricting power to squeeze the machine until the digital reader shattered at 900 kilograms.

He was starving by the end of it, practically inhaling five protein bars while the others finished, but he hadn't lost control once.

When the holographic scoreboard was projected, Izuku Midoriya's name sat comfortably at the number two spot, right below Momo Yaoyorozu. Bakugo was third.

"By the way, I lied about the expulsion," Aizawa said deadpan, tucking his hands into his pockets. "It was a rational deception to draw out the upper limits of your Quirks."

The class collectively shrieked, save for Yaoyorozu and Todoroki. Izuku just let out a long sigh of relief, sagging his broad shoulders.

As the class began to walk back to the locker rooms, Izuku felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned to see Aizawa.

"You have potential, Midoriya," Aizawa said quietly, his tone devoid of its usual lethargy. "Your Quirk is inherently violent. The world will see you as a villain if you slip up even once. You have to work twice as hard as everyone else here to prove you are a hero. Understood?"

Izuku looked at the Erasure Hero. He understood perfectly. He had lived it his whole life.

"I understand, Sensei," Izuku nodded firmly.

As Izuku walked away, catching up with Uraraka and Iida who were waiting for him, Aizawa watched him go. The kid was a monster, yes. But he was a monster with the mind of a tactician and the heart of a saint.

This year, Aizawa thought, pulling his scarf over his mouth, is going to be very interesting.

The bus ride to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint was supposed to be a reprieve. For Izuku, seated near the back and methodically working his way through his sixth vacuum-sealed protein brick of the morning, it was an exercise in hyper-vigilance.

He sat quietly, his broad shoulders squeezed against the window, listening to the casual banter of his classmates. Since the Quirk Apprehension Test, the atmosphere around him had shifted. The sheer terror he inspired had diluted into a wary, morbid curiosity.

"Midoriya," a blunt, croaking voice called out.

Izuku blinked, looking across the aisle. Tsuyu Asui, a girl with wide, unblinking eyes and a distinct frog-like mutation, was staring directly at him. She rested a finger against her chin. "I generally say what's on my mind. Your Quirk is terrifying."

The bus went dead silent. Kaminari winced. Mineta ducked behind a seat. Even Katsuki Bakugo, sitting near the front, cracked an eye open, turning his head slightly to listen.

Izuku froze, a piece of protein bar halfway to his mouth. He swallowed hard, his posture immediately shrinking. "I... yeah. I know, Asui."

"Call me Tsu," she corrected smoothly. "But I wasn't finished. It's terrifying, like a villain's Quirk. But the way you use it to protect people, like Uraraka at the exam... it makes you seem incredibly dependable. Like a dragon guarding a castle. It’s very heroic, ribbit."

Izuku stared at her, utterly caught off guard. His cheeks flushed a deep, violent red. He rubbed the back of his neck, a small patch of emerald scales briefly shimmering into existence before he suppressed them. "T-Thank you, Tsu. That means... that means a lot to me."

"Yeah, well, it might be flashy, but it's just raw power!" Kirishima chimed in, hardening his fist with a clink. "My Hardening is great for brawling, but it doesn't have that crazy 'end of the world' vibe Midoriya's got going on."

"Don't sell yourself short, Kirishima," Izuku said quickly, eager to deflect the attention. "Your Quirk is structurally flawless for frontline combat and shielding. It's essentially riot gear fused with human biology!"

The conversation flowed into an argument about pro-hero popularity, mostly driven by an irate Bakugo shouting down Kaminari. Izuku smiled, looking out the window. A dragon guarding a castle. He could live with that.

The bus rolled to a stop outside a massive, domed structure that looked like an oversized botanical garden.

Waiting for them at the entrance was the Space Hero: Thirteen. Clad in a puffy white astronaut suit, the hero bowed slightly as the students filed off the bus.

Once inside, the sheer scale of the U.S.J. took their breath away. It was a sprawling, compartmentalized biodome containing a ruined city, a massive shipwreck pool, a faux mountain range, and a raging fire zone.

"Before we begin," Thirteen addressed the class, raising three fingers. "I have one or two... or three things to say. As you all know, my Quirk is Black Hole. I can suck up and tear apart any material. However, it is a power that can easily kill."

Izuku’s posture straightened. His eyes locked onto Thirteen.

"In our superhuman society, Quirks are heavily regulated and restricted. But please do not forget that many of you possess Quirks that, if one step is taken out of line, can be lethal," Thirteen continued, their voice taking on a somber tone. "Aizawa's physical test showed you your potential. But today, you will learn how to use your Quirks to save lives. You will learn that your powers are not meant to inflict harm, but to help."

Izuku looked down at his own large hands. He thought of the burning acid, the paralytic venom, the crushing jaws. Thirteen's words resonated in his very marrow. He closed his fists. To save lives.

Suddenly, the lights illuminating the massive dome flickered. With a sharp, electronic clack, the power cut out.

Down in the central plaza, directly in front of a large fountain, the air began to distort. A pinprick of dark, purple-black mist appeared, rapidly expanding, tearing a hole in the very fabric of space.

"Gather together and don't move!" Aizawa barked, his lethargy vanishing in an instant. He ripped his capture scarf from his shoulders, his eyes locked onto the plaza. "Thirteen, protect the students!"

From the swirling vortex of darkness, a pale, disembodied hand reached out. Then, a man covered head-to-toe in similar severed hands stepped through. He possessed shaggy, pale blue hair and dead, scratched eyes.

"Eraserhead and Thirteen," the man rasped, his voice scratching against the silence of the dome. "According to the schedule we retrieved... All Might should be here. Where is he? I went through the trouble of bringing this whole crowd, too..."

Behind him, dozens of horrifying, armed villains poured out of the warp gate, filling the plaza. But trailing just behind the pale man was something far worse. A towering, hulking monstrosity with exposed brain matter, a beak-like jaw, and eyes devoid of intelligence or soul. The Nomu.

"Villains," Aizawa stated, sliding his yellow goggles over his eyes. "No way they could get into a hero school... unless they have a warp Quirk."

Izuku felt the hairs on his arms stand up. His sharpened senses were assaulted by the scent of ozone, unwashed bodies, and the distinct, coppery tang of bloodlust. His heart began to hammer against his ribs. Deep within him, the Hydra awoke, sensing a genuine, lethal threat. The coiled energy hissed in his veins, demanding to be let out.

Izuku gritted his teeth, forcing the beast down. Not yet. I have to stay rational.

"Thirteen, begin evacuation!" Aizawa yelled, leaping directly off the stairs and plunging into the horde of villains below.

The students turned to run, but the purple mist suddenly expanded, rocketing up the stairs and cutting off their exit. The mist coalesced into a humanoid shape with glowing yellow eyes. "I am afraid I cannot allow that. We are the League of Villains. We have come to extinguish the Symbol of Peace."

Kirishima and Bakugo lunged at the mist, a flurry of explosions and hardened fists, but their attacks passed right through.

"Fools," Kurogiri whispered. The mist suddenly exploded outward in a massive dome, swallowing the students whole.

Izuku felt the ground vanish beneath his feet. The world dissolved into a swirling vortex of purple and black. The sensation of falling was absolute. Then, the smell of salt and stagnant water filled his nose, and he plunged directly into a freezing body of water.

The Shipwreck Zone.

Izuku broke the surface, gasping for air. He treaded water, shaking his wet green hair from his eyes. A short distance away, Mineta was flailing, screaming in terror.

"Mineta!" Izuku swam toward him.

Suddenly, a massive, webbed hand shot out of the water, grabbing Mineta by his diaper-like costume and yanking him into the air. Tsuyu Asui broke the surface, clutching the wailing boy. "Midoriya! Grab on!" she yelled, shooting her long, prehensile tongue out.

Izuku wrapped his hand around her tongue, and with a powerful leap, Tsuyu dragged all three of them out of the water and onto the deck of a rusted, simulated shipwreck sitting in the middle of the lake.

"Thanks, Tsu," Izuku panted, shaking water off his arms.

"We don't have time to relax," Tsuyu pointed down at the water.

Circling the ship were dozens of aquatic villains. They possessed shark-like fins, webbed appendages, and gills. They were armed with tridents and harpoons, grinning up at the students like wolves looking at caged meat.

"We're dead! We're totally dead!" Mineta shrieked, pulling his purple hair-balls from his head in a panic. "They're gonna eat us!"

"They separated us to give themselves an environmental advantage," Izuku muttered, his mind working at lightning speed. "They sent Tsu here, knowing she's a frog, which means they don't actually know our Quirks. They just dumped us blindly."

"So they don't know what you can do," Tsuyu observed.

Izuku looked down at his hands. The water dripping from his skin felt... comfortable. His Quirk was heavily reptilian. Amphibious, even. The cold water didn't sap his energy; it awakened something primal in him. An apex predator of the swamps and deep waters.

"Tsu," Izuku said, his voice dropping an octave, taking on a subtle, rattling hiss. "Can you jump all the way to the shoreline carrying Mineta?"

"Yes, but I'd be leaving you behind," she croaked.

"I'll be right behind you." Izuku stepped to the edge of the ship. "Mineta, throw as many of your spheres into the water as you can."

"What?! Are you crazy?!"

"Just do it!" Izuku commanded, his voice echoing with an unnatural resonance.

Mineta whimpered but complied, rapidly plucking the sticky spheres from his head and raining them down into the water around the ship. The villains laughed, easily swimming around the floating purple balls.

"Is that it, hero?!" one shark-headed villain sneered.

Izuku closed his eyes. He didn't need to suppress the beast right now. He needed to unleash it.

He dove off the ship, plunging directly into the center of the villain swarm.

"He's giving himself up! Kill him!" the villains cheered, converging on where Izuku had vanished beneath the surface.

But Izuku didn't sink.

Beneath the water, Izuku's eyes snapped open. They were entirely yellow, the pupils slit. He opened his mouth, but he didn't drown. A set of jagged, spectral gills flared to life on the sides of his neck, filtering the oxygen directly from the water.

The villains closed in, tridents raised.

Izuku unleashed his Quirk.

The water around him violently boiled. From his shoulder blades, two massive, serpentine Hydra heads erupted. They were sleeker here, more hydrodynamic, their scales shifting from emerald green to a deep, abyssal blue to match the environment.

The shark-headed villain froze, his eyes widening in pure terror as the two colossal sea-serpents uncoiled in the murky water, their eyes glowing like underwater flares.

The predators had instantly become the prey.

Izuku didn't use his acid; it would dilute in the water and kill them. Instead, he commanded the right Hydra head to open its jaws. It unleashed a cloud of highly concentrated, black paralytic venom.

The venom hit the water like ink, spreading rapidly. The moment it touched the gills and exposed skin of the villains, their bodies locked up completely. They went rigid, dropping their weapons, unable to swim.

As the paralyzed villains drifted helplessly, the sticky purple spheres Mineta had thrown stuck to them. Izuku commanded the left Hydra head to act as a massive sweep, coiling its long neck around the clumped, sticky mass of villains, violently churning the water. Within seconds, all thirty villains were glued together in a massive, paralyzed ball of bodies, bobbing to the surface.

Izuku exploded out of the water, rocketing into the air with a powerful kick of his legs. He landed heavily on the shoreline just as Tsuyu touched down with Mineta.

Mineta looked at the lake, his jaw dropping. The entire villain ambush squad was dealt with in less than ten seconds.

"You... you're a monster," Mineta whispered, staring at Izuku with a mixture of reverence and absolute dread.

Izuku retracted the heads, ignoring the gnawing hunger that flared in his stomach. He reached into his belt and unsealed a protein bar, downing it in two bites. "We need to get to the plaza. Aizawa is fighting alone."

The three students crept along the edge of the shoreline, peering through the brush at the central plaza.

What they saw froze the blood in their veins.

Aizawa, the untouchable Erasure Hero, was broken. The hulking, bird-brained Nomu had him pinned to the concrete. One of Aizawa's arms was snapped backward at a horrifying angle, and his face was a bloody ruin beneath the monster's grip.

"Sensei..." Tsuyu whispered, her stoic facade cracking.

The pale, hand-covered villain, Shigaraki, scratched his neck violently. "You're cool, Eraserhead. But you're just a man. This is the Anti-Symbol of Peace. Nomu."

As Shigaraki spoke, he turned his head, his scratched eyes locking directly onto the bushes where the students were hiding. "Oh. Some stragglers."

Before they could even blink, Shigaraki crossed the distance. His speed was terrifying. He appeared right in front of Tsuyu, reaching his pale, four-fingered hand toward her face.

"Let's see if this hurts the Symbol of Peace," Shigaraki whispered.

Time seemed to slow down. Izuku saw the hand approaching Tsuyu. He remembered Thirteen's warning. He remembered the feeling of Decay—a Quirk meant only to destroy.

Izuku didn't think. He acted.

With a burst of speed fueled by his hyper-dense leg muscles, Izuku threw himself between Shigaraki and Tsuyu. He thrust his left arm forward, intercepting Shigaraki’s hand.

Shigaraki’s five fingers clamped down on Izuku’s left forearm.

"Quirk... erased?" Shigaraki muttered, looking back at the plaza. Aizawa, despite his broken body, had forced his head up, his red, bloodshot eyes glowing as he locked his gaze onto Shigaraki.

But then, the Nomu slammed Aizawa's head back into the concrete. The red glow faded.

Shigaraki turned back to Izuku, a vile, cracked smile spreading beneath the hand on his face. "Never mind."

The Decay activated.

It was an agony beyond the fire of Bakugo's explosions. Izuku watched in sheer, paralyzed horror as the skin on his left forearm instantly turned gray, cracking like dry earth. The decay spread rapidly, turning his flesh, muscle, and bone to dust. It was creeping up his arm, heading straight for his shoulder, his chest, his heart.

Hyper-Regeneration cannot outpace absolute molecular decay, his tactical mind screamed. If it reaches my torso, I will die.

"Midoriya!" Tsuyu screamed.

Izuku’s eyes went completely, radically yellow. The primal instinct of the Hydra took over—the ultimate survival mechanism. If a limb is poisoned, you remove the limb.

"GAAAH!" Izuku roared.

He didn't pull away. He couldn't. Instead, his right shoulder burst open in a geyser of blood and scales. A massive, heavily armored Hydra head erupted, its jaws unhinging.

With zero hesitation, the Hydra head swung down and clamped its colossal, razor-sharp fangs directly onto Izuku's own decaying left arm, just above the elbow.

With a sickening, violent crunch of bone and tearing flesh, the Hydra head severed Izuku's arm completely.

The amputated, decaying lower half of his arm fell to the ground, crumbling into dust in Shigaraki's grasp.

Shigaraki stumbled back, his eyes widening in profound shock. He had expected the boy to scream, to die. He had not expected the boy to have a pet monster bite his own arm off to stop the spread.

Blood fountained from the clean stump of Izuku's upper bicep. The pain was astronomical, blinding, forcing Izuku to his knees. Mineta was sobbing in sheer terror.

"You... you crazy brat..." Shigaraki whispered, stepping back.

But the Hydra was not finished. It had been mutilated. It was enraged.

The flesh on Izuku's bloody stump began to aggressively boil and bubble, emitting a deafening hiss and a massive cloud of green steam. The cellular division was so rapid it sounded like a chainsaw.

From the severed stump, not a new human arm, but two massive, snarling Hydra heads violently erupted, tearing their way into the world.

"If you cut off one head..." Izuku gasped, his voice layered with the demonic, overlapping hiss of the three beasts now attached to him.

The two new heads lunged forward like battering rams. They slammed directly into Shigaraki's chest with the force of a speeding freight train. The villain coughed up blood, thrown completely across the plaza, skidding to a halt near the fountain.

"Shigaraki!" the misty villain, Kurogiri, yelled, warping to his side.

Izuku stood up. He was pale, sweating profusely. The caloric debt of regenerating two massive appendages from a severed limb was dragging him toward unconsciousness. His vision blurred, but he forced himself to stand in front of Tsuyu and Mineta.

Shigaraki slowly picked himself up, clutching his ribs. He looked at Izuku, his scratchy eyes burning with an intense, psychotic hatred. "Nomu... kill him. Tear that regenerating freak to pieces."

The Nomu released Aizawa's broken body. It slowly turned, locking its dead eyes on Izuku.

It moved with a speed that broke the sound barrier.

One second, the Nomu was at the fountain. The next, it was directly in front of Izuku.

Izuku crossed his three Hydra heads in a defensive guard, but the Nomu's massive, black fist slammed into them with the force of a meteor. The impact shattered the jaw of one of the heads, sending Izuku flying backward, crashing through the simulated treeline and digging a trench in the dirt.

"Midoriya!" Tsuyu cried out.

Izuku rolled onto his back, coughing up blood. The shattered jaw of his Hydra head snapped back into place, the bone re-knitting in a spray of steam, consuming even more of his fading energy.

He has shock absorption, Izuku analyzed frantically. And raw physical strength on par with All Might. I can't pierce him. I can't crush him.

The Nomu leaped into the air, coming down toward Izuku like a missile.

Izuku rolled to the side. The Nomu hit the ground, creating a massive crater. Before the dust could settle, the monster lashed out, its hand piercing straight through the thick, scaly neck of one of Izuku's Hydra heads, tearing a massive hole through it.

Izuku screamed, the pain feeding the beast. The wounded head dissolved, but from the wound, two more heads sprouted, wrapping violently around the Nomu's arm, sinking their fangs into its exposed muscles, pumping paralytic venom.

The Nomu didn't even flinch. It possessed its own form of hyper-regeneration. The venom was filtered out almost instantly. The monster grabbed the two new heads and crushed them in its massive grip, popping them like balloons.

"He's destroying you!" Shigaraki laughed, scratching his neck. "Your regeneration is fast, but Nomu is built to take 100% of All Might's power! You're just a battery running out of juice!"

Izuku was dying. He knew it. He had five Hydra heads manifested now—two from his left stump, one from his right shoulder, two from his back. He was a terrifying, multi-headed behemoth of scales and fangs, but he was starving. His muscles were eating themselves to fuel the healing. If he took one more lethal hit, there wouldn't be enough bio-mass left to regenerate.

I can't beat him, Izuku thought, his yellow eyes locked onto the Nomu. But I don't have to beat him. I just have to stall him.

Izuku let out a deafening, unified roar from all five heads. He charged directly at the Nomu.

The Nomu reeled back its fist and threw a devastating punch aimed right at Izuku's chest.

Izuku didn't dodge. He didn't block. He stepped into the punch.

The Nomu's fist slammed into Izuku's sternum. The sound of ribs shattering echoed across the plaza. The monster's arm punched a clean hole right through Izuku's left lung, exiting out his back.

Tsuyu screamed, covering Mineta's eyes.

Shigaraki grinned. "Game over."

But Izuku didn't fall.

Despite the monstrous fist lodged entirely through his chest, Izuku looked up. His human face was pale as death, blood pouring from his mouth, but his eyes burned with an indomitable, terrifying resolve.

"Got you," Izuku whispered.

He triggered his hyper-regeneration, not to push the arm out, but to heal around it. The muscle and bone of his chest violently rapidly constricted, knitting itself into an impossibly tight biological vice grip directly onto the Nomu's forearm. The Nomu tugged, but it was anchored inside Izuku's body.

With the monster immobilized, Izuku unleashed his endgame.

All five massive Hydra heads darted forward, completely ignoring the Nomu's head and torso. Instead, they wrapped themselves around the Nomu's remaining arm and both of its legs. They coiled like anacondas, their dense muscle fibers tightening with the force of industrial hydraulic presses. The fangs sank deep into the concrete of the plaza, acting as massive organic ground anchors.

Izuku had turned his own body into a living, regenerating chain, locking the Nomu in place.

The Nomu thrashed wildly, its immense strength ripping and tearing at Izuku's internal organs, but the Hydra just kept healing, constantly repairing the damage, holding the beast in a bloody, agonizing stalemate.

"Tear him apart!" Shigaraki shrieked, panicking at the sight of his ultimate weapon immobilized by a single student. "Rip him in half!"

The Nomu roared, pulling with all its might. Izuku's flesh tore, his bones groaned, his vision went entirely black. He was running on fumes, a few seconds away from total biological collapse.

All Might... Izuku prayed in the darkness. Hurry...

BAM.

The massive metal doors of the U.S.J. were blown completely off their hinges.

A hulking silhouette stood in the dust, no smile on his face. He wore his yellow pinstriped suit, his blue eyes radiating an aura of absolute fury.

"IT IS FINE NOW," All Might's voice boomed, devoid of its usual cheer, replaced by the terrifying wrath of the Symbol of Peace. "I AM HERE."

In a blur of speed too fast for the human eye to track, All Might descended the stairs. He grabbed Aizawa, scooping up Tsuyu and Mineta, and placed them safely away.

Then, he turned to the center of the plaza.

All Might's breath caught in his throat.

There was his successor. Izuku Midoriya was impaled on the Nomu's arm, bathed in his own blood, five massive serpentine heads anchoring the beast to the ground. The boy was barely conscious, locked in a gruesome, agonizing embrace of sheer heroic willpower.

"Young Midoriya..." All Might whispered, a profound sense of pride and horror warring in his chest.

"All... Might..." Izuku choked out, his grip slightly loosening.

"Release him, my boy. You have done more than enough."

Izuku commanded his Quirk one last time. The biological vice in his chest unspooled, and the five massive heads dissolved into a cloud of green ash.

Izuku collapsed backward into a pool of his own blood, leaving a massive, gaping hole in his chest. But the Hydra wasn't done. With the last dregs of his caloric reserves, his body violently repaired the organ damage, knitting his ribs and skin back together, leaving him whole, but completely, utterly incapacitated.

Freed from its restraints, the Nomu swung at All Might.

What followed was not a fight; it was an execution of power. All Might met the Nomu blow for blow, his fists moving faster than sound.

"If your Quirk is shock absorption, I'll just have to hit you with more than you can absorb!" All Might roared, pushing past his own limits.

With a final, earth-shattering "PLUS ULTRA!", All Might delivered a punch that defied physics, launching the Nomu into the stratosphere, blasting it completely through the reinforced dome of the U.S.J.

Silence fell over the ruined plaza.

Shigaraki, realizing his monster was gone and his forces depleted, ordered Kurogiri to warp them away just as the remaining U.A. teachers, including Snipe and Cementoss, burst through the doors.

The villains were defeated.

In the aftermath, the students of Class 1-A were gathered near the entrance, battered, bruised, but alive.

Izuku lay on his back near the fountain. He was naked from the waist up, his uniform completely shredded. His skin was pale, covered in a sheen of sweat and drying blood. He was shivering, his stomach hollow, his body aching in ways he couldn't describe.

He heard footsteps approaching.

He squeezed his eyes shut. This is it, he thought. They saw it. They saw the monster. I let it out. I bit my own arm off. I let it punch a hole in me. They’re going to be terrified. They’re going to hate me.

"Midoriya!"

It was Kirishima's voice.

Izuku braced himself for the apprehension, for the fear.

Suddenly, a warm, heavy jacket was draped over him. He opened his eyes. Kirishima was kneeling next to him, having taken off his own hero costume jacket. The redhead's eyes were wide, but not with fear. They were filled with absolute, overwhelming awe.

"You... you are the manliest guy I have ever met," Kirishima said, his voice trembling slightly. "You took a hit meant to kill a pro hero. You held that thing down."

"He was amazing," Tsuyu croaked, walking up alongside Uraraka, who was crying out of sheer relief. "He saved me. He saved Mineta. He sacrificed his own arm to stop that villain's Quirk."

"You're a madman, Deku!" Uraraka sobbed, dropping to her knees and hugging him tightly, completely ignoring the blood. "Don't ever do something that reckless again!"

More students gathered around. Iida, Momo, Kaminari, Sato. They weren't looking at him like a villain. They were looking at him like a savior. Like a shield.

Even Todoroki, standing near the back, was staring at Izuku with a complex expression of respect and deep curiosity.

Izuku looked up at their faces. The fear of being a monster, the isolation he had carried for ten years, began to crack and splinter under the weight of their genuine gratitude.

He didn't just have an evil Quirk. He had a power that could take the pain so others didn't have to.

A shadow fell over him. All Might stood there, steaming slightly as his time limit approached, but his smile was radiant. He gave Izuku a small, subtle nod.

You tamed the beast, Young Midoriya, All Might's eyes seemed to say. You are a hero.

Izuku let his head fall back against the concrete, a weak, exhausted smile crossing his face. "Hey, Kirishima?"

"Yeah, man?"

"Do you happen to have a protein bar?" Izuku whispered. "I'm... really hungry."

The class laughed, a sound of pure relief echoing through the ruined dome. The Immortal Hero had survived his first true trial by fire, forged not in destruction, but in the unbreakable coil of his own self-sacrifice.
