What If Deku Had an Overpowered Spinosaurus Quirk for Aquatic Combat

The human body is an incredibly fragile thing.

For the first four years of his life, Izuku Midoriya understood this intimately. He was smaller than the other boys in his neighborhood, prone to scraping his knees, and possessed a quiet, stuttering demeanor that made him an easy target for those louder and braver than him. He lived in a world where humanity had evolved past the mundane, where four out of five people possessed a supernatural ability known as a "Quirk." Men could breathe fire, women could manipulate gravity, and children could lift cars over their heads.

Yet, Izuku was just Izuku. Fragile. Soft. Quirkless.

Until the day the river swallowed him.

It was mid-July, the kind of oppressive, suffocating summer day in Musutafu where the air shimmered with heat above the asphalt. The cicadas screamed in the dense foliage bordering the Shizuoka prefecture's winding riverways. Izuku, four years old and wearing a bright yellow All Might t-shirt, was trailing behind Katsuki Bakugo.

Katsuki was everything Izuku was not: loud, fearless, and already blessed with a phenomenal Quirk. Miniature explosions popped like firecrackers in Katsuki’s palms as he balanced precariously on a moss-slicked log suspended over the roaring rapids of the Kanda River. Recent heavy rains had turned the usually docile stream into a furious, churning monster of white water and jagged rocks.

"Keep up, Izuku!" Katsuki shouted over his shoulder, a feral, confident grin stretching across his face. "If you fall behind, the villains'll get you! A hero doesn't hesitate!"

"K-Kacchan, be careful!" Izuku squeaked from the muddy bank, his small hands wringing the hem of his shirt. "The water is really fast today! My mom said we shouldn't play near the rapids!"

"Auntie Inko worries too much," Katsuki scoffed, taking another arrogant step onto the rotting wood. "I'm not gonna—"

CRACK.

The sound was sharp, echoing over the roar of the water. The wood beneath Katsuki’s foot gave way, splintering under his weight. Izuku watched, his heart leaping into his throat, as the confident grin vanished from Katsuki’s face, replaced by wide-eyed terror.

Katsuki plummeted. He hit the freezing, violent water with a heavy splash and was instantly pulled under.

"Kacchan!" Izuku screamed.

He didn't think. The fragility of his four-year-old body, the danger of the rapids, the sheer impossibility of what he was doing—none of it mattered. Izuku’s legs moved on their own. He threw himself down the muddy embankment and plunged headfirst into the freezing, turbulent river.

The moment he hit the water, the world became a chaotic nightmare of bubbles, churning debris, and freezing temperatures. Izuku was thrown against a smooth boulder, the breath knocked from his tiny lungs. He opened his eyes, the stinging river water blurring his vision, and searched frantically. Ten yards ahead, a flash of ash-blonde hair bobbed to the surface before being dragged down again by a violent undertow. Katsuki was drowning.

Izuku reached out, his tiny, weak arm fighting against the immense pressure of the current. I have to save him. I have to save him!

It was then that something deep within Izuku Midoriya snapped.

It didn't feel like a spark. It felt like an earthquake. A sudden, agonizing heat erupted in the center of his chest, radiating outward through his veins. His blood felt like it was boiling, turning to molten lead. The cold of the river vanished, replaced by an overwhelming, suffocating pressure as his very DNA began to violently rewrite itself.

His bones cracked. Not breaking, but expanding, multiplying in density, shifting in structure. Izuku opened his mouth to scream, but the water rushing into his throat didn't choke him. Instead, a secondary set of valves in his throat clamped shut, while newly formed, microscopic slits behind his ears flared open.

What's happening?

His vision shifted. The murky, chaotic brown water suddenly became crystal clear. His eyes, now possessing a nictitating membrane, darted around. He could see Katsuki perfectly. More than see—he could feel him. Pits along the front of his face tingled, picking up the frantic, irregular displacement of water caused by Katsuki’s thrashing.

Izuku’s limbs stretched, tearing through his yellow All Might shirt and denim shorts. His soft, peach skin erupted in thick, diamond-hard scales the color of deep ocean cerulean and midnight blue. His spine arched in agony as massive, bony spines tore through the skin of his back, webbing together with thick, vascular tissue to form a colossal dorsal sail. His legs thickened into tree trunks, his feet sprouting immense, webbed talons. His face elongated, his jaw snapping forward with the horrifying crack of shifting cartilage, filling with dozens of conical, serrated teeth.

Izuku Midoriya was no longer a fragile four-year-old boy.

He was a monster from a forgotten age.

With a powerful thrust of legs that now possessed the strength of hydraulic presses, Izuku surged forward. He didn't swim; he dominated the water. His massive, crocodilian tail whipped behind him, acting as a paddle that propelled his enormous bulk through the rapids with terrifying grace and speed.

Katsuki was fading, his lungs burning, his explosions sputtering uselessly underwater. Just as his eyes began to roll back, a massive shadow eclipsed the ambient light of the river surface above.

Katsuki’s hazy vision registered a colossal, terrifying maw. Rows of razor-sharp teeth opened wide. He thought he was dead. He thought a river demon had come to eat him.

Instead, the massive jaws clamped down on the collar of Katsuki’s shirt with pinpoint, delicate precision.

Izuku burst from the water, sending a geyser of white foam high into the summer air. His massive, fifty-foot frame breached the surface, water cascading off his cerulean scales and his six-foot-tall dorsal sail. He hit the muddy riverbank with a ground-shaking THUD, his immense claws sinking deep into the earth.

He gently lowered his head and dropped Katsuki onto the soft grass.

Katsuki lay there, coughing up river water, gasping for air. When he finally caught his breath, he looked up, his crimson eyes wide with absolute, primal terror.

Looming over him was a leviathan. A beast out of prehistoric nightmares. The semi-aquatic apex predator of the Cretaceous period—a Spinosaurus. But it wasn't just a dinosaur. It was armored, its scales shimmering with a metallic sheen, its eyes burning with a deep, emerald green light. It let out a low, rumbling growl that vibrated the very air in Katsuki’s chest.

Katsuki scrambled backward, scrambling through the mud, tears of sheer panic streaming down his face. "G-Get away! Get away from me!"

The massive beast flinched. The emerald eyes blinked. The terrifying creature lowered its elongated snout to the dirt, letting out a soft, whimpering sound that was entirely at odds with its nightmarish appearance.

Then, steam began to rise from the beast's body. The colossal form began to shrink, folding in on itself, the scales receding, the bones snapping back into human proportions. Within seconds, curled up naked and shivering in the mud, was four-year-old Izuku Midoriya.

"K-Kacchan..." Izuku coughed, looking up at his friend with wide, terrified eyes. "Are... are you okay?"

Katsuki stared at the frail boy, then at the massive footprints pressed deep into the muddy riverbank. He didn't say a word. He couldn't. The boy he had planned to call Deku—the useless one—had just become the most terrifying thing he had ever seen.

Ten Years Later.

Society is not kind to monsters.

The Quirk Registry Office in Musutafu had classified Izuku Midoriya’s power as a Transformation-Class Quirk, officially naming it Spino-Leviathan. On paper, it sounded heroic. In practice, society viewed it as anything but.

As Izuku grew, he quickly learned the harsh reality of living with an overpowering, monstrous Quirk. Hero society adored flashy, clean powers. Fire, ice, super-speed, wind generation—these were the abilities of saviors. Transformation Quirks that turned you into horrifying, fifty-foot reptilian apex predators were the Quirks of villains. The Quirks of Kaiju that Pro-Heroes were paid to defeat.

Izuku sat at his desk in Aldera Junior High, a fourteen-year-old boy with a messy mop of green hair and a physique that was entirely disproportionate to his peers. Because of the nature of his Quirk, his baseline human form had adapted to handle the strain of transformation. He was dense. At five-foot-five, he weighed over two hundred pounds, not an ounce of it fat. His bones were incredibly thick to counteract buoyancy in the water, a biological imperative of the Spinosaurus. When he accidentally bumped into a desk, the desk shattered. When he ran, he left indentations in the linoleum floors.

He was constantly hungry, requiring massive amounts of protein to maintain the caloric deficit his Quirk demanded. His mother, Inko, practically worked overtime just to keep their fridge stocked with fish.

"Midoriya," the teacher’s voice droned, cutting through Izuku's thoughts. "Since you’re aiming for U.A. High School, you'll need to make sure your... collateral damage scores in the practical exams don't disqualify you."

A few students snickered. Izuku kept his head down, staring at his notebook titled Hero Analysis for the Future No. 13.

"Good luck, Zilla," a boy with an elongated neck whispered from across the aisle. "Try not to eat the examiner."

Izuku sighed, his shoulders slumping. He was used to the comments. He was a gentle giant, possessing a heart full of empathy and a desperate desire to save people with a smile, just like his idol, All Might. But how could he smile when his true face possessed eighty serrated teeth and a bite force capable of snapping a city bus in half?

Suddenly, a loud SLAM echoed through the classroom. Katsuki Bakugo had kicked his desk forward.

"Shut up, extras!" Katsuki barked, his crimson eyes glaring at the whispering students. The class fell dead silent. Katsuki then turned his gaze to Izuku. "Don't get cocky just because you're applying to U.A., Lizard. I'm still gonna be the only one from this garbage school to make it into the Hero Course. Your oversized freak-show Quirk is useless in a city. You're just a big, dumb target on land!"

Izuku offered a small, awkward smile. "I know, Kacchan. But I have to try."

Their dynamic was strange. In another universe, Katsuki might have ruthlessly bullied a Quirkless Izuku, labeling him 'Deku' and making his life a living hell. But the events at the river ten years ago had fundamentally altered Katsuki’s worldview. He couldn't call Izuku useless. He had seen the raw, unadulterated power of the Leviathan. Katsuki’s pride wouldn't allow him to be afraid, so instead, he treated Izuku as his only legitimate rival in the entire school. He was aggressive, rude, and fiercely competitive, but he never crossed the line into physical bullying. Because Katsuki knew, deep down, that if Izuku ever truly lost his temper, there wouldn't be enough of Katsuki left to fill a matchbox.

When the final bell rang, Izuku packed his bag and left the school. He didn't walk home through the city streets. Instead, he took the long route, the one that ran parallel to the coastline.

He needed to train. He needed to master the beast.

Arriving at Dagobah Municipal Beach, Izuku looked out over the ocean. The beach was currently a massive illegal dumping ground, littered with rusted refrigerators, crushed cars, and broken appliances.

Izuku set his yellow backpack on the sea wall and kicked off his red sneakers. He stripped down to his gym shorts. He didn't bother with a shirt.

He closed his eyes and breathed in the salty sea air.

Partial Manifestation: Appendages.

Heat flared in his forearms and calves. Izuku grit his teeth as the transformation took hold. This was his compromise. Over the last ten years, he had realized that turning into a massive, fifty-foot dinosaur in the middle of a populated city was a recipe for disaster. So, he had spent years practicing partial shifts.

His skin bubbled and tore, replaced instantly by interlocking cerulean scales. His arms thickened, his fingers elongating into wicked, black talons capable of tearing through steel. His legs shifted, adopting a digitigrade, dinosaurian structure that boosted his running speed tremendously. Lastly, with a sickening crunch of bone, a ten-foot-long, muscular, paddle-like tail burst from his lower spine, hitting the sand with a heavy thud.

Izuku opened his eyes, now glowing a feral emerald green, the pupils slitted like a reptile's.

He approached a rusted, abandoned pickup truck half-buried in the sand. He dug his talons into the metal undercarriage. His dinosaurian legs braced against the sand. With a grunt of exertion, he heaved. The truck groaned, metal screeching, before Izuku effortlessly hoisted the two-ton vehicle over his head and hurled it ten yards away.

"Not enough," Izuku muttered, his voice dropping an octave, taking on a gravelly, resonant tone due to his shifting vocal cords.

The problem wasn't strength. The problem was his anatomy. A Spinosaurus was designed for the water. On land, his full transformation was incredibly front-heavy, slow, and clumsy. His colossal tail and dense bones dragged him down. Furthermore, his massive dorsal sail, which acted as a thermoregulator, made him highly susceptible to extreme heat or cold if he couldn't access water to balance his body temperature.

He looked out at the rolling waves of the ocean.

If I want to be a hero, I have to be the undisputed master of my element.

Izuku ran toward the surf. As his feet hit the water, he let go of all restraint.

The heat exploded through his entire body. The transformation was instantaneous, violent, and awe-inspiring. His body swelled, bones cracking and reshaping as he dove into the waves. By the time he was entirely submerged, he was no longer human.

Beneath the waves, the River Tyrant opened its eyes.

Here, in the deep water, Izuku was a god. The crushing weight of gravity vanished, replaced by the perfect buoyancy of his dense skeletal structure. He swept his massive paddle-tail side to side, propelling his fifty-foot, multi-ton body through the ocean with the speed of a torpedo. His sensory pits flared, painting a perfect, three-dimensional sonar map of the waters around him. He could feel the movement of a school of fish half a mile away. He could feel the shifting currents of the tide.

He breached the surface for air, his massive jaws snapping open, letting out a deafening, prehistoric roar that scattered a flock of seagulls overhead.

For the next three hours, he swam. He pushed his stamina to the absolute limit, fighting against the strongest undertows he could find, hunting sharks and tuna for the sheer caloric intake he needed, before regurgitating the bones into the deep. He was an apex predator, perfectly evolved, virtually indestructible.

But as the sun began to set, painting the sky in strokes of bruised purple and fiery orange, Izuku returned to the shallows. He reverted to his human form, collapsing onto the sandy beach, exhausted, shivering, and heavy.

"The Entrance Exam is in two days," Izuku whispered to himself, staring at his human hands. "And it's in a mock city. Dry land."

He clenched his fists. He would just have to rely on his partial shifts. He couldn't afford to unleash the full Leviathan in a city environment, not without causing immense collateral damage.

The U.A. Entrance Exam.

The sheer scale of U.A. High School was intimidating. Izuku stood before the massive H-shaped glass building, wearing his middle school uniform, his heavy backpack slung over one shoulder.

"Out of my way, Lizard!"

Katsuki barged past him, intentionally bumping his shoulder. Izuku didn't budge—his dense bone structure made him about as movable as a brick wall—but Katsuki kept walking, an arrogant swagger in his step.

"Good luck, Kacchan," Izuku called out. Katsuki merely flipped him off over his shoulder.

Izuku sighed and began walking toward the auditorium for the orientation. As he stepped forward, a stray piece of loose pavement caught the toe of his sneaker. With his immense body weight, tripping was a disaster. He pitched forward, bracing himself to crack the concrete with his face.

Suddenly, a light tap on his shoulder sent a strange sensation through him. Gravity vanished. He was floating in mid-air.

"Are you okay?" a bright, cheerful voice asked.

Izuku flailed his arms wildly, panicked by the sudden loss of weight. He scrambled mid-air, instinct taking over. With a wet shluck, his heavy, scaled tail burst from his lower back, swinging downward to anchor himself. The heavy tail slammed into the pavement, shattering a tile, but allowed Izuku to right himself and stand vertically in the air.

He looked over his shoulder. A girl with a round face, rosy cheeks, and auburn bobbed hair was standing there, her hands clasped together, looking at his tail with wide eyes.

"Whoa!" she gasped. "You have a dinosaur tail! That is so cool!"

Izuku blushed furiously. He immediately retracted the tail, the scales dissolving back into his skin, his uniform pants thankfully having been tailored by his mother with a special, stretchable tear-away flap in the back for this exact reason. "Ah! I'm s-sorry! Yes, it's—it's part of my Quirk. Thank you for catching me! I'm super heavy, so if I fell, I would have broken the pavement!"

"Release!" the girl said, pressing her fingertips together. Izuku dropped the final two inches to the ground, his weight returning in full. "I'm Ochaco Uraraka. It's nice to meet you! A heavy Quirk, huh? My Quirk is Zero Gravity. I guess we're opposites!"

"I'm I-Izuku Midoriya," he stammered, entirely unused to talking to girls. "G-Good luck on the exam, Uraraka!"

He practically sprinted away, his heart hammering against his ribs. I talked to a girl! I actually talked to a girl!

The written exam passed in a blur of complex mathematics and hero law. Izuku felt confident in his answers; he had spent his life analyzing Quirks and hero tactics, giving him a sharp, tactical mind. But the real test was the practical exam.

Izuku found himself standing before the massive gates of Battle Center B. The Pro Hero Present Mic had explained the rules: destroy faux villains (robots) to earn points. One-pointers, two-pointers, three-pointers, and a massive Zero Pointer obstacle to avoid.

Izuku looked past the gates. It was a sprawling, hyper-realistic cityscape. Tall buildings, asphalt roads, tight alleyways.

His heart sank.

Not a drop of water anywhere, Izuku thought, swallowing hard. It's a concrete desert. The absolute worst environment for me.

Around him, other examinees were stretching and warming up. He saw the strict boy with the engines in his calves, Iida, doing aggressive squats. He saw Uraraka taking deep breaths.

"RIGHT, LET'S START!" Present Mic's voice blasted from hidden speakers. "THERE ARE NO COUNTDOWNS IN REAL BATTLES! RUN, RUN, RUN!"

The doors groaned open. The examinees surged forward like a tidal wave.

Izuku took a deep breath. Partial Manifestation: Theropod Stance.

His legs snapped, shifting into the reverse-jointed, muscular structure of a bipedal dinosaur. His tail extended behind him for counterbalance. His forearms coated in armor, his claws extending. He kicked off the ground, the concrete spider-webbing beneath his immense leg strength. He launched himself into the city, moving with a fast, bounding, ostrich-like gait.

A green, one-point robot rounded a corner, its optical sensors locking onto him. "Target acquired."

Izuku didn't slow down. He pivoted on his right leg, using his momentum to swing his heavy, ten-foot tail like a baseball bat.

CRASH.

The massive paddle-tail slammed into the side of the robot, caving in its metallic armor. The sheer concussive force sent the machine flying into a brick wall, where it exploded into a shower of sparks.

One point.

Izuku kept moving, bounding down an alleyway. Two three-pointers dropped from a rooftop, blocking his path.

My jaws are my strongest weapon, but I can't bite metal without risking my teeth in human form, Izuku analyzed rapidly. I have to rely on blunt force.

He lunged forward, swiping his clawed hands. His talons sparked against the metal armor of the first robot, tearing deep gouges into its chassis, severing its internal wiring. He ducked under a mechanical punch from the second robot, planted his hands on the ground, and delivered a devastating, double-legged mule kick to its chest, crushing its power core.

Seven points.

For the next ten minutes, Izuku fought a grueling battle of attrition. Every time he used his partial transformations, he was carrying the immense weight and density of a semi-aquatic creature on dry land. Without the buoyancy of water to support his muscular and skeletal structure, his stamina drained rapidly. He was sweating profusely, panting heavy, ragged breaths.

He managed to scrape together thirty-five points. It wasn't the top of the leaderboard, but it was respectable.

Just a few more, Izuku thought, leaning heavily against a lamppost, his dinosaurian legs trembling with fatigue. I just need a few more to be safe...

Suddenly, the ground began to shake.

It wasn't a mild tremor. It was a localized earthquake. The windows of the surrounding buildings shattered. A colossal shadow fell over the street, blocking out the artificial sunlight of the testing center.

Izuku looked up, his slitted, emerald eyes widening in horror.

Rising from the center of the mock city, dwarfing the buildings around it, was the Zero Pointer. It was a gargantuan, militarized behemoth on tank treads, easily the size of a skyscraper.

"LESS THAN TWO MINUTES REMAINING!" Present Mic announced.

Panic erupted in the streets. Examinees abandoned their fights, turning and sprinting away from the colossal machine. "Run!" someone screamed. "It's the Zero Pointer! There's no way we can fight that!"

Izuku retracted his dinosaur legs, returning to his human form to alleviate the stamina drain. He turned to run, following the crowd. There was no point in fighting an obstacle worth zero points.

"Ow! S-Somebody, please!"

Izuku stopped dead in his tracks. His hyper-sensitive hearing, adapted to pick up the faintest sound of a struggling fish underwater, zeroed in on a cry for help. He spun around.

Half a block away, near the approaching treads of the colossal Zero Pointer, was Uraraka. A massive chunk of debris from a shattered building had fallen, pinning her right leg to the pavement. She was desperately trying to use her Zero Gravity on the rubble, but she had reached her limit, dry-heaving and exhausted.

The Zero Pointer’s massive tread raised, preparing to crush the street—and her—into dust.

No one else was stopping. Iida was running. The others were running.

Izuku’s mind went blank.

She's going to die.

Every rational thought—the fear of collateral damage, the knowledge that this environment was his absolute weakness, the desire to blend in and be a 'normal' hero—evaporated. The frail, stuttering boy vanished.

In his place stood the Apex.

Izuku Midoriya stopped running away. He turned to face the mechanical titan. He took a deep breath, filling his lungs to capacity, and surrendered completely to the monster within.

The transformation was explosive.

A shockwave of displaced air blasted outward as Izuku’s body rapidly expanded. His clothes ripped to shreds. The sound of shifting bones and tearing tissue was sickeningly loud, echoing down the street. His skin erupted into a fortress of thick, metallic-blue scales. His spine arched violently as the colossal, vascular dorsal sail burst from his back, towering high into the air, radiating a localized wave of intense heat. His legs thickened into massive, armored pillars. His jaw elongated outward, snapping and crunching until it formed a six-foot-long, crocodilian maw lined with conical teeth the size of daggers.

In less than three seconds, the boy was gone. Standing in the middle of the street was a fifty-foot-tall, multi-ton Spinosaurus.

The remaining examinees, those who looked back, froze in absolute, primal terror. They had been running from a robot. Now, they were staring at a Kaiju.

Inside the observation room, U.A.’s faculty watched the monitors in stunned silence.

"Good heavens," the principal, a small white animal named Nezu, whispered, sipping his tea.

A scruffy, tired-looking man wrapped in a capture scarf leaned forward, his dark eyes narrowing. "A full-scale theropod transformation. Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus. He's massive. But what is he doing? He's a semi-aquatic predator. On land, supporting that kind of mass against gravity... his joints will tear themselves apart."

"Watch," a skeletal, blonde man whispered from the back of the room. All Might's blue eyes were fixed on the screen, a wide grin spreading across his face. "Watch the boy."

Back in Ground Beta, Izuku roared. It was a guttural, terrifying sound that vibrated the glass in the remaining windows and rattled the teeth of everyone present. It wasn't the roar of a mammal; it was a deep, resonating hum mixed with a high-pitched hiss, the sound of a predator challenging a rival.

He didn't have the speed he possessed in the water. He didn't have the maneuverability. But what he did have was physics. He had mass. He had density.

Izuku dropped onto all fours, his massive front claws tearing into the asphalt. He dug his hind legs in, entirely destroying the street beneath him. He was front-heavy, awkward, and dragging on the dry land.

I can't run. But I can leap.

He funneled every ounce of his monstrous strength into his hind legs. The muscles, thick as tree trunks, coiled like springs.

Spino-Leviathan: APEX BREACH!

With an explosive release of power, Izuku launched his fifty-foot, multi-ton body off the ground. The entire city block shattered beneath the force of his jump. He flew through the air, defying gravity for a few terrifying seconds, his massive shadow casting over the face of the Zero Pointer.

The robot’s optical sensors flared red. "Obstacle detected."

The robot drew back a massive, building-sized fist and threw a punch.

Mid-air, Izuku twisted his massive torso. He wasn't aiming for the head. He was aiming for the joints. Using the heavy weight of his massive front half as a fulcrum, he whipped his colossal, armored tail forward with the speed and force of a falling meteor.

The collision was deafening.

Izuku’s tail struck the elbow joint of the Zero Pointer's extended arm. The sheer kinetic energy of a multi-ton, dense-bone paddle striking at high velocity was catastrophic. The robot’s arm buckled, metal screaming and tearing before completely snapping off at the joint.

But Izuku wasn't done. Gravity took hold, pulling his massive bulk downward. He opened his terrifying jaws and clamped down on the robot's remaining arm as he fell. His conical teeth, designed to pierce and hold slippery, giant prehistoric fish, effortlessly pierced the thick steel plating of the robot.

With a brutal twist of his neck—a localized death roll—Izuku tore the robot's arm from its socket, sending the colossal machine completely off balance.

The Zero Pointer tipped backward, its internal alarms blaring, before crashing down into the cityscape in a massive explosion of fire, smoke, and shattered concrete.

Izuku hit the ground hard. Too hard. Without water to break his fall, his dense body took the full brunt of the impact. He rolled down the street, tearing up asphalt and crushing abandoned cars, before finally sliding to a halt just a few yards away from where Uraraka lay pinned under the rubble.

Silence descended on the testing center, save for the crackle of flames from the destroyed robot.

Uraraka stared up, her breath hitching in her throat. Looming over her, bleeding heavily from scrapes along its cerulean scales, was the terrifying face of the Leviathan. The massive green, slitted eye looked down at her.

Uraraka braced herself, closing her eyes tight.

Slowly, delicately, the massive beast reached out with one colossal, clawed hand. The tip of a single talon, sharp enough to slice through steel, gently hooked under the massive concrete slab pinning her leg. With a soft grunt, the beast lifted the rock, tossing it aside as if it were made of cardboard.

Then, the monster let out a soft, exhausted puff of steam from its nostrils. It collapsed onto its side, the earth trembling as it fell.

Steam rapidly enveloped the massive form. The scales hissed, dissolving back into skin. The massive sail retracted, the bones shrinking and snapping back into place.

When the steam cleared, Izuku Midoriya lay naked, bruised, and unconscious in the center of the devastated street.

"TIME'S UP!" Present Mic's voice echoed across the city.

Uraraka dragged herself forward, ignoring the pain in her leg. She reached Izuku’s side, taking off her jacket to drape over him. She looked at the frail, bleeding boy, then back at the smoldering wreckage of the colossal robot he had just dismantled bare-handed.

"You..." she whispered, awe coloring her voice. "You saved me."

One Week Later.

Izuku sat in his bedroom, staring blankly at his All Might posters. His arms were wrapped in bandages. He had spent three days in bed, his body agonizingly sore from the strain of using his full transformation on dry land. Recovery Girl had healed his superficial wounds, but she had warned him severely: “Your bones are dense, boy, but your joints are not indestructible. Transforming fully without aquatic support again will tear your ligaments to shreds. You are a creature of the deep. Stop trying to fly.”

He had scored thirty-five villain points. He hadn't gained a single point from the Zero Pointer. Historically, thirty-five points was rarely enough to enter the Hero Course.

He had failed. He had let the beast out, destroyed half a city block, injured himself, and failed.

"Izuku!" Inko called from the hallway, her voice frantic. "Izuku, it's here! The letter from U.A.!"

Izuku walked to the kitchen, his heart heavy. He took the envelope from his mother. It was thick.

He retreated back to his room, sitting at his desk. He tore the seal open. A small metal disc fell onto his desk.

A holographic projection suddenly hummed to life.

"I AM HERE AS A PROJECTION!" All Might’s booming voice filled the room. The Number One Hero was wearing a yellow suit, pointing directly at the camera.

Izuku gasped, falling back into his chair. "All Might?!"

"Greetings, Young Midoriya!" All Might boomed. "You must be wondering why I am here on this tape! Well, I have recently joined the faculty at U.A. High School!"

Izuku’s eyes widened. All Might? A teacher?

"You did passably well on your written exam," All Might continued, his tone turning serious. "But your practical score... thirty-five villain points. A solid effort, but alas, slightly below the cutoff for the Hero Course."

Izuku lowered his head. He knew it.

"HOWEVER!" All Might shouted, pressing a button on a remote. The screen shifted to show footage from Ground Beta. It was the moment Izuku threw himself at the Zero Pointer.

"A Hero Course that only evaluates combat is a flawed institution," All Might said softly. "Look at this video, Young Midoriya. You threw away your points, your safety, and unleashed your full, terrifying power in an environment you knew was detrimental to you, all to save one person."

The video shifted again, showing Uraraka entering the faculty office, speaking to Present Mic. "Please," she was saying, "that boy with the dinosaur Quirk... he saved me. Can I give him some of my points? He sacrificed everything for me!"

Izuku felt tears prick the corners of his eyes. She had tried to give him her points.

"You see, Young Midoriya," All Might smiled warmly. "How can a Hero Course reject someone who saves others and inspires them to do the same? That is the essence of a true hero! Izuku Midoriya! Sixty Rescue Points!"

The leaderboard appeared on the screen.

Izuku Midoriya: 35 Villain Points. 60 Rescue Points. Total: 95 Points. First Place.

Izuku stared at the screen, the tears finally spilling over, trailing down his scarred cheeks.

"Come, Young Midoriya," All Might said, holding out a hand toward the camera. "This is your Hero Academia!"

In the dark, quiet faculty lounge of U.A., Shota Aizawa watched the replay of Izuku Midoriya's exam on his tablet. He watched the massive Spinosaurus tear the robot's arm off. He watched the sheer, unadulterated power of an apex predator.

"He's strong," Aizawa muttered to himself, his eyes narrowing. "But he's a hammer treating every problem like a nail. He relies entirely on brute force and mass. Put him in a tight, enclosed space, or a desert environment, and he's a massive, slow target. He lacks control. He lacks versatility."

Aizawa turned off the tablet, the screen going black.

"Welcome to Class 1-A, Midoriya," Aizawa whispered into the dark room. "Let's see if we can teach a sea monster how to walk on land."

To say that Class 1-A of U.A. High School was intimidated by Izuku Midoriya would be an understatement.

By the end of the first week of classes, a strange dichotomy had formed around the boy who sat in the back row. U.A. had specially designed Izuku’s desk to accommodate his heavily dense, two-hundred-plus-pound frame. The chair was reinforced with titanium alloy, and the desk itself was bolted to the floor.

The students had all seen the rumors on the internet, or caught glimpses of the Entrance Exam footage that had leaked online. They knew that the shy, messy-haired boy who perpetually mumbled to himself and frantically scribbled in a charred notebook was the same person who had turned into a fifty-foot prehistoric leviathan and dismantled a skyscraper-sized robot with his bare hands.

It was a jarring contradiction.

"Midoriya, you dropped your eraser," Momo Yaoyorozu said politely one afternoon, leaning over from her desk.

"A-Ah! Thank you, Yaoyorozu!" Izuku stammered, his face turning the color of a ripe tomato. In his haste to retrieve the eraser, his elbow clipped the edge of his titanium desk. The sound was like a sledgehammer hitting an anvil. The desk didn't break, but the floorboards beneath it groaned under the kinetic transfer.

Denki Kaminari, sitting a few rows up, leaned over to Eijiro Kirishima and whispered loudly, "Dude, I swear, if he sneezes too hard, he's going to accidentally knock down the school. It’s like hanging out with Godzilla in his human disguise."

"Are you kidding? It's so manly!" Kirishima grinned, clenching his fist. "To have a transformation Quirk that powerful? He’s an absolute powerhouse!"

Through it all, Katsuki Bakugo remained uncharacteristically quiet. Whenever the topic of Izuku’s Quirk came up, Katsuki would merely scowl, kick his feet up on his desk, and look out the window. He knew the truth. They hadn't seen the half of it. They had only seen the beast on dry land, out of its element.

Izuku, for his part, was just trying to survive. His Quirk metabolism demanded a staggering caloric intake, especially after the physical toll of his full transformation during the exam. At lunch, Lunch Rush had to prepare a special meal plan for him: literal buckets of steamed salmon, tuna, and raw sashimi. He ate with intense, mechanical efficiency, his jaw muscles rippling beneath his cheeks.

"You sure can eat a lot, Midoriya," Tsuyu Asui noted bluntly, sitting across from him in the cafeteria, her large, amphibious eyes blinking slowly. "Ribbit. I guess a body like yours needs a lot of fuel."

"Y-Yeah," Izuku swallowed, wiping his mouth with a napkin. "My Quirk... it's really demanding. Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus was a semi-aquatic predator. In my human form, my bones are incredibly dense to counteract buoyancy in the water, and my muscles have to work twice as hard to move me on land. If I don't eat enough protein, my body starts cannibalizing its own muscle tissue during a shift."

Tenya Iida, chopping the air with his hand, nodded approvingly. "A brilliant display of biological adaptation! Though I must say, Midoriya, your combat style during Mr. Aizawa's Quirk Apprehension Test was terrifyingly reckless. Relying on partial manifestations to throw that softball... the shockwave shattered the windows!"

Izuku winced. He had manifested his massive, heavily armored right arm to throw the ball, scoring an absurd distance, but the sheer displaced air pressure had caused minor property damage. Mr. Aizawa had glared at him with glowing red eyes, warning him that a hero who couldn't control their own strength was just a walking natural disaster.

He's right, Izuku thought, looking down at his scarred hands. I'm too destructive. I need an environment where I can cut loose without holding back.

He wouldn't have to wait long.

The bus ride to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, or the USJ, was filled with idle chatter. Izuku sat near the window, feeling the suspension of the bus struggle slightly under his side.

Tsuyu, sitting nearby, placed a finger on her chin. "Midoriya. I say whatever comes to mind. Ribbit."

Izuku blinked, pulled from his muttering. "O-Oh, Asui? What is it?"

"Call me Tsu. Your Quirk is essentially a giant dinosaur. It's incredibly flashy and strong. It's the kind of Quirk that makes people think of Kaiju movies. Do you ever worry people will view you as a villain?"

The bus went dead silent. Everyone turned to look at Izuku. It was the elephant in the room that no one had dared to address. Katsuki, sitting near the front, stiffened but didn't turn around.

Izuku looked down at his knees. "I... I do. All the time." He took a deep breath. "When I was younger, I accidentally broke things a lot. People looked at me like I was a monster. They said Quirks like mine were meant for destroying cities, not saving them. But... that's exactly why I have to be a hero. I want to prove that it doesn't matter what you look like or how scary your power is. I want to be a hero who can protect everyone, no matter how big the threat is."

Uraraka smiled warmly. "I think that's amazing, Deku." (She had adopted the nickname as a term of endearment, much to Katsuki's annoyance). "You saved me. You're already a hero to me."

Kirishima pumped his fist. "Hell yeah! That's the spirit, Midoriya!"

Even Aizawa, sitting at the front in his yellow sleeping bag, offered a faint, almost imperceptible smirk.

When the class finally stepped into the USJ, they were greeted by the Space Hero, Thirteen. The massive, domed facility was a marvel of engineering, divided into various catastrophic zones: a ruined city, a mountainous region, a fire zone, and a massive, deep-water lake known as the Shipwreck Zone.

Izuku’s eyes immediately locked onto the Shipwreck Zone. The smell of the water, the humidity in the air—his pupils dilated briefly into reptilian slits. His body practically hummed. He felt a desperate, primal urge to dive in and relieve the immense, crushing weight of gravity on his dense bones.

Thirteen began to speak about the dangers of fatal Quirks and the responsibility of heroes. Izuku listened intently, nodding along.

But then, the lights in the dome flickered. The massive central fountain sputtered and died.

Down in the central plaza, the air itself seemed to tear open. A swirling vortex of purple and black mist expanded, and from its depths, figures began to emerge. Dozens of them. Armed with pipes, swords, and malicious, mutated Quirks.

Aizawa’s capture scarf immediately unfurled, his demeanor shifting from tired teacher to lethal pro. "Gather together and don't move! Thirteen, protect the students!"

"What is that?" Kirishima asked, squinting down at the plaza. "Is this like the Entrance Exam? Has the training started already?"

Izuku’s hyper-sensitive hearing caught the sound of the mist swirling, the heavy footsteps on the concrete, and the ragged, unsettling breathing of the man covered in disembodied hands standing at the center of the horde.

"No," Izuku said, his voice dropping an octave, a low, subconscious growl vibrating in his chest. "Those are real."

"Villains," Aizawa confirmed.

Before anyone could fully process the gravity of the situation, the purple mist—a villain whose body seemed made entirely of the dark portal—expanded rapidly. "I am Kurogiri of the League of Villains," the mist announced, his polite voice chilling the air. "We have invited ourselves into U.A. High School to see if All Might, the Symbol of Peace, will draw his last breath here."

Bakugo and Kirishima leaped forward to attack, but Kurogiri was faster. The mist completely enveloped the students, blinding them in a vortex of dark, disorienting space.

Izuku felt the ground vanish beneath his feet. The sensation of falling took over.

When the darkness cleared, the first thing Izuku registered was the smell. Stagnant water, rust, and ozone. He was falling through the air. Beneath him was a massive body of water, and floating in the center was a faux shipwreck.

With a heavy SPLASH, Izuku hit the water.

Immediately, the crushing weight of his dense body, which he constantly fought against on land, vanished. The water embraced him like an old friend. He opened his eyes, the nictitating membranes sliding across his corneas, allowing him perfect, crystal-clear underwater vision.

Above him, he saw Tsuyu kicking gracefully through the water, carrying a panicking Mineta in one arm. She breached the surface and latched onto the side of the rusted boat.

Izuku kicked his legs, surging upward with immense speed, and broke the surface. He grabbed the rusted railing of the boat and hauled his heavy frame over the side, landing on the deck with a metallic CLANG.

"Midoriya!" Tsuyu said, dragging Mineta onto the deck. "Are you okay? Ribbit."

"I'm fine," Izuku said, shaking the water from his green hair. "Where are we?"

"The Shipwreck Zone," Mineta sobbed, clinging to the deck. "Those villains... they separated us! We're gonna die!"

Izuku peered over the railing. In the water surrounding the boat, dark shapes were moving. Fins cut through the surface. Men with scales, gills, and webbed appendages were circling the ship.

"Look at these brats!" one of the villains yelled from the water, a man with a shark-like mutation. "They sent us children! The mist guy said scatter them and kill them. Looks like we got the easy targets!"

"They're aquatic villains," Tsuyu observed, her face entirely calm despite the danger. "They sent us to the water zone because they knew this was their domain. They have the absolute advantage in there."

Izuku stared at the swirling water. The villains were laughing. They were confident. They thought they had trapped three helpless students in a watery grave.

Izuku’s heart rate slowed. The panic that usually gripped him in stressful situations was entirely absent. This wasn't the mock city. This wasn't a concrete jungle where he had to worry about crushing bystanders or collapsing buildings.

This was the water.

A dark, terrifying smirk—one entirely unlike Izuku Midoriya—tugged at the corner of his mouth.

"Asui," Izuku said, his voice dangerously low.

"Tsu," she corrected him instinctively.

"Tsu. Can you climb?" Izuku asked, his slitted eyes locked on the water below.

"Of course. I'm a frog."

"Take Mineta. Climb up to the highest point of the ship’s mast. Do not touch the water under any circumstances."

Mineta shrieked. "What?! Midoriya, what are you talking about?! We're surrounded! They're gonna sink the ship!"

Izuku stood up. He unbuttoned his U.A. gym jacket and let it drop to the rusted deck. He cracked his neck, the sound echoing like a gunshot over the quiet water.

"They made a tactical error," Izuku said softly. "They assumed we were randomly scattered. Or maybe they knew Tsu's Quirk and thought sending her here would negate her advantage by overwhelming her with numbers."

Izuku stepped up onto the railing of the ship.

"But they don't know my Quirk," Izuku said, looking down at the shark-villain. "They think they trapped us in their domain."

Izuku took a deep breath. "They don't realize they just locked themselves in a cage with me."

Izuku leaned forward and let gravity pull him off the railing.

"Midoriya!" Mineta screamed.

The moment Izuku’s body crossed the threshold of the water, he unleashed the beast.

He didn't just transform; he detonated. The water violently erupted around him, boiling with the sheer, instantaneous heat radiating from his shifting biology. The villains in the water recoiled, crying out as a localized shockwave of displaced water slammed into them.

Beneath the surface, the transformation was a horrifying ballet of anatomical supremacy. Izuku’s human flesh gave way to cerulean, diamond-hard scales. His spine arched, bursting forth into a colossal, vascular dorsal sail that acted as a stabilizing rudder and a thermal engine. His legs thickened into massive, webbed pillars of muscle. His face elongated, cartilage snapping forward into a six-foot crocodilian snout, eighty serrated, conical teeth locking into place.

His massive paddle-tail, muscular and heavy, uncoiled behind him.

The shark-villain, underwater, rubbed his eyes to clear the bubbles. He looked forward, expecting to see a drowning schoolboy.

Instead, staring back at him through the murky blue, illuminated only by the faint light filtering from the surface, were two massive, glowing emerald eyes.

The villain froze. The water around him suddenly felt impossibly cold.

Looming in the depths, dwarfing the shipwreck above it, was a fifty-foot semi-aquatic god of death. The Spinosaurus hung suspended in the water, perfectly buoyant, perfectly still.

On the surface, Mineta and Tsu clung to the mast of the ship. The water, which had been churning with villains moments before, had gone completely, terrifyingly silent.

"W-What's happening?" Mineta whimpered. "Where did he go?"

Beneath the surface, Izuku opened his massive jaws. The water rushed over the highly sensitive sensory pits lining the front of his snout. He didn't even need to look. He could feel the exact location of every single villain in the water based on the microscopic pressure changes caused by their heartbeats and twitching muscles.

The shark-villain finally broke his paralysis. He turned and kicked his webbed feet frantically. Swim! Get away!

Izuku twitched his tail.

He moved with a speed that defied logic. On land, he was a sluggish tank. In the water, he was a torpedo. He closed the fifty-yard gap between himself and the fleeing shark-villain in less than a second.

Izuku didn't bite him. His teeth were designed to impale and hold, and a bite from his massive jaws would instantly tear the man in half. He wasn't a murderer; he was a hero.

Instead, Izuku swam beneath the villain, raised his massive, armored snout, and headbutted the villain squarely in the chest.

The force was like being struck by a submarine. The villain was launched upward, breaking the surface of the water, flying thirty feet into the air, completely unconscious, before crashing down onto the deck of the shipwreck with a sickening crunch.

The remaining villains panicked. They swarmed, shooting water blasts, firing harpoons, and attempting to slash at Izuku with mutated claws.

It was pathetic.

A harpoon struck Izuku’s side and bounced off his cerulean scales without leaving a scratch. Izuku pivoted with terrifying grace. He swung his colossal paddle-tail. The resulting underwater concussive wave hit five villains at once, knocking the breath from their lungs and sending them spinning helplessly into the deep.

Izuku swam in a massive, tight circle around the remaining horde. He pumped his legs and whipped his tail, moving faster and faster. His massive bulk displaced so much water that a localized current began to form.

On the surface, the water around the shipwreck began to swirl.

"Hold on!" Tsu yelled, wrapping her long tongue around the mast as the ship violently pitched to the side.

Izuku was creating a whirlpool.

The villains were caught in the merciless, swirling vortex. They screamed, thrashing against the sheer kinetic power of the current, but they were entirely at the mercy of the River Tyrant. The crushing water pressure and the dizzying spin incapacitated them one by one.

With a final, powerful thrust of his legs, Izuku surged upward through the center of the whirlpool. He breached the surface, ascending ten feet into the air, a colossal behemoth wreathed in cascading white water. He let out a deafening roar that echoed across the entire USJ facility. The sound was so loud, so primal, that villains in the Fire Zone and the Ruins stopped dead in their tracks, looking toward the water with wide, terrified eyes.

Izuku crashed back into the water, generating a tidal wave that washed the unconscious villains onto the shore of the plaza.

He swam to the edge of the Shipwreck Zone, his massive claws finding purchase on the concrete lip of the central plaza. He hauled his massive, front-heavy body out of the water, water pouring from his scales and dorsal sail like a waterfall.

He looked toward the center of the plaza.

What he saw made his reptilian blood run cold.

Mr. Aizawa was lying in a pool of his own blood.

Standing over him was a creature straight out of a nightmare. It was massive, heavily muscled, with skin the color of bruised purple and an exposed brain protruding from its skull. It had a beak filled with razor-sharp teeth. It was currently holding Aizawa’s arm, snapping the bones like dry twigs.

A few yards away stood a man covered in disembodied hands, scratching his neck furiously. "You're cool, Eraserhead," the man muttered. "But against my Nomu, you're just a normal guy. Nomu is a bio-engineered anti-Symbol of Peace."

Izuku felt the heat rising in his massive sail. Aizawa, his teacher, was being tortured.

Izuku didn't think about his weaknesses. He didn't think about his slow speed on dry land. He dropped onto all fours, his massive claws digging deep into the plaza concrete.

With a thunderous roar, the fifty-foot Spinosaurus charged.

Shigaraki Tomura, the man with the hands, slowly turned his head. His eyes widened slightly beneath the hand covering his face. "What the hell is that?"

The Nomu dropped Aizawa, turning its dead, soulless eyes toward the approaching leviathan.

Izuku closed the distance. He swung his massive tail, a blow that had shattered the Zero Pointer.

The heavy paddle struck the Nomu directly in the ribs. The sound of the impact was deafening, a sickening THWACK that sent a shockwave of dust across the plaza.

But the Nomu didn't move. It didn't even flinch. It merely absorbed the kinetic energy.

Shock Absorption, Izuku’s tactical mind realized, even in his monstrous form. Blunt force won't work on it.

The Nomu raised a massive fist and punched Izuku in the jaw.

The force of the blow was staggering. It felt like being hit by a freight train. Izuku’s massive head snapped to the side, a spray of reptilian blood flying from his mouth as he stumbled backward, his claws tearing deep trenches in the concrete. He shook his heavy head, his emerald eyes narrowing in fury.

"A Kaiju?" Shigaraki laughed, his voice raspy and dry. "Is that a student? Wow. You've got high HP, kid. But Nomu is as strong as All Might. You're just a big, dumb lizard. Nomu. Rip it apart."

The Nomu screeched, launching itself at Izuku with terrifying speed.

Izuku knew he couldn't beat it in a fistfight. On land, he was clumsy, and the Nomu was infinitely faster. But Izuku had one advantage the Nomu didn't.

He was a predator. And predators knew how to grapple.

As the Nomu closed in, Izuku didn't try to dodge. He lunged forward, opening his massive, six-foot crocodilian jaws to their absolute maximum limit.

The Nomu swung both fists, aiming for Izuku’s exposed chest.

Izuku ignored the incoming blows. He clamped his jaws directly over the Nomu’s upper torso, trapping both of the creature’s arms against its sides in a vice grip of serrated teeth.

The Spinosaurus bite force was not designed for crushing bone like a Tyrannosaurus. It was designed to pierce, grip, and hold onto massive, thrashing prehistoric fish that weighed several tons. Once a Spinosaurus locked its jaws, nothing escaped.

Izuku’s teeth pierced the Nomu’s tough purple skin, sinking deep into the muscle. The Nomu screeched in confusion, thrashing violently, its immense strength trying to pry the jaws open. But Izuku clamped down harder, the muscles in his massive neck bulging.

The beast was strong, but Izuku had sheer gravitational mass on his side. He weighed over ten tons in this form. He pressed forward, using his massive bulk to tackle the Nomu to the ground, pinning the bio-engineered monster against the shattered concrete of the plaza.

"Hey! Let him go!" Shigaraki yelled, running forward. "Nomu, break its jaws!"

The Nomu thrashed, its shock absorption useless against the agonizing, piercing pain of eighty serrated daggers buried in its flesh. Izuku groaned, his neck muscles straining to the point of tearing as the Nomu fought back. The creature was insanely strong; Izuku could feel his jaw bones creaking under the pressure.

I can't hold it forever! Izuku thought, his emerald eyes frantically scanning the plaza. Somebody, please!

Suddenly, the massive metal doors of the USJ burst open.

The dust settled, revealing a massive, towering figure in a yellow suit. He wasn't smiling.

"IT IS FINE NOW!" All Might bellowed, his voice echoing with unchecked fury. "WHY? BECAUSE I AM HERE!"

In a blur of movement, All Might crossed the entire length of the USJ in less than a second. He dispatched a dozen villains before skidding to a halt in the plaza, looking at the massive, bleeding Spinosaurus pinning the screeching Nomu to the ground.

All Might recognized the glowing emerald eyes of the beast.

"Young Midoriya?!" All Might gasped.

Izuku couldn't speak, but he looked at All Might, then down at the Nomu trapped in his jaws, before giving a slight nod.

All Might understood instantly. The boy couldn't defeat it, but he had immobilized the greatest threat on the battlefield, sacrificing his own safety to protect Aizawa.

"Hold him steady, my boy!" All Might roared, steam rising from his muscular body as he pulled his right arm back. The air around him began to warp and distort from the sheer pressure of his coiled power.

Izuku clamped his jaws down one final time, digging his massive claws into the ground to anchor himself. The Nomu shrieked, desperately trying to break free.

"CAROLINA..." All Might roared, leaping into the air. He descended like a golden meteor, his fist glowing with explosive kinetic energy. "...SMASH!"

All Might’s fist bypassed Izuku’s snout entirely, slamming directly into the exposed, protruding brain of the Nomu.

The shockwave was apocalyptic. The concrete of the plaza completely disintegrated, sending a shockwave of wind that uprooted trees and blew the remaining villains off their feet. Izuku’s massive form was pushed backward, his claws carving deep trenches into the earth, but he refused to let go until the very last second.

When the dust finally cleared, the Nomu lay twitching and completely unresponsive in a massive crater.

Shigaraki stared in utter disbelief. His unbeatable monster, his anti-Symbol of Peace, was defeated. He began scratching his neck violently, drawing blood. "Cheater... you cheated! A massive beast to pin him down so the boss could get a clean shot?! That's not fair! That's a cheat code!"

"Shigaraki Tomura," Kurogiri said, appearing beside him. "The Nomu is incapacitated. And the students have alerted the authorities. We must retreat."

"Fine. Game over," Shigaraki spat, glaring at All Might and the massive dinosaur. "But we'll be back."

With a swirl of dark mist, the villains vanished.

Silence fell over the ruined USJ.

Izuku, still in his colossal Spinosaurus form, let out a long, ragged exhale. His jaw ached terribly, blood dripping from his snout where the Nomu had punched him. He looked down at All Might, who gave him a thumbs up.

Then, the adrenaline faded. The exhaustion of operating his fifty-foot form on dry land caught up to him all at once.

Izuku swayed on his feet. The massive beast collapsed forward, hitting the ground with a resounding thud. Steam poured from his body, hissing as his massive form rapidly folded in on itself.

Within moments, the leviathan was gone. Izuku Midoriya lay naked on the shattered concrete, completely unconscious, his jaw bruised and his chest rising and falling in shallow breaths.

All Might quickly took off his yellow suit jacket and draped it over the boy, hiding him from view as the rest of Class 1-A began to slowly emerge from the various zones.

Kirishima, Bakugo, and Todoroki arrived at the plaza just as the U.A. faculty burst through the doors.

Kirishima looked at the crater, then at the unconscious boy wrapped in All Might’s coat.

"Man," Kirishima whispered, awe written all over his face. "Did you guys see that? He pinned that monster down."

Katsuki stared at Izuku, his fists clenched tight, a complicated mix of anger, rivalry, and undeniable respect burning in his crimson eyes. You stupid, oversized nerd. You're gonna get yourself killed playing the hero on land.

Above them, the sun filtered through the shattered glass of the USJ dome, reflecting off the calm waters of the Shipwreck Zone. The water was quiet now, but every villain who had been trapped in it would forever remember the day they bled in the water, and the River Tyrant who ruled the deep.

The media narrative surrounding the USJ Incident was a double-edged sword.

On one hand, U.A. High School was heavily criticized for allowing villains to infiltrate their campus. On the other hand, the bravery of the students was broadcast across every major news network in Japan. But buried beneath the headlines of All Might’s heroic arrival and Eraserhead’s near-fatal stand, a different story was brewing on hero forums and internet message boards.

“Did you see the leaked police report? One of the kids turned into a literal Kaiju.”

“I heard it was a Spinosaurus. But U.A. got lucky. The villains teleported the kid to the Shipwreck Zone. If he had been in the Ruins or the Fire Zone, he would’ve been dead weight.”

“Exactly. A water-based transformation Quirk? He’s a one-trick pony. Put that monster on dry land, and he’ll collapse under his own weight. He’s a hazard to civilians in a city.”

Izuku Midoriya read the comments on his phone, the glowing screen illuminating his face in the dark of his bedroom. He gripped the device so tightly the plastic casing creaked under his dense, reinforced fingers.

They weren't entirely wrong. He was at a disadvantage on land. The gravity, the stamina drain, the sheer clumsiness of his fifty-foot form—it was a logistical nightmare. But reading the words still stung. They saw a villainous monster. They saw a localized natural disaster. They didn't see a hero.

I have to prove them wrong, Izuku thought, setting the phone face-down on his desk. I have to show the world that I am not just a sea monster.

Two weeks later, U.A. High School announced the commencement of the annual Sports Festival. It was the greatest athletic event in the nation, superseding the Olympics. It was a chance for students to showcase their Quirks to Pro-Hero agencies across the country.

For Izuku, it was a crucible. The Sports Festival arena was a massive, open-air concrete stadium.

Not a single drop of water in sight.

The tension in the Class 1-A waiting room was palpable. Students were doing last-minute stretches, adjusting their gym uniforms, and mentally preparing for the broadcast that would define their futures.

Izuku sat in the corner, chewing methodically on a massive strip of high-protein beef jerky. His body was a furnace, burning calories in anticipation of the biological shifts he was about to force his body through.

"Midoriya."

Izuku looked up. Standing before him was Shoto Todoroki. The boy with the dual-toned hair and the scarred face looked down at Izuku with eyes as cold as a winter storm.

The room went dead silent. Even Katsuki Bakugo stopped pacing to watch.

"Looking at things objectively," Todoroki said, his voice flat and perfectly even, "in terms of raw power, you are likely the strongest person in this room. Your display at the USJ... holding down that bio-engineered monster... it was overwhelming."

Izuku swallowed, standing up. Because of his baseline dense anatomy, he was an inch taller and significantly broader than Todoroki. "Todoroki, I—"

"However," Todoroki interrupted, his gaze narrowing. "Your power is rooted in an aquatic biology. You require the buoyancy of water to support your mass, and its cooling properties to regulate your temperature. Out there, on that dry, flat dirt... you are compromised."

Todoroki raised his right hand, frost instantly gathering on his knuckles. "I'm going to beat you, Midoriya. I'm going to freeze your prehistoric blood, and I'm going to prove that my ice is the absolute apex."

It was a declaration of war. Kirishima and Kaminari winced, feeling the temperature in the room plummet.

Izuku didn't flinch. He looked at the frost on Todoroki’s hand, then met the boy’s heterochromatic eyes. Slowly, Izuku’s own pupils contracted, shifting from human orbs into the vertical, glowing emerald slits of a reptilian predator. A low, barely audible rumble vibrated in his chest.

"You're right about my biology," Izuku said, his voice dropping into that gravelly, resonant tone he used when his vocal cords prepared to shift. "I am built for the water. But you're wrong if you think I can't survive on land. An apex predator adapts to its environment, Todoroki. If you want to freeze me... you'd better bring a glacier."

The stadium erupted in a deafening roar as Class 1-A walked out onto the field. The Pro-Hero Present Mic screamed into the microphone from the announcer's booth, hyping up the crowd.

The first event was the Obstacle Course Race. A four-kilometer sprint around the circumference of the stadium, littered with unknown hazards. All eleven classes were crammed into a single, narrow starting corridor.

Standing before the massive red doors, Izuku closed his eyes and breathed. Control it. Don't unleash the whole thing. Partial shifts. Compress the mass.

"START!"

The doors groaned open. Instantly, a bottleneck formed. Hundreds of students shoved and clawed at each other, trapped in the narrow tunnel.

Suddenly, a wave of freezing air swept through the corridor. Todoroki had frozen the ground beneath them, trapping dozens of students in a thick layer of ice. Todoroki sprinted ahead, his breath pluming in the cold air.

Not this time, Izuku thought.

Heat surged into his lower half. Partial Manifestation: Theropod Stance!

With a sickening crack of cartilage and bone, Izuku’s legs shattered their human limitations. His femurs elongated, his knees reversing in structure. His skin dissolved into thick, cerulean scales, and his feet burst out of his U.A. sneakers, mutating into massive, three-toed, webbed talons. Simultaneously, a ten-foot-long, heavily armored tail erupted from his lower spine, hitting the ice with a heavy thud to provide counterbalance.

Izuku didn't slip on the ice. He shattered it. His talons dug deep into the frozen concrete, anchoring him. With a powerful, bipedal thrust, he leaped over the frozen crowd of students, bursting out of the tunnel into the open sunlight.

He moved like an ostrich on steroids. His digitigrade legs provided immense, explosive forward momentum. Every time his talons struck the earth, small craters formed.

"WHOA! LOOK AT THAT SPEED!" Present Mic screamed. "MIDORIYA FROM CLASS 1-A IS HOT ON TODOROKI'S HEELS, USING A PARTIAL SHIFT TO TURN HIMSELF INTO A SPEED DEMON!"

Aizawa, sitting next to Mic, leaned into his microphone. "It's a smart adaptation. By keeping his upper half human, he drastically reduces his overall body weight, allowing his modified lower half to propel him without the stamina drain of his full form. He's thinking."

Izuku bounded forward, closing the gap with Todoroki just as they reached the first obstacle: the Robo-Inferno.

Dozens of Zero Pointers, the same massive robots from the Entrance Exam, blocked the path.

Todoroki didn't hesitate. He swung his right arm, unleashing a massive wave of ice that froze the colossal robots in place, perfectly balancing them so they would crash down on anyone who followed him.

Todoroki ran between the frozen behemoths. Behind him, the ice began to crack.

Izuku didn't try to run through. He didn't want to waste time fighting. As the massive, frozen robot began to tip forward, threatening to crush the path, Izuku accelerated.

He funneled every ounce of power into his dinosaurian legs. Just as the robot fell, Izuku jumped. He vaulted thirty feet into the air, using his heavy, muscular tail to perfectly balance his center of gravity mid-flight. He landed squarely on the falling robot’s metal shoulder, kicked off again, and vaulted over the entire obstacle, landing heavily on the dirt path on the other side.

Second place.

He continued his terrifying, ground-shaking sprint through the second obstacle, the Fall—a canyon of tightropes—by relying on his tail for perfect equilibrium.

Finally, the Minefield.

Todoroki was forced to slow down, carefully navigating the explosive dirt. Behind them both, a massive explosion signaled the arrival of Katsuki Bakugo, propelling himself through the air with consecutive blasts.

"DEKU!" Bakugo roared, flying over the minefield. "DON'T YOU DARE GET AHEAD OF ME!"

Izuku arrived at the edge of the minefield. He was heavy. If he stepped on a mine, the explosion wouldn't penetrate his scales, but the concussive force would throw him off balance and slow him down.

Izuku looked at his massive, paddle-like tail. If I can't avoid them... I'll clear them.

Izuku spun around, presenting his back to the minefield. He crouched low, his dinosaurian legs coiling tightly. Then, he swung his heavy tail in a massive, sweeping arc across the dirt just behind him.

The sheer kinetic force of the paddle-tail striking the earth detonated ten mines simultaneously.

The resulting explosion was catastrophic. A massive shockwave of pink smoke and fire blasted outward. Izuku used the concussive wave of the blast, combined with an explosive jump, to launch himself backward through the air.

He flew over Todoroki and Bakugo, a localized meteor of cerulean scales and green hair.

He landed heavily on the other side of the minefield, his talons carving deep into the dirt to arrest his momentum. He spun around, reverting his legs to their human state to conserve energy, and crossed the finish line in a dead sprint.

"AND THE FIRST ONE TO RETURN TO THE STADIUM... IZUKU MIDORIYA!"

The crowd went wild. Izuku stood panting, sweat dripping from his chin. He had taken first place in a footrace, proving he didn't need water to dominate.

But the victory came with a price.

"Now for the second event!" the Pro-Hero Midnight announced. "The Cavalry Battle! And the first-place winner, Izuku Midoriya, is worth... TEN MILLION POINTS!"

Every single eye in the stadium turned to Izuku. They weren't looking at him like a fellow student anymore. They were looking at him like prey.

Forming a team when you are essentially a walking, ten-ton target is difficult. Nobody wanted to be weighed down by Izuku’s mass, nor did they want to draw the fire of the entire student body.

"Midoriya!"

Izuku turned to see Uraraka running toward him. "Uraraka? Are you sure? Everyone is going to be coming for us."

"You saved me," she smiled brightly. "Plus, I have a plan! With my Zero Gravity, I can make you lighter so you can actually move without destroying the ground!"

"I will join you as well," a dark, raspy voice said. Fumikage Tokoyami stepped out of the shadows, his avian head nodding respectfully. "Dark Shadow provides excellent defense against frontal assaults. But we need a base. A horse capable of carrying us while withstanding attacks."

Izuku looked at his hands, a slow realization dawning on him. "I won't just be the rider. I'll be the horse."

When the fifteen-minute preparation timer ended, the stadium was treated to a bizarre and terrifying sight.

Izuku had completely altered his biology, forcing a horrific, hybrid shift. From the waist up, he was human, wearing the ten-million-point headband. But from the waist down, he was a monster. His legs were massive, pillared, and armored with interlocking scales, ending in massive talons that dug deep into the dirt. His massive tail stretched out behind him, resting heavily on the ground. He had essentially turned himself into a bipedal saurian centaur.

Uraraka sat securely on his right shoulder, her hands pressed against his back, constantly feeding him a low level of Zero Gravity to reduce his multi-ton weight to something manageable. Tokoyami sat on his left shoulder, Dark Shadow fully manifested and circling them like a protective shroud.

"START!" Midnight cracked her whip.

The entire arena charged at Izuku.

"Here they come!" Uraraka yelled.

"Hold on tight," Izuku commanded, his voice deep and gravelly.

Tetsutetsu’s team was the first to arrive. Tetsutetsu turned his skin to solid steel and threw a massive punch at Izuku’s scaled thigh. The punch connected with a loud CLANG.

Tetsutetsu howled in pain, clutching his shattered knuckles. Izuku’s dense, aquatic bone structure, fortified by his cerulean armor, didn't even register the impact. Izuku merely swung his heavy tail, sweeping the legs out from under Tetsutetsu’s entire team and sending them crashing to the dirt.

"Todoroki at twelve o'clock!" Tokoyami warned.

Todoroki’s team charged on a wave of ice. Todoroki sent a massive, jagged glacier shooting across the dirt directly at Izuku.

"Dark Shadow!" Tokoyami commanded. The shadow beast lunged forward, smashing the brunt of the ice, but the sheer volume was too much. The ice slammed into Izuku’s lower half, attempting to freeze his reptilian legs to the ground.

Izuku let out a low hiss. Cold was his enemy. As a reptile, extreme cold slowed his blood flow and stiffened his muscles. But he wasn't fully transformed; he still had his human heart.

He flexed his massive thighs. The sheer torque and hydraulic power of his theropod muscles shattered the ice encasing him. He stomped forward, the earth shaking beneath him.

"He broke the ice with sheer physical strength," Todoroki muttered, his eyes narrowing. "Kaminari. Shock him."

Denki Kaminari unleashed a massive surge of electricity.

"Uraraka, release!" Izuku yelled.

Uraraka dropped her Quirk. Izuku’s full, ten-ton weight slammed into the earth. The massive talons of his feet grounded him perfectly. The electricity cascaded over his thick, non-conductive scales and safely dispersed into the dirt without doing a drop of damage.

For the next ten minutes, Izuku was an immovable fortress. He didn't try to attack; he simply endured. He swatted away incoming teams with his tail, absorbed physical blows with his armored hide, and relied on Dark Shadow to deflect ranged attacks. He was a tank.

When the buzzer finally sounded, Izuku collapsed to his knees, his human torso heaving for breath, sweat pouring down his face. He had held onto the ten million points.

He had won the Cavalry Battle.

Before the final tournament began, Izuku found himself standing in a quiet, concrete tunnel beneath the stadium.

Todoroki had cornered him.

"Endeavor is my old man," Todoroki said quietly, leaning against the cold wall. "You know him, right? The Number Two Hero. He has spent his entire life trying to surpass All Might. But he realized he couldn't do it on his own. So, he bought my mother for her ice Quirk. He created me to be a masterpiece. A tool with the perfect hybrid of fire and ice, designed solely to beat All Might."

Izuku listened, horror creeping into his chest.

"In my memories, my mother is always crying," Todoroki continued, raising his left hand, staring at the skin. "She told me my left side... my fire... was unbearable. So she poured boiling water on my face."

Todoroki looked at Izuku, the hatred burning in his dual-colored eyes. "I will never use his fire in battle. I am going to win this tournament, and I am going to prove to him that I can be the best using only my mother's power. I will reject him entirely."

Todoroki pushed off the wall, walking past Izuku. "You have a monstrous Quirk, Midoriya. People expect you to be a beast. I expect you to be a beast. And I will freeze the beast until it stops moving."

Izuku stood in the tunnel long after Todoroki had left.

He understood now. Todoroki wasn't just fighting his classmates. He was fighting the ghost of his father. He was deliberately halving his own potential to prove a point. He was a boy trapped in a cage of his own making, terrified of his own power.

Izuku looked down at his own hands, calloused and scarred from the sheer strain of holding back the Leviathan inside him. For years, Izuku had hated his Quirk. He had hated being a monster. But the River Tyrant was a part of him. If he rejected it, if he feared it, he could never save anyone.

He's just like me, Izuku realized. He's terrified of his own power.

Izuku clenched his fists. I won't let him freeze to death. I'll break his ice. I'll break his cage.

The final matches were a blur. Izuku’s overwhelming physical dominance easily secured his path to the semi-finals. A tail swipe was enough to throw Hitoshi Shinso out of bounds before the boy could even trigger his brainwashing. A quick, heavily armored sprint allowed him to push past Iida's engines.

Now, the sun was beginning to set over the U.A. stadium, casting long, golden shadows across the shattered concrete of the fighting ring.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!" Present Mic's voice echoed through the stadium, crackling with static. "THIS IS THE MATCH YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR! TWO OF CLASS 1-A'S ABSOLUTE HEAVYWEIGHTS! IN THIS CORNER, THE MASTER OF ICE, SHOTO TODOROKI! AND IN THE OTHER CORNER, THE UNSTOPPABLE RIVER TYRANT, IZUKU MIDORIYA!"

The crowd’s roar was deafening.

Izuku stepped onto the concrete ring. He was wearing his U.A. gym uniform, the tear-away flap in the back already unbuttoned. He bounced on his toes, rolling his shoulders.

Across the ring, Todoroki stood perfectly still. The right side of his body was already encased in a thin layer of frost. The air around him was visibly dropping in temperature.

Midnight stood on the sideline, raising her whip. "Are both fighters ready?"

Izuku took a deep breath.

"BEGIN!"

Todoroki didn't waste a single microsecond. He slammed his right foot into the concrete.

The temperature in the stadium plummeted below freezing instantly. A massive, deafening CRACK echoed through the air as a glacier—a literal mountain of jagged, razor-sharp ice—erupted from Todoroki's foot and surged across the arena at the speed of sound. It was the same attack he had used against Sero, an overwhelming, arena-consuming wave of absolute zero.

The ice swallowed Izuku completely.

The glacier towered fifty feet into the air, completely encasing the right side of the ring. The sheer displacement of freezing air blew the hats off the spectators in the front rows.

Silence descended on the stadium.

Present Mic dropped his microphone. "H-He froze him instantly! Is it over?!"

Todoroki stood, a cloud of frosty breath escaping his lips. Frost covered his entire right arm and climbed up his neck. He was trembling slightly. The sheer volume of ice had dropped his internal body temperature to dangerous levels.

"Midnight," Todoroki said, his teeth chattering slightly. "Call the match. If he stays in there, his reptilian biology will shut down. He'll die."

Midnight raised her whip, preparing to declare Todoroki the winner.

Thump.

Todoroki froze. It was a faint sound, deep and resonant.

Thump.

A puff of steam hissed from a microscopic crack in the center of the massive glacier.

THUMP-THUMP.

It sounded like a massive war drum. It was the sound of a monstrous heart, beating at triple its normal speed.

Suddenly, a localized wave of blistering heat radiated from the center of the ice block. The thick, white glacier began to glow with a faint, menacing orange light.

"What is that?" Aizawa muttered in the announcer's booth, leaning forward.

Deep within the ice, Izuku Midoriya was trapped. The cold was agonizing. It was seeping into his skin, trying to slow his blood, trying to force his reptilian biology into hibernation.

You think a little cold can stop the Apex? Izuku's inner monologue was drowned out by the guttural, furious roar of the Leviathan in his mind.

Izuku didn't just transform his limbs. He initiated a highly specific, targeted biological mutation of his spine.

Spino-Leviathan: THERMAL REGULATION!

With a sickening, muffled crunch, Izuku’s massive dorsal sail burst from his back, tearing through his shirt and instantly pressing against the solid ice behind him.

The Spinosaurus sail was not just for show. It was a massive, six-foot-tall biological radiator, lined with thousands of thick, vascular blood vessels. Izuku commanded his massive heart to accelerate, pumping gallons of hyper-oxygenated, rapidly heating blood directly into the sail. The sail acted like a solar panel in reverse—it began to generate and radiate immense, staggering amounts of heat.

The ice surrounding Izuku began to hiss. Then, it began to melt.

Water poured down Izuku’s face as the glacier hollowed out around him. The steam pressure inside the ice cave built to a critical mass.

"He's melting it!" Todoroki gasped, taking a step back.

With a roar that shook the stadium, Izuku swung his heavily armored fist outward.

The glacier exploded.

Shards of ice the size of cars were blown outward by a massive geyser of steam. From the blinding white fog, a nightmare emerged.

Izuku stepped forward. He was in a massive, bipedal Hybrid Form. He stood seven feet tall. His legs were entirely dinosaurian, his massive tail swinging behind him. His arms were coated to the elbows in thick, cerulean scales, his fingers ending in vicious talons. And rising from his back was the colossal, blood-red and blue dorsal sail, radiating a wave of heat that caused the air around him to visibly shimmer and distort.

The water from the melted ice coated his body. It dripped from his scales, running down his muscular arms. The water absorbed the heat from his sail, creating a constantly evaporating shroud of steam around him.

He looked like a demon forged in a boiling ocean.

Izuku’s emerald, slitted eyes locked onto Todoroki. He breathed out, a cloud of hot steam escaping his mouth.

"You're shivering, Todoroki," Izuku said, his voice a deep, resonant rumble that carried across the silent stadium.

Todoroki gritted his teeth and launched another massive wave of ice.

Izuku didn't dodge. He charged.

He moved with a heavy, terrifying momentum. As the ice spikes rushed toward him, Izuku swung his massive paddle-tail. The dense bone and sheer kinetic force shattered the ice like glass. The shards bounced harmlessly off his cerulean scales.

Izuku closed the distance in seconds. He threw a massive, armored punch.

Todoroki barely managed to erect a thick ice wall in front of him. Izuku’s fist connected, completely obliterating the wall, the shockwave sending Todoroki skidding backward across the concrete, clutching his ribs.

"Why are you doing this?" Izuku roared, stepping forward again, the heat radiating from his sail melting the frost on the ground instantly. "You're freezing yourself to death! Look at your right arm!"

Todoroki was covered in frostbite. His movements were sluggish. He raised his hand again, firing a barrage of ice spears.

Izuku merely crossed his armored arms, letting the spears shatter against his impenetrable scales. "You think you can beat everyone with half your strength?! You haven't put a single scratch on me!"

Todoroki gasped for air, his teeth chattering violently. "Shut up... I will win... with her power..."

"IT'S NOT HERS!" Izuku screamed. He lunged forward, grabbing Todoroki by the collar of his gym shirt with one massive, scaled hand. He lifted the boy off the ground, bringing Todoroki face-to-face with his glowing emerald eyes. "IT'S YOURS! YOUR POWER! NOT HIS! YOURS!"

Izuku threw Todoroki backward. Todoroki hit the ground hard, rolling to a stop near the edge of the boundary line.

Todoroki lay on the concrete, staring up at the sky. His body was freezing. He was going to lose. He remembered his mother. He remembered her crying. He remembered All Might on the television, smiling, saying, 'Children, Quirks are a part of you. They are your power.'

Todoroki closed his eyes. The ice on his right side stopped spreading.

Suddenly, a horrific, blinding wave of heat exploded across the stadium.

Izuku planted his talons into the dirt, bringing his arms up to shield his face. The heat was immense, washing over the arena like a solar flare.

Todoroki stood up. The left side of his body was completely engulfed in roaring, crimson flames. The ice on his right side melted instantly. The air in the stadium violently expanded, creating a massive updraft of wind.

"You're crazy, Midoriya," Todoroki smiled, tears evaporating from his face before they could even fall. "You want to help your enemy? You're a fool. But... thank you."

Izuku lowered his arms. He looked at the roaring flames, the sheer, unadulterated power Todoroki was finally unleashing.

Izuku didn't feel fear. The Leviathan inside him felt a challenge.

Izuku grinned, exposing his sharp canines. "Come on, Todoroki!"

Todoroki raised his right hand, rapidly cooling the air, then raised his left hand, superheating it. The resulting rapid expansion of air created a localized, hyper-pressurized bomb of thermal energy.

Flashfreeze Heatwave.

Todoroki unleashed the blast. A blinding, deafening wave of fire, ice, and hyper-pressurized air shot across the ring toward Izuku. It was an attack capable of leveling a city block.

Izuku didn't retreat. He widened his stance.

He didn't have water. But he had heat. And he had physics.

Izuku forcibly pushed maximum blood flow into his dorsal sail. The sail absorbed the incoming ambient heat from Todoroki’s flames, acting as a massive thermal sponge. The heat supercharged Izuku’s metabolism, sending a rush of pure, unadulterated adrenaline and kinetic energy into his muscles.

Izuku pivoted his hips, dropping low to the ground. He channeled all of his immense mass, all the density of his aquatic bones, and all the supercharged thermal energy into his tail.

"MIDORIYA!"

"TODOROKI!"

Izuku swung his massive paddle-tail forward, meeting the incoming shockwave of fire and air head-on.

The collision defied logic.

The sheer physical mass of the ten-ton tail strike colliding with the hyper-pressurized thermal bomb created an explosion that eclipsed the stadium.

"CEMENTOSS! STOP THEM!" Midnight screamed.

Cementoss slammed his hands into the ground, raising massive concrete walls between the two boys, but it was useless. The walls were instantly pulverized into dust.

The shockwave blasted outward, shattering the glass of the announcer's booth, blowing the Pro-Heroes off their feet, and sending a massive cloud of dust and steam hundreds of feet into the air.

The stadium was completely blinded. For a long, terrifying minute, the only sound was the ringing in everyone's ears and the patter of falling concrete debris.

Slowly, the wind carried the dust away.

The fighting ring was gone. It had been reduced to a massive, smoking crater.

On the far edge of the crater, completely blown out of bounds and embedded into the stadium wall, lay Shoto Todoroki. The flames were gone. He was unconscious, his chest rising and falling softly.

On the other side of the crater, near the center, a silhouette stood in the dissipating steam.

Izuku Midoriya had reverted completely to his human form. His gym uniform was blown entirely to ash, leaving him in only his torn shorts. His body was covered in severe burns, his arms bruised black and purple, his breathing ragged and shallow. Blood dripped from his forehead, running down his nose.

He swayed on his feet, his eyes rolling back in his head. Gravity, the dry air, and the sheer exhaustion of the clash pulled at him. He began to tip forward.

No, Izuku thought, biting his lip until it bled, forcing himself to stay awake. A hero... stands.

With a final, agonizing effort, Izuku locked his knees. He stood perfectly still, his head bowed, remaining upright by sheer, impossible willpower.

Midnight slowly approached the crater, her eyes wide. She looked at the unconscious Todoroki, then at the bruised, burned boy who refused to fall.

She raised her whip.

"Todoroki is out of bounds! Midoriya advances to the finals!"

For a moment, there was silence. The crowd was trying to process what they had just witnessed. They had seen a boy with an aquatic Quirk, a boy they assumed was useless on land, melt a glacier, go toe-to-toe with fire, and stand victorious in a desert of concrete.

Then, the stadium exploded.

The cheer was deafening, a physical force that vibrated the very air. They weren't cheering for a monster. They weren't cheering for a villain.

They were cheering for the River Tyrant, the boy who had conquered the dry land.

The Sports Festival had ended in a crescendo of violence and exhaustion. Izuku Midoriya had advanced to the final match against Katsuki Bakugo, but his body was a ruined, burnt husk after his apocalyptic clash with Shoto Todoroki. Without the stamina to maintain his scales, Bakugo’s explosions had easily overwhelmed him. Bakugo had been furious, screaming that a win against a half-dead opponent was meaningless, but Izuku had simply smiled before passing out.

He had lost the gold medal, but he had won something far more valuable: the respect of the Pro-Hero world.

Two days later, Aizawa stood before Class 1-A, holding a massive stack of internship offers.

"Midoriya," Aizawa droned, his tired eyes scanning the sheet. "You received three thousand, two hundred offers. Second only to Todoroki."

Izuku stared at the board in shock. Three thousand? For a boy who, just months ago, was deemed a walking natural disaster?

"They saw your raw power," Aizawa continued, silencing the class's murmurs. "But they also saw your crippling weakness. You are an environmental specialist. In the water, you are untouchable. On land, you are a slow, massive target that relies on sheer endurance to survive. You need an internship that will teach you how to operate in the concrete jungle, or your career will be limited to coastlines and boat rescues."

Izuku looked down at his desk. Aizawa was entirely right.

That night, Izuku sifted through the massive pile of offers. Selkie, the Sea Rescue Hero, had enthusiastically offered him a spot. It would be easy. It would be comfortable. He could spend a week swimming in the ocean, honing his aquatic dominance.

But Izuku didn't want comfortable. He wanted to be a hero who could save anyone, anywhere.

He found a sleek, gold-embossed envelope near the bottom of the pile. He opened it, and his slitted, emerald eyes widened.

It was an offer from Ryukyu, the Dragoon Hero. The Number Ten Hero in all of Japan.

She's a Transformation-Class, Izuku thought, his mind racing, flipping open his burned notebook. She turns into a massive, winged dragon. She operates directly in the middle of highly populated urban centers without causing collateral damage. She knows how to manage mass. She knows how to manage the beast.

The choice was made.

The Ryukyu Agency was a towering, pristine skyscraper located in the heart of a bustling metropolis. When Izuku arrived in his U.A. uniform, holding his hero costume case, he was incredibly nervous.

He was escorted to the top floor training facility—a massive, reinforced concrete room with ceilings forty feet high.

Standing in the center of the room was Ryuko Tatsuma. She was elegant, wearing a traditional qipao-style dress, her blonde hair styled immaculately, her slitted reptilian eyes studying Izuku with intense, quiet calculation.

"Izuku Midoriya," Ryukyu said, her voice smooth but carrying a subtle, commanding resonance. "I watched your Sports Festival performance. You possess the spirit of a true hero. But your control over your Quirk is, quite frankly, atrocious."

Izuku winced, bowing deeply. "I-I know, Ryukyu-sensei! That's why I chose your agency! I need to learn how to fight in a city without destroying it. If I use my full form, I'll crush buildings. If I use partial shifts, I'm unbalanced and heavy."

Ryukyu smiled softly. "At least you are self-aware. When I first manifested my dragon form, I leveled half of my neighborhood. Being a giant reptile in a world built for humans is a logistical nightmare."

She stepped forward, her eyes glowing a fierce, golden yellow. "The problem, Midoriya, is that you view your Quirk as a binary switch. Human, or fifty-foot Spinosaurus. You have learned to isolate limbs, but you have not learned to compress."

"Compress?" Izuku echoed.

"Mass is energy," Ryukyu explained, walking around him. "Your aquatic biology demands massive bone density and thick armor. When you transform fully, you expand to your natural fifty-foot state. But what if you forced that expansion to stop halfway? What if you took the ten tons of dense bone, muscle, and scale, and compressed it into a frame only seven feet tall?"

Izuku’s eyes widened. "The... the sheer density of the muscle fibers... the weight... it would be agonizing."

"It is," Ryukyu said bluntly. "It feels like your bones are trying to burst through your skin. But the result is a localized, hyper-dense brawler capable of navigating alleyways, moving at extreme speeds on land, and shrugging off artillery fire. I call it the Hybrid Form."

Ryukyu stepped back. Suddenly, her body erupted in golden light. She didn't turn into her massive, building-sized dragon. Instead, she shifted into a terrifying, eight-foot-tall humanoid dragon. Her muscles were coiled like steel cables, her scales impossibly thick. She moved with blinding speed, crossing the training room in a microsecond, her claws stopping an inch from Izuku’s face.

"If you want to survive the city," Ryukyu whispered, her draconian voice vibrating in the air, "you must learn to cage the beast while still wielding its fangs."

For the next four days, Izuku’s life was an agonizing crucible.

The process of Compression was the most painful thing he had ever experienced. It went against his very DNA. The River Tyrant wanted to be massive; it wanted to sprawl and dominate. Forcing the biological shift to halt at seven feet caused his body to rebel.

"Push it down!" Ryukyu commanded as Izuku fell to his knees in the training room, screaming.

His skin was bubbling, cerulean scales overlapping and crushing against one another. His bones thickened to absurd proportions, the marrow condensing. He was dripping with sweat, his heart hammering against his ribs like a machine gun.

"Don't let it expand!" Ryukyu yelled over his roars. "Cage the mass! Bind it to your human skeleton!"

Izuku grit his teeth, blood dripping from his gums as his teeth elongated into serrated daggers. He squeezed his eyes shut, picturing the alleyways. Picturing the people he couldn't reach if he was too big. Picturing Uraraka trapped under the rubble.

Compress!

With a final, sickening CRUNCH, the expansion halted.

Izuku stood up, panting heavily. The concrete floor spider-webbed beneath his feet.

He was seven feet tall. He was bipedal. His legs were reverse-jointed theropod limbs, thick and heavily muscled. His massive tail was shortened to only five feet, dense and heavy, acting as a perfect counterbalance. His arms were humanoid but coated in diamond-hard cerulean scales, ending in four-inch razor talons. His face was a terrifying blend of human and crocodilian—a shortened, heavily armored snout, glowing emerald eyes, and the jagged teeth of a predator.

Running down his back was a compressed version of his dorsal sail, glowing with immense, localized thermal energy, burning off the excess heat his compressed metabolism was generating.

"Excellent," Ryukyu praised, stepping forward. "You weigh roughly two tons in this state. You lack the sheer, skyscraper-toppling leverage of your fifty-foot form, but your density is practically impenetrable. Let's test your speed."

Izuku kicked off the ground. The difference was astronomical. Without the thirty feet of front-heavy mass dragging him down, the explosive power of his dinosaurian legs translated entirely into forward momentum. He crossed the room like a cerulean blur, moving fast enough to break the sound barrier, striking a reinforced punching block and shattering it into dust.

"The Hybrid Form," Izuku rumbled, his voice deep, distorted, and primal.

He had mastered the dry land.

On the fifth day of his internship, Izuku, Ryukyu, and her sidekicks were dispatched to Hosu City for a joint patrol.

Izuku had been quiet on the bullet train. His mind was occupied by Tenya Iida. Iida’s older brother, the Pro-Hero Ingenium, had been brutally crippled by the Hero Killer, Stain, right here in Hosu. When Izuku had seen Iida at the station, the usually rigid, rule-abiding boy had cold, dead eyes.

He's not here for an internship, Izuku realized with a sinking feeling in his gut. He's here for revenge.

As the sun set over Hosu, painting the sky in strokes of bruised purple, chaos erupted.

Izuku and Ryukyu were patrolling the commercial district when a massive explosion rocked the city center. Flames leaped into the sky. Screams echoed through the streets.

"Villain attack!" Ryukyu ordered, immediately shifting into her full, massive dragon form to intercept a burning building. "Midoriya, evacuate the civilians!"

Izuku nodded, sprinting toward the chaos. He kept his human form for maximum agility among the panicking crowds, directing people away from the fires.

As he ran, his hyper-sensitive hearing picked up the sounds of the attackers. Monstrous screeches. The crushing of concrete.

Nomu, Izuku realized, his blood running cold. Just like the USJ.

Suddenly, his phone buzzed. It was a mass message in the Class 1-A group chat. It wasn't text. It was just a location pin.

Sender: Tenya Iida.

Izuku stopped dead in his tracks. He looked at the pin on his map. It was deep in the labyrinthine alleyways of Hosu’s industrial sector, far away from the flaming chaos of the Nomu attack.

He found him, Izuku thought, sheer panic gripping his heart. He found the Hero Killer.

Izuku didn't hesitate. He abandoned the main street, diving into the dark, narrow alleyways.

I need speed. I need the Hybrid.

As he sprinted through the dark corridors of brick and steel, Izuku initiated the shift. The agonizing heat flared in his veins. He didn't stop running. His bones crunched and condensed, his clothes tearing away, replaced by his heavily armored U.A. hero costume. His skin erupted into cerulean scales. He grew to seven feet, his mass condensing into the unstoppable, two-ton juggernaut.

His boots shattered, revealing massive, three-toed talons that dug into the asphalt, propelling him forward at blinding speeds.

He turned the final corner, the smell of blood hitting his highly sensitive olfactory glands like a physical blow.

The alley was dark, illuminated only by a single flickering streetlamp.

Tenya Iida was pinned to the ground, a blade driven through his shoulder. The Pro-Hero Native was slumped against the wall, paralyzed and bleeding.

Standing over Iida was a nightmare of a man. He was wrapped in tattered red scarves, his face masked, wielding a jagged, blood-stained katana. His tongue, impossibly long and grotesque, was hanging from his mouth.

"You are a fake," Stain hissed, raising his blade to plunge it into Iida’s neck. "You care only for your own selfish desires. The word 'Hero' has lost all meaning. Let your death be a lesson—"

Spino-Leviathan: SMASH!

Izuku didn't yell. He didn't announce his presence. He launched himself off the brick wall, crossing the fifty-foot alley in a fraction of a second.

Stain’s eyes widened. His combat instincts, honed through years of slaughter, were terrifyingly sharp. He abandoned his strike on Iida, throwing himself backward just as a massive, cerulean, armored fist slammed into the ground where he had been standing.

The impact cratered the asphalt, sending a shockwave of displaced air that blew Stain’s red scarves wildly around him.

Izuku stood up to his full seven-foot height. The alleyway was incredibly cramped; his broad shoulders nearly brushed the brick walls on either side. He let out a low, guttural growl, steam rising from his glowing, vascular dorsal sail.

"Midoriya?" Iida gasped, tears of pain and frustration in his eyes. "What are you doing here?! Stop! This has nothing to do with you! He's mine!"

"Shut up, Iida," Izuku rumbled, his gravelly, demonic voice shocking the bespectacled boy into silence. Izuku didn't look at his friend. His glowing emerald eyes were locked dead on the Hero Killer. "A true hero doesn't let his friends throw their lives away in the dark."

Stain landed gracefully on the side of a fire escape, clinging to the metal grate like a spider. He stared down at the massive, reptilian beast.

"A monster," Stain whispered, his eyes narrowing. "Or a hero? You moved to protect the weak without hesitation. Your eyes... they are the eyes of a true warrior. Unlike this selfish child."

Stain drew two jagged combat knives from his belt. "But you are in my domain now, beast. I am going to test your conviction. If you are weak, you will bleed."

Stain vanished.

He was impossibly fast. He didn't run; he ricocheted. He bounced off the brick walls, the fire escapes, the dumpsters, moving in a dizzying, three-dimensional blur.

Izuku tracked him. His sensory pits, though designed for water pressure, could feel the microscopic shifts in air currents caused by Stain's movements.

Stain dropped from above, bringing his katana down in a lethal, two-handed strike aimed directly at Izuku’s neck.

Izuku didn't dodge. He merely raised his scaled, armored forearm.

CLANG.

The sound of the forged steel striking Izuku’s compressed, cerulean scales echoed like a bell. Sparks flew into the dark alley. The blade didn't even scratch the armor. The sheer density of the Hybrid Form made Izuku practically bulletproof.

Stain’s eyes widened in genuine surprise. Such dense armor. A brute-force defense.

Izuku capitalized on the shock. He swung his other fist in a devastating uppercut. But Stain was too agile. He twisted his body mid-air, using Izuku’s forearm as a springboard to launch himself backward, avoiding a punch that would have shattered his ribcage.

"You're strong," Stain hissed, landing on a dumpster. "But brute force is meaningless if it cannot connect."

The fight became a claustrophobic nightmare. Izuku was a tank, but the alleyway was his worst enemy. It was too narrow for him to properly utilize his tail for sweeping attacks without hitting Iida or Native. He couldn't unleash his full fifty-foot form because the sheer displacement of mass would instantly crush both of the paralyzed heroes to death beneath his body.

He was forced into a boxing match with a ninja.

Stain danced around him. He struck a dozen times, his blades sparking off Izuku’s chest, arms, and thighs. Izuku swung massive, heavy blows that shattered the brick walls and pulverized the concrete, but Stain was never there when the blows landed.

He's analyzing my armor, Izuku realized, his thermal sail glowing brighter as his frustration mounted. He's looking for a weak point.

Stain vaulted off the wall, diving low. He didn't aim for Izuku’s chest. He aimed for the joint behind Izuku’s knee—the one place where the thick scales had to thin out to allow for mobility.

Izuku pivoted, trying to block, but Stain was too fast. The jagged knife sliced across the thinner skin of the joint.

It was a shallow cut. Barely a scratch. But a drop of red blood welled up on the blade.

Izuku ignored it, spinning around and backhanding Stain. The blow finally clipped the Hero Killer’s shoulder, sending him crashing through a pile of wooden crates.

"Got you," Izuku growled, stepping forward.

But suddenly, his body went entirely rigid.

The heat in his veins vanished, replaced by an agonizing, paralyzing cold. His massive, two-ton body froze mid-step. Gravity took over. Izuku crashed to the asphalt like a felled statue, entirely incapable of moving a single muscle.

He lay there, his emerald eyes wide, staring at the alley wall.

Stain slowly stood up from the shattered crates. He wiped a trickle of blood from his mouth. He held up his combat knife, the single drop of Izuku's blood glistening in the dim light.

Stain extended his long, grotesque tongue and licked the blood off the steel.

"Bloodcurdle," Stain explained, his raspy voice echoing in the quiet alley. "Ingesting the blood of my target paralyzes them. The duration depends on your blood type. For a beast with such impenetrable armor, you were remarkably easy to bleed."

Stain walked past Izuku’s paralyzed body, entirely dismissing him, and stood over Iida once again.

"You fought valiantly," Stain said, looking down at Izuku. "You are a true hero. I will allow you to live. But this child... he is a disease. And the disease must be purged."

"No!" Izuku tried to scream, but only a wet gurgle escaped his heavy jaws. His mind was screaming. Move! Move your arm! Move your tail! Nothing responded.

Suddenly, a massive wall of fire erupted in the alleyway.

Stain leaped backward to avoid being incinerated.

Shoto Todoroki stood at the entrance of the alley, his left side ablaze, his right side frosting the brick walls. He looked at Izuku on the ground, then at Iida, and finally at Stain.

"Midoriya," Todoroki said calmly, though his eyes burned with fierce intensity. "Next time you send a distress signal, include some details."

Todoroki unleashed a barrage of ice and fire, forcing Stain into a desperate evasion game. Todoroki was powerful, but in the tight confines of the alley, he faced the exact same problem Izuku did: he couldn't use his massive, area-of-effect attacks without hitting his paralyzed friends.

Stain exploited this immediately. He danced through the flames, throwing throwing knives that sliced through Todoroki’s cheek and pinned his arm to the wall.

Izuku lay on the ground, watching his friends bleed.

Think! Izuku’s mind raced. He's too fast. The alley is his domain. He has the vertical advantage, the shadows, the mobility. If we stay in this alley, he will kill us all.

I have to change the environment.

Izuku focused on his sensory pits. Behind the alley, over a ten-foot brick wall, he heard it. The rushing, heavy flow of the Hosu municipal canal. It was deep, dark, and ran straight out into the ocean.

A surge of heat rushed back into Izuku’s fingertips.

My blood type is O, Izuku realized. The paralysis time is the shortest.

Stain leaped high into the air, his katana raised, descending toward Todoroki for the killing blow.

Izuku didn't stand up. He exploded off the ground.

He pushed his theropod legs to their absolute breaking point. He moved faster than Stain could process. He intercepted the Hero Killer mid-air, ignoring the katana that plunged deeply into his heavily armored shoulder.

Izuku didn't try to punch him. He wrapped his massive, scaled arms entirely around Stain, pinning the man's arms to his sides in an unbreakable, two-ton bear hug.

"What?!" Stain gasped, the breath knocked from his lungs.

"Todoroki!" Izuku roared, his demonic voice echoing off the buildings. "Protect Iida!"

Izuku hit the ground, but he didn't stop. He engaged his legs, driving forward with the unstoppable momentum of a freight train. He carried Stain across the alley, aiming directly for the ten-foot brick wall that separated them from the canal.

"Let go of me, beast!" Stain yelled, struggling violently, trying to bite, trying to stab, but his arms were trapped against his sides.

"We're fighting in my arena now," Izuku growled.

CRASH.

Izuku pulverized the brick wall. The two of them plummeted over the edge, falling twenty feet into the darkness.

With a massive, geyser-like splash, they hit the freezing waters of the Hosu canal.

The transition was instantaneous.

For Stain, the world became a nightmare of sensory deprivation. The chaotic, fire-lit alleyway was gone. Now, there was only the freezing, murky, pitch-black water. The current of the canal was terrifyingly strong, pulling him under. He couldn't breathe. He couldn't see. His scarves, once his greatest tool for mobility, became heavy and dragged him deeper.

Stain panicked. He kicked his legs, trying to swim to the surface.

For Izuku, the water was paradise.

The moment he hit the canal, he felt the crushing weight of gravity lift from his bones. The pain in his compressed joints vanished. He didn't even need to shift out of his Hybrid Form; his dense anatomy was perfectly buoyant.

The murky darkness of the canal wasn't a hindrance. To Izuku, it was illuminated perfectly. His nictitating membranes slid over his eyes, his emerald pupils dilating to absorb the ambient light. His sensory pits mapped the exact location of Stain, thrashing helplessly ten feet above him.

Izuku was no longer a brawler trapped in an alley. He was the apex predator of the deep.

Stain broke the surface, gasping for air, the cold water entering his lungs. He looked around frantically. "Where... where is it?!"

Silence.

Then, he felt the water pressure shift.

Something moved past him in the dark, brushing against his leg. It was incredibly fast, impossibly smooth.

Stain drew his knife, thrusting wildly into the water. "Show yourself!"

From the depths beneath him, two glowing, emerald eyes ignited in the darkness. They were large, slitted, and radiated a pure, primordial malice.

Before Stain could react, the water exploded.

Izuku surged upward, his speed underwater dwarfing even Stain's agility in the alley. Izuku’s massive jaws opened, not to bite, but to ram. His armored snout struck Stain in the chest with the force of a battering ram.

The Hero Killer was launched entirely out of the water, flying fifteen feet into the air, gasping in agony as three of his ribs fractured instantly.

Stain fell back into the water with a heavy splash, completely disoriented. He tried to swing his sword, but the drag of the water made his movements sluggish and pathetic. He was the most lethal close-quarters combatant in Japan, but here, in the river, he was a child flailing in the dark.

Izuku didn't give him a second to breathe. He swam in tight, blindingly fast circles around Stain, creating a localized vortex that pulled the Hero Killer under again.

Stain was drowning. His lungs burned. He lashed out with his sword.

Izuku darted in, his reflexes perfectly attuned to the hydrodynamic drag of the blade. He caught Stain’s wrist in one massive, scaled hand. With a precise, delicate squeeze, Izuku shattered the bones in Stain's wrist.

The katana slipped from Stain’s fingers, sinking uselessly into the dark abyss of the canal.

Stain stared at the monstrous face of the Spinosaurus floating right in front of him. In the dim, underwater light, Izuku’s expression was terrifyingly calm. This was his world. This was his domain.

Izuku grabbed the collar of Stain’s combat vest. With a powerful sweep of his tail, Izuku propelled them both toward the surface.

They burst from the water, landing heavily on the concrete embankment bordering the canal.

Stain hit the ground, coughing violently, hacking up river water and blood. He tried to crawl backward, his broken wrist hanging uselessly at his side. He looked up, entirely defeated.

Looming over him, water cascading from his massive cerulean scales and glowing dorsal sail, stood Izuku Midoriya. The Hybrid Form was terrifying in the pale moonlight.

"You... you pulled me into the water," Stain coughed, his eyes wide with a mixture of terror and profound respect. "You sacrificed your advantage of numbers... to strip away my mobility. You lured me into the River Styx."

Izuku took a heavy step forward, the water pooling around his three-toed talons. His emerald eyes burned down at the Hero Killer.

"You talk a lot about fake heroes, Stain," Izuku rumbled, his deep voice vibrating in the night air. "You judge who is worthy to live and who is worthy to die. But you're just a murderer who targets people when they're trapped."

Izuku reached down, wrapping his massive, armored hand around Stain’s throat. He lifted the terrifying villain off the ground effortlessly.

"No one dies tonight," Izuku whispered.

With a swift, calculated strike, Izuku brought his other hand down in a chop against the side of Stain’s neck. The Hero Killer's eyes rolled back in his head, and his body went entirely limp.

Izuku dropped him onto the concrete. The fight was over.

A moment later, Izuku heard the sound of footsteps above. He looked up to the shattered brick wall. Todoroki and Iida were looking down at the canal bank, their eyes wide with shock. Native was leaning heavily on Todoroki’s shoulder.

"Midoriya!" Todoroki called out. "Did you..."

Izuku let out a long, exhausted sigh. The adrenaline that had sustained him began to fade. The immense, agonizing pain of the Hybrid compression returned in full force, coupled with the deep stab wound in his shoulder.

Steam began to violently pour off his body as he released the compression.

He didn't expand to fifty feet; he let the Quirk go entirely. The scales dissolved, the bones snapped back to human proportions, and the massive sail receded into his spine.

Izuku collapsed onto the concrete, a bruised, bleeding, heavily scarred human teenager. He lay next to the unconscious body of the most feared serial killer in the country, shivering in the cold night air.

He looked up at the stars above Hosu City, a faint, tired smile crossing his lips.

He had done it. He had caged the beast, adapted to the dry land, and when the moment required it, he had dragged the devil into the deep.

The River Tyrant didn't just rule the water anymore. He had become the absolute apex of both worlds.
