What If Deku Had an Overpowered Allosaurus Quirk for Ambush Predator Strikes

The forest behind the Midoriya apartment complex was supposed to be a place for children’s games. Dappled sunlight filtered through the canopy of oak and maple, casting long, swaying shadows across the mossy earth. The air was thick with the scent of damp soil, crushed pine needles, and the innocent, metallic tang of sweat from children running themselves to exhaustion.

It was mid-summer. Four-year-old Izuku Midoriya was currently losing at hide-and-seek.

Katsuki Bakugo, already a boisterous force of nature, had loudly declared himself the hunter. His explosive Quirk hadn't manifested yet, but his aggressive confidence made him the natural alpha of the neighborhood children. He was counting by the old oak tree, his voice carrying through the quiet woods.

Izuku, small and round-cheeked, scurried behind a thick blackberry bush. His heart was hammering against his ribs like a trapped bird. He’s going to find me, Izuku thought, panic bubbling in his chest. Kacchan always finds me. He’s too loud. I’m too loud.

Izuku looked down at his own trembling hands. He could hear his own breathing, loud and ragged in his ears. He wanted to be quiet. He needed to be silent. He squeezed his eyes shut, a desperate, childish wish echoing in his mind: I want to be a shadow. I want to be so fast he can’t see me. I want to win.

Deep within his genetic code, something ancient and terrible answered.

It started as a warmth in his chest, a strange, thrumming vibration that resonated down his spine. The sensation wasn't painful, but it was absolute. His bones felt suddenly hot, as if molten lead was being poured through his marrow. Izuku gasped, but the sound didn't leave his throat. His vocal cords were shifting, thickening.

When he opened his eyes, the world had changed.

The vibrant greens and browns of the forest had faded, replaced by a hyper-detailed spectrum of heat and movement. He could see the bright, pulsating red-orange silhouette of a squirrel three trees away. And he could see Katsuki. The blond boy was a beacon of blazing thermal energy, standing fifty feet away, his mouth moving. Izuku realized with a start that he could hear Katsuki’s heartbeat. It was a rhythmic, drumming sound, pulsing with adrenaline.

Izuku looked down at his hands again. They were no longer the soft, chubby hands of a toddler. His skin had hardened into micro-scales, a deep, shimmering emerald green mottled with dark, forest-floor brown. His fingers had elongated, capped with wickedly sharp, curved talons of obsidian black.

He didn't scream. Strangely, a profound sense of calm washed over him. The frantic, nervous energy of little Izuku Midoriya was swallowed by a cold, calculating stillness. It was the absolute serenity of the apex predator.

“Ready or not, here I come!” Katsuki shouted, stomping into the brush.

Izuku’s new instincts took over. He didn't stand up. Instead, his legs—now reverse-jointed and packed with dense, coiled muscle—shifted his weight. He felt an overwhelming urge to move, not to run away, but to close the distance.

Katsuki marched past the blackberry bush, looking the wrong way.

In a blur of motion too fast for a human eye to track, Izuku launched himself. He didn't make a sound. The wind didn't even have time to rustle the leaves. It was less of a jump and more of a teleportation.

Katsuki barely had time to turn his head as a shadow blotted out the sun.

Thump.

Katsuki hit the dirt, the breath knocked completely out of his lungs. He blinked away the shock, staring up. Pinning him to the ground was a monster. It was roughly his size, but built of lean, corded muscle and green scales. A long, heavy tail whipped back and forth, keeping the creature perfectly balanced. The creature's face was a terrifying mix of human and reptile—an elongated jaw lined with razor-sharp teeth, and eyes that were pools of liquid gold with vertical slit pupils.

One three-clawed hand rested gently on Katsuki’s chest. It wasn't pressing hard enough to hurt, but the sheer weight and implication of the hold was paralyzing.

The creature blinked. The golden eyes widened, the slit pupils dilating into round, human-like circles. The scales began to ripple, losing their color, melting back into soft, pale skin. The jaw shortened. The tail dissolved into vapor.

Within seconds, a naked, crying Izuku Midoriya was sitting on top of Katsuki, clutching his chest. "I-I'm sorry! Kacchan, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!"

Katsuki didn't say anything for a long time. He just stared up at the trembling, sobbing boy who had crossed fifty feet of forest in a microsecond and pinned him without making a single sound. Katsuki’s heart was hammering, but it wasn't just fear. It was awe.

Katsuki sat up, pushing Izuku off him gently—a rare gesture of restraint. He looked at Izuku, a wild, fierce grin spreading across his face.

"Deku..." Katsuki whispered, a new, entirely different weight to the nickname. "What the hell was that? Do it again."

That day, the dynamic changed. Izuku wasn't a weakling to be bullied. He was a sleeping dragon, a terrifying rival that Katsuki swore to surpass.

Ten years later, Izuku Midoriya was doing his best to pretend he was normal.

He stood in the middle of a bustling Tokyo intersection, waiting for the light to change. To the casual observer, Izuku looked like a heavily built, somewhat intimidating middle schooler. He wore an oversized, dark green hoodie that swallowed his frame, the hood pulled up low over his messy mop of green curls. Baggy cargo pants obscured the shape of his legs, and thick, heavy-duty combat boots weighed down his feet.

He looked like a delinquent, but the reality was far more complicated.

Underneath the oversized clothing, Izuku was wearing roughly sixty pounds of dense, lead-lined fabric. He wore it everywhere. He wore it to school, he wore it to the grocery store, and he wore it to sleep. It wasn't a training weight, not in the traditional sense. It was an anchor.

His Quirk, officially registered as Apex Allosaurus, was a constant, thrumming presence in his mind. He called it "the Beast." It wasn't a separate personality—it was just his own primal instincts, dialed up to a thousand. The Allosaurus was one of history’s most perfectly evolved ambush predators. It didn't rely on the brute, overwhelming bite force of a Tyrannosaurus Rex; it relied on stealth, speed, and the element of surprise, delivering lethal, surgical strikes before the prey even knew it was being hunted.

Izuku’s mutation took that prehistoric blueprint and amplified it to a terrifying degree. His base physical strength, even when not transformed, was immense. If he didn't wear the weighted clothes, he ran the risk of accidentally shattering the pavement with every step. Furthermore, the thick clothing served to muffle his movements. Without them, his body naturally fell into a silent, predatory gait. It made people intensely uncomfortable when a fourteen-year-old boy simply appeared behind them without making a sound.

Breathe in. Breathe out, Izuku thought, closing his eyes as the pedestrian signal beeped.

The sensory overload of the city was always the hardest part. The Beast loved the city. So many smells. He could smell the stale coffee on the breath of the salaryman next to him; the faint, metallic scent of ozone from a distant transformer; the sharp, sour tang of fear radiating from a stray cat hiding in a nearby alley. If he focused, he could hear the rhythmic, erratic heartbeats of a hundred different people around him.

He forced it all down, clutching the straps of his bright yellow backpack. He was a fanboy. He was a hero nerd. He was Izuku.

The light turned green. The crowd surged forward. Izuku kept his head down, taking slow, deliberate, heavy steps.

"Hey, Deku!"

Izuku paused. The crowd parted around a familiar, spiky-haired blond walking in the opposite direction. Katsuki Bakugo wore his school uniform with the top buttons undone, his hands shoved deep into his pockets. He glared at Izuku, a familiar smirk playing on his lips.

Over the years, their relationship had become strange. Katsuki was aggressive, loud, and constantly challenging Izuku to fights, which Izuku usually avoided by simply fading into the background. But there was no bullying. No teasing. Katsuki knew exactly what Izuku was capable of. They had sparred in secret a few times over the years. Every time, it ended the same way: Katsuki raining down explosions in a blind rage, only to find himself pinned to the earth in a microsecond, a razor-sharp claw resting against his jugular.

"Morning, Kacchan," Izuku mumbled softly, his voice a deep, gravelly baritone that hadn't quite smoothed out since puberty.

"You going to the U.A. entrance exam today?" Katsuki demanded, ignoring the pleasantries.

"Yeah. My mom made katsudon for breakfast, so... I feel pretty good about it."

"You better not hold back," Katsuki growled, stepping closer. The smell of nitroglycerin and burnt sugar radiated off him. "I swear to God, Deku, if you go in there and do that creepy, half-assed stealth crap, I'll kill you myself. I want you in the hero course. I want you at your best. Because when I finally beat you, I want no excuses."

Izuku offered a small, awkward smile. "I'll do my best, Kacchan."

"Tch. Whatever, lizard-brain." Katsuki shoved past him, his shoulder bumping Izuku’s chest. It was like bumping into a concrete pillar. Katsuki didn't flinch, just kept walking.

Izuku watched him go for a moment, letting the Beast’s low, rumbling growl fade from the back of his throat. He adjusted his heavy backpack and continued toward the train station. Today was the day. U.A. High School. The pinnacle of hero education.

As he walked, his mind drifted back to a few months ago. The Sludge Villain incident. Katsuki had been captured. Pro heroes like Death Arms and Kamui Woods had stood around, useless, waiting for someone with the right Quirk to act.

Izuku hadn't waited.

The memory was still a blur. The smell of Katsuki’s fear had triggered a predatory reflex so strong it had bypassed his conscious thought. He had dropped his backpack. The heavy, weighted clothes hadn't mattered. He had undergone a Partial Shift—his legs transforming into massive, digitigrade theropod limbs, his skin rippling with active camouflage scales that bent the light around him.

He had vanished from the crowd.

To the onlookers, and even to the Sludge Villain, it looked like a gust of wind had simply blown through the alley. One second the villain was suffocating Katsuki, the next, a massive, invisible force slammed into the sludge. Izuku’s claws, superheated by friction and kinetic energy, had torn through the villain’s liquid body, seeking the solid mass of the eyes. He had pinned the villain to the brick wall, his jaw extended, a guttural, demonic hiss vibrating the glass of the nearby windows.

All Might had arrived a second later, blowing the villain away with a Texas Smash, but not before seeing Izuku.

Afterward, the pros had scolded Izuku for acting recklessly. But All Might had pulled him aside in an alleyway. The Symbol of Peace, looking deflated and exhausted, had stared at the boy who possessed a Quirk more terrifying than most villains.

“You didn't hesitate,” All Might had said, coughing up a bit of blood. “Young man, your Quirk is… fearsome. But a Quirk does not make a hero. The heart does. When everyone else froze, you moved. You have the heart of a true hero.”

Izuku touched his chest, feeling the steady, slow rhythm of his heart. All Might hadn't offered him a power—he hadn't needed to. Izuku already had more power than he knew what to do with. What All Might had given him was validation. Society looked at Izuku’s Quirk and saw a monster. All Might had looked at him and seen a savior.

He was going to U.A. He was going to learn how to leash the Beast, how to use his terrifying nature to make the innocent feel safe, and the wicked feel fear.

The towering H-shaped gates of U.A. High School gleamed in the morning sun. Thousands of students milled about, chattering nervously, comparing Quirks, and mentally preparing themselves for the grueling exam ahead.

Izuku stood at the edge of the crowd, keeping to himself. He had taken off his weighted hoodie, leaving him in a simple, fitted black athletic shirt and loose tactical pants. Without the weights, he felt impossibly light. Gravity felt like a suggestion rather than a law. Every muscle in his legs felt like a coiled spring, vibrating with kinetic potential.

As he walked toward the main auditorium, his heightened senses were bombarded. Too many voices, too many smells. He closed his eyes, focusing on controlling his breathing. Inhale... two, three, four. Exhale... two, three, four.

"Whoa!"

A sudden gasp broke his concentration. He opened his eyes, his pupils instinctively narrowing into slits. A girl with a brown bob and a permanent blush on her cheeks had tripped over an uneven paving stone. She was falling forward, bracing for an impact against the concrete.

Before conscious thought could intervene, the Beast reacted to the sudden movement.

Prey falling. Intercept.

Izuku’s right leg shifted slightly. Micro-scales rippled across his calf, the muscle expanding and hardening for a fraction of a second.

Crack.

A tiny spiderweb fracture appeared in the concrete beneath his heel. Izuku crossed the ten feet between them in less than a tenth of a second. He caught the girl by the shoulders, his grip firm but incredibly gentle, freezing her momentum mid-air.

The girl gasped, suspended at a forty-five-degree angle. She looked up, her wide, brown eyes meeting Izuku's.

"A-Are you okay?" Izuku asked, his voice cracking slightly as the predatory instinct faded, replaced immediately by the intense, paralyzing social anxiety of a teenage boy holding a pretty girl. He rapidly blinked, his pupils returning to their normal, round shape.

"I... you..." She blinked, looking around wildly. "How did you get here so fast? I didn't even see you move!"

Izuku carefully stood her upright and immediately took a step back, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. "O-Oh, um, my Quirk. It makes me a little fast. S-Sorry if I scared you! I should have let you fall—I mean, not let you fall! I just, I moved without thinking!"

The girl broke into a bright, sunny smile. "No, thank you! I'm Ochaco Uraraka. I guess I'm a little nervous. That would have been a bad omen, right? Falling before the exam even starts!"

Izuku felt a blush creep up his neck. "I-I'm Izuku Midoriya. Good luck, Uraraka-san."

"You too, Midoriya-kun! You seem really strong!" She waved cheerfully, jogging off toward the entrance.

Izuku watched her go, a small, dopey smile on his face. I talked to a girl. The Beast didn't growl. I held a conversation. He pumped his fist quietly. Today is going to be a good day.

The written portion of the exam was a breeze. Izuku had spent his entire life analyzing Quirks, physics, and hero law. He breezed through the mathematics and essay questions, his mind sharp and focused.

But as he sat in the massive, darkened auditorium listening to the Voice Hero: Present Mic explain the practical exam, the Beast began to stir.

"...AND YOU’LL BE DROPPED INTO A MASSIVE FAKE CITY! YOU’LL HAVE TEN MINUTES TO WRECK AS MANY VILLAIN BOTS AS YOU CAN! THEY COME IN ONE-POINTER, TWO-POINTER, AND THREE-POINTER VARIETIES!" Present Mic screamed, striking a pose that made the speakers whine with feedback. "IT’S A FREE-FOR-ALL! NO HOLDING BACK!"

Izuku gripped his knees. He hated loud noises. His eardrums were highly sensitive. He subtly shifted his internal structure, thickening the cartilage around his inner ear to muffle the sound.

A tall, bespectacled boy with blue hair suddenly stood up under a spotlight, chopping his arm rigidly. "Sir! The printout lists four types of villains! If this is a misprint, it is deeply shameful for U.A., the top hero academy in Japan! Furthermore, you, the boy with the curly hair!"

The spotlight violently swung over to Izuku.

Izuku froze.

"You have been muttering this entire time! It is distracting and disrespectful to those of us trying to take this seriously! If you are here for a pleasure trip, I suggest you leave immediately!"

The entire auditorium turned to stare at Izuku. A few kids snickered.

Izuku felt a sudden, familiar spike of heat in his chest. His heart rate slowed to a crawl. The blood rushed from his face, and his eyes locked onto the blue-haired boy. The Beast didn't like being challenged. It didn't like being called out. It perceived the loud boy as a threat, or worse, as competition.

For a split second, Izuku didn't see a fellow student. Through his thermal vision, he saw a glowing red, pulsing target. The distance was exactly eighty-six feet. The trajectory would require a leap over four rows of seats. He could clear it in 0.8 seconds. He could pin the boy by his throat and crush his vocal cords before Present Mic could even raise his microphone.

Izuku squeezed his eyes shut and violently bit his own tongue. The sharp pain grounded him. The copper taste of blood flooded his mouth, settling the predatory urge.

He bowed his head deeply. "I-I'm sorry. I was just taking notes. I'll be quiet."

The blue-haired boy huffed, adjusting his glasses. "See that you do."

Present Mic quickly defused the tension, explaining that the fourth robot was a Zero Pointer—a massive obstacle meant to be avoided. Izuku barely listened. He swallowed the blood in his mouth, his mind racing. Control. Control. You are Izuku Midoriya. You are not a monster.

But as he walked out to the bus that would take them to Ground Beta, he looked at his hands. The skin was pale, human, and fragile. He knew that when those gates opened, human wouldn't be enough. He would have to let the Beast off the leash. Just a little.

Ground Beta was an architectural marvel. It was a fully realized, sprawling metropolis complete with towering skyscrapers, intricate alleyways, multi-level parking garages, and wide intersections.

Dozens of hopeful students were gathered at the massive metal gates, stretching, shouting, and hyping themselves up. Izuku stood at the very back of the pack. He took deep, measured breaths. He was analyzing the wind direction, the ambient temperature, the shadows cast by the buildings.

He could smell oil. Hydraulics. Ozone. The metallic, soulless scent of the robots waiting inside.

"Hey, you."

Izuku opened his eyes. The blue-haired boy, the one who had yelled at him in the auditorium, was marching over. He looked angry. "I saw you looking at the nice girl from the entrance. Are you planning to sabotage her? This is a holy ground of heroics! Your lack of focus is—"

Izuku didn't say a word. He just turned his head and looked at the boy.

He didn't activate his Quirk, not fully. But he let the human disguise slip just a fraction. His emerald eyes caught the light, the pupils snapping from round dots into razor-thin vertical slits. The ambient temperature around Izuku seemed to drop. The aura of a harmless, muttering nerd evaporated instantly, replaced by an overwhelming, suffocating presence of absolute lethality.

The blue-haired boy froze mid-sentence. The words died in his throat. His instincts, evolved over millions of years to keep early humans alive in the dark, screamed at him to stop moving. Do not attract its attention. Play dead. The boy took an involuntary step back, a cold sweat breaking out on his forehead.

Izuku blinked, and the pressure vanished. His eyes returned to normal. "I'm not going to sabotage anyone," Izuku said quietly, his voice polite but firm. "I'm just focusing."

Before the boy could respond, Present Mic’s voice boomed from speakers hidden along the wall.

"RIGHT, LET’S START! WHAT’S WRONG? THERE ARE NO COUNTDOWNS IN REAL BATTLES! RUN, RUN, RUN!"

The gates ground open. The mass of students hesitated for a second, confused by the lack of a countdown, before surging forward like a stampeding herd, screaming battle cries as they charged into the main street.

Izuku didn't run with them.

He watched them flood the central avenue, loud and messy. They were drawing attention. They were playing exactly the way the robots were programmed to expect.

Izuku backed up to the massive, sixty-foot concrete wall that surrounded the arena. He closed his eyes. Time to hunt.

He let the Quirk flood his system. The transformation was instantaneous and entirely silent.

His boots tore apart as his feet elongated, shifting into massive, three-toed theropod claws covered in thick, heavily armored dark green scales. The muscles in his calves and thighs swelled to three times their normal size, reverse-jointed and packed with explosive kinetic potential. A heavy, muscular tail, lined with osteoderms, extruded from the base of his spine, whipping out to balance his new, forward-leaning posture.

His hands shifted, fingers lengthening into wicked, curved scythes. His jaw pushed forward, elongating slightly as his teeth sharpened into serrated daggers. He didn't fully transform his face or torso, opting for a highly compressed, bipedal hybrid form.

Then, his scales rippled.

The chromatophores in his skin activated, bending light and matching the exact color and texture of the concrete wall behind him. To the naked eye, Izuku Midoriya simply vanished.

In the observation room high above the city, a panel of pro heroes sat before a wall of monitors, holding clipboards and evaluating the examinees.

"We've got a good crop this year," Midnight purred, crossing her legs as she watched Katsuki Bakugo obliterate a three-pointer with a massive explosion. "That blonde boy is ruthless. Good combat instincts."

"Agreed," Snipe muttered, his masked face tilted toward another screen. "The gravity girl is using the environment well. And that kid with the engines in his legs is moving with military precision."

A tired, rumpled man in a yellow sleeping bag sat in the corner, staring intently at a monitor displaying the entrance gate. Shota Aizawa frowned. "Where did examinee 7111 go?"

"Midoriya, Izuku?" Principal Nezu, a small, white animal in a suit, pressed a button, bringing up Izuku’s file. "Ah. Quirk: Apex Allosaurus. A transformation type. Remarkable physical specs on paper."

"He's not on any of the street cameras," Aizawa noted, leaning forward. "Did he not enter the arena?"

"Wait," Power Loader pointed to a thermal camera feed tracking the upper levels of the city. "Look at the side of Building C."

On the thermal screen, a glowing, massive heat signature was rocketing vertically up the side of a glass-and-steel skyscraper. It wasn't climbing; it was leaping. In a series of impossibly fast, ricocheting jumps, the heat signature scaled forty stories in less than five seconds.

"He's on the roof," Aizawa muttered, his eyes narrowing. "Switch to optical."

The screen switched to a normal camera view of the rooftop. There was nothing there. Just an empty gravel roof and an air conditioning unit.

"Invisibility?" Midnight asked, confused. "His file says dinosaur mutation."

"Active camouflage," Nezu said, clapping his paws together in delight. "Like a chameleon or a cuttlefish. Oh, how fascinating! He's using the high ground. Watch."

Down in the city, a group of five robots—three One-Pointers and two Three-Pointers—were rumbling down a narrow side street, tracking the noise of the students on the main avenue. They beeped, their red optical sensors scanning the alleys.

Two hundred feet above them, perched on the edge of the roof, the air seemed to shimmer.

Izuku looked down, his golden, slit-pupil eyes piercing through the camouflage. He could see the heat radiating from the engines in the robots’ chests. His internal computer, fueled by millions of years of predatory evolution, calculated the wind speed, the distance, and the angle of descent.

He didn't roar. He didn't make a sound.

He simply stepped off the edge.

Gravity took him, but his streamlined form cut through the air with minimal resistance. He plummeted in absolute silence.

Fifty feet above the robots, he shifted his weight. His massive legs coiled.

Impact.

Izuku landed directly on the head of the lead Three-Pointer. The kinetic force of his descent, combined with his immense physical weight, instantly crushed the robot's cranium into a pancake of sparking metal. Before the machine even hit the ground, Izuku’s legs exploded like a cannon.

Using the crushed head of the first robot as a springboard, he launched himself horizontally into the chest of the second Three-Pointer. His three-clawed hand lashed out, tearing through reinforced steel plating like it was wet tissue paper. He ripped the main power core out of the robot's chest and tossed it aside in a single, fluid motion.

The three One-Pointers finally registered the threat, their turrets swiveling to aim at the shimmering, translucent shape moving among them.

Izuku hit the ground, his tail whipping around to shatter the legs of the first One-Pointer. He dropped to all fours, moving with the terrifying, scuttling speed of a monitor lizard. He darted under the second One-Pointer, his jaw snapping out to crush its central axle. He bounded off a nearby wall, spinning in mid-air, and brought both of his heavy, booted legs down on the final robot, crushing it flat.

The entire engagement took less than four seconds.

Five robots lay in pieces, sparking and smoking.

Izuku stood among the wreckage. His camouflage rippled, turning to match the dark asphalt of the alleyway. He took a deep breath, smelling the smoke and the distant, metallic scent of more prey. His powerful legs coiled, and in a blur of motion, he leapt thirty feet into the air, vanishing into the shadows of a fire escape.

Up in the observation room, there was dead silence.

"Did... did anyone catch exactly what happened?" Snipe asked, rewinding the footage. Even in slow motion, the attack was a blur of green scales and shattered metal.

"Zero wasted movement," Aizawa said, a rare smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. "No battle cries. No flashy attacks. He neutralized five targets before they could even send a distress signal to the network. He’s hunting."

"He has thirty-two points already," Midnight noted, checking the scoreboard. "And he hasn't been spotted by a single other student. He's treating the exam like a stealth mission."

"Because he is a predator," Nezu said softly. "A predator does not engage in a fair fight. A predator strikes when it has the absolute advantage, secures the kill, and retreats to the shadows. It is highly efficient, but..." Nezu paused, looking at a large red button on his console. "Let us see how the hunter handles a force of nature."

Nezu pressed the button.

Izuku was perched on a gargoyle overlooking the central plaza. His score was somewhere around sixty-five. He had stopped counting after he dismantled a group of Two-Pointers in a parking garage.

He felt a deep, thrumming satisfaction in his chest. The Beast was purring. This was what he was meant for. The stalking, the calculation, the explosive release of power. He felt entirely in his element. He hadn't taken a single scratch.

Suddenly, the ground trembled.

Izuku’s claws dug into the stone of the gargoyle. He tasted the air, his tongue flicking out. Dust. Concrete dust, and a massive, overwhelming wave of heat approaching from the north.

A shadow fell over the city.

The buildings at the end of the main street exploded outward. Glass shattered, raining down like deadly hail. From the dust and debris, a colossal machine emerged. It was easily the size of a skyscraper, moving on massive, treaded wheels. Its sheer size was apocalyptic.

The Zero Pointer.

The students in the plaza below screamed, turning and running in the opposite direction.

"Less than two minutes remaining!" Present Mic’s voice echoed over the PA system.

Izuku stood up on the gargoyle, dropping his camouflage. His green scales glinted in the sunlight. He analyzed the Zero Pointer. It was too big. The armor plating was too thick. His claws wouldn't penetrate deep enough to hit a vital system, and his physical weight, even fully shifted, wouldn't be enough to topple it.

Flee, the Beast whispered in his mind. Too large. Not prey. Flee.

Izuku agreed. He tensed his legs, preparing to leap across the rooftops and extract himself from the combat zone.

"Ow! Please, somebody!"

Izuku’s ears twitched. His head snapped down.

Through the dust and the fleeing crowd, his thermal vision picked up a small, stationary heat signature trapped near the base of the Zero Pointer’s treads. He zoomed in.

It was the girl. Uraraka. A massive chunk of rubble had pinned her leg to the ground. The Zero Pointer was slowly advancing, its massive treads threatening to crush her flat in less than thirty seconds.

The other students were running right past her. Even the loud, blue-haired boy was sprinting away, looking back with a horrified expression but continuing to retreat.

Izuku’s heart stopped.

The Beast screamed at him to run. Survival was the only law.

Izuku Midoriya closed his eyes. No. I am not a beast. I am a hero.

When he opened his eyes, the golden slit pupils were gone, replaced by a burning, blinding emerald green. He didn't suppress the Beast; he grabbed it by the throat and forced it to obey his will.

Izuku stepped off the gargoyle.

As he fell toward the street, he unleashed everything.

"FULL SHIFT."

The transformation was violent, visceral, and awe-inspiring. His human form rapidly expanded, bones cracking and elongating with sickening, explosive speed. The dark green hoodie and pants he wore underneath his tactical gear shredded into confetti as his mass quadrupled in a fraction of a second.

He didn't hit the ground as a boy. He hit the ground as a thirty-foot-long, four-ton apex predator of the Jurassic era.

Concrete shattered in a fifty-foot crater as the massive Allosaurus landed. He was breathtaking to behold. His scales were a shimmering, iridescent dark green, armored with thick osteoderms along his spine. His skull was massive, featuring two jagged crests above his eyes. Unlike the bulky, lumbering T-Rex, his body was sleek, built like a prehistoric greyhound. His arms, though shorter than his legs, were heavily muscled and ended in foot-long, scythe-like talons.

He let out a roar.

It wasn't a mammalian roar. It was a terrifying, guttural, low-frequency rumble that vibrated through the chests of everyone within a mile radius, followed by a deafening, metallic shriek that sounded like tearing steel. The sound alone shattered the remaining windows in the plaza.

The fleeing students froze, turning around in absolute terror.

Uraraka, trapped under the rubble, squeezed her eyes shut, crying, expecting to be eaten.

The Zero Pointer, registering the massive new obstacle, raised a colossal, hydraulic arm to swat the dinosaur away.

Izuku didn't give it the chance.

His massive, reverse-jointed legs, capable of propelling a four-ton body at forty miles per hour, coiled tight. The ground beneath him liquefied under the sheer pressure.

With a concussive BOOM that broke the sound barrier, Izuku launched himself directly at the towering robot.

He didn't aim for the chest. He aimed for the joint.

Flying through the air at bullet-like speeds, Izuku twisted his massive body. He landed squarely on the robot’s extended arm. His talons sank deep into the metal, finding purchase. He sprinted up the arm of the colossal machine, defying gravity through pure momentum and speed.

The robot’s sensors couldn't track him. He was moving too fast for something so massive.

Izuku reached the shoulder joint—the neck of the machine. He opened his massive jaws. The bite force of an Allosaurus was historically weak compared to its peers, designed to be used like a hatchet. But Izuku’s Quirk was Apex. His jaw muscles bulged, reinforced with dense, mutated fibers.

He struck like a viper.

His jaws clamped down on the thick hydraulic cables and reinforced steel column connecting the robot's head to its torso. The bite force was measured at nearly fifty tons per square inch.

Metal shrieked. Sparks cascaded like a waterfall.

Izuku didn't just bite; he used his momentum. Clamping down with unbreakable force, he kicked off the robot's chest with his massive legs, throwing his entire four-ton body weight backward into a violent, twisting death roll.

CRUNCH.

The sound of the Zero Pointer’s neck snapping echoed across the artificial city. The massive, house-sized head of the robot was ripped clean off its chassis, trailing sparking wires and hydraulic fluid.

Izuku let go of the head, letting it plummet to the street below, missing Uraraka by a wide margin.

The headless body of the Zero Pointer sparked, shuddered, and slowly tipped backward, crashing into the buildings behind it in a monumental cloud of dust and fire.

Izuku landed gracefully on the street, his massive tail swinging out to counterbalance the impact. The earth shook as he touched down.

Silence fell over Ground Beta. The only sound was the crackle of fire and the hiss of broken hydraulics.

The remaining students stared, their mouths hanging open in sheer disbelief. A dinosaur. A literal dinosaur had just decapitated a building-sized robot in a matter of seconds.

Izuku stood over Uraraka. The massive beast lowered its terrifying, crested head, its jaws still dripping with black oil.

Uraraka trembled, looking up into the glowing golden eyes of the monster.

The dinosaur blinked. The eyes softened.

Slowly, steam began to rise from the creature's scales. The massive body began to shrink, compressing in on itself. The scales melted into skin, the tail retracted, and the jaw shortened.

Within seconds, a heavily muscled, completely naked teenage boy was kneeling beside her, his face bright red.

Izuku frantically covered his lower half with a large, flat piece of metal debris. "I-I'm so sorry!" he stammered, his voice cracking violently. "My clothes got shredded in the Full Shift! Are you okay? Does your leg hurt?"

Uraraka stared at the stuttering, blushing, naked boy holding a piece of scrap metal like a shield. Her brain short-circuited.

"Y-You..." She pointed at him, then at the headless robot, then back to him.

"TIME’S UP!" Present Mic’s voice blared over the speakers.

Izuku let out a massive sigh of relief, slumping his shoulders. "Oh, thank goodness." He looked down at the rubble pinning her leg. He reached out with one hand—not shifting, just using his base human strength—and casually flipped the thousand-pound chunk of concrete off her leg as if it were made of styrofoam.

"Can you walk?" he asked gently.

Uraraka nodded numbly.

In the observation room, the silence was palpable.

No one spoke. Snipe’s jaw was slack beneath his mask. Midnight was staring at the monitor with wide eyes.

Finally, Aizawa let out a low whistle. "A 50-ton bite force, incredible mobility, active camouflage, and the instincts of a master assassin." He turned to Nezu. "He destroyed the Zero Pointer to save a single student, exposing himself completely."

Nezu smiled, his beady eyes gleaming with pride. "He has the power of a monster, but the heart of a savior. A perfect combination."

In the back of the room, standing in the shadows, a skeletal blond man coughed into a handkerchief. Toshinori Yagi, All Might, watched the monitor with a swelling sense of pride. He remembered the boy from the alleyway.

You didn't need my power, Midoriya, All Might thought, smiling warmly. You are already a hero.

One week later, Izuku sat in his bedroom, staring at the small, metallic disk resting on his desk.

He was wearing his weighted hoodie again, the familiar pressure grounding him. The Beast was quiet today, satiated by the explosive release during the exam.

The disk clicked, and a holographic projection flared to life.

All Might’s larger-than-life figure appeared, grinning widely. "I AM HERE! AS A PROJECTION!"

Izuku gasped, leaning forward.

"Young Midoriya! You performed admirably on the written exam! But the practical is where you truly shined!" All Might pointed a finger at the screen. "You scored seventy-four villain points! An incredible feat of stealth and power! But that is not all!"

The screen shifted, showing a video of Uraraka in Present Mic’s office, pleading to give some of her points to the boy who saved her.

"The Hero Course rejects those who do not do the right thing! You risked everything, revealing your full power, to save a fellow student! For that, a panel of judges awards you... SIXTY RESCUE POINTS!"

Izuku’s eyes widened. Tears pricked the corners of his eyes, but he didn't cry. A wide, confident smile spread across his face, revealing teeth that were just a little too sharp.

"One hundred and thirty-four points! You pass with flying colors, in first place!" All Might reached a hand out toward the camera. "Come, young Midoriya. This is your hero academia!"

The hologram faded.

Izuku stood up from his desk. He walked over to the mirror, looking at his reflection. He let the camouflage drop for just a second, his skin rippling into beautiful, lethal green scales, his eyes flashing gold.

He wasn't just Deku the useless nerd anymore. He wasn't a villain waiting to happen.

He was the Apex. And he was going to U.A. to show the world exactly what kind of hero he could be.

The alarm clock buzzed at precisely 5:00 AM, but Izuku Midoriya was already awake.

He lay flat on his back, staring at the ceiling of his bedroom. The air was cool, the apartment silent except for the rhythmic, distant hum of the refrigerator in the kitchen and the soft, steady breathing of his mother in the room down the hall. For a normal teenager, it was a peaceful morning. For Izuku, it was a symphony of sensory data that he had to consciously filter out.

He closed his eyes and focused inward. Breathe in. Two, three, four. Breathe out. Two, three, four.

Deep in the recesses of his mind, the Beast paced. It wasn’t a voice, nor was it a separate consciousness. It was an abstract, primal weight—a collection of instincts honed by millions of years of brutal evolution. It wanted to hunt. It wanted to stretch muscles that hadn’t been fully utilized since the Entrance Exam a week ago. It remembered the taste of the air in Ground Beta, the intoxicating rush of adrenaline, the satisfying crunch of metal between its jaws.

Izuku opened his eyes, the emerald irises briefly flashing with a golden, slit-pupiled sheen before settling back into their human form. He pushed the heavy duvet off his chest and sat up.

"Not today," Izuku whispered into the quiet room. "Today, we have to sit at a desk. We have to be normal."

The first challenge of the day was getting dressed. Izuku walked over to his closet, his bare feet making absolutely zero sound on the hardwood floor. He pulled out the standard U.A. High School uniform. It looked normal on the hangar, but his mother had spent a small fortune having it custom-tailored by a support company.

The gray blazer, the white button-down, and the dark green pants were lined with a specialized, hyper-dense tungsten-weave fabric. Just picking up the blazer required significant effort for a normal person; it weighed roughly twenty-five pounds. The pants weighed another twenty. Even his shoes had lead-lined soles.

Izuku strapped himself into his self-imposed cage. As he buttoned the blazer, the familiar, crushing weight settled over his shoulders. It forced his posture down, dulling the explosive, coiled-spring tension in his legs. It muffled the subtle, predatory grace of his natural gait, making him move with the slightly awkward, lumbering steps of a nervous teenager.

He looked in the mirror. He looked like Izuku. He looked harmless.

Good, he thought, adjusting his bright red tie. Let’s keep it that way.

The hallways of U.A. High School were intimidatingly massive. The ceilings were vaulted high enough to accommodate gigantification Quirks, and the corridors were wide enough to drive a tank through.

Izuku stood before a door that was at least twelve feet tall, painted with a massive red 1-A.

He could hear them before he even touched the handle. His eardrums, far more sensitive than a normal human's, picked up the overlapping conversations, the scuff of shoes against the tile, and the distinct, aggressive shouting of a certain explosive blonde.

"Take your feet off that desk immediately!"

Izuku recognized the voice. It was the blue-haired boy from the Entrance Exam auditorium.

"Huh?" Katsuki Bakugo’s voice snarled back, dripping with contempt. "Who the hell are you to tell me what to do, Four-Eyes?"

"I am Tenya Iida, from Somei Private Academy! And you are disrespecting the legacy of the upperclassmen who sat at this very desk, as well as the craftsmen who made it!"

Izuku took a deep breath, clutching the straps of his heavy yellow backpack. He reached out and slid the massive door open.

The noise inside the classroom abruptly paused as several heads turned toward the entrance. Izuku shrank back slightly under the scrutiny. He kept his eyes cast downward, his shoulders hunched under the weight of his uniform.

"Ah! It's you!"

Iida marched toward the door, his movements rigid and robotic. "I am Tenya Iida! I must apologize for my behavior at the auditorium! You realized that the practical exam had a hidden rescue mechanic, did you not? I was completely blind to it. I misjudged you, and for that, I am deeply ashamed!" Iida bowed at a perfect ninety-degree angle.

Izuku waved his hands frantically in front of his face, his cheeks burning red. "N-No! It's fine, really! I didn't know about any hidden points! I just moved on instinct!"

"Still, your actions were those of a true hero!" Iida declared, adjusting his glasses.

"Hey, it's the shrinking guy!"

Izuku turned to see the girl with the brown bob—Uraraka—pushing her way through the crowd. She beamed at him, her face lighting up with genuine warmth. "Midoriya, right? I'm so glad you made it! I wanted to thank you for saving me, but you disappeared so fast after the test! I went to Present Mic to try and give you some of my points, but he said you had plenty!"

"Y-You tried to give me your points?" Izuku squeaked, overwhelmed by her kindness. The Beast in the back of his mind purred softly at the lack of hostility. "T-Thank you, Uraraka-san. That's really nice of you."

Across the room, Katsuki Bakugo sat with his boots propped up on his desk. He glared at Izuku, his crimson eyes narrowing. Katsuki had watched the footage of the exam. He had seen the monstrous, thirty-foot Allosaurus that had ripped a building-sized robot apart with its teeth. Seeing Izuku now—stuttering, blushing, and hiding inside his oversized clothes—made Katsuki’s blood boil. Stop holding back, you damn nerd, Katsuki thought.

"If you're just here to make friends, you can pack up your stuff and leave."

The voice was tired, dry, and seemed to come from the floor.

The entire class froze. Izuku looked down. Lying on the floor in the hallway, wrapped in a bright yellow sleeping bag like an oversized caterpillar, was a scruffy man with dark bags under his eyes. He unzipped the sleeping bag and stood up, pulling a juice pouch from his pocket and taking a slow sip.

"It took you lot eight seconds to quiet down," the man said, stepping into the classroom. "Time is limited. You kids aren't rational enough."

Who is this guy? Izuku wondered, his eyes quickly scanning the man. The Beast analyzed him instantly. Heart rate: extremely slow. Posture: relaxed but guarded. Muscle density: high. Scent: coffee, ozone, and old blood. Threat level: High.

"I am your homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa," the man said, pulling a blue-and-white P.E. uniform out of his sleeping bag. "Nice to meet you. Now, put these on and head out to the P.E. grounds."

The class erupted into a chorus of confusion, but a single glare from Aizawa silenced them.

The locker room was loud and crowded. Izuku found a quiet corner and began the arduous process of changing.

He unbuttoned his heavy blazer, letting it drop to the bench. It landed with a loud, dense thud that caused the red-haired boy next to him to jump.

"Whoa, dude, what do you have in your pockets? Rocks?" the boy, Eijiro Kirishima, asked with a laugh.

"S-Something like that," Izuku mumbled. He unbuckled his pants and let them drop, followed by his heavy boots.

As the last of the weighted clothing came off, Izuku let out a long, slow breath. The relief was instantaneous. His spine straightened. The suppressed, coiled energy in his muscles sprang to life. Without the sixty pounds of dead weight dragging him down, he felt as light as a feather.

He pulled on the standard U.A. track suit. The fabric was thin, offering no resistance.

"Hey, Midoriya, was it?" Kirishima pointed to Izuku’s calves. "Man, you've got some crazy leg muscles. What's your Quirk? Super speed?"

Izuku looked down. Even in his base human form, his legs were disproportionately muscular, the thick cords of his thighs and calves heavily defined. "Um... it's a mutation. Animal based, mostly."

"Manly! I've got a hardening Quirk myself," Kirishima grinned, knocking his fists together with a stone-like clack.

Izuku offered a small smile and turned to head out to the field. But as he took his first step, he realized his mistake. Without the weights anchoring him, his body naturally defaulted to its predatory gait.

He didn't walk; he glided. The balls of his feet touched the tile floor without making a single sound. His weight shifted with impossible fluidity. He crossed the locker room in a blink, his presence suddenly vanishing from Kirishima’s periphery.

Kirishima blinked, rubbing his eyes. One second Midoriya was right in front of him, and the next, he was already at the door, pushing it open in total silence. Kirishima shivered, a sudden, inexplicable chill running down his spine.

Out on the dirt field, the bright morning sun beat down on Class 1-A. Aizawa stood before them, holding a pitch machine and a tablet.

"A Quirk Apprehension Test?" the class yelled in unison.

"What about the entrance ceremony? Or orientation?" Uraraka asked, stepping forward.

"If you're going to become a hero, you don't have time for such leisurely events," Aizawa said dryly. "U.A.'s selling point is how unrestricted its school traditions are. That's also how the teachers run their classes. You've been doing these tests since junior high, right? Physical fitness tests where you weren't allowed to use your Quirks. The country still uses averages taken from results devoid of Quirks. It's not rational. Whoever the Ministry of Education is, they're procrastinating."

Aizawa turned his tired eyes toward Katsuki. "Bakugo, you finished first in the practical exam. In junior high, what was your best result for the softball throw?"

"Sixty-seven meters," Katsuki answered confidently.

"Then, try doing it with your Quirk." Aizawa tossed a baseball to Katsuki. "Step into the circle. You can do whatever you want as long as you don't leave the circle. Hurry up. Give it all you've got."

Katsuki smirked, cracking his neck. He stepped into the painted ring, winding his arm back. He channeled his explosive sweat into his palms. "DIE!"

With a deafening roar, a massive explosion erupted from Katsuki’s hand, propelling the ball into the sky like a rocket. A trail of black smoke followed it until it disappeared from sight.

Aizawa held up a small device. It beeped. "Know your own maximum first. That is the most rational way to form the foundation of a hero."

He turned the screen toward the class. 705.2m.

The class erupted.

"705 meters? Seriously?!"

"That looks like so much fun!"

"We can use our Quirks as much as we want! As expected of the hero course!"

Aizawa’s eyes darkened, and his hair seemed to float slightly around his face. "Fun, you say? You have three years to become heroes. Will you have an attitude like that the whole time?" He smiled, a terrifying, predatory grin. "All right. Whoever comes in last place in all eight tests will be judged to have no potential and will be expelled."

The class gasped. Izuku felt his heart rate spike. Expelled? On the first day?

He looked at Aizawa. The teacher wasn't bluffing. The Beast recognized the intent. Aizawa was the alpha of this territory, establishing dominance.

"We're free to do what we want with the circumstances of our students," Aizawa continued, brushing a lock of hair out of his face. "Welcome to U.A.'s hero course."

Izuku clenched his fists. He couldn't go home. He couldn't fail. He would have to show them the monster.

Test 1: 50-Meter Dash

Izuku stepped up to the starting line next to Iida.

"I look forward to seeing your capabilities, Midoriya!" Iida said, adjusting his glasses. The exhaust pipes on his calves began to hum, emitting small puffs of blue smoke.

Izuku didn't answer. He was busy focusing on his lower half. He couldn't do a full shift—he would rip the track apart and probably crush the robotic camera taking their times. He needed surgical precision.

Just the legs, he commanded the Beast.

Beneath the thin fabric of his P.E. pants, his muscles began to writhe. Izuku dropped into a low crouch, his fingers touching the dirt. He felt his bones elongate, his knees reversing their joint structure. The fabric of his pants stretched taut as thick, armor-like green scales erupted across his calves and thighs. His feet burst through his standard-issue running shoes with a quiet rip, his three black talons sinking deeply into the dirt of the track.

Iida glanced over and nearly choked on his own exhaust. The legs protruding from Midoriya's shorts were not human. They were the legs of a dinosaur, thick like tree trunks, pulsating with terrifying vascularity and covered in shimmering emerald scales.

"On your marks..." the robotic voice called out.

Izuku didn't load his muscles like a runner. He coiled them like a spring.

"Get set..."

Target: the finish line. Distance: 50 meters. Prey.

"Go!"

Iida’s engines roared, and he shot forward with incredible speed.

Izuku simply vanished.

There was no sound of footsteps. There was no battle cry. There was only the violent crack of the air being displaced. A shockwave kicked up a cloud of dust at the starting line.

Before Iida had even crossed the ten-meter mark, the robotic camera at the finish line beeped.

"1.02 seconds!"

The dust cleared. Izuku was already standing past the finish line. His legs rapidly shrank, the scales melting away as his bones snapped back into human alignment. He stumbled slightly, his human feet bare on the dirt, the shredded remains of his shoes left at the starting line.

The class stared in absolute silence.

"Did... did anyone see him move?" Kaminari whispered, his jaw hanging open.

"It was like teleportation," Mina Ashido murmured, rubbing her arms. "But it was completely silent. That's so creepy..."

Aizawa marked the time on his clipboard, his eyes narrowing. Acceleration comparable to a bullet. But he completely silenced his footfalls. A predator's ambush technique applied to a sprint.

Test 2: Grip Strength

The class moved into the gymnasium. Izuku picked up the digital grip strength device. He looked at the high score—Mezo Shoji, the tall boy with multiple arms, had just pulled 540 kilograms.

Izuku sighed. He didn't want to break the machine. He tried to grip it normally, using his base human strength. He squeezed.

Beep. 180 kg.

It was a fantastic score for a human, but far below Shoji's. Izuku frowned. He needed to be absolutely sure he didn't come in last.

He closed his eyes and let a tiny fraction of the Beast out into his right arm. His skin rippled, scales forming along his forearm. His fingers thickened, the nails turning black and hardening into claws.

He squeezed again.

He didn't mean to squeeze so hard. The Beast didn't understand the concept of holding back. The digital display flickered wildly as the numbers skyrocketed past 900. Then, with a pathetic metallic crunch, the reinforced steel handle collapsed under his fingers like a soda can. The device sparked and died.

Izuku quickly retracted his scales, hiding his hand behind his back as Aizawa walked past. Aizawa looked at the crushed metal in Izuku's hand, raised a single eyebrow, and marked his clipboard without a word.

Test 3: Standing Long Jump

Izuku didn't even bother taking a running start. He stepped up to the edge of the sandbox. He partially shifted his legs again, the massive, scaled theropod limbs ripping through a spare pair of shorts he had borrowed from the locker room.

He coiled his legs and launched himself. He sailed cleanly over the entire sandbox, clearing the pit by a good twenty feet. He landed softly in the grass, his massive legs absorbing the impact flawlessly, entirely silent.

Test 4: Repeated Side Steps

This was the test Izuku had worried about. It required lateral agility, something large predators weren't usually known for. But an Allosaurus wasn't a T-Rex. It was built for turning on a dime to pursue agile prey.

Izuku stepped between the two lines. He shifted his legs again, but this time, he allowed the transformation to travel up his spine.

With a sickening, wet tearing sound, his track jacket ripped open at the lower back. A massive, ten-foot-long tail, thick with muscle and lined with sharp, bony plates, slammed into the floor.

The class collectively stepped back.

Mineta whimpered, hiding behind Yaoyorozu. "He's a monster!"

Izuku ignored them. He needed a counterbalance. When the timer started, Izuku moved. He threw his weight violently from side to side. Every time he shifted left, his massive tail whipped right, perfectly stabilizing his center of gravity.

To the naked eye, he became a green blur. The sheer kinetic force of his movements created a localized wind vortex in the gym. He shattered the previous record held by Mineta before the timer even hit the halfway mark.

By the time they reached the final physical test—the softball throw—the dynamic of the class had shifted.

They were no longer looking at Izuku Midoriya, the shy, stuttering kid who tripped over his own feet. They were looking at a terrifying apex predator wearing a human suit. Every time he partially shifted, they caught glimpses of a prehistoric killing machine that moved with absolute, silent lethality.

"Midoriya. You're up," Aizawa called out, pointing to the throwing circle.

Izuku walked into the circle. He picked up the softball. It felt incredibly light in his hand. He looked out over the massive field. Katsuki had thrown it 705 meters using explosions. Uraraka had just scored an infinity by removing its gravity.

Izuku needed to go all out. Throwing with just an arm wouldn't be enough. The human shoulder socket simply couldn't generate the necessary torque, even with enhanced muscle.

He needed leverage. He needed the Beast.

Izuku closed his eyes. He didn't just shift his arm; he allowed the transformation to consume his entire upper body.

His chest expanded, ripping his U.A. track shirt to shreds. Dark, iridescent green scales violently cascaded across his torso and neck. His shoulders broadened, packing on hundreds of pounds of dense, coiled muscle. His neck elongated, thickening until it was wider than his waist, built to support a massive skull and withstand the force of tearing giant prey apart.

His face shattered forward. His jaw unhinged, extending into a terrifying, three-foot-long snout lined with fifty serrated, knife-like teeth. His eyes shifted entirely to pools of gold with thin black slits.

He didn't do a full shift—his legs remained human to stay within the circle—but from the waist up, he was a nightmare pulled straight from the Jurassic period.

A collective gasp echoed from the class. Jiro covered her ears instinctively. Katsuki grit his teeth, leaning forward.

Aizawa’s eyes glowed red. His hair shot up. He activated his Erasure, staring directly at Izuku.

Nothing happened.

Aizawa narrowed his eyes. A true mutation, he analyzed. My Quirk stops the emission of power and halts physical transformations in progress. But I can't erase an arm or a leg once it's already there. He's fully committed the shift. Aizawa blinked, deactivating his Quirk, deciding to see exactly what this boy was capable of.

Izuku stood in the center of the circle, a half-man, half-dinosaur monstrosity.

He didn't pull his arm back.

Instead, he tossed the softball gently into the air above him.

The ball reached its apex. Izuku opened his massive, terrifying jaws and snapped them shut, catching the softball delicately between his front teeth without piercing the leather.

Then, he leaned his entire upper body back, his massive neck bending like a drawn bowstring.

The muscles in his neck and torso, designed to thrash and rip multi-ton sauropods apart, tensed to their absolute limit. The scales along his spine locked into place.

Izuku whipped his head forward.

It was a motion mimicking a lethal bite-and-pull, but redirected into a forward launch. As his head snapped forward, he opened his jaws, releasing the softball at the exact microsecond of maximum kinetic velocity.

BOOM.

The sound wasn't an explosion like Bakugo's. It was the sharp, deafening crack of a sonic boom. The air pressure inside the circle visibly distorted, kicking up a massive shockwave of dust and dirt that blasted over the watching students. Aizawa had to shield his eyes with his capture weapon.

The softball didn't arc. It tore a straight, invisible line through the sky, ripping the clouds apart before vanishing entirely from sight.

Izuku stood in the circle, his massive chest heaving. Slowly, steam rolled off his scales. The massive head shrank, the jaw snapping back into place, the neck compressing, and the scales melting back into soft, pale skin.

Within seconds, Izuku was back in his human form, bare-chested and panting slightly. He looked over his shoulder at Aizawa, offering a nervous, apologetic smile. "S-Sorry for ruining another shirt. I'll pay for it."

Aizawa stared at him for a long moment. He looked down at his device. The screen was flashing wildly before settling on a number.

Aizawa turned the screen around.

1,402.6m.

"Over a kilometer..." Kaminari choked out, his eyes bugging out of his head. "He threw it with his mouth! What the hell is he?!"

Katsuki Bakugo stood frozen, his hands trembling slightly. 1,400 meters. Double his score. And Deku hadn't even used his full body. Katsuki’s pride warred with a deep, instinctual fear. He's a monster, Katsuki thought, a feral grin slowly spreading across his face. And I'm going to crush him.

Aizawa pocketed the device. "You have excellent control over a highly volatile mutation. You know exactly what parts of your anatomy to use for maximum efficiency. Rational." Aizawa turned back to the class. "All right, the tests are over. Go check your results."

Izuku checked the holographic projection. He was in first place. Katsuki was third.

He let out a long breath, finally letting his shoulders drop. He had survived.

"Hey! Midoriya!"

Izuku turned to see Kirishima running up to him, a massive grin on his face. Mina Ashido and a boy with tape dispensers for elbows were right behind him.

"Dude! That was the manliest thing I've ever seen!" Kirishima yelled, clapping Izuku on his bare shoulder. "You're like a freakin' Godzilla!"

"It was so scary, but so cool!" Mina added, her black-sclera eyes shining. "Can you do a full dinosaur? Like, the whole thing?"

Izuku blinked, overwhelmed by the sudden positive attention. People weren't running away. They weren't calling him a villain. They thought he was cool.

"U-Um, yeah," Izuku stammered, his face turning beet red. "It's an Allosaurus, actually. A theropod. But I try not to do the Full Shift unless I have to. I-It's really heavy, and it breaks the ground, and..."

As Izuku descended into a nervous mutter-storm about dinosaur biology and kinetic force, his classmates just laughed, leaning in to listen.

Aizawa watched from afar, a small smirk on his face. He looks like a rabbit, but he hits like a tank. This class is going to be a headache.

The next afternoon, the energy in Class 1-A was electric.

All Might had burst through the door, announcing the Battle Trial. After retrieving their hero costumes, the class gathered in the massive, mock-city of Ground Beta.

Izuku walked out of the tunnel, adjusting his costume. He hadn't gone for the flashy, colorful look most of his classmates had chosen. His suit was designed entirely around the Beast's fighting style: stealth and ambush.

He wore a skin-tight, matte-black tactical bodysuit made of a highly advanced, hyper-elastic material that could stretch and adapt to his partial shifts without tearing. Dark green, sound-dampening armor plates covered his chest, forearms, and shins. He wore no boots, opting instead for thick, padded grips wrapped around his bare feet, allowing his claws to extend freely and muting his footsteps entirely.

His face was partially obscured by a dark green, high-collar cowl that covered his mouth and nose, leaving only his eyes visible. It served a dual purpose: hiding his identity and filtering out overpowering smells in urban environments.

"Wow, Midoriya, you look like a ninja!" Uraraka cheered, jogging up to him in her pink and black spacesuit-like costume.

Izuku pulled his cowl down, blushing. "Y-You look great too, Uraraka-san! The costume really suits you!"

All Might stood before the class, holding up two boxes. "NOW, IT IS TIME FOR COMBAT TRAINING! WE WILL DRAW LOTS TO DETERMINE TEAMS! VILLAINS VERSUS HEROES!"

Izuku drew his lot. Team A. He looked up and met Uraraka's eyes. They were partners.

"Awesome! We're a team again!" Uraraka beamed.

All Might drew the villain team. Team D.

Across the crowd, Katsuki Bakugo turned his head. His eyes locked onto Izuku. He was wearing his massive, grenade-shaped gauntlets and a black tank top, a feral, unhinged grin stretching across his face. Next to him stood Iida, fully clad in his white knight-like armor.

"Team A will be the Heroes! Team D will be the Villains!" All Might announced. "Villains, go inside and set up the nuclear weapon! Heroes, you will enter in five minutes!"

The rest of the class headed to the monitor room. Izuku and Uraraka stood outside the massive, multi-story concrete building that served as their battleground.

Izuku stared at the building. The windows were dark. The Beast was awake, pacing behind his eyes. It smelled the nitroglycerin. It knew Katsuki was waiting in there.

"Okay, Midoriya," Uraraka said, clapping her hands together. "What's the plan? Should we go in through a window? We need to find the weapon quickly."

Izuku slowly shook his head. He turned to Uraraka, his green eyes serious. "Uraraka... I want you to wait out here."

Uraraka blinked, confused. "What? But it's a team exercise. I can help! I can make things float!"

"I know you can," Izuku said softly, his voice deepening slightly as the predatory instinct began to take hold. "But Kacchan... Bakugo. He isn't going to guard the weapon. He's coming straight for me. He has a lot of pride, and he wants to prove he's stronger than me. If you're with me, you'll get caught in the crossfire. His explosions are dangerous in enclosed spaces."

"But you'll be outnumbered!" Uraraka protested. "Iida is in there too!"

Izuku pulled his dark green cowl up over his mouth and nose. Above the mask, his eyes flashed. The round, human pupils snapped into razor-thin, vertical golden slits.

"I won't be outnumbered," Izuku said, his voice now a terrifying, dual-layered baritone that sent a shiver down Uraraka's spine. "They are trapped in a box with me."

Inside the building, on the third floor, Iida was aggressively pacing around the papier-mâché nuclear weapon.

"Bakugo, we must form a defensive perimeter!" Iida commanded, his voice echoing off the concrete walls. "Midoriya is incredibly fast, but if we block the doorways with debris, we can funnel him into a chokepoint!"

Katsuki didn't answer. He was standing by the door, staring down the dark hallway, cracking his knuckles. Small explosions popped in his palms, casting flickering orange light across his manic grin.

"Bakugo, are you listening to me?!"

"Shut up, Four-Eyes," Katsuki growled. "You guard the stupid bomb. I'm going hunting."

"That is a severe violation of villain protocol!" Iida yelled. "You are abandoning the objective!"

"The objective is crushing Deku," Katsuki snarled, stepping out into the hallway. "That nerd has been hiding his power for years. Looking down on me. Making me think he was weak. I'm going to blow his scaly face off."

Katsuki marched down the hall, his boots echoing loudly on the concrete.

Outside, a loud klaxon sounded. The trial had begun.

Katsuki reached the stairwell on the second floor. "COME OUT, DEKU!" he screamed, firing a massive explosion down the stairwell. The blast illuminated the dust in the air, but the stairs were empty.

Suddenly, the lights on the first floor went out with a loud POP.

Katsuki paused.

A few seconds later, the lights on the second floor shattered. Total darkness consumed the lower levels of the building.

In the monitor room, the class gasped.

"What happened to the cameras?" Kirishima asked, squinting at the screens, which had all switched to night-vision mode.

"Midoriya destroyed the fuse box on the ground floor," All Might explained, his voice hushed. "He has plunged the battlefield into darkness."

Inside the building, Katsuki sneered. "Playing hide and seek in the dark? You think I can't see you, you damn lizard?!" He held his hands out, firing small, continuous bursts of explosions to act as a flare, casting harsh, strobing shadows against the walls.

"I KNOW YOU'RE DOWN HERE! COME FIGHT ME HEAD ON!"

Silence.

Dead, absolute silence. Katsuki's breathing was the only sound in the hallway.

Up on the ceiling, suspended entirely in the shadows, the air shimmered.

Izuku hung upside down, his heavily scaled, three-toed theropod claws sunk silently into the concrete ceiling. He was in full active camouflage, his skin perfectly matching the gray texture of the concrete.

Through his thermal vision, Katsuki was a blazing sun of heat and rage. Izuku could see the hot blood pumping through Katsuki’s veins. He could hear the rapid, adrenaline-fueled pounding of the blonde boy's heart.

Prey is isolated. Prey is loud. Prey is blind, the Beast whispered in Izuku's mind.

Izuku detached his left claw from the ceiling. He reached down and gently dislodged a small piece of loose plaster. He dropped it.

The plaster hit the floor twenty feet behind Katsuki.

Katsuki spun around instantly, roaring in fury. "DIE!" He unleashed a massive blast from his gauntlet, washing the entire hallway in searing fire. The concussive force rattled the building, blowing the doors off their hinges.

The fire cleared. The hallway was empty.

"STOP HIDING!" Katsuki screamed, his chest heaving. Sweat dripped down his face.

On the ceiling, directly above Katsuki, Izuku slowly crawled forward. He moved like a massive, invisible spider. His padded grips muffled any sound his claws might have made. The heat from Katsuki’s explosions washed over him, but his reptilian scales absorbed it effortlessly.

Izuku positioned himself directly over Katsuki.

He didn't need to use a Full Shift. He didn't need a sonic boom. He just needed gravity.

Izuku dropped his camouflage.

For a fraction of a second, Katsuki caught a reflection in the shattered glass of a nearby window. He saw the massive, dark green, heavily muscled creature dropping from the ceiling right above him.

Katsuki opened his mouth to shout, raising his gauntlet.

He was too slow.

Izuku didn't punch him. He simply landed on him.

The sheer weight of Izuku’s augmented body, dropping from ten feet, slammed into Katsuki with the force of a falling safe. Katsuki hit the floor so hard the concrete cracked. All the air was violently expelled from his lungs.

Before Katsuki could even twitch a finger to ignite his sweat, Izuku’s right leg shifted. A massive, heavily scaled theropod foot slammed down onto Katsuki’s back, pinning him to the floor with immovable, crushing weight.

At the exact same time, Izuku’s hand shot forward. His fingers shifted into wicked, obsidian scythes. He wrapped his hand around the back of Katsuki’s neck, the tip of his thumb claw resting gently, but firmly, against Katsuki’s jugular vein.

The entire engagement lasted less than half a second.

Katsuki lay pinned against the cold floor, unable to move, unable to breathe, staring into the darkness.

Izuku leaned down. The heavy, warm breath of the predator washed over the back of Katsuki’s neck.

"Dead," Izuku whispered, his dual-layered voice echoing ominously in the silent hallway.

With his free hand, Izuku reached to his belt, unspooled the capture tape, and wrapped it securely around Katsuki’s wrists.

"Bakugo is captured!" All Might's voice boomed over the intercom, tinged with a mix of awe and slight horror.

Katsuki didn't scream. He didn't explode. He just lay there, his crimson eyes wide in the darkness, the terrifying reality setting in. He hadn't landed a single hit. He hadn't even seen it coming. He was completely, utterly outmatched.

Izuku released his hold and stood up, stepping off Katsuki’s back. His scales retracted, his eyes shifting back to normal. He looked down at his childhood rival.

"I'm going up to get the weapon now, Kacchan," Izuku said, his voice back to its normal, soft pitch.

Izuku turned and walked silently up the stairs.

On the third floor, Iida was sweating profusely. He had heard the explosion, but he hadn't heard Bakugo shout his usual battle cries since.

"Bakugo? Respond!" Iida called out nervously.

Suddenly, a shadow fell over the doorway.

Iida stiffened, raising his arms. "Midoriya! I commend you for defeating Bakugo, but I will not allow you to touch this weapon! I am a villain, and I will do heinous acts to protect—"

"Iida-kun, look behind you," Izuku said softly from the doorway.

Iida froze. He slowly turned around.

Floating casually near the ceiling, right above the fake weapon, was Uraraka. She gave a cheerful peace sign. While Iida had been distracted by the noise on the second floor and staring at the door, she had floated up the outside of the building and come in through the window.

She dropped down and lightly tapped the papier-mâché missile.

"Hero Team A wins!" All Might declared.

In the monitor room, the class was dead silent. They stared at the screen showing Izuku standing in the doorway, perfectly calm, not a single scratch on his costume.

"He... he didn't even fight him," Denki swallowed hard. "He just hunted him. Like an animal."

"It was a flawless victory," Yaoyorozu said, her eyes wide with analytical respect. "He neutralized the highest threat with zero collateral damage, while simultaneously using himself as a decoy so his partner could secure the objective completely unnoticed. It was textbook."

Tsuyu Asui put a finger to her chin. "He's scary, ribbit. But he's a really good hero."

Down in the building, the lights flickered back on. Izuku walked over to Iida, offering a polite bow. "Good match, Iida-kun. You set up a really good defensive position."

Izuku walked back down to the second floor. Katsuki was sitting up, staring at his capture-taped hands.

Izuku hesitated, then reached out a hand. "Kacchan... are you hurt?"

Katsuki slapped Izuku's hand away violently. He stood up, his bangs shadowing his eyes. He didn't yell. He didn't curse. He just walked past Izuku, his fists clenched so tight his knuckles were white.

Izuku watched him go, a pang of sadness in his chest. The Beast didn't care about Katsuki’s feelings. The Beast was satisfied with the hunt. But Izuku cared. He wanted to be a hero who saved people with a smile, not just a monster hiding in the dark.

As they walked back to the monitor room, Izuku looked down at his hands. He had complete control over his power. He had proven he was the apex of the classroom. But as he thought about the villains in the real world, the ones who didn't play by the rules of a school exam, the Beast stirred once more.

Let them come, the Beast seemed to say. We will hunt them all.

The bus ride to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint was supposed to be a moment of respite. For most of Class 1-A, it was a chance to chat, relax, and speculate about the rescue training ahead. For Izuku Midoriya, it was an exercise in extreme sensory management.

He sat near the back, wedged against the window. He was back in his custom, weighted U.A. track suit. The fifty-plus pounds of dense tungsten-weave fabric pressed down on his shoulders and thighs, a comforting, heavy blanket that kept the coiled springs of his muscles at bay. But while the weights managed his physical strength, they did nothing to dampen his senses.

The enclosed space of the bus was a cacophony of smells and sounds. He could smell the sugar on Sato’s breath, the sharp, acidic tang of Ashido’s skin, the faint, ozone-and-burnt-sugar scent of Katsuki Bakugo sitting rigidly a few rows ahead. He could hear the rapid, nervous heartbeat of Mineta next to him, and the rhythmic hum of the bus’s engine, which vibrated through the floorboards and directly into the hypersensitive marrow of his bones.

He closed his eyes, leaning his head against the cool glass, focusing on the rhythmic ba-thump, ba-thump of his own slow, powerful heart to anchor himself.

"Hey, Midoriya."

Izuku opened one eye. Tsuyu Asui, the frog-quirked girl, was leaning over the back of the seat in front of him, staring at him with unblinking, large black eyes.

"Y-Yes, Asui-san?" Izuku replied, sitting up slightly, his posture automatically shrinking.

"Call me Tsu," she said bluntly. "I say whatever comes to mind, Midoriya. Your Quirk is really amazing. You’re like a dinosaur, right? But the way you fight... it’s scary. It’s a lot like Bakugo’s, actually, but entirely silent."

The temperature in the bus seemed to drop. A few rows up, Katsuki stiffened, his shoulders rising defensively.

"Wait, Tsu, you think Midoriya is like Bakugo?" Kirishima chimed in from across the aisle, leaning forward with a grin. "I mean, Bakugo is all flash and explosions! Midoriya is like a freakin' ninja ninja-dinosaur. Didn't you see him in the Battle Trial? He didn't even wreck the building!"

"That's my point, ribbit," Tsuyu croaked softly, tapping her chin. "Bakugo fights like a wild animal. Midoriya fights like a hunter. But they both have that... intense, predatory vibe. Although, Bakugo is always so angry, so he'll never be popular."

"WHAT DID YOU SAY, YOU DAMN FROG?!" Katsuki erupted, leaping out of his seat and grabbing the railing, small explosions popping in his palms. "I'LL KICK YOUR ASS!"

"See?" Tsuyu pointed casually at Katsuki’s raging form.

Izuku offered a weak, apologetic smile, though internally, the Beast stirred. It didn't like Katsuki’s sudden shouting. It didn't like the sudden spike in adrenaline. Izuku forced his heart rate to remain steady, gripping his knees through the heavy fabric of his pants.

"We're almost there," Aizawa’s tired voice cut through the chaos from the front of the bus. "Settle down, all of you."

The bus pulled up to a massive, dome-shaped building that looked like something out of a sci-fi movie. The class piled out, marveling at the sheer scale of the facility.

Waiting for them at the entrance was a hero clad in a bulky, white spacesuit.

"Welcome, everyone!" the Space Hero: Thirteen announced, waving their puffy arms. "I've been waiting for you!"

The class erupted into excited murmurs, Uraraka vibrating with fan-girl energy next to Izuku. They followed Thirteen inside, stepping onto a massive viewing platform that overlooked a sprawling, multi-biome training facility. There were ruined cities, a massive lake with a shipwreck, a landslide zone, and a fiery mountain.

"This is the Unforeseen Simulation Joint! Or, as I like to call it, the USJ!" Thirteen declared.

Before the training began, Thirteen held up a hand, their tone turning uncharacteristically serious. "Before we begin, let me say one thing... or two... or three..." Thirteen cleared their throat. "As you all know, my Quirk is Black Hole. It can suck up and tear apart anything. However, it is a power that can easily kill people."

Izuku stiffened. The words struck a chord deep within him.

"Some of you have Quirks that are equally dangerous," Thirteen continued, scanning the class. "In our superhuman society, Quirks have been certified and stringently regulated. But please do not forget that there are many Quirks that can easily take a life with one wrong step. Aizawa-sensei's physical fitness test showed you your hidden potential. All Might's battle training showed you the danger of using those powers against others. This class is a fresh start. You shall learn how to use your Quirks to save people's lives. Your powers are not meant to inflict harm. They are meant to help."

Izuku looked down at his heavy, lead-lined shoes. Not meant to inflict harm. But his Quirk was literally designed by evolution to kill. Every muscle fiber, every scale, every razor-sharp tooth was engineered for slaughter. How could he use the ultimate biological weapon to save people?

He was so lost in thought that he almost didn't notice it at first.

Sniff.

Izuku’s head snapped up.

The Beast slammed against the front of his consciousness, fully awake, hackles raised.

Threat.

Izuku’s pupils instantly snapped from round human circles to razor-thin, vertical golden slits. The vibrant colors of the USJ faded, replaced by the hyper-detailed thermal map of the facility.

He tasted the air. His olfactory senses, thousands of times more sensitive than a bloodhound’s, picked up a scent that did not belong. It wasn't the chlorine of the flood zone or the sulfur of the fire zone.

It was the smell of static electricity. Ozone. Cold, dead vacuum. And beneath it all, the coppery, sickening scent of malice.

"Aizawa-sensei!" Izuku gasped, taking a step forward, his voice dropping an octave.

"What is it, Midoriya?" Aizawa asked, turning around, mildly annoyed by the interruption.

Izuku didn't answer with words. The scent was getting stronger, localized at the central plaza down below. He looked down the massive staircase.

There was nothing there. Just the empty concrete of the plaza.

No. It's not empty, the Beast hissed. The air is tearing.

Izuku's eardrums picked up a microscopic, high-frequency tearing sound, like a zipper being pulled across the fabric of reality itself.

Panic and pure predatory instinct seized Izuku. He didn't think about his classmates. He didn't think about his heavy clothes. He filled his lungs, his chest expanding violently against the tungsten fabric. His vocal cords shifted, thickening into the heavy, muscular folds of an apex theropod.

Izuku opened his mouth and unleashed a deafening, terrifying roar.

"RAAAARRRRRGHHHHH!"

It was a sound that belonged in the Jurassic era, a low-frequency, concussive blast of sheer, unadulterated primal warning that shook the steel rafters of the dome. The students screamed, clapping their hands over their ears, falling to their knees as the sonic force vibrated in their chests. Even Thirteen staggered back.

Aizawa whipped around, his capture weapon flaring out, his eyes wide in shock. He looked at Izuku, ready to activate his Quirk, thinking the boy had lost control.

But Izuku wasn't looking at the class. He was pointing down at the plaza, his clawed finger trembling, his golden eyes wide with terror.

Aizawa followed his gaze.

Down in the central plaza, the air twisted and warped. A pinprick of dark, purple mist suddenly spiraled outward, expanding rapidly into a massive, swirling vortex.

From the center of the dark mist, a pale, disembodied hand reached out.

"Gather together and don't move!" Aizawa roared, his lethargy vanishing instantly, replaced by the lethal intensity of a pro hero. "Thirteen, protect the students!"

"What is that?" Kirishima asked, his voice shaking as he stood up, staring down at the expanding portal. "Is this like the entrance exam where the lesson's already started?"

"Don't move!" Aizawa snapped, pulling his yellow goggles over his eyes. "Those are villains."

Dozens of figures began pouring out of the purple mist. Men and women armed with weapons and grotesque mutant Quirks. Leading them was a lanky man covered in disembodied hands, and standing beside him was a hulking, terrifying monstrosity with a bird-like beak and an exposed, pulsing brain.

Izuku’s thermal vision flared. The lanky man radiated cold, dead heat. But the hulking bird-monster... it was a furnace. A chaotic, overwhelming mess of conflicting biological signatures. It didn't smell alive, but it didn't smell dead, either.

"Villains? No way..." Kaminari backed away.

"Thirteen, begin evacuation. Try calling the school," Aizawa ordered, stepping toward the edge of the stairs. "These villains had something to do with the sensors. It's possible someone with radio-wave-type powers is interfering."

"Sensei, you can't fight them all alone!" Izuku yelled, his voice still vibrating with guttural resonance. "Against that many, your Erasure Quirk... your fighting style is capturing after erasing! A frontal battle is—!"

"You can't be a pro if you only have one trick," Aizawa interrupted, looking over his shoulder. He met Izuku’s golden, slit-pupil eyes. "Midoriya. Keep your instincts in check. Do not engage unless your life depends on it. Go."

With a leap, Aizawa plummeted into the plaza, his capture scarf trailing behind him like the wings of a predatory bird. He slammed into the crowd of villains, moving with blinding, brutal efficiency.

"We need to evacuate!" Thirteen called out, ushering the students toward the heavy steel doors.

Izuku turned to run, but his ears twitched.

Tearing.

The sound of the purple mist wasn't just in the plaza anymore. It was forming directly in front of them, blocking the exit doors.

The mist billowed up, taking the shape of a tall, imposing figure with glowing yellow eyes.

"I won't let you," the mist entity spoke, his voice smooth and polite. "Greetings. We are the League of Villains. It may be presumptuous of us, but we have invited ourselves into the home of the heroes, U.A. High School, in order to have All Might, the Symbol of Peace, take his last breath."

Izuku’s blood ran cold. They were here to kill All Might.

"I believe All Might should have been here," the mist, Kurogiri, continued. "Has there been some kind of change? Well, that is neither here nor there. This is the part I am to play."

Thirteen raised a finger, the caps popping off to unleash Black Hole.

But Katsuki Bakugo and Kirishima didn't wait.

"Did you consider that you'd get beaten by us before you did it?!" Katsuki roared, launching himself forward with a massive explosion, Kirishima right beside him in a hardened, flying punch.

A massive blast of fire and smoke engulfed the mist villain.

"No! Get back!" Thirteen yelled.

Izuku didn't hesitate. The Beast recognized a trap. The mist was intangible; physical attacks wouldn't work. Izuku dropped his weight, his leg muscles bulging against his weighted pants. He didn't shift fully, just utilizing his base human strength. He shot forward like a bullet, aiming to grab Katsuki and Kirishima and pull them back.

But as the smoke cleared, the mist remained completely unharmed.

"My, my, that was dangerous," Kurogiri said calmly. "Even if you are students, you are excellent golden eggs. But it is my job to scatter you."

The purple mist exploded outward, forming a massive dome that swallowed Thirteen, Kirishima, Bakugo, and Izuku.

Izuku felt the ground vanish beneath his feet. The sensory input abruptly cut out, replaced by a dizzying, suffocating void. He couldn't smell. He couldn't hear.

Where is the ground?! the Beast panicked.

A second later, gravity returned with a vengeance. Izuku fell out of a portal high in the air.

He opened his eyes. Below him was a massive expanse of dark, choppy water. The Shipwreck/Flood Zone.

"Midoriya!" a voice shrieked.

Izuku looked up. Mineta was falling through the air next to him, flailing his arms, tears streaming down his face.

Impact.

Izuku hit the water hard. The sheer weight of his fifty-pound uniform dragged him down instantly like an anchor. He sank like a stone, the cold water rushing into his ears and nose.

He didn't panic. The Allosaurus was an apex predator, but it wasn't strictly terrestrial. Like a crocodile, it was an ambush predator that often utilized murky water to drown struggling prey.

Izuku held his breath, his lungs expanding. He reached down to unclasp the heavy weights of his blazer, preparing to swim.

Suddenly, a long, green appendage wrapped securely around his waist.

With a powerful jerk, Izuku was hauled upward through the water. He broke the surface, gasping for air. Tsuyu Asui held him with her long, frog-like tongue, while holding a sobbing Mineta under her arm.

"Up here, ribbit," Tsuyu said, swimming powerfully with her legs. She launched them out of the water, tossing them onto the deck of a massive, rusted ship floating in the center of the lake.

Izuku hit the deck, immediately rolling to his feet and shedding his heavy, soaked blazer. He unbuckled his weighted pants, stepping out of them to reveal his tight, black tactical suit underneath. He left his boots, preferring to be barefoot. Without the weights, he felt impossibly light, his energy uncoiling.

"Thanks, Asui-san," Izuku panted, wiping the wet hair out of his eyes.

"I told you to call me Tsu," she replied, climbing over the railing and crouching on the deck. "This is bad. Those villains knew exactly what they were doing."

"We're gonna die!" Mineta wailed, clutching his head. "They're gonna kill us! We're just kids!"

Izuku walked to the edge of the railing, peering down into the murky, churning water.

His golden, slit-pupil eyes flared. The thermal vision cut through the cold water like a spotlight.

The lake was swarming. There were at least twenty heat signatures circling the boat, waiting. Mutants with fins, gills, and webbed hands.

"They warped us to the shipwreck zone," Izuku analyzed, his voice low and steady. "They separated us to pick us off. They must have known the layout of the facility, but..."

"But what, Midoriya?" Tsuyu asked.

"They didn't know our Quirks," Izuku said, turning to her. "They sent you, a frog Quirk user, to a water zone. That means they just warped us randomly. They don't know what we can do."

"Hey! You brats!" a voice called out from the water.

A villain with a shark-like dorsal fin broke the surface, grinning maliciously, revealing rows of jagged teeth. "You can't stay on that boat forever! We've got you surrounded! Come on down and play, or we'll start sinking it!"

More villains popped their heads up, laughing and taunting the students.

"What do we do?!" Mineta screamed, pulling a sticky purple ball from his head. "We can't fight them in the water! They have the advantage!"

Izuku looked back at the water. The villains were confident. They believed they were the predators in this biome. They believed the children on the boat were trapped prey.

The Beast inside Izuku smiled. A cold, dark, terrifying smile.

They are in our element, the Beast purred. Murky water. Blind prey. Easy hunt.

Izuku turned his back to the water. He looked at Tsuyu and Mineta. The duality of his nature was jarring. His posture was slouched slightly, his hands fidgeting. He offered them a kind, gentle, reassuring smile.

"It's going to be okay, you two," Izuku said softly, his emerald eyes warm.

"Midoriya...?" Tsuyu tilted her head.

"Mineta. Tsu. I need you to do me a favor," Izuku said gently. "I'm going to jump in the water now. I need you to close your eyes, and cover your ears. Don't look over the railing."

"Are you crazy?!" Mineta shrieked. "They'll tear you apart! It's suicide!"

Izuku just smiled. But as he turned back toward the edge of the ship, the smile vanished. The warmth in his eyes died, replaced instantly by the cold, calculating gold of the apex predator.

"Cover your ears," Izuku repeated, his voice dropping an octave, layering with the guttural hum of the Beast.

Tsuyu shivered. She didn't argue. She grabbed Mineta by the collar, pulled him back against the ship's cabin, and covered her ear holes.

Izuku stepped up onto the railing of the ship.

He didn't just jump. He shifted as he fell.

He commanded a highly specific, localized shift. His lungs expanded, capable of holding air for over two hours. His feet burst out of their padded grips, shifting into the three-toed, scaled claws of a theropod. His skin rippled violently, shedding its human hue, replaced by thick, heavily armored, deep-green crocodilian scales. The chromatophores in his scales activated instantly, matching the exact murky, brownish-blue hue of the USJ lake.

From the base of his spine, a massive, muscular tail erupted, lined with jagged osteoderms.

To the villains watching from the water, they saw the green-haired boy step off the railing, and then... he vanished mid-air.

Splash.

A tiny, barely noticeable ripple broke the surface of the water.

Underneath the water, the Shark Villain grinned, looking around. "He jumped in! Where did the little brat go? Find him! Tear him apart!"

The water villains dove under, swimming through the dark, cold depths.

It was silent.

Twenty feet away from the Shark Villain, hovering perfectly still in the water, Izuku Midoriya opened his eyes. In the darkness of the water, a nictitating membrane slid over his golden eyes, protecting them and enhancing his vision. He could see the heat of every single villain glowing brightly against the cold water.

His active camouflage made him entirely invisible. He was a ghost in the water.

A villain with webbed hands and an octopus-like lower body swam past Izuku, mere inches away, completely oblivious to the massive, scaled predator hovering beside him.

Izuku didn't bite. He didn't use his claws. Thirteen’s words echoed in his mind: Your powers are not meant to inflict harm. They are meant to help. He couldn't use lethal force. He had to incapacitate.

Izuku’s massive tail whipped out.

THWACK.

The blunt-force impact of a three-hundred-pound, muscle-dense tail striking the Octopus Villain in the chest under water was like being hit by a submarine. The villain's eyes bulged, all the air violently expelled from his lungs. He was knocked unconscious instantly.

Izuku didn't stop. He grabbed the unconscious villain by the collar with his human-shaped, but heavily scaled hand, coiled his powerful theropod legs against a sunken piece of debris, and kicked off.

He rocketed toward the surface like a torpedo.

SPLASH!

The Octopus Villain was violently hurled out of the water, soaring fifty feet through the air before crashing heavily onto the concrete shore of the Flood Zone, out of bounds and out of the fight.

The Shark Villain breached the surface, looking at the shore in shock. "What the hell was that?! Who threw him?!"

He looked back under the water. The other villains were looking around frantically in the murk.

"Stay together!" the Shark Villain yelled. "Something's in the water with us!"

Yes, the Beast whispered in the darkness. I am.

Izuku moved. He didn't swim like a human; he undulated. He kept his arms tucked close to his sides, using the massive, serpentine thrashing of his tail and the occasional explosive kick of his theropod legs to maneuver with terrifying, aquatic grace.

He targeted the stragglers.

A villain with crab pincers was hovering near the bottom. Suddenly, an invisible, crushing pressure wrapped around his ankle. Before he could scream, he was yanked downward with terrifying velocity, dragged into the black silt at the bottom of the lake, disoriented and panicked. A massive, invisible foot slammed into his chest, knocking him out cold.

A second later, the Crab Villain was launched out of the water, crashing onto the shore next to the Octopus Villain.

"Another one!" a female villain with gills shrieked. "Where is it coming from?!"

Fear began to taint the water. Izuku could smell it. The bitter, acidic scent of their panic fueled the Beast.

He accelerated.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

One by one, the water villains were violently struck by an invisible, blunt force. They were dragged into the darkness, spun around to lose their equilibrium, and then mercilessly ejected from the lake like ragdolls.

To the villains, it was a horror movie. They were the apex predators of the deep, but they were being picked off by a ghost. They couldn't see it. They couldn't hear it. They could only feel the massive, displacement of water a millisecond before a crushing blow knocked them unconscious.

"Retreat!" the Shark Villain screamed, swimming frantically toward the shore. "Get out of the water! Get out of the—!"

Izuku dropped his camouflage.

Directly in front of the Shark Villain, the murky water suddenly shifted.

A massive, terrifying face materialized from the gloom. Golden, slit-pupil eyes burned with predatory malice. A heavy, scaled snout opened, revealing rows of serrated, razor-sharp teeth. Izuku didn't bite, but he let out a localized, low-frequency aquatic hiss that vibrated the water so violently it felt like boiling.

The Shark Villain froze, paralyzed by absolute, primal terror. His predator instincts shattered, submitting instantly to the true apex of the food chain.

Izuku’s massive tail whipped around, striking the Shark Villain in the side of the head, knocking him out instantly.

Izuku grabbed the final villain and swam toward the shore. He tossed the Shark Villain onto the concrete pile with the others.

Twenty villains. Neutralized in less than two minutes. Zero casualties. Maximum trauma.

Izuku breached the surface near the edge of the lake. He pulled himself up onto the concrete shore. As he left the water, his tail retracted into his spine. The thick crocodilian scales melted away, returning to his pale, human skin. He stood up, dripping wet, breathing heavily, but entirely unharmed.

He looked over at the rusted ship. "Tsu! Mineta! It's clear!" he called out, his voice returning to its normal, nervous pitch.

On the deck of the ship, Tsuyu slowly uncovered her ears. She looked down at the water. It was completely still. She looked at the shore, seeing the massive pile of groaning, unconscious villains, and Midoriya waving at them.

"Incredible," Tsuyu murmured. She wrapped her tongue around Mineta, who was still hyperventilating, and leapt from the ship, landing gracefully on the shore next to Izuku.

"Are you guys okay?" Izuku asked, wringing out the hem of his tactical shirt.

"We're fine, Midoriya," Tsuyu said, looking at the bruised villains. "You took them all out? By yourself?"

"They were... disorganized," Izuku deflected, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. "They couldn't see me in the water. We need to go find the others. Aizawa-sensei is fighting alone in the central plaza."

"Wait, wait, wait!" Mineta cried, grabbing Izuku’s leg. "We survived! We should just run for the exit! We can't fight those monsters!"

"We have to help," Izuku said firmly, looking toward the center of the USJ.

He took a step forward, ready to sprint toward the plaza.

But then, the wind changed.

A heavy gust blew across the artificial lake, carrying the scent from the central plaza directly to Izuku.

Izuku froze mid-step. His pupils snapped into slits so thin they practically vanished. The color drained from his face.

"Midoriya?" Tsuyu asked, noticing the sudden, violent shift in his posture.

Izuku didn't answer. He couldn't.

His olfactory senses were flooded.

He smelled blood. Not the faint, metallic scent of a scraped knee. It was a heavy, coppery deluge. And it wasn't just any blood. It was the blood of an alpha. Aizawa’s blood.

He smelled bone marrow exposed to the air. He smelled the crushing, tearing destruction of human flesh.

And beneath the blood of his teacher, he smelled something else. The hulking, bird-like monster. The Nomu. Up close, the scent was abhorrent. It was an amalgamation of a dozen different genetic codes violently smashed together. It was a biological abomination. It smelled like a corpse that had been pumped full of adrenaline and forced to walk.

The Beast inside Izuku didn't just wake up. It shattered its cage.

Alpha wounded. Abomination in territory. KILL.

Izuku’s breathing stopped. The temperature around him seemed to plummet. A low, vibrating growl began to resonate in his chest, so deep that Mineta and Tsuyu could feel it in their feet.

"Midoriya, you're scaring me..." Mineta whimpered, backing away.

Izuku didn't look at them. He was staring blindly toward the plaza.

His body began to change, but it wasn't a controlled, tactical shift. It was violent, fueled by rage and pure, unadulterated instinct.

Thick, jagged, dark-green scales violently tore across his neck and jaw. His fingernails elongated into four-inch obsidian talons. His jaw unhinged with a sickening crack, his teeth sharpening into serrated blades.

He didn't care about the rules anymore. He didn't care about Thirteen’s warning. The Beast had taken over, driven by a primal need to protect its pack and obliterate the unnatural threat.

"Stay here," Izuku hissed, the voice entirely inhuman, a demonic rasp of tearing metal and prehistoric fury.

Before Tsuyu could even reach out to stop him, the ground beneath Izuku’s feet exploded into a spiderweb of cracked concrete.

He vanished, leaving nothing but a shockwave of displaced air and a cloud of dust, rocketing toward the central plaza with the speed of a cruise missile, following the scent of blood.

Shota Aizawa was intimately familiar with pain. Over his years as an underground hero, he had suffered broken ribs, lacerations, concussions, and burns. He had conditioned his mind to compartmentalize agony, to push it aside so his logical brain could continue to analyze, strategize, and fight.

But the pain he was experiencing now was entirely different. It wasn’t just pain; it was the total, absolute dismantling of his physical body.

He lay face down on the cracked concrete of the central plaza. His right arm was bent at a grotesque, impossible angle, the bones shattered into fragments. His left arm was pulverized, the elbow joint crushed entirely. But the worst of it was the immense, suffocating pressure bearing down on the back of his skull.

The creature standing over him—the hulking, bird-beaked monstrosity the hand-covered villain had called ‘Nomu’—was holding his head against the ground like a child holding a marble. Aizawa couldn't move. He couldn't breathe. His vision was swimming with black spots, the edges of his consciousness fraying.

I failed, Aizawa thought, his one un-obscured eye staring blankly at the blood pooling on the concrete beneath his nose. I couldn't protect them. I'm sorry, Thirteen. I'm sorry... kids.

A few feet away, Tomura Shigaraki scratched frantically at his own neck. The sound of his dry, flaky skin peeling beneath his fingernails was loud in the sudden quiet of the plaza. Aizawa had taken out dozens of the low-level thugs, but against this 'final boss', he had been nothing more than a minor annoyance.

"You're so cool, Eraser Head," Shigaraki muttered, his voice a raspy, petulant whine. "You really are. Fighting so hard to protect your students. But it's useless. You're a low-level character trying to tank a raid boss. Nomu isn't like the trash you just beat up. He's the anti-Symbol of Peace. He's the bio-engineered masterpiece."

Shigaraki stopped scratching and looked toward the entrance of the USJ. "But where is All Might? The schedule said he'd be here. We brought so many NPCs... we went through all the trouble of getting this aggro... and the main target isn't even here."

Shigaraki let out a long, shuddering sigh. "I guess we'll just have to kill some kids to draw him out. Nomu. Finish the teacher."

The Nomu didn't speak. It didn't roar. It possessed no will of its own. It simply tightened its grip on Aizawa's skull, preparing to crush it completely.

Then, the air in the USJ changed.

It didn't happen gradually. It was an instantaneous, localized drop in atmospheric pressure. The wind swirling through the broken plaza suddenly died. The groans of the unconscious villains scattered around ceased.

Total, suffocating silence blanketed the central plaza.

Shigaraki paused. He looked around, the severed hand covering his face twitching slightly. "Kurogiri? Did you do that? Did the game glitch?"

A few yards away, the swirling purple mist of Kurogiri coalesced into a humanoid shape. "Tomura Shigaraki... I have not done anything. But I feel... a presence. Something is approaching. Fast."

HSSSSSSSSS.

The sound echoed through the massive dome. It was a chilling, guttural hiss that seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at once. It wasn't the sound of a human lung exhaling. It was the sound of air being forced through the massive, cavernous chest cavity of a prehistoric monster. It vibrated at a frequency that bypassed the ears and sank directly into the marrow of the bones, triggering an evolutionary panic response that had been dormant in human DNA for millions of years.

Even the Nomu paused, its exposed, pulsing brain twitching as its rudimentary instincts registered a sudden, massive shift in the environment’s hierarchy.

Shigaraki stepped back, his red eyes darting around the ruined plaza. "What is that? A hidden event? Kurogiri, what is happening?!"

Two hundred yards away, standing at the edge of the Shipwreck Zone, Izuku Midoriya was gone. In his place was the Apex.

The Beast had completely synchronized with Izuku’s consciousness. There was no internal conflict, no nervous teenager trying to suppress a monster. Izuku saw Aizawa bleeding. He smelled the stench of the bio-weapon. The human boy and the prehistoric predator were united in a singular, terrifying absolute: The threat must be exterminated.

Izuku didn't perform a Full Shift. A thirty-foot dinosaur was a massive target, and against an enemy that possessed superhuman strength, offering a larger surface area was a tactical error.

Instead, Izuku compressed the mutation.

He initiated a form he had only ever theorized in his notebooks: the Semi-Full Shift.

His body grew, but only to roughly eight feet tall. The tactical black suit stretched to its absolute limit as heavily armored, dark green crocodilian scales violently erupted across his entire body. His torso thickened, packing on hundreds of pounds of hyper-dense, shock-absorbent muscle. His legs became entirely digitigrade—the reverse-jointed, coiled limbs of a theropod, ending in three massive, scythe-like talons that dug deeply into the concrete.

A thick, heavy tail, lined with jagged osteoderms, lashed out behind him, acting as a perfect counterbalance.

His face was the most terrifying alteration. It was a grotesque, awe-inspiring hybrid of man and monster. His jaw unhinged and elongated into a short, blocky snout lined with three rows of serrated, backward-curving teeth. His nose flattened into slits. His eyes lost all human white, turning into burning pools of liquid gold with razor-thin vertical pupils.

He was a bipedal, armored nightmare.

Through his thermal vision, the world was a canvas of heat. Shigaraki was a cold, bluish-purple smudge. But the Nomu... the Nomu was a blazing, chaotic sun of crimson and white heat. It was a walking furnace of stolen Quirks and tortured biology.

Prey, the Beast roared in his mind.

No, Izuku’s human intellect corrected, locking onto the target. Obstacle.

Izuku’s massive, reverse-jointed legs coiled. The muscles bulged so violently they looked like they would burst through the scales.

"Kurogiri!" Shigaraki shrieked, looking toward the Shipwreck zone. "Protect the—!"

He didn't get to finish the sentence.

Izuku didn't run. He detonated.

The concrete shore beneath his feet exploded backward in a massive crater. Izuku crossed the two-hundred-yard distance in a fraction of a second. He moved so fast he tore the air apart, leaving a visible shockwave of displaced dust and water trailing behind him.

Shigaraki barely had time to turn his head. He saw a blur of iridescent green scales, and then the world was deafened by the sound of a freight train colliding with a mountain.

Izuku slammed into the Nomu shoulder-first.

The kinetic force of the impact was apocalyptic. The Nomu, a creature designed to take punches from All Might, was completely uprooted. The shockwave of the collision blew Shigaraki entirely off his feet, sending the villain tumbling backward across the plaza. Kurogiri’s mist was temporarily scattered by the sheer wind pressure.

The Nomu was launched off Aizawa, sent skidding backward. Its massive, clawed feet dug into the concrete in a desperate attempt to arrest its momentum, tearing two deep trenches into the ground for fifty feet before it finally came to a halt.

Izuku didn't pursue immediately. He skidded to a stop, his massive, clawed feet tearing chunks of asphalt from the ground, his heavy tail whipping around to stabilize his eight-foot frame.

He stood directly over the broken, bleeding body of Shota Aizawa.

Izuku looked down. Aizawa’s eyes fluttered open. Through the blur of blood and pain, the teacher saw the monstrous, scaled legs, the heavy tail, and the terrifying, reptilian face looking down at him.

"M-Midoriya...?" Aizawa coughed, blood spilling from his lips.

Izuku didn't speak. His jaw was not built for human language in this form. Instead, he let out a soft, low rumble—a sound that, strangely, wasn't threatening. It was a deep, resonating purr, a primal sound of reassurance to a wounded pack member.

Izuku gently nudged Aizawa with the side of his foot, pushing the teacher slightly out of the immediate impact zone.

"What the hell is that?!" Shigaraki screamed, picking himself up off the ground. He pointed a trembling, pale finger at Izuku. "A student?! A student just moved my Nomu?! That's a glitch! That's hacking!"

The Nomu stood up straight. It didn't seem injured. It simply tilted its head, the exposed brain pulsing rhythmically. It let out a horrific, screeching cry, like a dying bird, and set its dead eyes on Izuku.

Izuku turned his back on Aizawa, facing the bio-weapon. He dropped into a low, predatory crouch. His arms, thick as tree trunks and ending in foot-long obsidian claws, hovered just above the ground.

"Kill it!" Shigaraki ordered, scratching his neck furiously. "Nomu, crush that scaled freak!"

The Nomu lunged.

It was incredibly fast, nearly as fast as Izuku’s initial burst. It closed the distance instantly, pulling back a fist the size of a boulder, aiming a punch that could level a skyscraper directly at Izuku’s chest.

Izuku didn't dodge. The Beast wanted to test the strength of the prey.

Izuku met the Nomu’s charge head-on. He twisted his torso, pulling back his own right arm. His muscles coiled tighter than a steel cable. He threw a punch, aiming to intercept the Nomu’s fist.

The two strikes collided in mid-air.

BOOOOOOM!

The shockwave shattered every remaining window in the USJ. The ground beneath them liquefied, sinking in a massive, ten-foot crater.

Izuku’s eyes widened in genuine shock.

His punch, carrying enough force to effortlessly decapitate a three-story battle robot, didn't shatter the Nomu's arm. It didn't even push the creature back. The kinetic energy of Izuku’s strike was simply... absorbed. The Nomu's dark, rubbery skin rippled, swallowing the concussive force completely.

Shock Absorption, Izuku’s human mind analyzed in a microsecond. Blunt force is negated.

Before Izuku could react, the Nomu’s left fist shot forward, burying itself deep into Izuku’s armored stomach.

The blow was catastrophic. Even with hundreds of pounds of dense, shock-absorbing muscle and thick crocodilian osteoderms, the force of the punch radiated through Izuku’s internal organs. It felt like being shot with a cannonball.

Izuku was launched backward, flying through the air like a ragdoll. He crashed through a concrete fountain, shattering the stone, and skipped across the ground like a skipped stone, rolling violently before his heavy tail slammed into the earth, anchoring him and stopping his momentum.

Izuku coughed, a splatter of crimson blood hitting the concrete. He clutched his stomach.

"Hahaha! Look at it!" Shigaraki cackled, dancing in place. "You thought you could out-brawl the anti-Symbol of Peace?! Nomu has Shock Absorption! Your physical attacks mean nothing! You're just a massive hitbox for him to wail on!"

Izuku wiped the blood from his serrated jaw with the back of his claw. He looked at the Nomu.

The Beast inside him wasn't afraid. It wasn't intimidated by the pain. The pain only served to sharpen its focus. The Beast was a prehistoric computer, and it had just received a massive download of data.

Blunt force fails, the Beast concluded.

Then we switch to rending, Izuku’s human mind agreed.

An apex predator does not engage a stronger opponent in a contest of brute strength. That was the tactic of herbivores, of stags locking horns. A predator relies on lethality. It relies on bleeds, severed tendons, and the surgical disassembly of the prey's anatomy.

Izuku stood up perfectly straight.

"Nomu, tear his head off!" Shigaraki yelled.

The Nomu charged again, the ground shaking with every step.

Izuku stood perfectly still. He closed his golden eyes.

As the Nomu closed within twenty feet, raising its massive fist for a killing blow, Izuku’s scales rippled. The chromatophores across his body fired in perfect unison.

To Shigaraki, the Nomu, and the watching Kurogiri, Izuku Midoriya simply ceased to exist.

He didn't fade away; he blinked out of reality.

The Nomu’s fist slammed into the empty air where Izuku had been standing a millisecond prior. The force of the missed punch tore a trench into the ground, but the creature stumbled forward, confused by the lack of resistance.

"What?!" Shigaraki gasped, stepping back. "Invisibility? No, he was a brawler type! Where did he go?!"

Silence fell over the plaza once more.

The Nomu looked around, its dead eyes uncomprehending. It lacked the intelligence to anticipate an attack from the shadows.

Through his thermal vision, Izuku was currently clinging effortlessly to the side of a ruined building thirty feet to the Nomu's left. His active camouflage rendered him completely invisible against the gray concrete. He slowed his heartbeat to a crawl. He stopped breathing. He became a ghost.

Shock absorption negates impact, Izuku thought, eyeing the massive, pulsing muscles of the Nomu's thighs. But it cannot negate a blade.

Izuku kicked off the wall.

He didn't make a sound as he sailed through the air. He dropped perfectly behind the Nomu.

SLASH.

Izuku’s right hand whipped out in a blur. His obsidian talons, honed to a molecular edge and backed by the torque of his entire body, tore through the Nomu's right calf.

The sound was sickening—a wet, heavy schllluuuck as the claws bypassed the shock-absorbing skin and severed the Achilles tendon completely.

The Nomu shrieked, its right leg giving out entirely. It crashed to one knee.

Izuku didn't linger. The moment his claws cleared the flesh, his legs coiled, and he launched himself away, his camouflage blending him into the rubble before the Nomu could even turn around.

"He cut him!" Shigaraki yelled, scratching his neck so hard blood began to well under his fingernails. "Cheater! Using stealth in a boss fight! It doesn't matter! Nomu!"

Izuku watched from the shadows of a destroyed lamppost. To his horror, the severed tendon in the Nomu's leg began to writhe. Cellular matter bubbled and hissed, knitting together at a terrifying speed. Within three seconds, the Nomu stood back up, completely healed.

Super Regeneration, Izuku analyzed, his golden eyes narrowing. Shock Absorption and Super Regeneration. It truly is a biological weapon designed to outlast All Might.

If it regenerates, the Beast hissed, we simply butcher it faster than it can heal.

The true horror of the Allosaurus wasn't just its ambush capability; it was its endurance. A T-Rex would exhaust itself in a prolonged sprint. An Allosaurus could maintain its terrifying speed and agility for extended pursuits, relying on its lightweight, hyper-efficient muscular structure to wear prey down.

Izuku initiated a deadly game of hit-and-run.

He moved like a poltergeist. The Nomu stood in the center of the plaza, a confused, enraged titan, swinging wildly at the air.

Slash.

Izuku blinked into existence for a microsecond by the Nomu's left side, his jaws unhinging. He clamped his serrated teeth into the Nomu's bicep, ripping a massive chunk of flesh away before vanishing into the dust.

The Nomu roared, swinging its other arm, but hitting nothing but empty space. The bicep began to regenerate.

Slash.

Izuku dropped from the ceiling of the dome, his claws severing the tendons in the Nomu's shoulders, dropping its arms limply to its sides for five precious seconds. He bounced off the Nomu’s chest and ricocheted away into the ruins.

"Stop it!" Shigaraki screamed, his voice cracking with genuine panic. The psychological toll of watching his ultimate weapon being slowly, systematically dismantled by an unseen force was breaking his gamer-logic mind. "Where are you?! Fight it head-on, you coward! It's the ultimate predator! It's designed to be the apex!"

Izuku appeared.

He dropped his camouflage entirely, standing a mere ten feet in front of Shigaraki and the regenerating Nomu. He was covered in Nomu’s black blood, his green scales slick with gore, his golden eyes burning with a terrifying, ethereal light.

Izuku opened his massive jaws. When he spoke, it was a sound that would haunt Shigaraki's nightmares for the rest of his life. It was a dual-layered voice—the furious, righteous tone of Izuku Midoriya overlapping perfectly with the demonic, guttural rumble of the prehistoric Beast.

"You brought a brainless weapon," Izuku hissed, the sheer volume of his voice rattling the loose stones in the plaza. "I am a hunter."

The Nomu, having regenerated its shoulders, let out a screech and charged blindly at Izuku.

It’s time to end this, Izuku thought. His muscles were burning. The Semi-Full Shift consumed a massive amount of calories and stamina. He couldn't keep this up forever. He needed to pin it down.

Izuku didn't dodge the Nomu’s charge. He stepped into it.

As the Nomu swung a massive right hook, Izuku ducked beneath it. Moving with fluid, terrifying grace, Izuku spun his body. His massive, heavy tail whipped out, wrapping itself securely around the Nomu's ankles.

With a violent jerk, Izuku pulled.

The Nomu, entirely top-heavy and relying on momentum, was swept off its feet. It crashed face-first into the concrete, shattering the ground.

Before the Nomu could even attempt to push itself up, Izuku pounced.

He leapt onto the Nomu’s back. He pinned the creature's left arm under his heavy, reverse-jointed right leg, his talons sinking deep into the concrete to anchor himself. He pinned the Nomu’s right arm with his left leg.

But the Nomu was monstrously strong. It began to buck, its back arching violently, threatening to throw the eight-foot dinosaur off.

Izuku needed total leverage.

He leaned down, his elongated, serrated jaws opening to their absolute limit. He lunged forward and clamped his jaws directly down on the back of the Nomu's neck, right below the exposed brain.

His teeth sank deeply through the shock-absorbing skin, burying into the muscle and locking onto the cervical vertebrae.

Izuku bit down with every ounce of his fifty-ton bite force.

The Nomu let out a muffled, gurgling shriek, its body thrashing violently.

Izuku held on. He became an immovable object. He used his tail to wrap around the Nomu’s waist, his claws locked into the ground, and his jaws serving as an unbreakable vise. The Nomu's Super Regeneration tried to push Izuku's teeth out, but Izuku just bit down harder, his neck muscles bulging to terrifying proportions.

It was a clash of titans. The bio-weapon designed to kill God, pinned to the earth by a prehistoric ghost.

"Get off him!" Shigaraki screamed, running forward, reaching his pale hands out to disintegrate Izuku. "Decay! I'll turn you to dust!"

Izuku couldn't move to defend himself. If he let go, the Nomu would regenerate and kill Aizawa. Izuku glared at Shigaraki from the corner of his golden eye, accepting the incoming attack.

But Shigaraki never reached him.

BANG.

A gunshot echoed through the dome.

Shigaraki cried out as a bullet pierced his right hand, shattering his wrist. He stumbled back, clutching his bleeding arm.

"Tomura Shigaraki!" Kurogiri yelled, flowing over to protect him.

The heavy steel doors at the entrance of the USJ suddenly exploded inward, blown completely off their hinges by an unseen force.

The dust cleared, revealing a massive, towering silhouette standing in the doorway.

The entire atmosphere of the USJ shifted. The crushing, primal terror that Izuku had emitted was suddenly washed away by an overwhelming, suffocating wave of pure, heroic pressure.

Izuku, still clamping down on the struggling Nomu's neck, looked up.

All Might stood at the entrance. He wasn't smiling. The Symbol of Peace was radiating an aura of sheer, unadulterated fury. The blue suit he wore seemed to strain against his muscles, his bright blue eyes locked entirely on the villains in the plaza.

"I had a bad feeling, so I tore myself away from an interview and came," All Might said, his voice devoid of its usual bombastic cheer. He tore off his tie, dropping it to the ground. "I passed young Iida on the way. He told me everything."

Shigaraki, clutching his bleeding hand, began to laugh hysterically. "Ah... ahaha... finally. The boss is here. The main event!"

All Might looked down into the plaza. He saw Aizawa, broken and bleeding. He saw the unconscious villains scattered about. And then, he saw it.

He saw the massive, eight-foot-tall, dark green reptilian monster pinning the hulking Nomu to the ground. The creature was covered in blood, its jaws locked onto the Nomu's neck, its golden eyes staring up at All Might.

All Might recognized those eyes. He remembered the Sludge Villain incident. He remembered the entrance exam.

Young Midoriya, All Might thought, a profound sense of awe and sorrow piercing his heart. You pushed yourself to the absolute limit. You held the line against this nightmare.

"It's fine now!" All Might declared, his voice echoing with absolute authority. He took a step forward, the concrete cracking beneath his boots. "I AM HERE!"

Izuku felt a wave of exhaustion wash over him. The Beast, recognizing the arrival of an ally whose strength vastly eclipsed its own, finally released its iron grip on his consciousness.

Izuku opened his jaws, pulling his teeth free from the Nomu's flesh. He uncoiled his legs and stumbled backward, his energy totally depleted.

The moment Izuku let go, the Nomu's neck rapidly healed. The creature pushed itself up off the ground, shaking its head, its dead eyes locking onto All Might.

As the Nomu stood, Izuku’s body began to steam. The thick, dark green scales rapidly melted away. His massive legs cracked and shrank, losing their digitigrade structure. His tail dissolved into vapor, and his elongated jaw snapped painfully back into a human shape.

Izuku collapsed onto the concrete, completely naked, his tactical suit having shredded entirely during the brutal combat. He lay on his back, staring up at the artificial sky of the USJ, gasping for air. His muscles felt like they were made of lead, every nerve ending screaming in agony from the Nomu’s initial punch.

He watched lazily as All Might crossed the plaza in a literal blink of an eye.

"Nomu! Kill him!" Shigaraki screamed.

All Might didn't bother with words. He met the Nomu’s charge head-on.

The resulting clash was beyond human comprehension. The shockwaves generated by their fists colliding ripped the remaining debris in the plaza to shreds. It was a contest of pure, unrelenting power—Shock Absorption against the sheer, limitless well of One For All.

Izuku watched the spectacle, too tired to move. He felt a shadow fall over him.

He turned his head slightly. Kirishima had rushed down the stairs, followed closely by Todoroki and Katsuki Bakugo.

Kirishima immediately stripped off his hero jacket and draped it over Izuku’s naked, shivering form. "Midoriya! Dude, are you alive?! What the hell was that?!"

Izuku coughed, a weak, entirely human smile touching his lips. "I... I held it down, Kirishima-kun. I held it down."

Katsuki stood a few feet away, staring at Izuku. The blonde boy’s crimson eyes were wide, a complex storm of emotions warring on his face. He had watched the fight from the stairs. He had seen the way Deku had completely outmaneuvered and dismantled a monster that was built to kill All Might.

Katsuki looked at his own hands, which were trembling slightly. He didn't just beat me in the trial, Katsuki realized, a cold sweat breaking out on his neck. He's in an entirely different league.

"Watch out!" Todoroki yelled, throwing up a wall of ice to shield them as All Might and the Nomu traded a flurry of blows that generated a localized tornado.

"A hero can always break out of a tough spot!" All Might roared, his voice bleeding with exertion. "Hey villain, have you ever heard these words?! Go beyond!"

All Might pulled his fist back, channeling the entirety of his remaining power, bypassing the Nomu's shock absorption through sheer, overwhelming force.

"PLUS... ULTRA!"

The punch connected. The shockwave blew the clouds in the USJ ceiling completely apart. The Nomu was launched into the air like a rocket, crashing straight through the reinforced steel and glass dome of the facility, vanishing into the sky like a shooting star.

Silence returned to the USJ.

All Might stood in a crater, steam rolling off his massive frame. He turned to Shigaraki, coughing up a small amount of blood, though he hid it well. "Well, villains? What will you do now?"

Shigaraki stared at the hole in the ceiling, his mind completely broken. "He cheated... the dinosaur kid chipped its health down, and All Might used a cheat code..." Shigaraki scratched his neck furiously. "Game over. Kurogiri, get us out of here."

The purple mist enveloped Shigaraki, and the two villains vanished, fleeing the absolute defeat.

The battle was over.

Izuku let out a long, shuddering sigh, closing his eyes. The Beast was entirely asleep now, exhausted by the monumental effort. Izuku just felt like a fourteen-year-old boy who wanted to go home and sleep for a week.

"Midoriya."

Izuku opened his eyes. All Might was kneeling beside him. The Symbol of Peace looked tired, but his eyes were filled with an overwhelming, paternal pride.

"You did well, my boy," All Might said softly, placing a massive, warm hand on Izuku’s shoulder. "You protected your teacher. You held the line. You are a true hero."

Izuku felt the tears finally come. He didn't have the strength to wipe them away, so he just let them fall, soaking into the concrete.

"Thank you, All Might," Izuku whispered.

As the sirens of the incoming police and pro heroes wailed in the distance, Izuku let himself drift into unconsciousness, secure in the knowledge that he had conquered the monster—both the one in the plaza, and the one within himself.
