What If Deku Had an Overpowered Acrocanthosaurus Quirk for Muscle-Packed Brawler Power
The world is not born equal.
That was the absolute, unyielding truth of society that most children learned by the time they were four years old. It was a lesson usually taught through the harmless spark of a newly manifested Quirk, the sudden levitation of a toy, or the elongation of a child’s fingers. In this superhuman society, where eighty percent of the global population possessed some sort of uncanny biological abnormality, the playground was the ultimate proving ground. It was a miniature ecosystem, a rehearsal for the grand stage of heroes and villains. In this ecosystem, the strong rose to the top, bathed in the adoration of their peers, while the weak were pushed into the dirt, stepping stones for the ambitious.
Izuku Midoriya, at four years old, understood this ecosystem intimately. He was a bright-eyed, bushy-haired boy with a heart too large for his small frame and an obsession with heroes that bordered on religious devotion. Chief among his idols was All Might, the Symbol of Peace, a colossus of muscle and charisma who saved people with a fearless, booming laugh. Izuku wanted nothing more than to be exactly like him. He waited with bated breath for the day his own Quirk would manifest, dreaming of pyrokinesis, telekinesis, or maybe even a strength enhancement. He wanted a power that would allow him to plant his feet, smile in the face of danger, and declare to the world that everything would be alright.
But as the days ticked by, Izuku remained painfully ordinary. His best friend—though the term was rapidly deteriorating into something much darker—Katsuki Bakugo, had not. Katsuki had awakened an Explosion Quirk. It was flashy, powerful, and inherently violent. It perfectly matched Katsuki’s volatile, aggressive personality. Almost overnight, Katsuki became the undisputed king of the neighborhood. And a king, by his very nature, required subjects to rule over.
It was a sweltering Tuesday afternoon in mid-July. The cicadas were screaming their rhythmic, deafening song from the canopy of the dense trees surrounding the local park. The air was thick and humid, sticking to the skin and making the children irritable. Izuku stood at the edge of the sandbox, his small hands balled into tight fists, his emerald eyes wide with a mixture of terror and unyielding resolve.
A few yards away, Katsuki stood with two of his sycophants. At Katsuki’s feet was another boy, a child Izuku barely knew, crying softly into his hands. His knee was scraped, blood welling up from the broken skin, and his shoulders shook with quiet sobs. Katsuki towered over him, small sparks popping and crackling in the palms of his hands like miniature firecrackers. The smell of burnt sugar and sulfur hung heavy in the stagnant summer air.
"You're in my way, extra," Katsuki sneered, his ruby-red eyes glinting with a vicious, childish cruelty. "If you can't even stand up to a little pop, you shouldn't be playing hero."
The lackeys snickered, their own minor Quirks flexing in an attempt to mimic their leader's intimidation. The crying boy shrank back, trying to make himself as small as possible.
Izuku’s heart hammered against his ribs like a trapped bird. Every instinct of self-preservation screamed at him to stay back. Katsuki was dangerous. Katsuki was strong. Izuku was just… Izuku. He had no flashy power to protect himself. He was entirely defenseless. Yet, as he watched the tears stream down the boy's face, an entirely different instinct overrode his fear. It was an instinct older than Quirks, older than society itself. It was the fundamental drive to protect the weak.
Before his conscious mind could process the decision, his green sneakers were moving. He threw himself between Katsuki and the weeping child, throwing his arms out wide in a protective, trembling barricade.
"T-That's enough, Kacchan!" Izuku’s voice cracked, a high-pitched squeak of defiance. Tears pricked the corners of his eyes, blurring his vision, but he didn't lower his arms. "Can't you see he's crying? If you keep going... I-I'll stop you myself!"
Silence descended upon the playground, save for the relentless drone of the cicadas. Katsuki blinked, genuinely taken aback for a fraction of a second. Then, a dark, menacing grin stretched across his face. He slammed a fist into his open palm, creating a sharp, echoing CRACK of an explosion. Smoke wafted from his knuckles.
"You?" Katsuki scoffed, taking a step forward. The lackeys mirrored his movement, closing in like a pack of wolves. "You don't even have a Quirk yet, Deku. You're completely useless. You think you can play hero without power?"
Izuku’s knees knocked together. His breathing grew shallow and ragged. He was terrified. He closed his eyes tightly, bracing for the inevitable pain, waiting for the burning heat of Katsuki’s palms to strike his chest.
Katsuki lunged, his right hand pulled back, a fierce, concentrated explosion brewing in his palm. “Die!” the blonde boy yelled, a word he had picked up from television and used with reckless abandon.
The explosive blast surged forward. But it never connected with frail human flesh.
Deep within Izuku’s genetic code, a dormant, prehistoric sequence was violently awakened by the spike of absolute terror and the overwhelming surge of adrenaline. The human body is designed to adapt to stress. But Izuku’s body did not just adapt; it underwent a cataclysmic, instantaneous evolution. The Quirk factor, lying asleep in his DNA for four years, ignited like a nuclear reactor.
Time seemed to dilate. To Izuku, the world slowed to a crawl. He felt a sudden, agonizing heat radiating from the very center of his chest, spreading outward through his veins like liquid magma. His heart gave one massive, shuddering thump that echoed in his own ears, followed by a rapid, thunderous staccato rhythm that sounded like war drums.
Then came the pain—a tearing, shifting agony as his very skeletal structure rapidly rewrote itself.
Izuku’s eyes snapped open. The emerald irises had narrowed into vertical, reptilian slits. The whites of his eyes bled into a deep, predatory amber. A guttural, wet sound tore from his throat, completely unlike the squeak of a frightened four-year-old. It sounded like stones grinding together underwater.
As Katsuki’s palm came within inches of Izuku’s face, Izuku’s skin erupted.
Vibrant, emerald-green scales, edged in an obsidian black, shattered through his pale epidermis. The scales were thick, overlapping like medieval plate armor, shimmering with an impenetrable luster. His forearms bulged, the sleeves of his blue t-shirt ripping to shreds as hyper-dense, terrifyingly thick muscle mass packed itself onto his suddenly elongating bones. His small, stubby fingers cracked and stretched, ending in jet-black, razor-sharp talons that glinted in the afternoon sun.
But the most drastic and horrifying transformation was occurring along his spine. With a sickening series of pops and crunches that made the other children freeze in horror, the vertebrae in Izuku's back violently extended outward. Massive, thick ridges of bone tore through the back of his shirt, jutting into the air. Muscle and thick, scaly hide rapidly grew over the bone, forming a massive, pronounced dorsal ridge—a terrifying sail of pure, hyper-reactive muscle that started at the base of his neck and ran all the way down his back.
From the base of his spine, a heavy, muscular tail whipped outward, shredding his shorts and slamming against the dirt with enough force to kick up a cloud of dust. Izuku was no longer standing at three-and-a-half feet tall. In a matter of seconds, his body had expanded, bulking out into a hulking, hunched, five-foot-tall hybrid of a boy and an apex prehistoric predator: an Acrocanthosaurus.
The heat of Katsuki’s explosion finally struck.
Flames washed over Izuku’s face and chest. The blast was meant to scorch and throw the frail boy backward. Instead, the fire completely dissipated against Izuku’s scaled chest, barely leaving a smudge of soot on the impenetrable armor. Izuku didn't flinch. He didn't blink. He didn't move a single inch backward. He was rooted to the earth, immovable.
The smoke slowly cleared, carried away by a gentle summer breeze.
Katsuki stood frozen, his hand still outstretched, the confident, sadistic grin melting completely off his face. His ruby eyes were wide with a terror so profound it seemed to hollow out his soul. He wasn't looking at "Deku." He was staring directly into the golden, slit-pupiled eyes of a monster.
Izuku’s jaw had elongated, filled with rows of serrated, conical teeth designed for tearing flesh. Steam hissed from his nostrils, a byproduct of his rapidly overheating, monstrous metabolism. The massive dorsal ridge on his back seemed to pulse, the thick veins running along it glowing with a faint, bio-luminescent green energy as the sheer mass of muscle anchored to his spine tightened.
The silence in the park was absolute. Even the cicadas seemed to have stopped their chirping, terrified by the sudden presence of a supreme apex predator in their territory.
Izuku didn't know what was happening to him. His conscious mind was drowning in a sea of raw, primal instinct. A cacophony of new senses assaulted him. He could smell the sulfur from Katsuki’s sweat. He could hear the rapid, terrified heartbeats of the children around him. He felt an overwhelming, suffocating surge of power flowing through his newly formed musculature, begging to be released. The defensive instinct to protect the crying boy behind him warped into an aggressive, territorial fury.
He had to eliminate the threat. He had to crush the aggressor.
A deep, rumbling vibration started in Izuku's chest, echoing through his massive chest cavity before erupting from his maw. It wasn't a yell. It wasn't a scream.
It was a roar.
The sound was apocalyptic. A deafening, concussive wave of acoustic force tore through the park. It was a primordial, unearthly bellow that rattled the windows of nearby houses and sent flocks of birds scattering from the trees in panicked flight. The sheer volume and frequency of the roar caused Katsuki and his lackeys to instantly clap their hands over their ears, dropping to their knees in sheer agony as the sound waves vibrated in their teeth.
Izuku took a step forward. The ground trembled beneath his heavy, clawed foot. He didn't want to hurt Kacchan, a tiny, distant voice in the back of his mind screamed. But the beast was in control. The hyper-reactive muscles in his arms twitched. He raised a massive, clawed hand, intending to simply push Katsuki away.
As he shifted his weight, his heavy, prehensile tail swept behind him for balance. He had no spatial awareness of his new appendage. The thick, muscular tail, acting as a counterbalance to his heavy upper body, whipped around with the speed and force of a wrecking ball.
CRA-KOOOM!
The tail struck the six-foot-tall solid brick wall that bordered the northern edge of the park. It didn't just crack the wall; it completely obliterated it. A ten-foot section of mortar and red brick exploded outward as if struck by an artillery shell. Shrapnel rained down on the grass, a cloud of thick, red dust billowing into the air. The sheer kinetic force of the accidental strike was unfathomable.
Katsuki, trembling on the ground, slowly lowered his hands from his ears and turned his head to look at the massive crater in the wall. He stared at the pulverized bricks, then slowly turned his terrified gaze back to the hulking, scaly beast looming over him.
The insurmountable mountain had been established. In that single fraction of a second, the hierarchy of their childhood was violently, permanently shattered. Bakugo Katsuki, the king of the playground, realized with absolute certainty that he was nothing more than prey. If that tail had hit him instead of the wall, he wouldn't exist anymore. The explosive blonde boy scrambled backward in the dirt, tears of genuine, unfiltered panic welling in his eyes.
"M-Monster..." one of the lackeys whimpered, before scrambling to his feet and sprinting away, screaming for his mother. The other followed suit instantly.
Even the boy Izuku had stepped in to protect took one look at the towering reptilian hybrid and bolted in the opposite direction, crying harder than before.
Izuku stood alone amidst the swirling red brick dust. He looked down at his massive, clawed hands. The golden hue in his eyes flickered, the vertical slits expanding back into round pupils. The human consciousness of Izuku Midoriya was desperately clawing its way back to the surface.
He saw Katsuki trembling in the dirt, looking at him as if he were a demon crawled from the depths of hell. He saw the pulverized brick wall. He registered the sheer, catastrophic destruction he had caused with a mere twitch of his body.
I... I did this? Izuku thought, panic setting in. Kacchan is scared of me. I scared everyone.
Suddenly, the adrenaline that had fueled his spontaneous evolution evaporated. The biological cost of sustaining such a massive, hyper-dense cellular transformation hit him like a freight train. His Quirk, an unparalleled mutant-class transformation, required an astronomical amount of caloric energy to maintain the sheer density of the muscle packed around his dorsal ridge. With his four-year-old body possessing zero fat reserves to burn, the Quirk immediately cannibalized whatever energy it could find, plunging his body into instantaneous, severe starvation.
A wave of dizzying, agonizing weakness washed over him. The vibrant green scales rapidly receded, sinking back beneath pale skin. The massive dorsal ridge shrunk, the bones cracking and popping as they forcefully rearranged themselves back into a normal human spine. His tail retracted, dissolving back into his coccyx. The claws shortened into blunt fingernails.
Within seconds, the terrifying apex predator was gone, leaving behind a small, naked, incredibly frail-looking four-year-old boy in the center of the sandbox. Izuku groaned, his stomach cramping with a hunger so intense it felt like a physical knife twisting in his gut. His vision swam, black spots dancing across his eyes.
He looked one last time at Katsuki, who was still frozen on the ground, his eyes wide. Izuku wanted to reach out, to apologize, to tell him that he didn't mean to be scary. But his body had nothing left to give. His eyes rolled back in his head, and Izuku Midoriya collapsed face-first into the dirt, unconscious.
The smell of sterile alcohol and bleached linens dragged Izuku from the dark, warm void. He groaned, a dry, raspy sound escaping his lips. His eyelids felt as heavy as lead, but he managed to force them open, squinting against the harsh, fluorescent lights of a hospital room.
"Izuku! Oh, my baby!"
Before he could fully process his surroundings, a blurry figure lunged forward. Warm arms wrapped around him, pulling him into a desperate, crushing hug. It was his mother, Inko Midoriya. Her cheeks were stained with tears, her green hair disheveled, and she was trembling violently.
"Mom...?" Izuku mumbled, his voice weak.
Instantly, his stomach let out a monstrous, cavernous growl. The hunger was unbearable. It felt as though he hadn't eaten in months.
"Doctor! He's awake!" Inko called out, gently laying Izuku back against the pillows. She hurriedly grabbed a small plastic cup of water and held it to his lips. "Drink slowly, sweetie. You're in the hospital. The park... someone called the heroes when they heard the noise. I was so terrified."
A tall, balding man in a white lab coat entered the room. He carried a tablet and had a remarkably calm demeanor, though the way he looked at Izuku held a mixture of scientific fascination and underlying caution.
"Good evening, Mrs. Midoriya. Ah, young Izuku, you're back with us," the doctor said, offering a polite smile. "First things first, let's get some food in him. His blood sugar levels dropped to a near-fatal state."
Within minutes, the hospital staff wheeled in a large cart laden with food. Usually, a patient coming out of exhaustion was given broth or crackers. But the doctor had ordered high-calorie, nutrient-dense meals. There were plates of thick tonkatsu, bowls of rice, steamed vegetables, and protein shakes.
Izuku didn't wait for permission. The primal urge to consume overrode his usual polite manners. He tore into the food with a terrifying ferocity, stuffing rice and meat into his mouth with both hands. He didn't chew; he practically swallowed the food whole, his jaws working in a rapid, almost mechanical rhythm. Inko watched, horrified but relieved, as her tiny son consumed enough food to feed three grown men in the span of ten minutes.
Once the cart was entirely empty, Izuku slumped back against the pillows, letting out a long, contented sigh. The gnawing agony in his stomach had finally subsided, replaced by a warm, heavy lethargy.
"Better?" the doctor asked, pulling up a chair beside the bed.
Izuku nodded slowly, wiping grease from his chin with the back of his hand.
"Good. Now, Mrs. Midoriya, Izuku... we need to discuss what happened today," the doctor said, his tone turning serious. He tapped the screen of his tablet, pulling up a series of X-rays and genetic charts. "We've run extensive tests while Izuku was unconscious. It is safe to say that his Quirk has officially manifested."
Inko gasped, bringing her hands to her mouth. "A Quirk? But... the people at the park... they said a villain attacked. They said a giant dinosaur destroyed the wall."
The doctor sighed, adjusting his glasses. "There was no villain, Mrs. Midoriya. That 'dinosaur' was your son."
Izuku shrank down into his blankets. The memories of the park rushed back. The scales. The roar. The terrifying look on Kacchan's face. The shattered brick wall. He had done that. He was the monster.
"Izuku possesses a Mutant-Transformation class Quirk," the doctor explained, turning the tablet so Inko could see. It displayed a rendering of Izuku's skeletal structure, but it looked twisted, featuring the massive elongated vertebrae Izuku had felt during his transformation. "It is an incredibly rare, hyper-dominant mutation. Based on our genetic analysis, his Quirk allows him to partially or entirely transform his physiology into that of an Acrocanthosaurus—a large, predatory theropod dinosaur."
"A dinosaur?" Inko whispered. "But neither my husband nor I have animal Quirks. I can pull small objects, and Hisashi breathes fire."
"Quirks are complex, Mrs. Midoriya. Sometimes, generations of latent genetic material pool together to create something entirely new and devastatingly powerful," the doctor continued, his eyes gleaming with a clinical intensity. "But Izuku's Quirk isn't just about turning into a reptile. It's the unique biology of the Acrocanthosaurus that makes this Quirk... overpowering."
He pointed to the spines on the X-ray. "This dinosaur is famous for the massive dorsal ridge running down its back. In Izuku's case, when he transforms, this ridge acts as a biological anchor. It allows his body to generate, pack, and sustain an impossibly dense amount of hyper-reactive muscle mass. Simply put, his body becomes an engine of pure, unadulterated kinetic force. The muscular density is so extreme that his scales become essentially bulletproof to compensate for the internal pressure. His physical strength, even as a four-year-old, is off the charts. When he destroyed that brick wall? He didn't even use his muscles actively. That was just the passive kinetic weight of his tail swinging."
Inko looked at her son, her eyes wide. Izuku looked so small, so innocent. To hear a medical professional describe him as a weapon of mass destruction was jarring.
"Are there... side effects?" Inko asked, her voice trembling.
"Two major ones," the doctor nodded gravely. "First is the caloric demand. Generating and moving that much dense muscle requires an astronomical amount of energy. If he transforms without having sufficient calories in his system, his body will cannibalize itself, leading to severe starvation and immediate unconsciousness, as we saw today. He will need a highly specialized, massive diet moving forward."
The doctor paused, looking directly at Izuku. "The second side effect is psychological. The theropod brain is ancient. It operates on primal instincts: dominance, territory, hunting, and aggression. When Izuku transforms, he will be fighting a constant battle between his human consciousness and the feral instincts of an apex predator. If he loses control, the beast takes over. And given his physical specs... a rampage would be catastrophic."
The room fell deadly silent. The weight of the diagnosis settled heavily on Izuku's small shoulders. He wasn't a hero. He didn't have a power that made people smile. He had a power that destroyed walls by accident. He had a power that terrified his friends. He had the power of a villain.
"Thank you, Doctor," Inko whispered, her voice tight.
The doctor nodded, standing up. "We'll keep him overnight for observation. I suggest you start looking into specialized training regimes. A Quirk like this requires absolute discipline." He bowed and quietly left the room.
For a long time, neither Izuku nor his mother spoke. The silence was suffocating. Izuku slowly pulled his knees up to his chest, wrapping his arms around them. He stared blankly at the white hospital sheets.
"Mom?" he whispered, his voice cracking.
"Yes, Izuku?" she replied softly, moving to sit on the edge of his bed.
"Am I... am I a monster?"
The question hung in the air, fragile and heartbreaking. Tears welled up in Izuku's large emerald eyes, spilling over his freckled cheeks. "Kacchan looked at me like I was a monster. The other kids ran away crying. I didn't mean to break the wall. I just wanted to protect that boy. But my body... it got big, and scary, and I couldn't control it. Heroes aren't scary, Mom. All Might isn't scary. He smiles, and everyone feels safe. I made everyone feel afraid."
He buried his face in his knees, his small shoulders shaking as he broke down into violent, choked sobs. The dream he had held onto so tightly felt like it was slipping through his fingers, crushed by the weight of his own terrifying biology.
Inko Midoriya watched her son cry, her heart shattering into a million pieces. In the past, if Izuku had been Quirkless, she might have broken down with him. She might have apologized, begging for his forgiveness for giving birth to him without power. But this was different. Her son had power—terrifying, overwhelming power. He didn't need an apology. He needed an anchor.
Inko reached out, her hands firm and steady, and grabbed Izuku's shoulders. She gently but forcefully pulled him out of his curled-up position, forcing him to look at her. Her own tears were gone, replaced by a fierce, maternal fire.
"Izuku, look at me," she said, her voice unusually commanding.
Izuku sniffled, his green eyes wide and watery as he met his mother's gaze.
"You are not a monster," Inko said, enunciating every word with absolute certainty. "Do you hear me? You are a kind, brave, wonderful boy. You stepped in to protect someone when no one else would. That is what heroes do."
"But... but I look like a villain!" Izuku cried. "I'm a dinosaur! I destroy things!"
"A Quirk is just a tool, Izuku!" Inko countered, her voice rising with passion. "It's like a hammer. A hammer can be used to break a window, but it can also be used to build a house. Your Quirk is big, and it's scary, and it's powerful. Yes. But it is yours. You decide how to use it."
She reached up, cupping his tear-stained cheeks in her soft hands. "If your Quirk makes people afraid, then you just have to smile twice as bright. If your body is built to destroy, then you must train your mind to protect. You have a mountain to climb, Izuku. It won't be easy. You have a beast inside you now. But I know my son. I know your heart. You will not let the beast rule you. You will master it."
Izuku stared at his mother, her words washing over him like cool water on a severe burn. He thought about All Might. All Might was massive. All Might had the power to change the weather with a single punch. That kind of power could easily be terrifying. But it wasn't, because of the man wielding it. It was the smile, the control, the unyielding desire to protect, that made All Might a hero, not just his raw strength.
Izuku slowly wiped the tears from his eyes with his forearm. A new spark, something fierce and determined, ignited deep within his emerald irises. The despair was slowly being replaced by resolve.
"I have to control it," Izuku whispered, more to himself than to his mother.
"Yes," Inko smiled, pressing a kiss to his forehead. "And I will help you every step of the way."
Right then and there, in that sterile hospital room, four-year-old Izuku Midoriya made a silent vow. He would not be the monster the world saw him as. He would not let the primal rage of the Acrocanthosaurus dictate his actions. He would forge his body into an unbreakable shield and his mind into an immovable fortress. He would become a hero who saves with a smile, proving that even a beast born of violence could become the ultimate symbol of peace.
Ten Years Later.
The alarm clock buzzed aggressively at 4:30 AM. A massive, calloused hand shot out from beneath the thick blankets and slammed down on the snooze button with enough suppressed force to crack the plastic casing.
Fourteen-year-old Izuku Midoriya sat up in bed, stretching his arms above his head. As he did, the joints in his shoulders popped like gunfire. He let out a deep, rumbling yawn that exposed slightly sharper-than-average canine teeth.
The boy sitting on the edge of the bed looked nothing like the frail, scrawny child from a decade ago. Izuku was an absolute unit of a teenager. He stood at an imposing five-foot-ten, but it wasn't his height that drew attention; it was his sheer mass. He was built like a heavily armored tank. His shoulders were incredibly broad, his chest deep and barrel-like. Beneath his skin, hyper-dense muscle fibers coiled like steel cables.
But the most defining feature was his back. Even in his fully human, resting state, Izuku was not entirely normal. Running down his spine, visible beneath the skin, was a pronounced, muscular ridge. It wasn't the massive, terrifying sail of his fully transformed state, but a permanent, thick protrusion of muscle and bone that forced him to walk with a perfectly straight, slightly forward-leaning posture. Because of this, he had to get all his clothing custom-tailored, his school shirts altered to accommodate the bulk of his dorsal ridge.
Izuku stood up, moving with a deliberate, heavy grace. He padded over to his full-length mirror and looked at his reflection. He flexed his back, and the dorsal muscles shifted, thick veins pulsing momentarily beneath the skin.
Control, he reminded himself, taking a deep, centering breath. Always control.
He moved to the kitchen, where the true daily battle began. Managing his Quirk meant managing his metabolism. On the counter sat three massive bento boxes, each the size of a small briefcase, prepared lovingly by his mother the night before. They were packed to the brim with tightly rolled rice, pounds of grilled chicken, thick cuts of beef, and boiled eggs. Izuku consumed upwards of twelve thousand calories a day just to maintain his human form and keep the beast fed. If he ever intended to transform, he needed to eat even more.
He quickly consumed an entire loaf of bread smeared with peanut butter, washing it down with a liter of protein-infused milk, just to tide him over before his morning workout.
Izuku’s training regime was brutal, designed not to build muscle—his Quirk handled that passively—but to teach him restraint, balance, and technique. He didn't just want to be a mindless brawler who swung his fists wildly. If he was going to use a Quirk that hit like a wrecking ball, he needed the precision of a sniper to ensure he didn't accidentally kill anyone.
He spent two hours at the local dojo, long before the sun rose. He practiced traditional martial arts, focusing heavily on grappling, Judo, and MMA-style takedowns. He practiced shifting his center of gravity, simulating the immense weight of his tail so he wouldn't be thrown off balance when he transformed. He hit the heavy bags, constantly calculating his output. Ten percent. Fifteen percent. Never more than twenty without scales.
He was forging himself into the ultimate brawler, a close-quarters powerhouse who used overwhelming physical dominance combined with surgical martial discipline.
By the time the sun was fully up, Izuku was walking to Aldera Junior High, dressed in his black, custom-fitted gakuran uniform. As he walked through the school gates, the sea of students naturally parted for him.
He wasn't bullied. No one dared. The social hierarchy of Aldera was clear, and Izuku sat firmly at an untouchable apex. He wasn't loud or aggressive; in fact, he was notoriously polite, soft-spoken, and helpful. He carried dropped books, helped teachers move heavy desks with one hand, and always smiled. But there was an underlying, undeniable aura of primal power that radiated from him. He was a sleeping dragon, and everyone knew better than to wake it.
As Izuku walked into his classroom, his eyes briefly locked with Katsuki Bakugo.
Bakugo was leaning back in his chair, his feet resting on his desk. He still had the explosive Quirk, the fiery temper, and the arrogant sneer. He still ruled over the other students with an iron fist. But when his red eyes met Izuku's calm, emerald gaze, Bakugo’s jaw tightened, and he slowly, deliberately lowered his feet from the desk, shifting his gaze out the window.
Their dynamic had fundamentally changed ten years ago. There was no bullying, no name-calling, no physical altercations. Bakugo possessed an immense ego, but he was also highly intelligent. He knew exactly what Izuku was capable of. He remembered the shattered brick wall. He remembered the roar that shook his bones. Bakugo viewed Izuku not as a weakling to be crushed, but as the ultimate, frustrating, terrifying obstacle in his path to becoming the number one hero. It was a cold, tense rivalry built on a foundation of unspoken fear and mutual respect.
Izuku took his seat, carefully adjusting his posture to accommodate his dorsal ridge against the wooden chair. He pulled out his notebook, labeled Hero Analysis for the Future Vol. 13.
He was fourteen years old. The U.A. High School entrance exams were ten months away.
Izuku clenched his massive hand into a fist, feeling the immense, coiled power resting just beneath his skin, the ancient beast sleeping quietly in his DNA. He had spent a decade building his cage, mastering his mind, and feeding the monster.
He was ready. The world of heroes was not prepared for the apex predator that was about to enter its ranks.
The air at Dagobah Municipal Beach Park tasted of salt, rust, and the metallic tang of decaying machinery. For years, the ocean currents had treated this stretch of coastline as a dumping ground, but the local populace had done the rest, piling mountains of broken appliances, stripped car chassis, and twisted industrial scrap onto the once-pristine sand. It was a monument to societal neglect.
For a fourteen-year-old Izuku Midoriya, however, it was the perfect gymnasium.
The sun had not yet crested the horizon, casting the beach in a cool, bruised purple twilight. The rhythmic crashing of the waves was accompanied by a sound entirely unnatural to the coastline: the agonizing, high-pitched shriek of tearing steel.
Izuku stood amidst a clearing he had carved out in the center of the trash mountains. He was stripped to the waist, wearing only thick canvas cargo pants and reinforced steel-toed boots. Sweat slicked his skin, catching the dim morning light. Even relaxed, his physique was staggering, an anatomical marvel that seemed to defy the limits of a human teenager. His chest and shoulders were slabs of dense, corded muscle, but the true focal point of his biology was his back.
The dorsal ridge—a thick, permanent protrusion of bone, sinew, and muscle running from the base of his neck down to his tailbone—pulsed rhythmically. It was his biological anchor, the core engine of his terrifying Quirk.
Before him sat the rusted, hollowed-out frame of a 1990s sedan. Most people who wanted to clean the beach would try to drag it away, perhaps cut it into smaller pieces. Izuku’s methodology was fundamentally different. He was not here just to clean; he was here to master the beast.
Izuku took a deep breath, the air rushing into his massive lungs. He closed his eyes, centering his mind, erecting the mental barriers that kept the feral instincts of the Acrocanthosaurus at bay. Control. Precision. Output at exactly fifteen percent.
He stepped forward, planting his feet deep into the sand. He reached out, his large hands gripping the rusted steel roof of the car. His fingers dug into the metal as if it were wet clay, leaving deep, permanent indentations.
With a low, rumbling exhale, Izuku engaged his dorsal muscles.
The sheer amount of kinetic energy generated by the ridge along his spine was catastrophic. Thick veins bulged across his back and shoulders, glowing faintly with a bio-luminescent emerald hue beneath his skin. Izuku didn't lift the car; he compressed it.
He drove his body weight forward, his arms acting as hydraulic presses. The steel frame groaned, then shrieked, folding inward. Izuku shifted his grip, moving with the disciplined, calculated movements of a seasoned grappler. He wrapped his arms around the buckled chassis, locked his hands together, and squeezed.
CRUNCH.
The car folded in half, glass shattering into dust, metal fusing together under the sheer, unadulterated pressure of Izuku's bear hug. He hoisted the crumpled ball of steel over his head, the muscles in his back straining, his dorsal ridge hot to the touch. With a grunt, he hurled the compacted cube of metal thirty yards away, where it landed perfectly atop a neatly stacked pile of similar scrap cubes.
Izuku let out a long breath, a plume of steam escaping his lips into the cool morning air. The internal temperature of his body ran incredibly hot when he tapped into his Quirk's reserves.
"Not bad," he muttered to himself, grabbing a towel to wipe his face. "Fifteen percent output. The structural integrity of the steel gave way exactly as calculated. The dorsal strain is minimal."
He turned toward his next apparatus. Two massive construction girders were driven deep into the sand, with a thick steel pipe welded horizontally between them. Hanging from Izuku's waist by a thick, heavy-duty logging chain were three discarded refrigerators, tied together into a makeshift weight block. Combined, they weighed roughly a thousand pounds.
Izuku jumped up, grabbing the steel bar. His muscles rippled as he began doing pull-ups. He didn't rush. Each movement was agonizingly slow and controlled. One. Down. Two. Down. He was training the specific fast-twitch fibers anchoring his dorsal ridge, ensuring that when he had to fight, his body wouldn't tear itself apart from its own generated force.
As he trained, his mind wandered to the U.A. High School entrance exams, now only ten months away.
U.A. was the pinnacle of hero academia. It was where All Might had forged his legacy. Izuku knew he had the raw power to pass any physical test they threw at him. His fears were entirely psychological. U.A. would require him to fight, to use his Quirk against machines, perhaps even in sparring matches against other teenagers.
Could he hold back enough?
The Acrocanthosaurus within him was a creature of absolute dominance. It didn't understand the concept of a sparring match; it only understood prey, rivals, and territory. Every time Izuku tapped into his power, the beast rattled the bars of its cage, begging to be let loose, begging to tear, to crush, to roar until the world bowed before it.
Izuku finished his set of fifty refrigerator pull-ups, dropping to the sand with a heavy thud that vibrated through the beach. He unclipped the chain from his waist and grabbed one of his massive bento boxes, tearing into a mountain of grilled chicken and rice to replenish the staggering amount of calories his Quirk burned passively.
I have to be a hero, Izuku thought, swallowing a mouthful of food. A hero who saves people with a smile. I won't let them look at me the way Kacchan looked at me that day.
The school day passed with agonizing slowness. Izuku sat through his classes at Aldera Junior High, meticulously taking notes, his massive frame hunched over a desk that looked comically small beneath him. When the final bell rang, he politely packed his bag, bowed to his teacher, and began his walk home.
His route took him under a large, concrete overpass—a quiet, shaded shortcut that offered a brief reprieve from the humid afternoon sun.
Izuku walked with a steady, rhythmic gait, his mind absorbed in an analysis of the Pro Hero Kamui Woods' recent debut. He was so focused on muttering about tensile wood strength versus kinetic force that he almost didn't notice the strange, squelching sound echoing from the drainage grate nearby.
Slop. Squelch.
Izuku paused. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up. His sensory inputs, heightened by his latent mutant biology, flared. He smelled it before he saw it—a foul, noxious odor like raw sewage mixed with rotting swamp water.
From the grate beneath the overpass, a massive, bubbling wave of dark green sludge erupted. It moved with terrifying speed, surging upward and forming into a towering, gelatinous mass. Two bulbous eyes and a jagged set of liquid teeth formed in the center of the muck.
"A medium-sized meat shield..." the Sludge Villain gurgled, its voice wet and echoing. "And look at the size of you! You’ll make the perfect suit to hide in. Don't fight it, kid. It'll only hurt for about forty-five seconds!"
Before Izuku could react, the sludge lunged.
It crashed over him like a tidal wave of filth, instantly wrapping around his arms, his legs, and forcing itself up his nose and into his mouth. The taste was abysmal, a suffocating influx of muck that immediately blocked his airway.
Izuku’s eyes widened in shock. He tried to pull his arms free, but the sludge was incredibly dense and fluid. It moved with him, absorbing his initial, panicked struggles.
I can't breathe! Izuku’s conscious mind panicked. It’s in my lungs! I have to... I have to...
As the oxygen deprivation set in, the human consciousness of Izuku Midoriya began to fade. The black edges of his vision encroached.
But as the boy began to pass out, the biological fail-safes of his Quirk instantly triggered.
The Acrocanthosaurus did not know fear. It did not know panic. It only knew survival, and right now, a lesser organism was attempting to suffocate it. This was an unacceptable affront to its existence.
Deep within Izuku’s DNA, the beast ripped its eyes open.
Thump-THUMP.
Izuku’s heart hammered a chaotic, thunderous beat. The sludge villain, who was currently forcing its way down Izuku's throat, suddenly stopped.
"What the...?" the villain burbled, feeling a sudden, intense heat radiating from the boy's body. "Why is he getting so hot?!"
The water within the sludge began to boil. Steam hissed violently from the gaps in the mud as Izuku’s internal temperature skyrocketed.
Then came the transformation.
Izuku did not fully shift—he didn't have the space, nor did he need to. This was a Partial Transformation, an aggressive, localized manifestation of his Quirk focused entirely on survival and extermination.
Beneath the suffocating sludge, Izuku’s jaw violently dislocated and expanded, the bones thickening, his human teeth rapidly shedding and being replaced by a horrifying rows of three-inch, serrated ivory fangs. The sludge that had been forced down his throat was instantly expelled as Izuku’s lung capacity tripled, his diaphragm turning into a biological bellows.
His eyes snapped open. They were no longer the soft emerald of a boy. They were the piercing, slit-pupiled, amber eyes of a predator.
"GAAHH! What is this?!" the Sludge Villain shrieked, suddenly finding his 'meat suit' expanding rapidly.
Izuku’s arms, previously pinned to his sides, underwent a catastrophic surge in mass. Emerald, obsidian-edged scales tore through his skin, acting as heavy plating. The muscles in his biceps and forearms doubled, then tripled in size, jagged and hyper-dense. His fingers elongated into thick, muscular digits tipped with six-inch, razor-sharp black talons.
The dorsal ridge on his back erupted, tearing through his black school uniform. It pulsed with a blinding green bio-luminescence, pumping unfathomable amounts of kinetic energy directly into his arms and torso.
The beast didn't think; it acted.
Izuku’s massive, clawed hands reached up, his talons sinking deep into the gelatinous mass of the villain. The sludge was designed to absorb blunt force, but it could not withstand the sheer, localized rending torque Izuku was applying.
With a guttural, terrifying hiss that sounded like a steam engine failing, Izuku flexed his back.
He didn't just push the villain off; he violently tore the sludge apart. His massive arms swept outward in a horrific display of raw, explosive muscle power. The aerodynamic shockwave generated by the sheer speed and force of his movement blew the remaining sludge off his body, scattering the villain into dozens of helpless, splattered puddles across the walls and ceiling of the underpass.
Izuku dropped to one knee, coughing violently. The transformation rapidly receded, the scales melting back into his skin, his jaw resetting with a sickening crack, and his dorsal ridge dimming back to its normal, dormant state.
He was human again, gasping for air, trembling violently. He stared at his hands, covered in vile-smelling slime. He had lost control. Even for just three seconds, the beast had taken the wheel.
"TEXAS... SMASH!"
A booming voice echoed through the tunnel, accompanied by a colossal blast of wind pressure that swept through the underpass, gathering the scattered puddles of sludge into one corner.
Izuku looked up, his emerald eyes wide.
Standing at the entrance of the tunnel, framed by the afternoon light, was a colossus of a man. He wore a simple white t-shirt and cargo pants, but his musculature was impossible to ignore. Two massive tufts of blonde hair stood up like a V on his head. His smile was radiant, a beacon of absolute safety.
It was All Might. The Symbol of Peace. Izuku's lifelong idol.
"I AM HERE!" All Might announced, striking a heroic pose. He looked around, expecting to see a villain holding a hostage. Instead, he saw a remarkably large, muscular fourteen-year-old boy in a torn school uniform, kneeling amidst a crater of scattered sludge, coughing politely into his fist.
All Might blinked, his trademark smile faltering for a fraction of a second. He looked at the splatter patterns on the concrete. The villain hadn't been defeated by wind pressure; it had been violently ripped apart by physical force prior to All Might's arrival.
"Ah! Young man!" All Might boomed, marching forward with two large soda bottles. "Are you alright? I apologize for my tardiness! I lost this foul villain in the sewer system. But it appears you handled yourself remarkably well!"
Izuku scrambled to his feet, his heart doing a completely different kind of panicked rhythm now. "A-All Might?! The real All Might?! Oh my goodness, you're... you're right here! I-I'm fine! I'm completely fine!"
Izuku immediately began frantically bowing, his polite, fanboy nature completely overriding the lingering adrenaline of the attack. "Thank you for coming! I-I'm so sorry, I got caught off guard, and my Quirk reacted defensively!"
All Might moved with blinding speed, scooping up the scattered pieces of the Sludge Villain and sealing them tightly inside the two empty soda bottles. He capped them and slid them into his deep cargo pockets.
All Might turned back to Izuku, his sharp blue eyes assessing the boy. Even standing normally, this teenager was built like a heavyweight champion. The peculiar ridge on his back, visible through his torn shirt, indicated a powerful mutant-class Quirk. But what struck All Might was the boy's demeanor. He had the physical presence of a warlord but was currently vibrating with the nervous energy of a polite, awestruck fan.
"No need to apologize, young man!" All Might laughed, a hearty, booming sound. "You possess incredible strength! Though, remember that unauthorized Quirk usage is frowned upon, even in self-defense! Leave the villain fighting to the pros!"
"Y-Yes, sir! Absolutely!" Izuku said, practically vibrating. "Could you... could you please sign my notebook?!"
Izuku grabbed his ruined backpack, pulling out his Hero Analysis for the Future Vol. 13. He opened it, only to find that All Might had already signed a massive two-page spread while Izuku was blinking.
"A PRO ALWAYS WORKS FAST!" All Might declared, giving a thumbs up. "Now, I must be off! I need to deliver this sludge to the police. Stay out of trouble, young man!"
"Wait! All Might!" Izuku called out, taking a step forward. He had a million questions. He wanted to ask how the Symbol of Peace maintained control of his overwhelming strength. He wanted to know how to smile when the power inside you wanted to destroy.
But All Might was already bending his knees. "I CANNOT WAIT! A HERO'S WORK IS NEVER DONE!"
With a shockwave that cracked the concrete pavement, All Might launched himself into the sky, disappearing over the cityscape in a single, colossal bound.
Izuku stood in the underpass, staring up at the sky, his notebook clutched tightly in his massive hands. He felt a profound sense of awe, but also a lingering frustration. He had met his idol, but the fundamental question of his existence remained unanswered.
He let out a long sigh, picking up his ruined backpack. He would just have to figure it out himself.
Ten minutes later, the tranquility of the afternoon was shattered by a sound Izuku knew intimately.
BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
The rhythmic, concussive blasts echoed through the city blocks. It wasn't just construction noise; the cadence was aggressive, angry, and distinctly familiar. It sounded exactly like Kacchan's explosions, but magnified.
Izuku altered his route, his long strides eating up the pavement as he moved toward the shopping district at the center of Tatooin Station. As he rounded the corner, he was met with a scene of absolute chaos.
The alleyway between two major retail buildings was entirely engulfed in flames. Black smoke billowed into the sky. A massive crowd of onlookers had gathered, held back by a thin line of police tape and a handful of Pro Heroes.
Izuku pushed his way to the front of the crowd, his massive frame effortlessly parting the sea of adults. He looked past the police tape and his breath caught in his throat.
It was the Sludge Villain.
The bottles must have fallen from All Might’s pocket during his jump. The villain had reformed, massive and towering, taking up the entire alleyway. But that wasn't what made Izuku's blood run cold.
Trapped within the center of the gelatinous mass was Katsuki Bakugo.
Bakugo was fighting like a cornered animal, his palms unleashing massive explosions that only served to ignite the surrounding buildings, completely ineffective against the fluid nature of the sludge. The sludge was forcing itself into Bakugo's mouth and nose, using the blonde boy's powerful Quirk to keep the heroes at bay.
"It's no use!" Death Arms, a hero with incredible physical strength, shouted, backing away from a blast of fire. "I can't get a grip on him! It's like punching water!"
"My wood will just catch fire!" Kamui Woods yelled, shielding his face.
"I need a two-lane road to maneuver!" Mt. Lady complained, stuck in the background. "There's not enough room!"
They were waiting. The Pro Heroes, the adults with licenses to save people, were standing there, waiting for someone with a better Quirk to arrive.
Izuku watched as the flames licked the walls of the buildings. He watched Bakugo struggle, his face turning a sickening shade of purple. And then, for a brief, agonizing second, Bakugo's ruby red eyes met Izuku's across the chaos.
There was no anger in Bakugo's eyes. There was no arrogance. There was only pure, unadulterated terror. He was suffocating. He was dying.
The heroes were doing nothing.
Izuku’s mind fractured. For a decade, he had built a cage. He had trained his mind to suppress the Acrocanthosaurus, viewing it as a monster that only destroyed. He believed that to be a hero, he had to act human. But as he watched his childhood rival dying while the "heroes" watched, a new revelation struck him with the force of a thunderbolt.
Sometimes, saving a life required a monster. Sometimes, you needed to destroy the obstacle.
In that singular moment, Izuku Midoriya stopped fighting his biology. He harmonized with it. The human desire to protect aligned perfectly with the apex predator's drive to hunt and destroy a threat.
The cage doors swung wide open.
Izuku dropped his backpack. The crowd gasped as the massive teenager suddenly lunged under the police tape, accelerating with terrifying speed.
"Hey! Kid! Get back here!" Death Arms roared, reaching out to grab him.
But Izuku was already gone.
As he sprinted toward the wall of fire, Izuku allowed the transformation to take hold. Not the localized partial shift from the underpass, but the full, terrifying might of his hybrid form.
His bones cracked and elongated. Thick, emerald scales armored his body, rendering him completely impervious to the ambient heat of the flames. His jaw thrust forward, filled with serrated teeth. The massive, bio-luminescent dorsal ridge erupted from his back, tearing his shirt to shreds and pumping a localized earthquake of kinetic energy into his heavy limbs. A thick, muscular tail lashed out behind him, shattering a fire hydrant and sending a geyser of water into the air.
He didn't look like a student anymore. He looked like a kaiju, a prehistoric nightmare wrapped in a high school uniform.
The Sludge Villain looked down, its liquid eyes widening in absolute horror as it recognized the boy from the underpass.
"YOU!" the villain shrieked.
Izuku didn't speak. He didn't have the vocal cords for human speech in this form. Instead, he opened his maw and unleashed a deafening, concussive theropod roar that shattered the glass of every storefront within a fifty-yard radius. The sound wave literally blew out the nearest fires.
The Acro-Brawler had arrived.
Izuku didn't jump. He didn't try to punch the fluid. He understood physics. To move an immovable, fluid object, you needed extreme leverage and catastrophic displacement.
He charged forward, ignoring a point-blank explosion from Bakugo's hijacked hands. The fire washed over Izuku’s scaled face, doing absolutely nothing. Izuku dropped his center of gravity, bringing his massive hands down to the asphalt.
He sank his six-inch, razor-sharp claws directly into the concrete street, securing a perfect, immovable pivot point. His thick tail slammed into the ground behind him, providing the ultimate counterbalance.
Output: One Hundred Percent.
The dorsal ridge on his back flared with blinding, radioactive green light. The hyper-dense muscles in his arms and back tensed to their absolute limit, bulging to the size of tree trunks.
With his claws anchored to the earth, Izuku lunged forward, thrusting his entire upper body directly into the center of the sludge villain, right below where Bakugo was trapped.
"What are you doing?!" the villain laughed hysterically. "You can't grab me!"
I'm not grabbing you, the human part of Izuku’s brain calculated. I'm displacing you.
Izuku opened his massive jaws and clamped his serrated teeth down onto Bakugo's collar, taking extreme care not to pierce the boy's skin. With a grip secured on the victim, Izuku unleashed the stored kinetic energy in his dorsal ridge.
He violently twisted his torso, pulling his head backward while simultaneously sweeping his massive arms outward in a reverse bear-hug motion.
The sheer physical force of Izuku's movement was akin to a bomb going off underwater. The hyper-dense muscle shockwave created a localized vacuum of air and kinetic displacement. He literally tore the ambient atmosphere, taking the sludge with it.
The fluid villain didn't have the structural integrity to withstand the catastrophic tearing force. The sludge was violently ripped away from Bakugo, splattering against the brick walls of the alleyway with the force of shotgun blasts.
Izuku ripped Bakugo entirely free from the mass, tossing the coughing, gasping blonde boy backward, out of the danger zone.
The Sludge Villain, now reduced to a fraction of its size and completely destabilized, tried to reform, a pathetic glob of mud rising from the asphalt. "Damn you... damn you!"
Izuku stood up to his full, seven-foot-tall hybrid height. He looked down at the puddle. The golden, predatory slits of his eyes promised absolute extinction. He raised his right foot, the leg muscles bunching up, ready to stomp the villain into the earth’s crust.
Before he could bring his foot down, a massive gust of wind tore through the alleyway, extinguishing the remaining fires and flattening Izuku’s scales against his skin.
"I REALLY AM PATHETIC!"
All Might had arrived, his massive form materializing through the smoke. He grabbed the remaining sludge in a blur of motion. "I TOLD YOU WHAT MAKES A HERO, YET I DID NOT ACT ON MY OWN WORDS! DETROIT... SMASH!"
All Might unleashed a downward punch that didn't hit the villain, but hit the air pressure above it. The sheer force of the blow altered the weather, pulling clouds together and sending a torrential downpour of rain over the shopping district.
The villain was neutralized. The fires were out.
Silence fell over the crowd, broken only by the patter of the newly formed rain.
Izuku stood amidst the wreckage. The adrenaline began to fade, and the staggering caloric toll of shifting into a full hybrid form while utilizing one hundred percent output hit him instantly.
His vision swam. The massive dorsal ridge rapidly deflated, his bones crunching and shifting back to their human proportions. The green scales vanished. Within seconds, the terrifying seven-foot beast was replaced by a heavily muscled, shirtless teenager, swaying on his feet.
Izuku dropped to his hands and knees, his stomach cramping violently. He vomited a mixture of bile and stomach acid, his body desperately screaming for calories.
"Deku..."
Izuku looked up through blurry eyes. Bakugo was sitting a few feet away, covered in soot and sludge, coughing violently. The blonde boy's eyes were wide, staring at Izuku with a complex, chaotic mixture of humiliation, fury, and an undeniable, begrudging gratitude. Bakugo opened his mouth to yell, to curse, to assert his dominance—but no words came out. He simply looked away, clenching his fists in the dirt.
The Pro Heroes finally broke out of their stupor and rushed forward.
Instead of praising him, Death Arms grabbed Izuku by the shoulder, hauling the exhausted teenager to his feet.
"What were you thinking, kid?!" Death Arms scolded, his voice loud enough for the crowd to hear. "You have a powerful Quirk, sure, but jumping into a hostage situation blindly is a death wish! You got in the way of the Pros! You could have gotten yourself and the hostage killed!"
Kamui Woods nodded sternly. "You need to learn restraint. Leave the hero work to those with licenses."
Izuku just kept his head down, bowing respectfully. "I apologize. I saw my classmate... my body just moved on its own."
He didn't bother arguing. He knew the truth. They hadn't stepped in because they lacked the proper Quirks. He had stepped in because his Quirk was overwhelmingly suited for violent intervention.
On the other side of the alley, Pro Heroes were praising Bakugo for his resilience and the sheer power of his explosions, completely ignoring the fact that those explosions had been useless against the villain.
Izuku quietly gathered his ruined backpack, slipping a spare jacket he always carried over his bare, heavily muscled shoulders. He began the long walk home, entirely drained, both physically and emotionally.
The sun was setting, casting a golden-orange glow over the quiet residential streets. Izuku walked slowly, munching on a massive block of high-calorie protein fudge he kept in his bag for emergencies.
"DEKU!"
Izuku stopped, turning around.
Katsuki Bakugo was marching down the street, his hands shoved deep into his pockets, his face bruised and smeared with ash. He stopped a few feet away from Izuku, his chest heaving.
"Listen to me, you giant freak," Bakugo snarled, though his voice lacked its usual explosive venom. "I didn't ask for your help! I had it under control! I would have blown that sludge bastard to kingdom come on my own! Don't you dare think you're better than me just because you have some dinosaur parlor trick! I'm going to U.A., and I'm going to be the Number One Hero! Got it?!"
Bakugo didn't wait for a response. He spun on his heel and marched away, his shoulders tense.
Izuku watched him go, a small, genuine smile touching his lips. It was Kacchan's way of saying thank you.
"He's a fiery one, isn't he?"
Izuku jumped, spinning around.
From the adjacent alleyway, a skeletal, gaunt man with messy blonde hair and hollow, sunken eyes stepped out. He wore clothes that were entirely too large for him, hanging off his bony frame like a scarecrow.
Izuku immediately fell into a defensive stance, his feet shifting, preparing for a grapple. "Who are you?"
The skeletal man coughed, blood spattering onto the pavement. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. "Relax, young man. It's me."
The man reached up and pushed his messy bangs out of his eyes, revealing sharp, piercing blue irises.
Izuku’s jaw dropped. He recognized those eyes. "A-All Might?! What... how... what happened to you?!"
"A lot has happened," All Might sighed, leaning against a telephone pole. "I followed you here, young Midoriya. I saw your interview with the police. I wanted to speak with you."
All Might proceeded to lift his oversized shirt, revealing a horrific, sprawling scar that covered the entire left side of his chest. It looked like a crater, a mess of twisted scar tissue.
"Five years ago, a villain did this to me," All Might explained, his voice solemn. "My respiratory system was nearly destroyed. I lost my entire stomach. I can only do hero work for about three hours a day now. The rest of the time, I look like this."
Izuku stared, horrified. The Symbol of Peace, the invincible colossus, was slowly dying. "Why... why are you showing me this? I'm just a kid."
"Because, young man, I owe you an apology, and I owe you my thanks," All Might said, his tone shifting to one of profound respect. "Today, in that alleyway, the Pro Heroes stood and watched. I stood and watched, paralyzed by my own limits. But you... a fourteen-year-old student... you didn't hesitate. You charged into the fire."
All Might stepped forward, looking up at the heavily muscled teenager. "I have been looking for a successor. Someone to inherit my Quirk, 'One For All'."
Izuku’s eyes widened. Transferable Quirks? It sounded like a myth.
"But after watching you fight," All Might continued, shaking his head slightly, a small smile forming on his skeletal face. "I realized something. You don't need my power. You already possess the raw, overwhelming strength of a Symbol."
Izuku looked down at his massive hands. "But I... my Quirk is a monster. When I use it, I scare people. The heroes today, they looked at me like I was a villain."
"They looked at you with fear because they do not understand you," All Might corrected gently. "Power is terrifying, young Midoriya. My power, when I first received it, shattered my bones. It caused immense collateral damage. A Quirk is just a tool. It is the heart of the person wielding it that determines whether it is heroic or villainous."
All Might stood up straight, his hollow eyes burning with an intense, unyielding fire.
"When you rushed in to save your friend, your eyes were not those of a monster. They were the eyes of a true hero. You controlled your beast to save a life. You have the brawn, Midoriya. You have the biological superiority to crush any villain in your path. What you lack is the spirit, the technique, and the confidence to stand in the light."
All Might held out his hand.
"I will not give you my Quirk," All Might declared, his voice carrying the weight of his legacy. "Your body would likely reject it, or it would mutate your already overwhelming physiology into something uncontrollable. Instead, I offer you something else. I will be your mentor. I will teach you how to smile in the face of fear. I will teach you how to control your power so that instead of terrifying the public, you become their unbreakable shield."
Izuku stared at the skeletal hand extended toward him. For ten years, he had fought his own biology in silence, entirely alone. He had locked his Quirk in a cage, terrified of what he was. But the man who stood at the absolute pinnacle of heroics didn't see a monster. He saw a successor. He saw a Symbol.
Tears, hot and fast, welled up in Izuku’s eyes. He didn't bother trying to stop them. He let out a choked sob, the immense burden of his isolation lifting from his massive shoulders.
Izuku reached out, his large, calloused hand grasping All Might’s thin one. He bowed his head deeply.
"Yes," Izuku wept, his voice thick with emotion. "Please... teach me."
All Might smiled, a genuine, warm expression.
The path was set. Izuku Midoriya did not need to inherit a legacy. With the Number One Hero guiding him, he was going to forge his own, using the overwhelming, primal might of the Apex Acrocanthosaurus. The brawler had met his master. The real training was about to begin.
The ten months leading up to the U.A. High School entrance exams were a crucible of flesh, bone, and spirit.
Under the clandestine tutelage of Toshinori Yagi—the skeletal man who commanded the legacy of All Might—Izuku Midoriya had not just trained; he had fundamentally reforged his very existence. Most aspiring heroes spent their final middle-school months studying or practicing their Quirks in local parks. Izuku had spent his fighting a god in a junkyard.
All Might had recognized early on that Izuku did not need strength training. The passive kinetic generation of his Acrocanthosaurus mutation meant his body naturally accrued hyper-dense muscle mass simply by existing. Instead, All Might focused on the two things Izuku lacked: supreme martial technique and the psychological fortitude of a Symbol.
They sparred on the cleared sands of Dagobah Beach. All Might, in his brief windows of muscle-form, would engage Izuku in brutal, close-quarters combat. He taught Izuku how to use his immense weight not as a burden, but as a weapon. He taught him how to grapple, how to lock joints, how to redirect the force of a larger opponent, and how to utilize the terrifying counterbalance of his heavy theropod tail. Most importantly, All Might taught him how to smile. “When the beast inside you wants to roar, Young Midoriya, you must force it to grin. The world does not need to fear your power if they know your heart controls it.”
To sustain this grueling regimen, Izuku’s caloric intake had skyrocketed to mythological proportions. He consumed roughly twenty thousand calories a day. His mother, Inko, had essentially converted their kitchen into an industrial catering operation.
Now, on the morning of the U.A. Entrance Exam, the results of this crucible were undeniable.
Izuku stood before the towering glass-and-steel gates of U.A. High School, an absolute monolith of a fourteen-year-old boy. He wore his black junior high gakuran uniform, though it had been custom-tailored yet again just last week to accommodate his ever-expanding frame. He stood a hair under six-foot-two in his base human form. His shoulders were impossibly broad, his chest a barrel of corded muscle, and the thick, permanent dorsal ridge of bone and sinew ran down his spine, pressing against the fabric of his jacket. He looked less like a student and more like an undercover Pro Hero.
Izuku adjusted the straps of his massive backpack, taking a deep, centering breath. This is it, he thought, feeling the familiar, low-level hum of primal energy vibrating in his bones. Ten months. I’m ready.
He took a step forward, his heavy, steel-toed boot landing on the paved walkway. As he did, the sheer width of his dorsal ridge shifted his center of gravity slightly as he looked up at the main building. His foot clipped his other ankle, a clumsy byproduct of his massive frame.
Time slowed down as Izuku felt himself pitching forward. Seriously? Ten months of grueling martial arts, and I’m going to faceplant at the front gate?
Before his face could crater the pristine U.A. pavement, a sudden sensation of absolute weightlessness enveloped him. The heavy pull of gravity vanished, and Izuku found himself suspended mid-air, floating like a massive, muscular balloon just inches above the ground.
"Are you okay?!"
Izuku gently rotated in the air, finding himself face-to-face with a girl his age. She had short, bobbed brown hair, permanent pink blush on her cheeks, and wide, expressive eyes. She was holding her hands together, a faint pink aura glowing around her fingertips.
"I stopped you with my Quirk!" she said, smiling brightly. "I'm sorry I didn't ask first, but it would be bad luck to fall before the exam, right?"
Izuku blinked, genuinely surprised. Most people who didn't know him instinctively flinched when they got this close to his hulking frame. But this girl was looking at him with pure, unadulterated cheerfulness.
"T-Thank you," Izuku stammered, his polite, slightly timid demeanor sharply contrasting his warlord-like physique. He slowly righted himself in the air, finding his footing as the girl released her Quirk. Gravity slammed back into him, his boots hitting the pavement with a heavy, resonant thud that vibrated through the ground.
The girl’s eyes widened slightly as she felt the impact, looking him up and down. "Wow! You're really big! Are you aiming for the hero course too? You look like you could break a robot in half with your bare hands!"
"A-Ah, y-yes," Izuku rubbed the back of his neck, a furious blush spreading across his cheeks. "I'm Izuku Midoriya. And, well, I guess my Quirk makes me a bit heavy."
"I'm Ochaco Uraraka!" she beamed, entirely unfazed by his massive size. "Well, let's both do our best, Midoriya! See you inside!"
She offered a cheerful wave and jogged toward the main building. Izuku watched her go, a warm feeling spreading in his chest. I talked to a girl... and she didn't run away!
With a renewed sense of confidence, Izuku marched into the auditorium for the written exam and orientation.
The auditorium was a massive, stadium-seating theater designed to hold thousands of prospective students. Izuku found his assigned seat—number 2234—and carefully squeezed his frame into it. The seat groaned under his weight. He had to sit perfectly upright, unable to recline due to the massive dorsal ridge running down his back.
To his right, an incredibly familiar, spiky ash-blonde head was resting on a desk. Katsuki Bakugo.
Bakugo glanced sideways, his ruby eyes narrowing as he took in Izuku's sheer mass. Ten months had changed Izuku drastically. The gap in their physical presence was now an absolute canyon. Bakugo scowled, clicking his tongue in irritation, and turned his head away without a word. The days of shouting "Deku" were long gone; replaced by a tense, silent acknowledgment of the apex predator sitting next to him.
The lights dimmed, and a spotlight snapped onto the stage. Standing at the podium was the Voice Hero, Present Mic.
"WELCOME TO TODAY'S LIVE PERFORMANCE!" Present Mic screamed, his voice amplified to deafening levels. "EVERYBODY SAY HEYYYY!"
Silence. Pure, unadulterated silence from the thousands of nervous teenagers.
"WHAT A REFINED RESPONSE!" Present Mic recovered seamlessly. He launched into a rapid-fire explanation of the practical exam. They would be split into different battle centers, simulated cityscapes where they would have ten minutes to destroy robotic "villains" worth one, two, or three points.
As Present Mic explained the rules, Izuku’s mind was racing. He was rapidly calculating the spatial dimensions of the city, the density of robotic armor plating, and the optimal output percentage he would need to destroy them without causing collateral damage to the other examinees. As he thought, his habit of muttering surfaced, but due to his expanded chest cavity and vocal cords, it sounded like a low, rumbling engine idly revving in the middle of the auditorium.
"Excuse me, sir!"
A tall, stiff-postured boy with blue hair and glasses suddenly stood up, chopping the air with his hand. "I have a question! On the printout, there are four types of villains! If this is a misprint, then U.A., the most prominent school in Japan, should be ashamed of that foolish mistake!"
The boy then turned around, his glasses flashing as he pointed directly at Izuku. "And you! In the back! You've been rumbling and muttering this entire time! It is highly distracting! If you are here on a pleasure trip, then you should leave immediately!"
The entire auditorium turned to look at Izuku.
Izuku didn't flinch. Ten months of sparring with the Symbol of Peace had forged his nerves out of titanium. He looked down at the boy with glasses, his emerald eyes calm and steady.
Izuku slowly stood up. As he unfolded his massive, six-foot-two frame, the sheer physical intimidation he radiated caused several students nearby to physically lean away. Even the blue-haired boy took a half-step back, suddenly realizing he had just yelled at someone built like a professional heavyweight fighter.
"I apologize if my thinking out loud distracted you," Izuku said, his voice a deep, polite baritone that carried easily through the silent room. He bowed respectfully, a perfect ninety-degree angle despite his dorsal ridge. "I was merely analyzing the structural parameters of the exam. I will remain quiet. Thank you for pointing it out."
He sat back down seamlessly.
The blue-haired boy blinked, completely disarmed by the extreme politeness radiating from such a terrifying-looking individual. "A-Ah... well, apology accepted!" he stammered, quickly sitting down.
Present Mic chuckled through the microphone. "Alright, alright, let's keep it moving! To answer your question, Examinee 7111, the fourth villain is a Zero Pointer! It's an obstacle! A massive gimmick that will rampage through the tight spaces. I recommend you all try to avoid it!"
Izuku narrowed his eyes. An obstacle that rampages through tight spaces... I see. It's a test of spatial awareness and threat assessment.
Twenty minutes later, Izuku stood before the colossal metal gates of Battle Center B. The fake city behind the walls was a sprawling metropolis of concrete, glass, and asphalt, designed entirely for destruction.
Surrounding him were dozens of other examinees. Some were stretching, some were taking deep breaths, and others were eyeing the competition. The blue-haired boy from the auditorium was there, lecturing a student about leaning on the wall. Ochaco Uraraka was a few yards away, looking incredibly nervous, slapping her own cheeks to hype herself up.
Izuku, however, was not stretching. He was eating.
He reached into a large duffel bag slung over his shoulder and pulled out what looked like a solid brick of compressed meat and fat—a specially designed, ultra-high-calorie pemmican bar Inko had made. He tore off a massive chunk with his teeth, chewing methodically. He needed his internal caloric furnace fully stoked before he triggered the transformation.
The blue-haired boy noticed him and began marching over. "You there! Are you eating right before a physical exam?! That is highly irresponsible! And you are looking at that girl over there! Are you trying to sabotage her concentration?!"
Izuku swallowed the last of the pemmican, casually wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. He looked down at the boy. "I am eating because my Quirk requires a massive caloric reserve to function, otherwise I will slip into a coma. And I was looking at her because she seems nervous, and I was wondering if I should offer her some words of encouragement."
The blue-haired boy froze, his jaw dropping slightly. Once again, his assumptions had been entirely dismantled by Izuku's earnest, logical politeness. "I... I see. I misjudged you completely. I apologize! I am Tenya Iida!"
"Izuku Midoriya," Izuku nodded.
Before they could speak further, the massive metal gates groaned, slowly beginning to slide open.
Izuku’s heart rate spiked. This was it. The culmination of a decade of fear, training, and acceptance. He dropped his duffel bag near the wall, cracking his massive knuckles.
"RIGHT, LET'S START!" Present Mic's voice boomed from the observation towers. "WHAT'S WRONG? THERE ARE NO COUNTDOWNS IN A REAL BATTLE! RUN, RUN, RUN!"
The other students hesitated, confused by the lack of a buzzer.
Izuku did not.
The moment the gap in the gates was wide enough, Izuku surged forward. He didn't just run; he exploded off the starting line. The pavement beneath his steel-toed boots cracked spider-webs into the concrete from the sheer kinetic force of his launch.
As he sprinted down the main avenue of the fake city, he felt the familiar, intoxicating rush of primal adrenaline. He closed his eyes, visualizing the cage in his mind. He didn't break it open; he simply unlocked the door and stepped inside with the beast.
Output: Hybrid State. 100% Cellular Activation.
Mid-stride, Izuku Midoriya ceased to be human.
A guttural, wet tearing sound echoed through the avenue. The students at the starting line gasped in absolute horror as the boy sprinting ahead of them seemed to violently erupt.
Izuku’s bones snapped and lengthened, thrusting his height from six-foot-two to a towering, hulking seven feet. His gakuran uniform, specially designed with breakaway seams, shredded instantly, leaving him in only a pair of reinforced, hyper-stretch combat pants.
Thick, impenetrable emerald scales edged in obsidian rapidly grew over his skin, forming heavy biological armor across his chest, arms, and legs. His hands grew massive, his fingers elongating into thick digits capped with six-inch, razor-sharp black talons that glinted in the sunlight. His jaw thrust forward, violently dislocating and expanding as rows of serrated, conical teeth pushed through his gums.
But the most terrifying change was the dorsal ridge. The thick protrusion on his back violently expanded, jutting upward into a massive, jagged sail of pure, hyper-dense muscle and bone. As the transformation completed, the thick veins running along the ridge ignited with a blinding, bio-luminescent green glow. A massive, heavily armored prehensile tail whipped out from the base of his spine, slamming into the asphalt and acting as a perfect counterbalance to his heavy upper body.
Izuku didn't stop sprinting. He opened his terrifying, reptilian maw and let out a concussive, apocalyptic roar that shattered the windows of the surrounding fake buildings. The sound wave hit the students at the gate like a physical wall of wind.
"W-What is that?!" a student shrieked.
"Is he the Zero Pointer?!" another yelled.
Izuku rounded the first corner and came face-to-face with a cluster of three 1-Pointer robots and two 2-Pointers. Their mechanical lenses locked onto him, targeting systems whirring. "Target acquired," one of them droned.
Izuku didn't slow down. He didn't dodge. The Jurassic Brawler had arrived.
He crashed into the lead 1-Pointer like a runaway freight train. The impact was catastrophic. Izuku didn't just punch it; he used the momentum of his charge, leading with his armored shoulder. The robot’s steel chassis crumpled like aluminum foil, and it was sent flying fifty feet through the air, crashing through a brick wall.
One point, Izuku’s human mind calculated, completely calm amidst the feral storm.
The two 2-Pointers flanked him, firing small rubber projectiles designed to bruise and deter. The projectiles plinked harmlessly off Izuku’s emerald scales. He pivoted, dropping his center of gravity. His massive tail, weighing several hundred pounds, whipped around with the rotational torque of a helicopter blade.
SMASH.
The tail cleaved through the legs of both 2-Pointers, severing the thick steel as if it were dry wood. As the robots fell, Izuku reached out with his massive, clawed hands. He didn't swing wildly. He executed a perfect, terrifying judo throw. He grabbed the torso of one falling robot, utilized his leverage, and hurled it directly into the remaining 1-Pointers. The resulting explosion echoed down the block.
Seven points.
He pushed off his back foot, leaving a crater in the asphalt, and bounded up the side of a building, his claws digging deep into the concrete facade for grip. He launched himself off the wall, intercepting a massive 3-Pointer in mid-air.
He wrapped his thick arms around the robot’s main cannon arm, twisting his hips mid-air. He applied a flawless, high-altitude kimura lock. The robot’s steel joints shrieked in protest. With a flex of his glowing dorsal ridge, Izuku snapped the mechanical arm entirely off. They crashed to the ground, Izuku landing gracefully on two feet and his tail, while he used the severed robotic arm like a massive club to crush the 3-Pointer's central processing unit.
Ten points.
Deep within the bowels of U.A. High School, in a darkened, multi-screen observation room, the faculty watched the carnage unfold.
Sitting in a large leather chair in the center of the room was Nezu, the principal of U.A., a strange chimera of a mouse, dog, and bear. Beside him stood a dozen Pro Heroes, including Midnight, Present Mic, Snipe, Vlad King, and the perpetually exhausted Shota Aizawa (Eraserhead). Standing quietly in the back, in his skeletal form, was Toshinori Yagi.
"We have quite the crop this year," Nezu hummed, taking a sip of tea. "Many excellent Quirks. But... I believe we all have our eyes drawn to Battle Center B."
On the central monitor, the camera tracked a hulking, seven-foot-tall reptilian monster executing a flawless German suplex on a 3-Pointer robot. The robot's head was crushed entirely upon impact.
"Good lord," Vlad King muttered, crossing his massive arms. "Look at the sheer structural damage he's causing. Is his Quirk a gigantification or a mutant-class transformation?"
"Mutant-class transformation. Acrocanthosaurus biology, specifically," Nezu chirped, pulling up a digital file. "Examinee 2234, Izuku Midoriya. His Quirk allows him to shift into a theropod hybrid. The focal point of his power is that massive dorsal ridge on his back. It acts as a bio-kinetic battery, allowing him to pack and utilize an impossibly dense amount of hyper-reactive muscle mass."
Aizawa watched the screen intently, his bloodshot eyes narrowing. "He fights like a monster. His appearance is terrifying. The public doesn't typically take well to heroes who look like Godzilla."
"Look closer, Eraserhead," Toshinori spoke up from the back of the room, a hint of immense pride bleeding into his raspy voice.
Aizawa frowned, leaning closer to the monitor.
On the screen, Izuku had just crushed a 2-Pointer. Suddenly, another examinee—a boy with a laser Quirk—was cornered by three robots down the street. The boy was frozen in fear.
Izuku didn't hesitate. He let out a deafening roar to draw the robots' targeting systems. He bounded across the street, putting his massive, heavily armored body directly between the robots and the frozen student. He took the concussive blasts of the robots entirely on his glowing dorsal ridge, shielding the boy completely. Then, with surgical precision, Izuku used his tail to sweep the robots' legs, disabling them without causing an explosion near the civilian. He gave the terrified student a quick thumbs-up with a massive, clawed hand, before bounding away.
Aizawa’s eyes widened slightly.
"His appearance is that of a beast," Toshinori said softly. "But his movements? His combat style? It is strictly disciplined. He is using high-level mixed martial arts, grappling, and judo. He isn't swinging wildly. He's analyzing the structural weaknesses of the robots and dismantling them. And notice his spatial awareness. Despite his massive size and the destructive nature of his Quirk, he has not caused a single piece of collateral damage to another examinee."
"Fascinating," Nezu grinned, his beady eyes gleaming. "He possesses the overwhelming brawn of an apex predator, but the tactical mind and restraint of a seasoned Pro. He's currently sitting at sixty-five villain points. He's completely dominating the center."
"He's strong," Aizawa admitted grudgingly. "But hero work isn't just about crushing villains. It's about how you react when the situation is hopeless. Let's see how he, and the rest of them, handle the true test."
Nezu nodded, flipping open a small panel on his desk to reveal a large red button. "Indeed. Let us deploy the obstacle."
Izuku was panting heavily, standing amidst a graveyard of twisted metal and sparking wires. He had lost count of his points after fifty, prioritizing efficiency and speed.
His body was running incredibly hot. The glowing green veins on his dorsal ridge were pulsing rapidly, attempting to cool his core temperature. The caloric burn of maintaining the Full Hybrid Mode while engaging in high-intensity combat was staggering. He could feel the familiar, gnawing ache of hunger clawing at his stomach.
I need to wrap this up soon, Izuku thought, his golden, slit-pupiled eyes scanning the perimeter. I have enough points to pass. I should revert and conserve energy—
The ground shook.
It wasn't a minor tremor. It was a massive, localized earthquake that threw several examinees off their feet. Izuku’s theropod biology, highly sensitive to seismic vibrations, flared violently. He spun around, his tail lashing the air.
At the far end of the main avenue, the buildings were being pushed aside like cardboard boxes. A colossal, treaded machine rolled into view. It stood easily taller than a twenty-story building, blocking out the sun and casting a massive, terrifying shadow over the fake city.
The Zero Pointer.
"L-LESS THAN TWO MINUTES REMAINING!" Present Mic announced over the speakers.
The appearance of the behemoth shattered the morale of the examinees.
"Run!" someone screamed.
"It's the Zero Pointer! There's no way we can fight that!"
The teenagers, previously brave and eager, broke into a panicked stampede, sprinting away from the towering mechanical titan as it slowly advanced, crushing everything in its path.
Izuku’s initial instinct—the primal, animalistic part of his brain—screamed at him to flee. The Acrocanthosaurus was an apex predator, but it was not stupid. It recognized a threat exponentially larger than itself. The urge to turn and run with the herd was overwhelming.
He took a step back, preparing to sprint.
“Ow! Help!”
The sound was small, barely a whisper over the grinding gears of the colossal machine, but Izuku’s enhanced hearing caught it perfectly. He snapped his head toward the source of the noise.
Fifty yards ahead, directly in the path of the advancing Zero Pointer, was Ochaco Uraraka. She had tripped, her leg pinned under a massive slab of concrete debris that had fallen from a crushed building. She was desperately trying to push it off, tears streaming down her face as the shadow of the Zero Pointer’s massive foot fell over her.
The other examinees were running right past her. Tenya Iida paused for a fraction of a second, his engines revving, but the sheer terror of the machine compelled him to keep running. The bystander effect was in full force.
Izuku’s heart stopped.
The beast wanted to run. But the human... the human who had sworn to be a Symbol of Peace, the human who had been smiled at by this girl just an hour ago... refused to take another step backward.
In a fraction of a second, Izuku Midoriya forced the apex predator to bow to his will. He completely synchronized his mind and his Quirk. The primal rage of the dinosaur was funneled entirely into the protective fury of a hero.
Izuku didn't run away. He let out a roar that shook the very foundations of the city, a sound so purely dominant and terrifying that it caused the fleeing students to freeze and turn around in sheer awe.
Izuku charged.
He moved faster than he had the entire exam, his massive legs eating up the asphalt.
The Zero Pointer’s optical sensors flared red. It raised its colossal right foot, a massive slab of steel the size of a bus, preparing to crush the rubble and Uraraka into dust.
"Midoriya!" Uraraka screamed, watching the seven-foot reptilian monster sprint toward her.
Izuku didn't stop to try and lift the debris off her; there was no time. The foot was coming down.
Izuku vaulted over Uraraka, placing his massive body directly between her and the descending steel of the Zero Pointer. He planted his heavy boots deep into the asphalt, digging his six-inch talons into the concrete for the ultimate anchor. He lowered his stance, sweeping his massive, heavily armored tail behind him to establish an unbreakable center of gravity.
He raised his arms, his palms facing the sky.
Output: ONE HUNDRED MILLION PERCENT. OVERDRIVE.
The Zero Pointer's foot slammed down.
BOOOOOOM!
The impact created a concussive shockwave that shattered every remaining window on the block and sent a cloud of dust billowing into the air. The ground beneath Izuku cratered, sinking three feet instantly.
But the foot did not crush them.
Izuku Midoriya, a fourteen-year-old boy, had caught the descending foot of a building-sized machine with his bare hands.
The strain on his body was apocalyptic. The muscles in his arms, chest, and legs bulged to grotesque, terrifying proportions, the thick green scales groaning under the pressure. The massive dorsal ridge on his back flared with a bio-luminescent light so blindingly bright it looked as though he had swallowed a star. The heat radiating from his body instantly evaporated the sweat on his skin, turning into a thick cloud of steam.
"GAAAAAAARRRRRGGGH!" Izuku roared, blood dripping from his serrated teeth as he pushed back against the thousands of tons of downward pressure.
Uraraka stared up from beneath the rubble, completely paralyzed by awe. He looked like a mythological titan, holding up the sky to protect her.
In the observation room, the Pro Heroes were out of their seats.
"He caught it?!" Present Mic gasped. "That thing weighs thousands of tons! It defies physics!"
"Look at his dorsal ridge!" Nezu yelled, pointing at the screen. "His Quirk isn't just generating muscle; it's absorbing the kinetic force of the robot's descent and funneling it directly back into his own frame!"
Aizawa’s eyes were wide, his usual apathy entirely shattered. "He's not just holding it... he's shifting his grip."
Down in the fake city, Izuku knew he couldn't hold it forever. The ground beneath him was giving way. He needed to displace the machine. He needed to destroy it.
Izuku’s primal brain calculated the leverage.
He dug his claws deeper into the steel treads of the robot's foot. He shifted his hips, sliding his left foot backward and his right foot forward. He brought his massive, muscular tail up, wrapping it entirely around the heel of the robot's foot.
He was locking the Zero Pointer into a grapple.
"GET... UP!" Izuku bellowed.
The glowing veins on his back pulsed with absolute maximum output. Using his perfectly anchored center of gravity, the incredible rotational torque of his tail, and the hyper-dense, explosive power of his dorsal ridge, Izuku executed the most devastating martial arts maneuver in human history.
He lifted.
The colossal machine groaned. The gears shrieked. To the absolute disbelief of everyone watching, the Zero Pointer's foot was forced upward.
Izuku pivoted his hips, dropping his shoulder and twisting his entire upper body backward. He was using the robot's own massive weight and center of gravity against it, treating the towering behemoth like an oversized judo opponent.
He executed a flawless, earth-shattering suplex.
The sheer kinetic displacement created a vacuum in the air. The Zero Pointer’s massive frame tipped backward, its center of balance entirely compromised by the impossible leverage applied to its foot.
The colossal machine was thrown completely off its feet. It arched through the air in a terrifying, slow-motion arc, before crashing down onto its back with a force that registered on local seismographs.
CRA-KOOOOOOOM!
The explosion was blinding. The Zero Pointer shattered upon impact, its internal generators blowing out in a massive fireball that consumed the machine. A wave of wind and dust swept through the city, flattening the remaining students against the walls.
Silence descended upon Battle Center B. The only sound was the crackling of the destroyed robot's flames and the gentle hum of the wind.
As the dust slowly cleared, the students opened their eyes, peering down the ruined avenue.
The Zero Pointer was a mangled heap of scrap metal.
Standing triumphantly before the wreckage, panting heavily, was Izuku. His terrifying, seven-foot hybrid form slowly began to steam. The blinding green light on his back faded. The massive dorsal ridge rapidly deflated, his bones cracking and shifting as they retracted. The thick scales melted back into his skin, and his jaw snapped back to human proportions.
Within seconds, the monster was gone. In its place stood Izuku Midoriya, clad only in his torn combat pants, his heavily muscled human torso covered in soot and sweat. He was swaying on his feet, his face pale from the instantaneous, severe caloric depletion.
He slowly turned around, looking down at Uraraka. He walked over to her, his legs trembling. With one hand, he effortlessly lifted the slab of concrete off her trapped leg and tossed it aside.
He looked down at her, his emerald eyes soft and entirely human. He gave her a weak, exhausted thumbs-up.
"Are you... safe?" he rasped.
Uraraka could only nod, tears of gratitude welling in her eyes. "Y-Yes."
Izuku smiled—a genuine, warm, heroic smile. Then, his eyes rolled back in his head, and he collapsed backward into the rubble, unconscious.
"TIME'S UP!" Present Mic's voice blared over the speakers, breaking the stunned silence.
The U.A. Entrance Exam was over.
One week later.
Izuku sat in his bedroom, staring intensely at a small, circular metal disk sitting on his desk. He was currently eating his fourth bento box of the morning, absently chewing on a piece of grilled chicken as he stared down his destiny.
He had woken up in the U.A. infirmary after the exam. Recovery Girl had hooked him up to massive IV bags of pure glucose and scolded him for pushing his body to the absolute limit of starvation, though she praised his heroic spirit. He hadn't seen Uraraka or the blue-haired boy since he passed out.
"Izuku!" Inko called from the hallway, her footsteps rapid. She burst into his room, holding a letter with the U.A. wax seal. "It's here! The letter is here!"
Izuku took the envelope, his massive hands trembling slightly. He carefully broke the seal and tipped it over the desk.
The circular metal disk slid out. Immediately, it projected a high-definition hologram into the center of his room.
"I AM HERE AS A PROJECTION!"
Izuku gasped. It was All Might, wearing a sharply tailored yellow suit.
"Young Midoriya!" All Might boomed, his holographic form smiling proudly. "You did excellent on the written test! But I am here to discuss your practical exam!"
The projection shifted, showing a video of Izuku saving Uraraka from the Zero Pointer.
"You scored a staggering seventy-five villain points," All Might continued, his voice taking on a serious, deeply emotional tone. "A score that would easily grant you admission. However, the true mark of a hero is not how many villains they crush, but how many lives they save. The U.A. entrance exam has a hidden metric. Rescue points!"
The screen showed a panel of judges, all voting.
"For risking your life, and demonstrating unimaginable physical prowess and tactical restraint to protect your fellow examinee... the judges have awarded you sixty rescue points!"
A scoreboard appeared on the screen.
1. Izuku Midoriya - 135 Points.
Izuku’s breath caught in his throat. First place. He hadn't just passed; he had shattered the all-time scoring record.
"Come, Young Midoriya," All Might smiled, extending his holographic hand toward the boy. "This is your Hero Academia."
Izuku stared at the screen, tears welling in his eyes. He clenched his fists, the dorsal ridge on his back shifting slightly under his shirt. He had done it. The beast was fully under his control. He was going to be a hero.
Meanwhile, miles away in the Bakugo household, Katsuki Bakugo was staring at his own holographic acceptance letter.
He had passed. He had scored an incredible seventy-seven villain points, completely dominating his battle center. But as the leaderboard flashed on his screen, his ruby eyes widened in absolute shock and fury.
He was second.
Above him, sitting on an insurmountable throne of 135 points, was Izuku Midoriya.
Bakugo’s hands ignited, small explosions popping from his palms, singing his desk. He bared his teeth, a feral, competitive rage boiling in his veins. The dinosaur hadn't just beaten him; he had humiliated him in the rankings.
"Deku..." Bakugo hissed, the name no longer an insult of weakness, but a curse directed at a rival titan. "I'm going to crush you."
The hierarchy had been established, but the war for the top spot had only just begun. Class 1-A was about to experience the absolute, overwhelming force of the Apex Brawler.
The first day of high school is typically a time of nervous excitement, a clean slate where teenagers can reinvent themselves, forge new friendships, and take their first tentative steps toward adulthood. For Izuku Midoriya, the first day of U.A. High School began the same way every day had for the past ten months: with a staggering, astronomical consumption of calories.
At 5:00 AM, the Midoriya household was filled with the sounds and smells of a commercial kitchen. Izuku sat at the reinforced dining table, currently working his way through his second entire roasted chicken. Beside it sat a mountain of white rice, three dozen scrambled eggs, and a protein shake thick enough to be considered a solid.
"Eat up, sweetie," Inko said, setting down a platter of thickly cut, grilled salmon. She looked at her son with a mixture of immense pride and lingering maternal worry.
Izuku, despite being seated, dominated the room. His fourteen-year-old frame was a marvel of hyper-dense, mutant biology. His shoulders were incredibly broad, his chest deep, and the permanent dorsal ridge running down his spine pressed against the fabric of his custom-tailored white t-shirt. He ate methodically, his jaw working with the mechanical efficiency of a woodchipper.
"Thanks, Mom," Izuku rumbled, his deep baritone voice vibrating in his chest. "I need my reserves absolutely full today. U.A. won't hold back on the first day, especially in the Hero Course."
He finished his meal, kissed his mother on the cheek, and donned his U.A. uniform. The standard grey blazer and green tie had been meticulously altered by a specialist tailor. The back of the blazer featured a discreet, expandable pleated section that allowed his dorsal ridge to sit comfortably without tearing the fabric, and the trousers were heavily reinforced around the thighs to accommodate his massive leg muscles.
The walk to U.A. was quiet, though Izuku could feel the stares of commuters. He was used to it. He walked with perfect posture, his hands loosely clasped at his sides, projecting an aura of calm, disciplined control.
When he finally navigated the labyrinthine halls of U.A. and stood before the massive, fifteen-foot-tall door marked 1-A, he let out a long breath.
This is it. The starting line.
Izuku reached out, his large hand gripping the handle, and slid the door open.
The classroom was already bustling with a diverse array of students, but the noise instantly died down the moment Izuku stepped through the threshold. The sheer physical presence of the boy seemed to suck the air out of the room. He didn't just walk in; he occupied the space, a hulking monolith of muscle and stoic calm.
"Woah," a boy with spiky red hair muttered, his eyes wide. "That guy is built like a Pro."
"Ah! It's you!"
Tenya Iida, the tall, blue-haired boy from the entrance exam, marched over with stiff, robotic strides. He stopped a respectful distance away, looking up slightly to meet Izuku's gaze. "I am Tenya Iida from Somei Private Academy! I must apologize again for my presumptuous behavior during the orientation. You realized the true nature of the practical exam—the rescue points—while I was blindly focused on the villains! You have my utmost respect!"
Izuku offered a warm, polite smile, bowing his head slightly. "It's nice to see you again, Iida. And please, there's no need to apologize. We were all under a lot of pressure."
"Deku-kun!"
Ochaco Uraraka bounced over, her face lighting up. "You made it! I knew you would! That punch... well, that throw you did against the giant robot was the most amazing thing I've ever seen!"
Izuku’s cheeks flushed a deep crimson, his fearsome demeanor instantly melting into the flustered nervousness of a normal teenage boy. "O-Oh! Uraraka! H-Hi! I'm glad you made it too! Are your legs okay? From the rubble?"
Before she could answer, a dark, venomous scoff echoed from the back of the classroom.
Katsuki Bakugo was slouched in his desk, his feet kicked up. He glared at Izuku, his ruby eyes practically burning holes into Izuku's dorsal ridge. The air between them crackled with an intense, unspoken hostility. Bakugo didn't yell. He didn't call Izuku names. The feral silence was somehow much worse, a testament to the undeniable threat he now recognized in his childhood rival.
Izuku met Bakugo’s gaze for a fraction of a second. There was no fear in Izuku’s emerald eyes, only a calm, unwavering acknowledgment.
"If you're just here to make friends, you can pack up your things and leave."
The voice was tired, dry, and seemed to come from the floor.
The class collectively jumped as a man in a bright yellow sleeping bag shimmied through the open doorway like a giant, lethargic caterpillar. He unzipped the bag, stepping out to reveal a gaunt, unkempt man in all black, a grey scarf wrapped around his neck, and eyes that looked like they hadn't seen sleep in a decade.
"It took you lot eight seconds to quiet down," the man said, pulling a juice pouch from his pocket and piercing it with a straw. "Time is limited. You kids are not rational enough. I'm your homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa. Nice to meet you."
The class stared in disbelief. This was a Pro Hero?
Aizawa reached into his sleeping bag and pulled out a set of blue and white P.E. uniforms. "Put these on and head out to the training field. We're doing a Quirk Apprehension Test."
The training field was a massive expanse of perfectly manicured dirt and track lanes, baking under the morning sun. Class 1-A stood in a cluster, wearing their P.E. uniforms. Izuku’s uniform, much like his school clothes, had been specially ordered. The shirt was sleeveless, designed to accommodate the sheer circumference of his biceps, and featured a long, vertical slit down the back, allowing his dorsal ridge to remain unconstricted.
"A Quirk Apprehension Test?!" the class shouted in unison.
"What about the entrance ceremony? The orientation?" Uraraka asked, looking concerned.
"If you're going to become a hero, you don't have time for such leisurely events," Aizawa said flatly, turning his back on them. "U.A.'s selling point is how unrestricted its school traditions are. That's also how the teachers run their classes. You've been doing these fitness tests since junior high, right? Physical tests where you weren't allowed to use your Quirks."
Aizawa held up a small digital device. "The country still uses averages taken from results devoid of Quirks. It's not rational. Bakugo, you finished first in the practical exam, didn't you?"
Izuku stiffened slightly, and a collective murmur rippled through the class. Bakugo had finished first?
"Wait, I thought Midoriya got the highest score?" the red-haired boy, Kirishima, whispered.
"Villain points," Aizawa clarified, shooting a side-eye at Izuku. "Bakugo scored the most combat points. Midoriya secured the absolute highest combined score due to rescue points. But for the sake of raw combat metrics, Bakugo, what was your best softball throw in junior high?"
"Sixty-seven meters," Bakugo scoffed, stepping forward.
"Try doing it with your Quirk." Aizawa tossed him a baseball. "You can do whatever you want as long as you stay in the circle. Hurry up. Give it all you've got."
Bakugo stepped into the pitcher's circle. He stretched his arms, a feral grin spreading across his face. He wound up, his muscles tensing, and threw the ball. As it left his fingertips, he unleashed a massive, concussive explosion.
"DIE!" Bakugo roared.
The ball shot into the sky like a rocket, leaving a trail of black smoke. Aizawa held up his device, waiting for the beep. He turned the screen toward the class.
705.2 Meters.
The class erupted into cheers. "Over seven hundred meters?! That's insane!" "This looks like fun!" "We can finally use our Quirks as much as we want!"
Aizawa’s eyes darkened, the exhaustion bleeding out to reveal a terrifying, predatory intensity. "Fun? You have three years to become heroes. Are you going to have an attitude like that the whole time?"
Aizawa smiled, but it was a cruel, chilling expression. "Alright. Whoever comes in last place in all eight tests will be judged to have no potential, and will be punished with expulsion."
The collective gasp from the students was palpable. Expulsion on the first day?
"We're free to do what we want with the students' circumstances," Aizawa pulled his hair back, revealing his bloodshot eyes. "Welcome to U.A.'s Hero Course."
Izuku didn't flinch. He clenched his fists, feeling the heavy, hyper-dense muscles in his forearms tighten. He's testing our resolve, Izuku thought. He wants to see who cracks under the pressure. I won't crack. I've trained too hard for this.
The tests began immediately.
Test 1: 50-Meter Dash.
Izuku was paired against Bakugo.
"Don't think you can beat me in a race, Deku," Bakugo growled, crouching at the starting line, sparks popping in his palms. "Your giant ass is too heavy to move fast."
Izuku didn't reply. He dropped into a sprinter's stance. He wasn't going to fully transform; the caloric burn would be entirely unnecessary. Instead, he simply tapped into the passive reserves of his dorsal ridge. The thick ridge on his back pulsed, glowing with a faint, bio-luminescent green hue beneath his shirt, pumping explosive kinetic energy directly into his leg muscles.
A robotic voice echoed. On your marks... Get set... Go!
Bakugo launched himself forward using consecutive explosions, flying over the track.
Izuku didn't fly; he bulldozed. He pushed off his back foot with such astronomical force that the dirt track literally cratered beneath his sneaker. He exploded forward, his massive frame moving with a terrifying, predatory speed that defied the laws of aerodynamics. He crossed the finish line a fraction of a second behind Bakugo.
Bakugo: 4.13 seconds.
Midoriya: 4.15 seconds.
Bakugo landed, whirling around, his eyes wide. Izuku was already standing there, casually breathing out a plume of steam, completely unbothered by the sprint. Bakugo gritted his teeth, realizing that Izuku's sheer physical specs were enough to rival his Quirk-enhanced mobility.
Test 2: Grip Strength.
The class gathered around a set of digital dynamometers.
Izuku held the small device in his massive right hand. He didn't activate his Quirk's energy. He simply squeezed using his resting Acrocanthosaurus biology.
The machine beeped rapidly. The numbers on the digital screen skyrocketed: 100 kg... 300 kg... 500 kg... 900 kg...
CRACK.
Izuku blinked. He opened his hand. The heavy-duty plastic and steel of the machine had completely shattered, wires and springs spilling out onto the dirt. The screen was cracked in half, permanently stuck on an ERROR message.
"Ah," Izuku muttered, a bead of sweat dropping down his face. "Excuse me, Mr. Aizawa? I think I broke it."
Aizawa stared at the shattered pieces of metal in the boy's hand. Beside Izuku, a tall boy with multiple arms, Shoji, looked at his own impressive score of 540 kg, and then looked at Izuku in absolute awe.
"I'll order a replacement," Aizawa sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Just... move to the next test."
As the tests continued—the standing long jump, the repeated side steps—it became terrifyingly clear to Class 1-A that Izuku Midoriya was not normal. Even without visibly activating a flashy Quirk, his base physical statistics were off the charts. He was a biological juggernaut.
Finally, it was time for the Softball Throw.
Uraraka stepped up to the plate. Using her Zero Gravity Quirk, she threw the ball. It floated gently into the stratosphere, never coming down. Aizawa's device read: Infinity.
"Infinity?!" the class screamed.
"Alright," Aizawa called out, looking directly at the hulking teenager standing quietly in the back. "Midoriya. You're up."
Izuku walked to the center of the pitching circle. He picked up a softball. It looked like a golf ball in his massive hand.
I need to score high, Izuku calculated. If I just throw it with my arm, I could probably hit eight hundred meters due to my muscle density. But if I use my full biomechanics...
Izuku planted his feet. He took a deep breath, and allowed his Quirk to partially manifest.
The class watched in awe and mild horror as Izuku’s body shifted. Heavy, emerald scales erupted across his arms and legs, reinforcing his skin. His jaw elongated slightly, his teeth sharpening. The dorsal ridge on his back expanded, the green bio-luminescent veins flaring to life, pumping raw kinetic energy into his torso.
But the most drastic change was the sudden, violent eruption of a massive, heavily armored tail from the base of his spine. The heavy appendage slammed into the dirt, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Aizawa’s eyes suddenly flashed red. His hair levitated, defying gravity. He used his Erasure Quirk, staring directly at Izuku.
Izuku felt the glowing energy in his dorsal ridge suddenly fizzle out, like a cord being unplugged. The kinetic power faded. However, the scales, the claws, and the massive tail remained entirely intact.
Izuku turned to look at his teacher, his predatory, amber-slit eyes blinking in confusion.
Aizawa’s scowl deepened, his scarf unwinding slightly. "I was attempting to erase your Quirk. You have the raw power to destroy this entire field, yet you were about to use a localized burst. I wanted to see if you relied solely on explosive output."
Aizawa let his Quirk drop, his hair falling back to his shoulders. "But as expected of a Mutant-class transformation... I can erase your ability to actively generate the kinetic energy, but I cannot erase the physical biological changes your body has already undergone. Your tail, your mass, your scales... they are a permanent part of your physiology once manifested."
Aizawa stepped closer to the circle, his voice dropping to a low, intense whisper meant only for Izuku.
"I watched your entrance exam footage, Midoriya. You possess the destructive power of a high-end villain. You look like a monster, and you hit like a natural disaster. Power like that breeds arrogance, and arrogance gets heroes killed. If you let the beast control your actions, you will become a liability to society."
Aizawa glared up at the towering teenager. "Make sure your mind stays that of a hero. Prove to me you can control that biology."
Izuku stared down at his teacher. He didn't feel insulted; he felt a profound sense of respect. Aizawa was doing his job. He was testing the cage.
Izuku’s expression softened, the feral edge in his eyes replaced by a calm, unwavering resolve. He bowed respectfully, his massive tail curling neatly behind him. "I understand, sir. I will show you my control."
Izuku turned back to the field. He didn't reignite the glowing kinetic energy in his back. He didn't need it. He just needed physics.
He gripped the softball. Instead of winding up his arm like a baseball pitcher, Izuku dropped his center of gravity. He extended his right arm outward, holding the ball, and raised his heavy tail behind him.
He didn't throw with his shoulder; he threw with his entire theropod physiology.
Izuku spun. He executed a flawless, blindingly fast rotational pivot, using his massive tail as a counterbalance to generate catastrophic centrifugal force. He spun a full 360 degrees, the torque building in his hips and spine. As he completed the rotation, he snapped his arm forward, releasing the ball.
BOOM!
The release broke the sound barrier. A visible shockwave of air pressure exploded outward from the pitching circle, blowing the hair back on the surrounding students. The softball didn't just fly; it ignited into a streak of burning plasma due to air friction, vanishing into the clouds in a fraction of a second.
Izuku slowly stood up straight, his tail retracting back into his spine, the scales melting away until he was entirely human again. He let out a polite, measured breath.
Aizawa looked at his device. It beeped.
1,520.4 Meters.
The class was dead silent. They looked from the device, to the sky, to the polite, heavily muscled boy who was currently adjusting his glasses and wiping sweat from his brow.
"Over a kilometer..." a boy with yellow hair and a black lightning bolt streak whispered. "He threw a softball... over a mile..."
Bakugo stood frozen, his hands trembling at his sides. He had used his Quirk—his maximum explosive output—and reached seven hundred meters. Deku had just spun in a circle and doubled it. The gap between them wasn't closing; it was widening.
"Excellent rotational mechanics," Aizawa muttered, showing a rare, almost imperceptible smirk. "You know how to use your weight. Good. Let's move on."
By the end of the day, the results were posted. Izuku stood comfortably in first place, his overwhelming physical dominance securing top marks in almost every category. Bakugo was second. A boy named Mineta came in last, weeping uncontrollably until Aizawa revealed that the expulsion threat was a "rational deception" to draw out their maximum potential.
As the class dispersed to change, Izuku felt a heavy hand on his shoulder. He turned to see Aizawa.
"Your control is adequate, Midoriya," Aizawa said quietly. "But today was just a fitness test. Combat is chaotic. The real test of your mind will be when someone tries to break it."
Izuku nodded seriously. "I won't break, sir."
The true test arrived the very next afternoon.
Class 1-A sat in their homeroom, anticipating their next class. Suddenly, the door flew open with dramatic flair.
"I AM COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!"
All Might, the Symbol of Peace, marched into the room wearing his Silver Age costume—a red, white, and blue spandex suit with a dramatic yellow cape. The class erupted into fanboyish cheers.
Izuku smiled, feeling a surge of pride. That was his mentor.
"Welcome to Hero Basic Training!" All Might boomed, flexing his massive biceps. "The subject where you train in different ways to learn the basics of being a hero! And today, we're doing... BATTLE TRAINING!"
All Might pointed to the wall, where several hidden panels slid open, revealing numbered metal briefcases. "And to go with it, the Hero Costumes you submitted requests for before school started! Get suited up and meet me at Ground Beta!"
Ten minutes later, Class 1-A emerged from the tunnel leading into the mock-city of Ground Beta. They looked incredible, a vibrant assembly of capes, armor, and specialized gear.
Izuku emerged last, his heavy footfalls echoing in the tunnel.
When he stepped into the light, the chatter among the students immediately died down.
Izuku’s hero costume was a masterpiece of tactical brawler engineering, designed by U.A.’s top support companies to withstand and enhance his catastrophic biology.
He wore a dark, forest-green sleeveless combat top made of hyper-tensile, heat-resistant Kevlar. The most prominent feature was the back: it was entirely open from the base of his neck to his tailbone, leaving his massive dorsal ridge exposed so it wouldn't shred his clothes when it expanded and glowed. He wore heavy, black tactical cargo pants with reinforced steel plating around the shins and knees, and massive, steel-toed combat boots designed to anchor him to the pavement. Thick, fingerless black gloves covered his hands, stopping just short of his knuckles to allow his claws to extend freely. Around his waist was a heavy utility belt containing high-calorie nutrition bars.
He didn't wear a cape. He didn't wear a flashy mask. He looked like an underground pit fighter crossed with a military juggernaut.
"Whoa, Midoriya," Kirishima grinned, punching his own hardened fists together. "Your costume is so manly! It looks like you're ready to fight a war!"
"Thanks, Kirishima," Izuku rubbed the back of his neck, his polite demeanor instantly contrasting his warlord appearance. "My Quirk produces a lot of heat, and my body expands significantly, so I needed something that wouldn't restrict my spine."
All Might stood before the class, his eyes locking onto Izuku with immense pride. He cleared his throat.
"Now that you're all suited up, it's time for the Battle Trial! The situation is this: the villains have hidden a nuclear weapon somewhere in their hideout. The heroes must foil their plans. You will be split into teams of two. Heroes must either capture the villains with capture tape, or secure the nuclear weapon. Villains must protect the weapon or capture the heroes!"
All Might held up a lottery box. "Teams will be drawn by lots!"
Izuku watched intently as the teams were formed. He was placed on Team A.
"Team A will be Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka!" All Might announced.
"Yay! We're a team, Midoriya!" Uraraka cheered, pumping her fist in the air. Izuku smiled, nodding down at her.
"And Team D..." All Might pulled the next balls. "Katsuki Bakugo and Tenya Iida!"
Izuku’s breath hitched. His eyes instantly snapped across the crowd, locking directly onto Bakugo.
Bakugo was already staring at him. The blonde boy’s ruby eyes were wide, a terrifying, borderline psychotic grin stretching across his face. The veins in Bakugo's neck were bulging. He wasn't looking at a classmate. He was looking at his white whale. He was looking at the monster he had to slay to prove he was the absolute best.
"For our first match!" All Might pointed dramatically. "Team A will be the Heroes, and Team D will be the Villains! Villains, you have five minutes to enter the building and set up your defenses. Heroes, you will infiltrate after!"
The rest of the class was ushered to the monitoring room, leaving the four students standing outside a massive, multi-story concrete building.
Bakugo and Iida walked into the building. Bakugo didn't say a word, his silence radiating pure, concentrated malice.
Outside, Izuku unspooled a long roll of white capture tape. He handed half of it to Uraraka.
"Okay, Uraraka, here's the plan," Izuku said, his voice dropping an octave, slipping into a terrifyingly calm, tactical cadence. "Bakugo is not going to guard the weapon. He doesn't care about the objective. He only cares about one thing: me."
Uraraka blinked, intimidated by the sudden shift in Izuku's demeanor. He no longer sounded like the flustered boy from the classroom; he sounded like a seasoned commander. "You think he's going to come looking for you?"
"I guarantee it," Izuku nodded, adjusting his heavy gloves. "He has an explosive Quirk and a highly aggressive combat style. When we go in, I want you to split off. Find the weapon, and find Iida. Iida will likely play the role of a villain perfectly, guarding the payload. I will intercept Bakugo and keep him occupied."
"Are you sure, Midoriya?" Uraraka asked, worried. "Bakugo's explosions are really strong..."
Izuku looked up at the towering concrete building. He let out a slow breath, feeling the Acrocanthosaurus stirring in his blood, eager for the hunt.
"I'll be fine," Izuku said softly. "I've been preparing for this fight for ten years."
A buzzer echoed through the fake city.
HERO TEAM, INFILTRATE!
Izuku and Uraraka slipped through a first-floor window. The interior of the building was a labyrinth of concrete corridors and dim lighting. They moved silently, Izuku's heavy boots making surprisingly little noise as he applied his martial arts footwork, rolling his weight from heel to toe.
They reached a cross-section of hallways.
"Go," Izuku whispered, pointing up the stairwell. "I'll take the main corridor."
Uraraka nodded, using her Quirk to make herself light, silently floating up the stairwell.
Izuku turned and began walking down the center of the wide, concrete corridor. He didn't try to hide. He walked with his chest puffed out, his dorsal ridge pulsing slightly. He was projecting his presence, making himself bait.
He didn't have to wait long.
From around the far corner, a faint, familiar smell hit Izuku’s enhanced olfactory senses. Burnt sugar. Sulfur.
Above, Izuku’s instincts screamed.
Izuku didn't look up. He instantly dropped his center of gravity and threw his massive arms up in a cross-guard, activating a Partial Transformation.
Thick, emerald scales erupted rapidly over his forearms and face. The dorsal ridge on his back flared with blinding green light, instantly hyper-densifying the muscles in his arms to the consistency of titanium.
From the ceiling shadows, Bakugo launched himself using a massive explosion, hurtling downward like a human missile, his right hand pulled back for a devastating right hook.
"DIE, DEKU!" Bakugo shrieked.
The explosion struck Izuku directly. Flames and concussive force washed over the corridor, shattering the nearby windows and filling the hall with thick, black smoke.
In the monitor room, the class gasped.
"A surprise attack from above?!" Kirishima yelled. "That's so unmanly, but incredibly effective!"
"Midoriya!" Uraraka yelled over the comms.
The smoke in the corridor slowly began to clear, blown away by a sudden, heavy gust of wind.
Bakugo landed on the concrete, panting slightly, a feral grin on his face. He looked up, expecting to see the giant boy on the ground, groaning in pain.
Instead, a massive, scaly hand reached out through the smoke and casually swatted the remaining fumes away.
Izuku stood in the exact same spot. He hadn't been pushed back a single inch. His arms were crossed defensively over his face, the emerald scales slightly singed but entirely unbroken. His uniform was immaculate.
Izuku slowly lowered his arms, revealing his golden, slit-pupiled eyes. He looked at Bakugo not with anger, but with a terrifying, absolute calm.
"A right hook," Izuku rumbled, his voice echoing in the concrete hall. "You always lead with a right hook, Kacchan. I've watched you fight for ten years."
Bakugo’s grin vanished, replaced by an expression of pure, unadulterated rage. "Shut up! You think a few scales are gonna save you?! I'm gonna blast that stupid ridge off your back!"
Bakugo lunged. He was incredibly fast, using micro-explosions from his palms to propel himself forward in a jagged, unpredictable zig-zag pattern. He closed the distance in a fraction of a second, swinging his left hand for a low blast aimed at Izuku's exposed ribs.
Izuku didn't try to dodge. His body was too large, too heavy for rapid evasion in a tight corridor. Instead, he utilized his brawling mastery.
Izuku stepped into the attack. He used his heavily armored left forearm to swat Bakugo's explosive hand aside just as it detonated, the blast redirecting harmlessly into the concrete wall. Simultaneously, Izuku shot his right hand forward, his massive, clawed fingers gripping Bakugo's combat vest at the shoulder.
Bakugo's eyes widened. He parried it?!
Izuku pivoted his hips, utilizing his immense core strength and the hyper-dense mass of his upper body. He used Bakugo's own forward momentum against him, executing a flawless, brutal Judo hip-throw.
Izuku hurled Bakugo over his shoulder. The blonde boy slammed into the concrete floor with bone-rattling force, leaving a spider-web crater in the stone.
"GAAHK!" Bakugo coughed, the wind entirely knocked out of his lungs.
Before Bakugo could recover, Izuku stepped over him, raising his massive, scaly right boot, preparing to stomp down and pin the boy to the floor.
Bakugo, fueled by pure adrenaline and wounded pride, unleashed a point-blank double-palm explosion straight up into Izuku's chest. The blast was massive, momentarily blinding Izuku and forcing him to take a half-step backward to maintain his balance.
Bakugo scrambled away, propelling himself down the corridor, panting heavily. His shoulder throbbed. He looked at Izuku, who was simply brushing soot off his chest, completely unfazed.
Nothing is working, Bakugo's mind raced, a terrifying realization creeping into his consciousness. I hit him point-blank. I hit him with everything. And he's just... brushing it off. He's a wall. A giant, scaly wall.
"You're fast, Kacchan," Izuku said calmly, rolling his massive shoulders. "Your combat instincts are incredible. But blunt force and concussive blasts aren't going to work against a mutant biology designed to withstand thousands of tons of pressure."
"SHUT UP!" Bakugo screamed, his voice cracking with hysteria. "Don't lecture me! Don't look down on me! I'm the best! I'm going to be Number One! I just need more firepower!"
Bakugo raised his right arm, pointing the massive, grenade-shaped gauntlet directly at Izuku. He reached for the pin with his left hand.
In the monitor room, All Might grabbed the microphone, his eyes widening in horror. "Young Bakugo, stop! Are you trying to kill him?! If you use that gauntlet indoors, the structural integrity of the building will fail!"
"If he doesn't dodge, he won't die!" Bakugo roared back, his finger hooking the metal pin.
Izuku’s golden eyes narrowed. He rapidly calculated the variables. If Bakugo fired that blast, and Izuku dodged, the explosion would travel down the corridor, potentially compromising the load-bearing pillars and collapsing the building on top of Uraraka, who was upstairs.
Izuku couldn't dodge. He had to extinguish the threat.
"Uraraka," Izuku spoke rapidly into his earpiece. "Secure the weapon now. Hold onto a pillar."
"Deku?! What's happening?!"
Izuku didn't answer. He dropped his earpiece, crushing it under his boot. He assumed a wide, deeply anchored stance. He didn't just partially transform this time; he pushed his biology to the absolute brink of his human restraint.
The scales thickened, covering his entire torso and face. His jaw expanded into a terrifying maw. The dorsal ridge on his back erupted with a blinding, radioactive green light, pulsing with such intense kinetic energy that the concrete beneath Izuku's boots began to melt. A massive, heavily armored tail slammed into the floor behind him, anchoring him to the earth.
"DIE!" Bakugo screamed, ripping the pin from the gauntlet.
A torrent of pure, condensed, super-heated fire and concussive force erupted from the gauntlet. It wasn't an explosion; it was a continuous beam of apocalyptic destruction that filled the entire corridor, vaporizing the drywall and melting the steel rebars.
The class in the monitor room screamed, shielding their eyes from the blinding flash on the screens.
The inferno struck Izuku Midoriya.
But Izuku did not burn. And he did not yield.
Output: Maximum Absorption. Forward Drive.
Izuku let out a deafening, theropod roar that was swallowed by the roar of the explosion. Using the hyper-dense, kinetic-absorbing properties of his glowing dorsal ridge, he took the brunt of the blast head-on. The heat was agonizing, his scales groaning under the thermal pressure, but the kinetic force simply fed his biological engine.
To Bakugo's absolute, soul-crushing horror, a massive, glowing green silhouette emerged from the center of the flames.
Izuku wasn't just surviving the blast; he was walking through it.
The heavy, rhythmic THUD, THUD, THUD of Izuku's steel-toed boots echoed like a death knell beneath the roar of the fire. He moved with the unstoppable, terrifying inevitability of a glacier. He raised his massive arms, parting the flames like Moses parting the Red Sea.
"No..." Bakugo whispered, his gauntlet sputtering as it ran out of sweat. "No, no, no! Stay back! STAY BACK!"
Bakugo unleashed a flurry of panicked, rapid-fire explosions with his left hand, blasting Izuku directly in the face.
Izuku didn't even blink. He burst through the final veil of smoke, a towering, seven-foot nightmare of glowing green muscle and impenetrable scales.
Bakugo tried to jump back, but he was too slow.
Izuku lunged. His massive left hand shot forward, wrapping entirely around Bakugo's waist. His right hand clamped down on Bakugo's right wrist, the one attached to the gauntlet.
Izuku lifted the screeching blonde boy off the ground entirely. He rotated his hips, driving his body weight forward, and slammed Bakugo back-first into the concrete floor.
CRACK.
Izuku followed him down, seamlessly transitioning into an inescapable, high-level MMA grappling hold. He locked his massive, heavily armored legs around Bakugo's torso in a brutal body scissors, constricting his breathing. Simultaneously, Izuku pinned Bakugo's right arm to the floor, isolating the wrist and applying a terrifying Kimura lock. Izuku's massive left hand clamped down on Bakugo's left wrist, pinning it above his head.
Bakugo was completely, utterly immobilized. He was pinned to the concrete beneath nearly four hundred pounds of hyper-dense, reptilian muscle. The sheer physical disparity was absolute.
Bakugo thrashed. He screamed. He tried to ignite sparks in his palms, but Izuku’s grip was so astronomically tight that Bakugo couldn't even flex his fingers. Every time Bakugo struggled, Izuku simply tightened the Kimura lock a fraction of a millimeter, the threat of snapping the bone implicitly clear.
"Let me go!" Bakugo shrieked, tears of pure frustration and humiliation spilling from his eyes. "Let me go, you giant freak! Fight me! Blast me!"
Izuku hovered over him. The blinding green light of his dorsal ridge slowly faded. The scales receded, melting back into pale skin. The jaw snapped back to normal.
Izuku Midoriya looked down at his childhood bully. His emerald eyes were not angry. They were filled with a profound, terrifying pity.
"I don't need to blast you, Kacchan," Izuku said, his voice quiet, calm, and utterly dominant. "I don't need to hurt you to beat you. A hero restrains. A hero controls. You have an incredible Quirk, Kacchan. But right now... you're just throwing a tantrum."
Bakugo stared up at Izuku, his ruby eyes wide, his lips trembling. The absolute, soul-crushing reality crashed down upon him. He hadn't just lost a fight. He had been completely, physically dismantled without the other person even throwing a single punch. Deku hadn't struck him once. He had parried, thrown, and pinned him. He had treated the great Katsuki Bakugo like a toddler throwing a tantrum.
Bakugo stopped struggling. His body went limp against the concrete, a ragged, broken sob escaping his throat.
Beep.
"U-Um, Midoriya?" Uraraka's voice crackled over the intercom, sounding slightly out of breath. "I captured Iida with the tape! We secured the weapon!"
"HERO TEAM WINS!" All Might's voice boomed over the speakers, though it lacked its usual boisterous energy, replaced by a tone of profound awe.
Izuku immediately released his grip. He stood up, towering over Bakugo, and offered his large, calloused hand.
Bakugo didn't take it. He rolled over, slowly pushing himself up to his knees, his head hanging low, his blonde hair shadowing his eyes. He didn't say a word.
Izuku withdrew his hand, nodding respectfully, and began walking down the corridor toward the exit.
When Izuku returned to the monitor room, the class parted for him like the Red Sea. They looked at him with a mixture of reverence and lingering fear. He hadn't just won; he had demonstrated a level of combat proficiency and raw, terrifying power that belonged in the top ten Pro Hero rankings, not a high school classroom.
"Midoriya, my boy," All Might said, stepping forward. "That was... an intense display. You took a massive risk tanking that gauntlet blast."
"I calculated the structural integrity of the corridor, sir," Izuku replied, bowing his head. "If I had dodged, the concussive force would have compromised the pillars and collapsed the ceiling. Tanking it and utilizing a grappling pin was the safest way to neutralize the threat without causing severe injury to my opponent."
"He's right," Momo Yaoyorozu, a tall girl with a ponytail, spoke up, her eyes shining with analytical respect. "Midoriya's actions were flawless. He understood his biological limits and utilized them perfectly to protect the environment. More impressively, despite Bakugo's lethal force, Midoriya exercised extreme restraint. He used martial arts to subdue, not destroy. That is the true essence of a hero."
Kirishima pumped his fist, tears in his eyes. "It was so manly! You're like an unbreakable wall, Midoriya!"
As the class surrounded Izuku, praising his brawling style and tactical mind, the door to the monitor room slowly slid open.
Bakugo stood in the doorway. He looked entirely defeated. The explosive, arrogant aura that usually surrounded him was gone, leaving behind a hollow, shattered teenager.
He didn't look at the class. He didn't look at All Might. He kept his eyes fixed on the floor, walking silently to the back of the room and slumping against the wall.
Izuku watched him out of the corner of his eye.
The hierarchy had been irrevocably established. The king of the playground had been violently overthrown by the apex predator.
But Izuku didn't feel a sense of vindictive triumph. He knew Kacchan. The blonde boy's pride was entirely shattered, but Izuku knew that an explosion needed pressure to build. Bakugo wouldn't stay broken. He would rebuild himself. He would come back stronger, faster, and more vicious.
Izuku clenched his massive fist, feeling the dorsal ridge on his back twitch in anticipation.
I'll be waiting, Kacchan, Izuku thought, a small, confident smile touching his lips. I'll stand at the top of this mountain, and I'll push you to be the hero you're meant to be.
The Apex Brawler had claimed his throne in Class 1-A. The rest of the world was next.
