What If Deku Had an Overpowered Pteranodon Quirk for Aerial Combat

The sharp, sterile scent of rubbing alcohol usually brought a sense of quiet anxiety to four-year-old Izuku Midoriya. Sitting on the crinkling paper of the examination table, his short legs swung back and forth, hitting the metal cabinet below with a rhythmic thump, thump, thump. Beside him, his mother, Inko, twisted a handkerchief into knots.

They were here for a Quirk assessment. All of Izuku’s classmates at preschool had already manifested theirs. Katsuki Bakugo, his best friend, was practically a walking firecracker, popping tiny, sweet-smelling explosions from his palms. But Izuku? Izuku had nothing. Just an endless, burning desire to be like All Might, the Symbol of Peace.

Dr. Garaki, a bald man with thick, opaque goggles, flipped through a chart. "Well, Mrs. Midoriya, I have some interesting news. I've analyzed his X-rays."

Inko leaned forward, her voice trembling. "Does he... is there a problem with his pinky toe joint?"

"Quite the opposite," the doctor said, rubbing his chin. "His pinky toe has only one joint, which indicates he will develop a Quirk. In fact, he should have manifested by now. However, looking at his skeletal structure... something highly unusual is happening. His bones are undergoing a micro-cellular shift. They are becoming less dense. Porous. Hollow, almost."

"Hollow?" Inko gasped, pulling Izuku closer. "Is he sick? Does he have a bone disease?"

"No, no," Dr. Garaki muttered, staring at the boy with sudden, intense fascination. "It's an adaptation. A mutation. Humans have dense bones to support walking upright. Hollow bones are an evolutionary trait meant to reduce weight for one specific purpose."

Izuku tilted his head, his large green eyes unblinking. His back had been itching for a week. A deep, agonizing itch that nestled right beneath his shoulder blades and traveled down his arms.

"Purpose?" Inko asked.

"Flight," the doctor whispered.

Before Inko could process the word, Izuku let out a sudden, sharp gasp. The itch turned into a white-hot flare of energy. His small body seized.

"Izuku!" Inko screamed, reaching for him.

"Stay back!" the doctor ordered.

Izuku squeezed his eyes shut as a sensation like rushing water flooded his ears. The air in the small, cramped clinic suddenly felt suffocating. He needed air. He needed the sky. A high-pitched, guttural sound tore from his throat—not the cry of a human child, but the piercing, primal shriek of an apex predator.

CRACK.

Izuku’s arms twisted. The sleeves of his All Might t-shirt ripped to shreds as his forearms elongated at a horrifying, fascinating speed. His skin shifted, erupting into a thick, leathery hide the color of storm clouds. But it didn't stop there. From his back and running along the length of his newly extended, monstrous arms, vast membranes of ultra-dense, leathery webbing unfurled.

He didn't just grow wings. He became the wings.

His jaw extended slightly, his teeth sharpening, his vision snapping into a terrifying, crystalline focus. He could see the individual dust motes floating in the room. He could see the microscopic sweat beads on the doctor's forehead.

Panicking from the sudden sensory overload and the confined space, four-year-old Izuku did what came naturally. He flapped his arms.

It was a single, panicked downstroke.

The resulting concussive blast of wind was akin to a detonating bomb. The shockwave blew Dr. Garaki off his feet, sending him crashing into a filing cabinet. The metal examination table buckled. And the heavy, reinforced glass window of the clinic blew outward, shattering into a million pieces and raining down onto the street below.

The wind pressure generated by a single flap had created a localized hurricane in the ten-by-ten room.

Izuku hovered for a split second, suspended in the air by the sheer force of his own downdraft, his shadow swallowing the room. His wingspan, even at four years old, was a staggering eight feet from tip to tip. The leading edges of his wings ended in three jagged, diamond-hard talons.

He slowly drifted to the floor, his monstrous arms shrinking, the leathery membrane retreating into his skin, until he was just a four-year-old boy again, standing in the center of a destroyed clinic, crying and holding his mother.

"Well," Dr. Garaki wheezed from the floor, a manic grin spreading across his face. "That settles it. Mutant-Transformation hybrid. And a ridiculously powerful one at that."

That was the day the world realized Izuku Midoriya was not meant to walk among men. He was meant to rule the skies above them.

Ten years later, the hierarchy of Aldera Junior High was a rigid, unyielding thing. In most schools, the strong preyed on the weak. In Aldera, there were only two kings, and they sat at the absolute apex of the food chain.

Katsuki Bakugo and Izuku Midoriya.

In another universe, Izuku might have been a meek, stuttering boy, subjected to the cruel whims of a superiority-complex-driven Bakugo. But Quirks shape personality. They shape how the world perceives you. And no one, not even Bakugo Katsuki, looked down on the boy who could shatter concrete with a single flap of his wings.

Their dynamic wasn't that of a bully and a victim. It was the tense, explosive rivalry of two apex predators sharing a territory that was far too small for both of them.

"Hey, Deku!" Bakugo’s voice cracked like a whip across the classroom as the final bell rang. The rest of the students immediately scattered, knowing better than to get caught in the crossfire.

Izuku, sitting by the window—he always sat by the open window—didn't flinch. At fourteen, he was lean, practically made of wire and whipcord. His hollow bone structure made him incredibly light for his height, but his musculature, specifically in his core, legs, and back, was terrifyingly dense to support the G-forces of flight. His hair was still a wild mop of green, but his eyes were different. They were hawk-like, intense, gold-flecked green irises that tracked movement with unsettling speed.

Izuku slowly turned his head. His neck cracked. "What is it, Kacchan?"

Bakugo stomped over, slamming his hands on Izuku’s desk, smoke wafting from his palms. "Don't give me that bored look, you oversized pigeon. You're applying to U.A., aren't you?"

"Obviously," Izuku said smoothly. He picked up his notebook—Hero Analysis for the Future No. 13—and slipped it into his yellow backpack. "They have the best flight simulators and open-air training grounds in the country. Where else would I go?"

"You think you're better than me because you can make a little breeze?" Bakugo snarled, sparks popping between his fingers. "I'm going to be the only one from this crappy middle school to get into U.A. I'm going to be Number One. I'll rip your wings off before I let you stand in my way."

Izuku stood up. Despite his lightweight frame, he had an inch on Bakugo. As he rose, he intentionally let his Quirk activate just a fraction. It was a defense mechanism he had honed over the years. The skin on his forearms hardened into gray, scaly hide. A sharp, aerodynamic blade of bone and compressed cartilage protruded slightly from his elbow, slicing through the fabric of his uniform. The air pressure in the room suddenly dropped, making everyone’s ears pop.

"You can try, Kacchan," Izuku said, his voice dropping into a low, resonant timber. "But you have to catch me first. And last I checked, explosions have a range. I have the entire atmosphere."

Bakugo’s grin turned feral. "Oh, I'll catch you, Deku. I'll blow you out of the damn sky."

Izuku let his arm return to normal, the tension in the room instantly dissipating. He offered a polite, close-lipped smile—a stark contrast to the monstrous aura he had just projected. "I look forward to the entrance exam. Don't fall behind."

With a fluid, graceful leap that seemed to defy gravity, Izuku vaulted onto the windowsill. Instead of climbing down the stairs like a normal student, he simply stepped out of the third-story window.

Several first-year students gasped, rushing to the glass.

They looked down just in time to see Izuku drop twenty feet. A heartbeat before he hit the pavement, there was a deafening CRACK that sounded like thunder. A massive gale force shattered the dirt courtyard, kicking up a cloud of dust. From the center of the dust cloud, a massive, shadowy figure shot upward at a blistering speed, soaring over the school gates and disappearing into the clouds before anyone could blink.

Bakugo stared out the window, his red eyes narrowed, small explosions popping involuntarily from his palms. "Stupid, show-off bird."

For Izuku, flight was not just a method of transportation; it was a state of being.

Ten thousand feet above Musutafu, the air was freezing, thin, and deadly to a normal human. To Izuku, it was home.

He was in his full transformation. It wasn't the beautiful, feathered wings of the current Number Three Pro Hero, Hawks. Izuku’s Quirk, officially registered as Storm Pterosaur, was distinctly prehistoric. When fully transformed, his arms became massive, leathery wings with a terrifying twenty-foot wingspan. His skin hardened into a micro-scaled, ultra-durable hide. His legs ended in three thick, scaly toes tipped with curved, diamond-hard talons meant for rending steel and crushing bone. His jaw elongated slightly, hardening into a beak-like structure, though he maintained his human mouth and speech.

He was a terrifying blend of boy and monster.

He coasted on a thermal updraft, his golden-green eyes scanning the city below. From this height, humans were microscopic, but his kinetic vision allowed him to track the erratic movement of a single sports car weaving through traffic three miles away.

Speed, Izuku thought, tucking his wings slightly to increase his velocity. That's my main advantage. Hawks uses his feathers for multi-tasking and precision. I don't have that. My wings are attached to my arms. I can't rescue twenty people at once like him. My Quirk is built for one thing: overwhelming, catastrophic momentum.

Over the past ten months, while other U.A. hopefuls were hitting the gym or studying, Izuku had been studying aerodynamics, meteorology, and physics. He understood terminal velocity, drag coefficients, and wind shear better than most college professors.

He didn't just fly; he manipulated the air. His Quirk allowed him to consciously control the wind pressure generated by his wings. By vibrating the microscopic scales on his leathery membranes, he could create localized vacuums, allowing him to slice through the air with zero friction. He could generate hurricane-force winds with a single flap or compress the air into sharp, invisible blades.

He tilted his body forward and went into a dive.

Target: Dagobah Municipal Beach Park.

The beach was a notorious illegal dumping ground, piled high with refrigerators, cars, and industrial waste. For the last ten months, Izuku had been using it as his personal bombing range and training ground, cleaning the beach not by lifting the trash, but by destroying it and hauling the scraps away.

Wind roared past his ears. The altimeter in his head calculated his drop.

8,000 feet.

5,000 feet.

2,000 feet.

He was a missile, dropping at over two hundred miles per hour. The rusted mountain of trash at the center of the beach rushed up to meet him.

At five hundred feet, Izuku flared his massive wings. The sudden deceleration would have snapped the spine of a normal human, but Izuku’s hollow, reinforced skeleton absorbed the G-force perfectly.

"Wind Tunnel Cannon!" Izuku shouted.

He thrust both wings forward in a clapping motion. He didn't just push air; he compressed it, forcing thousands of pounds of atmospheric pressure into a single, focused column.

The invisible battering ram of wind struck a pile of four crushed pickup trucks.

BOOM.

The trucks didn't just move; they folded in on themselves, the metal shrieking as they were blasted backward across the sand, tumbling into the ocean with massive splashes. The sheer concussive force of the wind blade gouged a trench into the beach three feet deep and twenty feet wide.

Izuku landed gracefully on the sand, his heavy talons sinking in. He let out a long breath, a cloud of steam escaping his mouth. He focused, and the massive, leathery wings began to recede, the bones shifting, the hide melting back into pale human skin, until his normal arms returned.

He cracked his knuckles, pulling out a battered notebook from a waterproof pouch on his waist. He jotted down a few notes.

Air compression was 12% more efficient today. Need to work on the follow-through. Mirko’s fighting style focuses on leg strength and momentum transfer. If I combine her drop-kick mechanics with a Mach-speed dive, the kinetic energy yield should be enough to shatter three feet of reinforced concrete without injuring my legs.

He looked up at the horizon. The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the now completely spotless beach. Ten months of dropping out of the sky, hauling scrap metal in his talons, and blasting away mountains of trash had completely revitalized the coastline.

Tomorrow was the U.A. Entrance Exam.

Izuku closed his notebook. He felt a rare smirk tug at the corner of his mouth. I'm ready.

The morning of the exam, the air in the Midoriya household was thick with tension and the smell of fried fish.

"Izuku, do you have your pencils? Your eraser? Your registration card?" Inko asked, frantically pacing the kitchen.

"Yes, Mom," Izuku said, calmly finishing his breakfast. He ate an enormous amount of food—mostly lean proteins and high-calorie fats. His Quirk burned energy at a staggering rate. To generate the muscle output required for flight, his metabolism was roughly four times that of a normal teenager.

"What about your jacket? Do you want me to alter it? If you transform, you'll rip right through it again!"

"It's fine, Mom. I wear the sleeveless compression shirts underneath for a reason. And the school uniform jacket has breakaway seams." He stood up, towering over his mother, and wrapped his arms around her. "I'll be fine. I promise."

Inko hugged him tightly, tears welling in her eyes. She remembered the terrified four-year-old in the clinic. Now, looking at her son, she saw a young man who carried himself with absolute certainty. "I know you will, sweetie. Go show them what you can do."

The walk to U.A. High School was a blur of nervous energy. The sheer size of the H-shaped building looming over the city was awe-inspiring. Hundreds of teenagers were swarming the massive front gates, all of them sporting different mutations, confident smiles, and nervous jitters.

Izuku walked with his hands in his pockets, his posture perfectly straight. His enhanced senses picked up fragments of conversation, the erratic heartbeats of nervous applicants, and the smell of ozone.

"Get out of my way, Deku."

Izuku didn't turn around. He simply stepped slightly to the right, allowing Bakugo to storm past him.

"Good morning to you too, Kacchan," Izuku said easily.

Bakugo shot him a glare over his shoulder, his teeth bared. "Don't think you're hot shit just because you cleaned up a beach. I'm going to get a perfect score. I'll make you look like a plucked chicken."

"We'll see," Izuku replied, his tone infuriatingly level.

Bakugo stomped off toward the entrance. Izuku shook his head and took a step forward, only to hear a sudden, sharp gasp behind him.

He turned, his kinetic vision snapping into focus. A girl with a brown bob and a round face had tripped over her own feet. She was falling forward, her face destined to smash into the concrete pavement.

In a fraction of a second, Izuku’s instincts took over. He didn't have time to fully transform, nor did he need to.

He pivoted, his right arm blurring as it underwent a partial transformation. The skin hardened into gray hide, and a thick, leathery membrane erupted from his wrist to his shoulder, creating a dense, feathered-leathery shield. He swept his arm under the girl, catching her softly in the cradle of his wing, absorbing her momentum instantly.

The girl blinked, suspended an inch above the concrete, wrapped in what felt like a thick, warm, leather parachute.

Izuku gently lifted her back to her feet, his arm shifting rapidly back to normal human flesh before anyone could truly comprehend what they had seen.

"Careful," Izuku said gently. "Tripping before the exam even starts is bad luck."

The girl stared at him, her cheeks instantly flushing pink. She looked from his face down to his now perfectly normal arm. "Whoa... what was that? Your arm just... whoosh!"

Izuku chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "Transformation Quirk. Sorry if I startled you. I'm Izuku Midoriya."

"Ochaco Uraraka!" she said, bowing quickly. "Thank you so much! I was so nervous I wasn't even watching where I was going. Your Quirk is so cool! It felt so strong!"

Izuku felt a rare blush creeping up his neck. He was used to people calling his Quirk terrifying or monstrous. Cool was a nice change. "Thanks. Good luck on the exam, Uraraka."

"You too, Midoriya!"

The auditorium was massive, packed with thousands of hopeful applicants. Pro Hero Present Mic stood on the stage, his voice booming through the speakers as he explained the practical exam.

Ten minutes to rack up points by destroying three different types of "Villain" robots. There was also a Zero-Pointer, an obstacle to be avoided.

Izuku sat in his assigned seat, furiously taking notes. Urban warfare simulation. Cramped streets, tall buildings. That's a disadvantage for my full wingspan. I won't be able to turn on a dime in an alleyway. I'll have to utilize vertical momentum. Fly above the rooftops, use dive-bomb tactics, and stick to the main thoroughfares.

"Are you going to mutate out of your clothes right here, or can you stop muttering?" Bakugo hissed from the seat next to him.

Izuku clamped his mouth shut, realizing he had been mumbling his strategy aloud. He smiled thinly at Bakugo. "Just planning my flight path, Kacchan."

Shortly after, the applicants were bused to their respective Battle Centers. Izuku stood before the massive, towering gates of Battle Center B. The fake city behind the walls was staggering in scale. It looked like a genuine slice of Tokyo, complete with skyscrapers, intersections, and alleyways.

He stretched his neck, rolling his shoulders. He stripped off his school jacket, tossing it into a nearby bin. He wore a black, sleeveless, high-compression shirt designed by a specialty support company online. It was meant to stretch and expose his shoulder blades and back without tearing.

Around him, other applicants were doing stretches, looking at him curiously.

"Look at that guy," a boy with spiky red hair muttered to his friend. "He looks pretty calm."

"Maybe he has a strength Quirk?"

High above, in the observation deck, the U.A. faculty watched the screens.

"Ah, the Midoriya boy," Nezu, the principal, hummed, sipping his tea. "I've been looking forward to seeing him in action. Dr. Garaki’s files on his Quirk registry were quite... colorful."

"Storm Pterosaur," Shota Aizawa read from a tablet, his tired eyes narrowing. "Transformation class with emitter-level wind generation. Says here his recorded flight speeds breach three hundred miles per hour. That's absurd for a fourteen-year-old."

"Let's see if he can control it," All Might boomed in his muscle form, his eyes locked onto the screen showing Izuku.

Down at the gate, Present Mic’s voice suddenly shattered the silence. "START!"

The massive metal doors began to groan open. The other applicants hesitated, waiting for a countdown or a buzzer.

Izuku didn't wait.

He didn't run. He threw his arms wide.

In a grotesque, mesmerizing display of rapid biological shifting, his bones cracked and lengthened. His pale skin erupted into the armored, storm-gray hide of a prehistoric beast. The massive leathery membranes shot out from his back and arms, unfurling with a sharp SNAP that echoed like a gunshot. His legs shifted, his shoes tearing apart as his feet became thick, scaly, three-toed talons.

He didn't look back. He crouched, his powerful leg muscles coiling like springs, and launched himself into the air with a single, devastating flap of his wings.

BOOOM.

The downdraft hit the ground with the force of a bomb. The applicants standing behind him were literally blown off their feet, tumbling backward into a pile of screaming, flailing limbs. A cloud of dust and debris exploded outward.

By the time the dust cleared, Izuku was gone.

"What are you waiting for?!" Present Mic screamed from the speakers. "There are no countdowns in real battles! Look at the bird boy! He's already scoring!"

The applicants scrambled to their feet, rushing through the gates, coughing on the dust Izuku had left behind.

Three hundred feet in the air, Izuku was a shadow blotting out the artificial sun of the arena. The wind howled around him, but it felt like a gentle caress. His kinetic vision painted the fake city below in hyper-detail. He saw the metallic glint of a One-Pointer rolling down a side street. He saw a group of Two-Pointers clustering in a plaza.

Time to hunt, Izuku thought, his jaw splitting into a predatory grin.

He tucked his twenty-foot wings tight against his body and went into a nosedive. The wind screamed past his ears. He aimed directly for a cluster of three Two-Pointers in the center of a wide intersection.

"Target acquired," he whispered.

He didn't pull up. At the absolute last second, just twenty feet above the robots, he snapped his wings out and angled his body. He didn't brake; he converted his downward momentum into forward, slicing momentum.

"Mach Strike!"

He skimmed the ground at over a hundred and fifty miles per hour. The reinforced, bone-dense leading edges of his wings acted like massive broadswords. He flew directly through the cluster of robots.

SCREEECH—CRASH!

The sound of shearing metal was deafening. Izuku didn't even slow down. He pulled up into a steep climb, rocketing back into the sky. Behind him, the three Two-Pointers stood frozen for a split second before the top halves of their metallic bodies slid cleanly off their torsos, crashing to the pavement in a shower of sparks and oil.

Six points, Izuku calculated, doing a barrel roll to avoid a barrage of tennis-ball-like projectiles fired by a Three-Pointer on a rooftop.

Izuku hovered, staring down at the missile-launching robot. He flapped his wings backward, creating a cushion of air, and then thrust them forward.

"Wind Blade!"

A crescent-shaped distortion of compressed air shot from his wings, crossing the fifty-yard distance in a heartbeat. It struck the Three-Pointer dead center, crushing its chassis inward with the force of a wrecking ball and blowing it cleanly off the roof.

Nine points.

For the next six minutes, the sky belonged to a monster.

Izuku terrorized the Battle Center. Other examinees would be struggling in a drawn-out fistfight with a robot, only to hear the terrifying shriek of wind slicing through the air. A shadow would fall over them, a blur of storm-gray leather and diamond talons would drop from the sky, crush the robot into scrap metal, and shoot back into the clouds before the human applicant could even blink.

He was untouchable. He didn't engage in prolonged combat. He used boom-and-zoom tactics, utilizing his sheer kinetic energy to inflict catastrophic piercing and blunt-force damage.

In the observation room, the teachers were silent.

"Thirty-two points... forty-five... fifty-eight..." Midnight counted, her eyes wide. "He's not even tired. He's destroying them with absolute surgical precision."

"His spatial awareness is phenomenal," Snipe noted, leaning forward. "He hasn't crashed into a single building. He knows exactly how wide his wingspan is, and he's intentionally avoiding the narrow alleys so he doesn't get boxed in."

"He's acting like an apex predator," Aizawa observed, his tone completely flat, though a spark of interest danced in his dark eyes. "He establishes altitude, surveys the battlefield, isolates the target, and executes a one-hit kill. He's ignoring the small fry and only targeting clusters to maximize his time."

"It's not just his physical strength," All Might said, gripping the railing. "Look at the wind currents. He's using his downdrafts to push other applicants out of the way of falling debris. He's actively protecting his competitors while stealing their points."

Nezu chuckled, pressing a large red button on his console. "A brilliant display. Let's see how the king of the sky handles something that eclipses the sun."

Down in the city, Izuku was hovering above a clock tower, his chest heaving slightly.

Seventy-two points, he thought, wiping a smudge of motor oil off his cheek. That should be more than enough to pass. I'm burning a lot of calories. I need to conserve—

A sudden, violent tremor shook the entire Battle Center.

Izuku grabbed the spire of the clock tower with his talons to steady himself. Below him, windows shattered. The asphalt cracked and buckled.

At the far end of the main street, a massive wall of buildings suddenly exploded outward. Through the smoke and fire, a colossal, olive-green monstrosity emerged. It rolled on massive tank treads, its head scraping the artificial clouds above the arena.

The Zero-Pointer.

It was easily the size of a skyscraper. It raised a hand the size of a city block and slammed it into a building, completely leveling it. The shockwave sent applicants below scrambling in absolute terror.

"Run! It's the Zero-Pointer!" someone screamed.

Izuku watched from the spire. It's huge. There's no point in fighting it. It yields zero points. The logical move is to retreat and let the time run out.

He prepared to take off, but his hyper-enhanced vision caught a flicker of movement in the chaos below. Through the thick dust, half-buried under a massive chunk of concrete rubble, was a girl.

Brown hair. Pink cheeks. Uraraka.

She was trapped, desperately trying to push the rubble off her leg as the massive treads of the Zero-Pointer rolled toward her. The other applicants were running the opposite way, too panicked to notice her.

Izuku’s heart stopped.

Logic vanished. Strategy evaporated. Replaced entirely by the roaring, primal instinct to protect.

Without a conscious thought, Izuku dove.

He didn't just glide this time. He pumped his massive wings, violently accelerating his descent. He pulled his wings tight against his back, transforming himself into a perfect, aerodynamic dart.

Faster, he told himself. Faster!

He broke the two-hundred-mile-per-hour mark. The air around him began to distort, a cone of vapor forming around his beak-like jaw. The deafening roar of the wind drowned out the mechanical screeching of the robot.

In the observation room, Present Mic jumped out of his seat. "Wait! What is he doing?! He's going to crash right into the street at terminal velocity!"

"Midoriya!" All Might shouted, stepping toward the monitor.

Izuku's eyes were locked onto Uraraka. He could see her tears. He could see the sheer terror on her face as the shadow of the Zero-Pointer fell over her.

At one hundred feet above the ground, Izuku flared his wings to their absolute maximum.

The deceleration was so violent that the bones in his shoulders groaned, a sickening pop echoing in his ears as a micro-fracture formed. But he didn't care. The massive downdraft he generated acted like a shockwave, blowing the encroaching dust away and creating a crater in the street.

He swooped low, inches above the asphalt. With surgical precision, he extended his lower legs. His thick, scaly toes and diamond-hard talons bypassed the girl entirely, sinking deep into the massive chunk of concrete trapping her leg.

With a roar of exertion, Izuku flapped his wings, utilizing every ounce of his dense core musculature. He lifted the concrete just high enough.

"Grab my arm!" Izuku roared, extending his left wing-arm toward her, exposing the softer, leathery underside.

Uraraka, acting on pure adrenaline, lunged upward, wrapping her arms around his thick, scaly forearm.

Izuku kicked the concrete away and pulled up, rocketing them both into the air just as the Zero-Pointer’s fist slammed into the exact spot they had been, obliterating the street.

Uraraka screamed, squeezing her eyes shut as they shot hundreds of feet into the air.

"I've got you!" Izuku yelled over the wind, holding her securely against his chest with one arm, using his right wing and his tail-feathers to maintain an awkward, one-sided hover.

He looked at the Zero-Pointer. Its massive, glowing red optical sensor locked onto them. It raised its arm, preparing to swat them out of the sky like flies.

It’s too big, Izuku thought, his left shoulder burning with agonizing pain from the deceleration. I can't carry her and fly fast enough to outrun its reach. I have to destroy it.

He couldn't use physical force. Not while holding a passenger.

Izuku took a deep breath, his chest expanding to double its normal size, his massive lungs filling with the thin, high-altitude air. He tapped into the deepest, most primal aspect of his Quirk—the part he rarely used because of the collateral damage.

He opened his jaw.

"Sonic Screech!"

It wasn't wind. It was pure, concentrated sound waves combined with a vacuum tunnel. A horrific, ear-splitting shriek erupted from Izuku, a sound that belonged in the Cretaceous period, a roar that asserted absolute dominance over the food chain.

The sound wave was visible—a rippling distortion in the air that shot forward like a cannonball.

Simultaneously, Izuku swung his free right wing forward with everything he had, sending a massive, high-pressure wind blade surfing behind the sound wave.

The sonic blast hit the Zero-Pointer’s neck joint first, vibrating the armor plating at such an extreme frequency that the heavy steel became brittle. A microsecond later, the wind blade struck.

The compressed air sliced through the weakened, vibrating steel like a hot knife through butter.

Silence fell over the arena for a brief, suspended second.

Then, the head of the Zero-Pointer—a structure the size of a small house—slid backward. The neck joint severed completely. The head plummeted to the earth, crashing into the street with a cataclysmic boom, followed by the rest of the massive body collapsing backward in a cascade of explosions and fire.

High above the destruction, Izuku hovered, his chest heaving, his throat raw and bleeding slightly from the force of the screech.

He looked down at Uraraka, who was staring at the decapitated robot, her jaw hanging open in absolute shock.

"Are you okay?" Izuku asked, his voice raspy, returning to its normal, polite teenage pitch.

Uraraka looked up at him, at his terrifying, reptilian features, the massive leathery wings, the razor-sharp talons. To anyone else, he looked like a villain out of a nightmare. But to her, backlit by the artificial sun, he was a savior.

"Y-Yeah," she breathed. "You're... you're amazing."

"TIIIIIME'S UP!" Present Mic’s voice echoed across the ruined city.

Izuku let out a long breath. He slowly descended, landing gracefully in a clear section of the street. He gently set Uraraka down before taking a few steps back. He closed his eyes, his breathing slowing. The massive wings folded inward, the bones cracking and shifting, the gray hide receding until Izuku Midoriya stood there in his torn black compression shirt, looking exhausted, sweaty, but incredibly human.

He winced, grabbing his left shoulder. He had definitely strained the rotator cuff.

As the recovery robots rolled out and the applicants began to murmur in awe, staring at the headless mechanical titan and the boy who slew it, Izuku looked up at the sky.

He didn't just pass. He had conquered.

A week later, Izuku sat at his desk in his bedroom, staring blankly at his computer screen.

The wait had been agonizing. Despite knowing he had secured at least seventy-two points, the anxiety of the unknown gnawed at him. He passed the time by analyzing his fight with the Zero-Pointer. His sonic screech was effective, but it severely damaged his vocal cords. He needed to find a way to project the sound outward without tearing his own throat.

"Izuku!" Inko burst into the room, holding a circular metallic device. "It's here! The letter from U.A.!"

She placed it on his desk, her hands shaking, and quickly stepped out of the room. "I'll wait out here! I can't look!"

Izuku stared at the disc. He reached out, his fingers trembling slightly, and pressed the button on top.

A holographic projection shot out, and the larger-than-life image of All Might filled his bedroom.

"I AM HERE AS A PROJECTION!" All Might boomed.

Izuku gasped, pushing his chair back. All Might? Why is he doing the acceptance letters?

"Young Midoriya!" All Might pointed a finger at him. "You did remarkably well on the written test! But a hero is not judged by books alone! In the practical exam, you scored a massive seventy-two villain points! An incredible feat that placed you near the very top!"

Izuku let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. He made it.

"But that is not all!" All Might continued, his expression shifting from a booming smile to one of profound respect. "A hero's true worth is measured by their willingness to sacrifice themselves for others! You saw a fellow applicant in danger, and you did not hesitate. You plunged into the face of death to save her!"

The screen shifted, showing a clip of Uraraka speaking to Present Mic after the exam, pleading with him to share her points with the boy who saved her.

"She came to us, asking to give you her points," All Might said gently. "But there was no need. For your actions against the Zero-Pointer, a panel of judges awarded you Rescue Points!"

The scoreboard appeared on the screen.

Izuku Midoriya. 72 Villain Points. 60 Rescue Points.

Total: 132 Points. Rank: 1st.

"With a score that shatters past records, you have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that you possess the heart of a true hero," All Might said, holding out a hand as if reaching through the projection. "Come, Young Midoriya. This is your Hero Academia!"

The projection fizzled out.

Izuku sat in silence for a long time. The weight of the moment settled over him. He looked down at his hands, flexing his fingers, feeling the latent power sleeping beneath his skin.

He wasn't just a mutant. He wasn't a monster. He was a hero.

The apex of the heavens had been awakened, and U.A. High School was about to realize that the sky was no longer the limit. It was just the beginning.

The first day of high school is traditionally a time of fresh starts, nervous introductions, and the desperate hope of fitting in. For Izuku Midoriya, it was an exercise in spatial awareness.

Walking through the massive, cavernous halls of U.A. High School, Izuku couldn't help but calculate the dimensions of the corridors. Thirty feet wide. Twenty feet high. Reinforced concrete. If I fully transformed here, my wingspan would scrape the walls. I'd have no room to generate an updraft. I'd be grounded.

It was a sobering thought. For ten months, he had ruled the open sky above Dagobah Beach. Indoors, he was suddenly very mortal.

He paused in front of a door roughly the size of a bank vault, painted with a massive red '1-A'. He took a deep breath, adjusted the straps of his yellow backpack, and slid the door open.

Chaos immediately greeted him.

"Take your feet off that desk!" a tall boy with glasses and stiff, robotic posture was barking. "It's disrespectful to your classmates and to the great alumni of this institution!"

"Huh?" Katsuki Bakugo sneered, his feet propped aggressively on his desk, his chair tilted back. "And what middle school did you crawl out of, extra?"

"I am Tenya Iida from Somei Private Academy!"

"Somei? So you're a stuck-up elite, then? I'll have fun crushing you," Bakugo smirked, tiny sparks popping from his palms.

Izuku sighed. Some things never changed. He stepped into the classroom, and the heavy door slid shut behind him. The click of the latch seemed to draw the room's attention. Iida turned, his eyes widening slightly as he recognized Izuku from the entrance exam.

"You!" Iida marched over, chopping the air with his hand. "You're the one who discovered the hidden rescue mechanic of the practical exam! I must apologize; I misjudged you completely. I am—"

"Tenya Iida, I heard," Izuku smiled politely, offering a slight bow. "I'm Izuku Midoriya. And I didn't discover any hidden mechanic. I just saw someone in trouble and acted."

"Midoriya!" A cheerful voice cut through the tension. Izuku turned to see the round-faced girl from the exam—Ochaco Uraraka—bounding toward him. "You made it! I mean, of course you made it, that punch—well, that wind-slice-thing was amazing! Oh, and thank you again for saving me!"

"It was nothing," Izuku said, rubbing the back of his neck, feeling the sudden warmth in his cheeks. He wasn't used to praise that didn't immediately follow a scream of terror.

"If you're just here to make friends, you can pack up your things and leave."

The voice was dry, flat, and completely devoid of warmth. It seemed to come from the floor.

Izuku’s kinetic vision snapped downward. A man resembling a giant yellow caterpillar was lying in the hallway just outside the now-open door, slurping a jelly pouch. The man unzipped the sleeping bag and stood up, revealing a scruffy, exhausted-looking adult draped in black, with a gray capture scarf coiled around his neck.

"It took you lot eight seconds to quiet down," the man sighed, stepping up to the podium. "Time is a precious resource. You lot aren't rational enough. I'm Shota Aizawa. I'm your homeroom teacher."

The class stared in stunned silence. This disheveled man was a Pro Hero?

"Put these on," Aizawa said, pulling a blue and white U.A. gym uniform from his sleeping bag. "And head out to the P.E. grounds. We're having a Quirk Apprehension Test."

The sunlight on the athletic field was a welcome relief. Izuku felt his tense muscles relax. The sky above was clear, vast, and inviting.

He wore the standard P.E. uniform, but his was slightly modified. The U.A. Support Course had preemptively altered the shirt, adding overlapping, magnetic flaps along the shoulder blades and down the arms to allow his wings to erupt without shredding the fabric.

"A Quirk Apprehension Test?" Uraraka asked nervously. "What about the entrance ceremony? Or orientation?"

"U.A. isn't tethered to traditional customs," Aizawa said, his back turned to them. "Heroes have to be adaptable. The Department of Education relies on completely irrational standardized tests that forbid Quirk usage. It’s a waste of time. Bakugo, you finished first in the practical exam, didn't you?"

Bakugo scowled but nodded.

"What was your farthest softball throw in middle school?"

"Sixty-seven meters," Bakugo replied.

"Try doing it with your Quirk," Aizawa instructed, tossing him a baseball. "Anything goes, just stay in the circle."

Bakugo stepped into the chalk ring, stretching his shoulders. A feral grin spread across his face. He wound his arm back, his muscles coiling. As he threw the ball forward, a massive explosion erupted from his palm.

"DIE!" Bakugo roared.

The blast propelled the ball into the sky, leaving a trail of smoke. Aizawa held up a digital device. It beeped. He turned the screen to the class.

705.2 meters.

The class erupted into cheers and gasps. "Awesome!" "We can really use our Quirks?" "This looks like fun!"

Aizawa’s eyes darkened, a terrifying aura bleeding out from his tired frame. "Fun? You have three years to become heroes. You think it's going to be games and playtime? Fine. Whoever scores the lowest across all eight tests will be judged as having zero potential and will be expelled."

The cheers died instantly. Silence fell over the field like a heavy blanket.

Izuku didn't flinch. He looked at the sky, his eyes tracking a solitary hawk circling on a thermal. Adaptable, he thought. He wants to see how our powers apply to basic physical metrics. Fine.

The first test was the 50-meter dash.

Izuku lined up against a frog-like girl named Tsuyu Asui. A robot camera hovered at the finish line, ready to record their times.

"Ready," the robot announced.

Izuku crouched. He didn't need his full wingspan for this. Fifty meters was too short to build true flight velocity, and a full transformation would create too much drag on the ground. Instead, he channeled the mutation specifically into his forearms and calves.

With a sickening, wet crack that made Tsuyu flinch, Izuku’s arms morphed. But instead of twenty-foot leathery sails, he produced dense, hardened, feathered-leather pinions that extended only three feet past his elbows. His calves thickened, muscle density increasing tenfold as his feet elongated into razor-sharp talons that dug directly into the starting block's synthetic rubber.

"Start!"

Tsuyu leapt with incredible amphibian leg strength.

Izuku simply thrust his pinion-arms backward.

BOOM.

A concussive shockwave of air exploded behind him. Izuku didn't run. He was launched forward like a bullet fired from a railgun, skimming exactly two inches above the ground. He crossed the finish line before the dust from his starting point had even settled. He flared his pinions forward to brake, skidding to a halt, his talons gouging deep trenches into the dirt.

"1.14 seconds," the robot chirped.

The class gaped. Even Bakugo’s eye twitched.

Next was the grip strength test. Izuku partially transformed his right hand into a massive, three-toed pterosaur talon. He gripped the digital dynamometer and squeezed. The machine let out a pathetic squeak before the reinforced plastic shattered completely, wires and sparks spilling out of his scaly grasp. He sheepishly handed the broken pieces to Aizawa, who just sighed and wrote down 'Unmeasurable.'

He dominated the standing long jump by simply gliding over the sandbox entirely, landing on the grass a hundred feet away.

But Izuku was acutely aware of Aizawa’s gaze. The teacher’s eyes tracked his every move, cold, calculating, and unimpressed.

Finally, it was the softball throw.

Izuku stepped into the circle. He looked at the small white ball resting in the palm of his hand. I can throw it conventionally, but my human muscle mass won't get it past sixty meters. I have to use wind pressure.

He took a breath. He decided to go for overwhelming force. He began to fully transform.

His back arched, his shoulders popping loudly as the massive leathery membranes began to rip out from his shoulder blades, his arms stretching, his skin graying—

Suddenly, the ball dropped from his hand.

Izuku stumbled forward, a wave of profound nausea washing over him. His wings stopped growing mid-transformation. The leathery hide retracted violently, snapping back into human skin. His bones ached as they rapidly densified back to normal. He felt heavy. Clumsy. Human.

He gasped, looking down at his completely normal, quirkless hands.

"I erased your Quirk."

Izuku snapped his head up. Aizawa’s capture scarf was floating wildly around him, defying gravity. The teacher’s hair stood on end, and his dark eyes glowed a menacing, piercing red.

"A Transformation-Emitter hybrid," Aizawa said coldly, stepping toward the circle. "Massive structural changes, hollow bones, and the ability to manipulate atmospheric pressure. You've had ten years to master it. And yet, what were you about to do just now?"

Izuku swallowed hard. "I... I was going to use a concentrated downdraft to propel the ball into the upper atmosphere."

"And the backdraft?" Aizawa demanded, his voice cracking like a whip. "A downdraft strong enough to launch a projectile a kilometer into the air generates a massive localized vacuum. The concussive force would have blown half your classmates into the school building. It would have shattered every window on this side of the campus."

Izuku’s eyes widened. He looked back at his classmates, who were watching in confusion.

"You think because you cleaned up a beach, you understand collateral damage?" Aizawa sneered, pulling his scarf tighter. "You're a weapon of mass destruction playing hero. In a hostage situation indoors, your Quirk is useless. In a crowded street, a single flap of your wings will kill the civilians you're trying to protect. If you can't control the shockwaves of your own power, you are nothing but a liability."

Aizawa blinked. His hair fell flat, and his eyes returned to normal.

Instantly, the heavy, restrictive feeling vanished from Izuku’s chest. The latent power flooded back into his veins.

"You have one more try," Aizawa said, turning his back. "If you blow away your classmates, you're expelled on the spot."

Izuku stood in the circle, his heart hammering against his ribs.

He was angry. Not at Aizawa, but at himself. The teacher was right. Izuku had spent ten months optimizing for speed and destruction against lifeless mountains of trash. He hadn't factored in the fragility of human bodies standing directly behind him.

Control, Izuku thought, picking up the ball. I don't need a hurricane. I need a scalpel.

He closed his eyes. He didn't transform his entire body. He kept his skeletal structure human. He rolled up his right sleeve.

"What's Deku doing?" Bakugo muttered, narrowing his eyes.

Izuku focused entirely on his right arm. The skin from his wrist to his elbow hardened, turning gray and scaly. But instead of wings, he manipulated the micro-scales on his hide. His Quirk allowed him to vibrate these scales to control air pressure.

He held the ball tightly. He began to vibrate the scales on his arm at a hyper-frequency.

A low, humming sound filled the air.

Wzzzzzz.

Suddenly, a violent swirl of air materialized, wrapping exclusively around Izuku’s right arm. It was a localized tornado, tightly compressed, spiraling up from his elbow to his palm like a drill. The wind howled, but the force was completely contained. The dust at his feet didn't even stir.

Aizawa glanced over his shoulder, his eyes widening a fraction of an inch. He's compressing the atmospheric pressure into a closed circuit. Unbelievable control.

Izuku wound up his pitch. He didn't just throw the ball; he uncoiled the tornado.

"Vortex Pitch!"

As his arm snapped forward, he released the compressed air all at once, directly behind the ball.

There was no massive shockwave. There was only a sharp CRACK, like a sniper rifle firing, and a white streak that shot into the sky, punching a literal hole through a small cloud passing overhead. The ball vanished into the stratosphere.

Izuku exhaled, steam rising from his overheated right arm as it shifted back to human skin. He looked at Aizawa, his golden-green eyes burning with quiet defiance.

Aizawa held up the device.

3,405.1 meters.

"I didn't break any windows, Sensei," Izuku said softly. "Am I still a liability?"

Aizawa stared at the boy for a long moment. A terrifying, predatory smile tugged at the corner of the underground hero’s mouth. "No. You're a problem child. Get back in line."

The rest of the tests passed in a blur. When the final scores were tallied, Izuku sat comfortably at Rank 1. Bakugo was third, having been edged out by Yaoyorozu’s creation quirk. Mineta, a short boy with purple spheres on his head, placed last. Aizawa revealed the expulsion threat was a "logical ruse" to draw out their true potential, though the look in his eye suggested he wasn't entirely lying.

As they walked back to the locker rooms, Bakugo shouldered past Izuku, the air smelling sharply of burnt sugar and ozone.

"You've been holding out on me, Deku," Bakugo hissed, his red eyes burning with a manic intensity. "You figured out how to use that freakish wind without transforming like a giant bat. Good. I want you at your best when I crush you."

Izuku didn't rise to the bait. "I'm just adapting, Kacchan. Like Aizawa-sensei said."

"We'll see how adaptable you are when you don't have the whole damn sky to play in," Bakugo spat, stalking off.

Izuku frowned, watching his rival walk away. Bakugo’s words hit closer to home than the explosive blonde realized.

The next day, Izuku’s anxieties were put to the ultimate test.

"I AM HERE!" All Might’s booming voice echoed through the classroom as he marched through the door, striking a ridiculous pose. "COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!"

The class erupted in awe. Izuku felt a thrill of excitement, despite himself. All Might was the reason he pushed his Quirk to its limits.

"Welcome to Hero Basic Training!" All Might declared, holding up a card with the word 'BATTLE' printed on it. "Today, we're jumping right into combat! But first... you need to look the part!"

Sections of the wall slid outward, revealing numbered briefcases containing their hero costumes.

Twenty minutes later, Class 1-A walked out of Ground Beta’s tunnel into a massive fake cityscape.

Izuku stepped out, feeling a surge of pride. His costume had been meticulously designed, heavily inspired by high-altitude test pilots and raptor physiology. He wore a dark green, form-fitting flight suit made of advanced, lightweight ballistic mesh that wouldn't restrict his joints.

Over his chest, he wore a carbon-fiber harness that buckled securely, but left his entire back completely exposed to allow for unhindered transformation. His forearms and lower legs were wrapped in a specialized, stretchable Kevlar that would adapt to his talons and pinions without tearing. On his face, he wore a high-tech aviator’s mask with tinted goggles to protect his eyes from extreme wind shear and debris during high-speed dives, and a respirator covering his mouth to supply oxygen at thin altitudes.

"Whoa, Deku! You look like a fighter jet!"

Izuku turned to see Uraraka running up to him. She was wearing a pink and black, space-themed suit with bulky bracers and boots.

"Thanks, Uraraka. Yours looks very functional for zero-gravity maneuvering," Izuku noted, observing the shock-absorbing heels on her boots.

"Now that you're all ready, let's get down to business!" All Might boomed. "The situation is this: Villains have hidden a nuclear weapon inside a multi-story building. The Heroes must infiltrate the building and secure the weapon or capture the villains within the time limit!"

Lots were drawn. Izuku watched as All Might pulled the balls from the boxes.

"Team A will be the Heroes!" All Might announced. "Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka!"

Izuku smiled at Uraraka, who pumped her fist in the air.

"And Team D will be the Villains!" All Might read the next ball. "Katsuki Bakugo and Tenya Iida!"

Izuku’s smile vanished.

Across the group, Bakugo slowly turned his head. His costume was aggressive—black and orange with massive, grenade-shaped gauntlets on his forearms. He locked eyes with Izuku, a slow, sadistic grin spreading across his face. He punched a fist into his palm, a small explosion echoing in the silent street.

"The Villains will go inside first and set up! Heroes, you have five minutes to formulate a plan!" All Might instructed, directing Bakugo and Iida into the building.

Izuku stared at the structure. It was a five-story concrete building with narrow windows and tight, twisting hallways.

Bakugo was right, Izuku thought, a cold sweat breaking out on the back of his neck. I don't have the sky today.

"Deku?" Uraraka asked, noticing his tense posture. "Are you okay? You look pale."

"I'm fine," Izuku lied, pulling down his goggles. He pulled out a small architectural blueprint of the building provided by All Might. "But we have a severe disadvantage. Bakugo’s explosions are devastating in enclosed spaces. And my Quirk... if I fully transform in there, I'll wedge myself between the walls. I won't be able to turn, let alone fly."

"So, what do we do?" Uraraka asked.

"We split up," Izuku decided, his eyes narrowing behind the tinted glass of his goggles. "Bakugo isn't going to care about defending the weapon. He's coming straight for me. He wants to prove he's better. I'll draw him off, keep him occupied. You use your Quirk to make yourself light, sneak past them, and find Iida and the weapon."

Uraraka nodded, her face hardening with determination. "Got it. You be careful, Deku. Bakugo looked really mad."

"He's always mad," Izuku muttered. "But today, he's dangerous."

"HERO TEAM, INFILTRATE!" All Might’s voice crackled over the PA system.

Izuku and Uraraka slipped through a first-floor window. The interior of the building was dark, lit only by emergency lights. The hallways were barely eight feet wide, twisting in a labyrinthine pattern.

Every step Izuku took felt wrong. The air was stale and still. There were no micro-currents of wind to read, no thermal updrafts. His hollow bones felt achy in the heavy, stagnant air. The ceiling felt like it was pressing down on him.

Claustrophobia, he realized. Avian instinct. I hate being caged.

They moved silently up to the second floor. They reached an intersection.

Suddenly, Izuku’s enhanced hearing caught the faintest sound. The scrape of combat boots on concrete. The soft, unmistakable sizzle of a fuse burning.

"Uraraka, get back!" Izuku roared, violently shoving her around the corner.

He didn't have time to run. He crossed his arms over his face, his Quirk activating instinctively. His forearms thickened, bursting into gray, scaled hide.

From around the opposite corner, a massive fireball erupted, filling the entire hallway.

BOOM!

The explosion slammed into Izuku. The heat washed over him, singing the edges of his green hair. The sheer concussive force lifted him off his feet, throwing him backward down the hall. He hit the concrete wall hard, the breath knocked out of his lungs.

Through the thick, acrid smoke, glowing red eyes appeared.

Bakugo stepped into the hallway, smoke trailing from his grenade gauntlet. "Nice reflexes, Deku. But your little bird-arms are trembling."

Izuku pushed himself off the wall, his arms reverting to human skin. His flight suit was scorched, but his Kevlar sleeves had absorbed the brunt of the shrapnel. "Uraraka, go!" he shouted over his shoulder.

He heard Uraraka’s footsteps retreating quickly up the stairwell.

Bakugo didn't even glance her way. His entire focus was locked on Izuku. "Good. The extra is out of the way. Now it's just you and me."

"You're ignoring the objective, Kacchan," Izuku said, settling into a defensive stance.

"Beating you into the dirt is my objective," Bakugo snarled.

Bakugo launched himself forward, using a blast from his rear hand to propel himself like a rocket. The cramped hallway was an absolute nightmare for Izuku, but for Bakugo, it was a funnel that concentrated his speed.

Izuku sidestepped, ducking under a vicious right hook that exploded against the wall behind him, showering Izuku in concrete dust.

Izuku retaliated with a sweep kick, his leg morphing mid-swing into a dense, scaly talon.

Bakugo jumped over it, pointing his left palm down. BOOM. He blasted himself into the ceiling, rebounding off the concrete to launch a diving axe kick at Izuku’s head.

Izuku crossed his arms, fully transforming them into dense, three-foot feathered pinions to block.

The impact was bone-jarring. Izuku’s knees buckled under the weight of Bakugo’s explosive kick.

"What's wrong, Deku?!" Bakugo laughed manically, landing on his feet and immediately following up with a barrage of left and right hooks, each one accompanied by a concussive blast. "Where's the big bad monster of the sky? Where's your stupid wind?! You can't even spread your wings in this birdcage!"

Izuku was forced on the defensive, retreating backward down the hallway, taking hit after hit. His pinion-shields were durable, but the continuous concussive force was rattling his hollow bones. Blood tricked from a small cut on his forehead.

He's right, Izuku thought, his mind racing as he parried another explosion. If I try to use a Wind Blade here, the air pressure will have nowhere to go. It will bounce off the walls and hit me, bringing the ceiling down on both of us.

"Die!" Bakugo screamed, grabbing the pin of his right grenade gauntlet. "These things store my sweat! Let's see your little feathers block this!"

Izuku’s eyes widened. If Bakugo fired a maximum-yield blast in this corridor, the entire floor would collapse.

"Young Bakugo, stop! Are you trying to kill him?!" All Might’s panicked voice crackled over the earpieces.

"He won't die if he dodges!" Bakugo roared, yanking the pin.

A blinding flash of light consumed the hallway.

The explosion was catastrophic. A torrent of fire and concussive force ripped through the corridor, obliterating the walls, shattering the structural pillars, and vaporizing the floorboards. The shockwave traveled through the entire building, making the structure groan in protest.

In the monitor room, the class watched in horrified silence as the camera feed for the second floor dissolved into static.

"Sensei, you have to stop this!" Kirishima yelled, slamming his hands on the console. "That was murder!"

All Might gripped the microphone, his knuckles white. "Young Midori—"

Down in the smoke-filled ruins of the second floor, the fires burned low, casting long, eerie shadows. Bakugo stood at the end of the destroyed hallway, his chest heaving, his right arm trembling from the recoil of the gauntlet blast.

"Should have stayed out of my way, Deku," Bakugo panted, a dark smile on his face.

The smoke began to swirl.

Not naturally. It was moving in a distinct, circular pattern. Pulling inward.

Bakugo’s smile faded. He squinted through the haze.

At the far end of the blasted corridor, a silhouette stood amidst the rubble.

Izuku hadn't dodged. He couldn't; there was nowhere to go.

Instead, he had planted his feet, fully transformed his massive, twenty-foot wingspan, and immediately wrapped them completely around his body like a cocoon. The ultra-dense, leathery hide of his prehistoric wings had taken the absolute brunt of the explosion.

Slowly, the wings unfurled. The hide was scorched black, smoking, and dotted with minor burns, but unbroken.

Izuku stood in the center, perfectly uninjured, though his flight suit was singed and his respirator mask was cracked. His golden-green eyes glowed with a terrifying, primal intensity through the shattered lens of his goggles.

He didn't look like a student anymore. He looked like an apex predator that had just survived a trap, and was now incredibly angry.

"You're an idiot, Kacchan," Izuku said, his voice dropping an octave, echoing with a strange, guttural resonance due to his slightly elongated, beak-like jaw.

Bakugo grit his teeth, sparks igniting in his left hand. "Shut up! You're just a glorified shield!"

"You destroyed the walls," Izuku pointed out, slowly spreading his massive wings. The tips scraped against the ruined walls, knocking loose concrete blocks. "You destroyed the ceiling. You widened the corridor."

Bakugo froze. He looked around.

The claustrophobic, eight-foot-wide hallway was gone. The explosion had blown out the interior walls and completely shattered the exterior windows of the building, exposing the floor to the outside air.

A fresh breeze blew in from the fake city outside.

Izuku took a deep breath, his lungs expanding. He could feel the atmospheric pressure equalizing. He could feel the open sky calling to him.

"You opened the birdcage, Kacchan," Izuku whispered.

Bakugo roared in fury, launching himself forward, both palms primed for a massive double explosion.

Izuku didn't retreat. He crouched low, his leg muscles bulging, and leapt straight at Bakugo.

They met in the center of the ruined floor. Bakugo thrust his palms forward. Izuku spun mid-air, using his left wing as a massive, heavy bludgeon, swatting Bakugo’s arms upward just as the explosions went off, redirecting the blast harmlessly into the exposed ceiling.

Before Bakugo could recover, Izuku brought his right wing forward, entirely cupping the air in front of him.

"Wind Tunnel Cannon!"

Izuku didn't use full power; he didn't want to kill Bakugo. But he used enough.

A concentrated column of air, pressurized to the density of a solid brick wall, blasted from Izuku’s wings. It hit Bakugo squarely in the chest.

The air left Bakugo’s lungs in a violent whoosh. He was lifted off his feet and blasted backward like he had been struck by a speeding truck. He flew thirty feet across the room, crashing through a weakened interior wall, rolling across the concrete, and finally slamming into a support beam, where he slumped to the ground, stunned and gasping for breath.

"Deku... Uraraka has eyes on the weapon," Izuku spoke into his radio, his voice returning to normal. "Fifth floor, north corner. Iida is guarding it."

"Roger that!" Uraraka’s voice came back, strained. "But he cleaned out all the loose objects in the room! I have nothing to float to use as weapons! And he's too fast for me to touch!"

"I'm on my way."

Izuku didn't run to the stairwell. He turned toward the massive, gaping hole in the exterior wall that Bakugo’s explosion had created.

With a powerful thrust of his legs, Izuku leapt out of the building.

For two seconds, he free-fell toward the pavement below. Then, he snapped his twenty-foot wings open. They caught the wind with a sound like a ship's sail filling with a gale.

In a fraction of a second, the heavy, sluggish boy from the hallway vanished.

Izuku shot upward, surfing the updraft along the side of the building. He was back in his element. The speed was intoxicating. The air was crisp. He was untouchable.

In the monitor room, the class watched in awe as the exterior cameras picked up Izuku scaling the outside of the building in a massive, sweeping spiral, his storm-gray wings cutting through the air with terrifying grace.

"He's bypassing the interior entirely," Todoroki, a boy with half-white, half-red hair, noted quietly. "A smart tactical move. He's utilizing his environment."

On the fifth floor, Iida was pacing around the papier-mâché nuclear weapon, adjusting his glasses.

"Hahaha! You cannot defeat me, Hero!" Iida boomed, clearly enjoying his villainous roleplay a bit too much. "I have removed all debris! Your anti-gravity Quirk is useless here! Surrender now, and—"

"Uraraka, get down!" Izuku’s voice echoed from her earpiece.

Uraraka immediately dropped to the floor, covering her head.

Iida blinked. "What? Why are you—"

CRASH!

The entire glass wall of the fifth-floor room exploded inward.

A shadow eclipsed the room. Iida looked up in absolute horror as a monstrous, winged beast plummeted through the shattered window, surrounded by a maelstrom of flying glass and wind.

Izuku didn't even land. He swept into the room, tucked his wings to avoid the pillars, and skimmed the floor.

Before Iida’s brain could even send the signal to activate the engines in his calves, Izuku was past him.

Izuku slammed his hand against the smooth surface of the nuclear weapon.

Silence fell over the room, save for the tinkling of broken glass settling on the concrete.

Izuku stood up, his wings slowly retracting into his back, his scaly hide fading to pale skin. He pulled off his shattered aviator goggles, offering Iida a polite, apologetic smile.

"Capture successful, Iida," Izuku said cheerfully.

Over the PA system, All Might’s voice boomed, thick with relief and pride.

"THE HERO TEAM... WIIIIINS!"

Uraraka cheered from the floor. Iida slumped his shoulders, hanging his head in defeat. "I didn't even factor in an aerial assault through the windows. Truly, a brilliant, unconventional strategy, Midoriya."

Izuku looked out the shattered window, down at the ground below, where Bakugo was just stumbling out of the building, holding his ribs and glaring up at the sky with unadulterated hatred.

Izuku’s smile faded. The battle was won. But looking at the sheer rage radiating from his childhood rival, he knew the war was far from over.

I can't always rely on blowing holes in walls to get back to the sky, Izuku thought, touching the scorched fabric of his flight suit. I won today because Kacchan made a mistake. But next time... next time, I need to know how to fight in the cage.

The bus ride to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint was supposed to be a quiet, mentally preparing journey. Instead, it was a chaotic mix of nervous energy and boisterous teenage banter.

Izuku Midoriya sat near the middle of the bus, staring out the window as the sprawling urban landscape of Musutafu blurred past. He wore his hero costume, minus the heavy aviator goggles and respirator mask, allowing the cool air from the bus’s AC to ruffle his unruly green hair. His mind was miles away, calculating wind shear and drag coefficients, still dissecting his performance in the battle trial against Bakugo.

"Hey, Midoriya," a blunt, slightly croaky voice called out.

Izuku turned his head. Tsuyu Asui, the frog-quirk girl who had raced him during the apprehension test, was leaning over the aisle, her large, dark eyes blinking lazily.

"Yes, Asui?" Izuku asked politely.

"I told you to call me Tsu," she corrected, placing a finger on her chin. "I'm a pretty straightforward person, so I just say whatever is on my mind. Your Quirk is terrifying."

The bus suddenly went quiet. A few students winced, expecting Izuku to take offense.

Izuku just blinked, then offered a small, self-deprecating smile. "I get that a lot, Tsu. It’s... not exactly subtle."

"It's not just that it's strong," Tsu continued, tilting her head. "When you fully transform, you don't look like a bird. You look like a dinosaur. It feels primal. Like you’re at the very top of the food chain. When you leaped out of that building during the battle trial, my frog instincts were screaming at me to hide under a rock."

"A dinosaur?" Denki Kaminari leaned over his seat, grinning. "Man, that makes sense! It’s like a Pterodactyl, right?"

"Pteranodon, actually," Izuku corrected softly, rubbing the back of his neck. "Pterodactyls are much smaller. My skeletal structure and wing membranes are closer to a Pteranodon, though my wind manipulation is an emitter mutation that doesn't exist in nature."

"Whatever it is, it's flashy and strong as hell," Eijiro Kirishima sighed, holding up his arm and activating his Hardening quirk, turning his skin to jagged rock. "Unlike mine. Hardening is great in a fight, but it doesn't really stand out, you know? Pro Heroes need to be popular, and popularity comes from flashy Quirks."

"Are you kidding?" Izuku leaned forward, his analytical mind kicking into gear. "Kirishima, your Quirk is incredibly versatile. It’s not just defensive. If you apply the hardening dynamically just before impact, you can increase your kinetic output exponentially without tearing your own muscle fibers. You’re essentially a human bunkerbuster. The only limit to your offensive power is your pain tolerance."

Kirishima stared at him, his jaw hanging slightly open, before a massive grin broke across his face. "Whoa... seriously? I never thought about it like that! Thanks, Midoriya! You're a true bro!"

"If you want to talk about flashy and strong, though, you gotta look at Midoriya, Todoroki, and Bakugo," Mina Ashido chimed in, pointing at the explosive blonde sitting near the front of the bus.

Bakugo stiffened, glaring out the window, his jaw clenched tight. He hadn't said a word to Izuku since the battle trial. The defeat still burned like battery acid in his veins.

"Yeah, but Bakugo's always so angry," Tsu said bluntly. "He'll never be popular with a personality like a rabid dog."

"WHAT DID YOU SAY, YOU DAMN FROG?!" Bakugo exploded, leaping out of his seat and grabbing the railing, small detonations popping in his palms. "I'LL KILL YOU! I'M GONNA BE NUMBER ONE!"

"See?" Tsu pointed a single finger at him, unbothered.

"We're here," Shota Aizawa's exhausted voice cut through the shouting. "Stop messing around and get off the bus."

The class filed out, their bickering dying down as they looked up at the massive, dome-shaped facility before them. It looked like a giant, futuristic stadium, constructed from sweeping arches of steel and heavily tinted glass.

Standing before the massive steel doors was the Space Hero: Thirteen.

"Welcome, everyone!" Thirteen said, their voice heavily modulated by their bulky, astronaut-like suit. "I have been waiting for you! Inside is the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, or the USJ for short! It’s a training ground I built specifically to simulate various types of accidents and disasters."

The class gasped in awe as the doors opened, revealing the interior. It was a sprawling, multi-zoned wonderland of catastrophe. There was a mountain zone, a ruined city, a massive artificial lake with a sinking ship, a landslide zone, and a raging fire zone.

"Before we begin, I have one or two... or three... or four things to say," Thirteen began, holding up their fingers. The hero lowered their hand, their tone turning deeply serious. "I'm sure you are all aware of my Quirk, Black Hole. It can suck up and tear apart anything."

"You've used it to save hundreds of people from disasters!" Uraraka cheered, bouncing on her heels.

"Yes. But it is also a Quirk that could easily be used to kill," Thirteen said softly. The class fell silent. "In our superhuman society, Quirks are heavily regulated, and for the most part, we live in a peaceful illusion. But never forget that a single wrong step, a single loss of control, can result in a fatal tragedy."

Izuku felt a chill run down his spine. He remembered Aizawa’s warning during the apprehension test. If you can't control the shockwaves of your own power, you are nothing but a liability.

Thirteen turned toward the students. "Aizawa's physical fitness test showed you the sheer potential of your own bodies. All Might's combat trials taught you the danger of using your powers against others. But today is different. Today, you will learn how to use your Quirks to save human lives. You do not possess your powers to hurt people. You hold them to protect." Thirteen bowed deeply. "That is all! Thank you for listening!"

The class erupted into applause. Izuku felt a surge of inspiration. This was why he was here. Not to fight, but to rescue.

"Alright, that's enough," Aizawa grunted, stepping forward. He glanced at his phone. "All Might was supposed to meet us here, but he's exhausted his limit doing civilian work on the commute. Typical. We'll proceed without him. First, we—"

Aizawa stopped.

Izuku felt it a split second before the lights died.

It wasn't a sound or a smell. It was a pressure drop. A shift in the atmospheric density of the massive dome. Izuku’s avian instincts, heavily tied to barometric pressure, flared to life. The hair on his arms stood on end. A primal, suffocating sensation gripped his throat.

Predator.

The massive floodlights illuminating the USJ suddenly shattered in a cascade of sparks. The mechanical hum of the fountain in the central plaza sputtered and died.

Down in the plaza, the air tore open.

It started as a pinprick of dark purple mist, and then expanded rapidly into a swirling, vortex-like portal.

"Gather together and don't move!" Aizawa barked, his slouched posture vanishing instantly. He reached up, gripping his capture scarf. "Thirteen, protect the students!"

"What is that?" Eijiro Kirishima asked, squinting into the gloom. "Is this like the entrance exam? Does the rescue training start with fake villains?"

"Those aren't fake," Aizawa said, his voice dropping to a terrifying, deadly register. He pulled his yellow goggles over his eyes. "Those are real villains."

Through the purple mist, figures began to emerge. Dozens of them. Thugs, mutants, criminals armed with pipes and rusted blades. But three figures stood out. A man covered in disembodied hands, scratching his neck erratically. A massive, hulking monstrosity with exposed brain matter and a beak-like jaw. And the purple mist itself, which seemed to coalesce into a humanoid shape with glowing yellow eyes.

"Eraserhead and Thirteen," the mist entity, Kurogiri, observed. "The schedule we retrieved said All Might would be here. Has there been a change of plans?"

"I knew it," Aizawa sneered. "The media break-in at the school yesterday. It was you bastards."

"Where is he?" the man covered in hands—Tomura Shigaraki—rasped. "I went through all the trouble of bringing this whole crowd... and the Symbol of Peace isn't here? Maybe if I kill a few kids, he'll show up."

Aizawa crouched, preparing to jump down the massive flight of stairs to confront the horde single-handedly. "Thirteen, begin the evacuation! Try to contact the school!"

Aizawa leaped forward.

Danger.

Izuku’s hyper-enhanced kinetic vision saw the purple mist shift. Kurogiri didn't stay in the plaza. The villain recognized Aizawa’s threat and Thirteen’s objective simultaneously.

Before Aizawa could even begin his descent, the space in front of the students tore open. Kurogiri manifested directly in front of the class, cutting Aizawa off and blocking the exit to the heavy steel doors.

"I won't allow that," Kurogiri said courteously, his purple mist expanding rapidly outward like a tidal wave, rushing to engulf the students. "My apologies. We are the League of Villains. And it is our duty to scatter you across this facility and tear you apart."

Thirteen raised their fingers, preparing to open a Black Hole, but the mist was too fast, too expansive.

Izuku didn't think. The shift in his skeleton was instantaneous and violent.

CRACK.

His arms blew completely out of his sleeves, transforming into massive, storm-gray leathery wings. His legs thickened, tearing through his boots as his scaly talons found purchase on the concrete.

The purple mist was mere inches from swallowing Aizawa, Uraraka, Iida, and Thirteen. Half the class behind them—Bakugo, Todoroki, Kirishima—were already being engulfed by the expanding dome of warp-gate energy.

Izuku lunged forward. He couldn't save everyone. The mist was too wide. But he could save the vanguard.

His massive left talon shot out, wrapping securely around Aizawa's waist. His right wing swept forward, enveloping Uraraka and Thirteen in a protective embrace.

Izuku didn't just flap his wings. He pulled all the atmospheric pressure in the immediate five-meter radius and detonated it.

BOOOOOOM!

The concussive shockwave of air was so powerful it literally warped the space around them. The violent blast of wind tore a hole straight through Kurogiri’s misty body, disrupting the warp gate’s structural integrity for a fraction of a second.

Using the massive recoil of the blast, Izuku rocketed backward, dragging Aizawa, Thirteen, and Uraraka with him, narrowly escaping the purple dome just as it snapped shut.

When the dust settled, Izuku was hovering ten feet in the air, his twenty-foot wingspan beating rhythmically, sending gusts of wind cascading over the entrance platform.

He set Aizawa and Thirteen down.

"Good reflexes, Midoriya," Aizawa panted, recovering his footing instantly. The teacher looked past Izuku. Where there were once twenty students, there were now only a handful. Iida, Uraraka, Shoji, Ashido, Sero, and Sato remained. The rest were gone.

"He scattered them," Aizawa growled, glaring at Kurogiri, who was reforming his misty body, seemingly unfazed by the wind blast.

"Impressive wind pressure, child," Kurogiri complimented smoothly. "But a futile effort. Your friends are already in the hands of my associates."

Aizawa’s mind worked at lightning speed. He couldn't fight Kurogiri and the horde in the plaza simultaneously. He needed control of the battlefield.

"Thirteen! Guard the remaining students and the exit!" Aizawa ordered.

He turned to Izuku. The boy was hovering, his golden-green eyes locked onto the villains below, his jaw elongated into a raptor's beak. He looked less like a student and more like a gargoyle ready to rain death.

"Midoriya!" Aizawa shouted over the beating of Izuku's wings. "The roof!"

Izuku blinked, his predatory focus snapping to his teacher.

"You're a flyer, and this is a dome!" Aizawa pointed his capture scarf toward the massive steel rafters hundreds of feet above them. "Get to the apex! I need an eye in the sky! Find the scattered students and coordinate them! Do not engage in close combat unless absolutely necessary! You are our Airborne Command!"

Izuku felt a jolt of adrenaline. Aizawa was trusting him with the entire battlefield.

"Yes, Sensei!" Izuku roared, his voice echoing with a strange, guttural resonance.

Aizawa leaped past Kurogiri, diving down the stairs and into the fray, his capture scarf lashing out to obliterate three thugs instantly.

Izuku didn't hesitate. He pulled his wings tight and launched himself straight up like a surface-to-air missile.

The G-force of his acceleration compressed his spine, but his hollow bones absorbed the shock perfectly. In three seconds, he was three hundred feet in the air, soaring past the massive, shattered floodlights. He grabbed a thick steel rafter at the very top of the USJ dome, his diamond-hard talons gouging deep into the metal, anchoring himself perfectly upside down, like a massive, predatory bat.

He was at the absolute apex of the facility. The entire USJ was laid out beneath him like a glowing, terrifying chessboard.

His kinetic vision dialed in. The world seemed to slow down. He could see the individual ripples in the Shipwreck Zone’s lake. He could see the heat waves distorting the air in the Fire Zone.

Focus, Izuku told himself. Find them.

He scanned the Mountain Zone first. Through the jagged rocks, he saw a spark of electricity. Kaminari, Yaoyorozu, and Jiro were surrounded by a dozen thugs. Kaminari was panicking, swinging a sword wildly.

They need a warning. Kaminari’s Quirk is indiscriminate.

Izuku didn't have a radio that could reach them. But he had the wind.

He took a deep breath, vibrating the micro-scales on his throat and chest. He isolated a current of air, compressing it into a narrow, hyper-pressurized tube that stretched from his beak all the way down to the Mountain Zone, ending right next to Kaminari's ear.

"Kaminari!" Izuku’s voice shot down the wind tunnel, sounding as clear as if he were standing right next to the electric-blonde boy.

Down in the Mountain Zone, Kaminari yelped, nearly dropping his sword. "Midoriya?! Where are you?!"

"I'm in the ceiling rafters!" Izuku’s voice whispered urgently through the wind. "You're surrounded. Have Yaoyorozu create a massive insulation sheet for her and Jiro! Once they are covered, unleash your maximum wattage! The thugs have no grounding!"

Kaminari looked up at the ceiling, squinting, but he couldn't see Izuku in the shadows. But he heard the plan. "Momo! Jiro! Insulate yourselves! Now!"

Izuku didn't wait to watch the result. He shifted his gaze to the Landslide Zone.

Todoroki was there. Alone. He was calmly freezing villains solid, walking through the frostbitten terrain like a prince of ice. But Izuku’s hawk-eyes caught a glint of metal hiding behind a rock formation directly above Todoroki. A villain with a massive sniper rifle, taking aim at Todoroki’s blind spot.

"Todoroki! Above you, three o'clock!" Izuku’s wind-carried voice blasted into the heterochromatic boy's ear.

Todoroki didn't question it. Without looking, he swept his right arm up, generating a massive glacier that completely engulfed the rock formation, freezing the sniper solid before he could pull the trigger. Todoroki glanced up at the ceiling, offering a curt, respectful nod.

Good, Izuku thought. They’re holding their own. What about the plaza?

Izuku shifted his focus directly downward.

Aizawa was a demon. He was dancing through the horde of villains, erasing quirks with a blink, snapping bones with his capture scarf, and using martial arts to systematically dismantle Shigaraki’s army.

But there were too many. And Aizawa’s eyes were starting to droop. He was blinking more frequently.

He's pushing his limits. His Quirk gives him dry eye. Every time he blinks, the villains gain a fraction of a second.

Down in the plaza, Shigaraki watched Aizawa with a bored expression.

"You're cool, Eraserhead," Shigaraki rasped, scratching his neck furiously. "You really are. But your time limits are getting shorter. And you're completely ignoring the final boss."

Shigaraki pointed a pale, decaying finger forward. "Nomu. Break him."

The massive, bird-brained monstrosity standing next to Shigaraki suddenly vanished.

Izuku’s eyes went wide. Where did it go?!

It didn't teleport. It just moved with a speed that defied its massive, hulking frame. Izuku’s kinetic vision barely tracked the blur before the Nomu reappeared directly behind Aizawa.

"Sensei, behind you!" Izuku roared, sending a gust of wind down, but it was too late.

Before Aizawa could turn, the Nomu’s massive hand shot out, grabbing the Pro Hero by the face and slamming him face-first into the concrete pavement with the force of a meteor strike.

The sound of Aizawa’s skull cracking echoed through the plaza.

"NO!" Izuku screamed.

Down below, the Nomu lifted Aizawa by his arm, completely ignoring the teacher’s desperate attempt to erase its Quirk. The Nomu grabbed Aizawa's elbow and snapped it backward with a sickening crunch. Aizawa screamed in agony.

"You can erase Quirks," Shigaraki chuckled softly. "But you can't erase pure, raw, genetically engineered muscle. Nomu has Shock Absorption. You can't beat him with blunt force, Eraserhead. He's built to kill All Might."

Shigaraki’s words reached Izuku’s ears perfectly.

Built to kill All Might. Shock Absorption.

Izuku’s analytical mind fractured, overwhelmed by the sight of his teacher being brutally tortured. The strategist vanished. The AWACS commander was gone.

All that remained was the apex predator. And someone had just threatened its flock.

Izuku let go of the steel rafter.

He didn't glide down. He tucked his wings tightly against his back, pointing his head toward the plaza floor three hundred feet below, and engaged a hyper-pressurized wind thruster behind him.

He propelled himself downward faster than gravity alone could pull him.

300 feet.

200 feet.

The air in the USJ shrieked. A massive, spiraling cone of wind began to form around Izuku’s descending body. He was breaking the sound barrier indoors.

Down in the plaza, Shigaraki stopped scratching his neck. He looked up, his red eyes widening under the disembodied hand covering his face.

The air pressure in the entire facility dropped dramatically. The water in the shipwreck zone was pulled toward the center of the dome.

100 feet.

50 feet.

"Nomu, look up!" Shigaraki shrieked.

The Nomu slowly tilted its exposed brain toward the ceiling.

At exactly twenty feet above the concrete, Izuku flared his massive wings. The deceleration shockwave hit the plaza like a tactical nuke. Thugs were blown hundreds of feet away, slamming into the walls of the dome. Shigaraki was violently thrown backward, tumbling across the pavement.

But the Nomu stood its ground, its massive, shock-absorbing legs rooted to the floor. It raised its meaty arms to block whatever blunt-force impact was coming.

Shock absorption, Izuku thought, his golden eyes glowing with pure, unadulterated rage. Let's see you absorb this.

Izuku didn't punch. He didn't use a wind blast.

He swung his legs forward, extending his thick, scaly, three-toed pterosaur talons. The talons were compressed diamond, honed to a molecular edge, designed to rend the flesh of prehistoric beasts.

Izuku slammed feet-first into the Nomu.

SLIIIITCH!

The sound of tearing flesh was horrific.

The Nomu’s shock absorption worked perfectly against concussive force. But it was entirely useless against piercing damage.

Izuku’s massive talons sank deep into the Nomu’s broad shoulders, piercing straight through the engineered muscle, scraping against the collarbones, and bursting out the creature's back in an explosion of dark, thick blood.

The Nomu let out a distorted, gurgling shriek, dropping Aizawa to the floor.

"WHAT?!" Shigaraki screamed from the ground, staring in absolute disbelief as thick, black blood rained onto the concrete. "No! That’s impossible! Nomu is invincible!"

Izuku hovered just above the Nomu, his talons buried deep into the beast's flesh. He looked down at the creature, his elongated beak parting slightly, steam rising from his nostrils.

"It's just muscle," Izuku rasped, his voice dripping with deadly intent. "And meat tears."

The Nomu, lacking pain receptors, suddenly swung its massive fist upward, aiming to crush Izuku’s skull.

Izuku’s kinetic vision caught the punch. He leaned his upper body backward, letting the massive fist graze his beak. At the same time, Izuku tightened his grip, his talons locking around the Nomu’s shoulder blades like a vice.

This thing is too strong to fight on the ground, Izuku realized, feeling the sheer, terrifying torque of the Nomu’s muscles trying to rip itself free. Shigaraki said it was built to kill All Might. If it gets a clean hit on me, my hollow bones will shatter.

"I need to take away your leverage," Izuku snarled.

Izuku flapped his massive wings.

BOOM.

The first flap generated a massive updraft. The Nomu, weighing easily over four hundred pounds, didn't budge.

More, Izuku commanded his body.

He vibrated the micro-scales on his wings, creating a hyper-pressurized vacuum directly above him. He didn't just fly; he created a localized gravitational pull of wind.

BOOM!

The second flap lifted the Nomu’s massive feet off the ground. The creature let out a confused grunt, swinging its arms wildly, but finding absolutely no purchase in the empty air.

"Put him down!" Shigaraki shrieked, running forward. "Kurogiri! Warp the bird!"

Kurogiri manifested beneath them, opening a portal.

But Izuku was too fast. With a third, cataclysmic thrust of his wings, Izuku rocketed straight up into the air, dragging the thrashing, bleeding Nomu with him. The acceleration was so intense that the portal couldn't track them.

Fifty feet. One hundred feet. Two hundred feet.

The struggle in the air was titanic. The Nomu thrashed wildly, its massive fists beating against Izuku’s armored, scaly legs, threatening to shatter his femurs. Blood rained down on the plaza below in heavy droplets. Izuku's back screamed in agony, the sheer weight of the beast threatening to dislocate his shoulders and tear his wings from their sockets.

But Izuku didn't let go.

Higher, Izuku thought, his vision blurring slightly from the pain. I have to take it to the apex.

Below them, the doors to the USJ suddenly blasted completely off their hinges.

A massive, imposing figure stood in the doorway, stripped of his usual smile. He wore a crisp white shirt and yellow tie, his blue suit jacket discarded. Pure, terrifying steam radiated from his muscular frame.

"IT IS FINE NOW," All Might roared, his voice devoid of any warmth, promising absolute destruction. "I AM HERE!"

The remaining villains in the plaza froze, absolute terror gripping their hearts.

Shigaraki laughed maniacally. "You're finally here! Nomu! Kill him!"

Shigaraki looked around, suddenly realizing his ultimate weapon was missing. He looked up.

Three hundred feet above the plaza, nestled just below the glass dome of the ceiling, Izuku hovered, his wings beating furiously to maintain altitude while holding the writhing beast.

Izuku looked down. He saw All Might. Their eyes met across the massive expanse of the USJ.

Izuku didn't need a radio to communicate. He understood exactly what the Symbol of Peace needed.

"Take it!" Izuku roared.

Izuku violently ripped his talons out of the Nomu’s shoulders.

Without Izuku’s wind holding it up, gravity reclaimed the monstrosity. The 400-pound Nomu plummeted from the ceiling, free-falling toward the center of the plaza like a dark meteor.

All Might didn't hesitate. He crouched, the concrete around him instantly spider-webbing under the sheer pressure of his coiled muscles.

All Might launched himself into the air. He crossed the distance from the entrance to the center of the plaza in a microsecond, intercepting the falling Nomu one hundred feet in the air.

"CAROLINA..." All Might roared, crossing his arms in an X-shape.

The Nomu, flailing in mid-air, couldn't brace itself. It had no leverage. No ground to absorb the shock into.

"...SMASH!"

All Might’s double-chop struck the Nomu squarely in the chest.

The impact in mid-air resulted in a shockwave so powerful it generated a massive, visible ring of displaced air that shattered every remaining pane of glass in the USJ dome. The Nomu’s chest caved in with a sickening crunch. Unable to disperse the blunt force into the ground, the creature took the absolute maximum yield of All Might’s power directly into its internal organs.

The Nomu was blasted downward at supersonic speed, slamming into the plaza floor and cratering the concrete thirty feet deep. The creature bounced once, and then lay completely still, its limbs bent at horrific angles, utterly defeated.

All Might landed gracefully on the edge of the crater, steam rising from his fists. He locked eyes with Shigaraki, who was furiously scratching his neck, bleeding from his own fingernails.

"You... you cheated," Shigaraki stammered, staring at his broken toy. "He was supposed to have shock absorption! He was supposed to kill you! That damn bird ruined the game!"

"Your game is over, villain," All Might boomed, taking a step forward.

Before All Might could apprehend them, Kurogiri expanded violently, enveloping Shigaraki. "We must retreat, Tomura Shigaraki. The students are rallying, and Eraserhead is heavily injured but alive. We have failed today."

"I'll kill you next time, Symbol of Peace," Shigaraki hissed through the mist. "And I'll wring the neck of that overgrown pigeon!"

The warp gate collapsed, leaving nothing but the ruined plaza and the unconscious bodies of a hundred thugs.

High above, Izuku watched the villains disappear. The adrenaline that had been sustaining him abruptly vanished.

Pain, absolute and agonizing, flooded his system. His legs were heavily bruised from the Nomu's thrashing. His back muscles were torn. His hollow bones ached with a deep, vibrating pain.

He couldn't maintain his transformation.

Slowly, the massive leathery wings began to recede. The storm-gray hide faded into pale human skin. His beak retracted, his jaw popping painfully back into its normal, human shape.

Izuku Midoriya, completely human once more, was suddenly three hundred feet in the air with no wings to catch him.

He began to fall.

He didn't panic. He was too exhausted to panic. He closed his eyes, feeling the wind rush past his face. It was strangely peaceful after the chaos of the battle.

I did it, he thought, slipping out of consciousness. I protected them.

Suddenly, the rushing wind stopped.

Izuku opened his tired eyes. He was resting in massive, muscular arms.

All Might had leaped up, catching Izuku gently in mid-air, and was now coasting down toward the plaza floor.

"You did brilliantly, Young Midoriya," All Might whispered, his booming voice softened to a proud, fatherly murmur. "You kept a cool head, commanded your classmates, saved Aizawa, and set me up perfectly. You were the true Symbol of Peace today."

Izuku offered a weak, exhausted smile. "Just... doing my job, All Might."

As All Might landed in the plaza, the remaining students rushed forward. Todoroki, Kaminari, Uraraka, and the others had regrouped. They looked at the massive crater, the defeated Nomu, and the battered, bleeding form of their teacher being attended to by Thirteen.

They looked up at Izuku, who was bruised and exhausted in All Might’s arms.

None of them saw a terrifying monster anymore. None of them saw a villainous mutation.

They saw a hero who reigned supreme in the sky, watching over them all.

The two weeks following the Unforeseen Simulation Joint incident were a blur of police interviews, media circuses, and intensive training. For the students of Class 1-A, the brush with real, lethal villains had shattered any lingering illusions about the safety of their chosen profession. They had seen blood. They had seen their homeroom teacher broken.

And they had seen Izuku Midoriya hold off a nightmare.

Despite the trauma, the U.A. faculty made a controversial decision: the annual U.A. Sports Festival would proceed as scheduled. Principal Nezu argued that demonstrating the students' resilience was paramount to maintaining public trust. The security was quintupled, with Pro Heroes patrolling the perimeter, but the message was clear: U.A. would not cower.

In the locker room before the opening ceremony, the tension was thick enough to cut with a knife.

Izuku sat quietly on a bench, lacing up his specialized red athletic shoes. He wore the standard U.A. P.E. uniform, though his was modified with magnetic breakaway seams down the back and sleeves. He was deep in thought, running through atmospheric pressure calculations and adjusting his internal metronome. He knew that today, he wouldn't be fighting mindless robots or holding back against classmates in a confined hallway. Today, the entire country was watching.

"Midoriya."

Izuku looked up. Shoto Todoroki stood before him. The boy with half-white, half-red hair stared down with eyes as cold as the frost that sometimes clung to his right arm. The rest of the locker room fell completely silent. Even Bakugo stopped aggressively stretching to glare at the two heavyweights of the class.

"Todoroki," Izuku acknowledged, his tone polite but guarded. "Can I help you?"

"Looking at things objectively, I am stronger than you," Todoroki stated bluntly. It wasn't a boast; it was a clinical assessment. "However, at the USJ, you demonstrated a level of destructive capability and tactical awareness that All Might himself acknowledged. You are the obstacle to the top."

Izuku didn't flinch. He slowly stood up. Even without his quirk activated, Izuku’s posture had changed over the last two weeks. He carried himself with the quiet, assured stillness of a creature that knew exactly where it stood on the food chain.

"I have no intention of using my left side today," Todoroki continued, his voice tightening with suppressed anger. "I will win this tournament using only my ice. I will reject my father’s power, and I will defeat you to prove it."

Izuku stared at him for a long moment. He looked at Todoroki’s left side, sensing the latent, volcanic heat trapped beneath the skin.

"You're handicapping yourself out of spite?" Izuku asked, his voice dropping into a lower, slightly resonant timber.

Todoroki’s eyes narrowed. "It’s not spite. It’s a vow."

"It’s foolish," Izuku replied evenly, stepping past him toward the door. He paused, looking over his shoulder. The golden flecks in his green eyes caught the harsh fluorescent light. "The sky doesn't care about your family drama, Todoroki. Gravity doesn't care about your vows. If you don't use everything you have against me... the wind will break you."

Todoroki clenched his fists, the temperature in the room plummeting as frost crept up the lockers.

"HEY!" Bakugo roared, kicking a bench so hard it dented. "Don't you both dare ignore me! I don't give a crap about your family issues or your stupid bird-brain metaphors! I'm going to slaughter both of you!"

Izuku just sighed, pushing the locker room doors open. "Good luck to you both, then."

The roar of the crowd was a physical force. As Class 1-A walked out into the massive, sun-drenched stadium, thousands of voices merged into a deafening wall of sound. Confetti rained down from the sky. In the announcer's booth, Present Mic and Aizawa (wrapped entirely in mummy-like bandages) were already hyping up the audience.

Midnight, the R-Rated Hero, stood on a podium in the center of the field, cracking her whip to silence the crowd.

"The first event of the U.A. Sports Festival is a staple of our great institution!" Midnight announced, pointing to a massive digital screen. "The Obstacle Race! An eleven-kilometer gauntlet around the circumference of the stadium! Anything goes, as long as you remain on the course! Now, take your places at the starting gate!"

The starting gate was a narrow corridor, purposefully designed to create an immediate bottleneck.

Izuku took a position near the back of the pack. He saw Todoroki, Bakugo, and Iida crowding the very front, muscles tensed, ready to fight for the lead.

If I transform in there, I’ll crush half the general education students against the walls, Izuku thought, stretching his shoulders. I'll have to wait three seconds.

Above the gate, three green lights blinked on sequentially.

"START!" Present Mic roared.

The ensuing chaos was immediate. A hundred students surged forward into the corridor. Instantly, the temperature plummeted. Todoroki had unleashed a massive wave of ice, freezing the ground and trapping dozens of students by their feet in a bid to clear the path.

"A brilliant opening move by Todoroki Shoto!" Present Mic screamed.

Izuku stood at the starting line, entirely unbothered as the ice surged toward him.

He didn't need to fully transform. He activated the partial mutation in his calves and feet. His shoes tore open as thick, storm-gray talons dug deeply into the freezing earth. He morphed his forearms into the dense, three-foot feathered-leather pinions he had used in the apprehension test.

He crouched, waiting for the frontrunners to clear the tunnel.

One. Two. Three.

Izuku swept his pinion-arms backward and leapt.

BOOM.

A concussive shockwave of air blasted the remaining ice into powdered snow. Izuku shot out of the corridor like a cannonball, entirely bypassing the frozen students. He skimmed exactly ten feet above the ground, his talons tucked aerodynamic-ally beneath him.

"And Midoriya Izuku takes to the air!" Present Mic yelled. "Look at that speed! He's not even running!"

Izuku easily caught up to Todoroki and Bakugo, who were nearing the first obstacle: The Robo Inferno.

Dozens of Zero-Pointers and Two-Pointers from the entrance exam blocked the path. Todoroki didn't hesitate, freezing a Zero-Pointer while it was off-balance, causing it to crash down and block the path for everyone else behind him.

Izuku saw the falling robot. He didn't slow down. He didn't engage.

Why fight what you can fly over?

In a sickeningly fluid motion, Izuku’s pinions expanded. The bones lengthened with a sharp crack, his shirt tearing away at the seams as his massive, twenty-foot leathery wings erupted from his back. He caught a thermal updraft and shot two hundred feet into the sky in a matter of seconds, completely eclipsing the Robo Inferno.

The stadium screens projected his silhouette against the sun. The crowd went wild.

"He's flying right over them!" Aizawa muttered into his microphone. "A rational choice. Wasting energy on obstacles you can bypass is illogical."

Izuku cruised comfortably at three hundred feet. He looked down, watching Bakugo desperately blasting his way over the robots, screaming in fury at Izuku’s altitude.

The second obstacle, The Fall—a massive canyon filled with stone pillars connected by tightropes—was a joke to a boy who owned the sky. Izuku simply locked his wings and glided, completely bypassing the perilous drops, enjoying the cool breeze on his face. He even did a lazy barrel roll, eliciting a roar of approval from the Pro Heroes watching in the stands.

Then came the final obstacle: The Minefield.

A vast expanse of dirt laced with pressure-sensitive, pink-powder landmines.

Izuku slowed his flight, hovering above the edge of the minefield. I can't just fly over this at top speed, he realized. The downdraft from my wings will detonate the mines. If I trigger a chain reaction while I'm directly above them, the concussive force could blast shrapnel into my wings, or worse, blow up the students behind me.

He had to be precise.

He descended to exactly fifty feet above the ground, pulling his wings in slightly to reduce his wind footprint. He began to carefully navigate the airspace, using micro-vibrations in his scales to propel himself forward without pushing air downward.

It was a delicate, agonizingly slow process.

Below him, Bakugo and Todoroki caught up, running through the minefield, trading blows and explosions as they fought for the lead.

"Don't you ignore me, Deku!" Bakugo screamed, using an explosion to launch himself upward, trying to grab Izuku's leg.

Izuku calmly banked left, letting Bakugo’s momentum carry him back down to the dirt. "Focus on the path, Kacchan!" Izuku called back.

Suddenly, a massive explosion erupted near the back of the minefield. A huge cloud of pink smoke plumed into the air, and riding the shockwave of a massive pile of dug-up mines was Izuku’s classmate, the green-haired, quirkless-born (or so they thought) boy from Class B, or rather, Izuku Midoriya realized it was just himself in his own head. (Wait, let's correct the timeline: Izuku is the one with the Quirk here, replacing his canon self. So who causes the explosion? Let's give that moment of brilliance to someone else, like Hatsume Mei or Denki, but for this narrative, Izuku maintains the lead).

Todoroki and Bakugo were neck and neck, sprinting toward the finish line.

Izuku sighed. Time to end this.

He angled his body upward, aiming for the sky above the stadium entrance. He fully extended his wings, taking a deep breath of the thin air.

"Mach Strike!"

He folded his wings into a dive-bomb posture and plummeted toward the finish line, completely ignoring the minefield below. The sudden burst of speed created a sonic boom that echoed across the grounds. He blasted past Todoroki and Bakugo, the sheer wind pressure of his passing knocking them both off balance.

Izuku crossed the finish line a full three seconds before them, flaring his wings to brake, kicking up a massive cloud of dust as his talons tore into the stadium turf.

"AND HE'S DONE IT! MIDORIYA IZUKU TAKES FIRST PLACE WITHOUT EVEN BREAKING A SWEAT!" Present Mic screamed.

Izuku retracted his wings, his hide shifting back to human skin. He stood calmly as Todoroki and Bakugo crossed the line, both glaring at him with murderous intent.

Izuku had won the battle. But as Midnight announced the rules for the Cavalry Battle, he realized he had just lost the war.

"The point value assigned to the first-place winner is... TEN MILLION!" Midnight cracked her whip.

Every single pair of eyes in the stadium locked onto Izuku. The predatory gazes of a hundred students shifted.

Izuku swallowed hard. I'm not the predator anymore. I'm the prey.

"Time to form your teams! You have fifteen minutes!"

Izuku stood in the center of the field, practically feeling the heat of a target painted on his back.

Ten million points. I can't just fly away. The rules state a four-person formation. If I fully transform, I can't carry three people on my back—my wings are connected to my arms, so I wouldn't be able to hold them securely without crushing them or dropping them during a maneuver. I need a ground-based strategy that utilizes my wind.

"Midoriya!"

Izuku turned to see Uraraka running toward him, waving cheerfully. Next to her was Fumikage Tokoyami, the bird-headed boy whose Quirk, Dark Shadow, was a formidable defensive tool. And trailing behind them was a girl with dreadlocks and goggles, carrying an armful of metal contraptions—Mei Hatsume from the Support Course.

"You guys... you want to team up with me?" Izuku asked, genuinely surprised. "Everyone is going to be aiming for us."

"Of course we do!" Uraraka beamed. "It's better to team up with friends, right?"

"Those who stand at the top are destined to be targeted. It is a fate I am willing to share," Tokoyami said, crossing his arms.

"Plus, your ten million points means every camera in this stadium will be on us! It's the perfect chance to show off my super cute babies to the support companies!" Hatsume grinned, shoving a heavy jetpack into Izuku’s chest.

Izuku’s mind raced, rapidly processing their Quirks.

"Okay. I have a plan," Izuku said, his eyes gleaming with analytical fervor. "Hatsume, do you have hover-soles? Something that provides thrust but relies on the user's balance?"

"I have exactly that! My patent-pending Anti-Gravity Boots!" Hatsume pulled out a pair of heavy mechanical boots.

"Perfect. Uraraka, your Quirk removes gravity. Tokoyami, Dark Shadow has incredible reach and defensive capabilities. The rules state that the 'horse' cannot let their feet touch the ground, or the team is disqualified. But they never specified that the horse has to touch the ground."

Tokoyami narrowed his eyes. "You intend to take the formation airborne?"

"Not high enough to be illegal," Izuku smirked, a slightly predatory expression crossing his face. "Just high enough to be untouchable."

When the timer ran out, Team Midoriya took their positions. Izuku stood in the front, wearing Hatsume's boots. Uraraka and Hatsume flanked him, with Tokoyami taking the rear.

"Uraraka, make us light," Izuku commanded.

Uraraka touched all three of them, removing their gravitational pull. The entire formation suddenly felt weightless.

"Start!" Midnight yelled.

Immediately, Team Todoroki and Team Bakugo charged straight for them.

"Get back here, Deku!" Bakugo roared, blasting himself forward.

"Up!" Izuku shouted.

Izuku partially transformed his arms, turning them into massive, feathered pinions. He didn't flap them; instead, he vibrated his scales, generating a constant, hyper-pressurized downdraft underneath the formation. Combined with Uraraka's zero-gravity and the stabilizing thrust of Hatsume's boots, the entire four-person team smoothly lifted off the ground.

They didn't fly away. They hovered exactly six inches above the dirt.

Midnight watched from the podium, her eyes wide. She put a hand to her earpiece. "Is... is that legal?"

"Well, his feet aren't touching the ground, and he's supporting the team," Nezu's voice crackled cheerfully in her ear. "It’s a magnificent exploitation of the rules! I'll allow it!"

"Die!" Bakugo unleashed a massive explosion at Izuku's face.

Izuku didn't flinch. He simply angled his pinion-arms forward.

"Wind Wall."

He released a compressed burst of air. The invisible shield of wind collided with Bakugo’s explosion in mid-air, entirely deflecting the fire and concussive force upward. The resulting backdraft blew Bakugo backward, sending his team stumbling.

"Dark Shadow, keep them at bay!" Tokoyami ordered. The shadow monster erupted from his chest, swiping at any teams attempting to flank them.

For the next ten minutes, Izuku was a fortress.

Because they were hovering, there was zero friction. Izuku moved the formation like a hovercraft, effortlessly sliding sideways, backward, and forward, completely avoiding the lunges of their classmates. When Todoroki attempted to freeze them to the ground, Izuku simply increased the downdraft, hovering a foot higher, letting the ice wash harmlessly beneath his boots.

"He's completely neutralizing our attacks," Todoroki muttered, watching Izuku glide effortlessly over a trap set by Mineta. "He has full 360-degree mobility without friction."

Todoroki gritted his teeth, his left side sparking slightly, before he forced the flames down, summoning another wave of ice.

But Izuku's wind was absolute.

When the buzzer sounded, signaling the end of the Cavalry Battle, Team Midoriya touched down softly. Izuku still had the ten million point headband securely wrapped around his forehead.

The crowd erupted in applause. Izuku retracted his pinions, wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead.

He looked across the field. Todoroki was staring at him, his heterochromatic eyes burning with an intensity that promised violence. And Bakugo... Bakugo was practically frothing at the mouth.

The dogfight was inevitable.

The intermission provided a brief respite. Izuku sat in a quiet corner of the cafeteria, nursing a massive bowl of high-calorie katsudon to replenish the energy his Quirk burned.

Todoroki found him there.

"Midoriya. Walk with me."

Izuku followed the ice user to a secluded hallway beneath the stadium stands. The air here was cool and damp.

"Have you ever heard of Quirk Marriages?" Todoroki asked, skipping any pleasantries.

Izuku leaned against the concrete wall, his eyes narrowing. "They're illegal. Relics from the second generation, meant to selectively breed stronger Quirks."

Todoroki touched the red scar over his left eye. In a quiet, monotone voice, he told Izuku the story of Endeavor. The obsession with surpassing All Might. The purchase of Todoroki's mother. The relentless, abusive training. The boiling water that scarred his face.

"He created me for one purpose: to beat All Might. To be the masterpiece," Todoroki said, his breath visibly misting in the cold air. "But I will not be his tool. I will rise to the top and become a hero, but I will do it without ever using his fire. I will reject him completely."

Izuku listened in silence. His heart ached for Todoroki. The trauma was real, deep, and agonizing.

But Izuku’s perspective was fundamentally different. He had been born with a Quirk that terrorized people, a Quirk that broke windows and shattered bones just by existing. He had spent his whole life learning to accept the monster inside him and use it to protect.

"I'm sorry about your mother, Todoroki. Truly," Izuku said, his voice soft but unyielding. "What your father did is unforgivable."

Todoroki turned away. "Then you understand why I—"

"No, I don't," Izuku interrupted, his tone hardening.

Todoroki snapped his head back, glaring.

"You think your Quirk belongs to him?" Izuku pushed off the wall, stepping into Todoroki's space. The latent, predatory aura of the storm pterosaur bled into the hallway. "My Quirk makes me look like a villain. If I flap my wings too hard, I destroy buildings. People look at me and see a monster. But I didn't stop flying. I learned to control it. Because this power is mine."

Izuku pointed a finger directly at Todoroki's chest, right over his heart.

"Your fire isn't Endeavor's. It's yours, Todoroki. Every cell in your body is yours. If you step into that arena and hold back half of your power because you're throwing a teenage temper tantrum against your father... you are disrespecting everyone who trained to be here. You are disrespecting me."

Todoroki knocked Izuku’s hand away, the hallway walls freezing solid. "You know nothing about it."

"I know that if you fight me with half your strength, I will crush you in seconds," Izuku said coldly. "See you in the ring."

The early matches of the tournament passed in a blur. Izuku effortlessly blew Hitoshi Shinso out of bounds without exchanging a single word, relying entirely on the concussive force of his wings. Todoroki froze Hanta Sero in a glacier so massive it dwarfed the stadium, a clear display of his agitated emotional state. Bakugo brutally dismantled Uraraka, acknowledging her strength but leaving her unconscious.

Finally, the semi-finals arrived.

The stadium lights dimmed, and spotlights converged on the concrete fighting ring in the center of the arena.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!" Present Mic’s voice shook the foundations of the stadium. "THIS IS THE MATCH YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR! A CLASH OF TITANS! THE MASTER OF ICE, TODOROKI SHOTO, VERSUS THE KING OF THE SKY, MIDORIYA IZUKU!"

Izuku walked up the steps into the ring. He took a deep breath. The wind blowing through the open stadium felt alive. It whispered to him, waiting for his command.

Across the ring, Todoroki stood like a statue. The right half of his body was already encased in a thin layer of frost.

"Ready?" Midnight asked, raising her whip.

Izuku didn't answer. Instead, he threw his arms wide.

The transformation was explosive. With a sound like thunder, his bones cracked, elongating rapidly. The gray, micro-scaled hide ripped across his skin. His massive, twenty-foot leathery wings unfurled, instantly casting a colossal shadow over the ring. His jaw extended into a sharp, terrifying beak, and his eyes snapped into the golden, feral slits of an apex predator.

He didn't take to the sky. He stood firmly on the concrete, his thick talons gouging into the stone. He wanted Todoroki to see exactly what he was facing.

"BEGIN!" Midnight slashed her whip downward.

Todoroki didn't hold back. He slammed his right foot onto the ground.

"Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall!"

It wasn't a wave of ice. It was a cataclysm. A glacier the size of a skyscraper erupted from the ground, surging forward at supersonic speed, jagged spikes tearing through the air, threatening to impale and freeze Izuku in a microsecond. The temperature in the stadium plummeted below freezing instantly.

The crowd screamed in terror at the sheer scale of the attack.

Izuku didn't retreat.

He dug his talons deeper into the concrete, anchoring his lower body. He pulled his massive wings backward, drawing in thousands of cubic feet of air, hyper-compressing it against his chest.

He waited until the glacier was exactly ten feet away.

He snapped his wings forward with everything he had.

"Cretaceous Gale!"

The resulting blast of wind was not a push. It was a solid, invisible wall of kinetic energy traveling at Mach 1.

The wind collided with the glacier. For a fraction of a second, reality seemed to pause as two unstoppable forces met.

Then, the ice shattered.

It didn't just break; it exploded into millions of tiny, razor-sharp diamonds. The concussive shockwave of Izuku's gale ripped through the glacier, pulverizing hundreds of tons of ice into a massive cloud of freezing fog. The shockwave continued outward, blowing the debris away from Izuku and sending a hurricane-force gust into the stands, forcing the Pro Heroes to shield their eyes.

When the fog cleared, the stadium was dead silent.

Izuku stood exactly where he had started, a massive, V-shaped trench carved into the concrete behind him where the ice had completely bypassed him.

At the other end of the ring, Todoroki was panting, his right arm trembling violently, entirely covered in thick frost.

"Un... Unbelievable!" Present Mic stuttered. "Midoriya destroyed that massive glacier with a single flap of his wings!"

"Direct attacks won't work, Todoroki," Izuku’s voice boomed across the ring, guttural and resonant through his beak. "Your ice is strong, but it's brittle. Kinetic energy shatters it. What else do you have?"

Todoroki gritted his teeth. He's right. If I try to freeze him, he'll just blow it away. But I refuse to use my left side. I have to ground him.

Todoroki placed both hands on the floor. He didn't create a massive wall this time. He created a rapid, continuous stream of ice, aiming not for Izuku's body, but for his feet, trying to freeze his talons to the concrete.

Izuku scoffed. He pumped his wings once, lifting effortlessly off the ground, hovering thirty feet above the arena.

"You can't freeze the air, Todoroki," Izuku stated, preparing to dive.

But Todoroki was a genius. He looked at Izuku, hovering in the sky, and then he looked at his own left hand. The hand he had sworn not to use in combat.

I won't use it to burn him, Todoroki decided. I'll use it to manipulate the battlefield.

Todoroki suddenly ignited his left side. A massive pillar of fire erupted from his arm. But he didn't aim it at Izuku. He aimed it directly into the massive, pulverized remains of the ice glacier that littered the ring.

The extreme heat hit the extreme cold.

Izuku’s eyes widened. Thermodynamics!

The rapid heating of the freezing air created a violent, massive thermal updraft. The atmospheric pressure in the stadium completely inverted.

Suddenly, Izuku wasn't flying; he was being tossed in a washing machine.

Violent, chaotic micro-bursts of wind erupted everywhere. Updrafts and downdrafts collided in mid-air, creating invisible, tearing vortexes.

Izuku’s massive twenty-foot wingspan, usually his greatest asset, suddenly became a massive liability. The chaotic thermal winds caught the broad surface area of his wings, violently throwing him off balance. He spun wildly, fighting just to stay upright.

"Whoa!" Izuku grunted, aggressively flapping his left wing to correct a sudden downdraft that nearly slammed him into the concrete.

Below him, Todoroki was sprinting, alternating between firing blasts of ice and bursts of fire into the air, intentionally destroying the aerodynamic stability of the stadium.

"This is incredible!" Aizawa noted, leaning into his mic. "Midoriya relies on reading air currents. Todoroki is intentionally creating turbulent, chaotic weather to ground him! It's a literal dogfight against the atmosphere!"

Izuku fought through the turbulence. It was exhausting. Every adjustment required massive core strength. But through the struggle, a wide, predatory grin spread across his beak.

He's adapting. He's using his fire. But he's still holding back the actual flame.

"Is this all you've got?!" Izuku roared over the howling wind, folding his wings into a tight dart shape to cut through a violent updraft. He dropped rapidly, aiming a talon-strike at Todoroki.

Todoroki dodged, rolling across the ice-covered concrete, but Izuku’s wind shear clipped him, sending him skidding toward the boundary line.

Todoroki coughed, clutching his ribs. He was freezing. The frost was creeping up his neck, slowing his movements. He couldn't keep this up much longer.

Izuku hovered ten feet away, staring down at him.

"You're trembling, Todoroki," Izuku said, his voice piercing through the chaotic winds. "Quirks are physical abilities. There's a limit to how much cold your body can take. You're killing yourself just to prove a point to a man who isn't even in this ring."

Todoroki looked up at the stands. High above, Endeavor was watching, his arms crossed, a scowl on his face.

"Shut up," Todoroki whispered, tears of frustration freezing on his cheeks. "I... I will reject him."

"IT'S YOURS!" Izuku screamed, his voice shattering the silence of the stadium. "IT'S YOUR POWER, NOT HIS!"

The words hit Todoroki like a physical blow.

It's your power.

Memories flashed through Todoroki's mind. Not of Endeavor's abuse, but of his mother. Crying, holding him. You don't have to be a prisoner to your blood, Shoto. You can become who you want to be.

Todoroki looked at Izuku. He saw a boy who had transformed his body into a terrifying, monstrous shape, yet still stood firmly as a hero. A boy who had embraced every ounce of his dangerous power.

Suddenly, the frost on Todoroki’s right side melted.

A blistering, catastrophic heat erupted from his left side. The flames didn't just ignite; they roared, spiraling upward, illuminating the entire stadium in a brilliant, blinding orange light. The heat was so intense it instantly evaporated the remaining ice in the ring, turning the air into a suffocating sauna.

"YES! SHOTO!" Endeavor roared from the stands, bursting into flames himself. "HAVE YOU FINALLY ACCEPTED YOUR PURPOSE?!"

Todoroki ignored his father entirely. He looked up at Izuku, tears evaporating from his face, replaced by a fierce, liberated smile.

"You're crazy, Midoriya," Todoroki said, his voice echoing with newfound strength. "Pushing your opponent to use their full power in a tournament. What kind of hero does that?"

Izuku laughed. It was a booming, monstrous, joyous sound. "The kind that wants to win against the best!"

Izuku pumped his wings, rocketing straight up into the air. He ascended higher and higher, leaving the chaotic thermals behind, reaching the absolute apex of the stadium's open roof.

He hovered there for a moment, a silhouette against the sun.

He knew Todoroki was about to unleash an attack of unprecedented scale. An attack that couldn't be simply deflected or shattered.

I have to pierce it. I have to break through it with pure kinetic energy.

Izuku pulled his massive wings tightly against his body. He didn't just tuck them; he overlapped them, turning his entire body into a perfectly smooth, aerodynamic cone.

He initiated a freefall.

Gravity took hold. But gravity wasn't enough.

Izuku vibrated his scales, generating a hyper-pressurized vacuum directly in front of his beak, entirely removing air resistance from his path. He engaged the wind thrusters at his feet.

He was breaking the sound barrier in a vertical dive.

Below, Todoroki took a deep breath. The air around him distorted wildly. He brought his left arm back, accumulating all of the heat, all of the fire, all of the power he had denied for a decade.

"I'M COMING, MIDORIYA!" Todoroki roared.

"Flashfire Fist..."

Todoroki thrust his arm straight up.

"PROMINENCE BURN!"

A column of fire the size of a redwood tree erupted from Todoroki. It wasn't just a flame; it was a volcanic eruption, a beam of pure, incinerating heat that shot toward the heavens, promising to turn anything in its path to ash.

High above, Izuku saw the inferno rushing up to meet him.

He didn't pull away.

"Raptor's Drill!"

Izuku began to spin.

He utilized his wind manipulation to create a localized, spiraling tornado around his diving body. He wasn't just falling; he was a drill bit spinning at thousands of revolutions per minute, coated in a barrier of hyper-compressed, rotating wind.

He collided with the pillar of fire.

The impact was apocalyptic. The sky above the stadium ignited in a blinding flash of orange and green.

Izuku’s wind drill hit the flames and violently parted them. The hyper-compressed air created a vacuum tunnel right down the center of Todoroki’s fire, allowing Izuku to safely pass through the incinerating heat without burning.

The crowd screamed as the displaced fire rained down around the ring in a spectacular, harmless shower of sparks.

Todoroki looked up, his eyes widening in absolute shock.

Through the roaring flames, right down the center of his ultimate attack, Izuku Midoriya emerged, descending like a god of the sky.

Izuku snapped his wings open at the absolute last microsecond, halting his terminal velocity perfectly just inches above the ground. The deceleration shockwave extinguished the remaining fire in the ring instantly.

Before Todoroki could react, Izuku swung his right talon forward in a sweeping, blunt-force arc.

He struck Todoroki squarely in the chest, holding back his sharp claws, relying entirely on the immense kinetic force of the blow.

Todoroki was launched backward off his feet. He flew completely out of the ring, skipping across the grass like a stone on water, before finally coming to a halt against the stadium wall.

He lay there, staring up at the clear blue sky, gasping for breath, completely conscious but entirely devoid of energy.

A profound silence washed over the stadium. The smoke slowly cleared.

In the center of the ring, Izuku stood tall. His flight suit was scorched, his breathing was heavy, and steam poured from his beak and wings. But he was unbowed.

Midnight stood frozen for a long moment, before slowly raising her whip, pointing it at the winged boy.

"Todoroki is out of bounds!" Midnight announced, her voice trembling with sheer awe. "Midoriya advances to the finals!"

The stadium erupted. It was a roar that shook the earth. Pro Heroes, civilians, and students alike stood on their feet, screaming their lungs out. They had just witnessed a battle that surpassed most professional hero fights.

In the VIP box, the current Number Three Pro Hero, Hawks, leaned forward in his seat, his sharp golden eyes locked onto Izuku. A wide, predatory grin spread across his face. "Well, well, well. Looks like I finally found a chick worth taking under my wing."

Izuku slowly retracted his wings, his body aching in ways he didn't know were possible. The fight had drained him completely. He walked over to where Todoroki was sitting up against the wall.

Izuku offered a hand.

Todoroki looked at the hand, then up at Izuku’s face. He reached out and grasped it firmly. Izuku hauled him to his feet.

"Thank you, Midoriya," Todoroki said quietly, a faint, genuine smile touching his lips. "For opening my eyes."

"Anytime, Todoroki," Izuku smiled back.

Izuku went on to win the finals against Bakugo later that afternoon, utilizing a similar vertical-drop tactic to bypass Bakugo's localized explosions. But everyone in the stadium knew the true climax of the festival had been the battle of ice, fire, and wind.

As Izuku stood on the first-place podium, a gold medal draped around his neck by All Might, he looked up at the sky.

He had proven himself. He wasn't just a mutant with a destructive Quirk. He was the undisputed King of the Sky, and his reign had only just begun.
