What if Deku had an Overpowered Fusion Summoning quirk

The playground was bathed in the harsh, unapologetic light of a late summer afternoon. Woodchips scattered across the rubberized mats beneath the monkey bars, kicked up by the scuffling sneakers of a four-year-old boy trying desperately to scramble away.

Izuku Midoriya, small for his age, with a unruly mop of forest-green curls and a smattering of freckles across his cheeks, stood between the cowering boy and the undeniable king of the sandbox: Katsuki Bakugo.

Katsuki was grinning, a feral, jagged thing that didn't belong on a child’s face. Tiny sparks, akin to snapping firecrackers, popped and sizzled in the palms of his hands. His Quirk had manifested only a week prior, and already, it had elevated him to a state of neighborhood royalty. He was the sun, and the other children were merely planets caught in his explosive gravity.

"You're being mean, Kacchan!" Izuku’s voice trembled, high-pitched and breathless. His knees knocked together, knocking a steady rhythm of absolute terror. Yet, his arms remained outstretched, a fragile barricade shielding the boy crying on the ground behind him. "If you keep hurting him, uh... I'll... I'll stop you myself!"

Katsuki paused, the popping in his hands ceasing for a fraction of a second before roaring back to life with twice the intensity. Two lackeys stood behind him, snickering.

"You?" Katsuki scoffed, taking a step forward. The smell of burnt caramel and ozone hung heavy in the muggy air. "You don't even have a Quirk yet, Izuku. You're just a Deku. A useless wooden doll. What are you gonna do?"

Izuku didn't know. The doctor's appointment to determine his Quirk status wasn't scheduled until next month. All he knew was that his chest felt tight, incredibly tight, as if a coiled spring were compressing against his ribs. The heat radiating from Katsuki’s palms felt like a physical weight pressing down on him.

I have to protect him, Izuku thought, squeezing his eyes shut as Katsuki lunged forward, right hand pulled back to deliver a blistering, explosive palm strike to Izuku’s shoulder. I have to be a shield. I need something strong!

Time seemed to slow down. Izuku felt a strange, rushing sensation pool in the center of his chest, right behind his sternum. It didn't feel like a muscle flexing; it felt like a dam breaking. A sudden, frigid chill washed over his skin, instantly combating the oppressive heat of Katsuki’s explosions.

Izuku’s eyes snapped open.

From his left shoulder, a wisp of pale blue light leaked into the air, swirling and solidifying into a translucent, floating entity. It looked like a tiny, floating fairy made entirely of overlapping panes of blue glass.

From his right shoulder, a dense, heavy gray smoke poured down to the dirt, compacting and shifting until a miniature, vaguely humanoid creature made of jagged river stones stood beside his ankle.

Katsuki’s eyes widened, his fist faltering in mid-air. "What the—"

Instinct took over. Izuku didn't know what these things were, but he could feel them. They were extensions of his own pulse, tied to his nervous system by invisible tethers of energy. He felt the fragility of the glass fairy. He felt the immobility of the stone creature. Separately, they weren't enough. The fairy would shatter. The stone would crumble.

He needed them to be one.

Driven by a sheer, primal reflex, Izuku slammed his small hands together, clapping them in front of his chest with a sharp, resounding smack.

The invisible tethers snapped tight. The blue fairy and the stone creature were suddenly yanked toward the center of Izuku’s chest. They collided in mid-air.

There was no explosion. Instead, there was a brilliant, blinding flash of violet light. A sound echoed across the playground—a deep, resonant hum, like a tuning fork struck against a cathedral bell.

When the light faded, a new entity stood between Izuku and Katsuki.

It was no longer a fairy or a pile of rocks. It was a towering, six-foot-tall suit of spectral armor. The plates were made of polished, impenetrable obsidian, glowing from within with a radiant blue light. In its hands, it held a massive, kite-shaped shield that seemed to distort the air around it.

Katsuki’s momentum carried him forward. His explosive palm struck the center of the giant's shield.

BOOM!

Smoke billowed outwards, blowing Izuku’s green hair back. But the spectral knight didn't budge a single millimeter. It absorbed the kinetic force and the heat of the explosion entirely, standing like an immovable mountain.

Katsuki stumbled backward, clutching his wrist, his crimson eyes wide with absolute shock. He stared at the towering knight, then looked past it, locking eyes with Izuku.

Izuku was panting, his hands still clasped together. A thin trickle of blood ran from his left nostril, and a sharp, sudden headache pierced the front of his skull, but he was standing tall.

"What... what is that?" Katsuki whispered, the bravado completely stripped from his voice.

Izuku looked up at the towering guardian he had just breathed into existence. He could feel its immense weight, its sturdiness, its unyielding desire to protect him. Unclasping his hands, the knight immediately dissolved into a shower of harmless, glowing violet sparks that faded before they hit the woodchips.

As the adrenaline faded, Izuku’s knees finally gave out. He collapsed onto the rubber matting, the world spinning in nauseating circles. But before he blacked out, he saw Katsuki looking at him—not with pity, not with mockery, but with a burning, intense realization.

Izuku Midoriya was not a Deku.

Ten years later.

The sound of graphite scratching furiously against paper filled the Midoriya household. Izuku sat at his desk, a desk utterly cluttered with opened notebooks, loose diagrams, colored pencils, and discarded tissues.

He tapped his pencil against his lip, muttering under his breath at a speed that would make a seasoned auctioneer dizzy.

"If I take the Base Summon 'Cinder Fox' and fuse it with 'Wind Sprite', the result is 'Zephyr Hound,' which offers high mobility and moderate area-of-effect heat damage. But the stamina drain is roughly 4% of my total reserves. However, if I use 'Obsidian Golem' and 'Magma Slime', the resulting 'Volcanic Titan' drains almost 15%, plus a guaranteed mild migraine within ten minutes of manifestation..."

He wrote furiously, documenting the "Fusion Recipe" in Notebook 13, titled: Chimera Forge: Permutations and Limit Testing.

Izuku’s Quirk, officially registered as "Polymerization" (though he preferred his own moniker, Chimera Forge), was an anomaly of genetic mutation. He didn't just summon constructs made of his own bio-energy; he could synthesize them.

Generating a "Base Summon" was relatively easy. Over the years, Izuku had cataloged dozens of base forms. They were simplistic: elemental sprites, basic animalistic shapes, or crude weaponized constructs. Summoning one took a negligible toll on his physical stamina. They were useful for minor tasks—a water sprite to water his mother's plants, a small glowing orb to read under the covers.

But the true power—and the true danger—of his Quirk lay in his hands.

By physically clasping his hands together, he could force two or more Base Summons to combine, merging their properties, elements, and physical attributes into a specialized, exponentially more powerful entity.

The drawback was immense. The laws of equivalent exchange demanded a toll. Fusing creatures didn't just drain physical stamina; it taxed his nervous system and cognitive functions heavily. The more complex the fusion, or the more materials used, the greater the backlash. A standard two-summon fusion caused fatigue. Holding it for too long caused headaches. A three-summon fusion—a "Triple Threat," as he called it—guaranteed a severe migraine and a nosebleed. He had only attempted a four-summon fusion once when he was ten. He had woken up in the hospital three days later, his mother weeping by his bedside.

He had learned his limits. And he had learned how to stretch them.

"Izuku! Breakfast is ready! You're going to be late for school!" Inko Midoriya’s voice floated up from the kitchen.

"Coming, Mom!"

Izuku snapped the notebook shut. He stood up, stretching his arms above his head until his spine popped. He caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. He wasn't overly muscular, but he was lean and toned. He had spent the last three years jogging, swimming, and weightlifting. He knew that his summons could only protect him as long as he stayed conscious. If an enemy slipped past his creations and knocked him out, the fusions would vanish. He had to be resilient.

He threw on his Aldera Junior High uniform and bounded down the stairs.

The morning went by in a blur of mundane classes, culminating in the homeroom period that always set his teeth on edge.

Mr. Sato stood at the front of the class, holding a stack of career aptitude papers. "So, as third-year students, it's time to start thinking seriously about your futures. I'll pass out these printouts for your desired career paths, but..." He threw the papers into the air with a theatrical sigh. "Who am I kidding? You all want to be heroes, right?"

The classroom erupted. Quirks flashed—elongated fingers, minor water jets, glowing eyes.

"Yes, yes, you all have wonderful Quirks," the teacher chuckled. "But remember, using them in public is against the law. Oh, Bakugo. You're aiming for UA High School, aren't you?"

The room fell silent. UA was the pinnacle, a fortress of heroism with an acceptance rate lower than a fraction of a percent.

Katsuki Bakugo leaned back in his chair, his feet propped up on his desk. He looked older, sharper, a teenager carved out of pure arrogance and explosive power. "Don't lump me in with these background characters, teach. I'm not just aiming for UA. I'm going to ace the exam, become the top student, and surpass All Might himself."

The class muttered, some annoyed, some intimidated.

"Oh, right," the teacher adjusted his glasses, looking down at his clipboard. "Midoriya, you're applying for UA as well, aren't you?"

All eyes shifted to the back of the room. Izuku froze, his pencil hovering over his notebook.

Bakugo didn't laugh. He didn't sneer. Instead, he slowly lowered his feet from the desk and turned around in his chair to face Izuku. His crimson eyes narrowed, practically boring a hole through Izuku’s skull.

The dynamic between them was strange. Bakugo hadn't bullied Izuku since that day on the playground ten years ago. How could he? The "Aegis Knight" had proven that Izuku possessed a Quirk of monstrous potential. But it hadn't made them friends. Instead, it had twisted Katsuki's superiority complex into a hyper-focused, obsessive rivalry. Katsuki viewed Izuku as a hurdle, the ultimate measuring stick for his own power.

"You better not slack off on the physical exam, nerd," Bakugo said, his voice a low, dangerous growl. "Your little magic tricks won't mean a damn thing if a villain breaks your jaw before you can put your hands together. I'm going to crush you at the exams. Understand?"

Izuku met his gaze. He didn't flinch. "I've been working on my casting speed, Kacchan. You'll just have to see."

Bakugo scoffed, turning back around. "Whatever. Just don't embarrass me by failing."

Izuku looked down at his notebook. The path to UA was laid out before him. He didn't have a mentor. He hadn't been chosen by a symbol of peace. All he had was his intellect, his willpower, and a deck of infinite possibilities waiting to be drawn.

Ten months later. The day of the UA Entrance Exam.

Izuku stood before the towering, H-shaped gates of UA High School. The sheer scale of the architecture made him feel incredibly small. Around him, hundreds of teenagers milled about, their faces masks of anxiety, determination, and raw excitement.

He adjusted the straps of his green backpack, taking a deep, steadying breath. This is it. The culmination of everything.

As he took his first step toward the main building, his foot caught the edge of a raised paving stone. Gravity took hold, and Izuku found himself pitching forward, his face on a rapid collision course with the concrete.

Crap! he thought, his instincts flaring. He was about to summon a 'Cushion Slime' to break his fall when he suddenly stopped mid-air.

He floated inches above the ground, suspended by an invisible force.

"Are you okay?" a bright, cheerful voice asked.

Izuku blinked, righting himself as the anti-gravity effect wore off and his feet touched the pavement. He turned to see a girl with a short, bobbed brown haircut and permanent blush on her cheeks. She was smiling, holding her hands up to show the pads on her fingertips.

"I stopped you with my Quirk! Sorry for using it without asking, but I figured it'd be bad luck if you fell right before the exam," she chirped.

Izuku felt a flush of heat rise to his cheeks. He wasn't entirely used to talking to girls. "O-Oh! Thank you! No, I don't mind at all. That's a really amazing Quirk. Gravity manipulation? The tactile application is incredibly versatile, you could use it for rescue operations, debris clearing, or even close-quarters combat by throwing off an opponent's equilibrium—"

He realized he was muttering and clamped a hand over his mouth. "Sorry. I analyze things. I'm Izuku Midoriya."

The girl giggled, a pleasant, airy sound. "I'm Ochaco Uraraka! Don't apologize, it sounds like you really know your stuff. Let's both do our best today, Midoriya-kun!"

She waved and trotted off toward the auditorium. Izuku watched her go, a small smile playing on his lips. Okay. One positive interaction down. Now for the hard part.

Inside the massive auditorium, the Voice Hero: Present Mic explained the rules of the practical exam. It was a mock urban battlefield. Three types of villain bots—worth one, two, and three points respectively. Destroy them, get points.

"And then there's the Zero Pointer!" Present Mic yelled, striking a pose. "An arena trap! It's not worth any points, so my advice? If you see it, run the other way!"

Izuku jotted down notes in the margins of his exam ticket. Three point variants. Likely categorized by speed, armor, and firepower. I need a balanced loadout. High mobility to cover ground, decent piercing power to get through robot armor. An AoE (Area of Effect) summon might be useful if they swarm, but I need to watch my stamina.

"Excuse me!" A tall, broad-shouldered student with glasses and stiff posture stood up, chopping the air with his hand. "The printout mentions four types of villains, yet you have only explained three! If this is a misprint, then UA, the most prominent academy in Japan, should be ashamed!" The boy then turned, pointing directly at Izuku. "And you! With the curly hair! You've been muttering this entire time. It's distracting! If you are here to treat this as a game, you should leave!"

Izuku blinked, taken aback. He didn't cower, though. He stood up slightly, raising his voice just enough to carry. "I apologize if my muttering distracted you. But I'm calculating tactical approaches based on the information provided. The four bots were on the pamphlet; I assumed the speaker was getting to it for dramatic effect. Please, don't interrupt the presentation."

The glasses-wearing boy paused, his face flushing slightly. "I... see. I apologize for my outburst." He bowed stiffly and sat down.

Present Mic laughed over the speakers. "Thanks for the save, Examinee 7111! And right you are! The Zero Pointer is the fourth..."

Izuku sank back into his seat, ignoring the stares of the students around him. He needed absolute focus.

Test City Battle Center B.

Massive faux-city gates loomed over a crowd of dozens of students. Izuku stood near the front, stretching his shoulders, his hands resting lightly at his sides. He wore a dark green tracksuit, breathable and flexible.

He looked around. Uraraka was a few yards away, looking incredibly nervous. The strict boy with glasses—Tenya Iida, Izuku had overheard—was doing aggressive lunges.

"Right, let's get started!" Present Mic’s voice boomed from the observation towers. "What's wrong? There are no countdowns in real life! Run, run, run!"

The gates swung open. While the other students hesitated for a split second, processing the sudden start, Izuku was already moving.

He didn't sprint into the city. He didn't need to. He needed an army.

Running forward, Izuku let his hands drop to his waist. He called upon his energy, visualizing the blueprints in his mind.

Base Summon: Spark Pup. A small, crackling orb of yellow electricity formed at his right side.

Base Summon: Wind Hound. A swirling vortex of compressed air formed at his left side.

Izuku brought his hands together in front of his chest. Clap.

A shockwave of static electricity rippled outward, making the hair of the students behind him stand on end. The yellow orb and the wind vortex slammed into each other, violently twisting together.

"Chimera Forge," Izuku whispered.

From the flash of blinding blue light, two magnificent creatures materialized, hitting the pavement in a dead sprint beside him. They were the size of large wolves, their bodies composed of swirling, semi-translucent gale-force winds, with veins of raw, jagged yellow lightning tracing their forms like a nervous system. Their eyes glowed with predatory intensity.

Lightning Wolves. Duration limit: fifteen minutes. Stamina drain: 5%. Perfect for scouting and piercing.

"Search and destroy. Target the mechanical units," Izuku commanded.

The wolves didn't howl; they emitted a sound like tearing metal and thunder, rocketing forward at speeds no normal human could track. They turned a corner into the first intersection just as three 1-Pointer robots rolled out.

The bots raised their targeting lasers, but they were entirely too slow. The first Lightning Wolf leaped, its jaws made of compressed wind snapping shut around the neck of the first robot. A massive surge of electricity discharged, frying the robot’s internal circuits instantly. The second wolf phased right through the torso of the second robot, leaving a gaping hole of melted circuitry and ionized air in its wake.

Izuku arrived at the intersection just in time to see a 2-Pointer aiming a tail-stinger at him.

He didn't break stride. He held out his right hand. Base Summon: Iron Javelin. A crude, heavy metal spike appeared in his grip. He held out his left hand. Base Summon: Fire Sprite. A small wisp of flame flickered.

Clap.

The heavy metal javelin ignited, glowing white-hot as the fire fused with the iron. Izuku pivoted, using his momentum to hurl the "Meteor Spear" directly into the 2-Pointer's optical sensor. The robot exploded in a shower of sparks and shrapnel.

"That's four points," Izuku muttered, feeling a slight twinge in his temples. He ignored it. He needed more.

Behind him, the rest of the examinees finally flooded into the street, freezing as they witnessed a green-haired boy commanding ethereal wolves of lightning and throwing explosive spears of magma.

"What the hell is that Quirk?!" someone yelled.

Izuku didn't wait around to answer. He sprinted deeper into the city, his wolves flanking him, clearing paths of destruction.

High above the mock city, in a darkened observation room heavily walled with monitors, the faculty of UA watched the exam unfold in silence.

Nezu, the principal, a chimera of a mouse, dog, and bear, took a slow sip of his tea. "We have quite a promising batch this year. The physical augmentation Quirks are showing excellent results."

"The explosion boy in Arena A is ruthless," Midnight noted, tapping a screen showing Bakugo blasting a 3-Pointer into molten slag. "High combat potential, though his collateral damage is a bit much."

"He has the drive," a gaunt man sitting in the shadows rasped. Toshinori Yagi, secretly the number one hero All Might, leaned forward, his hollow eyes scanning the screens. He had come to UA looking for a successor to One For All, and while he had seen promising youths, none had ignited that spark of undeniable heroism he was searching for.

"Look at Arena B," Aizawa Shota—Eraserhead—said quietly, leaning over the console. He pushed a button, enlarging a specific monitor. "Examinee 7111. Midoriya Izuku."

The screen showed Izuku standing in the center of an intersection, surrounded by the smoking wreckage of at least fifteen robots. He wasn't even moving. He was orchestrating.

He summoned a bird made of pure water, fused it with a shard of ice, and created a "Glacial Falcon" that swooped down, freezing a group of 3-Pointers solid. He then casually summoned an "Earth Golem," fused it with a "Hammer Sprite," and watched as a "Quake Brute" smashed the frozen robots into crystalline dust.

"Incredible," Snipe whistled from beneath his mask. "Is it an elemental manipulation Quirk?"

"No," Nezu said, his black eyes gleaming with intense curiosity. "Look at the registry. 'Polymerization.' He creates base energy constructs and merges them. The sheer cognitive processing speed required to manage multiple autonomous units, calculate their elemental synergies, and command them in real-time... it's staggering."

"He's at forty-five points already," Midnight said, checking the scoreboard. "He's barely breaking a sweat."

Aizawa narrowed his eyes, analyzing Izuku’s movements. "Look closer. He is sweating. Every time he claps his hands to fuse a summon, there's a micro-expression of pain. The Quirk requires a toll. He's managing it well, but it's draining his stamina. Furthermore, notice his positioning. He always stays behind his summons. His physical body is completely un-augmented. If an enemy has the speed to bypass his constructs, or the durability to tank them, he's wide open."

All Might watched the boy on the screen. There was undeniable power there. Tactical genius. But power alone didn't make a hero. What will you do when your back is against the wall, young man?

Nezu set his teacup down with a soft click. "Well then, shall we test their mettle? Let's see how our prospective heroes handle an insurmountable obstacle."

He flipped a small, red switch on the control panel.

Down in Arena B, Izuku leaned against a brick wall, catching his breath. He dismissed his Glacial Falcon and the Quake Brute, letting them dissolve into sparks. The continuous upkeep was starting to give him a dull ache behind his eyes, a familiar prelude to a migraine.

He checked his mental counter. Sixty-two points. That should be more than enough to pass the practical.

Suddenly, the ground beneath his feet began to tremble. Loose pebbles danced on the pavement.

A shadow fell over the street, blocking out the artificial sunlight.

Izuku looked up. At the far end of the main avenue, several buildings were pushed aside like cardboard boxes. A colossal, olive-green robotic monstrosity rolled into view on massive tank treads. It was easily the size of a skyscraper, its single, glowing red eye sweeping over the panicked students below.

The Zero Pointer, Izuku realized, his breath catching in his throat.

"Run!" someone screamed. "It's the arena trap!"

The examinees didn't need to be told twice. A mass exodus began, students using their Quirks not to fight, but to flee as fast as possible. The Zero Pointer raised a massive, hydraulic arm and slammed it into the side of a building, sending a shower of concrete debris raining down onto the street.

Izuku turned to run. There was no point in fighting it. It was a gimmick, designed to test survival instincts.

But as he pivoted, a sound caught his ear over the cacophony of grinding metal and screaming teenagers.

A cry of pain.

Izuku stopped. He looked back over his shoulder.

Through the dust and smoke, he saw her. The nice girl from the front gates. Uraraka. Her leg was trapped under a massive slab of concrete that had fallen from the building. She was struggling, using her gravity Quirk on the rubble, but she was exhausted, her face pale, unable to lift the sheer weight of it.

The Zero Pointer’s treads ground against the asphalt, rolling slowly, inevitably, toward her.

Izuku didn't think. The same instinct that had flared ten years ago on that playground ignited in his chest. A raging inferno of absolute necessity.

I have to protect her.

He turned around and sprinted toward the towering mechanical titan.

"Hey! What are you doing?!" Iida yelled, running in the opposite direction. "Are you insane?!"

Izuku ignored him. He ran until he was standing a mere fifty yards from the colossal machine. The sheer size of it was paralyzing, casting a terrifying aura that screamed of human insignificance.

He couldn't beat it with standard fusions. A Glacial Falcon would shatter against its hull. A Lightning Wolf wouldn't even dent its treads.

He needed absolute, overwhelming power. He needed a Triple Fusion.

Izuku took a deep breath, dropping into a wide stance. He closed his eyes, tuning out the rumbling earth, the screams, the danger. He reached deep into the core of his energy reserves, pulling at the threads of his Quirk until his chest burned.

Base Summon One.

He extended his right arm straight out. A massive volume of brown, dense energy poured from his palm, solidifying into a twelve-foot-tall, hulking mass of compacted bedrock. An Earth Golem.

Base Summon Two.

He extended his left arm. A shrieking vortex of golden electricity and blue wind burst forth, shaping into a giant avian construct with wings made of jagged lightning. A Thunder Bird.

Izuku’s nose began to bleed. The copper taste flooded his mouth. His vision swam, the edges of his sight turning fuzzy with static. Two massive summons at once was pushing his limit. But he wasn't done.

Base Summon Three.

He focused on his chest. Silver, metallic liquid seeped through his tracksuit, pooling in front of him and rising upward into a knight clad in impenetrable, reflective armor. An Iron Gladiator.

Three Base Summons. Earth. Lightning. Iron.

The pressure in Izuku's skull was immense, a throbbing agony that threatened to split his head open. The air around him grew heavy, vibrating with unstable energy.

"Get away!" Uraraka cried out from beneath the rubble, seeing him standing there.

Izuku opened his eyes. They weren't green anymore; they were glowing with a terrifying, blinding, multi-colored light.

He raised his hands, palms facing each other, a foot apart. The energy resistance was like trying to push two opposing high-powered magnets together. His arms shook violently, muscles straining, tendons popping.

"CHIMERA..." Izuku roared, his voice layered with the resonant, ethereal hum of the energy he was manipulating.

With a final, agonizing push, he slammed his hands together.

"...FORGE!"

CLANG.

It wasn't a clap. It was the sound of a meteor striking an anvil.

A shockwave of pure, concussive force erupted from Izuku, shattering the windows of every building in a three-block radius. The dust was blown away instantly. Uraraka squeezed her eyes shut, crying out as the wind battered her.

The three massive Base Summons—the Golem, the Bird, and the Gladiator—were yanked into a swirling singularity directly above Izuku's head. The sky darkened as ambient electricity was drawn into the vortex.

From the blinding pillar of light, a gargantuan foot stepped out, cracking the asphalt beneath it.

The students who were fleeing stopped dead in their tracks, turning around in absolute horror and awe.

Standing between Izuku and the Zero Pointer was a monstrosity of magic and nature.

It stood sixty feet tall, rivaling the robot in height. Its body was composed of dark, jagged earth and indestructible iron plating, weaving together like muscle and bone. Across its chest and down its massive arms, veins of raging, golden lightning pulsed, powering the titan from within. It wore a gladiator's helm forged of silver steel, and from its back, two massive wings of crackling electricity spread wide, casting a terrifying glow over the city.

Triple Fusion: Colossal Storm Titan.

Izuku fell to one knee, panting heavily. Blood dripped steadily from his nose, staining the pavement. He was operating on fumes, sheer willpower holding the tether to the titan intact. He pointed a trembling, bloodstained finger at the Zero Pointer.

"Smash it."

The Storm Titan moved. Despite its massive size, the lightning coursing through its veins gave it terrifying speed. It surged forward, the ground exploding beneath its feet.

The Zero Pointer raised its hydraulic arm to swat the anomaly away.

The Titan didn't dodge. It reached out with its left hand, catching the robot's descending fist. The impact created a sonic boom, but the Titan’s feet remained firmly planted, its iron-reinforced earth body absorbing the blow effortlessly.

Then, the Titan raised its right hand toward the sky. The lightning wings on its back flared violently. The electrical energy condensed, flowing down its arm and shaping into a massive, blinding broadsword of pure, hyper-compressed plasma and iron.

With a mechanical groan, the Zero Pointer tried to pull back.

It was too late.

The Storm Titan swung the sword in a horizontal arc. The blade of lightning and iron sheared through the air, creating a vacuum that ripped the shingles off nearby roofs.

The blade struck the waist of the Zero Pointer. There was no resistance. The superheated plasma melted through the colossal armor plating instantly, while the sheer kinetic force of the iron core cleaved the internal structures.

SHHHHHRRIIIIIIIIK.

A beat of absolute silence fell over the arena.

Then, the top half of the towering mechanical behemoth slowly began to slide backward. It toppled over, crashing into the street behind it with an earth-shattering explosion that sent a mushroom cloud of fire and smoke high into the sky.

The bottom half of the robot sparked, sputtered, and completely shut down, a massive, glowing orange scar across its chassis where it had been cut.

The Storm Titan stood victorious, lowering its plasma sword.

In the observation room, there was complete, utter silence.

Midnight’s jaw had dropped, her pen falling from her hand and clattering onto the console. Snipe was gripping the edge of his seat, his knuckles white. Eraserhead’s eyes were wide, his usual apathy completely shattered.

All Might stood up, his massive hands pressed against the glass window, staring at the monitor. His heart pounded in his chest. That boy... he possesses the power of a one-man army. And he used it... to save a single life.

Down in Arena B, Izuku watched the robot fall. A wave of overwhelming relief washed over him, immediately followed by the crushing backlash of his Quirk.

The Storm Titan shattered, not fading gracefully, but violently bursting into thousands of shards of useless light. The invisible tether snapped.

Izuku felt a searing pain spike directly through the center of his brain. His eyes rolled back into his head, and he collapsed forward onto the pavement, completely unconscious before he even hit the ground.

A week later, Izuku sat at the small dining table in his apartment. He was still nursing a mild headache, a lingering phantom pain from the Triple Fusion.

His mother, Inko, paced nervously behind him, wringing her hands.

On the table sat a single, unassuming envelope stamped with the crimson seal of UA High School.

"Do... do you want me to open it, Izuku?" she asked, her voice trembling.

Izuku shook his head. He reached out, his fingers brushing the thick paper. He tore the seal and tipped the envelope upside down.

A small, metal disc slid out, clattering against the wood.

Suddenly, the disc projected a holographic screen into the air.

"I AM HERE AS A PROJECTION!" All Might’s booming voice filled the small kitchen.

Izuku gasped, pushing his chair back. "All Might?!"

"Greetings, Young Midoriya!" The holographic hero smiled warmly. "I know this is a surprise, but I am to be a faculty member at UA starting this year! And it is my distinct pleasure to deliver your results!"

The screen shifted, showing a scoreboard.

"You scored sixty-two points in the practical exam!" All Might announced. "More than enough to pass! However..."

The screen changed again, showing footage from the exam. It was Izuku, turning back to face the colossal robot. It showed him pulling energy from the ether, standing before a god-like titan of storm and earth, commanding it to destroy the machine to protect a single girl.

"In the hero course, we don't just judge your ability to fight villains. We judge your ability to save people! Rescue points! A hidden metric of the exam!"

The scoreboard reappeared.

Midoriya Izuku.

Villain Points: 62.

Rescue Points: 60.

Total: 122 Points. 1st Place.

Izuku stared at the number. One hundred and twenty-two.

"Young Midoriya," All Might’s hologram leaned forward, looking directly into the camera with an expression of deep respect. "Your Quirk is terrifyingly powerful. But power without a compass is just destruction. You proved that your power is a shield for the defenseless. A sword to strike down the insurmountable."

All Might extended a hand toward the camera.

"Come, Izuku Midoriya. This is your Hero Academia."

The hologram fizzled out.

Tears pricked the corners of Izuku’s eyes. He didn't wipe them away. He looked down at his hands—the hands that could forge monsters out of thin air. They were trembling, but not from fear.

He clenched his fists, feeling the latent energy humming just beneath his skin, waiting to be drawn, waiting to be fused.

The deck of infinite possibilities was in his hands. And he was going to play every single card to become the greatest hero the world had ever seen.

The morning sun filtered through the curtains of Izuku Midoriya’s bedroom, casting long, golden geometric patterns across the floorboards. Izuku sat on the edge of his bed, already fully dressed in the pristine, stiff gray-and-green uniform of UA High School. He stared down at his hands.

He slowly pressed his palms together, applying just a fraction of pressure, feeling the familiar, dormant hum of his Quirk vibrating just beneath his skin. It felt like a low-voltage electrical current, a reservoir of limitless potential waiting for the floodgates to open.

It had been weeks since the entrance exam, yet the memory of the Colossal Storm Titan still sent phantom spikes of pain through his temples. He had pushed himself far beyond his safe limits that day. The doctors had told his mother it was a miracle he hadn't suffered a severe cerebral hemorrhage.

“Your Quirk is tied to your nervous system,” Recovery Girl had scolded him while handing him a cup of medicinal tea in the infirmary. “You aren’t just creating things out of thin air, sonny. You are actively forcing distinct, complex energy signatures to merge. It’s like trying to force two opposing magnets together using only the muscles in your brain. Do it too hard, and something is going to snap.”

He had taken her words to heart. His notebook, Chimera Forge: Permutations and Limit Testing, now had a thick red warning written on the first page: DO NOT EXCEED TRIPLE FUSIONS UNLESS DEATH IS AN ACCEPTABLE OUTCOME.

"Izuku! You're going to miss your train!" Inko’s voice called from the kitchen, breaking his reverie.

"Coming, Mom!" Izuku grabbed his yellow backpack, stuffing his latest notebooks inside, and hurried out the door.

The train ride to Musutafu was a blur of nervous energy. Izuku stood holding onto an overhead strap, his mind racing through tactical scenarios. UA wasn't just a school; it was a gauntlet. He was entering the premier hero academy in the nation, stepping into an arena filled with the best and brightest. He didn't have a flashy physical augmentation Quirk. If someone snuck up on him, he was just Izuku—a fifteen-year-old kid who hit the gym a few times a week. He had to rely on his mind, his reaction time, and his deck of summons.

When he finally passed through the towering security gates of the campus, the sheer scale of the building made him swallow hard. Finding Class 1-A was an entirely different trial. The hallways were labyrinthine, the ceilings impossibly high. When he finally found the door marked with a massive, crimson '1-A', he stopped dead in his tracks.

The door is huge. Is it for students with gigantification Quirks? Izuku thought, his hand hovering over the handle. Okay. Just breathe. Whoever is in there, just be polite. Don't let Bakugo intimidate you. Don't mutter too much.

He slid the massive door open.

"Take your feet off that desk this instant!"

The familiar, booming voice of the strict boy from the auditorium echoed through the room. Tenya Iida, now wearing the UA uniform with rigid perfection, was chopping the air aggressively at Katsuki Bakugo.

Bakugo was leaning back in his chair, his feet propped up on his desk, an arrogant smirk plastered across his face. "Huh? What'd you say, Four-Eyes?"

"It is disrespectful to your upperclassmen and the craftsmen who made this desk! You are tarnishing the traditions of UA!" Iida reprimanded, adjusting his square glasses.

"Tarnishing? Hah! What middle school did you go to, you extra? I'll crush you," Bakugo sneered, small sparks popping from his fingertips.

Izuku stood in the doorway, suddenly feeling a strong urge to slide the door shut and walk back home. But before he could, Iida turned, his eyes locking onto Izuku’s green hair.

"Ah! It's you!" Iida abandoned his argument with Bakugo and marched straight toward the door.

The entire classroom fell silent. Every pair of eyes turned toward the entrance. Whispers instantly broke out among the gathered teenagers.

"Is that him?"

"The green-haired kid? Yeah, that's the one."

"I was in Arena B. I saw it. He summoned a literal god and cut the Zero Pointer in half."

"I heard he got over a hundred points!"

"They’re calling him the 'Summoner'. Look at him, he doesn't even look that strong."

Izuku felt his face flush a deep, violent shade of red. He gripped the straps of his backpack, suddenly wishing he could summon an 'Invisibility Slime' and melt into the floorboards.

"Good morning!" Iida bowed rigidly, at a perfect ninety-degree angle. "I am Tenya Iida from Somei Private Academy! I must apologize for my behavior at the auditorium! You realized the hidden nature of the practical exam, while I was completely blind to it. I judged you hastily. You are clearly the superior candidate!"

"O-Oh! No, no, I didn't realize anything!" Izuku stammered, waving his hands frantically. "I just... I just saw someone in trouble and moved! It wasn't a calculated thing!"

"He's modest, too!" a girl with pink skin and small horns whispered loudly to a boy with spiky red hair.

"Hey! It's the falling boy!"

Izuku looked past Iida to see Ochaco Uraraka bounding toward him, her face lit up with a massive smile. "I'm so glad you made it! I knew you would, especially after what you did! That was amazing! The way the giant statue guy swung that massive sword—woosh! And then it was like, BAM! It was the coolest thing I've ever seen!"

"Oh, hi Uraraka-san," Izuku smiled, some of his tension melting away at her friendly demeanor. "I'm glad you made it too. Your Quirk is incredible, I'm sure you scored really high."

Behind them, Bakugo ground his teeth together. The pencil he was holding snapped cleanly in half. He glared at Izuku, his crimson eyes burning with a mix of fury and unyielding competitiveness. Enjoy the spotlight while you can, Deku. I'm going to rip it right out from under you.

"If you're just here to make friends, you can pack up your things and leave."

The voice was tired, low, and completely devoid of inflection.

Izuku, Uraraka, and Iida jumped, looking down at the floor. Lying in the hallway, inching into the classroom like a massive, yellow caterpillar, was a man in a sleeping bag.

With a zip, the sleeping bag opened, and a scruffy, exhausted-looking man with long, unkempt black hair and a scarf made of strange, metallic fabric stepped out. He pulled a juice pouch from his pocket and took a long sip, surveying the frozen teenagers with half-lidded, bloodshot eyes.

"It took you eight seconds to quiet down. Time is a limited resource. You kids aren't rational enough."

Izuku’s mind raced. He's a teacher? That means he's a Pro Hero. But he looks so worn out. Unkempt hair, capture weapon scarf... Wait! Is that the Underground Hero: Eraserhead? He completely avoids the media!

"I'm Shota Aizawa. Your homeroom teacher," the man stated bluntly.

The class gasped collectively. This was their homeroom teacher?

Aizawa reached into his sleeping bag and pulled out a stack of blue and white tracksuits. "Right. Put these on and head out to the physical education grounds. We're doing a Quirk Apprehension Test."

Ten minutes later, Class 1-A stood on a massive dirt field under the blazing morning sun.

"A Quirk Apprehension Test?!" the class shouted in unison.

"What about the entrance ceremony? Or orientation?" Uraraka asked, looking distressed.

Aizawa stood with his hands in his pockets, his posture slouched. "If you're going to become heroes, you don't have time for leisurely events. UA's selling point is its unrestricted traditions. That goes for how the teachers run their classes, too."

He held up a handheld digital device. "You kids have been doing these tests since junior high. Pitching, long jump, fifty-meter dash, grip strength. But you always did them without using your Quirks. The country is still using a fundamentally flawed system of averaging results that completely ignores physiological anomalies. It's irrational."

Aizawa turned his gaze toward Bakugo. "Bakugo, you finished first in the practical exam without rescue points. What was your best softball throw in junior high?"

Bakugo stepped forward, looking entirely unbothered. "Sixty-seven meters."

"Try doing it with your Quirk." Aizawa pointed to a chalk circle drawn in the dirt. "Anything goes, as long as you stay in the circle. Don't hold back."

Bakugo smirked, cracking his neck. He stepped into the circle, picking up a specialized, reinforced baseball. He stretched his arm back.

He's going to add explosive propulsion to the kinetic energy of the throw, Izuku analyzed silently, watching Bakugo’s posture.

"DIIIIIE!" Bakugo roared.

With a deafening BOOM, a massive explosion erupted from Bakugo’s palm just as the ball left his fingertips. The concussive shockwave blew dirt and dust back over the class. The ball shot into the sky like a mortar shell, leaving a trail of black smoke behind it.

Izuku shielded his eyes, watching the ball disappear into the clouds.

Aizawa held up the digital device. It beeped. "Know your own maximum first. That is the most rational way to form the foundation of a hero." He turned the screen around.

705.2m

The class erupted into cheers and gasps.

"Seven hundred meters?! Are you kidding me?!" a boy with a lightning bolt in his hair yelled.

"That looks like so much fun!" Ashido, the pink girl, cheered.

"We can use our Quirks as much as we want! This is exactly what the hero course is all about!" yelled a boy with tape dispensers for elbows.

Aizawa’s eyes narrowed. The temperature on the field seemed to drop several degrees.

"'It looks like fun', you say?" Aizawa's voice was deathly quiet, yet it carried over the wind. "You have three years to become heroes. Are you going to have an attitude like that the whole time?"

He smiled, a terrifying, feral grin that made the students physically recoil. "Alright. New rule. Whoever comes in last place in all eight tests will be judged to have no potential, and will be punished with expulsion."

"EXPULSION?!"

"You can't do that!" Uraraka protested, stepping forward. "It's the first day of school! Even if it wasn't, that's completely unfair!"

"Natural disasters are unfair," Aizawa countered sharply, stepping toward the students. "Villains attacking innocents are unfair. Sudden accidents are unfair. The world is filled with unfairness. If you want to be a Pro Hero, you're going to have to push back against that unfairness. For the next three years, UA will throw terrible hardships at you. Plus Ultra. Overcome it with all you've got."

He gestured to the field. "The demonstration is over. The real thing starts now."

Izuku stared at Aizawa, his heart pounding in his chest. Expulsion. He isn't bluffing. I can see it in his eyes.

He looked down at his own hands. The other students were panicking, whispering frantically about how they were going to fail. But Izuku didn't feel panic. He felt a cold, calculating calm settle over his mind.

Eight tests, Izuku thought. Fifty-meter dash. Grip strength. Standing long jump. Repeated side steps. Ball throw. Distance run. Sit-ups. Seated toe-touch. I need to use my Quirk to augment my physical abilities for almost all of them. But Fusions drain my stamina and cause mental fatigue. If I use a complex Fusion for the first test, I'll be too exhausted by the eighth test and my baseline physicals won't be enough to keep me out of last place.

He began to mentally sort through his "Deck" of Base Summons. He didn't need a Triple Fusion today. He didn't need to destroy a colossal robot. He just needed absolute efficiency.

Resource management. That's the puzzle. I have a mana pool, and I have to budget it across eight encounters.

"Test One. Fifty-Meter Dash," Aizawa called out, pointing to a track equipped with automated sensor gates.

"Iida Tenya. Midoriya Izuku. You're up first."

Izuku stepped up to the starting line. Iida took his place in the lane next to him, dropping into a flawless, professional sprinter's crouch. Vents protruding from Iida's calves hissed as he revved his Engine Quirk.

"I look forward to seeing the power that defeated the zero-pointer, Midoriya-kun!" Iida said respectfully, his engines whining with blue exhaust.

"I won't be using that one, Iida-kun," Izuku replied, standing straight up. He didn't drop into a crouch. "But I'll give it my all."

Bakugo stood on the sidelines, his arms crossed, his eyes burning holes into the back of Izuku’s head. Let's see what you do when you can't just hide behind a giant monster, Deku.

Izuku closed his eyes.

Base Summon One: Wind Elemental. A small, swirling vortex of compressed air materialized at his left hip.

Base Summon Two: Cheetah Spirit. A translucent, golden silhouette of a wildcat formed at his right hip.

He didn't need an autonomous entity. If he summoned a creature to carry him, it would count as a mount, and Aizawa might penalize him for not moving his own body. He needed to augment his own physical form. He needed the technique he had been practicing for the last two years.

"Ready?" the robotic voice from the camera called out.

Izuku brought his hands together.

Clap.

A flash of pale green light erupted from his hands. But instead of the energy flying forward to form a creature, Izuku slammed his fused hands down onto his own thighs.

"Armament Fusion!" Izuku muttered.

The green light spiraled down his legs, solidifying rapidly. To the awe of the watching class, spectral armor materialized over Izuku's track pants. They looked like greaves forged from tempered glass, swirling with internal cyclones of trapped air. Golden, sleek aerodynamic fins protruded from the calves, humming with kinetic energy.

Zephyr Greaves. Stamina Drain: 3%. Duration: 2 minutes.

"On your marks..."

Izuku felt completely weightless. His feet barely touched the dirt. The compressed air within the spectral armor was practically begging to be released.

"Get set..."

"GO!"

BOOM.

Iida launched off the starting block like a bullet, crossing the fifty meters in a blur of blue exhaust.

"3.04 seconds!" the machine announced for Iida.

But a split second before Iida crossed the finish line, a gust of gale-force wind blasted past him, nearly knocking the taller boy off balance.

"1.88 seconds!" the machine announced.

The class stared in disbelief. Izuku was already standing past the finish line, the dust settling around him. The Zephyr Greaves on his legs hissed, venting out excess air pressure.

"Whoa!" Kaminari grabbed his own hair. "Did he just outrun Iida?! I thought his Quirk was summoning things!"

"He equipped the summon to himself as armor!" Yaoyorozu Momo observed, her eyes wide with analytical appreciation. "He didn't create a separate entity. He used the conceptual properties of wind and a cheetah to directly enhance his own mobility. The versatility is astounding."

Bakugo grit his teeth. "Tch. Flashy parlor tricks."

Izuku dispelled the greaves, feeling a slight twinge of fatigue in his legs, but nothing major. He mentally checked off the 3% drain. Good. Seven tests left. Need to keep conserving.

"Test Two. Grip Strength," Aizawa announced.

They moved to the sidelines where several digital grip-meters were laid out. A massive boy with multiple arms, Shoji, was crushing his meter, scoring an impressive 540 kilograms.

Izuku picked up a device. He couldn't rely on his baseline strength—he’d only score around 45 kilograms.

He held the device in his right hand. With his left hand, he summoned a tiny, gray Iron Orb. With his right hand, beneath the device, he summoned a Goliath Beetle Spirit.

He couldn't clap his hands without dropping the meter, so he used a more difficult technique. He pushed the two energies together along his forearms, letting them collide at his wrist.

Armament Fusion: Titanium Pincer.

His right hand was momentarily enveloped in thick, metallic, jagged armor resembling a beetle's mandible. He squeezed.

The machine let out a horrific crunching noise.

410 kg.

Izuku released the fusion immediately. Stamina Drain: 2%. I have to be careful not to actually break the machine, or Aizawa might deduct points.

"Test Three. Standing Long Jump."

Izuku stood at the edge of the sandbox. He looked across the pit. A boy named Aoyama used a laser from his navel to fly over it. Bakugo used explosions to propel himself cleanly across.

Izuku calculated. Armament Fusion: Spring + Rabbit = Coil Boots.

He summoned the base components, merged them into his boots, and crouched. The spectral springs groaned under the tension. He leaped. He didn't just clear the sandbox; he sailed nearly fifteen feet over it, landing gracefully on the grass beyond. Stamina Drain: 2%.

"Test Four. Repeated Side Steps."

This was trickier. Izuku couldn't use the Zephyr Greaves, as the burst of speed was too difficult to control for micro-movements. Instead, he placed his hands on the ground.

Summon: Repulsion Slimes.

He didn't fuse them. He placed two bouncy, dense blue slimes on either side of the chalk lines. When the whistle blew, Izuku threw himself into the left slime. It rebounded him violently to the right. He hit the right slime, which rebounded him to the left. He bounced back and forth between his own summons like a pinball, racking up an absurdly high score before dismissing them. Stamina Drain: 1%.

Aizawa watched from the sidelines, marking data onto his tablet. Midoriya Izuku. He’s treating this like a tactical RPG. He isn't wasting a single ounce of energy. He analyzes the parameters of the test, calculates the most efficient combination of his constructs, and executes perfectly. His intelligence is off the charts.

Aizawa looked up from his tablet, his tired eyes narrowing. But... it's a crutch. He relies entirely on the activation of his Quirk. There is a delay. A split second between the manifestation of the base components and the fusion. In a real battle, against a villain who specializes in speed or stealth... that split second is the difference between life and death. I need to see how he reacts when that safety net is removed.

"Test Five. Pitching."

The class gathered back at the chalk circle where Bakugo had thrown his explosive softball. Uraraka stepped up to the plate. She touched the ball, removing its gravity, and tossed it into the air.

The machine beeped with an infinity symbol.

"Infinity?!" the class cheered. "That's amazing!"

Izuku smiled, happy for her. But as she stepped out of the circle, his smile faded. It was his turn.

"Midoriya. You're up," Aizawa called out.

Izuku took the softball from Aizawa and stepped into the chalk circle. He looked out over the massive, empty dirt field.

He was currently at about 8% stamina drain. He felt fine. A little thirsty, but perfectly capable. This was the test where brute force was paramount. He needed to secure his position at the top of the leaderboard to ensure he wouldn't be expelled.

He closed his eyes. I need something heavy. Something with explosive propulsion, but I can't equip it to my arm or the recoil might dislocate my shoulder. I need an autonomous construct to fire it for me.

He held his hands out to his sides.

Base Summon One: Cannon Golem.

A large, bulky construct made of heavy cast iron and brass began to form on his right side, resembling a squat, bipedal artillery piece.

Base Summon Two: Gravity Core.

A swirling orb of dense, purple, space-warping energy began to hum on his left side.

Izuku took a deep breath. If I fuse these, I can create a Railgun Fiend. The gravity core will create a magnetic acceleration tunnel, and the Cannon Golem will provide the structural integrity to house the pressure.

He brought his hands together to initiate the fusion.

Suddenly, the familiar hum of his Quirk vanished.

The heavy iron of the Cannon Golem evaporated into thin air. The humming purple gravity core popped like a soap bubble.

Izuku’s hands slapped together, producing nothing but a hollow smack of flesh against flesh.

He froze. His mind short-circuited. He tried to draw on his energy again, but it felt like a heavy, lead blanket had been thrown over his internal reservoir. He was completely, utterly powerless.

"What...?" Izuku gasped, looking at his hands.

"I erased your Quirk."

Izuku whipped his head around. Aizawa was glaring at him. The teacher's long black hair was floating wildly in the air, defying gravity. His capture weapon scarf writhed around his neck like a nest of vipers. But most notably, Aizawa's eyes were glowing a brilliant, piercing red.

"Eraserhead," Izuku breathed, finally confirming his suspicion. "You can erase Quirks by looking at them."

"Your tactical decisions are impressive, Midoriya," Aizawa said, his voice cold and cutting. "You conserve your energy. You use the minimal amount of force required to achieve maximum results. You're smart. But you're entirely too reliant on your creations."

Aizawa took a step toward the circle. "I watched you in the entrance exam. You hide behind your fusions. You stood fifty yards away while your Titan fought the Zero Pointer. What happens if a villain gets the drop on you? What happens if you run into an opponent whose speed surpasses your casting time?"

Izuku swallowed hard, clutching the softball.

"You take too long to set up," Aizawa continued harshly. "If a villain with a knife had been standing three feet in front of you just now, you'd be dead before your hands even touched. You think your armor will protect you? You have to activate it first. And beneath that spectral armor, you're just a kid. You have no physical augmentations. No passive durability."

Aizawa’s hair fell back down to his shoulders. His eyes stopped glowing. "I've returned your Quirk. You have one throw. If you just summon another monster to do the work for you while you stand still, you're not a hero. You're a liability."

The entire class was dead silent. Bakugo was smirking, thoroughly enjoying the dressing down Izuku was receiving.

Izuku stood in the circle, looking down at the dirt. Aizawa's words stung, but not because they were cruel. They stung because they were true.

Izuku had known this. It was why he had started working out. It was why he developed Armament Fusion. But Aizawa was right; the activation time was a fatal flaw. If he was caught off guard, he was helpless.

I can't change my casting time in an instant, Izuku thought, his grip on the softball tightening. But I can change how I apply the fusion. I can't just be a commander standing in the backlines. I have to put my own body on the line. I have to be the weapon.

Izuku looked up. His green eyes burned with renewed determination.

"You're right, Aizawa-sensei," Izuku said softly. "I have a fatal flaw. But I'm here to fix it."

Izuku didn't hold his hands out to the sides this time. He held the softball in his right hand.

He didn't summon the Cannon Golem. He didn't summon the Gravity Core.

Instead, he channeled the raw conceptual energy of those two summons directly into his own right arm.

Base Summon Concept: Kinetic Artillery.

Base Summon Concept: Gravitational Acceleration.

He didn't clap his hands. He pressed his left hand flat against his right bicep.

"Armament Fusion..." Izuku gritted his teeth as a blinding, violet light engulfed his entire right arm.

The pain was immediate and excruciating. He wasn't wrapping his arm in armor this time; he was fusing the destructive properties of a railgun directly into his own musculature for a fraction of a second. His veins bulged, glowing a toxic, radioactive purple. The air around his arm distorted heavily, a visible aura of gravity warping the light.

Railgun Arm. Stamina Drain: 20%. Physical Toll: Severe.

"He's applying the fusion internally!" Yaoyorozu gasped, covering her mouth. "He's going to blow his own arm off!"

Izuku ignored the burning agony. He stepped back with his right foot, winding his glowing arm up like a baseball pitcher. The sheer gravitational pressure condensing around his fist made the ground beneath his feet crack and splinter.

"SMAAAASH!" Izuku roared, channeling everything he had into a single, explosive kinetic release.

He threw the ball.

KRACK-BOOOOOOM!

The sound was deafening, a literal sonic boom that shattered the silence of the testing field. A massive ring of compressed air exploded outward from Izuku's position, knocking several students off their feet.

The softball didn't just fly; it vanished, instantly breaking the sound barrier, leaving a perfectly straight, superheated trail of vapor in the sky that stretched far beyond the horizon.

Izuku stood in the circle, panting heavily. The violet light faded from his arm. His sleeve was completely shredded. His right arm was bruised a deep purple, the muscles trembling violently from the sheer recoil, but it wasn't broken. He had managed to disperse the kinetic backlash just enough to save his bones.

He turned his head to look at Aizawa, fighting through the wave of nausea and the sharp spike of a migraine forming behind his eyes.

"Sensei..." Izuku breathed, clutching his bruised arm. "I... I can still fight."

Aizawa stared at the boy. For a moment, the underground hero's expression remained completely unreadable. Then, slowly, he raised the digital device in his hand.

It beeped.

Aizawa turned the screen toward the class.

2,410.5m

The silence on the field was absolute. No one cheered. They were too stunned. Izuku hadn't just beaten Bakugo's score; he had completely obliterated it. He had turned his own body into a weapon of mass destruction.

"Over two kilometers..." Kaminari whispered, his jaw practically touching the dirt.

"That's... that's insane," Kirishima muttered, his eyes wide.

Bakugo stood frozen on the sidelines. His hands were shaking. Not from fear, but from an overwhelming, suffocating surge of rage and disbelief. Two thousand meters. He didn't even use a monster. He just... he just used himself. How? How is he this strong?!

"Deku..." Bakugo growled, his palms sparking violently. He took a step toward the circle. "Hey! Tell me what's going on, Deku! You bastard!"

Bakugo lunged forward, raising a hand to blast Izuku. "EXPLAIN THIS TO ME!"

Before Bakugo could take three steps, heavy, gray cloth wrapped around his torso and arms, snapping tight and yanking him backward.

"What the hell?! These cloths are super stiff!" Bakugo struggled, but he was completely immobilized.

"They're weapons designed for capture, woven from carbon fiber and a special metal alloy," Aizawa said, holding the other end of the scarf. His eyes were glowing red again, his hair standing up. "Stop using your Quirk. I'm getting dry eye over here."

Bakugo stopped struggling, glaring at Izuku with pure, unadulterated hatred.

Aizawa dropped his scarf, letting Bakugo go. "We're wasting time. Whoever's next, step up."

As Izuku walked back to the group, Uraraka ran up to him, looking incredibly worried. "Midoriya! Your arm! Are you okay? It looks awful!"

"I'm okay, Uraraka-san," Izuku gave her a tired smile, rubbing his shoulder. "Just... pushed the fusion a little too deep. It's a new technique. I'll need to refine it."

Iida approached, pushing his glasses up his nose. "A remarkable display of power and adaptability, Midoriya-kun! You took the teacher's criticism and instantly applied it to improve your technique! A true mark of a hero!"

Izuku thanked him, but his mind was elsewhere. He was calculating his remaining stamina. That took 20%. Plus the 8% from before. I'm at 28% drain. The migraine is starting. I have three tests left. I need to rely on my baseline physicals for the rest, or I'll pass out before the day is over.

The remaining three tests—the distance run, the sit-ups, and the seated toe-touch—were grueling for Izuku. Without the aid of his Armament Fusions, he was just a fit teenager competing against kids with natural mutations and superhuman endurance. Iida dominated the distance run. Bakugo and Kirishima excelled at the sit-ups. Ashido flexed her incredible flexibility in the toe-touch.

Izuku placed solidly in the middle of the pack for the final three exercises, his bruised arm hindering him slightly.

Finally, the sun began to dip lower in the sky, casting long shadows across the field.

Aizawa stood before the exhausted class, holding his digital tablet. "Time to present the results. The total is simply the marks you got from each test added together. Explaining it all is a waste of time, so I'll just show you the full ranking."

He pressed a button, and a holographic projection appeared in the air.

Izuku scanned the list from the bottom up.

20. Minoru Mineta.

19. Toru Hagakure.

He kept looking up. He skipped the top ten.

3. Katsuki Bakugo.

2. Shoto Todoroki.

There it was. At the very top.

1. Izuku Midoriya.

Izuku let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding. He had done it. His massive scores in the first five tests had heavily outweighed his average performance in the last three. He wasn't going to be expelled.

"By the way, I was lying about the expulsion," Aizawa said casually, putting his tablet away.

The class froze.

"It was a rational deception to draw out the upper limits of your Quirks," Aizawa smiled, a much more genuine, yet equally creepy smile.

"WHAT?!" half the class screamed in unison.

"Of course it was a lie," Yaoyorozu sighed, placing a hand on her hip. "If you just thought about it logically, it was obvious."

"I totally didn't notice," Kaminari groaned, slumping over.

"That was quite nerve-wracking, huh?" Kirishima laughed, patting Izuku on his unbruised shoulder. "But man, you were incredible! That railgun throw was so manly!"

Izuku smiled, though he felt a chill run down his spine. No, Yaoyorozu is wrong, Izuku thought, looking at Aizawa's retreating back. It wasn't a lie. If any of us had actually shown zero potential, he would have expelled us without a second thought. He just determined we all had enough potential to stay.

"With that, we're done here," Aizawa called over his shoulder. "There are handouts with the curriculum and such in the classroom. When you get back, look them over. Midoriya. Have the old lady in the nurse's office take a look at your arm. You're going to need it tomorrow."

Later that evening, the UA staff room was quiet. Most of the teachers had gone home for the day.

Shota Aizawa sat at his desk, a stack of student files in front of him. He held a cup of black coffee, staring blankly at the top file.

The name on the tab read: Midoriya Izuku.

Aizawa opened the file. Inside were pictures of Izuku's entrance exam, detailed reports of his Quirk's mechanics, and the data from today's apprehension test.

The door to the staff room creaked open, and Toshinori Yagi—in his deflated, skeletal form—stepped inside. He coughed quietly into his hand and walked over to Aizawa's desk.

"You didn't expel anyone today, Shota," Toshinori noted, a hint of amusement in his raspy voice. "That's quite rare for you. A whole class of potential?"

"They have promise," Aizawa replied dryly, not looking up from the file. "Some more than others."

Toshinori leaned over, looking at the file Aizawa was reading. "Ah. Young Midoriya. The boy with the fusion Quirk. He placed first, I presume?"

"He did." Aizawa took a sip of his coffee. "His Quirk is undeniably powerful. Categorically, it belongs in the highest echelon of combat abilities. He can adapt to any situation. Mobility, defense, ranged artillery, close-quarters augmentation. He is a Maestro of Monsters."

"You sound troubled, Shota. Is that not the exact versatility a top-tier hero needs?"

Aizawa closed the file, leaning back in his chair. "It is. But power is a double-edged sword. He's incredibly intelligent, calculating his stamina down to the percentile. He knows how to conserve energy."

"But?" Toshinori prompted.

"But his physical body is a massive liability," Aizawa stated bluntly. "I erased his Quirk right as he was about to summon. He froze. In that moment, he was just a quirkless kid standing on a battlefield. If I were a villain, I would have killed him right then and there."

Toshinori frowned slightly. "He adapted, didn't he? He used the fusion internally to throw the ball."

"Yes, and he nearly destroyed his own arm in the process," Aizawa sighed, rubbing his eyes. "He recognized his weakness the moment I pointed it out, and he was willing to sacrifice his own body to overcome it. It's an admirable trait for a hero... but a dangerous one."

Aizawa looked up at the skeletal symbol of peace. "If he relies solely on those summons, the moment someone bypasses them, he dies. He needs to learn how to fight. Hand-to-hand. No Quirks. No magic armor. Just blood and sweat. Because right now, he's a general commanding an invincible army from a glass throne. And the villains out there won't bother fighting his army. They'll just throw a rock at the glass."

Toshinori nodded slowly, understanding the gravity of Aizawa's words. "Will you teach him, then?"

Aizawa smirked, a dark, challenging expression crossing his tired face.

"I'm his homeroom teacher. It's my job to break his bad habits. Tomorrow is the Battle Trial. Let's see how the Maestro handles close-quarters combat against a rabid dog who wants nothing more than to tear him apart."

Aizawa tapped the file with his finger.

"Let's see if Izuku Midoriya can survive Katsuki Bakugo."

The morning after the Quirk Apprehension Test, Izuku woke up feeling as though he had been trampled by a stampede of rhinos. His right arm, heavily bandaged by Recovery Girl the previous afternoon, throbbed with a dull, rhythmic ache that pulsed in time with his heartbeat. The bruising had faded slightly thanks to her healing Quirk, turning from a violent, necrotic purple to a mottled, sickly yellow-green, but the muscle fibers beneath the skin still felt frayed and entirely overtaxed.

He sat up in bed, wincing as he stretched his shoulders. He looked down at his right hand.

Railgun Arm, he thought, tracing the faint discoloration along his bicep. Stamina drain of 20%, but the physical toll is localized entirely on the limb acting as the conduit. It’s too volatile. I forced conceptual physics—magnetic acceleration and extreme gravity—into a biological container. I'm lucky I didn't vaporize my own bones.

He clenched his fist. It held firm, but the stiffness was a stark reminder of Aizawa’s lesson. Izuku was a glass cannon. He had the firepower to level a city block, but the durability of a pane of window glass. If he was going to survive UA—if he was going to survive the villains that inevitably awaited him out in the real world—he needed to bridge the gap between his mind and his body. He couldn't just rely on his autonomous summons to fight his battles, and he couldn't afford to destroy his own limbs just to throw a punch.

He needed to perfect Armament Fusion.

After a hearty breakfast of rice, grilled fish, and miso soup—which his mother practically force-fed him, fussing over his bandaged arm—Izuku made his way to UA.

The morning classes passed by in a mundane blur. Present Mic’s English class was loud and aggressively upbeat, while Cementoss’s Modern Literature class was a soothing, if slightly dry, reprieve. Izuku took meticulous notes, his left hand compensating for his stiff right, though his mind constantly drifted back to his Quirk notebook tucked securely in his backpack.

Then came the afternoon.

Izuku was sitting at his desk, idly chatting with Uraraka and Iida, when the classroom door suddenly burst open with the force of a small hurricane.

"I AM..."

The booming, larger-than-life voice echoed down the corridor, rattling the glass in the windowpanes.

"...COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!"

All Might, in his Silver Age costume—a skin-tight marvel of red, white, blue, and gold—marched into the room. He struck a dramatic pose, his massive muscles flexing beneath the fabric, his signature, blindingly white smile practically illuminating the room.

The class erupted into cheers and gasps.

"It's All Might!" Kaminari yelled, leaping out of his seat.

"Wow, he really is a teacher!" Kirishima grinned, pumping his fist. "That costume is so retro, it's awesome!"

"His very presence exudes the aura of a top hero!" Iida adjusted his glasses, completely captivated.

Izuku felt his heart leap into his throat. He had idolized this man his entire life. Even though he hadn't grown up Quirless, even though his own Quirk was vastly different from All Might’s brute-force brawling style, the Symbol of Peace was the undisputed benchmark of what a hero should be.

All Might marched up to the podium, his hands resting on his hips. "Foundational Hero Studies! For this class, we'll be building up your hero foundation through various trials! You'll get the most units for this subject! Let's jump right in! Today's lesson is..."

He whipped out a small card from his pocket.

"BATTLE TRAINING!"

Bakugo, who had been slouching in his chair, suddenly sat bolt upright. A feral, bloodthirsty grin stretched across his face. "Battle..." he muttered, sparks igniting off his teeth.

"...Training!" Izuku finished silently, a cold sweat breaking out on the back of his neck.

"And to go with that!" All Might pointed to the wall. With a mechanical hum, massive panels slid out from the plaster, revealing rows of numbered, metallic briefcases. "Costumes! Made based on your Quirk registrations and the requests you sent in before school started! After you change, gather in Ground Beta!"

Ground Beta was a sprawling, faux-city landscape that dwarfed the arena from the entrance exam. It consisted of towering concrete apartment complexes, winding alleyways, and heavily shadowed industrial sectors. It was the perfect environment for a mock battle.

As the students filed out of the tunnel leading into the training ground, All Might stood waiting, his hands on his hips, surveying them with immense pride.

"They say the clothes make the man, young men and ladies! Be fully aware... from now on, you are heroes!" All Might boomed.

Izuku stepped out into the sunlight, adjusting the collar of his suit. He hadn't requested a flashy, brightly colored costume. Given the nature of his Quirk, he needed something tactical, durable, and highly conducive to energy channeling.

His hero costume was a sleek, dark forest-green tactical bodysuit made of a highly breathable, fire-retardant polymer. Gunmetal-gray armor plating protected his chest, shins, and forearms. Woven into the fabric of his sleeves and gloves were thin, conductive copper threads designed to help channel and stabilize the wild energy of his Base Summons before fusion. He wore a utility belt lined with small pouches containing basic first-aid, a combat knife, and a few smoke pellets. Finally, pulling the look together was a dark green cowl pulled over his head, leaving his face exposed but concealing his bright hair in low-light environments.

It wasn't flashy. It looked like the armor of a rogue or a combat mage.

"Oh, Midoriya! You look so cool! Very tactical!"

Izuku turned to see Uraraka jogging up to him. She was wearing a skin-tight pink and black suit with large, rounded bracers on her wrists and bulky boots. Izuku immediately flushed bright red, his eyes darting to the ground.

"U-Uraraka-san! Your costume is... um, very... it's very nice!" he stammered.

"I should have been more specific with my request form," Uraraka rubbed the back of her head, blushing slightly. "It's a bit skintight. But the boots have shock absorbers to help with the nausea from my Quirk, so it's functional!"

"Tch. Looks like a nerd trying to play soldier."

Izuku looked up. Katsuki Bakugo swaggered out of the tunnel. His costume was loud, aggressive, and entirely on-brand. A black, sleeveless tank top with an orange cross emblazoned on the chest, baggy black pants, and massive, terrifying gauntlets shaped like grenade pins resting on his forearms.

Bakugo locked eyes with Izuku. The air between them instantly chilled.

He’s looking for blood today, Izuku noted, his analytical mind kicking into gear. Those gauntlets... they aren't just for show. Given his Quirk, they likely store his nitroglycerin sweat to fire massive, localized blasts without destroying his own arms. It’s a terrifyingly smart design.

"Now then, it's time for combat training!" All Might announced, clapping his hands together.

Iida, looking like a massive, mechanized white knight, raised his hand. "Sensei! This appears to be the same arena used for the entrance exam! Will we once again be performing cityscape maneuvers against robotic adversaries?"

"No! We'll be moving ahead two steps!" All Might held up two fingers. "Most of the time, fighting villains takes place outside, but if you look at the total numbers, atrocious villains appear indoors at a much higher rate. Imprisonment, house arrest, backroom deals... In this society filled with Quirks, truly intelligent villains hide in the shadows!"

He pulled out a small script, clearly reading from it. "For this class, you'll be split into villains and heroes and fight 2-on-2 indoor battles! The villains have hidden a nuclear weapon somewhere in their hideout. The heroes must either apprehend the villains or secure the weapon within the time limit! The villains must protect the weapon or capture the heroes! We will choose teams by drawing lots!"

After a few minutes of drawing colored balls from a box, Izuku looked down at the letter in his hand. Team A.

"Hey, Midoriya! We're on the same team!" Uraraka cheered, holding up a matching 'A'.

"Awesome! We'll do great, Uraraka-san," Izuku smiled, feeling a wave of relief that he was paired with someone cooperative.

"I declare... the first teams to fight will be..." All Might plunged his hands into two separate boxes, drawing a black ball and a white ball.

"Team A will be the Heroes, and Team D will be the Villains!"

Izuku’s breath hitched. Team D.

He slowly turned his head. Across the crowd, Bakugo was holding a white 'D' ball. Standing next to him was Iida.

Bakugo’s head snapped toward Izuku. A savage, terrifyingly wide grin split his face, his crimson eyes gleaming with predatory anticipation. It wasn't the look of a student preparing for a test. It was the look of a tiger that had just found a wounded gazelle trapped in its cage.

It had to be him, Izuku thought, his heart beginning to hammer a frantic rhythm against his ribs. Of course it had to be him.

"Everyone else, head toward the monitor room!" All Might commanded. "Villain team, go in first and set up! In five minutes, the hero team will break in, and the battle will start!"

As the rest of the class filtered away, Izuku and Uraraka stood outside the massive, faux-concrete building that served as the villain hideout. Izuku was looking over a map of the building's layout, but his eyes were completely unfocused.

"Midoriya? Are you okay?" Uraraka asked gently. "You're sweating a lot. Is it because of Bakugo?"

Izuku blinked, snapping back to reality. "Ah. Yeah. Sorry. Kacchan... Bakugo and I have known each other since we were kids. He's always been incredibly strong. He’s confident, his combat instincts are unparalleled, and his Quirk is devastating."

He rolled the map up, gripping it tightly. "But more than that... he hates me. He hates my Quirk. He thinks I'm looking down on him because my fusions are flashy. And yesterday, Aizawa-sensei pointed out a massive flaw in my fighting style. Bakugo heard every word of it. He knows exactly how to beat me."

"How?" Uraraka asked, her brow furrowing.

"He’s going to ignore my summons," Izuku said, his voice grim. "He won't fight the monsters. He’ll use his explosive mobility to bypass them and attack me directly before I can fuse anything strong enough to stop him. He knows I have a casting delay. He’s going to exploit it."

Uraraka looked at the building, her expression hardening. "Then we need a plan. We can't let him do that. What if I use my Quirk to make you float so you can stay out of his reach?"

"No, indoors, lack of gravity makes me a sitting duck for his ranged blasts," Izuku shook his head. "Uraraka... I need you to find the bomb."

"What? By myself?"

Izuku met her eyes. "Bakugo isn't going to care about the bomb, and he isn't going to care about Iida's plan. The moment this trial starts, he is going to hunt me down. I'll act as the bait. I will draw him out and keep him occupied. While he's fighting me, you slip past him and find Iida. Iida will likely be guarding the weapon directly. You have a huge advantage against him."

"Because he relies on speed?"

"Because he takes this very seriously," Izuku smiled faintly. "He'll play the role of a villain perfectly. He’ll clear the room of anything you can use as a weapon. But your Quirk is contact-based. If you can touch him, you take away his traction. Without his feet on the ground, his engines are useless."

Uraraka nodded, determination flaring in her eyes. "Okay. I'll find the bomb. But Midoriya... please be careful. If he really comes at you with everything he has..."

"I'll be ready," Izuku lied. He didn't know if he was ready. But he didn't have a choice.

A loud siren blared across the cityscape, signaling the start of the match.

"Let's go," Izuku said, pulling his cowl up over his head.

They slipped through a ground-floor window, stepping into the dark, silent hallways of the building. The air was stale, smelling of dust and artificial concrete.

"I'll scout ahead," Izuku whispered. He held out his left hand.

Base Summon: Sonar Bat.

A tiny, translucent purple bat materialized in his palm. It didn't cost any real stamina. He released it, and the bat fluttered down the hallway, emitting high-frequency echolocation waves that fed directly into Izuku's mind.

"Clear," Izuku whispered, gesturing for Uraraka to follow.

They navigated the first floor, moving quietly. Izuku’s mind was racing, calculating casting times, stamina drains, and environmental hazards. The hallways were narrow. Large fusions were out of the question; a Storm Titan would bring the building down on their heads, and All Might would instantly fail him for property destruction. He needed small, agile, high-impact summons.

They reached a stairwell leading to the second floor.

Suddenly, the Sonar Bat in Izuku’s mind screamed.

A massive heat signature was rocketing around the corner of the stairwell, moving at terrifying speed.

"URARAKA, GET DOWN!" Izuku roared, shoving the girl backward.

BOOM!

The wall next to the stairwell completely exploded. A blinding flash of orange fire and searing heat blasted into the hallway, showering Izuku and Uraraka with chunks of drywall and plaster.

Izuku threw his arms up, coughing through the thick, acrid smoke of burnt nitroglycerin.

Through the dust, a shadow emerged. Red eyes burned through the gloom.

"Come here, Deku!" Bakugo snarled, launching himself out of the smoke. His right hand was pulled back, crackling with violent explosions, aimed directly at Izuku’s unprotected face.

He’s too fast! Izuku thought, his eyes widening. There was no time to pull a Base Summon. No time to clap.

Operating purely on the physical reflexes he had drilled over the last ten months, Izuku dropped low, ducking under the explosive right hook. He grabbed Bakugo’s extended arm, planted his foot, and used Bakugo’s own momentum to throw the explosive boy over his shoulder.

Bakugo slammed into the floor with a heavy thud, but he didn't stay down. He instantly fired an explosion from his free hand against the floor, propelling himself backward and flipping onto his feet like a rabid acrobat.

"Wow, you actually dodged!" Bakugo grinned, though his eyes were manic. "You read my moves! But you didn't use your magic tricks, Deku! What's wrong? Cat got your tongue? Or do you just know that your stupid monsters can't save you in a tight space?!"

Izuku stood up, settling into a defensive martial arts stance. "Uraraka, go! Now!"

Uraraka didn't hesitate. She knew her role. She scrambled past the debris, sprinting down the hallway toward the opposite stairwell.

Bakugo didn't even look at her. His tunnel vision was locked entirely onto the green-haired boy in front of him.

"Just you and me, huh?" Bakugo cracked his knuckles. "I'm gonna expose you right here, Deku. Aizawa was right. You're nothing but a fraud hiding behind a shield. I'm going to break the shield, and then I'm going to break you."

"I'm not hiding anymore, Kacchan," Izuku said, his voice steady, though his heart was pounding a frantic rhythm.

Bakugo lunged. He didn't run; he flew, using continuous, rapid-fire explosions from his palms to blast himself forward, zigzagging off the walls of the narrow corridor. He was entirely unpredictable, a chaotic missile of kinetic energy.

Base Summon: Frost Hound! Izuku held out his hand. A wolf made of icy mist materialized in front of him, lunging at Bakugo.

"Get out of my way!" Bakugo roared. He didn't even slow down. He simply blasted the Frost Hound point-blank in the face. The explosive heat instantly sublimated the ice construct, shattering it into harmless steam.

Bakugo burst through the steam, his palm aimed directly at Izuku’s chest.

Base Summon: Stone Wall! Izuku summoned a slab of granite between them.

Bakugo’s explosion hit the stone. The sheer concussive force shattered the granite into shrapnel. A large piece of rock clipped Izuku’s shoulder, tearing through his suit and drawing blood. Izuku stumbled backward, his back hitting the hallway wall.

"Too slow!" Bakugo laughed, landing in front of Izuku and throwing a vicious left hook.

Izuku barely brought his forearms up in time to block. The physical impact was bone-jarring, but it was the point-blank explosion that followed that did the real damage. The heat seared Izuku's forearms, knocking him off his feet. He rolled down the hallway, coughing violently.

He's not giving me a single second, Izuku thought, gritting his teeth as he pushed himself up. The moment I summon a base material, he destroys it. If I try to clap my hands for a fusion, he’ll blast my face off before my palms touch. Aizawa was right. My casting delay is a death sentence in close quarters.

"What's the matter, Deku?!" Bakugo stalked down the hallway, his palms smoking. "Summon the giant titan! Summon the lightning wolves! Do it! Let me shatter them!"

High above in the monitor room, the rest of Class 1-A watched in horrified silence.

"Bakugo is being relentless!" Kirishima gripped the edge of the console. "He's not even giving Midoriya time to breathe, let alone use his Quirk!"

"It's a perfect counter-strategy," Todoroki noted quietly, his heterochromatic eyes narrowed. "Midoriya's Quirk requires preparation and spatial distance. Bakugo is forcing a high-speed, close-quarters brawl. He's rendering Midoriya effectively Quirkless."

"Sensei, shouldn't you stop this?" Yaoyorozu asked, turning to All Might. "Bakugo's attacks are incredibly vicious. Midoriya is taking heavy damage."

All Might stood rigidly, his fists clenched tight. Young Midoriya... you knew this was coming. You knew your weakness. Show me how you overcome it.

Down in the hallway, Izuku wiped a trail of blood from his lip. He looked at Bakugo, analyzing the explosive teenager's stance. Bakugo was breathing heavily, a wild grin on his face.

He wants a brawl, Izuku realized. He wants to prove his physical superiority. If I keep trying to put things between us, he'll just keep breaking them. I can't play the Summoner right now. I have to play the Fighter.

Izuku let out a long, slow breath. He dropped his defensive stance. He let his arms hang loosely at his sides.

"Giving up?" Bakugo sneered. "Smart choice. Now lay down and die."

"I'm not giving up, Kacchan," Izuku said, his voice dropping an octave, losing its usual nervous tremor. "You want to fight me directly? Fine. Let's fight."

Izuku closed his eyes. He didn't project his energy outward. He kept it internalized, letting it pool in the center of his chest. He needed a fusion, but he couldn't afford the casting time of clapping his hands. He needed to use the same internal bypass technique he used for the Railgun Arm, but on a much larger scale, across his entire body.

Base Concept One: Shadow Ninja. Property: High agility, kinetic absorption, stealth.

Base Concept Two: Mirror Shield. Property: Total kinetic and energy reflection, absolute defense.

The strain of holding two opposing conceptual energies inside his own body without an external conduit was immense. Izuku felt his blood pressure spike. His muscles screamed in protest, threatening to tear themselves apart from the inside out.

"Don't ignore me!" Bakugo screamed, blasting himself forward, aiming a massive, two-handed explosion directly at Izuku’s torso.

Izuku’s eyes snapped open. They weren't green. They were a glowing, mercury-silver, swirling with pitch-black shadows.

He didn't clap his hands. He slammed his fists together, crossing his wrists over his chest in an 'X'.

"Armament Fusion..." Izuku roared, his voice echoing with an ethereal dual-tone.

"...REFLECTIVE SHINOBI!"

The hallway was instantly engulfed in a blinding flash of silver light and ink-black smoke.

Bakugo’s dual-handed explosion hit the epicenter of the light. But instead of the sickening sound of burning flesh and breaking bones, there was a resonant, metallic CHIIING, like a sword striking a flawless diamond.

Bakugo felt a terrifying, irresistible force push back against his hands. It wasn't just resistance; it was his own explosive power, magnified and violently reversed.

"What the—?!"

Bakugo was thrown backward through the air as if hit by a freight train. He crashed into the far wall, the concrete cracking under his weight. He slid to the floor, coughing up dust, his arms completely numb from the recycled recoil of his own attack.

As the smoke in the hallway cleared, the students in the monitor room gasped in collective awe.

Izuku Midoriya was no longer wearing a simple green tactical suit.

He was encased from head to toe in spectral, skin-tight armor. The plating looked as though it were forged from liquid mercury, polished to an absolute, mirror-like sheen that reflected the dim lights of the hallway perfectly. Yet, beneath the silver plating, swirling tendrils of pitch-black, shadow-like energy pulsed like living veins, giving the armor an ominous, lethal aura. A sleek, silver faceplate covered his mouth and nose, leaving only his glowing, silver eyes visible.

Stamina Drain: 35%. Mental Toll: Extreme. Duration limit before syncope: Four minutes.

Izuku uncrossed his arms. He felt light. Impossibly light. The shadow aspect of the fusion made him practically weightless, while the mirror aspect coated his body in a micro-thin layer of absolute kinetic reflection.

Bakugo pushed himself off the ground, his eyes wide with a mix of shock and fury. He stared at the silver armor.

"You think a shiny new suit is going to save you?!" Bakugo screamed, propelling himself forward again. He threw a right hook, aiming for Izuku’s head.

Izuku didn't duck. He didn't block.

He simply tilted his head. Bakugo’s fist grazed the silver helmet. The moment the kinetic energy of the punch made contact with the mirror armor, it was instantly reflected back at the source.

Bakugo’s arm jerked violently to the side, throwing his entire center of gravity off. His shoulder popped, a sharp spike of pain shooting down his spine.

Before Bakugo could recover his balance, Izuku moved.

To Bakugo, it looked as if Izuku simply teleported. The shadow-agility was too fast for the human eye to track in close quarters.

Izuku appeared directly in front of Bakugo, inside his guard. Izuku drove a devastating palm strike directly into the center of Bakugo’s chest. The physical force of Izuku’s punch, combined with the explosive kinetic energy Bakugo had just expelled, hit the blonde teenager like a cannonball.

Bakugo gagged, all the air violently expelled from his lungs. He was launched down the hallway, skidding across the floor until he hit the stairwell railing.

"Incredible!" Kirishima yelled in the monitor room, slamming his hands on the glass. "Midoriya is dominating him in close combat! He's using Bakugo's own momentum against him!"

All Might watched, utterly transfixed. Aizawa... you were right to push him. He didn't just find a workaround for his casting delay. He completely rewrote his combat style to perfectly counter his opponent.

Down in the building, Bakugo struggled to his feet. His chest felt bruised, his arms were shaking, and a thin trail of blood leaked from his forehead. But the physical pain was nothing compared to the absolute, soul-crushing humiliation he was feeling.

He was losing. In a straight fistfight, against Deku.

"Stop looking down on me!" Bakugo roared, his voice cracking with borderline hysteria. He raised his right arm, grabbing the massive, grenade-pin lever attached to his gauntlet.

Izuku froze. His silver eyes narrowed. The gauntlets. He's not going to... he wouldn't use that indoors.

"They designed these gauntlets to my exact specifications!" Bakugo laughed, a manic, desperate sound. "You know how my Quirk works, right, Deku? I sweat nitroglycerin. The more I sweat, the stronger the blast! These gauntlets have been storing up every drop of sweat since this trial started!"

"Young Bakugo, stop!" All Might’s voice boomed over the intercom system. "Are you trying to kill him?! If you fire that indoors, you'll bring the building down!"

"If he's got that shiny armor on, he won't die!" Bakugo screamed back, his finger looping through the pin.

Izuku’s mind went into hyper-drive.

Mirror Armor reflects kinetic force. It does NOT reflect ambient heat or fire. If he fires a localized blast of that magnitude, the armor will reflect the physical shockwave, but the sheer thermal energy of the nitroglycerin will bypass the armor and cook me alive inside my own suit. I have to drop the Armament Fusion. I need an external countermeasure. I need something that absorbs heat and nullifies fire.

"DIE!" Bakugo yanked the pin.

A click echoed through the hallway. Then, a roar like a dying dragon ripped through the air.

A massive, concentrated beam of blinding white fire and pure, destructive energy erupted from the gauntlet. It filled the entire hallway, melting the drywall instantly, incinerating the carpet, and rushing toward Izuku like a tidal wave of death.

"MIDORIYA!" Uraraka screamed through the earpiece.

Izuku didn't run. He couldn't. The blast was too wide.

He dropped the Armament Fusion. The silver armor shattered into nothingness, leaving him in his torn green suit.

Stamina Drain: 40%. Total Drain: 75%. Izuku’s nose began to bleed profusely. The migraine was blinding, a spike of pure agony driven straight through his frontal lobe. But he didn't care. He raised his hands, slamming them together with the force of a thunderclap.

Base Summon One: Void Slime. Property: Absolute energy absorption.

Base Summon Two: Water Dragon. Property: Massive liquid volume and propulsion.

The blast of fire was less than ten feet away. The heat was already singeing Izuku’s eyebrows.

"CHIMERA FORGE!" Izuku screamed, his vocal cords tearing.

...ABYSSAL GEYSER!

From Izuku’s fused hands, a colossal, amorphous entity erupted. It looked like a dragon made entirely of pitch-black, swirling water. It didn't attack Bakugo; it opened its massive jaws and swallowed the incoming blast of fire whole.

The Void Slime property within the water absorbed the kinetic energy of the explosion, stopping the shockwave dead in its tracks. But the thermal energy—the sheer, unadulterated heat of Bakugo’s ultimate attack—was trapped inside the Water Dragon’s body.

Physics took over.

When you trap thousands of degrees of heat inside thousands of gallons of water, you get a phase change.

"What...?" Bakugo gasped, his gauntlet smoking, watching his ultimate attack simply vanish into the black water.

The Abyssal Geyser swelled, turning from black to a glowing, violent crimson.

Izuku fell to his knees, clutching his head, blood pouring from his nose. "Counter... release!"

The dragon exploded.

It didn't release fire. It released a localized, hyper-pressurized shockwave of scalding steam.

The steam blast tore down the hallway with the force of a hurricane. Because it was steam, it wasn't lethal, but the concussive force and the suffocating, unbearable heat were overwhelming.

The steam slammed into Bakugo. He didn't even have time to scream. The sheer pressure blew him off his feet, launching him backward. He hit the concrete wall at the end of the corridor, his eyes rolling back into his head, completely unconscious before he slid to the floor.

The hallway was utterly decimated. The walls were scorched black, the floor was melted slag, and the air was thick with a fog of obscuring, heavy steam.

Izuku lay on his back, staring up at the cracked ceiling. His vision was swimming. His right arm was completely numb, his head felt like it had been split open with an axe, and his lungs burned with every breath.

Did... did I win?

Before he could pass out, a voice crackled through his earpiece.

"Midoriya! I found him! I secured the weapon!" Uraraka’s voice was triumphant, though she sounded exhausted. "I used the rubble from Bakugo's explosion to distract Iida and floated over him!"

All Might’s voice came over the intercom, heavy with awe and absolute relief.

"HERO TEAM... WINS!"

The tension that had been holding Izuku's fractured body together finally snapped. The darkness crept into the edges of his vision, soft and inviting. As he closed his eyes, he heard the heavy footsteps of All Might rushing down the hallway.

When Izuku opened his eyes, he was staring at a sterile, white ceiling. The smell of rubbing alcohol and clean linen filled his nose.

He was in the UA infirmary.

"Ah, the Maestro awakens," a dry voice noted.

Izuku slowly turned his head. Sitting in a chair beside his bed was Aizawa, sipping a juice pouch. Standing next to him, in his deflated, skeletal form, was Toshinori Yagi.

"Aizawa-sensei? All Might?" Izuku croaked, his throat feeling like sandpaper.

"Don't try to sit up, young Midoriya," Toshinori said gently, placing a hand on Izuku's shoulder. "Recovery Girl healed your external burns, but your stamina is completely depleted. You pushed your Quirk to its absolute limit today."

Izuku blinked, the memories of the fight flooding back. The explosions. The silver armor. The steam dragon. Bakugo falling.

"Kacchan... is he okay?" Izuku asked, panic spiking in his chest.

"He's fine," Aizawa said bluntly. "Mild concussion, first-degree burns from the steam, and a bruised ego the size of Tokyo. He woke up an hour ago. He's been staring at the wall ever since. You broke his pride, Midoriya."

Izuku looked down at his bandaged hands. He didn't feel victorious. He felt exhausted. "I didn't want to hurt him. I just... I had to survive. He wasn't going to stop."

"I know," Aizawa said softly, leaning forward. "You listened to what I said yesterday. You adapted. You recognized that your casting delay was a fatal flaw, and you developed a workaround that neutralized a hyper-aggressive close-quarters combatant. The Armament Fusion... it's a terrifying technique."

"It hurts," Izuku admitted quietly. "Holding the concepts inside my own body without an external construct feels like... like trying to hold a live grenade in my bare hands."

"Because your body isn't strong enough to act as the conduit yet," Toshinori said, a gleam of intense pride in his sunken eyes. "But it will be. You have the mind of a tactician, Midoriya, and the heart of a true hero. You didn't rely on brute force to beat young Bakugo's ultimate attack. You used physics. You used his own power against him. It was brilliant."

Izuku felt a blush rise to his cheeks. Praise from All Might was still something he couldn't quite process.

Aizawa stood up, tossing his empty juice pouch into the trash can. "Don't let it go to your head, kid. You're still fragile. If Bakugo had fired that blast a second earlier, your steam dragon wouldn't have formed in time. You need to train your physical body until it can withstand the internal pressure of your fusions without tearing your muscles apart."

Aizawa turned toward the door. "But... you did good today. Rest up. The real work begins tomorrow."

As Aizawa left, Toshinori pulled up a chair and sat down beside the bed. He looked at Izuku for a long, silent moment.

"You know, Midoriya," Toshinori said quietly, his voice lacking its usual theatrical boom. "I came to UA looking for something specific. I came looking for a successor. Someone who possessed the raw power to stand at the top, but also the intellect and the heart to use it wisely."

Izuku’s eyes widened. Successor? What is he talking about?

"I watched you today. I watched you put yourself between your teammate and danger. I watched you sacrifice your own well-being to ensure victory without causing lethal harm to your opponent," Toshinori smiled, a genuine, warm expression.

"You are a very interesting young man, Izuku Midoriya. Your Quirk is phenomenal, yes. But it is the boy commanding the Quirk that truly caught my attention. I look forward to seeing the hero you will become."

All Might stood up, ruffling Izuku’s green hair gently before walking out of the infirmary.

Izuku lay back against his pillows, staring at the ceiling. His body ached, his head throbbed, and he was mentally exhausted. But as he closed his eyes to finally rest, a small, undeniable smile tugged at the corners of his lips.

He had survived Bakugo's wrath. He had bridged the gap between his mind and his body. He was no longer just a boy playing with monsters.

He was the Maestro, and he had only just begun to conduct.

The sharp, rhythmic hum of the bus tires against the asphalt was the only sound cutting through the quiet chatter of Class 1-A. Outside the tinted windows, the dense urban sprawl of Musutafu was slowly giving way to the sprawling, isolated facilities owned by UA High School.

Izuku Midoriya sat near the middle of the bus, staring blankly at his right hand. The bandages were gone, replaced by a compression sleeve Recovery Girl had insisted he wear for the next few days. The internal bruising from his "Railgun Arm" maneuver during the apprehension test had completely healed, and his stamina had returned after a weekend of borderline-comatose sleep following his brutal fight with Bakugo.

Yet, the phantom ache remained—a psychological reminder of the razor-thin line he walked every time he forced a fusion.

He clenched and unclenched his fist, feeling the steady thrum of his pulse. He had won the battle trial. He had beaten Bakugo, relying on a strategy that capitalized on Aizawa's harsh critique. But Izuku wasn't satisfied. He knew that his Reflective Shinobi armor had a hard time limit, and his Abyssal Geyser release had nearly caused him to pass out from the sheer mental toll. He was powerful, yes, but his endurance was still a massive bottleneck.

"Midoriya, your Quirk is seriously something else," a voice called out, pulling Izuku from his internal calculations.

Izuku looked up to see Eijiro Kirishima leaning over the back of the seat in front of him, a wide, toothy grin on his face. Next to Kirishima sat Tsuyu Asui, her large, unblinking dark eyes fixed on Izuku.

"I mean, we saw you at the entrance exam with that giant lightning-earth guy, and then against Bakugo you pulled out a silver ninja suit and a literal dragon made of boiling water!" Kirishima punched his own hardened fist into his palm. "It’s super flashy, man! It’s like something out of a pro-hero comic book. My Hardening Quirk is strong against physical attacks, but it’s just not as visually impressive, you know?"

Izuku waved his hands frantically, his face flushing. "N-No, Kirishima-kun! Hardening is an incredible Quirk! It's perfectly suited for frontline combat and defense. You can take hits that would absolutely pulverize my Base Summons. If someone gets past my fusions, I'm practically defenseless without an Armament up."

"I say whatever comes to my mind, Midoriya," Tsuyu croaked softly, resting a finger against her chin. "Your Quirk is like a Swiss Army knife. You always have the exact right tool for the job. But I’m curious. Is there a limit? Can you just keep fusing things forever until you make something that can blow up the moon?"

The bus quieted down slightly. A few rows ahead, Katsuki Bakugo stiffened in his seat, though he didn't turn around. Ever since the battle trial, Bakugo had been completely silent. The manic, explosive rage had been replaced by a brooding, terrifyingly quiet intensity. He was listening, though. Everyone was listening. The "Maestro of Monsters" had become the central mystery of Class 1-A.

Izuku rubbed the back of his neck, considering how much to reveal. "Well... no, I definitely can't do it forever. It’s a resource management issue. Creating a Base Summon—like a single water sprite or a small earth golem—takes almost zero effort. I could probably summon a hundred of them and be fine. But fusing them... that’s where the toll comes in."

He pulled his notebook halfway out of his backpack, gesturing with it. "When I combine two summons, I'm forcing two different conceptual energies to merge. A standard two-way fusion drains anywhere from five to ten percent of my total stamina, depending on the complexity, and causes minor mental fatigue. If I hold it too long, I get a headache."

"And the giant guy from the entrance exam?" Mina Ashido piped up from across the aisle, leaning over her seat. "The one that chopped the Zero Pointer in half?"

"That was a Triple Fusion," Izuku said, his voice lowering slightly. "Three base components. Earth, Lightning, and Iron. Doing that drains a massive amount of energy all at once. It immediately triggers a severe migraine, my nose bleeds, and my blood pressure spikes dangerously high. I passed out right after I dismissed it. Recovery Girl warned me that if I use a Triple Fusion recklessly, I could suffer a cerebral hemorrhage."

The class went silent. Kirishima’s jaw dropped. "Dude. You're risking brain damage every time you go all out?"

"It's a necessary risk," Izuku said firmly, his green eyes hardening. "If it means saving someone, I'll take the migraine."

"Ribbit. That's very heroic, Midoriya," Tsuyu said. "But what about a four-way fusion? Have you ever tried combining four things?"

Izuku looked down at his lap. A cold chill ran down his spine as a memory from his childhood surfaced. He had been ten years old, sitting in his backyard, trying to see how far he could push his limits. He had summoned fire, water, earth, and wind, trying to create an elemental master.

He had barely forced his hands together before the world exploded in white light. He had woken up three days later in the intensive care unit, hooked up to an IV, with his mother crying uncontrollably over his chest. His heart had stopped for nearly a minute.

"I tried it once," Izuku whispered, the gravity of his words chilling the air on the bus. "It nearly killed me. The energy feedback completely short-circuited my nervous system. So... no four-way fusions. Three is my absolute, do-or-die limit. And even then, I try to stick to two."

"Man..." Kaminari shivered, rubbing his arms. "Your Quirk is overpowered, but the recoil is terrifying. I just get stupid when I use too much electricity. You actually put your life on the line."

"We’re arriving," Aizawa’s monotone voice cut through the chatter from the front of the bus. "Stop messing around and get your gear ready."

The bus pulled to a halt. As the doors hissed open, the students filed out into the bright afternoon sun. Before them stood a colossal, dome-shaped building made of glass and steel, glinting like a jewel in the isolated landscape. It looked like a massive, futuristic botanical garden.

Standing at the entrance, waiting for them, was a figure wearing a bulky, white spacesuit that completely obscured their features.

"Everyone, I have been waiting for you!"

"It's the Space Hero, Thirteen!" Uraraka squealed, vibrating with excitement. "The chivalrous Pro Hero who has rescued tons of people from disasters!"

"Let's go inside without delay," Thirteen said, gesturing toward the massive steel doors.

As they walked inside, the sheer scale of the facility took Izuku's breath away. The dome housed several massive, distinct biomes. To the north, a mountain range dotted with landslide zones. To the east, a sprawling, ruined cityscape engulfed in perpetual flames. To the south, a massive, artificial lake with a large ship resting in the center. To the west, a torrential downpour zone.

"A shipwreck, a landslide, a fire, a windstorm..." Thirteen listed, spreading their arms wide. "It is a training ground that I made with different types of accidents and disasters in mind. It's called the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, or USJ for short!"

USJ. Like the theme park, Izuku thought, his analytical mind already dissecting the terrain. Water zone for aquatic quirks. Fire zone for heat-resistance testing. This is brilliant. I can use the environment as free base material. If I summon a 'Water Sprite' in the Shipwreck Zone, the stamina cost will be halved because the conceptual element is already overwhelmingly present.

Aizawa walked up to Thirteen, whispering something quietly. Thirteen held up three fingers, shaking their head. Aizawa clicked his tongue in annoyance. All Might isn't here, Izuku realized, picking up on the subtle body language. He pushed himself too hard on his commute this morning.

Thirteen turned back to the students. "Before we begin, let me say one thing... or two, or three, or four..."

The students sweat-dropped.

"I'm sure you are aware that my Quirk is called Black Hole," Thirteen continued, their tone shifting from welcoming to deadly serious. "I can suck up anything and turn it into dust. However, it is a power that can easily kill people."

The class stiffened. Izuku felt a pang of recognition. He knew that feeling perfectly.

"Some of you have Quirks like that as well," Thirteen said, their visor sweeping over the students, lingering for a fraction of a second on Bakugo, and then on Izuku. "In our superhuman society, Quirks have been heavily restricted and regulated. It’s easy to forget that at their core, many Quirks are lethal weapons. A single wrong step, a single loss of control, and you can end a life."

Izuku looked down at his hands. A four-way fusion. If I ever lose control of one... it wouldn't just kill me. It would vaporize anyone standing near me.

"This class is a fresh start!" Thirteen proclaimed brightly, breaking the tension. "You shall learn how to use your Quirks to save people's lives! Your powers are not meant to inflict harm. They are meant to help! That is all. Thank you for listening."

The class erupted into polite applause.

"Alright, first things first," Aizawa sighed, stepping forward. "We'll split up into—"

Bzzt... whirrrr.

The lights lining the massive dome flickered. The mechanical hum of the central plaza's fountain suddenly sputtered, grinding to a halt. The water pressure died.

Izuku frowned, looking toward the center of the facility. A strange, localized drop in temperature sent a shiver down his spine.

Down in the central plaza, directly in front of the dormant fountain, a small speck of black mist appeared in the air. Within a second, the speck tore open, expanding into a massive, swirling vortex of deep violet and pitch-black smoke.

"Gather together and don't move!" Aizawa suddenly roared, his voice cracking like a whip. He wasn't slouching anymore. His posture was rigid, his hand already gripping the carbon-fiber capture weapon around his neck. "Thirteen, protect the students!"

Izuku took a step forward, straining his eyes. "Sensei, what's wrong? Is this like the entrance exam? Does the rescue training have fake villains?"

Through the swirling black mist, a hand reached out. It was shockingly pale, gripping the edge of the portal. Then, a man stepped through. He was incredibly lean, wearing dark clothes. But the most horrifying detail was the disembodied, grayish hands clutching his arms, his chest, and his face.

Behind him, massive, lumbering figures began to step out of the mist. Dozens of them. Armed with pipes, blades, and glowing Quirks.

"Don't move!" Aizawa yelled again, pulling his yellow goggles down over his eyes.

"Those are villains."

The word hung in the air, heavy and suffocating.

Villains? Izuku's mind raced, his heart hammering against his ribs. Real villains? Here? At UA? How did they get past the barrier? The sensors didn't go off. Is the mist guy the one doing this? Spatial Quirk. Warping.

"Thirteen! Start the evacuation! Try calling the school!" Aizawa commanded, taking a step toward the massive staircase leading down to the plaza. "These villains had something to do with the sensors. It's possible someone with radio-wave type powers is interfering. Kaminari, try contacting UA with your Quirk."

"Yes, sir!" Kaminari panicked, tapping the earpiece on his costume.

"Sensei, what about you?!" Izuku yelled, stepping out of the group. "Are you going to fight them all by yourself?! With that many, even if you erase their Quirks, Eraserhead's fighting style is capturing after erasing! A frontal battle is..."

"You can't be a Pro if you only have one trick," Aizawa said, looking back at Izuku. For a brief moment, the tired, grumpy teacher was replaced by a seasoned, lethal warrior. "I'll leave it to you, Thirteen."

With a powerful leap, Aizawa threw himself off the precipice, diving headfirst into the army of villains below.

Izuku watched in awe as his teacher landed in the center of the mob. Aizawa was a blur of motion, his capture scarf lashing out like a hydra, binding villains, smashing them together, and using their own numbers against them. His eyes glowed a furious red beneath his goggles, instantly shutting down any flashy Quirks before they could be fired.

"He's holding his own," Izuku muttered. "But he can't keep that up forever. There are too many."

"Midoriya! We have to go!" Iida grabbed Izuku's shoulder, pulling him toward the exit doors.

The class turned to run, but before they could take ten steps, the ground in front of the exit doors vanished.

A massive wall of the same violet-black mist erupted from the floor, blocking their path completely. The mist swirled, forming two glowing, sinister yellow eyes.

"I won't let you," a deep, refined voice echoed from the mist. "Nice to meet you. We are the League of Villains. It may be presumptuous of us, but we have invited ourselves into the home of the heroes, UA High School, in order to have All Might, the Symbol of Peace, take his last breath."

Izuku froze. To kill All Might? They brought an army to kill All Might?

"I believe All Might should have been here," the mist entity continued. "Has there been some kind of change? Well, that is neither here nor there. This is the part I am to play."

The mist surged forward, expanding rapidly to engulf the students.

"Get away!" Bakugo roared. He and Kirishima leaped forward, Bakugo firing a massive explosion directly into the center of the mist.

"Did you get him?!" Kirishima yelled.

"No! My physical attacks didn't hit anything!" Bakugo realized, falling back.

"That was close," the mist chuckled darkly. "Even if you are students, you are excellent golden eggs. Now, scatter... and suffer."

The mist billowed outward like a tidal wave. Izuku felt the cold, unnatural shadow wash over him. His feet lost contact with the floor. The world spun violently, colors blurring together into a sickening whirlpool of spatial distortion.

He was falling.

Izuku opened his eyes. The dim light of the USJ dome was gone, replaced by the glaring, artificial lights of the ceiling far above him. Beneath him wasn't the concrete floor of the entrance, but a massive, deep body of water.

The Shipwreck Zone! Izuku realized, twisting his body in mid-air.

SPLASH!

Izuku hit the water hard. The cold temperature shocked his system, but he quickly oriented himself, kicking his legs to swim toward the surface. He broke the water, gasping for air.

"Midoriya!"

Izuku turned his head. A massive, amphibious villain with webbed hands and a jaw full of razor-sharp teeth was rocketing toward him underwater, moving at torpedo speeds.

Before Izuku could summon a defense, a long, pink blur shot past his face. It was a tongue. It wrapped securely around Izuku's waist, yanking him violently out of the water and launching him through the air.

He landed with a hard thud on the rusted, metallic deck of the large ship moored in the center of the lake.

"Thanks, Asui-san," Izuku coughed, pushing himself up to his hands and knees.

"Call me Tsuyu," she corrected, landing gracefully on the railing of the ship. Under her left arm, she held Mineta, the shortest boy in their class, who was currently shivering and crying hysterically.

"What is happening?! Real villains?! They want to kill All Might?!" Mineta sobbed, throwing his sticky purple hair-balls onto the deck in a panic. "We're just kids! We're gonna die! I haven't even touched a girl's boobs yet!"

"Mineta, calm down," Izuku ordered, his voice sharp. He stood up, shaking the water from his green costume. The copper threading in his suit hummed slightly, unaffected by the water.

He walked over to the railing, looking down at the water.

The surface of the lake was boiling with activity. Fins, scales, and glowing eyes broke the surface. There were at least forty villains swimming in the water surrounding the ship. They were circling it like sharks, waiting for the students to fall back in.

"They're aquatic villains," Tsuyu noted, her frog-like features completely stoic. "They have the absolute advantage in this zone. We're trapped on this boat. And if we stay here, eventually the boat will sink."

Right on cue, a massive, jagged spike of ice shot out of the water, piercing the hull of the ship. The metal groaned in protest, and the boat listed slightly to the starboard side.

"See?! They're sinking the ship!" Mineta shrieked, pulling at his hair. "We're sitting ducks! What are we going to do, Midoriya?! Use your giant monsters! Blow them away!"

"No. Stop and think," Izuku said, closing his eyes for a second. His analytical mind was slicing through the panic, breaking the situation down into raw data points.

Point One: The villains used a warp quirk to scatter us.

Point Two: They sent Tsuyu, a frog mutant with incredible aquatic mobility, to a water zone.

Point Three: They sent me and Mineta here alongside her.

Izuku opened his eyes, a grim realization settling over him. "They don't know."

"Don't know what, ribbit?" Tsuyu asked.

"They don't know what our Quirks are," Izuku explained, pointing down at the water. "If they knew Tsuyu was an aquatic fighter, they would have sent her to the fire zone to dry her out. If they knew what I could do, they wouldn't have trapped me in an environment surrounded by my most accessible base element. They scattered us randomly, hoping our lack of experience would get us killed."

"So they're flying blind!" Mineta sniffled, a glimmer of hope returning to his eyes. "That means we have a chance!"

"It means we have an advantage," Izuku said, his voice dropping to a terrifyingly calm register. "But we are on a clock. Aizawa-sensei is fighting an army in the central plaza by himself. I don't know where Uraraka or Iida or Bakugo are. We can't afford to sit here and fight these guys one by one. I need to end this instantly."

"End this? There are forty of them!" Mineta yelled. "They're in the water! If you blast them, they'll just dive deep!"

"Mineta," Izuku said, turning to look at the short boy. Izuku's green eyes were cold, calculating, completely devoid of fear. "Grab onto the ship's mast. And do not let go."

Tsuyu looked at Izuku, seeing the raw, humming energy beginning to bleed from his pores. "What are you going to do, Midoriya?"

"I'm going to drain the lake," Izuku stated.

Izuku walked to the very edge of the ship's bow, looking down at the villains below. They were laughing, jeering at the students, confident in their overwhelming numbers and territorial advantage.

They think they're the apex predators of this zone, Izuku thought. Let's show them what a real monster looks like.

Izuku extended his right arm over the water.

Base Summon One: Water Serpent.

He didn't draw the energy from his own stamina reserves. He didn't need to. He reached out with his Quirk, tapping directly into the millions of gallons of water in the USJ lake. The water directly beneath his hand began to swirl and rise, defying gravity. A massive, forty-foot serpent composed entirely of hyper-compressed, churning water formed in the air, its eyes glowing with a terrifying, pale blue light.

The villains in the water stopped laughing. They stared up at the towering serpent, realizing instantly that the green-haired kid on the boat was not helpless.

Izuku extended his left arm.

Base Summon Two: Whirlpool Spirit.

He drew on the ambient kinetic energy of the water currents. A violent, shrieking vortex of wind and water materialized, spinning with the force of an F5 tornado.

"Mineta. Tsuyu. Hold on," Izuku ordered.

He didn't hesitate. He didn't flinch.

Izuku slammed his hands together.

The CLAP echoed across the entire USJ, a concussive shockwave that rippled the surface of every zone.

"CHIMERA FORGE!" Izuku roared, his voice amplified by the sheer volume of water he was manipulating.

The forty-foot Water Serpent and the shrieking Whirlpool Spirit collided in mid-air directly in front of the ship. The resulting fusion didn't just flash with light; it warped the very air around it, creating a localized vacuum that sucked the breath from the villains' lungs.

From the epicenter of the fusion, a creature of absolute mythological terror was born.

"ABYSSAL LEVIATHAN!"

It was massive. Easily a hundred feet long. Its body was composed of midnight-blue, highly pressurized water, armored in jagged scales of solid ice. It had four massive fins that acted like hydro-turbines, and a jaw that could easily swallow the entire shipwreck whole. It didn't roar. It emitted a deep, subsonic hum that vibrated the marrow in the bones of everyone present.

Stamina Drain: 15% (Mitigated by environmental abundance). Control Toll: Heavy.

Izuku stood on the bow of the ship, his arms outstretched, acting as the conductor for the beast.

"Dive," Izuku commanded.

The Abyssal Leviathan didn't attack the villains. It simply pointed its massive head downward and plunged straight into the center of the lake.

The moment the Leviathan hit the water, the physics of the entire zone shattered.

The Leviathan's body acted as a super-massive gravitational core for the liquid around it. It began to spin, swimming in a tight, rapid circle at the very bottom of the artificial lake.

"What... what is happening?!" one of the villains screamed, trying to swim toward the surface.

He couldn't.

A whirlpool of unprecedented, cataclysmic proportions formed instantly. The entire volume of the lake was sucked into a massive, swirling vortex. The shipwreck, caught in the dead center (the eye of the storm), remained perfectly stable, suspended above the drain.

But the villains were not so lucky.

"HELP!"

"I CAN'T SWIM OUT OF IT!"

"THE PRESSURE!"

Dozens of villains were caught in the massive, churning walls of the whirlpool. They were spun around at terrifying speeds, completely helpless against the sheer kinetic force of the water. The Leviathan didn't need to bite them; it simply pinned them to the floor of the lake using the weight of the water itself.

Mineta was clinging to the mast, his eyes bugging out of his skull. "HE'S A MONSTER! MIDORIYA IS A FREAKING MONSTER!"

Tsuyu was holding onto a rope, her hair whipping violently in the gale-force winds generated by the whirlpool. She stared at Izuku's back. The boy wasn't looking at the villains. His face was a mask of absolute concentration, veins bulging on his forehead as he maintained control over the Leviathan, ensuring the vortex didn't crush the villains to death, only incapacitated them.

He's controlling a natural disaster with pinpoint precision, Tsuyu thought, awe replacing her usual stoicism. He's incredible.

In less than thirty seconds, the fight was over.

The villains were all pinned securely to the concrete floor of the drained lake, unconscious from the extreme centrifugal force and oxygen deprivation, though none of them were lethally injured.

Izuku let out a ragged breath. The migraine hit him like a hammer blow to the temples. His nose dripped a single drop of crimson blood onto the rusted deck.

He unclasped his hands.

The Abyssal Leviathan dissolved into harmless sea-foam. The water, no longer bound by the vortex, crashed back down into the basin, instantly refilling the lake and floating the villains' unconscious bodies to the surface.

The Shipwreck Zone was completely silent, save for the gentle lapping of the waves against the hull.

"He did it," Mineta whispered, sliding down the mast to the deck, his legs completely giving out. "He actually defeated all of them in one move. We're saved."

Izuku wiped his nose, turning away from the water. He should have felt relieved. He had neutralized an entire platoon of villains without breaking a sweat, physically speaking.

But as the roaring of the water faded, a new sound reached Izuku's ears.

It was faint, carrying over the vast expanse of the USJ from the central plaza.

CRACK.

It sounded like a dry tree branch snapping under immense weight.

Izuku whipped his head toward the central plaza. His heart, which had just begun to calm down, spiked with a sudden, icy terror.

He ran to the stern of the ship, squinting through the distance.

Down in the plaza, the army of minor villains had been severely thinned out. But Aizawa wasn't winning anymore.

Aizawa was on the ground. Standing over him was a creature that defied all logic. It was massive, heavily muscled, with skin the color of a bruised plum. Its brain was completely exposed, protruding from the top of its skull, and it had the dead, soulless eyes of a bird.

The creature was holding Aizawa's arm.

With a sickening, wet crunch, the monster snapped Aizawa's forearm in half like a twig.

Even from this distance, Izuku could see Aizawa’s mouth open in a silent scream of agony. The teacher tried to look up, his eyes glowing red to erase the monster's Quirk.

But the monster didn't stop. It slammed its massive fist down onto Aizawa's face, driving the Pro Hero's head into the concrete, shattering the ground beneath him.

"Sensei..." Izuku whispered, his blood turning to ice.

Standing a few feet away from the carnage was the man covered in hands. He was scratching his neck violently, laughing a dry, raspy laugh that sent shivers down Izuku's spine.

"You're so cool, Eraserhead," the man with hands mocked. "But you're just a man. And this is the Nomu. The anti-Symbol of Peace bio-engineered to kill All Might."

Izuku’s mind blanked. Anti-Symbol of Peace. Bio-engineered.

That monster wasn't a normal villain. It was a weapon of mass destruction. And Aizawa was currently being beaten to death by it.

"Midoriya? What is it?" Tsuyu walked up behind him, following his gaze. When she saw Aizawa lying in a pool of his own blood, she gasped, covering her mouth. "Mr. Aizawa..."

"Mineta. Tsuyu," Izuku said. His voice was completely devoid of its usual warmth. It was hollow. Detached.

"Stay on the boat. Do not come to the plaza."

"Wait, Midoriya, what are you doing?!" Mineta screamed, scrambling to his feet. "You can't go over there! You saw what that thing just did to Aizawa! It'll kill you!"

Izuku didn't answer. He looked down at his hands. The 15% stamina drain from the Leviathan was manageable. He still had 85% of his energy left. He had enough for a fight. He had to have enough.

If I don't go, he dies. If he dies, they move on to the rest of the class.

Izuku jumped up onto the railing of the ship.

Base Summon: Wind Sprite.

He formed a small vortex of air beneath his boots.

With a powerful thrust of his legs, aided by the burst of compressed air, Izuku launched himself off the shipwreck, soaring over the water and landing gracefully on the paved pathway leading toward the central plaza.

He broke into a dead sprint.

"MIDORIYA!" Tsuyu yelled after him.

Izuku didn't look back. The air burned in his lungs. The migraine pulsed in time with his rapid footsteps.

As he closed the distance to the central plaza, the true horror of the situation became clear. The Nomu was standing over Aizawa's broken body, raising its fist for a final, lethal strike. The man with hands—Shigaraki, the mist had called him—was smiling beneath the severed hand on his face.

I won't make it in time, Izuku realized, his eyes widening. I'm too far away.

He couldn't reach Aizawa physically. He needed a ranged attack. Something fast. Something lethal.

Izuku didn't stop running. He extended his arms as he sprinted.

Base Summon One: Flame Hound.

A wolf of pure, roaring fire materialized to his right, keeping pace with him.

Base Summon Two: Iron Javelin.

A massive, heavy metallic spear formed in his left hand.

Izuku brought them together, leaping into the air to close the final distance.

Clap.

"CHIMERA FORGE!" Izuku roared, his voice echoing across the plaza, drawing the attention of Shigaraki and the Nomu.

"METEOR STRIKE!"

The iron javelin ignited with the heat of a dying star, glowing white-hot. Izuku twisted his body in mid-air, using his momentum to hurl the superheated, armor-piercing spear directly at the Nomu's exposed brain.

The spear broke the sound barrier. It was a perfect shot. It hit the Nomu squarely in the center of its exposed brain.

BOOM!

A localized explosion of fire and shrapnel engulfed the monster's head.

Izuku landed hard on the concrete of the plaza, sliding to a halt just a few yards away from Aizawa's unconscious body. He dropped into a defensive stance, panting heavily.

Direct hit, Izuku thought. That spear pierced the Zero Pointer's armor like butter. A biological target shouldn't be able to survive...

The smoke from the explosion cleared.

Izuku's breath caught in his throat.

The Nomu was still standing. The spear had indeed pierced its brain, leaving a massive, gaping hole. But as Izuku watched in utter horror, the muscle tissue and brain matter began to writhe and bubble. Within two seconds, the wound completely closed itself, leaving the monster entirely uninjured.

"Super Regeneration," Shigaraki rasped, letting out a dry, clicking laugh. "And Shock Absorption. That was a nice parlor trick, kid. But you just threw a toothpick at a tank."

The Nomu slowly turned its head, its dead, bird-like eyes locking onto Izuku.

Izuku stood his ground, though his hands began to tremble. His strongest ranged attack had done absolutely nothing.

Shigaraki pointed a long, pale finger at Izuku.

"Nomu. Kill the kid."

The monster let out a terrifying, ear-piercing screech and vanished from its spot, moving with speeds that rivaled All Might himself.

Izuku swallowed hard, the deck of infinite possibilities flashing through his mind.

I have to go past the limit.
