What If Deku Had an Overpowered Dilophosaurus Quirk for Venomous Predator Combat

There was a fundamental truth to the animal kingdom that human society, with all its steel cities and digital screens, had largely forgotten: the hierarchy of the food chain is absolute.

Izuku Midoriya learned this truth not from a textbook, but from the sudden, terrifying rewiring of his own biology.

It happened on a sweltering July afternoon when he was four years old. The cicadas were screaming in the trees surrounding the local neighborhood park, a rhythmic, deafening buzz that seemed to vibrate in Izuku’s small chest. He stood beneath the dappled shade of an old oak tree, his small arms outstretched, trembling as he placed himself between a crying boy on the dirt and Katsuki Bakugo.

"That's mean, Kacchan," Izuku stammered, tears pricking the corners of his large, round eyes. "C-can't you see he's crying? If you keep going... I-I'll stop you myself!"

Katsuki, flanked by his two lackeys, merely smirked. Small, crackling explosions popped in the palms of his hands, smelling sharply of burnt sugar and ozone. "You? Stop me? Don't make me laugh, Izuku. You don't even have a Quirk yet."

Katsuki lunged.

For a normal four-year-old, the ensuing moment would have been a blur of pain and tears. But as Katsuki’s fist, sparking with heat and kinetic energy, closed the distance, something inside Izuku snapped.

It wasn't a metaphorical break; it was a physical, biological trigger. A dormant sequence in his DNA, a genetic throwback to the Jurassic era mixed with aggressive modern mutation, violently awoke.

Time seemed to dilate. The world plunged into stark, contrasting hues. Izuku’s emerald eyes, previously wide and innocent, suddenly constricted. The round pupils snapped into razor-thin, vertical slits. A sensation of intense, boiling heat surged up his throat, tasting strongly of copper and battery acid.

His jaw unhinged slightly, far wider than a human mouth should open, revealing rows of small, needle-sharp teeth. But the most terrifying change was the flesh on either side of his neck. With a sound like tearing silk, twin flaps of thick, ribbed cartilage erupted from his collarbone to the base of his skull, flaring outwards to create a massive, two-foot-wide neck frill.

The frill was breathtakingly beautiful and utterly horrifying—a vibrant, hypnotic tapestry of neon green, warning-sign yellow, and blood red, patterned with two massive "eye spots" designed by nature for one singular purpose: to induce absolute, paralyzing terror.

Katsuki froze mid-lunge. The primal part of his brain—the ancient, mammalian instinct that told early humans to hide from the monsters in the dark—screamed at him. His explosions sputtered out. His crimson eyes went wide with a terror so profound he couldn't even draw breath to scream. The biological EMP of Izuku’s frill had triggered a complete fear-induced paralysis.

Izuku didn't know what he was doing. His consciousness was entirely submerged beneath a tidal wave of predator instinct. He drew his head back, an unearthly, guttural hiss vibrating through his chest, and violently snapped his head forward.

A concentrated glob of luminous green fluid shot from a specialized gland under his tongue.

It missed Katsuki’s face by mere inches, sailing past his ear to strike the thick trunk of the oak tree behind him.

HSSSSSSS!

The reaction was instantaneous. The acidic venom struck the bark and immediately began to devour it. Noxious white smoke billowed into the humid summer air as the acid chewed through bark, cambium, and heartwood in seconds, leaving a bubbling, blackened crater the size of a bowling ball straight through the ancient tree.

Silence descended on the playground. Even the cicadas seemed to have stopped.

Katsuki fell backward into the dirt, trembling violently, his eyes locked on the smoking hole in the tree, then slowly trailing back to the monster standing before him.

Izuku blinked. The vibrant frill suddenly collapsed, folding neatly against the sides of his neck until it looked like nothing more than a raised, scaly collar. His slit pupils widened back into circles. The boiling heat in his throat subsided, replaced by a sudden, intense wave of exhaustion that drove him to his knees.

He looked at Katsuki’s terrified face, then at the melting tree.

"K-Kacchan...?" Izuku whispered, his voice raspy.

But Katsuki scrambled backward, kicking up dirt in his desperation to get away. "Monster!" Katsuki shrieked, the word tearing from his throat before he turned and bolted, his lackeys already long gone.

Izuku sat in the dirt, entirely alone, a thin trail of smoke rising from his lips. He was four years old, and he had just established himself as the undisputed apex predator of his world.

Dr. Tsubasa adjusted his glasses, his eyes scanning the incredibly complex biometric readout on his monitor. He looked over the top of his screen at Inko Midoriya, who was nervously wringing her hands, and then at young Izuku, who was currently asleep on the examination table, a specialized thermometer resting in his mouth.

"Mrs. Midoriya," the doctor began, his tone a mixture of clinical fascination and grave concern. "Your son’s Quirk is... unprecedented. It is a highly complex Mutant/Emitter hybrid."

"Is he going to be okay, Doctor?" Inko asked, her voice trembling. "Since the incident at the playground, he’s been so tired, and he keeps complaining that the lights are too bright."

"His body is adapting to extreme physiological changes," Dr. Tsubasa explained, pulling up a 3D scan of Izuku’s skull and neck. "We are tentatively classifying his Quirk as 'Venomous Apex'. Physiologically, he has taken on the traits of a theropod dinosaur—specifically, traits heavily dramatized and mutated from a Dilophosaurus."

The doctor pointed to the screen. "He has developed a retractable, cartilaginous frill along his neck. When flared, it flushes with blood, creating those vibrant colors. We believe the frill also emits a low-frequency bio-electric wave that directly stimulates the amygdala—the fear center of the brain—in anyone looking at it. It is a biological stun grenade."

Inko gasped, covering her mouth.

"Furthermore," the doctor continued, his expression grim. "His visual cortex has mutated. He now possesses a dual-layered retina, granting him thermal vision to track heat signatures. His musculature, particularly in his legs and jaw, is becoming incredibly dense. And then, there is the venom."

Dr. Tsubasa slid a glass vial across the desk. Inside, a neutralized sample of Izuku’s green saliva sat inert. "He possesses modified salivary glands capable of synthesizing incredibly complex chemical compounds on the fly. Depending on his emotional state, diet, and physiological intent, he can produce anything from a mild paralytic neurotoxin to a hyper-corrosive acid capable of melting industrial steel. He can spit it over ten meters, or coat his newly developed retractable claws in it."

Tears spilled over Inko’s cheeks. "He's just a little boy. Why... why such a violent Quirk?"

Dr. Tsubasa sighed. "Quirks are a lottery of genetics, Mrs. Midoriya. But I must be frank with you. Society is not kind to Quirks of this nature. It is inherently lethal. It is designed for hunting, killing, and devouring. He will face an uphill battle. You must teach him ironclad control, or the authorities will treat him not as a citizen, but as a dangerous beast."

Those words became the defining ethos of Izuku Midoriya’s life.

Growing up with the Venomous Apex Quirk was a waking nightmare of sensory overload and societal alienation. By the time Izuku was eight, the neighborhood had ostracized him. Parents would pull their children to the other side of the street when they saw his untamed green hair and the thick, scale-like ridges that ran down the sides of his neck. They saw the slit pupils that tracked their movements with unnerving, predatory precision.

He was labeled a villain in the making. A monster.

To combat this, Izuku plunged himself into academia with a ferocity that matched his biology. If his body was a weapon of mass destruction, his mind would be the safety lock.

His bedroom, once plastered solely with All Might posters, became a laboratory. He didn't just study hero fights; he studied organic chemistry, herpetology, toxicology, and anatomy. He needed to understand his venom to control it. He discovered that by eating specific foods—highly alkaline diets, rich in calcium and complex proteins—he could neutralize his own acid, ensuring he wouldn't accidentally melt a hole through his desk if he sneezed.

He learned to suppress the instinctual urge to chase things that ran. When a stray cat darted across his path, his leg muscles would coil, his thermal vision would flare, and a low hiss would rattle in his chest. It took monumental willpower to force those instincts down, to take deep breaths, and to remind himself: I am Izuku Midoriya. I am going to be a hero who saves people with a smile.

Even if his smile was filled with razor-sharp teeth.

Ten years after the awakening. Aldera Junior High.

Izuku sat at his desk in the back of the classroom, quietly sketching a chemical compound in his heavily battered notebook, titled Hero Analysis for the Future, Vol. 13.

He cut a striking, intimidating figure, despite his best efforts to slouch and make himself small. At fourteen, the physical demands of his Quirk had carved his body into lean, corded muscle. To fuel his venom production and immense cellular density, he consumed upwards of ten thousand calories a day. He wore a specialized, heavy-duty black medical mask over his nose and mouth—a mandated support item by the school board to prevent "accidental toxic discharge."

"So, as third-year students, it's time to start thinking seriously about your futures!" the homeroom teacher announced, slapping a stack of papers on his desk. "But who am I kidding? You're all aiming for the hero course, right?!"

The classroom erupted in cheers, students showing off their minor Quirks.

"Yes, yes, you all have wonderful Quirks," the teacher said. "But no using them in school! Oh, Bakugo, you're going for U.A. High, aren't you?"

Katsuki Bakugo leaned back in his chair, resting his feet on the desk. "Don't lump me in with these extras, teach. I'm going to be the only one from this crappy middle school to make it into U.A. I'm going to surpass All Might and become the top hero!"

"Oh, Midoriya, didn't you apply for U.A. as well?" the teacher noted, looking at his clipboard.

The classroom instantly went dead silent. No one laughed. No one dared.

Instead, the students instinctively leaned away from Izuku. They all remembered the time a bully had cornered Izuku in the first year, and Izuku had accidentally flared his frill. The bully had been completely paralyzed for three hours, requiring a hospital visit to calm his overloaded nervous system.

Katsuki froze, his feet slowly dropping from his desk. He turned around, his crimson eyes locking onto Izuku. There was anger there, yes, but deep beneath it—buried under years of ego and pride—was a primal, lingering wariness. Katsuki was an apex predator in his own right, but he knew, instinctively, that if it came down to a fight to the death, the silent boy in the back of the room could melt the flesh from his bones before he could even raise his hands.

Izuku didn't look up from his notebook. He just kept writing. I won't provoke him. I won't let the instincts win.

After class, as Izuku was packing his bag, a shadow fell over his desk. Katsuki stood there, flanked by two lackeys who were standing a very safe distance behind him.

Katsuki snatched the notebook from Izuku's hands. "Hero Analysis? Still playing pretend, Deku?"

Izuku looked up. His slit pupils expanded slightly, adjusting to the lighting. Behind his black mask, his jaw tightened. "Give it back, Kacchan."

"You think just because you're a freak of nature, you can be a hero?" Katsuki sneered, though he kept his distance, his palms sparking slightly. "A hero who spits acid? Who looks like a villain from a horror movie? The public will hate you. You’ll probably end up a villain anyway once your instincts take over."

Katsuki brought his hands together, slamming an explosion into the notebook, burning the cover. He tossed it out the open window.

Izuku’s hands gripped the edge of his desk. The cheap wood splintered under his grip as his fingernails involuntarily extended into two-inch, curved talons. A low, vibrating trill—like a massive engine idling—emanated from his chest. The temperature in the room seemed to drop. The ribbed folds of skin along his neck twitched, threatening to flare.

Katsuki took half a step back, his breath hitching.

Izuku closed his eyes. He focused on his heartbeat, forcing it to slow. He retracted his claws, the sharp keratin sliding back into his fingertips with a soft snick. He stood up, grabbed his yellow backpack, and walked past Katsuki without a word.

He didn't need to fight. He knew who he was.

Walking home, Izuku took the long route, heading toward an underpass to retrieve his notebook from the koi pond below.

The air was heavy and humid. Izuku pulled down his mask slightly to breathe in the scents of the city. His olfactory senses were incredibly acute; he could smell the exhaust of cars three streets over, the distinct scent of ozone left behind by a nearby electrical transformer, and... something else.

Sewage. Rot. Stagnant water.

Izuku stopped at the entrance of the dark underpass. He clicked his tongue softly. His vision instantly shifted. The standard spectrum of light washed away, replaced by the deep blues, vibrant purples, and radiant oranges of thermal imaging.

The concrete walls of the tunnel were a cool, ambient blue. But clinging to the ceiling, right above the center of the walkway, was a massive, shifting blob of dull orange heat. It didn't have a normal skeletal structure. It was amorphous, radiating a lukewarm, unnatural temperature.

An ambush, Izuku’s mind supplied instantly.

He didn't panic. The cold, calculating machinery of his predator mind took over. The entity was liquid-based. High viscosity. Likely reliant on suffocation or internal drowning to subdue prey.

Izuku casually took a step into the tunnel, acting oblivious.

"A medium-sized meat suit..." a gurgling, wet voice echoed as the Sludge Villain detached from the ceiling, dropping down like a tidal wave of toxic mud. "Just what I need to hide from him!"

As the sludge fell, Izuku moved.

His leg muscles, capable of propelling him incredible distances, contracted and fired like coiled springs. In a fraction of a second, Izuku didn't just step back; he launched himself backward, entirely out of the tunnel, landing gracefully on his hands and feet in a low, quadrupedal stance.

The Sludge Villain slammed into the concrete where Izuku had just been. Two large eyes and a jagged mouth formed in the muck. "What the? You're fast, kid! But you can't outrun a fluid!"

The villain lashed out with a massive tendril of sludge.

Izuku didn't run. He reached up and completely removed his black mask, dropping it to the ground.

He analyzed the smell. The sludge was highly acidic, judging by the sulfurous odor. To counter an acid, you need a strong base.

Izuku’s salivary glands went into overdrive. He altered the pH of his venom, synthesizing an ultra-concentrated, highly alkaline solvent—essentially, weaponized, hyper-caustic lye.

His chest expanded as he drew in a massive breath. The flaps on his neck flared slightly, just enough to open his airways fully. He unhinged his jaw, let out a piercing hiss, and spat.

A massive, pressurized stream of milky-white fluid struck the incoming tendril of sludge.

The chemical reaction was violent and instantaneous. Saponification. The alkaline solvent hit the acidic sludge and immediately began turning the villain's lipid-based structure into a foaming, useless soap.

"AGH! WHAT IS THIS?!" the villain shrieked, recoiling in absolute agony as a third of his body mass curdled into a stiff, white foam that crumbled away. "MY BODY! IT BURNS!"

Izuku stood up, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, his slit pupils fixed on the villain. "Your cellular structure is highly unstable," Izuku said calmly, his voice slightly raspy. "If you come near me again, I will aim for your optical nerves and permanently dissolve them. Surrender."

Before the villain could make a choice, the manhole cover behind them blasted into the air with the force of a bomb.

"FEAR NOT, CITIZEN!" a booming voice echoed, a massive shadow blocking out the sun. "FOR I AM HERE!"

Izuku gasped, his predator instincts completely short-circuiting as his hero-fanboy persona rushed to the forefront. "A-All Might?!"

The massive Pro Hero took one look at the foaming, screaming Sludge Villain, then at the terrifying, reptilian teenager wiping his mouth. All Might blinked, momentary confusion crossing his face, before he sprang into action.

"TEXAS SMASH!"

The wind pressure generated by All Might’s punch completely scattered the remaining sludge, leaving the villain unconscious in a splatter of muck and foam.

Izuku was starstruck. He watched in awe as All Might quickly collected the villain into a pair of large soda bottles.

"THANK YOU FOR WEAKENING HIM, YOUNG MAN!" All Might boomed, giving Izuku a thumbs up. "THAT WAS SOME QUICK THINKING! THOUGH, YOUR QUIRK IS QUITE... INTENSE!"

"All Might!" Izuku fumbled, picking up his notebook from the edge of the pond. "C-Could I get an autograph? And I have so many questions! You see, I'm aiming for U.A. High, but my Quirk is considered highly lethal, and I'm trying to find ways to subdue villains without permanently maiming them, and—"

"I APOLOGIZE, YOUNG MAN, BUT I AM ON A TIGHT SCHEDULE!" All Might said, patting his pockets. He snatched the notebook, signed it at hyper-speed, and tossed it back. "A PRO HERO'S WORK IS NEVER DONE! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, AND PERHAPS SEEK OUT RESCUE WORK IF COMBAT IS TOO RISKY FOR YOUR QUIRK!"

Before Izuku could process the slight dismissal, All Might bent his knees and launched himself into the sky, disappearing over the cityscape.

Izuku stood there, the signed notebook in his hands. Rescue work? He looked at his claws, the remnants of alkaline venom still sizzling lightly on his fingertips. You don't use a Dilophosaurus to pull people out of rubble.

He sighed, securing his mask back over his face. He began the walk home, his mind buzzing with equations and tactical scenarios.

Ten minutes later, the scent of smoke hit him.

Izuku stopped dead in his tracks on a busy sidewalk. It wasn't just smoke; it was the acrid, chemical smell of burning plastics, mixed with the unmistakable, sweet tang of burnt caramel.

Explosions. Kacchan.

His thermal vision involuntarily flickered on. Through the buildings, about four blocks away, a massive bloom of heat was expanding.

Izuku didn't think. He ran.

He dropped onto all fours, his powerful leg muscles propelling him forward at terrifying speeds. He weaved through the pedestrian traffic like a jaguar, a green blur that left gusts of wind in his wake.

When he arrived at the Tatoin Shopping District, a crowd had formed. Pro heroes—Death Arms, Kamui Woods, Mt. Lady, and Backdraft—were standing behind a barricade of fire, looking helpless.

In the center of the inferno was the Sludge Villain.

He must have dropped the bottle, Izuku realized, his heart hammering against his ribs.

But that wasn't what made Izuku's blood run cold. Suspended in the suffocating muck, struggling violently and setting off massive, uncontrolled explosions, was Katsuki Bakugo.

"We can't get close!" Death Arms shouted, shielding his face from the heat. "The kid's explosions are creating a minefield, and my Quirk is useless against fluid!"

"I need a two-lane road for my Quirk!" Mt. Lady groaned, trapped by the narrow streets.

"Wood and fire don't mix!" Kamui Woods gritted his teeth. "We have to wait for someone with a suitable Quirk!"

Izuku stared through the flames. He saw Katsuki’s face. The arrogance was gone. The bravado was gone. Katsuki's eyes were wide, desperate, and pleading for breath. He was dying.

We have to wait? Izuku's mind echoed.

In nature, hesitation meant death.

Before Izuku’s conscious mind could process what he was doing, his backpack hit the ground. He burst through the crowd, past the shouting Pro Heroes, and charged directly into the inferno.

"Hey! Kid, stop! You'll die!" Death Arms roared.

Izuku didn't hear him. The heat of the flames was nothing compared to the furnace burning inside his own biology. His predator instincts—the ancient urge to hunt, to dominate, to kill—rose like a tidal wave, but for the first time in his life, he didn't suppress them. He grabbed them, wrestled them into submission, and aimed them like a weapon.

I won't be a monster. I will be a hero.

Izuku leapt.

His leg muscles fired with the force of a hydraulic press. He didn't just run; he vaulted through the air, soaring a full twenty feet off the ground, arcing directly over the sea of flames.

"YOU AGAIN?!" The Sludge Villain roared, looking up at the silhouette blocking out the sun.

Mid-air, Izuku’s hands reached up and ripped the black mask from his face.

Then, he unleashed his Quirk.

With a sickening, wet tear, the massive frill erupted from his neck. It spanned nearly three feet across, a horrifyingly beautiful display of luminescent greens and crimsons. The massive "eye spots" on the frill seemed to glare directly into the Sludge Villain's soul.

Izuku let out a roar—a sound that didn't belong in a modern city. It was a guttural, rattling shriek that vibrated the very air, carrying the bio-electric frequency of pure, distilled terror.

The effect was immediate. The crowd gasped in horror. The Pro Heroes froze, cold sweat instantly beading on their necks as their primal brains told them to flee. The Sludge Villain’s eyes dilated in absolute, paralyzing fear. His fluid body seized up, going rigid as his nervous system overloaded.

Even Katsuki, despite suffocating, went completely still, staring up at the terrifying beast descending upon them.

Izuku didn't waste a millisecond. While in free-fall, his tongue flicked over his venom glands. No acid. No solvent. Paralytic neurotoxin. Fast-acting. High concentration.

He snapped his head forward and spat.

A stream of clear, viscous fluid shot through the air with the speed of a bullet. It struck the Sludge Villain directly in his massive, unblinking right eye.

"GAAAAAHH!" the villain tried to scream, but the neurotoxin absorbed through his ocular membrane in less than a second. His entire body locked up, the fluid turning into a heavy, unresponsive jelly.

Izuku landed hard on the Sludge Villain's mass. His claws extended, gleaming like surgical steel. He plunged his hands into the paralyzed sludge, his thermal vision pinpointing Katsuki’s exact location within the muck.

With a vicious, tearing motion, Izuku ripped the sludge apart, grabbing Katsuki by the collar of his school uniform and hauling him out of the villain's body.

Izuku landed on the asphalt a few feet away, dragging Katsuki behind him, chest heaving. His frill was still fully flared, pulsing with color, and his slit pupils were darting around, scanning for any further threats. He was panting, a thin hiss accompanying every breath.

The entire street was dead silent. The fire crackled softly. No one moved. They were all staring at the demonic, reptilian boy who had just neutralized a deadly villain in less than five seconds.

Hidden in the crowd, a gaunt, skeletal man with blonde hair watched with wide, shadowed eyes. Toshinori Yagi clutched his side, his heart pounding not just from the residual fear-effect of the boy's frill, but from sheer awe.

He leaped into the fire when the pros did nothing, Toshinori thought, watching as the boy slowly retracted his terrifying frill and frantically checked the blonde victim’s pulse. He possesses a power so terrifying it borders on villainous, yet his first instinct was to save a life. He controlled the beast perfectly.

Slowly, the paralysis wore off the crowd. The Pro Heroes rushed in. Death Arms and Kamui Woods secured the still-paralyzed Sludge Villain.

Backdraft began dousing the fires, while paramedics rushed to Katsuki.

Izuku immediately stepped back, his posture shrinking as he fumbled to pick up his medical mask from the ground, securing it over his face. He looked at the ground, preparing for the inevitable.

"What were you thinking?!" Death Arms yelled, marching up to Izuku. "You have a highly dangerous, unregulated Quirk! You could have killed him, or yourself, or gotten in our way! You don't just jump into a hostage situation like some wild animal!"

Izuku kept his head bowed, his hands shoved deep into his pockets. "I'm sorry," he mumbled, his voice muffled by the mask. "I just... his eyes. He looked like he was asking for help."

Across the street, Katsuki was sitting on the back of an ambulance, being praised by Mt. Lady for his "incredibly powerful Quirk." But Katsuki wasn't listening. His crimson eyes were locked on Izuku. There was no anger this time. Only a profound, confusing mixture of humiliation and undeniable respect.

The sun was setting, casting long, orange shadows across the pavement as Izuku walked home. The exhaustion was setting in. Producing that much neurotoxin and deploying the frill had burned through his caloric reserves. He needed to eat a whole chicken and maybe a carton of eggs as soon as he got home.

"Deku!"

Izuku stopped, turning around. Katsuki was jogging up the street, panting slightly.

Izuku tensed, his claws instinctively pressing against the fabric of his pockets.

Katsuki stopped a few feet away, his fists clenched at his sides. He looked at the ground, then up at Izuku's masked face.

"I didn't ask for your help," Katsuki snarled, though the venom in his voice lacked its usual bite. "I wasn't asking for help! I had it under control. Don't think you can look down on me just because you played the hero today. I'm still going to be number one!"

Katsuki turned on his heel and marched away before Izuku could say a word.

Izuku watched him go, a small, genuine smile forming beneath his mask. It was the closest thing to a 'thank you' Katsuki had ever given him.

"I AM HERE!"

Izuku nearly jumped out of his skin as All Might suddenly lunged from a side alley, striking a heroic pose in the middle of the empty street.

"All Might?!" Izuku gasped. "What are you doing here? How did you get past the reporters?"

"HAHAHA! I STAND FOR JUSTICE, NOT SOUNDBITES!" All Might boomed. But then, a plume of steam erupted from his body.

Izuku recoiled, his thermal vision instinctively turning on as the massive heat signature of the Number One Hero suddenly shrank and condensed into a frail, skeletal figure coughing up blood.

"W-What?! You're... an imposter?!" Izuku cried.

"No, young man, I assure you... I am All Might," the skeletal man sighed, wiping blood from his chin. He gestured to his severe injuries, explaining the battle with Toxic Chainsaw five years ago, his time limit, and the facade he maintained to keep society at peace.

Izuku listened in stunned silence. The invulnerable Symbol of Peace was broken.

"I came to find you, young man, to thank you, and to apologize," Toshinori said, his hollow blue eyes meeting Izuku's slit pupils. "Earlier today, I told you to seek out rescue work. I judged you based on the frightening nature of your Quirk."

Toshinori stepped forward. "But back there, in the flames? While all the pros, myself included, stood frozen on the sidelines, waiting for an ideal Quirk... you, a boy with a Quirk society deems monstrous, were the only one who acted like a true hero."

Izuku’s breath hitched. Tears began to well up in his eyes. For ten years, he had been told his power was for killing. That he was a predator. A beast.

"You controlled a lethal power to save a life," Toshinori said softly. "You have the heart of a true hero."

Izuku fell to his knees, his hands clutching his chest as he sobbed. The tears streamed down his face, soaking into his black mask. The relief was overwhelming. The greatest hero in the world didn't see him as a monster.

Toshinori watched the boy cry, a warm smile spreading across his gaunt face.

"Tell me, young man," Toshinori said, looking down at him. "Your Quirk... it is incredibly powerful, but it relies heavily on your instincts, does it not? It is dangerous."

Izuku nodded, sniffing. "It's called Venomous Apex. If I lose control of my emotions, my predator instincts take over. My venom can melt steel, and my frill causes uncontrollable fear. I have to hold back constantly."

"I see," Toshinori mused. "You don't lack power. In fact, you have an overabundance of it. What you lack is refinement. The bridge between a frightening force of nature and a Symbol of Peace."

Toshinori knelt down, placing a skeletal hand on Izuku's shoulder.

"I have been looking for a successor," Toshinori said quietly. "Someone to inherit my Quirk. But looking at you... I think you already have all the power you need to stand at the top. You don't need my power. You need my guidance."

Izuku looked up, his slit pupils wide with shock. "Guidance?"

"Yes," Toshinori smiled brightly. "Young man, what is your name?"

"I-Izuku Midoriya!"

"Midoriya," Toshinori stood up, pointing a finger at the sky. "Society fears what they do not understand. They fear the predator in the dark. But what if that predator was the one protecting them? What if the villains were the ones who had to look over their shoulders in fear?"

Toshinori held out his hand.

"Let me train you, Izuku Midoriya. I will teach you the restraint, the morals, and the combat mastery required to turn your terrifying biology into the ultimate weapon for justice. I will help you become the Apex Hero."

Izuku looked at the extended hand. He thought of the terrified faces of the villains today. He thought of Katsuki’s life in his hands. He thought of all the years he spent hating his own body.

He reached out, his sharp claws carefully retracting to ensure he wouldn't scratch the frail man, and grasped All Might's hand firmly.

"I accept," Izuku said, a fierce, predatory determination igniting in his glowing emerald eyes. "I will become a hero that villains fear."

Takoba Municipal Beach was less a coastline and more a graveyard for the city’s discarded mechanical corpses. Piles of rusted refrigerators, crushed sedans, and shattered microwaves formed a jagged, metallic mountain range that choked the sand and poisoned the tide.

For the average teenager, it was a hazardous dump. For Izuku Midoriya, it was the perfect hunting ground.

The scent of salt air and oxidizing iron filled Izuku’s lungs as he crouched silently atop a rusted shipping container. His breathing was shallow, controlled. His dual-layered retinas filtered the bright morning sunlight, shifting seamlessly into thermal imaging. Below him, the world was cast in cool blues and deep purples, save for the bright, radiant orange heat signature of the gaunt, skeletal man walking through the labyrinth of junk.

"Control the breath, Young Midoriya," Toshinori Yagi called out, his voice echoing slightly against the heaps of scrap metal. He wasn't looking up. He was simply listening. "Your biology is designed to terrify and overwhelm. As a hero, your greatest asset isn't your lethality—it's your restraint. Find the balance. Strike without malice."

Atop the container, Izuku’s slit pupils narrowed. His mind—the analytical, human side—calculated the wind speed, the structural integrity of the junk piles, and the trajectory required to reach his target: a mangled, four-door sedan positioned twenty yards away from Toshinori.

But the other part of his mind, the ancient, reptilian predator that hummed beneath his skin, cared nothing for wind speed. It only knew the geometry of the kill.

Izuku allowed the predator a fraction of control.

His leg muscles, dense as steel cables, coiled beneath him. He didn't jump so much as he exploded from a standstill. The rusted roof of the shipping container crumpled inward under the sheer kinetic force of his launch. He sailed silently through the air, his body parallel to the ground, arms extended.

Mid-flight, the glands beneath his tongue contracted. He visualized a highly concentrated, localized corrosive—a venom with a pH level low enough to compromise steel but viscous enough not to splatter and cause collateral damage.

He unhinged his jaw, the thick folds of his dormant frill twitching against his neck, and spat.

A glob of iridescent, emerald-green fluid shot through the air. Izuku landed on the hood of the targeted sedan with the heavy, silent grace of a jungle cat, his retractable claws extending to bite into the metal for purchase.

A split second later, his venom struck the car's engine block.

HSSSSSSSS!

The reaction was violently fast. The hood of the car bubbled and caved inward. Plumes of acrid, white smoke hissed into the air as the hyper-corrosive acid chewed through layers of steel, aluminum, and wiring in seconds, leaving a perfectly spherical, molten crater where the engine used to be.

Izuku exhaled a slow, steady stream of air, his claws retracting with a soft snick. He dropped from the hood to the sand, turning to face his mentor.

"Time?" Izuku asked, his voice muffled by the heavy-duty, carbon-filter mask strapped over his lower face. The mask was a custom prototype built by a local support gear shop, designed to unlatch with a flick of his jaw, allowing him to spit without removing it completely.

Toshinori checked a stopwatch. "Two point four seconds from launch to neutralization. And your spread?"

Izuku walked over to the smoking engine block. He peered inside the crater. "Zero splatter. The viscosity was perfectly balanced. It ate the core target and neutralized itself upon hitting the ceramic casing of the undercarriage. No collateral damage to the surrounding area."

Toshinori smiled, a genuine expression of pride warming his hollowed features. "Excellent. Truly excellent, my boy."

Over the past ten months, All Might had not focused on making Izuku stronger. Izuku was already terrifyingly strong. His Dilophosaurus mutation gifted him with a bite force capable of snapping an iron beam, leg strength that allowed him to leap a three-story building, and agility that defied human physics.

Instead, All Might’s training was a masterclass in guerrilla warfare, psychological restraint, and moral conditioning.

"A predator hunts to kill," Toshinori had told him on their first day. "A hero hunts to save. The moment you cross that line, the moment you let the beast dictate the terms of your engagement, you become the very monster society believes you to be."

And so, they trained. Izuku learned to navigate the junk piles without making a sound. He learned to synthesize dozens of venom variations on the fly—mild sedatives, blinding agents, structural solvents, and expanding foam. He learned to control his massive frill, ensuring he didn't accidentally trigger the bio-electric fear response unless absolutely necessary.

The physical toll was immense. The synthesis of complex chemicals drained Izuku's caloric reserves rapidly. He consumed an astonishing amount of food—raw fish, alkaline-rich vegetables, calcium supplements, and massive quantities of red meat.

As the ten months drew to a close, Izuku’s body had transformed. He was no longer a scrawny middle schooler hiding inside his own skin. He stood taller, his posture predatory and alert. Lean, corded muscle wrapped his frame, built specifically for explosive speed and terrifying agility. The scaly ridges along his neck were more pronounced, pulsing with a vibrant, dormant energy. His unruly green hair seemed to blend seamlessly with his reptilian features, framing emerald eyes that housed vertically slitted pupils.

He was fifteen years old. He was a weapon. And he was finally ready to be a hero.

The morning of the U.A. Entrance Exam was crisp and clear.

Izuku stood before the mirror in his bedroom, adjusting his specialized mask. It covered his nose and jaw, constructed from matte-black, reinforced polymer. A small, hydraulic hinge sat at the cheekbones, allowing him to unhinge his jaw and drop the front plate in a fraction of a second.

"Izuku? Are you ready, sweetie?" Inko Midoriya called from the hallway, her voice tight with anxiety.

Izuku grabbed his yellow backpack and stepped out of his room. Inko stood there, twisting a dish towel in her hands. She looked up at her son, taking in his imposing, athletic build and the intimidating mask. Tears immediately welled in her eyes.

"Oh, my baby," she whispered, reaching up to touch his shoulder. "You look so strong. Just... please be careful. Not just with the robots, but with yourself. Don't let them make you feel like... like..."

"A monster," Izuku finished softly. His eyes crinkled in a warm smile, even though she couldn't see his mouth. "I won't, Mom. I know who I am. I'm going to U.A. to show them that a predator can be a protector."

With a final, tight hug, Izuku set off.

The U.A. campus was a sprawling, architectural marvel of glass and steel. As Izuku walked up the main path, he could feel the eyes of the other applicants on him. They parted like the Red Sea, subconsciously reacting to the aura of the apex predator in their midst. Some pointed at his mask, others whispered about the strange, scaly ridges on his neck. Izuku ignored them, keeping his head forward, his breathing steady.

Step by step. Control the instincts. Assess the environment.

He was so focused on cataloging the heat signatures of the crowd that he almost missed the girl tripping on her own feet.

A girl with bobbed brown hair caught her toe on an uneven paving stone. She gasped, her arms flailing as she pitched forward toward the concrete.

Before the conscious thought to help even formed in Izuku's brain, his fast-twitch muscle fibers reacted. In a blur of motion, Izuku lunged forward, bridging a ten-foot gap in a fraction of a second. He didn't just catch her; he slid low, one hand bracing her shoulder, the other wrapping gently around her waist to halt her momentum entirely, suspending her an inch above the ground.

The girl blinked, wide-eyed, staring at the concrete hovering just below her nose.

Izuku gently righted her, pulling his hands back immediately and taking a respectful step away. "Are you alright?" he asked, his voice a deep, slightly raspy baritone through the mask.

The girl looked up at him, taking in his intense, slit-pupiled eyes and the intimidating black mask. For a second, Izuku braced himself for the inevitable flinch of fear.

Instead, a bright, rosy blush dusted her cheeks, and she beamed. "Whoa! You move so fast! Thank you so much! I'm Ochaco Uraraka. I guess I was so nervous I forgot how to use my legs. That would have been a terrible omen, huh?"

Izuku stared at her. She wasn't afraid. She was... smiling at him. "I—um. I'm Izuku Midoriya," he stammered, his confident predator persona instantly dissolving into his awkward, fanboy self. "G-glad I could help. Good luck on the exam!"

"You too, Midoriya-kun!" she waved, jogging off toward the auditorium.

Izuku stood there for a moment, a strange warmth blooming in his chest. I saved someone today. Just a trip, but... I helped her.

Inside the massive auditorium, the lights dimmed. The Voice Hero: Present Mic stood at the podium, his voice booming through the speakers. Izuku sat in his designated seat, his notebook open, his pen flying across the page.

His dual-layered retinas automatically picked up the faint heat radiating from Present Mic’s specialized directional speakers. He was muttering under his breath, analyzing the mechanics of the hero's Quirk.

"...the acoustic dampeners in his costume must be lined with a dense kinetic foam to prevent his own vocal vibrations from shattering his collarbones..."

"Shut up, Deku," a familiar, venomous voice hissed from the seat next to him. Katsuki Bakugo glared at him, his red eyes burning with a mixture of annoyance and that ever-present, lingering caution. "You're distracting me."

"Sorry, Kacchan," Izuku replied calmly, clicking his pen shut.

Present Mic explained the practical exam: a massive faux-city where applicants would destroy robotic villains to earn points. One-pointers, two-pointers, three-pointers, and the massive zero-point obstacle.

Suddenly, a tall, bespectacled boy with engines in his calves stood up, rigid and authoritative. "Excuse me! I have a question! On the printout, there are four types of villains! If this is a misprint, U.A., the top hero agency in Japan, should be ashamed!" He then turned around, his arm chopping the air and pointing directly at Izuku. "And you! The one in the mask! You've been muttering this entire time! If you are not taking this seriously, then leave! Your very presence is intimidating other applicants!"

The room fell silent. Eyes shifted to Izuku.

Izuku didn't flinch. He looked at the boy, his slit pupils constricting slightly under the auditorium lights. He didn't speak with anger, but with cold, precise logic.

"I am analyzing the pro hero's equipment to better understand the mechanics of high-decibel Quirk usage," Izuku stated, his voice carrying effortlessly across the silent room. "Furthermore, my mask is a registered medical and safety support item mandated by my Quirk registry to ensure the safety of those around me. If you find my adherence to safety regulations intimidating, I suggest you evaluate your own fortitude for the hero course."

A collective, quiet "Oooooh" rippled through the seated students. Bakugo smirked slightly, crossing his arms.

The bespectacled boy turned bright red, bowed stiffly, and sat down. "I... I apologize for my assumption!"

Present Mic laughed nervously. "ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT! EXCELLENT OBSERVATION, EXAMINEE 7111! Now, let's get down to the main event! PLUS ULTRA!"

Battle Center B was a sprawling, incredibly detailed replica of a modern urban environment. Tall concrete buildings, narrow alleyways, and wide asphalt streets formed a labyrinth designed for chaos.

Dozens of applicants stood behind the massive, towering metal gates, stretching and psyching themselves up. Izuku stood at the very front of the pack, right on the precipice of the starting line. He closed his eyes.

He didn't need to stretch. His body was already primed.

He focused inward. He unlatched the heavy psychological chains he kept wrapped around his predator instincts, letting them slip away one by one.

His heart rate slowed. His body temperature dropped slightly, conserving energy. His olfactory senses expanded, filtering out the smells of cheap cologne and nervous sweat from the teenagers behind him, focusing entirely on the scent of hydraulic fluid, ozone, and hot steel wafting over the gates.

Click. His visual cortex shifted. The world of concrete and glass vanished, replaced by the cool blue thermal map of the city. He could see the faint, glowing orange outlines of the robots hidden in the alleys ahead.

"AND BEGIN!" Present Mic's voice blasted from the speakers.

The other students hesitated, waiting for a countdown.

Izuku did not.

Before the first syllable finished echoing, Izuku dropped to all fours and launched himself forward. The asphalt cracked beneath the kinetic force of his leap. He hit the ground running, his movements a terrifying, fluid blur of reptilian grace. He didn't run like a human; his spine undulated, his heavy legs pumping in a quadrupedal sprint that ate up the distance at thirty miles per hour.

"Look at that guy go!" someone shouted from behind, but Izuku was already out of sight, disappearing into the concrete jungle.

He was in his element. The hunt had begun.

A One-Pointer rolled out from an alley to his left, its red optical sensor locking onto him. "Target acquired!"

Izuku didn't slow down. He propelled himself off a nearby streetlight, his body rotating horizontally in mid-air. As he passed the robot, his right arm lashed out.

Snick.

Five razor-sharp, dense keratin claws extended from his fingertips, coated in a micro-thin layer of ultra-corrosive acid. His hand swept across the robot's neck joint. He landed silently on his feet and kept running without looking back.

A second later, the acid ate through the severed wiring, and the One-Pointer's head slid off its chassis, hitting the ground with a heavy clang.

One point.

He scrambled up the side of a fire escape, his leg muscles carrying him up three stories in a matter of seconds. From the rooftop, his thermal vision gave him a bird's-eye view of the battlefield. The street below was crawling with robots.

A group of three Two-Pointers had cornered a pair of examinees.

Izuku stepped to the edge of the roof. His jaw unhinged, the black mask falling open on its hydraulic hinge. The vibrant, ribbed skin on his neck flared slightly, a warning sign of the chemical pressure building in his throat. He synthesized a mid-level solvent—not strong enough to cause a catastrophic explosion, but caustic enough to melt circuitry.

He took a deep breath, and unleashed a rapid-fire volley of venomous spit.

Thwip! Thwip! Thwip!

Three emerald globes struck the Two-Pointers dead in their optical sensors.

"Error! Visual receptors compromised! Hull integrity failing!" the robots blared. The acid hissed violently, melting through their faceplates and frying their motherboards in a shower of sparks. The massive machines crumpled to the ground, dead.

Seven points.

The two examinees below looked up, trying to find their savior, but Izuku was already gone, leaping silently from rooftop to rooftop.

In an observation room deep within U.A., a massive wall of monitors displayed the carnage. The faculty of Pro Heroes watched in silent awe.

"Applicant Midoriya," Nezu, the principal, mused, sipping his tea. "Quirk: Venomous Apex. A highly lethal mutation. Yet, his control is astonishing."

"He's a ghost," Eraser Head noted, his tired eyes tracking the green blur on screen 4. "He isn't fighting them head-on. He's utilizing stealth, high-ground advantage, and surgical strikes. He's expending minimal energy for maximum yield. It’s highly rational."

"But look at the destruction!" Midnight gasped, watching a Three-Pointer dissolve into a bubbling puddle of slag after Izuku dropped onto its back and injected a hyper-acid directly into its exhaust port. "That venom is terrifying! It’s like a xenomorph!"

"He is avoiding collateral damage," Snipe pointed out. "Notice how he only uses the heavy corrosives when isolated. In crowds, he relies on kinetic force and his claws. He has absolute mastery over his biological weapons."

Back in the city, Izuku was a tempest of destruction.

He had amassed forty-five points in six minutes. He was a shadow moving through the alleys. When a Three-Pointer fired a missile at him, Izuku didn't dodge. He synthesized a rapid-expanding, alkaline foam. He spat it directly at the missile mid-air. The foam expanded instantly upon contact with oxygen, creating a massive, dense cushion that smothered the explosion entirely, turning a lethal blast into a muffled whump of white foam.

He then closed the distance, leapt into the air, and delivered a devastating, spinning heel kick—empowered by his dense leg musculature—that caved the Three-Pointer's chest cavity inward.

Forty-eight points.

Izuku paused, wiping a bead of sweat from his brow. His caloric drain was catching up to him. His stomach gave a low rumble. He needed to wrap this up.

Suddenly, the ground beneath his feet trembled.

It wasn't a localized vibration. The entire cityscape shuddered. The glass in the nearby windows cracked. A shadow fell over the sun.

Izuku turned, his slit pupils dilating.

At the far end of the main street, a colossal metal titan tore through a skyscraper as if it were made of cardboard. The Zero-Pointer. It was larger than any building around it, a monolithic beast of steel and treads. Its massive, glowing red eye swept over the fleeing examinees.

"Less than two minutes remaining!" Present Mic's voice echoed.

The other applicants were screaming, turning on their heels and running for the exit.

The obstacle, Izuku’s analytical mind noted. No points. The logical move is to retreat and conserve energy.

He turned to run. But as he did, his acute hearing picked up a sound beneath the grinding treads and screaming teens.

A gasp of pain.

Izuku spun around. Through the dust and debris, his thermal vision pierced the veil. Beneath a massive chunk of concrete rubble, a small, bright orange heat signature was trapped.

It was Uraraka. The girl who had smiled at him.

The Zero-Pointer was rolling forward, its colossal treads mere seconds away from crushing her.

Time stopped.

The analytical, logical part of Izuku’s brain—the part that told him to retreat, to play it safe, to be a normal hero—was violently shoved aside.

The predator awoke. Not just the hunter. The Apex.

MINE, the instinct roared. MY TERRITORY. MY PACK.

Izuku didn't run away. He unlatched his mask completely, tossing it to the ground.

He dropped into a deep, feral crouch. The ribbed skin along his neck began to vibrate with an intense, biological hum. The heat in his throat spiked to agonizing temperatures as his glands worked in absolute overdrive, synthesizing the most volatile, concentrated mixture of hyper-corrosive fluoroantimonic-like acid his body could produce.

He launched himself forward.

"Are you crazy?!" the bespectacled boy from the auditorium yelled as Izuku blew past him in a blur of green.

Izuku hit a vertical wall of a nearby, half-collapsed building and didn't stop. He ran up the side of the structure, his claws gouging deep trenches into the brick for traction. He scaled five stories in three seconds.

He reached the roof, his leg muscles bulging, straining against the skin. He coiled all of his kinetic energy into his calves.

With a roar that sounded more dinosaur than human, Izuku vaulted off the roof, launching himself directly at the face of the colossal Zero-Pointer.

In the observation room, All Might gripped the edge of the console, his knuckles white. Show them, Izuku. Show them your hero heart.

Mid-air, suspended hundreds of feet above the ground, Izuku was a tiny speck against the metallic titan. The Zero-Pointer’s massive red optical sensor locked onto him. Its colossal hand raised to swat him out of the sky like a fly.

Izuku initiated his Quirk's ultimate biological defense mechanism.

With a sound like a thunderclap, the cartilaginous frill on Izuku’s neck erupted outward. It spanned over three feet, an explosion of hyper-vibrant, luminescent greens, yellows, and blood-reds.

It wasn't just a visual display. The frill emitted a massive, concussive wave of low-frequency bio-electricity. In organics, it triggered paralyzing fear. In the highly sensitive optical and auditory sensors of the Zero-Pointer, it acted as a localized EMP.

The robot’s red eye short-circuited in a shower of sparks, turning black. Its massive arm froze mid-swing, its guidance systems momentarily blinded by the biological overload.

That second was all Izuku needed.

He twisted in the air, bringing his face inches from the robot's dark eye socket, directly where the main battery chassis was housed.

Izuku opened his jaws impossibly wide.

HSSSSSSSSSKRRAAAAA!

He unleashed a torrent of boiling, glowing, ultra-corrosive venom.

The acid struck the thick armor plating and didn't just melt it; it annihilated it. The chemical reaction was so violent it created a shockwave of displaced air. The venom chewed through the external armor, the reinforced glass, the titanium skull plate, and plunged directly into the main power core.

The Zero-Pointer let out a deafening, mechanical groan. Internal explosions tore through its head as the acid liquefied its battery banks.

Izuku kicked off the melting faceplate, propelling himself backward as the colossal machine’s head erupted in a massive bloom of fire and molten slag. The titan leaned backward, its systems completely dead, and crashed into the empty cityscape, sending a tidal wave of dust into the air.

Izuku was in free fall. The adrenaline was fading, and his body was completely empty. His frill folded back against his neck, the vibrant colors dulling to a muted grey. His claws retracted. He was plummeting toward the earth, too exhausted to brace for impact.

I saved her, he thought, closing his eyes as the wind roared past his ears. That's all that matters.

Suddenly, he felt a sharp slap on his cheek.

His downward momentum abruptly ceased. He was floating, suspended weightless in the air mere feet above the pavement.

Below him, Uraraka was leaning against a piece of rubble, her fingers pressed together, her face pale and exhausted. "Release," she wheezed.

Gravity reasserted itself, and Izuku dropped the final two feet, landing in an undignified heap on his back.

Silence blanketed the faux city. The dust settled, revealing the decapitated, melting remains of the Zero-Pointer.

Every single examinee was staring at Izuku. They had watched a boy turn himself into a mythical beast and melt a skyscraper-sized robot in a single strike. There was fear in their eyes, yes. But beneath the fear was an undeniable, overwhelming awe.

"THE EXAM IS OVER!" Present Mic's voice blared.

Izuku lay on the asphalt, staring up at the sky. His throat burned. His muscles screamed. He was hungry enough to eat a horse. But as he looked over and saw Uraraka safely extracting her leg from the rubble, a wide, razor-toothed smile stretched across his face.

I did it. I didn't let the beast win. I used it to protect.

"Hey!" A small, elderly woman in a nurse's outfit suddenly appeared, handing out gummies to the stunned applicants. Recovery Girl waddled over to Izuku, her syringe-cane clicking on the pavement.

She looked down at the boy, noting the slight chemical burns on his own lips and the severe muscle fatigue in his legs.

"You're an intense one, aren't you?" Recovery Girl sighed, planting a kiss on his forehead. "Using such a lethal Quirk to save a girl from a zero-point obstacle. You have the heart of a hero, child, but you need to learn to pack a lunch. Your blood sugar is dangerously low."

She tossed a handful of high-calorie protein gummies into his hands.

Izuku sat up, gratefully devouring the gummies. The sweet, gelatinous sugar hit his system, stabilizing the aggressive biology that threatened to overwhelm him.

He looked around. The bespectacled boy was staring at him with wide, apologetic eyes. Bakugo was standing at the edge of the street, his hands stuffed in his pockets, his teeth gritted in a mixture of fury and begrudging respect. Uraraka was smiling at him, waving weakly.

A week later, Izuku sat at his desk in his bedroom, staring at the small, metal disc U.A. had sent him.

With a click, a holographic projection of All Might sprang to life.

"I AM HERE AS A PROJECTION!" All Might boomed. He explained the scoring system. He showed the footage of Izuku saving Uraraka, and her subsequent visit to Present Mic to offer her own points to him.

"Your Quirk is terrifying, Young Midoriya," All Might said softly, leaning into the camera. "Many would say it is the Quirk of a villain. But you proved them wrong. You proved that true heroism isn't defined by the nature of your power, but by the nature of your heart."

The scoreboard appeared on screen.

Izuku Midoriya.

Villain Points: 48.

Rescue Points: 60.

Total: 108.

First Place.

"Welcome, Izuku," All Might smiled warmly, reaching out a hand as if to pull him through the hologram. "Welcome to your Hero Academia."

Izuku gripped the edge of his desk, tears streaming down his face, past his slit pupils and over the scaly ridges of his neck. He was no longer just the neighborhood monster.

He was the Apex of U.A.'s newest generation. And he was ready to hunt.

To step into Class 1-A of U.A. High School was to step into a microcosm of the future’s greatest heroes. It was a room humming with kinetic energy, overflowing with vibrant personalities and extraordinary Quirks.

But when Izuku Midoriya walked through the massive door, the atmospheric pressure in the room distinctly shifted.

Izuku didn't swagger, nor did he shrink. He moved with a terrifyingly silent, fluid grace, his footsteps making zero sound against the polished floor. At fifteen, his physique was imposing—a lean, dense cord of muscle built to sustain the massive caloric burn of his venom production and the explosive torque of his leg strength. The U.A. uniform clung tightly to his shoulders. His top collar was left completely unbuttoned, mandated by the school nurse to ensure the thick, scaly, ribbed folds of his dormant neck frill were not compressed or agitated.

Over his nose and jaw sat his customized matte-black polymer mask, the faint hum of its carbon filters breaking the silence. Above the mask, his unruly green hair shadowed emerald eyes that possessed vertical, razor-thin slit pupils.

The low chatter in the classroom died instantly.

Tenya Iida, who had just been loudly berating Katsuki Bakugo for resting his feet on the desk, stopped mid-chop. Iida adjusted his glasses, his eyes widening as he took in the imposing figure of the boy who had shattered the Zero-Pointer.

Bakugo, lounging in his chair, stiffened. He didn't take his feet off the desk, but his jaw clenched tight enough to grind his teeth to dust. His crimson eyes locked onto Izuku with a complex mixture of burning resentment and deep, unshakeable biological wariness.

Izuku’s dual-layered retinas swept the room. His thermal vision flared for a microsecond, automatically cataloging the heat signatures of the nineteen other students, assessing threat levels, exits, and lines of sight. It was an instinctual habit. He forced a slow breath through his nose, tamping down the cold, calculating machinery of the predator, and allowed his human warmth to surface.

"Oh! It's you!"

The tension shattered as Ochaco Uraraka bounded over, her face lighting up with a radiant smile. "The boy who melts things! Midoriya-kun, right? I was hoping we'd be in the same class! You were so amazing at the exam! It was like... whoosh, and then hissss, and then BOOM!"

Izuku’s eyes crinkled in a warm smile, the menacing aura dissipating entirely. "Uraraka-san. I'm glad you made it too. And... thank you. I'm just glad you were safe."

"If you're just here to make friends, you can pack up your things and leave."

The voice was dry, flat, and raspy, originating from the floor just outside the doorway.

The entire class jumped, whipping their heads around. Lying on the floor was a man zipped entirely inside a yellow sleeping bag, sucking on a juice pouch.

Izuku, however, hadn't jumped. He had tracked the man's incredibly faint, suppressed heat signature three minutes ago as it slinked down the hallway.

The man unzipped the sleeping bag and stood up, revealing a scruffy face, tired eyes, and a tangled mess of black hair. Shouta Aizawa, the underground hero Eraser Head.

Aizawa’s dark eyes swept over the class, pausing for a fraction of a second on Izuku. The hero noted the boy’s relaxed posture. He knew I was there, Aizawa thought, a flicker of approval behind his deadpan expression. He didn't startle. Excellent spatial awareness.

"I'm your homeroom teacher, Shouta Aizawa," he drawled, pulling a blue gym uniform from his sleeping bag. "Put these on and meet me on the P.E. grounds. We're doing a Quirk Apprehension Test."

The sun beat down on the dirt field as Class 1-A stood before their new teacher.

"A Quirk Apprehension Test?" the class echoed in confusion.

"What about the entrance ceremony? The orientation?" Uraraka asked nervously.

"If you're going to become a hero, you don't have time for such leisurely events," Aizawa replied coldly. He explained his philosophy: maximum rationality, total freedom in how he ran his class. To emphasize his point, he pulled out a softball and tossed it to Bakugo. "You finished first in the practical exam—excluding rescue points. What was your farthest softball throw in junior high?"

"Sixty-seven meters," Bakugo grunted.

"Try it with your Quirk. Anything goes, just stay in the circle."

Bakugo stepped into the ring. He stretched his arms, a feral grin spreading across his face. He wound up, and with a deafening blast of heat and kinetic energy, launched the ball into the stratosphere.

"DIE!" Bakugo roared.

"Die...?" Izuku muttered from the crowd, his mask filtering his sigh.

Aizawa held up a device that beeped. 705.2 meters.

The class erupted in excitement, marveling at the freedom to use their Quirks.

Aizawa’s eyes darkened. His capture weapon floated slightly as his Quirk activated, his hair rising. "You think this is fun? You have three years to become heroes. Will you have an attitude like that the whole time? Fine. Whoever comes in last place in all eight tests will be judged to have no potential and will be punished with expulsion."

A wave of terror washed over the students. But not Izuku.

Izuku’s heartbeat didn't flutter. It slowed. The threat of expulsion didn't trigger human panic; it triggered survival instincts. His slit pupils constricted, focusing entirely on Aizawa. He understood exactly what the teacher was doing. This wasn't a game. This was the wilderness. You adapt, or you perish.

Aizawa noticed the boy's eerie calm. He had read Izuku’s file. Venomous Apex. Mutant/Emitter hybrid. Lethality rating: Severe. Aizawa was prepared to erase the boy's Quirk the second he showed any sign of losing control. He wanted to see if the beast could be leashed.

Test 1: 50-Meter Dash

Izuku was paired against Bakugo.

They stepped up to the starting line. Bakugo kept his hands raised, palms sparking, his eyes burning into the side of Izuku's head. "Don't think you can hold back, Deku. I'll incinerate you."

Izuku didn't look at him. Instead, he dropped fluidly to all fours. His hands planted flat on the dirt, his long legs coiled beneath his chest. He took a deep breath, the vents on his mask hissing softly. He shifted his weight, digging his retractable claws a fraction of an inch into the dirt for absolute traction.

"Runners, on your marks," the robotic camera announced. "Ready... Go!"

BOOM! Bakugo blasted himself forward, flying across the track with continuous explosions.

But Izuku vanished.

There was a loud CRACK as the dirt behind Izuku's starting block exploded outward, displaced by the sheer, unadulterated torque of his leg muscles. He didn't run upright. He bounded on all fours, his spine flexing and extending like a coursing greyhound, but with the terrifying mass and power of a reptilian predator.

He was a green blur. He passed Bakugo in less than a second, the wind pressure from his passage nearly extinguishing Bakugo's explosions.

Beep.

"3.04 seconds," the machine announced.

Izuku skidded to a halt on the other side of the finish line, gracefully rising to his feet and dusting off his hands.

Bakugo crossed a second later, tumbling onto the dirt. "4.13 seconds." Bakugo stared at Izuku, his chest heaving, his pride taking a massive, jagged hit.

Aizawa scribbled on his clipboard. Leg musculature is incredibly dense. Fast-twitch fibers exceed human limitations by an estimated 400%.

Test 5: Ball Throw

The tests continued. Izuku dominated the physical portions. His grip strength nearly shattered the machine, registering at 850 kg before he let go to avoid breaking it. His side-to-side steps were a blur of predatory agility.

Finally, the ball throw.

Uraraka had just scored an infinity by removing the ball's gravity. It was Izuku's turn.

He stepped into the circle, rolling the standard-issue baseball in his hands. He looked out at the open field. He could just throw it using his raw arm strength, but that wouldn't demonstrate the true versatility of his Quirk. Aizawa valued rational application.

Izuku brought the ball up to his mask. He unlatched the lower jaw plate with a soft click, exposing his mouth.

Aizawa’s hand drifted toward his goggles, ready to erase Izuku’s Quirk if the boy attempted to spit acid onto the field.

Instead, Izuku’s salivary glands hummed. He altered his body chemistry, synthesizing a highly specific compound: a non-corrosive, rapid-curing, dense poly-foam with aerodynamic properties. He spat a thick, milky-white coating over the entire baseball.

Within two seconds, the venom reacted with the air, hardening into a dimpled, ultra-dense shell, effectively turning the baseball into an oversized, perfectly aerodynamic golf ball with three times the mass.

Izuku re-latched his mask. He stepped back. He didn't just use his arm. He engaged his terrifying leg muscles, rotating his hips, snapping his torso forward, and whipping his arm like a trebuchet.

FWOOSH!

The ball broke the sound barrier with a sharp crack, sailing into the sky until it disappeared from sight.

Aizawa looked at his device. 895.3 meters.

Aizawa lowered his capture weapon. A small, hidden smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. The boy hadn't just used brute force; he had used chemistry, physics, and tactical enhancement. Rational application of a lethal quirk. He isn't a mindless beast. He's a tactician.

"He... he changed the mass and aerodynamics of the ball using venom!" Momo Yaoyorozu gasped from the sidelines, her brilliant mind instantly grasping what Izuku had done. "That requires an unparalleled understanding of organic chemistry!"

Bakugo watched in stunned silence, his hands trembling slightly.

By the end of the tests, Izuku ranked first overall. Aizawa revealed the expulsion was a "logical ruse," though he locked eyes with Izuku for a moment, silently acknowledging that for some, the threat had been very real.

The next day, the true test of U.A.'s hierarchy began.

"I AM HERE!" All Might bellowed, bursting through the classroom door in his Silver Age costume. "COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A HERO!"

The class lost their minds, cheering for the Symbol of Peace. Izuku sat quietly, taking notes, though the slit pupils in his eyes dilated slightly with respect for his mentor.

"Today, we are doing Combat Training!" All Might announced, pointing a remote at the wall. Panels slid open, revealing numbered metal cases. "Costumes made based on your Quirk registrations and requests! Get suited up and meet me at Ground Beta!"

Ten minutes later, Class 1-A walked out into the massive, faux-city training ground.

Izuku emerged from the tunnel last, and instantly, eyes were drawn to him.

His hero costume was a masterclass in tactical design, crafted entirely to accommodate and weaponize his unique biology. The suit was a deep, matte forest-green, constructed from a lightweight, cut-resistant Kevlar weave. It was sleeveless, exposing his muscular arms and allowing completely unrestricted movement for his shoulders. His hands and feet were covered in specialized, fingerless gloves and open-toed combat boots, specifically designed so his retractable claws could extend without snagging fabric.

The collar of the suit plunged deep in a V-neck, leaving his neck entirely exposed so his massive frill could deploy instantly without restriction.

But the most striking feature was his mask. Gone was the civilian black filter. In its place was a menacing, high-tech piece of support gear. A reinforced, gunmetal-grey rebreather covered his jaw and nose. Attached to the sides were two small, pressurized canisters linked directly to the corners of his mouth.

Support Item: Venom-Mist Gauntlets, Hatsume Mei had called them when she delivered the prototype. The mask allowed Izuku to spit his venom into a miniature aerosolizer, which could either vent out as a wide-area fog, or compress and shoot through tubes into the bracers on his wrists, allowing him to coat his claws in a constant drip of venom without needing to bring his hands to his mouth.

He looked less like a traditional superhero and more like a high-tech apex predator from a dystopian future.

"Whoa, Midoriya!" Uraraka ran up to him, wearing her pink and black spacesuit. "Your costume looks so cool! It's kind of... scary, but in a totally awesome way!"

"Thanks, Uraraka," Izuku replied, his voice distorted and amplified slightly by the mask's built-in comms unit. "Yours is very practical. Good for mitigating the nausea from your Quirk."

All Might began drawing lots for the two-on-two indoor battle trial. One team would be Villains, protecting a papier-mâché nuclear weapon. The other team would be Heroes, tasked with securing the weapon or capturing the villains.

"Team A: Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka!" All Might announced, pulling the balls from the box. "You will be the Heroes! And Team D: Katsuki Bakugo and Tenya Iida! You will be the Villains!"

The air grew heavy.

Across the group, Bakugo slowly turned his head. His crimson eyes locked onto Izuku. The competitive rage inside Bakugo was boiling over. Since they were four years old, Bakugo had feared the monster inside Izuku. But Bakugo's pride refused to let him stay terrified. Today was the day he would prove that his explosions were superior to Izuku's venom.

Izuku met his gaze. The human part of Izuku—the boy who had been bullied for years—felt a twinge of old anxiety. But the predator? The Apex? It felt nothing but cold, clinical anticipation.

He wants a fight, the instinct whispered. Show him his place in the food chain.

Inside the multi-story concrete building, Iida and Bakugo stood by the fake weapon. Iida was fully in character, monologuing about being an evil villain.

Bakugo wasn't listening. He was staring at the doorway leading to the dark corridors.

"Bakugo, we should formulate a defensive strategy," Iida commanded, chopping his arm. "Midoriya is incredibly fast, and Uraraka can remove gravity. We must—"

"Shut up, Four-Eyes," Bakugo growled, marching toward the door. "I'm going to hunt down Deku. You guard the bomb."

"Wait! That is highly irrational!" Iida protested, but Bakugo was already gone, disappearing into the shadows.

Outside the building, the buzzer sounded.

"Let's go, Uraraka," Izuku said, placing a clawed hand on the concrete wall.

They slipped through a ground-floor window, entering a dark, silent hallway. The lights had been intentionally cut.

Izuku blinked. His visual cortex clicked over to thermal imaging. The dark hallways instantly illuminated in shades of cool blue. He scanned the ceilings, the floors, and up through the ceiling to the second floor.

"I see them," Izuku whispered, his comms unit transmitting directly to Uraraka's earpiece. "Iida is on the fifth floor, room 504. The weapon is with him. Bakugo is... on the third floor, moving rapidly toward the stairwell. He's coming straight for us."

"He's ignoring the objective to fight you?" Uraraka asked, astonished.

"He's an alpha personality," Izuku explained, his tone clinical and detached, as if narrating a nature documentary. "He views me as a direct threat to his dominance. He won't stop until he proves he can beat me."

Izuku turned to her, his slit pupils glowing faintly in the dim light. "Uraraka, I want you to take the east stairwell. Go up to the fifth floor and secure the weapon. Iida will be expecting both of us. Use your Quirk to navigate the ceiling if you have to."

"What about you?"

"I'm going to intercept Bakugo," Izuku said softly, the mechanical vents on his mask hissing. "I'll draw his aggro. I am the bait, and the trap."

Uraraka nodded, a determined look on her face, and darted off toward the east stairs.

Izuku walked toward the center stairwell. He didn't mask his footsteps. He deliberately let the heavy soles of his combat boots thud against the concrete, sending a clear, auditory invitation up the shaft.

I am here. Come find me.

He reached the second floor and stepped into a labyrinth of narrow, interconnected corridors. There were no windows. Only the faint, ambient emergency lights provided any illumination. It was claustrophobic. It was dark.

For a Dilophosaurus, it was paradise.

Izuku clung to the shadows, his thermal vision tracking the massive, bright-orange heat signature rapidly descending from the third floor. Bakugo rounded the corner at the end of the hall, his palms sparking to provide light.

"DEKU!" Bakugo roared, the sound echoing violently off the concrete walls. "Stop hiding and fight me!"

Izuku stood at the opposite end of the corridor, perfectly still.

Bakugo saw the silhouette. He didn't hesitate. He thrust his hands backward, firing off twin explosions that launched him down the hallway like a human missile. "I'M GOING TO MELT THAT STUPID MASK TO YOUR FACE!"

Izuku waited until Bakugo was halfway down the corridor.

Then, Izuku moved. But he didn't attack.

With a sickening, biological tearing sound, the massive, ribbed cartilaginous frill erupted from Izuku's neck. In the dim, shadowy corridor, the bioluminescent colors of the frill—neon green, warning-sign yellow, and blood red—flashed like a strobe light.

It was a localized biological stun grenade. The low-frequency bio-electric wave washed over the corridor.

Bakugo’s eyes locked onto the massive "eye spots" patterned into the frill. Instantly, the primal, mammalian fear center in Bakugo’s brain overloaded. The instinctual terror of a predator flashing its colors in the dark paralyzed his nervous system.

Bakugo’s explosions sputtered out mid-air. His body locked up. He hit the concrete floor and tumbled violently, skidding to a halt just a few feet away from Izuku, gasping for breath as cold sweat instantly drenched his skin.

Izuku didn't press the advantage immediately. He allowed the frill to fold back against his neck with a soft rustle, the vibrant colors vanishing into the darkness.

"You're too aggressive, Kacchan," Izuku said, his voice deep and distorted through the mask. "In a real fight, telegraphing your presence in an enclosed space is suicide."

Bakugo forced himself to his hands and knees, shaking violently, his pride warring with the biological terror coursing through his veins. "Shut... up!" he snarled, forcing himself to stand.

Izuku’s mask hissed. The specialized aerosolizer clicked. Izuku engaged his salivary glands, synthesizing a highly specific, complex chemical compound: a localized, contact-based numbing neurotoxin. It wasn't lethal. It was essentially weaponized lidocaine mixed with a heavy sedative.

He spat the venom into the mask's receptacle. The fluid pumped through the micro-tubes in his suit, down to his wrists.

Snick.

Izuku’s retractable claws extended, gleaming in the faint light. From small pores in his gloves, the clear, viscous neurotoxin began to weep, coating his talons in a slick, venomous sheen.

"I'm not going to melt you, Kacchan," Izuku stated calmly, dropping into a low, predatory combat stance. "I'm just going to put you to sleep."

Bakugo roared, lunging forward with a massive right hook, a localized explosion ready to detonate on impact.

Izuku ducked under the swing with terrifying, fluid agility. He didn't try to punch Bakugo back. Instead, Izuku's clawed hand snapped out like a striking viper, the back of his knuckles grazing Bakugo’s exposed bicep.

The micro-thin layer of neurotoxin transferred to Bakugo's skin.

Bakugo spun, firing a blast from his left hand. Izuku pivoted on his heel, using his dense leg muscles to leap backward onto the wall. He kicked off the vertical surface, propelling himself over Bakugo's head. As he passed over, Izuku dragged two toxin-coated claws lightly across Bakugo's shoulder blades, slicing the fabric of his costume but barely breaking the skin.

Izuku landed silently behind Bakugo.

Bakugo whipped around, panting. "Is that all you got?! Scratching me?!"

He raised his right hand to fire another explosion, but something was wrong.

The spark didn't ignite.

Bakugo looked down at his arm. His bicep felt cold. The sensation was spreading rapidly down to his forearm, turning the muscles heavy and sluggish. His fingers twitched, barely responding to his brain's commands. The neurotoxin was seeping through his dermis, actively blocking the sodium channels in his nerves and shutting down the sweat glands required for his explosions.

"What... what did you do?" Bakugo breathed, panic finally breaking through his rage.

"Apex predators don't rely on drawn-out brawls," Izuku explained, slowly circling Bakugo, his slit pupils tracking every micro-movement. "We strike, we poison, and we wait for the prey to exhaust itself."

"I'M NOT PREY!" Bakugo screamed, charging forward with his good left arm, swinging wildly.

The fight devolved into a brutal, one-sided display of close-quarters combat. Bakugo was fighting on pure, desperate adrenaline, throwing wide, explosive hooks. But Izuku was a ghost. He weaved and bobbed, his movements defying human joints.

Every time Bakugo swung, Izuku parried. And with every parry, every block, every slight graze of Izuku’s claws, more of the numbing neurotoxin was applied to Bakugo’s skin.

A graze on the left thigh. A tap on the ribs. A scrape across the forearm.

In the observation room, the students of Class 1-A watched the monitors in absolute, horrified silence.

"He's dismantling him," Todoroki murmured, his mismatched eyes wide as he watched Izuku surgically pick Bakugo apart. "He isn't even using his full strength. He's just... hunting him."

"It's terrifying," Kaminari shivered. "Bakugo can't even get a solid hit in, and every time he misses, he gets slower."

All Might stood silently, his fists clenched in pride. Yes, Young Midoriya. Show them the restraint. Show them that true power is total control.

Back in the corridor, Bakugo stumbled. His left leg gave out, the muscles completely numb. He crashed into the concrete wall, sliding down to one knee. Both of his arms hung uselessly at his sides, heavy as lead. He couldn't spark a single explosion. He could barely lift his head.

Izuku walked over slowly, his heavy boots echoing in the quiet hall. He stopped in front of the sluggish, defeated boy.

Bakugo glared up at him, tears of frustration and helplessness pricking his eyes. "Go on," Bakugo slurred, his tongue feeling thick. "Finish it, you monster."

Izuku didn't speak. He stepped forward, placed a hand on Bakugo's shoulder, and effortlessly shoved him flat onto his back. Izuku pinned Bakugo’s chest to the floor with one knee.

Izuku leaned down, his mask inches from Bakugo's face.

From deep within Izuku’s chest, a low, vibrating, guttural hiss emanated. It wasn't a word. It was a primal, territorial declaration of absolute dominance. The sound rattled in Bakugo's bones, extinguishing the last embers of his fight.

"Submission confirmed," Izuku said clinically. He reached to his belt, pulled out the capture tape, and swiftly wrapped it around Bakugo's wrists.

"Midoriya!" Uraraka’s voice crackled through the comms. "I've secured the weapon! Iida didn't even know I was here until I touched it!"

Izuku stood up, looking down at Bakugo. "Good work, Uraraka. Mission accomplished."

"THE HERO TEAM WINS!" All Might’s voice boomed through the PA system.

The buzzer blared, signaling the end of the match.

Izuku’s posture instantly shifted. The predatory tension vanished from his shoulders. He reached up, clicking a button on his mask. The venom flow shut off, and his claws retracted with a soft snap. He pulled a small vial of clear liquid—an alkaline neutralizer—from his belt.

He knelt back down beside Bakugo, holding out the vial. "Drink this, Kacchan. It'll flush the neurotoxin from your system in about two minutes."

Bakugo just lay there, staring at the ceiling, completely physically and mentally broken. He didn't take the vial.

Izuku sighed softly, uncorking it and gently pouring the liquid into Bakugo's mouth before standing up and offering a hand.

Bakugo smacked the hand away with a heavy, uncoordinated twitch of his arm. "Don't... touch me," he rasped.

Izuku slowly lowered his hand, a look of sadness crossing his eyes behind the mask. He turned and walked down the corridor, leaving Bakugo in the dark.

When Izuku and Uraraka returned to the observation room, the atmosphere was thick with awe and trepidation. The students parted for Izuku, eyeing his green suit and the menacing mask with newfound respect.

"That was incredibly manly, Midoriya!" Kirishima pumped his fists, though he kept a safe distance. "But also, like, super scary! You took down Bakugo without even throwing a real punch!"

"Your tactical application of biological toxins is fascinating," Momo Yaoyorozu added, her eyes gleaming with academic curiosity. "Did you synthesize a localized paralytic on the fly?"

Izuku rubbed the back of his neck, his imposing presence melting into his usual, slightly awkward self. "Y-yeah! It's a lidocaine-based derivative. I made sure it wasn't lethal! Just enough to block the sodium channels in his sweat glands to stop his explosions!"

All Might stepped to the front of the room. "Excellent work, Team A! You utilized stealth, strategy, and non-lethal incapacitation to achieve a flawless victory. Who can tell me the MVP of this match?"

Momo raised her hand. "It was Midoriya, sir. He correctly identified the psychological profile of the enemy, predicting Bakugo's irrational aggressive behavior. He drew the enemy's attention, acting as a decoy while simultaneously neutralizing the biggest threat without causing structural damage to the facility or lethal harm to the opponent. He perfectly balanced his highly dangerous Quirk with rational, heroic restraint."

All Might beamed. "EXACTLY RIGHT!"

In the back of the room, Bakugo stood silently, leaning against the wall. The neutralizer had worked, but his arms still ached, and his pride was in absolute ruins. He watched Izuku talk animatedly with Uraraka and Iida, explaining the chemical composition of his venom.

Bakugo clenched his fists. For ten years, he had told himself that Deku was just a freak. A monster waiting to lose control.

But watching the fight back on the monitors, Bakugo realized the terrifying truth. Deku wasn't a monster out of control. Deku had absolute, total control over a power that could have ended Bakugo's life in a hundred different ways. Deku hadn't just beaten him; he had spared him.

And for Bakugo, that was the most agonizing realization of all.

He wasn't at the top of the food chain anymore. He was just another obstacle in the path of the Apex.

The atmosphere on the bus ride to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint was deceptively peaceful. Izuku Midoriya sat near the back, his heavy combat boots resting flat on the floor, his custom-built rebreather mask pulled down to expose his face. He was quietly gnawing on a high-protein, calcium-fortified jerky stick, replenishing the caloric reserves he had burned during morning exercises.

"Midoriya, your Quirk is mutant-type, right? Like mine?" Tsuyu Asui asked, placing a finger to her chin. "You have frog-like leg strength, but those slits in your eyes and the scales on your neck... you're reptilian. A dinosaur, maybe? Ribbit."

The bus quieted down, several students leaning in. Izuku’s power had been the subject of hushed, awed whispers since the battle trials.

Izuku swallowed, his tongue darting out to lick a stray crumb from his needle-sharp teeth. "Yes, Asui. It's called Venomous Apex. It's a mutated theropod physiology, heavily based on a Dilophosaurus. It alters my muscle density, gives me thermal vision, and allows my salivary glands to synthesize complex toxicological compounds."

"Call me Tsu," she replied, blinking her large eyes. "It's a really strong Quirk. But it's kind of scary. You could definitely kill someone by accident if you aren't careful."

"I am careful," Izuku said quietly, his emerald eyes dropping to his hands. "That's why I have to train harder than anyone else. Not to get stronger, but to hold it back."

Katsuki Bakugo, sitting two rows ahead, scoffed loudly and looked out the window, though he didn't offer his usual fiery insult. The memory of the paralyzing neurotoxin in the battle trial still lingered like a phantom itch beneath his skin.

"Well, I think it's awesome!" Kirishima grinned, hardening his arm. "Pro heroes need to be a little intimidating to keep the villains in line!"

The bus ground to a halt. "We're here," Aizawa’s tired voice drifted from the front. "Settle down and get inside."

The Unforeseen Simulation Joint was a marvel of architectural engineering—a massive, domed facility housing distinct ecological zones ranging from a ruined cityscape to a sprawling, humid jungle. Waiting for them was the Space Hero, Thirteen.

As Thirteen delivered a sobering speech about the lethal potential of Quirks—a speech Izuku resonated with on a profound, biological level—the lights in the massive dome suddenly flickered.

The electrical hum of the facility died. A cold, unnatural draft swept through the central plaza.

Izuku’s posture changed instantly. The relaxed high schooler vanished. His spine stiffened, his shoulders rolled forward, and his slit pupils dilated to take in the dimming light. His olfactory senses flared, catching the scent of ozone, stagnant air, and... malice.

Down by the central fountain, the air tore open. A vortex of swirling, violet mist expanded into a massive portal.

"Gather together and don't move!" Aizawa barked, his capture weapon unfurling like a nest of angry vipers. "Thirteen, protect the students!"

"What is that?" Kirishima asked, taking a step forward. "Is this like the entrance exam? Does the training start right away?"

Izuku’s dual-layered retinas shifted. The civilian spectrum of light fell away, replaced by the cool blues and vibrant oranges of thermal imaging. What he saw made the blood freeze in his veins.

Through the purple mist, heat signatures were pouring out. Not robots. Humans. Dozens of them. And leading the pack were three distinct anomalies: a man made entirely of the cold, purple mist; a lanky man covered in disembodied hands; and a massive, hulking monstrosity whose heat signature was so blindingly bright it looked like a walking furnace.

"Those aren't robots," Izuku hissed, his voice dropping an octave as his mask snapped up over his mouth, latching securely. "They're villains."

Before the class could process the horror, the mist-man, Kurogiri, expanded. He surged up the stairs with impossible speed, a tidal wave of intangible darkness cutting them off from the exit.

"Greetings. We are the League of Villains," the mist entity droned. "We have come to U.A. to watch the Symbol of Peace take his last breath."

Izuku’s muscles coiled. His predator instincts screamed at him to strike the throat, but his tactical mind recognized the enemy was completely incorporeal. Bakugo and Kirishima didn't have the same restraint; they leaped forward, unleashing a massive explosion.

But it was useless. The mist enveloped them all.

Izuku felt a sensation of weightlessness, followed by a violent shift in atmospheric pressure and temperature. The cool, air-conditioned air of the entrance was instantly replaced by suffocating, heavy humidity and the deafening sound of torrential rain.

He landed gracefully on a thick, moss-covered branch, his retractable claws sliding seamlessly from his gloves to anchor him to the wood.

He was in the Squall Zone. A dense, synthetic jungle battered by artificial monsoons.

Below him, a splash echoed in the murky swamp water. Tsuyu surfaced, dragging a coughing Fumikage Tokoyami onto a muddy embankment.

"Midoriya!" Tsuyu called out, peering up into the canopy.

Izuku dropped from the branch, landing on the mud without a sound. "Are you both uninjured?" he asked, his mask venting a small hiss of compressed air.

"We are," Tokoyami grunted, Dark Shadow manifesting around him, looking agitated by the rain. "But we are not alone."

From the dense foliage, the sounds of snapping twigs and splashing mud echoed. The shadows peeled back, revealing over two dozen villains armed with rusted pipes, machetes, and various mutant Quirks. They formed a loose perimeter around the three students, their faces twisted in confident, ugly sneers.

"Look what we got here," a villain with a reptilian snout chuckled, slapping a pipe against his palm. "A bird, a frog, and a kid in a muzzle. Shigaraki said we'd get to kill some U.A. brats today. Looks like we get the easy ones."

"Don't cry too loud, kids," another laughed. "We'll make it quick."

Tsuyu crouched, readying her powerful legs. Tokoyami’s Dark Shadow flared, though the ambient light of the fake storm kept it restrained.

Izuku didn't take a combat stance. He simply stood up straight.

He looked at the villains. His human consciousness—the boy who loved hero notebooks and All Might—was terrified of the situation. But the other part of his mind? The ancient, chromosomal sequence that dictated the absolute laws of the food chain?

It was offended.

They think we are prey, the instinct whispered, cold and clinical. Correct them.

Izuku reached up and unlatched his mask. The heavy polymer faceplate hissed, folding downward to expose his mouth and the vibrant, ribbed skin of his neck.

"Tsu. Tokoyami," Izuku said, his voice a low, vibrating rumble that barely carried over the rain. "Secure the embankment. Do not follow me into the trees."

"Midoriya, you can't take them all!" Tokoyami warned. "We must fight together!"

Izuku turned his head slightly, his glowing emerald eyes and razor-thin slit pupils locking onto Tokoyami. The sheer, predatory intensity in Izuku's gaze made Dark Shadow physically shrink back with a whimper.

"I'm not going to fight them," Izuku said softly. "I'm going to hunt them."

Before Tokoyami could argue, Izuku’s leg muscles fired. The mud beneath his boots exploded outward as he launched himself backward into the shadows of the jungle canopy, vanishing completely into the dark, rain-swept foliage.

The villains blinked, wiping rain from their eyes.

"Where'd the green one go?" one of them muttered, gripping his machete tighter.

"Who cares? He ran away!" the reptilian villain laughed. "Let's gut the bird and the frog first, then we'll track him down!"

They took a step forward.

From the dense canopy thirty feet above, a strange, wet, tearing sound echoed over the rain. It was followed by a guttural, rattling hiss that vibrated in the villains' chests, causing their heart rates to involuntarily spike.

A vibrant, luminescent green and yellow flash illuminated the upper branches—the bio-electric strobe of Izuku's massive frill deploying in the darkness.

The villains froze, their mammalian fear centers overloading for a fraction of a second.

In that microsecond of paralysis, a highly pressurized glob of viscous, clear fluid shot from the canopy with the speed of a bullet. It struck the reptilian villain directly in the side of the neck.

"Gah! What the—" The villain swiped at his neck. "He spit on me! The little brat spit—"

The villain's eyes rolled into the back of his head. The ultra-concentrated paralyzing neurotoxin bypassed the skin and hit his nervous system instantly. His body went completely rigid, and he toppled over into the mud like a felled tree, completely paralyzed.

Panic rippled through the thugs.

"What happened to him?!"

"Up there! In the trees! Shoot him!" a villain with guns for fingers roared, aiming wildly into the canopy and firing. Bullets shredded the leaves, but hit nothing but wood.

The jungle was silent again, save for the rain.

Then, the shadows moved.

Izuku didn't drop from above. He had already repositioned, moving silently along the trunks of the trees in a quadrupedal crawl. He dropped to the ground behind the rearguard of the villains.

With terrifying speed, Izuku lunged. He grabbed a villain by the back of his tactical vest, his heavy, muscular legs propelling him backward. In the blink of an eye, he dragged the screaming man up into the dense foliage, silencing his cry with a precisely administered dose of sedative venom to the face.

A heavy, unconscious body plummeted from the trees, crashing into the mud in front of the remaining villains.

"He's picking us off!" one of them shrieked, backing up until he bumped into a tree trunk.

Izuku was already waiting on the other side of that trunk. He reached around, his claws coated in the paralyzing neurotoxin, and lightly raked them across the man's exposed cheek. The villain gasped, dropped his weapon, and slumped to the ground, drooling and completely immobilized.

Tsuyu and Tokoyami watched in stunned silence from the embankment. This wasn't a battle. It was a slaughter.

"His movements... they make no sound," Tokoyami murmured, awe in his voice. "He is an apex shadow."

The remaining fifteen villains were now completely broken. The arrogant thugs had realized a horrifying truth: they had walked into the territory of a monster far worse than anything in the League.

"Forget this! Run! Get to the plaza!" a villain yelled, breaking rank and sprinting toward the edge of the Jungle Zone.

Prey runs.

Izuku dropped from the trees, his heavy boots hitting the mud with a solid thud. He sprinted after the fleeing group on all fours, his spine undulating. He closed a fifty-yard gap in less than three seconds.

He leapt into the air, twisting his body. Using the immense density of his leg muscles, he delivered a devastating, blunt-force sweeping kick—mimicking the devastating tail-whip of a crocodilian. The kinetic force connected with the chests of three villains simultaneously.

Ribs cracked. The three men were launched backward through the air, skipping across the swamp water like skipped stones before crashing into a concrete retaining wall, unconscious.

Izuku landed on his feet, his massive, three-foot-wide frill fully flared, glowing violently in the dim light. He unhinged his jaw and let out an ear-splitting, primal roar that echoed across the entire USJ.

The remaining villains dropped their weapons, fell to their knees in the mud, and surrendered, sobbing in absolute, primal terror.

Izuku slowly closed his jaw. The vibrant frill folded back against his neck with a wet rustle. He engaged his rebreather, the mask clicking back into place over his face to hide his terrifying visage. He took a deep, shuddering breath, forcing the predator back into its cage, reigning in the adrenaline that threatened to consume him.

"Tsu. Tokoyami," Izuku said, turning back to his classmates. "The perimeter is secure. I need you to bind them with the vines. We need to..."

Izuku stopped.

The vents on his mask hissed as he drew in a sharp breath. His acute olfactory senses cut through the smell of ozone, petrichor, and wet mud.

He smelled copper. Iron. Salt.

He smelled blood. A massive amount of it.

Izuku’s thermal vision snapped toward the center of the USJ. Through the walls of the dome and the distance, he could see a cluster of heat signatures in the central plaza. One of them—the massive, hulking furnace he had seen earlier—was standing over a fading, rapidly cooling human heat signature.

Aizawa.

"Midoriya? What is it?" Tsuyu asked, noting the sudden, terrifying shift in his posture.

"Hold this zone," Izuku commanded, his voice devoid of any high school uncertainty. It was the voice of a weapon. "Do not follow me."

He didn't wait for a response. Izuku turned and bolted. He didn't bother with stealth this time. He moved with explosive, linear velocity, his claws tearing chunks out of the concrete paths as he sprinted out of the Squall Zone and toward the central plaza.

The central plaza was a massacre.

Shouta Aizawa, the Eraser Hero, lay broken on the concrete. Both of his arms were shattered, the bones protruding at sickening angles. His face was a bloody ruin. Standing over him was the Nomu—a towering, muscular abomination with exposed brain matter and dead, unblinking eyes.

"You're cool, Eraser Head," Shigaraki Tomura giggled, scratching furiously at his own neck. "But you're just a human. Nomu is a bio-engineered anti-Symbol of Peace. He possesses Shock Absorption and Hyper-Regeneration. Finish him, Nomu."

The Nomu raised a massive, tree-trunk arm, preparing to bring it down on Aizawa’s skull.

From the stairs, Mineta, Tsuyu, and Izuku—no, Izuku wasn't there.

A deafening CRACK echoed across the plaza.

A blur of dark green and black slammed into the side of the Nomu’s head with the force of a freight train. It was a drop-kick delivered with such immense kinetic energy that it created a localized shockwave, blowing away the dust and debris.

The Nomu, a creature designed to take punches from All Might, was actually sent skidding five feet to the side, its grip on Aizawa releasing.

Izuku landed gracefully between the monster and his broken teacher.

Izuku didn't look at Shigaraki. He looked directly at the Nomu. Behind his black rebreather mask, Izuku's slit pupils constricted to pinpricks. The predator inside Izuku didn't feel fear looking at the beast. It felt profound, biological disgust.

The Nomu had no scent of life. It smelled of formaldehyde, necrotic tissue, and stitched-together DNA. It was an affront to the natural order. It was a corpse masquerading as a living thing.

"Oh?" Shigaraki stopped scratching. "Who are you? Another NPC trying to play the hero?"

"Midoriya..." Aizawa wheezed through a mouthful of blood. "Run... it's too strong... shock absorption..."

Izuku didn't turn around. His hands reached up, unlatching his mask. The heavy polymer fell away.

"Shock absorption mitigates blunt force trauma," Izuku stated, his voice a low, terrifying hiss. "But you can't absorb chemistry."

The Nomu lunged, a mindless beast following its master's final order to kill Aizawa.

Izuku’s salivary glands went into maximum overdrive. He didn't synthesize a paralytic. He didn't synthesize a structural solvent. He synthesized a hyper-caustic, blinding acid, highly pressurized and concentrated.

Izuku’s massive frill erupted from his neck, flaring to its full, terrifying width. The bio-electric flash strobed across the plaza. Shigaraki flinched, a primal wave of fear washing over him.

But the Nomu didn't flinch. It had no amygdala to stimulate. It had no fear.

Izuku unhinged his jaw and spat.

A torrent of glowing, emerald acid struck the Nomu directly in its exposed brain.

The reaction was catastrophic. The acid hissed and boiled, instantly melting through the protective membrane and eating into the grey matter. The Nomu let out a horrific, garbled shriek, its hands flying up to clutch its melting skull. It staggered backward, completely blinded, thrashing wildly.

"NOMU!" Shigaraki screamed, his red eyes wide behind the hand on his face. "What did you do?!"

Izuku didn't gloat. He watched clinically with his thermal vision. The heat signature inside the Nomu's head was fluctuating wildly. The melted brain tissue was bubbling. But then, to Izuku's horror, the bubbling stopped. The necrotic, melted flesh began to knit itself back together at a terrifying speed. The acid was neutralized by the sheer volume of rapidly dividing cells.

Hyper-Regeneration, Izuku realized. It's healing faster than the acid can devour it. Standard corrosives are ineffective.

The Nomu recovered, its brain fully restored. It roared, launching itself at Izuku with blinding speed.

Izuku barely reacted in time. He dropped low, the Nomu's massive fist grazing his hair. The wind pressure from the punch alone cracked the concrete beneath Izuku's feet.

Izuku retaliated, his claws extending. He slashed upward, dragging his talons across the Nomu's abdomen. The Kevlar-like skin parted, spilling dark blood, but the wound stitched itself closed in a fraction of a second.

Izuku leaped backward, creating distance. Physical attacks are useless. Corrosives are outpaced.

His mind, the brilliant, analytical brain of a Quirk scholar, raced through organic chemistry formulas. If the cells divide infinitely to heal, he needed to introduce an agent that caused immediate cellular apoptosis—cell death—while simultaneously preventing the blood from clotting.

Izuku’s throat burned with agonizing heat. This was a complex synthesis. It required massive amounts of internal energy. He altered his body chemistry, drawing heavily on his alkaline reserves to line his own throat, while his venom glands produced a dark, violet, highly necrotic anti-coagulant acid.

He pressed the button on his mask, sealing it shut over his face. He spat the violet venom into the aerosolizer. The mechanical pump whirred, shooting the necrotic fluid down the micro-tubes in his suit, flooding the bracers on his wrists.

His claws extended, now dripping with a sinister, dark purple fluid.

"Kill the brat!" Shigaraki ordered.

The Nomu charged. It threw a devastating right hook.

Izuku didn't block. He couldn't block; the force would shatter his arms. Instead, Izuku engaged his Dilophosaurus agility. He slid forward on his knees, passing directly under the Nomu's massive arm. As he slid underneath, Izuku whipped his arm upward, dragging his venom-coated claws deep into the Nomu's Achilles tendon.

The Nomu stumbled, turning to backhand Izuku.

Izuku vaulted off the ground, twisting mid-air. He landed lightly on the Nomu's massive, muscular back. The beast reached back to grab him. Izuku grabbed the incoming arm, sinking his claws deep into the tendons of the Nomu's elbow joint, injecting the necrotic venom directly into the muscle tissue.

"Get off!" Shigaraki screamed.

The Nomu roared, violently throwing its body backward to crush Izuku against the ground. But Izuku had already disengaged, backflipping away and landing gracefully beside Aizawa.

"Your beast is broken," Izuku said, his voice cold through the mask's comms.

Shigaraki laughed. "Are you blind? The Nomu heals instantly!"

The Nomu took a step forward to charge again.

But its right leg collapsed.

The beast tumbled to the concrete with a heavy crash. It tried to push itself up with its right arm, but the arm gave out, folding uselessly beneath its weight.

Shigaraki stopped laughing. "What? Nomu! Get up! Regenerate!"

The Nomu's biology was trying to obey. The Hyper-Regeneration Quirk forced the severed tendons in its heel and elbow to knit back together. But the moment the new cells formed, the dark purple necrotic venom destroyed them. The anti-coagulant prevented the blood from sealing the wound. The Nomu was trapped in a horrific, agonizing loop of rapid healing and instant cellular death.

The beast thrashed on the ground, effectively crippled.

Izuku knelt down, gently wrapping his arms around Aizawa’s torso. He easily lifted the injured man, his immense leg strength carrying the extra weight without strain.

"You... you cheated!" Shigaraki shrieked, furiously scratching his neck until blood welled beneath his fingernails. "You're not a hero! You're a monster! You poisoned him! Kurogiri! Warp the Nomu! Get the healer!"

The mist villain materialized next to Shigaraki. "Tomura Shigaraki, the necrosis is spreading rapidly. The Nomu's structural integrity is failing. We must retreat, or risk losing our vanguard entirely."

"No! NO! I want the green one dead! I want him reduced to dust!" Shigaraki charged forward, his hands outstretched, desperate to decay Izuku.

Izuku stood his ground, Aizawa securely over his shoulder. The heat in Izuku's throat flared one final time, preparing to spit a lethal dose of acid directly into Shigaraki's face. If it was kill or be killed, the apex predator knew exactly what to do.

Before Izuku could unleash the venom, a massive explosion shook the entrance of the USJ.

The heavy steel doors blew completely off their hinges, crashing to the floor below.

The dust settled, revealing a massive, towering silhouette. The man wasn't wearing his usual bright smile. His face was cast in deep shadows, his eyes burning with an unbridled, terrifying fury. He had ripped off his tie.

"It is fine now," All Might's voice echoed through the dome, devoid of its usual booming cheer. It was a promise of violence. "Because I am here."

Shigaraki stopped his charge, a twisted grin returning to his face. "Ah... the final boss has arrived."

Izuku slowly let his frill fold back down. The burning heat in his throat subsided. He had done his job. He had held the line. He had survived the bottom of the food chain, and protected his pack.

"Young Midoriya," All Might vanished from the doorway, reappearing beside Izuku in a fraction of a second. The Pro Hero placed a massive, gentle hand on Izuku's shoulder, looking down at the crippled, necrotic Nomu, and then at the broken Aizawa in Izuku's arms.

"You did well, my boy," All Might said softly. "You showed true restraint. Now, get him to safety. Leave the rest to me."

Izuku nodded, turning and leaping up the stairs toward the entrance, his powerful legs carrying him away from the plaza.

He didn't need to stay and watch. The Apex of the underworld was stepping down. It was time for the Apex of the light to show the villains exactly why they belonged in the shadows.
